Ouugh, it's finally done! I sketched out this cover about a year ago, but their clasped hands gave me a ton of trouble and I shelved it-- until a couple of months ago, when I just banged out the hands and then kept rolling from there!

There's a decent bit of symbolism related to the chapter worked in here, as well as a lot of me learning how water works. Detail shots + textless versions below!

#this is inspired by a dream i had that i found quite poignant when applied to the real world #and it's hostility and slowly creeping illegality of simply existing in public space #and was a very fun activity using paint.net's 3d pane tool which i had totally forgotten was literally a base program tool #i also feel pretty proud of the “Our City Safe” slogan with it's implied hostility by saying it's OUR city #and we're keeping it safe from YOU #you being poor/homeless/lower class/minorities/not actively benefitting from capitalism people #i think it says a lot in very little words #my art #my creation #hostile architecture #anticapitalism #third space #street sign

#I honestly think that one of the most enriching and rewarding parts of writing fanfiction is getting to #fully flesh out and explore a character who gets some but not-quite-enough characterization in canon #unless the character is REALLY minor there are always so many threads to pull out and weave into something new #you can even deconstruct the marketing materials! oh this character is only described as 'beautiful'? wonder how she feels about that hmmm #my original post #writing #fanfic #I'm just really proud of what I've been able to do with Miss T. it's almost all right there in the script and lyrics if you'd only look!

you know, love mellows you out, it does, in a way that feels like taking a breath after feeling suffocated, coming home after a long day, opening your arms and settling into a hug, a long and warm one. In a way that allows you to feel settled and safe in your identity, you no longer have to keep moving it around in your hands. It mellows you out when you no longer have to fight to be seen.

Claire: Full on throws herself at Carmy unapologetically and from her perspective, has a perfect relationship with him. / Overhears him say one negative thing about the relationship and has made no attempt to come back into his life.

Sydney: Gives her all to the actual Carmy and the restaurant and has continued to do so, and only walked when he disrespected her a bit more than usual. / Came back after he gifted her a place in a fucked restaurant. / Sydney still deals with the same bs and has a panic attack over leaving Carmy and the restaurant/what she'll choose/the way Carmy has treated her etc etc etc because she cares so much.

I was also supposed to draw his cape floating over sharon to shield her from the sun but...#this whole drawing collection took roughly a month to complete and I forgot. I'm too tired right now #speaking of. it's my first time drawing sharon I hope she's okay!#yes slayer carries and wears in the nose his 200 spf sunscreen from xrds treasure hunt animation :)#as for the big main picture. it left me quite exhausted and I know the lighting leaves a lot to be desired but I'm proud! learnt a lot #first time drawing blue para too. I hope his metallic sheen is alright #more than aba's skin sheen for sure. I'll improve it in the future! btw tweaked a bit her attire's palette from last time and made her keep #the headband cause trying to figure out how her hair would properly fall was a hassle lmao #fun fact: the bird is an european herring gull #the crab is an edible crab and the palm trees are coconut palm trees with no fruit lol #I wanted to draw fan palms which are a kind of palm tree that deserves more love but the leaf shape was so difficult to draw #I did struggle a lot with these two.. they look more like feathers but again. that can be studied and improved in the future #despite all the lows summertime can have for me whenever it's a nice day and we can go to the beach I feel everything is worth it and will #be okay. hope I could translate that here. hi new people I tend to ramble a lot in my post tags #art tag2b named #sharon
