#i was playing the game and then i had to make dinner #i remember seeing posts about this phenomenon before even playing the game... it inspired me i had to know him #it was so funny i was not trying to think of him at all and his voice actor just appeared in my head doing my secondary narration thing #you know what i mean. when youre doing something so you have a little conversation in your head.#its been like years since ive had a character narrate it for me. the speech pattern is even my best impression of him #dont play video game for hours #disco elysium #kim kitsuragi

The Reva/Vader parallels are killing me

Two people are walking out of the Tatooine desert, approaching the Lars' homestead.

Anakin has chosen revenge over mercy. He has murdered all the relatives of those responsable for his mother's death, including the children. However, despite having failed his family, both the Jedi and his mother, he doubles down on his actions "They were animals so I slaughtered them like animals.", and takes his first step towards the Darkness.

Reva has chosen mercy over revenge. She's been desperately chasing the son of her family's murderer for a long time in order to hurt him, to make him suffer, yet when she stands in front of Luke, she can only see a defenseless child, like she once was. She sobs, feeling like she has failed, and yet she has given her family peace, honored them. She has followed the Order's teachings, she has remembered lessons long forgotten, and Reva takes the first step on the path to return to the Light.

Reva, once again, proves that, no matter how much one has fallen, no matter what you've done, no matter what you've been through, you can make the right choice. It's never too late, no one's ever really gone.

"Have I become him?"

"No. You've chosen not to."

My party members! They love me! They have their own agendas and alliances!)#so of course a healthy portion of this AU is dedicated to them <3 #the Int skills go basically unchanged from DE. Psy as well (with changes to a few quirks in voice).#Fys skills though...well...wwx is in a different body! Those voices belong to Someone Else.#Esp electrochem (MXY in this AU also partied to near death. WWX is withdrawing and craving substances he's never even heard of before)#While I personally don't fully subscribe to Volition Jean I *do* see Volition Jiang Cheng. The voice of your Not Brother keeping you afloat #All three of these parallels make me unbelievably sad. They are also both purple. Art is like that sometimes.#Empathy Jiang Yanli...oh man do I have a lot of thoughts about her. Disco fans Who Know....you can probably see what I'm cooking.#Authority is a really interesting skill in DE because *yes* its about power and intimidation - but it's also about finesse and respect #Titus Hardie and YZY both abuse *and* finesse how they establish their authority - in a way that leaves quite an impression.#2 more mdzs disco posts that I *need* to create and then I'm off to working on raffles <3

kudos to evan for giving almost every one of his characters an accent (even if it's subtle) like he definitely could've gotten away with just using his regular voice for warren or peter but he doesn't! even jay has a certain cadence of speech that's not a part of the typical canadian accent. i really appreciate it bc i'm big on immersion in media and little stuff like this helps separate the character from the actor playing them (and makes the character feel more authentic too). so when you're watching it makes it a bit easier to not think "oh that's just evan peters in a silver wig" like no that's peter maximoff.

See what I mean about their voice acting? They mimic each other's in-character vocal inflections perfectly.

#sonic boom #sonic the hedgehog #eggman #mike pollock #roger craig smith #gushing #i love freaky friday-styled episodes #gives the actors a chance to show their skill by playing each other #and generally speaking if they're really good actors they usuallly nail it #and mike and roger certainly nailed it #mike especially #eggman's voice isn't too different from the games #a little more comedic and whiny but mostly the same #so roger didn't have to compensate quite as much for the difference in character #(which is not to say that roger doesn't do an amazing eggman impression #he certainly nails the diabolical evil genius thing throughout the whole episode)#but boom sonic sounds different than any other sonic #he's pretty blase and 100% done with everything all the time #and mike even brings THAT into the voice #sheer genius

Sonic media don't make Eggman a joke because you need to prop up another villain as a credible threat challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)

#postatoes #keep thinking about this idea i've had #about ar tonelico's us marketing #... like. the marketing for 1 alone was SO bad like #i think it would just be interesting looking at how the game was advertised vs the actual appeals of the game (in my eyes)#i dont know if better marketing would have helped but #like. one of the official trailers has lyner using an attack that COMPLETELY fails to land a hit on the enemy like.#why would you use that footage #and the way it cuts from song to song doesn't really let you enjoy the music which is SUCH a big appeal of the game #also. okay i think they should've used more character voice lines #shurelia always sounds a little stiff so it gives a specific impression of the voice acting
