Finally a real post...Clergy confessionals

I have been shying away from sharing my own personal views about life on this site, reblogging memes and images that speak to my current stress as a student and a person. However, I realized that in order to fully reveal my mash-up brain, I must purge and cleanse. It is my hope that someone in the tumblr-verse will read my occasional rants/processing session and may get some insight or feel some relief.

I love God. I love serving others in the name of my convictions but CONFESSION #1: I HATE CHURCH. I know this sounds crazy for a clergy person to say but it is so true! On the greatest day of the liturgical calendar, I had a wardrobe malfunction: I bought a suit and realized this morning that the bottoms were smaller than the top. Of course, I had no time for a plan B (we had a set color scheme today) and to change my mind. So, I made  a feasible plan: as long as I pull my skirt down, I’ll be fine. It’ll be okay.

WELL at the end of my lovely Resurrection Sunday, the Elder of women (RME at all these factions and titles…honestly, I hate it) sends an email about dress code and comes for me. Here is my thing. I admitted to another elder that it was a mistake that could not be rectified in time. As an Elder of all the women, it would seem to me that you would ATTEMPT to deal with the fact that half of the women are catty and rude, the other half don’t feel whole without something between their legs. The single women are continually chasing after marriage and the married women are not making too much noise in the happiness department. How does what a woman wears does not reflect her views on God? Fashion like anything else is something that changes and grows.

I am the first to admit that sometimes, leaders are so entrenched in doctrine that they miss the stuff that really matters, real life stuff that has NOTHING to do with a hem line. The performance of “Church” exhausts me. The more I feel my faith maturing, the more I realize how I am soooo over church. Come on leaders, we have bigger fish to fry than a lady’s hemline. GET YOUR LIFE.
