year-end sugar rush round up 🍭
it’s time for the last round up of 2023. we have made it through another year filled with clownery and love for the boys! as per my tradition in posting year end candy recaps, i am releasing early 31st cause i am gonna be busy with nye shows. i hope you enjoy looking through all the happiness the final month gave us. have a great new year’s eve everyone!!!
Tumblr media
if you wanna look through the past months or year/s then go to this link. 🔗
i’m adding a little exercise to this post tho and ask you, what are your top 5 cpns of the year? please comment or reblog with your answers!
• The tattoo rumor resurfaces ( new clue? )
• Bowing to the crowd as thank you
• 13 fake rumors - from the vault
• potential wedding photoshoot and “superman can’t fly”
• not really cpn but a media account on tiktok posted a video of xz’s appearance in MBS. they used the tags related to xiao zhan for more views, but they included one that has wang yibo’s name on it. 😂 i know that they might have just chosen an already existing tag with xz and wyb name on it and forgot to edit it. but it’s still a funny incident.
• 12/3 ZSWW Fake Rumor ( pre singapore timeline )
• 12/4 fake story contribution ( wolf mates for life )
• Washing candies only make it sweeter
• An example of bjyx being an open secret ( sort of )
photos were going around of a yibo vcr played in a chanel annual meeting in china. we were all happy to see wyb lookin so good and fresh faced, but what we noticed is his top.
Tumblr media
the style of top he was wearing (p1) is very similar to that of GG’s (p2) at the airport when he was flying back to Beijing. it’s probably because the weather is getting colder so they wear this instead of their usual esspensive t-shirts?
the point is it’s kind of like the same-style in a close timeframe from each other. so it seems like their tastes in casual clothes are still very close.
• 12/7/23 Candies ( GQ MOTY + XZS Singapore vlog)
• The GQ MOTY hat was a gift from XZ 🤍 // Part two : I have to say that this has become a favorite one among cpns and has become notorious since so/os from both sides are trying so desperately to wash it. those on xz’s side using rocco’s 227 kadian to dispute everything even if it was their fault they were called out while xz was busy working his ass of shooting LOCH. this is just a reminder that the celebrity is not equal to their fans. whatever drama both sides do to each other, has nothing to do with us and does not reflect the boy’s relationship. 🤍
• Coffee from Singapore CPN ☕️
• All the things that happened Monday Morning of 12/11 which includes the magazine covers, pants, xz going online for a moment etc.
• xiao zhan’s snowman ⛄️
• The fact that WYB was wearing the bone necklace tho hidden during his BAZAAR photoshoot. The ones in focus were of course Chanel, but those who pay attention will see it. A proof of how special it is. Imagine WYB being bare faced and only had stuff that he actually needs, and he decided to keep the necklace on.
Tumblr media
• Not exactly CPN but more of a similarity i love to see. cause Shandong Satellite TV decided to air BAH right after SBMS! We love to see their works not only be shown in online platforms, but also in satellite TV stations.
• Candy Throwback : Alexander Mcqueen shoes, Nike off white & WYB’s missing mole
• 12/15 double attack of stock photos from XZS and YBO. The black and white theme! Anytime these two decide to give us some update is a happy day!
Tumblr media
• Du Hua describes WYB’s looks as that of a rabbit
• Tencent Video All Star Night CPNs 💛
• 12/19 they both went back to Beijing. ZZ was in Shanghai to film and WYB also filmed CCTV stage. The thing is WYB started filming at 2:00 AM and then he was back at the airport to leave at 10:00 AM. They both arrived to BJ so close to each other. CPN is they tried really hard to be back home & be together that day ♥️
• throwback cpn : wyb prepares xz’s room in hengdian (2021)
• their studios posting so close together for winter solstice! tho wyb’s is a preview for his new single, ybo still greeted people.
Tumblr media
• Winter solstice CPNs ( WYB’s song preview and GG’s photoset )
• Clowning about a possible secret message from a 9key code
• “Everything is lovely” similarity from xzs caption and yibo’s new single and more clues like a possible connection to an lrlg post & what looks like a rabbit and character for ox.
• black and yellow similarity!
Tumblr media
• 12/26 WYB EP cpn post ( teaser lyrics )
• FAE : Free and Easy sweater
• Same style of editing between XZS and YBO who we all know are dating ☺️☺️☺️
Tumblr media
• 12/28 candies
• Marie Claire x Xiao Zhan issue 🍭🍬
• Yibo’s new singles : Bystander & Everything is Lovely
• LRLG 12/30 translation and short commentaries
• LRLG responding to cpf comments
• Wang Wang Xianbei 😂😂😂😂
• Similar clothes and Participating in the same single for a nye song
That’s all for now, See you next year!!!! ❤️💛💚

Books of 2023 - A Retrospective
Tumblr media
With 2023 having finally ended, here's a list of the books of 2023 that left an impression on me:
The Psychology of Money. The book seems to follow the mantra of "keep it simple, stupid". A lot of the insights the book provides seems to be simple, borderline obvious. But that's the appeal of the book and a major reason why it makes for such good reading. Morgan Housel is able to translate seemingly obvious financial truths in such a digestible manner that it makes reading the book a joy. With a lot of books floating around purporting financial freedom, Psychology of Money provides a good entry point for sound financial advice.
Pachinko. There's little that needs to be said about this book that hasn't been said already on BookTok or elsewhere. If you haven't read this book already, do yourself a favour and pick it up immediately. Min Jin Lee's intergenerational story of Korean immigrants moving to Japan set during Japan's colonial era in the early 20th century, the novel not only highlights the lasting discrimination Koreans faced and continue to face within Japanese society, but shows how the threads of family and legacy stretch across time and space. Would recommend this to anyone with a pair of eyes.
Shoe Dog. For all the bootstrap entrepreneurs out there, this book should already be on your shelves. And if you aren't looking to kickstart your own billion dollar shoe company, give it a read regardless. An energising memoir about the founder of Nike and his Herculean task to create the ultimate running shoe, Mark Knight makes you feel like you're in the trenches with him as he and his band of misfits take on the sporting apparel world. For anyone wanting to read a David & Goliath story as the underdog claws their way to claim their own space within an already dominated market, pick it up.
Sapiens. I know I'm a little late to the party with this one, but given its size and heft, you'll have to forgive me. Honestly, it's such a sweeping book that's able to condense history, anthropology, and sociology into a forgiving format. For anyone wanting to learn more about the world we live in, and how we came to be as a species, Yuval Noah Harari makes learning about the history of humanity less of a chore and more of a well made documentary. Also, it does boost your cool literary points by at least 10 anytime you mentioned that you read a book on Obama's reading list.
Confessions of an Economic Hitman. For anyone wanting further confirmation of America's deeply self serving agenda in the pursuit of global dominance, John Perkins' memoir as an economic hitman might be worth the read. With settings and characters akin to a 007 movie, Perkins takes you into the shadowy world of foreign aid as a thinly veiled disguise of neo-colonialism. The memoir dives deep into a setting filled with handlers, joint government partnerships, and coups. Honestly, reads similar to Manufacturing Consent, but with less statistics and graphs which makes it very easy to read.
1000 Years of Joy and Sorrow. Ai Weiwei is truely a singular artist in his own right. From defacing and destroying centuries old Chinese artefacts to make a statement on global consumerism, to investigating the Chinese government's ineptitude in the face of the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, Weiwei has never shied away from his most hard held beliefs of bring voice to the people. 1000 Years of Joy and Sorrow serves a mirror, reflecting not only his own youth and rise to artistic stardom and subsequent imprisonment by the Chinese government, but the life of his father, a young struggling artist in Paris who becomes a political pariah during Maoist China. For anyone wanting to understand the inherent political power art has, or wanting to read a son's ode to a father's sacrifice, this is a must read.

It’s always “nice shoes” not “fuck your nikes they were made in a small room in china, bitch.”
multiple heart pulpatations today. i try not to think too long about it.
The american health system is a joke. I sat in the parking lot of one of the biggest corporations in america. walmart. completely willing and eager to spend my money because society says i need things to survive. I'm sickened. i know why my husband does what he does now. how he manuevers differently across the game of chess we call life.
The rich never need to worry. they can afford healthy food, the best medical care, ANYTHING. and im even sicker. it is some type of modern-day genocide. modern day survival of the fittest. how they continue to get away with it makes me sob.
My job as a woman and a mother is to protect and guide the self-esteem of my children. Self-esteem is absolutely key player. The world teches us a lot about money, doesnt it? who teaches us about confidence and regulation? They have got to realize by now that there is a chain of broken generations hooked together no matter what the differences are. broken adults teaching eager children. FUCK.
I will suffer for them in order to teach them what wealth really looks like, FEELS like. I have touched both money and a blank piece of paper, and they feel oddly the same. If the trees could scream a warning, it would be a blank piece of paper. I leave the fiscal knowledge to their father. Together, we create a dream team.
The system is the country. There is no separation. They want to ruin the repuatations of the "country" folk. Because they are the ones really living some type of "dream". We all live in a nightmare and label it a dream out of scheer denial. I don't feel bad for the poor. They know how to work the system just as much as the rich do. Opposite ends of the septrum. Don't fucking cry for me Argentina because I wont be there. I am busy working in the middle class so both the rich and poor can use me as figurative legs to get through life.
And we wonder why people are angry. there is no need for population control because the system is designed to weed out the weak, maybe not right away, but eventually.
no wonder my heart is pulpatating.
-x

How Nike Basketball’s Signature Athletes Grow the Game Across the World
Tumblr media
According to NIKE
Basketball is a global game, and Nike Basketball is committed to growing that game, fueling its culture, and giving back to the basketball family so it can thrive worldwide. Nike Basketball signature athletes have helped to make that happen with annual international visits, most recently in Greater China, when Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo visited Guangzhou and Beijing with a focus on giving back to local communities.
In the summertime, Nike Basketball invites its signature players to Greater China to meet young players and share personal stories of perseverance to inspire local kids.
Antetokounmpo’s visit was highlighted by the unveiling of a new basketball court at Linfeng’e Elementary School in Guangzhou, donated by the Recycle-A-Shoe program. The unique court was built using donated shoes from players and communities during the 2022-23 season of the Nike China High School Basketball League.
For Antetokounmpo, the Nike Grind court is part of Nike Basketball’s commitment to protect the future of sport and inspire the next generation to discover its fullest potential through the game. In his words, he wants to be a role model for kids, which is why he prioritizes spending time with them on these trips. In sharing his inspiring personal story, he hopes to help pave the way for the next generation of players. He'll also further show his commitment alongside players who have big competitive aspirations; over two days Giannis and his brothers are training in Beijing with an elite group consisting of the China Men's National U16 team and the Nike China High School Basketball League select team, helping them improve their skills.
“I’m thrilled to connect with the passionate basketball fans in China, especially young kids,” says Antetokounmpo. “They are the future of sport. I hope to inspire and encourage them to embrace the power of basketball.”
Core to Nike Basketball’s commitment to the game is the development of grassroots play internationally. Giannis will personally select and train with players out of 40 candidates that best represent his mentality in Guangzhou’s Team Freak Assemble, the final stage of the nationwide Team Freak tryouts for grassroots players. Team Freak will be rewarded with the opportunity to train with Giannis and participate in the tip-off of GGAC program in Beijing. GGAC is an open-run hoop platform designed to provide accessible game times and to progress for players who are passionate about basketball, especially those at school.
Since 2004, Nike Basketball signature players, such as LeBron James and Kevin Durant, have visited more than 20 cities throughout Greater China to promote grassroots basketball, serving local communities and inspiring the region’s next generation of players.

I'm not saying my sister is Edelgard material but
-she demanded to boycott Nike over shoe size availability because "the mens shoes don't go below a 6.5 and the women's shoes are ugly so this is sexism and discrimination".
-she can't cook. The last time she tried to fry an egg it got stuck to the pan. She told me it was the egg's fault.
-She fancies herself the princess girlboss type.
-Apparently really into imperial china period dramas except only if they have girlboss princess warriors
-Good enough at talking that people actually falls for her lies but if you call out her bullshit she throws a hissy fit and gets personal with the insults immediately
-Her favorite shirt is black with red roses.
-She has paler brown hair than the rest of the family and unironically wears it almost identical to Academy Edelgard.
-She thinks Dimitri looks ugly and has issues and also went about 2% racist toward Claude.
-Is used to being the pampered little sister kind of person because she grew up with our cousins and was the youngest at the time so she got very spoiled.

lady grey, from the ask meme
lady grey: favorite outfit
hmmm this is a challenging one! outfits are v situational for me, and since covid i've basically lived in various forms of athleisure. but actual outfits? if casual, i've got these high-waisted, wide-legged black pants that aren't linen but are something like it, and i usually wear them w a crop top (faves are a white nike one and a grey one w the great wall of china). but i also like wearing those same shirts w a red midi skirt. (i have other colors but the red is probably my fave.) and my favorite 'athletic shoe that goes w everything' are a pair of feiyue's. if jacket weather, i have a denim one.

Fieldwork #1: Making Yeezy’s Familiar
Tumblr media
Yeezys are Kanye West Design of shoes produced though Adidas. Yeezys are manufactured in china under Adidas. They come in sneakers, slides , foam runners, boots, hoodies , and coats. I purchased the Yeezy slides (left tan) from DTLR (Downtown Locker-Room) They were 75$ plus tax i luckily caught them when they were released at retail. I purchased the Yeezy boots (middle tan) from GOAT (online shoe reseller) they were 500$ they were completely sold out everywhere so the only way to purchase was through a resale source. I purchased the Yeezy Foam-runner’s (right tan) They were 300$ i purchased them from GOAT as well. Combining all of the seven styles their 280k pairs of real Yeezys in the world . The annual revenue in 2020 was $1.7 billion dollars. The retail for the shoes are 75$ and the retail price is about 2 or 3 times the retail price depending on your shoe size, i wear a 12-13 thats why they are so expensive. The shoes come from they come from a factory , they are mass produced and the workers make under 5$ an hours so they are over worked and underpaid.
History of Yeezy’s
Tumblr media
Yeezy was founded by Kanye West in 2009 ( with Adidas) , Kanye 1st entered the design industry in 2006 he had some unreleased designs , everything he posted only he had them so it was only 1 of 1 pieces. Everyone who was interested in having them could only see him with them there was no way of purchasing them. In 2009 The Yeezy brand / company initially collaborated with Nike he stated with nike for 4 years . Kanye claimed that nike was not paying him enough. He called them out during a concert stating that “ nike treats employees just like slaves”
Tumblr media
After a five year collaboration with nike , Kanye started up with Adidas with the released of the Yeezy 1 and 2 9,000 pairs sold out within 10 minutes. They have always been a shoe that was hard to come by especially at retail pricing , you would have to purchase the shoe for about 2/3 times the amount of the shoes.
Tumblr media
Yeezys are made in china but in 2023 Kanye had ended with adidas and is trying to start creation of his brand here in the United States.
I am what my generation would call a " Sneaker-Head" , i have a different type of style i wear things the normal person would not , i go out my way to go against the normality of male dressing and also bigger male dressing. So Yeezys fit the description very well , they are different , they are weird , so they caught my eye. So only impact i would say they have on my life are they are comfortable and i like them, thats really it they don't have any drastic life changing effect other than for style and comfortablility.
Kanye , Adidas , and the Chinese labor factory's . They have been investigated from a U.S based China Labor Watch . It has been pointed out that the workers may be earning more than minimum wage , their monthly pay of 147 pounds, or $184, is less than a pair of Yeezy Boost sneakers cost 150 pounds or $187 at current exchange. Employees are forced to work overtime in order to make ends meet . on average clocking 10 hour shifts six days a week , and they must arrive 15 mins early . After being exposed Adidas said it is “fully committed to protecting worker rights and to ensuring fair and safe working conditions in factories throughout our global supply chain.” Then The German company also clarified that take-home wage consists of the monthly wage plus benefits such as performance bonuses, meal allowance, living allowance and seniority bonus. so life has improved for them than the last couple years , but things could still get better.

FieldWork:#1 making Yeezys Unfamiliar
Tumblr media
Founded in 2009 Kanye started to change up the sneaker designs. we all know what yeezys are and who created them. “Yeezys” are classified as adorned sneakers, but "Kanye has grown the Yeezy brand to include a clothing and accessory line, while also expanding his footwear line to include shoes like boots and heels. Beyond this, Kanye has grown the Yeezy brand through key partnerships with some of the best designers in the industry like Louis Vuitton, Nike, Adidas, and APC. His partnerships have spanned different lengths of time, with his Nike partnership lasting for five years, and his partnership with Adidas being ongoing. After a five-year collaboration, and after the release of the Yeezy I and Yeezy II sneaker designs, "Kanye ended his partnership with Nike". This came right after the release of the Air Yeezy 2s. Instead of paying royalties for Kanye’s designs, Nike decided to donate his earnings to a charity of his choice. After leaving Nike, Kanye was approached by Adidas, who, unlike Nike, offered to pay royalties for his designs (a 15% wholesale royalty). For Kanye, this felt like more of a true partnership between two brands. I’m current day after Kanye launched his Yeezy Season I clothing line, Adidas chose to end its partnership with Yeezy clothing. Adidas cited that this was because they wanted to focus entirely on their Yeezy footwear line, rather than splitting their focus. "
Tumblr media
Where were Yeezys manufactured?
Yeezys are manufactured under Adidas in China, but Kanye West has been aiming toward moving Yeezy production to the US, Adidas makes most Yeezys in China. You will find a “Made in China” tag in most pairs of Yeezys. Nonetheless, Adidas began Yeezy production in Germany through the Yeezy 450. By 2021, Kanye West has aimed toward moving Yeezy production to the US.In 2020, Adidas earned an annual sales revenue of $1.7 billion from Yeezy. Real Yeezy are mostly made in China. After the Adidas acquisition, Yeezy are now manufactured in Germany as well.On the other hand, Kanye West proposed to make Yeezy in the United States. Consequently, Adidas makes Yeezy in the United States as well.
Tumblr media
The impact Yeezys have one me
I’d say that Yeezys have a big impact on my life because I’ve been collecting them for a while now. I’ve become fascinated with the brand and how it’s different. Also, the vision behind them and how Kanye had an idea and turned it into reality not caring about what others had to say about it. Normally when people buy shoes they just go based off of look but when I buy Yeezys I really think about Kanye and the messages that he’s trying to put out and also they remind me to also be yourself, You never should worry about what the next person has to say about what your wearing it’s either you like it or not it doesn’t get much more simpler than that. Also, they have an impact on me in a fashion sense because I have a lot of them to put with different outfits and I can just try new combos out.
Who are the people directly involved with making or manufacturing this item? What is life like for them?
Reports of Chinese factory workers going underpaid have increased over the past few years. A consistent income is promised to many employees when they are hired as temporary or seasonal workers, especially in rural areas. However, they frequently put in long hours with little to no pay, which causes the impacted workers to live in abject poverty. In many places, there are no labor regulations or labor protections, which makes it easier for dishonest companies to take advantage of their employees. Unpaid labor in Chinese factories has its roots in a larger issue of systemic exploitation in the labor market of the nation. Many international firms have established operations in China due to the country's enormous pool of workers and affordable labor expenses.
