Some possible causes of abdominal distension in a newborn include:
Swallowed air: Newborns may swallow air while feeding, which can cause temporary abdominal distension. This is usually harmless and resolves on its own.
Constipation: If a newborn is having difficulty passing stools, it can cause a buildup of gas and stool in the intestines, leading to abdominal distension.
Intestinal obstruction: A blockage in the intestines can cause abdominal distension, along with symptoms such as vomiting, constipation, and lethargy.
Gastrointestinal infection: Certain infections, such as rotavirus, can cause abdominal distension and other symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, and fever.
Inflammatory bowel disease: In rare cases, newborns may develop inflammatory bowel disease, which can cause abdominal distension along with other symptoms like diarrhea and weight loss.
If a newborn has abdominal distension, it’s important to seek medical attention promptly. A doctor can perform a physical exam and may order tests like X-rays or blood tests to help determine the cause of the distension. Depending on the underlying cause, treatment may involve dietary changes, medication, or surgery.
Fever: Fever in a newborn baby can be a concerning symptom, and it is important to consult a healthcare professional if you suspect your baby has a fever. A fever is generally defined as a rectal temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) or higher in infants under three months of age. Some possible causes of fever in a newborn baby include:
Infection: A newborn baby may develop a fever as a result of an infection, such as a bacterial or viral infection. Common infections in newborns include sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, and urinary tract infections.
Immunizations: Some vaccines may cause a fever in newborns, such as the hepatitis B vaccine. This is usually a mild and temporary side effect.
Overdressing: Newborns may develop a fever if they are overdressed or in a warm environment. It is important to keep your baby comfortable and monitor their temperature.
Teething: Teething can cause a low-grade fever in some babies.
Other medical conditions: Less commonly, a fever in a newborn may be a sign of a more serious underlying medical condition.
If you suspect your newborn has a fever, it is important to seek medical attention. Your healthcare provider may perform a physical exam, order tests, or recommend treatments based on the cause of the fever. Treatment may include medication, such as acetaminophen, to reduce the fever and manage any underlying conditions. It is important to follow your healthcare provider’s instructions and monitor your baby’s temperature closely.

#tumblr polls#polls#Sorry if the wording is weird. I thought ''be considered X where I live'' would make the most sense since 'tallness' or etc. is sort of#subjective to the people around you or your specific culture/area/etc. And if I just said ''I'm tall'' or ''I'm short'' then#the response might be 'well how do I define whether I'm tall or not?'' or etc. But then most people could probably look#at the people around them in daily life they interact with and compare based on that to get a more literal idea or something#..ANYWAY.. lol.. as usual just thought of some random thing and was like.. hrmm... i wonder what the most common#feeling about that would be.#personally I'm not even short but I just want to be really really tall... like... 7 feet tall or something. In a fantasy world type of way#of course. so like a super tall elf creature. More realistically I suppose you get health problems past a certain point#so maybe I'd be happy with 6'2“ or so.#Absolutely no hate towards people with this preference but I've always had trouble understanding the idea of wanting to be shorter#so you're Small And Cute or this and that. or whatever the base reason is. I suppose I would understand it from a surivval prespective#maybe you want to be able to hide in your environment easier and blend into a crowd. I personally would like people to be inspired to run#away from me when they see me though gjhbj#In an average grocery store or something just a normal day but then some 8 foot tall wizard man walks in and so everyone#kind of backs away slowly = yaaay I get the aisle all to myself and can shop for my produce in peace.#(except for the fact that there's a subsection of people who would intepret it as spectacle and would run towards instead of away#and pull out their dumbass phones to film Weird Thing Happening. in which case. spell of 'phone melts into molten plastic in your hands#stop filming strangers in public without their consent' be cast upon ye. )

Shoe was written as a homage to the series creator so he's not prominent as an actual 'character' but god does he mean the world to me. His existence alone proves Engarde is not the heartless frigid maniac he likes to fancy himself to be.
Aside from his pathetic breakdown when faced with the idea of being murdered by Shelly, having a pet kitty is the most effective way to Humanize him - yes he did all of those things, but he also went out of his way to install a cat door to his office so his obviously very young cat could walk in and out of it as he pleases. *I* don't have cat doors installed and *I* am a much nicer person than Engarde was.
This cat is such a small part of Farewell, My Turnabout but oh my god he's my everything.
#Shoe is like 3 months old to me#from the face alone u can tell hes quite young#me writing furiously that both of engardes facades are a huge lie and his true self is a wet paper bag of a man worth absolutely nothing#and even IF you told me he only has a cat to seem soft and sensitive - that sure is a lot of effort put into it then#and its clearly just a common shorthaired cat. a mutt. he has the money to buy a scottish fold and THAT wouldve been a better metaphor#yknow. how theyre cute and look adorable but are actually suffering from huge health problems. so having one is a sign you dont care.#🥩engarde#ANYWAYS#📡 incoming transmission 📡#matt engarde#farewell my turnabout#ace attorney#ace attorney justice for all

this is not the most pressing issue in the world (unless you factor in cases of elder abuse), but why is it so common to be weird about like. older people. the perception that they all must be out-of-touch, conservative-leaning reactionaries. the oddly puritanical panic that crops up around "sexualising" old celebrities, as if it's somehow gross or unethical. that person has grown-up children, they know what sex is. even when positive, so much is framed in this patronising/infantilising way, as if it's a discussion on a video about a cute animal doing something novel. that's just a person who's 70.
#I'm guessing it's down to a common frame of reference of certain ages being someone's grandparents or older relatives or something#so the perception they have isn't their typical one of an adult stranger. it's ''my grandma'' and treating them accordingly#I mean. I'm saying it's not a pressing issue but I feel like the raised chance of health problems as you age#there's a little bit of ableism related to the sexualising part

I think I’ve just discovered my first case of getting blocked in the weirdest way… I liked a big long post of REO Speedwagon pictures a couple of weeks ago and just tried to reblog it, and it keeps going straight to an error message. Can’t reblog it from another user’s reblog of the original post. Funny enough, the OP had liked one of my posts a week or so ago, but the note has disappeared from my activity page. Can’t find the post under the REO tag anymore either, though I can still see it in my likes, so I guess that’s one post that’ll just sit in my likes forever, and unfortunately, one I can’t reblog to share with my friends in the tiny REO fandom
Don’t know what I ever did to OP, since the only interaction I ever made was liking that post, and then attempting to reblog it now (and I loved the pictures in it… a shame). I can still view their blog via where I can still see the post in my likes, and it looks like they’ve got mental health problems, so… Sorry, OP. I don’t know what I did, but if I did something, I didn’t intend to upset you, and I hope you’re feeling better soon. 🤷♀️
#random#Insanitypost#pardonmyinsanity#the only thing I can think is that they say they’re ‘anti-Endo’ in regards to people who discredit certain mental health problems…#…and they mistook my references to Endometriosis for it (I can assure y’all I do not devalue *any* disorders!)#see this is the problem with calling a crappy ideology group the same thing as a common abbreviation for a very real chronic disease#rant

having a lot of thoughts about how people use 'normalize' when they mean 'destigmatize' or 'make the nature of into common knowledge,' and how they conflate 'the perception of this thing as normal' with the thing actually being a normal occurrence, and how it is in fact incredibly harmful to try to convince people that an ideal situation is normal when that does not map onto their lived reality or the dangers they need to be aware of to avoid. it is 3:33am though so writing up an actual poast about it will have to wait for later
#whosebaby talks#this post brought to you by 'spreading awareness of what an abusive relationship is and looks like compared to a nonabusive relationship'#'is fantastic and i support it fully and think it's deeply important. giving people the false idea that abusive relationships are uncommon'#'and are flukes that go against the grain of society functioning as it normally does; is insanely dangerous to people who are potential#targets; and incredibly alienating and isolating and cruel to people who have already been targets'#'in uniquely awful ways depending on whether they're already aware of that or aren't. don't fucking do that'#it applies much more broadly than that; but it's an instance i think about A Lot and it's what led me to this line of thought to start with#there's also 'normal does not mean good and saying so has incredibly unbelievably harmful implications keep that shit out of your mouth'#but that is so obvious it boggles my mind that it has to be explained to anyone on this site; and it is talked about often enough#that i would rather focus on the parts i don't really see talked about much; if at all#also like the fact that 'statistically average' normal vs 'things are functioning as they usually do' is a critically important distinction#they are closely related and interplay heavily with each other but they are Not the Same Thing#and how 'normal' can refer to different layers and aspects of a subject--people with rare health conditions are not statistically average#and that by itself is fine. and those people having conditions that are disruptive to the usual functioning of a space or system#is avoidable in some cases by establishing as much infrastructure as possible to integrate their more common needs smoothly#and unavoidable in others; which means the normal functioning of a system/space that accommodates people with unexpected needs#has to account *for its normal functioning being disrupted sometimes*#and bend around that disruption without either breaking down or rolling right over the disabled people who Cause Problems#and at the same time 'rare health condition' gets applied to health conditions that are not rare *at all* to not only justify not bothering#to make the system integrate their needs in general when it could do so easily; but make it so that accommodating their needs anyway puts#immense and unnecessary strain on the system; so there is zero margin for anything you didn't specifically fight tooth and nail for already#anyway it's a really extensive subject and a fascinating one. for later. sleep now#abuse cw#ableism cw#the salt files#is there a name for that tag
