Rough Start
(Tobias Carrick x F!MC) in a Choices Open Heart One Shot
Rewriting Chapter three of Book One if Tobias was there instead of Ethan Ramsey
A/N @jerzwriter what have you done to me? Making me rethink everything 😂 Keep it up 😉

"It doesn't feel like I got any sleep at all last night." Sienna whispered. "I was too excited about finding us a place."
"Me too." Chris whispered back. "I can't wait to check out that place you found. If it has a bedroom and an actual full bath, I might break down and cry and then offer you my first born for finding it."
The two drew stares from their fellow interns when they began to giggle. They quickly sobered when Zaid glared at them and patiently waited for a late Dr. Carrick to join the group.
"Here he is!" Ines exclaimed with a little relief. "Good morning, Dr. Carrick."
"Dr. Delarosa." He grunted in greeting. "Dr. Mirani."
He leveled his furious gaze upon the interns.
Chris was shocked that this was the same man she'd met the day before. There was no encouraging smile, no humor, nothing but an irritated aura of anger radiating off of him.
"Are these the ones I have to listen to?" He grumbled.
Ines's jaw dropped. She quickly recovered when he cocked an impatient eyebrow at her.
"Yes." She stammered. "These are the new interns."
"A friendly reminder." He said to the group. "Everyone you're about to tell me about was alive when they came in. Think about that before you decide on any type of treatment."
"That's encouraging." Chris drily remarked to Sienna.
"Something you want to say, Valentine?" Tobias narrowed his eyes at her.
Chris could feel her temper snap. Biting back a scathing retort, she forced herself to speak calmly.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do."
Ines gasped and shook her head no at Chris from behind Tobias's shoulder. Even though it was rare to see, she knew to give Dr. Carrick a wide path when he was in a bad mood.
Chris ignored the warning. "I think it's unfair of you to try and shake our confidence before we've even had a chance to present our patients."
Her gaze never wavered from his.
"Shouldn't we at least have an opportunity to prove how good we are?"
Tobias folded his arms. He allowed the silence to stretch making everyone squirm, except Chris.
"Okay." He jerked his head towards the east wing. "Since you're so eager to prove yourself, Dr. Valentine, let's start with your patient."
Head held high, Chris walked past him and led the way to her patient's room.
Refusing to show anything other than her best professional manner, she presented her case. She didn't wince once as he barked out questions about the internal bleeding and the way she and Landry were treating it without surgery.
Tobias's irritation seemed to double the more he listened to Landry stutter on about needless information.
Without a word of praise, he left to hear all the others.
Chris sagged against the wall outside of her patient's room when he left with the other interns.
"What the hell is his problem?" She mumbled.
Marlene paused on her way in to check on another patient. "He probably didn't get laid."
The nurse snickered, glancing back over her shoulder to make sure he was nowhere near to overhear anything she was about to say.
A startled laugh escaped Chris.
"Really?"
"That's my guess. Danny also saw him covered in coffee when he first came in. I think he's had a rough start to his day."
Her eyes twinkled with humor. "No sex and no coffee can make Dr. Carrick a very angry little boy."
Chris struggled to keep from laughing as she hurried to rejoin the others. It was difficult to do during the rest of the rounds, especially since every biting remark made her believe what Marlene said.
The no sex scenario seemed likely. After all, she saw him leave by himself last night. It was a shame he'd insisted she think about what kind of relationship she could handle. They'd both probably be in more relaxed frame of mind.
When he glanced at Chris, she smiled at him. He blinked, momentarily forgetting what he was going to ask Elijah about his patient.
Shaking his head to clear it, he dismissed the group.
"Not you, Valentine." He called out. "You have one more patient."
"Is it you?" She couldn't resist teasing.
"Excuse me?" Tobias knew he shouldn't be surprised by anything she said, but it still made him almost trip mid step.
"Is it you?" She repeated. "Are you my patient."
"No." He was unable to think of a witty response.
"That's a shame." Chris followed him down the hall. "You look like you could use a doctor."
Tobias spun on his heel to face her. "I know I'm going to regret this, but why do I look like I could use a doctor?"
"I don't think just any doctor will do in this situation." She tapped her chin as if seriously considering the problem before her.
Tobias found himself lost in her humor filled eyes.
"Maybe you need one who can prescribe you the right medicine." She added.
His eyebrow lifted. Folding his arms, he leaned against the wall to wait on her to elaborate. A part of him knew where this was going and he was dying to see just how far she dared to go.
"So? What sort of medicine do I need?" He asked. "I'm perfectly healthy at the moment."
Her eyes darted down his body. "No argument here."
He snorted, unable to keep his smile from appearing. "Then I think we agree I don't need any medicine."
He led her into another patient's room and introduced her. After a quick consult, the pair walked down the hall together once more.
"You do need something." She argued. "It isn't something I would prescribe to just anyone, but you definitely could use a dose or two."
"And that is?" He prodded.
"Coffee." Her smile grew when he groaned.
"No thanks." He responded with a slight shudder. "Coffee and I had a major falling out this morning."
"I heard." Chris clucked her tongue in sympathy. "How bad was it?"
"It went everywhere." Tobias replied. "All over me and the interior of my car. I could have handled it all over me, but I'd gotten the car detailed yesterday."
"That is awful." She tilted her head, studying his profile. "But coffee is not the only thing I'd prescribe for you."
Here we go, he thought with anticipation.
"I'll bite." He said with his typical smirk.
"I bet you would." Chris whispered.
He cleared his throat and looked pointedly at her. "What else would you prescribe me?"
"A time machine." She promptly answered.
"What?" He stopped in his tracks.
"A time machine." She repeated. "To go back to," she glanced at her watch, "about ten and half hours ago."
"Ten and a half hours?" He mumbled.
"See, there was this moment when you could have had a dose last night of your needed medicine." Her smile turned flirty. "Probably a few doses."
She stepped closer and tapped her clipboard against his chest. "If you'd have given in to what was before you, you probably wouldn't have snapped at everyone you encountered today."
She walked off, casting a final wink at him over her shoulder.
"Might want to consider that the next time you're offered the right kind of medicine, Dr. Carrick."
A slow smile formed as he watched her walk away.
"I'll consider it." He said mostly to himself.

Rock On
Premise: Sienna and Cassie meet an international rockstar.
Book: Open Heart Characters: Sienna Trinh, Cassie Valentine (F!MC) and Raleigh Carrera from Choices' Platinum Rating/Category: Teen. Fluff. Words: 795
A/N: I got the idea for this fic from @creativepromptsforwriting Rockstar AU prompt list (#2). Tagging for reblog to @creativepromptfills. I'm using @choicesflashfics week 25, prompt 3 (in bold.). Submission for @choicesmonthlychallenge March prompt "Good music"

The two interns never thought their shift in the hospital would turn out like this. With an international rockstar with a broken arm in front of them because he tried to stage dive and failed.
Doctors Sienna Trinh and Cassie Valentine were on floater duty this week, covering other residents on vacation. Sienna loved it when their rotations synced up. There was no one else she’d rather partner with than her bestie.
Halfway through a twenty-six-hour shift, their senior resident, Dr. Zaid Mirani, ordered them to report to the Emergency Department. He waited for them just inside the doors, his face dour as usual.
“Trinh, Valentine,” he barked, handing them a tablet. “Trauma bay one. I want this patient handled quickly and quietly.”
Sienna nodded, but her hand shook slightly as she gripped the tablet. Zaid seemed to have that effect on her sometimes.
Zaid’s face became even more dour if that was possible. “If I see anything about this on Pictagram, you will answer to Chief Harper and the ethics committee. Understood?”
“What’s up his butt?” Cassie said, rolling her eyes at Zaid’s retreating back.
Sienna glanced up from the screen, her brown eyes wide with excitement. “Cassie! Our patient is Raleigh Carrera. The rockstar!”
She squealed as she handed Cassie the tablet.
“No fucking way,” Cassie gasped, scanning the patient intake form. “One of my most memorable make-out sessions was to his song, Famous. The man’s a walking wet dream.”
They walked over to the curtained treatment area generally reserved for severe emergencies.
“He’s certainly featured heavily in my dreams,” Sienna grinned, fanning herself. “And they were seriously NSFW. His voice alone could make me….”
Suddenly, the light blue curtain covering the entrance to the trauma bay was shoved aside. Sienna stared at a burly chest with a large gold necklace hanging down its middle.
But it was the handsome face peeking from behind that made her heart skip for a second. And then her cheeks turned red at the knowing smirk on Raleigh Carrera’s lips.
When he winked, Sienna wanted the ground to swallow her up.
“Always nice to meet a fan, doc,” Raleigh drawled. “Step aside, Frank. This trip to the ER just got a whole lot more interesting.”
When the big security guard moved to the side, Raleigh Carrera reached for Sienna’s hand and tugged her close. “Now, tell me about these dreams of yours, doc. Just how NSFW are we talking here?”
Sienna sputtered in embarrassment and was positive her entire body was blushing. It didn’t help that she was tongue-tied at the thought of being in the same room as Raleigh Carrera.
Up close, his brown eyes were like the chocolate ganache she poured on a cake she’d baked last week. He wore a sleeveless black t-shirt and ripped black jeans, and his signature black denim jacket lay across his lap. He was holding his tattoo-covered left arm protectively against his chest.
When he quirked an eyebrow and grinned, Sienna found her gumption and decided to give as good as she got.
“Very,” she teased, her whiskey-colored eyes beaming with amusement. “Like can’t-keep-our-hands-to-ourselves, set-the-bedsheets-on-fire hot. I’d tell you more, but,” she paused dramatically and then winked slowly. “Good girls don’t kiss and tell.”
Raleigh threw his head back and burst into body-shaking laughter, slapping one hand on his thighs. His mirth was contagious, and soon Frank and Cassie were laughing too.
“I haven’t laughed like this in a long time,” Raleigh said eventually, wiping tears from his eyes and taking deep breaths to control his laughter.
Gone were the bad-boy persona and the teasing smirk. The expression on Raleigh’s face was open and friendly. Sienna thought he was more attractive like this. It was too bad he already had a girlfriend. A talented and beautiful one at that.
“You’re alright, doc,” he said, extending his right hand. “My friends call me Raleigh.”
Sienna shook it and smiled. “Doctor Trinh, but my friends call me Sienna.” She nodded at Cassie. “And that’s Doctor Valentine. Now,” she continued in a professional tone, “let’s find out if your arm is broken or just badly sprained, and then get you back on tour.”
The next night, Sienna and Cassie watched from the wings backstage as Raleigh Carrera stepped onto a raised dais at The Garden. He launched into his opening number to the soundtrack of a deep bass intro and screaming fans.
Halfway through his set, he crooned the opening line to his song Famous. When he dedicated the song to them by name, a group of dancers escorted the friends onstage and into the limelight.
Sienna and Cassie spent the next five minutes being serenaded by an international rockstar and having the time of their lives being famous.

Grumpy Bear
Book: Open Heart Characters: Ethan Ramsey, F!MC, Zaid Mirani Rating: General Category: Fluff Words: 712 Summary: Casey proves who knows Ethan best as Zaid treats a young patient A/N: Thanks for sending this to me @songsaboutgirls! I still have the kitty one sitting in wait! I promise I will get to it too! Thank you for thinking of me! A/N 2: Participating in @choicesmonthlychallengejune2022 Day 3, Practice

It was cold and flu season in Boston, and the emergency rooms were overflowing. In fact, Edenbrook’s pediatric ER was filled beyond capacity, so some of the hospital's youngest patients were rerouted to the main ER. It really wasn't an issue. The specialized unit was only opened last year, so the doctors were more than prepared. Even so, a few grumpy doctors who had been happy to see the kids go weren't displeased.
Casey was completing a chart at the nurse's station when she saw Zaid heading her way. His shaking head and furrowed brow made it apparent that he was a little more cantankerous than usual. And that was saying a lot. Casey looked up with a beaming smile, hoping to cheer him up, but it only served to irritate him more.
“What’s going on, Zaid? You look more miserable than usual.”
“Let’s see, we’re currently at 120% capacity. Mrs. Kirchoff in room 7 is trying to make passes at me….”
“92-year-old Mrs. Kirchoff?”
“One and the same,” he grumbled.
“That’s so cute!” Casey chuckled.
“Downright delightful,” he moaned. “Now, to top it off, lovely Miss Rivera in Room 3 won’t let me examine her.”
“Little Amy? Why? Does she prefer a female doctor? I’d be happy to….”
“No, no. It’s not that.”
“Then what?”
“She insists I examine Mauricio before I examine her.”
“And Mauricio is….”
“Her teddy bear.”
“Oh my gosh! That’s so cuuuute!” Casey squealed.
“I should have known,” he mumbled, rubbing his eyes in frustration.
“Well, the patient has to be examined, so how are you handling this?”
“Her parents asked if they could have a moment to talk to her. Let her know that the bear’s exam wouldn’t be covered by insurance or something. I don’t know. I’ll try again in a few minutes.”
“Zaid,” Casey said with crossed arms.
“Yes,” he said, mocking her tone.
“Just go examine the bear.”
“I did not work my tail off to go through med school to examine stuffed animals when we’re at 120% capacity.”
Casey shook her head. “You could have examined the bear twice in the time that it’s taken you to complain about it to me right now. You just need to do it.”
“Do what?” a deep voice bellowed from behind.
“Ah!” Zaid exclaimed. “Thank God! Someone who will empathize with me!”
“Oh, he’s not going to back you,” Casey smirked.
“Would one of you be kind enough to tell me what I’m supposed to be backing… or not?”
With an exasperated sigh, Zaid began to explain the dilemma to Ethan. “So, where do you stand?” he asked when done.
“Me?” Ethan replied. “I stand here. You, however, should be standing in there. If Mauricio requires a quick examination so you can get to the task at hand, which is treating the young girl, then go treat the damn bear.”
“I told you,” Casey chided.
“But… you… I don’t,” Zaid shook his head and turned to Ethan. “Come now, Dr. Ramsey. Tell me you don’t long for a world where we could do our jobs… tend to the patient… the science… without having to do such absurd things as examining stuffed animals.”
“That world appears in my dreams every night,” Ethan deadpanned. “But it’s not the world we live in.”
“Are you saying that…”
“I’m saying that we’re here to care for our patients,” Ethan answered, “to put them at ease.  Just go examine the bear.”
“Fine!” Zaid replied, beginning to accept his fate. “But I’ve never examined a teddy bear before.”
“Luckily for you, you’re not flying solo on your first one.”
“Huh?”
“Follow me,” Ethan said, “I’ll perform Mauricio’s exam. You can observe.”
Zaid was astounded. “You’ve examined teddy bears before?”
“Yes. As well as a few dolls, a stuffed dog, and a stuffed caterpillar that was so small we couldn’t use a stethoscope.  That one was particularly difficult.”
“Should I stand in on this one too?” Casey grinned.
“Why don’t you tend to some human patients, Dr. MacTavish?  I can already tell you’d be exceptional with the teddy bear variety.”
“Ever the diagnostician,” she smiled.  “You happen to be right.”
“I usually am, Dr. MacTavish.  Now.  Dr. Mirani, shall we?”
Zaid shrugged his shoulders in defeat.  “As if I have a choice.”

I was supposed to rest after my classes and then sit with my pile of assignments, but did I do that? No.
Did I spend that time completing my WIPs? No.
Did I spend that time scrolling instagram? Yes. And that's when this idea hit me and I made this completely useless, self indulgent edit.
Enjoy lol! 😂
This is a joke. Don't take it seriously please. 💜
