Remember: The burning sensation is part of the process.
#Mouthwashing#blood#body horror#Emphasizing here that this is in reference to a media and character and not a cry for help on my end.#Mouthwashing is one of those games that tickles my brain and checks all the boxes for my niche interests -#-but it wasn't something that got the silly comic part in my cortex firing up. My analysis brain is eating well though!#What said...It is impossible for me to see this scene and not say out loud: “Me in the middle of my work day".#While there is a lot more going on with curly I personally resonated a lot with his struggles with burnout.#Burnout feels like mouthwash to me. That you keep rinsing out your mouth trying to get rid of the rotting smell#but it's just surface level solutions. The real cure requires something far more significant to actually make a difference.#The job 'is hard' and 'everyone struggles'. It's part of the process right? You're tired? Anxious? Depressed? Us too! Chin up!#Actually I resonated with a lot of things within Curly (this is a curly positive space - he's not perfect. He's just human).#One thing being his desire to see the good in people and believe in their potential.#Because here's the thing. Some people truly do just need someone in their corner who stands by them so they can grow and improve.#And some people will take advantage of your kindness. You focus so much on their humanity while you stop being a person to them.#The horrifically toxic relationship persists because Curly tries to see the bigger picture and believes in the good within.#Anyone who has lived through constantly trying to reframe the hurt as something else knows-#-just how many excuses your brain will make to avoid cognitive dissonance. It's human psychology.#Jimmy sucks so bad. But we the audience have the privilege of not having years of baggage associating him in our minds as 'friend'.

Trauma is embedded within the body and ingrained in the brain. For lasting change, create strategies that address both the physical and mental aspects of trauma.
Physical Therapies:
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Leverages bodily sensations to navigate through trauma.
Yoga: Boosts bodily mindfulness and alleviates stress.
Somatic Experiencing: Helps discharge trauma-induced physical tension.
Tai Chi: Enhances equilibrium through deliberate movements.
Massage Therapy: Facilitates emotional liberation through easing muscle tightness.
Acupuncture: Activates the body's healing spots.
Craniosacral Therapy: Eases stress through soft manipulations of the skull and spine.
Breathwork: Employs breathing techniques for better physical and psychological well-being.
Dance Movement Therapy: Merges emotional expression with physical activity.
Mental Therapies:
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: Bridges the gap between mental impacts and bodily reactions.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Aids in memory processing through eye movements.
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Aims to transform harmful thought patterns.
IFS (Internal Family Systems): Promotes healing within different parts of the psyche.
NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming): Modifies behavior via language and thought patterns.
Neurofeedback: Boosts brain activity for better function.
MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy): Combines mindfulness practices with cognitive therapeutic techniques.
Psychodynamic Therapy: Investigates the influence of past experiences.
Narrative Therapy: Helps individuals reframe their life stories.
Please remember that I am not a therapist. Speaking to a professional will help you figure out what course of action is better for you.

It's especially sad to me, how apparently common it is for some people to think autistic/neurodivergent people are lying or trying to manipulate them when they're actually being radically honest— it's just "too" honest for them to identify or accept.
It's sad that their honesty is considered "radical" relative to neurotypical society, when it would in nearly all cases be healthier and better for everyone to be more open and honest with each other.

i think we also need more compassion for those of us with higher support needs who have difficulties communicating and understanding things, with or without an intellectual disability. i get made fun of a lot for not having “proper” communication abilities that “match” my age and for not understanding “obvious” concepts/jokes that to me were not obvious at all. please have kindness for autistics who have difficulty with things you don’t. even if you are also autistic.

Despite trying to hide the fact that he has emotions, Logan was still quite clearly pleased when Virgil was revealed once he was calmed down from his panic, after years of being surrounded by extroverts it was nice to be able to finally interact with another introvert, even if his main function (paranoid and irrational thoughts and actions) seems to directly oppose him

Shoutout to all the other disabled leftists with cognitive symptoms who cannot read leftist theory. You are not less of a leftist, or less of an activist.
Honestly, just sending love to all the leftists who haven’t touched the heaps of theory out there. Reading theory isn’t required to be a leftist. If you’ve got a grip on your core beliefs (e.g. anti-capitalism, anti-fascism & anti-racism!) and do your best to help others & follow those beliefs? You are doing so well. You don’t need to read complex theories to stay true to your basic beliefs and follow them with your actions. So, we are sending you love and strength. 🙂‍↕️🫰.
(This is not saying reading theory is bad/unhelpful/useless- just that a lot of it is inaccessible! Folks who cannot access clear & digestible information about leftist theory are still leftists. That’s all this post is saying.!)

absolutely unhinged scenario where beren and luthien finally pass in the way of men, gently and together and in love, ready to embrace the unknown— and wake up in the light of laurelin. Obviously, in the classic way of beren and luthien, they proceed to accidentally fuck up the first age in new and interesting ways.

intuitively chomskyian linguistics in general reminds me strongly of string theory (cf this Zompist post). research into the fundamentals of language, like research into the fundamentals of physics, is hard. you have to gather tons of data. you have to explore theoretical realms which we only partly understand (it's even worse in linguistics, because cognition is probably much more poorly understood than QCD). it is certainly possible to get locked into an insular and self-referential project of building elaborate and beautiful theories which because of their infinite flexibility need never tangle with the mess and fuss of actual experiment--to say nothing of making useful predictions--but i don't think you should confuse this with actually, like. discovering new facts about the world. although at least chomsky's program is mostly an indulgence that has consumed only him, MIT, and his immediate followers; string theory on the other hand seems to have devoured almost all of theoretical physics.

They don't make pills for that...
One of the less talked about hallmarks of schizophrenia is the cognitive aspect. Typical antipsychotics work on D2 receptors, atypical antipsychotics work on serotonin 5-HT2 receptors, and both do an ok job at managing the positive symptoms of schizophrenia.
There are no pills for cognitive impairment. There are "cognitive enhancement" medications, but they are rarely, if ever, prescribed to people with schizophrenia, and their effectiveness is debatable.
There are things like diet and stress management (difficult when one eats the same thing every day for fear of being poisoned) that can aid in cognitive functioning, but there are no "magic" pills that "fix" the issues. Supplements are good, a balanced diet is good, but the problems with cognition and executive functioning persist.
Skill-building techniques help with the cognitive aspects of schizophrenia. Tasks that train working memory, processing, organization, attention, reasoning, etc. can help build up the pathways in the brain to support executive functioning skills.
While everyone's situation is unique and some people's symptoms are much more severe than others, people with schizophrenia do have the ability to learn and develop new skills. Just because it may take us longer than the average bear doesn't mean we can't do it.

It wouldn’t be a good thing and would certainly throw a catastrophic wrench in everything but the next 12-15 hours would be the absolute funniest time for Joe Biden to go on tv and say “actually I’m a Trump supporter now, after hearing about all this for so long I’ve come around to it and think I’m voting MAGA 😎”

tired of early 20-somethings acting like harry potter was never good or had no value in its day like shut the fuck up half of you weren't even there when it peaked
#sit with the cognitive dissonance like the rest of us or shut up honestly#was it a product of its time yes#was it's author a very basic neoliberal white lady from a country with a long and unchecked imperialist history yes#was the story influenced by said neoliberal worldviews and unexamined biases obviously#does any of that make it a bad story or an unimaginative world no#you can pick apart any fantasy world if you try hard enough#harry potter was a good telling of the hero's journey written in the format of seven mystery novels set against a fantasy backdrop#we can certainly talk about its flaws or how the author's biases leaked onto the page#but stop acting like it was never good and there was never a reason those books resonated with people#it's condescending for one thing and again- if you're younger than like...24-25 you didn't actually experience the heyday of the books#if you're 25 now you'd have been like 8 or 9 when the last book came out and probably weren't reading them yet#you might remember the latter half of the movie era but you have no idea how much it was the BOOKS that drove its popularity#never before and never since has any book series had the fanfare that harry potter did and that didn't happen for no reason#so find a way to make peace with that instead of acting intellectually superior because you grew up with percy jackson instead#this 'well MY generation's preferred childhood book series is morally superior to YOURS so I'm better than you' shit drives me up a wall#like get over yourself honestly#...sorry had to get that off my chest there was this youtube video and it was irritating me
