Yessss yes yes yes
i think we should start taking beloved archetypes for male characters and using them to make female characters. this woman is an asshole with a heart of gold. this woman is a loveable goofball. this woman is a cool but scarred lone wolf who just wants to protect people. this woman is a badass con artist who is always seen wearing an immaculate suit. this woman is a dilf

I hope you guys know that I am aware that Dust/Murder sans eyelights are not constantly red/cyan. I am aware. I know when he isn't using his magic. It's just white.
I wanna give you my reasoning why I don't draw him like that
1. He's never feels safe.
That's it.
He always tensed. He's never been relaxed enough to let go of his magic.
Why would he want to anyway? He needs to constantly burn it anyway. Right?
Actually, constantly using his magic is the reason why he needs to burn it out so much.
If he has it constantly activated, it'll continuously produce magic to restore what is lost. This leads to the overabundance of magic in his system. He's not always wasting it, but he's always using it. His body and mind THINKS he needs the magic. So it's rapidly replenishing what it thinks is needed for an emergency. If he just let it go, it'd build up slowly rather than rapidly pouring magic into his little body. It's also why he's so irritated. He's always tensed and on the verge of snapping at someone.
It's like leaving your phone on when your on an application. It starts to heat up. Unless you turn it off, it won't cool.
Dust is so paranoid that he thinks everyone is out to get him, even when he sleeps.
The only time he ever let go of his magic is with Killer. And god, he's never doing that again. Especially after what he did. Everyone's just proving his point. Being vulnerable is a ticket to death. As much as he'd want to die, he would rather die in his home. Not these disgusting replicas or twisting worlds that taunt him as he scrambles out of them.
Dust just can't catch a break. No matter where he is or who he's with. He rather die then be caught vulnerable and fragile in someone else's arms.
I guess that's why he conflicts with Horror so much. Horror wants to attend to and affirm. He doesn't mind vulnerability or weakness. It's a sign of trust. And Dust despises that idea. Because every time Horror lets Dust point a gun to his chin, there is no struggle. And Dust worries that one day, he won't stop himself from puling the trigger. Horror trusts him, even if it'd be the death of him.

Number of Goblins, ranked
One Goblin - That's just a goblin. He's probably just getting his groceries or something. Leave him alone, you asshole.
Ten Goblins -- That's a fairly normal amount of goblins. There's generally around ten goblins in any given situations. They're just here for aesthetic, so you know it's a fantasy world. Remember to tip them when you leave.
One Hundred Goblins -- Ok this is too many goblins, but this is a reasonable amount of too many goblins. Like, this is maybe an army of goblins or something? My point is that they're probably here for a good reason. Best not to mess with them, they're likely load-bearing in some way.
One Thousand Goblins -- This is probably a goblin town, in which case this is really more a case of One Human, which is a completely different list only available on goblintube. If not, all these goblins are lost. Return them to the goblin town. The orcs are worried.
One Million Goblins -- A million goblins? I'm not sure I've even seen a million things in my life , and now there's a million goblins? That's, like, all the goblins. Why are you at a convention of all the goblins? Are you a goblin? Actually, no, that would make sense. Yeah, that's probably what's going on here. Sorry you had to find out this way.
One Billion Goblins -- Ok, look, at this point you have clearly been sent to a future time where humanity is extinct and goblins have inherited the earth. I can think of no other explanation for a billion goblins. This sadly means that you're the weirdo, and you have to go be a cryptid now. At least you can find a phone and read the goblin creepypastas about you.
One Trillion Goblins -- How? What is happening? This is more goblins then there are birds, and they'll all in your house? How is your house this big? Wait, forget the goblins, how is your house this big? Are the goblins here to guillotine you? Probably! Move out of your stupid mansion and let the goblins have it, you weird rich bird-hoarding freak.
One Quadrillion Goblins -- One quadrillion? I'm only like 80% sure that's even a real number! Luckily, you won't have to deal with a quadrillion goblins for long, because soon they'll collapse together under their gravity, forming a far more manageable single planet-sized goblin. Picard's not gonna be happy about this one!
More Goblins -- Fuck off, you do not have more then a quadrillion goblins. Why are you lying? Are you worried I won't like you if you don't claim to have an implausible number of goblins? Don't worry. Your worth is not dependent on your goblin numbers. Go back to the actual number of goblins secure in the fact I love you, no matter how few goblins you have <3

Robot-girl who was "rescued" (stolen) from the military and is trying to adjust to a normal lifestyle, but still uses military speak sometimes (e.g referring to building exits as "extraction points", referring to time using "XY00 hours" thing, calling every vehicle a "transport") and also her original creators are tracking her down so they can factory-reset her. And also the person who rescued her is also her girlfriend now and their adventures take them to lots of really beautiful locations where they can do standard romantic-montage stuff.

You pilot a Lich. You swear you used to pilot something else but everyone else tells you you've always piloted a Lich.
One time you checked your license timeline. Surely your old frame should still be recorded there, along with the date you gained your Lich license. You've had a Lich license for longer than the city of Rome existed.
Your NHP also remembers. She's pretty sure she used to be good at targeting missiles, not disrupting the flow of time. But you're pretty sure your old mech didn't even have an NHP. Did your Lich always have one? You're not sure. She says she's known you since childhood. You're pretty sure you weren't a pilot until you were an adult but who even knows at this point.
Do you even remember a time before piloting? Are you even sure you weren't always piloting?

A wizard that uses fresh mozzarella for his pondering orb. He wakes up every morning to make a new batch of mozzarella and when he splits it open to eat it, he divines the future from the shapes he sees within the cheese.
The pizzas he makes with these cheeses can give visions of the future, but mostly it just helps people guess the flavor of ice cream planned for dessert.

Schadenfruede
Here is an emotion called Schadenfreude, an emotion that's described as feeling enjoyment after seeing someone's misfortune! Schadenfreude might sound mischivious and cruel, but he's just a giant goofball who has no sense of social ethics LOL!

SO, I made my own tragic legendary sea cookie since that seems to be the theme for devsis in between comms-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beneath the dark, forgotten waves of the west sea, amongst a once bustling and colorful coral forest is it's sleepy monarch; Grand Reef Cookie. A jolly, yet strangely complaisant individual who spends his frail, doddering years tending to the decaying remains of his children's once proud homeland.
They have all left, of course. Some more hesitant than others to leave their loving father's side. But, Grand Reef Cookie was insistent of their retreat. That, unlike him, they were not bound to their namesake in soul and body. That the ocean held much more plentiful and vibrant sights that were not to be wasted fretting over a forgotten relic of the past. That doesn't stop many from visiting though... Bringing with them trinkets and offerings to help alleviate his wistful loneliness.
But, unlike some of his children, Grand Reef doesn't harbor any resentment for cookies. It's just not in his nature to harbor any hatred for... Well, anything, really. A reef is meant to be a nurturing and peaceful place for even the most ruthless apex predator, to be unwelcoming and unkind to even one creature would go against his very nature. ________
Why be a betrayed and/or volatile tragic, when you can be a sweet, hospice patient kind of tragic? That, and sea pollution and global warming tragic, I mean it's right there-

Superheroine Idea: A heroine whose powers are seasonal
Plant powers in spring
Fire powers in summer
Wind powers in fall
Ice powers in winter
But! Her moral alignment also changes. She's a classic hero in spring, an anti-hero in summer, a morally ambigious character in fall, and a straight-up villain in winter.
She often has to start every spring undoing the damage she'd done in the previous winter.
Her given name would be Demeter, and her alter-ego would change with the seasons, too.
Spring Cleaner
Summer Soldier
Fall Fouler
Winter Breaker

Alternatives for "they rolled their eyes".
aka facial expressions/body movements to show annoyance/exasperation.
*warning bad writing; these are just ideas.*
*ideas are not separate and can be combined.*
• Their smile became strained.
• A hand came up to rub their face.
• Their expression fell.
• Their nose scrunched.
• Their forehead creased.
• They frowned.
• They lightly/heavily sighed.
• They deflated.
• Their lips pursed.
• They glanced away/sideways.
• They gave a deadpan look.
• Their tongue poked their cheek.
• They became tense.
• Their shoulders slumped.
• Their foot toed the ground.
• Their knee started bouncing (while sitting).
• Their hands curled into fists.
• They scratched their cheek.
• They took a calming breathe in.
• They looked up for strength.
• They turned/looked away.
• Their eyebrows rose.
• Their eyes squinted.
• Their head shook side to side.
Honorable mention.
• They pretended not to hear.
A/N: Just been seeing a lot of this phrase in books and ff which to me sounds sassy or even rude, which if you're going for that great! Otherwise it sounds a bit out of place. Lmk if you agree or hate me for this lmao. Or have better ideas too.

12 Traits to Give Your FMC That Are GUARANTEED to Make Her More Interesting!
Tumblr media
She has an unlikely set of skills: Stick her with a set of skills or talents that might not pair well with her occupation or personality. Maybe she's a hellish warrior who's a beast at knitting. Maybe she's a wallflower with a four-octave singing voice. The combinations are really endless, and this is a great and easy way to inject some extra charm into her.
She doesn't exactly conform to societal norm views: And I mean this more than just not adhering to traditional gender roles. Maybe, in the scope of your world, she has a set of views that many might consider unorthodox, or maybe she's just a little more "off the wall" with her opinions than the other characters around her.
Identity crisis, identity crisis, identity crisis: Have her balance different roles that seem like they have no business mixing together. Have her face a trial that makes her question everything. Have her wrestle with the skeletons in her closet (literally or figuratively, whatever you think fits her situation better). Not only will this help make her more relatable, but its a great way to give her some internal strife.
She doesn't know who to support: Is she stuck in between two warring families? Or, maybe the will of her superior vs. the will of her beloved? Whatever the struggle is, giving her a sense of uncertainty around who to support can go a long way in terms of her own conflict and keeping reader interest.
A strong sense of justice goes a long way: I LOVE a girl who has a strong moral compass. Give us the girl who's up in arms about serving justice in the way she believe is right. Bonus points if she will do absolutely anything and everything to defend her ideals. Extra bonus points if her sense of justice doesn't exactly seem "kosher" on paper...
...or maybe it's ever changing: But, on the flip side of that, a more flimsy sense of justice--one that almost appears to change with the tide or time of day--can also pique some interest. This is more than just plain grey morality; this is morality that can flip for any reason.
Traits that don't seem to match up: Like the skills suggestion, this encompasses general personality traits rather than skills. Give us the fiercely independent woman that absolutely craves human touch, or the high IQ genius who has no sense of emotional intelligence, or the fearless leader who wants nothing more than to fall to the background. You can really go nuts here, too!
She's obsessed with SOMETHING: Whether its an obsession or an addiction, this is something I feel like I don't see a lot of in female characters. It could be a substance, or a person, or even a concept. Bonus points if she compromises whatever she might be doing to touch on this obsession. Drive it home for us, writer.
Double life, maybe?: Whether its metaphorical or totally literal, this trait is a great way to dig down to her depths and tack on some intrigue with her character. Is she really hiding a secret identity? Or is she trying to reconcile two contrasting parts of herself?
She's confident in her femininity: Look, I love me a woman who defies gender norms and goes against the grain of femininity, but in that regard, I feel like there isn't enough writing about characters who embrace it. That doesn't always have to be falling into gender roles, but maybe she's really in tune with her nurturing side. Maybe she's the picture of grace. Maybe she just really likes dolling herself up and looking pretty. There's nothing wrong having any of these traits, so having her be confident in them could be a breath of fresh air!
She knows her tastes and she knows them well: Is she goth? Is she coquette? Is she all glam? However she rolls, she knows how she wants to look, and she sure as shit embraces it in her overall aesthetic.
She's a leader...and an imperfect one at that: Yes, this is a dig at the classic "Strong Female Lead." The fact of the matter is that even the best leaders are imperfect, so if your FMC finds herself at the front of a rebellion or an organization, really emphasizing her imperfections can give her some nuance that doesn't make her seem totally and completely untouchable.
As always, gooooooooooooo fucking write something today <3
(If you like my guides, prompts, writing, or art, consider supporting the blog today! All donations help me keep this thing up and running and all are appreciated <3)
