Monty's got a scarf that is seemingly just red as that's what's always showing, indicating Charles as a barrier

Just realized that the scarf looks like it's actually red on one side, blue on the other, referencing Edwin & Charles' inextricable connection--THE KNOWLEDGE OF WHICH WEIGHS HEAVY AROUND MONTY'S THROAT

I maintain that The Case of the Creeping Forest is a Monty and Crystal parallel arc episode

So true. I'm kind of hoping since Charles is still figuring out his feelings, maybe Edwin will try dating Monty for a while in season 2 so we can those dynamics and also Charles continuing to look at them and wish it was him and Edwin instead.

Plus, it's a good, messy settling/rebound drama

plagued by thoughts of how cute edwin and monty would have been though because like neither of them knows Anything At All monty was a crow for his entire existence and edwin is only now beginning to accept and navigate his homosexuality so like. they really could have been a cute first relationship sort of dynamic help give me back my crow babe my astrology bitch my sassy legend

@sapphic-corgi asked George Rexstrew what more he would have liked to see between Edwin and Monty. He said "Monty singing to Edwin".

When I saw Joshua Colley was on Cameo, I put in a request about this, and bless him, he delivered for us.

I noticed that in the Case of the Creeping Forest, we have Crystal & Charles with their own lantern in the forest.

Edwin and Monty with their own lantern.

Neither of those lanterns is the same as the one that Edwin gave to Charles when they met.

The Cat King extinguishes Monty's flame just before lighting his own Chandelier and outing Monty to Edwin, hoping it will garner favor for himself in Edwin's eyes.

When Charles descends into Hell, he doesn't have the lantern in hand yet. He pulls it out of his Bag-of-Tricks in the darkness of the Doll House.

As the fandom has already pointed out, the lantern that Edwin gave Charles when he was dying is the same lantern Charles brings into Hell to save Edwin.
