Zelda 2 comic sneak peek

I took out my old full-length Zelda 2 comic draft and chose a segment to make a short comic out of. It's missing context from the whole grand narrative of the entire story, but I think it gets the point across.

There were a couple potentials, and I ended up choosing the scene where Link discovers that his blood is the key to awakening Ganon. It's the most well-known plot point of the game in the LOZ fandom in general, besides the Prince of Hyrule plot. Throughout the comic, Link gets attacked by various monsters during his quest. He thought Hyrule was incredibly dangerous for merchants and travelers, but found out that it was only him encountering monsters at a high rate, thus targeted (that is not discussed in this short comic). This disturbs him a lot. And this is the scene when he discovers why he's a target. It's more than the monsters seeking revenge.

At some point in the game, the player is made to travel towards south-western Hyrule and use the Hammer on dueling peaks to enter and get a magic potion. You specifically enter the peak that is originally Level 9 in Zelda 1. I found that to be very... interesting. And suspicious. Why did the developers think "Okay lets have Link go back to the traumatizing final boss place from the first game to retrieve an item :D" It's kinda epic honestly and it gave me the idea: For the full comic, I made it that Link follows rumors and travels down there in the hopes of finding the magic book containing the revive spell, which is game-changing for the rest of his journey. Being the adventurer that he is, Link takes the risk and goes there thinking the place is long-abandoned and that Ganon probably no longer exists. Except, that isn't the case. (Okay I must add, after the revelation, Link loses his adventurous spirit and gets very serious with his quest. No longer enjoys exploring, which is all this Link is about. He starts developing Big Fears. This eventually spawns Dark Link. I wish I could make the entire comic but I know I can't T-T I should probably finish up and polish the draft and post it online for whoever is interested in a deep dive, lore-intense Zelda 2 story reimagining.)

It's the first time I do a 10 page comic, so I'm going through a learning curve right now xD It's going to be experimental, but I hope you enjoy it still. Here are some WIP shots. Still a while before it's completed.

whats so funny to me is capcom getting the general details wrong of every single country state landmark culture whathaveyou in their games EXCEPT louisiana. Louisianas genuinely just like that. They nailed the fuck out of louisiana it got to the point where i left marguerites section and got into the swamp with the cypresses and i suddenly wasnt the least bit scared anymore. louisianas actually just like this. We really do have bugs that size. The crackheads that live down the street make the exact pose marguerite did in her bug form. Most of them might be scarier. We all own chainsaws and axes and we 100% do leave weapons and ammo lying around. The little black creatures are just alligators on their hind legs. One of my friends technically lived in a manor like the bakers but it was so dilapidated that they only lived in three on the rooms. One of the rooms was a bug room. Bugs lived there. I know the bakers personally i had them over for dinner just last week a little odd but you know who am i to judge? Ik chris redfield got the call for duvey and he was like duvey where. Louisiana?? Again?? Seventh time this fucking week. He just left the state three hours ago.

YAY I made my RMOC, [Mr. Sea] a playable custom skin/character in MAGMML3! (Make a Good Mega Man Level 3, it is a MASSIVE fangame full of massive fanservice and customization/accessibility. I've been having a lot of fun and plenty of laughs playing it!)

Shoutouts as well to my lovely friend @jashuon for helping me out with the horizontal + vertical spinning sprites!! They look amazing! Give him a follow too, he's very talented :)

sooo... finally, here's my Cater cosplay~! ◆

there are a number of things I plan to change about it in the future (ex. tidying up the gold trim and actually sewing it on, changing the buttons on the jacket, making a proper pocket for the pen, etc), but I'm pretty happy with how it ended up turning out!

A Retrospective on Ja'Marr's Rough Rookie Preseason (and How Joe Was There for Him Throughout)

Ja'Marr on The Pivot: I just wanted to get in where I fit in, just slowly make my mark and show the guys around me I could still play... Joe even knew that I was getting too hard on myself but Joe was just telling me like, 'I know what you can do, just get back in the rhythm, play your game, and you know we're gonna take off from there.'

Ja'Marr on Pat McAfee: It had a toll on me, it was a little mentally draining, knowing I was getting attacked just getting into the league... it just took a little minute for me to get back into the rhythm of things, get used to the offense again and once all that was coming on, I wasn't really worried about it. Joe helped me pick myself back up and get back on the road.

9. What historical era or fictional culture is your favorite for men's costumes?

I have a few answers to that question!

I really like the men's costumes from the Lord of the Rings movies, which is why I included fictional cultures in that question. Everything from the hobbits' jackets to the elves' robes, but especially the shirts (or mail shirts) with the long front-closing surcoats worn over trousers by the human men.

I also feel the appeal of the classic menswear of the first half of the 20th century, which kind of reached its climax in the 1930s. I actually catch myself drooling sometimes at the cut, the heft, the drape of some of those suits. It's hard to find anyone who doesn't look good in them.

Then, for a more obscure choice, I just kinda like this look, from the fifteenth century. The LOTR costumes are not a million miles off from this silhouette, actually, although without the double sleeves.

And finally, who doesn't love a well-turned-out Regency gentleman?

discovered this little crevice in my dream a few weeks ago. I like how it looks like a little passageway. This and a few other images I have are much older than the first ones I shared. I decided I should share them here 'cause it's interesting to see how many different ways the mountains form.

Nightopians really like hanging out on the side of the mountain for some reason.

A good look at the trees. I always assumed these trees come from Helen's dream, the crystal castle one. I could possibly be wrong though, but if i recall correctly, crystal castle is the only dream I can think of that has trees like this. The bark sorta reminds me of different colored crystals or something similar to what crystal castle has in its stage design/aesthetic. could be wrong, and they could possibly be just random trees for my dream though. lol. Just in case though, I do play Helen's dream, mostly that dream in particular often next to will's desert and mountain dreams.

also, two little bonus pics of the nightopians and what my dream looked like when it snows. Interestngly enough, the mountains look a little different during winter weather. maybe it's to give it the look as if it's covered in ice? I guess that makes sense. I always saw the other mountains with a sand and gravel-like design to them. They kinda remind me of desert mountains, but I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be valley mountains. *insert thinking emoji here*

I like how the nightopians like to hang out next to these mountains a lot. lol.

also, if anyone has any idea as to how to get that one harp medal/badge let me know. I'm sorta thinking that maybe you have to play the forest of memory dream in helen's campaign for lots and lots of hours, but this is just me making a wild guess since that dreams theme is heavily related to music. love the design for that dream though. i like the little windows on the trees and the tulips, and the way it looks when you turn the dials.

unless you get the badge from the nightopians. i think they also play instruments sometimes? i haven't seen this when playing the game myself, but I have seen pictures of it floating around the internet. I think they will sometimes play the violin? maybe it depends on what time of the year it is probably. im not sure if they can play instruments though. I have been playing this game since around the time or a bit after its release, but I was like 9 or 10 or so when it first came out, and I wasn't very good at the game and didn't know how to play it, so i didn't play my dream long enough to notice that the pians do different things depending on what season it is. my brothers and I also rented the game from gamefly back then through mail, so we only had about a month i think to play it 'til we had to return it. lol.

luckily, due to me remembering how much fun I had with it back when i was younger, I decided to get it again. got back into NiGHTS thanks to me remembering this game and wanting to play it again.

I also own a copy of the Japanese release of this game which I got as a gift during the holidays.

Back update! Further talking to my sister and she says this really sounds like a disk issue so I might have a slightly bulging disk. Good news is that with rest and caution it should get better on its own but I do need to be really careful with it for the next month or two or it will become a major problem potentially. Good times. Fun times.

Because 1, that defeats the purpose of the exploration! If the problem is solved immediately, where's the story? And 2: CD is one of the games I have not played, but I've been informed that the time travel mechanic therein was isolated to Little Planet and the associated places. Something to do with Time Stones, which I'm not employing here. Just rings, Chaos Emeralds, and a little dose of reality destabilization. You know, normal things!
