just saw a post which was very insistent in an authoritative way that interacting with AI-assisted art in any context even just to mentally find meaning in it before moving on, or even (especially!) if you don't actually realize that it's AI-assisted before interacting, is a moral failing on ur part. and so according to op the only morally correct thing to do from now on for the rest of ur life is to thoroughly research every piece of art you come across, and to thoroughly research the artist of any piece of art you come across, and to - prior to appreciating any art - ensure just in case through thorough research that no AI was used at any point in the process at all, or else it's morally tainted the art forever. and how if you don't do this you, personally, will be partially responsible for the impeding death of art itself. Through the woodland green.

Originally completed on 15th July 2024.

My interpretation: You are lost in the woods, and you find yourself approaching a clump of dying pine trees and beyond them a clearing. The air feels still and hot. You realise that as you make your way closer to the clearing, the sounds of the forest have begun to diminish. All you can hear are your own movement and breathing. A strange tension fills the air. You feel the urge to shout or laugh but resist. You notice that the ancient maple tree in the centre of the clearing has a strange wood formation on it. Is that a seated man? You move closer to get a better look. Suddenly, the wind violently picks up. You look around wildly in shock and realise your left foot is inside the circle of toadstools. You look back to the maple as your heart begins to race. His eyes have opened.

I got inspired by a couple of cel animated/painted SpongeBob fan works and thought it would be neat to have some Winx Club cels to hang up in my room. However, I didn’t wanna go gung-ho right into a Winx Piece then detrimentally f- it up and waste all of my time trying to learn a completely new way of inking and painting, so I decided a Daisy redraw would be a good form of practice and aesthetically appropriate! I’m in LOVE with how this turned out, and my only complaints are the bleeding paint which I’ll be sure to keep a better eye on when I work on my Winx cels

Next time, I’m gonna try printing digital linework to save time and have less opacity problems. I can’t exactly justify purchasing good ink + and inking pen when I don’t know if this will be just a one off series of pieces I’m doing for myself

I hate to say it y’all, but as far as capturing that old anime aesthetic, I think painting it physically on cels then capturing it with a kind of shitty camera is the best way to do it 😬😬😬

An ask I had left languishing since November of 2023 (sorry!) - this was something I knew how to answer but I kept forgetting to check the results of Calgary's Hot Chocolate Festival until this year. Here are the winners! It seems Cal had a fondness for Mississippi Mud-style hot chocolates this year.

Calgary-area people- were you able to try any hot chocolates this past February? What were your favourites?

Sorry for the neglect of the ask box, I have some more research heavy stuff to clear up that probably won't get addressed until after I hit this big deadline for work, but then again I do need the practice so I might do some asks as a form of procrastination :)
