Video description below cut
[Video Description: A tiktok video by _ianstnr_ depicting a man overlayed against a Waterpark with a green screen. The caption reads: Kid me waiting for the giant water bucket to tip over.
The man watches the giant suspended bucket as it slowly fills up, nods, then walks away. Cut to him pretending to be splashed by some friends. He glances at the bucket, but it's still filling, so he goes back to playing.
Cut to him walking around nonchalantly. He looks up at the bucket just as it starts to tip. He zips over to the splash zone, closes his eyes, and opens his arms to embrace the incoming splash. The water drops onto him like a waterfall. When it disappears, he is face down on the ground.
End Description]

I grew up in Delhi since I was 5 and we used to have a lot of power cuts back then and for long hours.. i remember hearing kids outside play, while I would just play with the flame of the candle in the hallway, and can't help but think of all the ghosts that lurked behind the darkness that was galloped by the candlestick luminous. The dark back then was uncertain, uncomfortable, and maybe even unsettling to walk into.
But now sometimes lights blind me so much that my phone is on zero brightness with extra dim on. I like sitting in the dark, it's comforting, a feeling of knowing, and provided me with free space. Yes I can see shadows but can they see me? I can see through them now but can they? So now do they smell my fear or is it just the wax burning now?

In another universe, you grab the rope swing with shaky hands and look out at the lake where all your older cousins are waiting below for you to join them. You are six and terrified. There are no parents around to tell you to get down and you are desperate for approval in every form at your big age. You want to be brave, to be as fearless as your favorite cousin who is all whooping laughter and reckless adventures at age 15.
So you grip the rope as tight as your tiny hands can, take the biggest breath of your life, and jump before you can back down. You learn what flying feels like at six years old with cheers surrounding you when you resurface. You will spend the rest of your life chasing this feeling to no avail.
You will never be braver than you are right now. So get back out of the water, sprint back up that hill and swing that rope across the lake again. You’ll thank yourself later for doing so.

the inner child.
that small child you once were with bright eyes and a laugh that could heal the world. they’re not gone, even on the days when it feels like you haven’t seen them in an eternity. in your heart they live on the playground. that playground is filled with all the kids whose names you cannot remember anymore. their laughs are all that can be heard against the soft buzz of sunshine and eternal childlike joy.

Just a bit of a rant but yashiki overly-sugared coffee actually makes me feel nostalgic:
Back when i was little my dad always stayed up late to organize and remix some musics for each shows he comissioned. I liked watching him worked so sometimes i sat next to him and copied each and every moves he made, including drinking coffee on work. So like a naive idiot, i tried that hot black coffee that sitting next to the organ, and bc the coffee was hot and bitter and strong i spilled the hot bitter coffee all over myself. And yes i hurt myself in the process. Dad didnt get mad eventhough some of the music sheet was stained by the coffee. So he comforted me and gave me a shot of espresso with a amount of sugar that fit toddle me taste for a try. (Which btw the right amount of sugar to mask away the bitterness). That was a detrimental mistake dad made since who’s in the right thought to give a sugary nicotine black water to a kid in the middle of the night? He wasnt the perfect parent but i know he was trying to be at that time.
Anyway back to the present, i liked my coffee flatwhite and cappuchino with sugar ofc
