Sensitive Paws

A/N: I have a headcanon that Tighnari has little paw pads on his hands and feet and decided to explore that in this fic. I hope you enjoy!

Summary: Cyno comes to the Avidya Forest to visit his boyfriend Tighnari and learns something new about him

Characters: lee!Tighnari, ler!Cyno

“Master Tighnari! Cyno’s here to see you!” Collei called.

Tighnari’s ears perked up at his boyfriend’s name. “Coming!”

He bookmarked and placed his field journal down onto his desk and stepped outside. He heard Collei giggling and headed in that direction.

“There you are, Tighnari,” Cyno waved.

“M-mahaster Tighnari! Cyno just told me the funniest joke! You have to hear it!”

Oh Dendro Archon, have mercy. Tighnari thought. “Alright, let’s hear it.”

“What do you call a reptile detective?” Cyno smiled slightly.

Tighnari sighed. “An investigator?”

Collei gasped, “How did you know?”

“I didn’t even get a chance to explain it yet!” Cyno exclaimed.

“Forest watcher’s intuition?”

Collei and Cyno looked at each other and shrugged.

“But do you get it? You see, it’s funny becau—”

“C’mon, Cyno,” Tighnari said, grabbing Cyno’s arm.

“Oh, okay! I’ll see you later, Collei!”

Collei smiled and waved goodbye as Tighnari pulled Cyno along back to his hut. Once they arrived, Tighnari took off his boots and gloves, and Cyno his headpiece. The two of them sat down on a window seat.

“How’ve things been?” Cyno asked.

“Pretty good. Collei’s been doing a lot better, and the other forest rangers and I have cleared up many more of the withering zones since you last visited.”

“That’s good to hear.”

“Mhm,” Tighnari hummed as he absentmindedly lifted his right hand to stroke his right ear.

“Oh! Nari,” Cyno started, “You never told me you have little paw pads! I thought the design on your gloves was just decorative!”

“Oh, heh, yeah,” Tighnari said, mildly embarrassed. “They’re on my feet, too.”

“No way! Can I see?”

Tighnari immediately regretted saying anything. “Um…”

“Please?” Cyno looked at him with puppy dog eyes, even moving his hair out of the way to do so.

“Ugh, fine, but only because I know you’ll bother me until I do.”

Cyno watched expectantly as Tighnari put his feet up onto the bench and removed his socks. The soft pink paw pads resembled those of a fennec fox.

“Whaaa! That’s adorable!”

Tighnari’s ears tilted downwards as he avoided Cyno’s gaze. “Yeah, just, d-don’t touch them. They’re very sensitive.”

“Aww, pleeease? I promise I’ll be gentle!”

A faint rosy hue dusted Tighnari’s cheeks. He covered his eyes with his right arm. “Uh…”

“Pleeeeeease please please please plea—” 

“OKAY! Okay. Here.” Tighnari said, defeated, as he placed his feet into Cyno’s lap.

Cyno very delicately lifted Tighnari’s left foot. He put the heel in the palms of his hands, resting his fingers on the top as he very, very carefully, pressed his thumbs into the paw pad on Tighnari’s sole. Tighnari’s leg twitched slightly as he lifted his arm a bit to watch what Cyno was doing.

“Oh wow, it’s so soft,” Cyno said, rubbing small circles with his thumbs into the pad.

Tighnari held his breath.

“You must treat them with great care,” Cyno continued, now stroking up and down.

“Mmhmhm! I-I doho.”

Cyno finally looked up and noticed Tighnari’s rather red complexion. “You okay?”

“Y-yeah, fine.” Tighnari decided it was fruitless to try to hide his face at this point and moved his arm back down.

Cyno looked back down and moved his fingers up to Tighnari’s toes with his right hand, still holding the foot with his left. He lightly traced around the smaller paw pads there.

“AHAHA w-wahahahait!! Cyno plehehease, th-that tickles so bad!”

Oh. So that’s why he was acting strangely. “It tickles, does it?” Cyno smirked. “How about this?”

Cyno gripped Tighnari’s ankle tighter and began skittering his fingers all around the little paw pads.

“AAAH!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA OHOHO AHAHARCHOHOHONS! S-STAHAHAHAHAHAP!!”

Tighnari’s tail, which was hanging off the edge of the bench, was now slapping the side enthusiastically.

“Your tail says otherwise,” Cyno said matter-of-factly. He quickly grabbed Tighnari’s other foot, trapping them both in a headlock between his legs. Now with both hands free, he scritched up and down both of his feet.

“WHAAHA NONONONONONONOHOHOOO! NAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!”

“Oh my, I had no idea my little Nari’s feet were so incredibly ticklish, hm?”

“CYHYHYNOO! Pleheheease dohohon’t tehehease me!”

“Don’t tease you? But your reactions are so cute! How could I not?”

“Nohohooo,” Tighnari whined, burying his face in his hands once again.

“I’ve never heard you laugh this much before. I wish I could get this level of a reaction out of you with my jokes. You have a beautiful laugh.” Cyno paused for a moment to let his boyfriend catch his breath, but didn’t release him just yet.

Tighnari uncovered his face and let the residual giggles slip out. The corners of his eyes were damp. He looked at Cyno and was greeted with the most loving gaze he had ever seen.

“May I hold your hand?”

Lovestruck and unable to refuse such a simple request, Tighnari offered his right hand.

Cyno repeated the tracing patterns he had drawn on Tighnari’s foot. Tighnari didn’t hide his giggles this time. His tail continued to wag happily.

“This tickles too?”

“Yehehes, but nohot as much.”

Cyno’s eyes widened as he realized something. He let go of Tighnari’s hand. Tighnari stopped wagging. His left ear twitched. They looked at each other.

“What do you call a pretentious criminal going down stairs?”

Tighnari relaxed and rolled his eyes. Cyno smirked.

“Hmm…” Tighnari thought, resting his right hand on his chin. “I don’t know.”

“You don’t?”

“Nope.”

A hint of mischief crossed Cyno’s face. Tighnari froze, ears standing straight up.

“A condescending con descending!” Cyno exclaimed.

Tighnari chuckled. It was barely audible, but Cyno positively beamed at the sound. Tighnari gasped and covered his mouth.

“You laughed!”

“Amazing…” Tighnari said in disbelief.

“That’s a good one, right??”

“It’s a good one, yeah!”

“Hell yeah! LET’S GOOO!!!”

“You’re ridiculAHAHAHA! CYNO!!”

“And you need to laugh more often,” Cyno said as his fingers shot back underneath Tighnari’s toes.

“PLEHEHEHEASE NOT THEHEHEHERE!!”

“Yes here! Tickle tickle tickle~” Cyno lightly scratched on top of and all around Tighnari’s adorable little toe beans.

“EEEEEEEYAHAHAAAHAHAHA PFFTAHAHA NAHAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHA!!” Tighnari squealed, his tail wagging madly and his hands swatting at Cyno, missing entirely.

“OKAYOKAYICANTICAHAHAHAAAN’T BABY PLEHEHEASE! NO MOHOHOHORE!!”

Cyno flushed at the pet name. He stopped the tickle attack and switched to soothing rubs, still making Tighnari laugh.

“Ehehehehe yohohou’re so mehehean!”

“I’m not mean! See? I’m just giving you a little foot massage.”

“Ihihihit stihihill tihihickles!”

“Well that’s too bad. You’re still wagging, though.”

“Shuhuhuhut uhuhup!”

Cyno lifted his leg off of Tighnari’s ankles and raised Tighnari’s left foot up, kissing the top of the soft paw pad on his sole, before letting go. Tighnari crossed his legs, his tail still wagging.

“You’re just the cutest thing,” Cyno said, crawling over to and clumsily wrapping his arms around Tighnari to give him a hug. He kissed his cheek. And his ear, and his ear again, and again, and again…

“STAhahap!! You know they’re sensitive too!”

“Yeah, I know,” Cyno said, before leaning in for a real kiss, which Tighnari gratefully returned.

“Hey guys? Someone asked for—Oh! Ohmigosh! I’m so sorry!!” Collei covered her eyes.

The two boys broke apart.

“What is it, Collei?” Tighnari asked.

“I-it’s nothing! S-someone just wanted to ask you something, Master Tighnari, b-but I can come back later! No worries!”

She ran off before he had a chance to answer.

“You can check later, right?” Cyno asked.

“Again with that look, you’ve gotta stop doing that. And yeah, she wouldn’t have left if it was urgent.”

“Good,” Cyno said as he caressed Tighnari’s cheek, stealing another kiss.

last post complaining about genshin's writing for the month Anyway i think blorbofication happening in canon is the best way i could describe a lot of the problems i have with it ex. kaeya's relationship with diluc (or klee) is almost the only focus we get on him now, other than his brief appearance in the sumeru archon quest which was just saying his backstory basically with very little actual reaction or characterization on his part OR dainsleif's (also a problem i have in the albedo homunculus reveal in shadows amidst snowstorms). i haven't done his hangout because i. don't care enough to sit through an hour for each route with the quality of content hoyoverse puts out but looking at the ending options i feel like. they missed the opportunity to expand on things we already had for kaeya in favor of Oh he babysits klee! Oh albedo is here! Spend money to pull albedo!Venti cameo! What do you mean him and amber have a complicated dynamic. What do you mean he's apparently beloved by the elderly of mondstadt and the one who wraps up all the incidents there. What do you mean bennett trusts him as an omniscient big brother according to his official cn character profile. We made him talk to diluc again isn't that enough kaeya for you? and it sucks because kaeya feels like a rubik's cube with an onion's layers and like one of their best character personalities in content where he's actually kaeya and not just diluc's brother who is sad and also pretty! we never see anything about his relationship with jean, who he is the Most Trusted Aide of, or mondstadt at large! because every day we get closer to fanon kaeya being canon kaeya and it's just. You can have canon kaeya and fanon kaeya will follow but if fanon kaeya is at the forefront you're just immediately losing all that depth and it's going nowhere

BUT DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON CYRUS AND NAPHIS??? sobs we finally get to see them and i love them sm 😭 but also when reading their thoughts after we return from the tos and naphis has a go at cyrus for going off on his own, i love how cyrus is just being a menace while naphis regretted not swamping him in work to prevent him from going off in the first place ;w;

Speaking of visions, what was everyone’s reaction to receiving one? Happy? Disappointed?

Collei: "I.. was actually pretty shocked when I received one. I think I was feeling too many things at once to actually describe a certain reaction. I never imagined someone like me getting a vision. For the longest I thought only the Gods’ favorites like popular people received visions, and um.. clearly I wasn’t one of them…- but! That’s fine! That was all back when I was in a real bad mindset. Now, I know that’s untrue and I’m grateful for my vision!"

Aether: "V..Vision…? Well Anon, I’m not entirely sure what you mean by that."

Paimon: "Paimon thinks you have been bonked on the head too much times.. visions, Traveller!"

see the thing is w sara it’s like I think she was heavily underutilized in a way that ideally would’ve been like how kokomi’s dealt with. like I would’ve loved the inazuma aq to explore her guilt more and have her actually be explored but I ultimately don’t think she needed to be a big part of the story quest bc it was still ultimately abt ei and miko and kokomi (BTW KOKOMI WAS SO UNDERUTILIZED). but with collei i ideally would’ve wanted her to play a part bigger than dunyarzad. I think tht while nahida was the glue, collei should’ve been the catalyst in the aq. I think that she would’ve successfully connected sumeru’s theme and scara’s arc and dottore’s involvement (both past and present) and introduce interesting themes in class in a way that would’ve been satisfying to the overall story and her own story
