Chapter Seven: Thank You

Story Summary: Logan didn’t date or really had any friends but when this strange guy asks him out while complimenting his posterior, he can’t help but be intrigued.

“It’s colder than I thought it’s going to be,” Remus commented as he opened up the trunk. He and Logan were about two hours from their home to stargaze away from the light pollution of their city.

“It will continue to get colder from here on out,” Logan said, pulling out their picknick blanket, snacks and drinks from the backseat. Remus meanwhile carefully lifted out Logan’s telescope from the back.

“Yeah, it’s crazy how fast the time’s been passing. Soon it’s going to be three years since we met. Ain’t that a thought!”

“A lot certainly happened.” Logan’s tone was a bit weird when he said that but maybe Remus was imagining it because a moment later his boyfriend was smiling at him like always. “I’ll set up the telescope. Could you take care of the rest?”

“Of course, Lolo. I’m on it.”

They swapped places, Remus walking over to where Logan had set down the picknick blanket and provisions, and Logan opened the bag containing one of his most prized possessions and carefully assembled it. The sun was slowly sinking below the horizon. Thankfully, they were all set up before its light completely disappeared.

“There!” Logan announced as he finished. He wiped his hands before settling down next to Remus on the blanket. They would eat before it was prime time for observing the cosmos.

“What do you want to have first, Lolo? Sandwiches? Or sausages? Or me?” He blinked at his boyfriend innocently who snorted.

“That was awful. I’d like a sandwich, please. I’m quite peckish.”

They talked over their small dinner, reminiscing on the last years and discussing their plans going forward while the stars slowly came out, creating a breath-stealing view.

It wasn’t the first time they came out to do this, but Remus was in awe every time. Personally, he was more interested in the vastness of earth’s oceans, but he could see why his boyfriend was so taken with the ocean out there.

“I’m so glad we do this every once in a while,” he sighed, leaning back onto his arms to get a better vantage point. “It’s so beautiful and we see it on an irregular basis, so I can appreciate it every time.”

“The universe has always fascinated me and still does,” Logan whispered, lying down next to him. “It was the only time I really tried to change my parents’ minds about what career I could do when I grew up. I thought astrophysicist would be prestigious enough for them, but they didn’t agree. It was a subject they didn’t mind me spending my free time studying at least.”

“Are you sad you couldn’t pursue it in the end?”

“Not really. I still think it would have been interesting and fulfilling but I like the life I have now. I can read as much as I want, the library is a nice place to work, and I met you there. There’s little more I could want.”

“Yeah?”

“Yes.”

“What else do you want then?” Remus asked, quietly. He turned towards Logan, curious to hear his answer. The moon shone brightly enough above them that he could make out the other’s face. Logan’s eyes were fixed on the sky above them, but he had his brows furrowed in that worried expression he got when he was insecure about something.

“You don’t have to answer that, love. I didn’t mean to pry.”

“No. No,” Logan reassured him, giving him a small smile before he pushed himself back into a sitting position. Still a bit worried, Remus followed his example.

“Is there something wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong, I’m just a bit nervous,” Logan explained. Remus raised an eyebrow.

“Why would you be nervous? If you wanna ask me for some sexy outside fun I’m not gonna say no, y’know.”

Logan chuckled and shook his head.

“You’re incorrigible. But no, that’s not what I was going to say. I was going to ask you a question.”

“Oh?”

“Indeed.” Logan twisted until he could reach the now empty bag of the telescope and pulled something out of it. Then he set it between them.

It was a small black box.

Oh.

Oh.

…Maybe he should’ve expected this.

Logan didn’t let himself be deterred by Remus’ probably very shocked expression as he opened the box and showed him the ring inside.

“Remus, you didn’t exactly help me out in my darkest hour, but you definitely brought me back to a version of myself that I believed long lost. Because of you I rediscovered my passions, what it meant to be excited by the small things and how fun life could be. You were there when I needed you and let me take care of you when you needed me. I had all the money I could ever need before I met you and yet you’re the one that showed me what it’s like to be free to do whatever I want. That I didn’t have to hold myself back in the name of logic and reason. That it was okay to just feel sometimes. And I feel a lot of things about you. I love you. And I want to be with you for a long, long time. So, would you do me the honor of marrying me?”

“Oh, Lolo,” Remus whined, tears streaming across his face. “You need to give yourself more credit! You’re so smart and hot and if you hadn’t let me in, then none of this would have happened and that took a lot of courage from your side. So thank you for letting me into your life. Thank you for finding me in the library that day and taking my number. You have made every day since brighter. Of course I’ll marry you, you big dork.”

Remus let Logan slip the ring onto his fingers before he tackled his new fiancé and kissed him until they both ran out of breath.

Logan stroked his cheek, looking at him so fondly.

“I should be the one to say thank you for finding me. Without you, I’d still be so miserably alone.”

“We found each other, okay?”

“Okay.”

“I love you.”

“I love you, too.”

“I can’t wait to marry you.”

“Me neither.”

Logan pulled him down for another kiss and Remus melted into it.

This was his forever now. And he wouldn’t exchange it for anything in the world.

Hello everyone~ with chapter 7 part 2's release, we got Malleus's overblot! And I've gotta say I was a little... underwhelmed. I wanted to see Malleus in a more monstrous Form. I have no qualms about most of the outfit, except.....

the corset was... plain. He had not NEARLY enough scales and he was GREY!! NOT GREEN! The tail was so small and not nearly imposing enough. The end of his tail looked like a weed leaf, we couldn't see his tiddies, and his hair was... short? And so, I took his fate into my hands. It's either corpsing/laughing, misspeaking or even better, saying a line that isn't in there 😭

Mmm, from chapter 1 it was probably Druvis' entrance scene. The heel either fell too quickly, too slowly or straight up dropped on Vertin's head. It was a bit hard to have Vertin catch it with one hand and Druvis to drop it in the exact position. They had a good laugh, especially when it inevitably fell in Vertin's face, poor Vertin, she truly met her mother in that moment.

Speaking of mothers, not nearly as repeated but the "So you have a mother" scene had to be repeated because Vertin would laugh, therefore making Regulus laugh as well.

I believe from chapter 3 there would've been a lot of scenes that had to be done again but I'm not sure which, maybe Vertin fighting with the worms or the end scene because a kid would end up tripping.

Chapter 4 was DEFINITELY Lilya's scene, Mesmer was too scared of the crystal so it had to be made countless times so nothing would harm either actress. And maybe during the 7 hour speech Madam Z had because girl forgot some words. The entire speech didn't appear but you could hear her in the background struggling to remember some words.

And also the ping pong scene, accidents happen.

Chapter 6 surprisingly had few bloopers if you don't count Isolde's obvious pining for Klara every single scene they're in. Oh, and Marcus' stuttering that had to be covered by Madam Hoffman.

Chapter 7 was the silliest. 37 had a rough time not blushing or stuttering and controlling her eyes around Sophia, and during the games to get to Apeiron she slipped and made Vertin fall with her. The scene is somewhere on the internet and they haven't recovered.

Or Kakania hitting the door and then falling forward because of whatever physics followed that door.

(special mention to Jessica in 1.2 for accidentally hitting Blonney on the face instead of helping her up)

Hi, I just discovered misfits and finished reading it all in one sitting and I have to say I absolutely LOVE IT! I love the little bits of wordbuilding of how the toy soldiers work, I love how you characterized the twins! I just absolutely love the concept in general! I just a have a couple of questions if you don't mind answering

1. Do you think you'll ever have any other pokemon characters show up in Misfits? If only as little easter eggs

2. How many chapters are you planning for Misfits to have?

3. Will I get the chance to throw Jawbreaker into a volcano? Or has Emmet already called dibs?

Aw, thank you! I'm glad you liked it!

1. Yes! I have plans for one pokemon in particular. I would like to include the rest as well, but I don't have any specific plans right now.

2. No planned chapter count. I've gotten better at it, but my estimation of how many chapters a plot point will take tends to be wildly inaccurate. So I'm not going to give out any numbers because they will be wrong.

Strictly in terms of plot, with chapter 7 up, we just finished act one of three. However, I highly doubt the acts are going to be the same length as the first. I suspect they will be longer, but we will have to see.

(This is not including the hypothetical sequel. I'm going to be honest, I don't think I'll write the sequel.)

3. Emmet has called dibs, but if you happen to get there first, he would probably congratulate you.
