So my personal reaction to Cater's dream was pretty good. Nothing really changed in how I view him or my headcanons for him. Things we already knew that were subtle before, were made clear (He doesn't actually want to be the dorm leader/Housewarden. And was definitely NOT the former housewarden, that theory got debunked hard)

Of all things to be proven right about I was not expecting them to directly come out and say Trey made the pizza. I had to laugh so hard at that. I mean I was fairly certain but there are just somethings you just don't expect to be confirmed right?

Even down to him sending a clone to the party is 100% in line with how I've written him. (I tend to have him send a clone to Lilia's going away party).

He was shown to be kind and caring, which is again something we knew thanks to his possession during Endless Halloween, but it's nice to see reinforced. He truly cares about what happens to Ace and Deuce. And he wants to help.

Overall, I really have nothing to change with how I view him, which I guess is the best thing I could ask for. It means my previous analysis of him was correct for what we know so far.

I do wish they'd have dealt more with his trouble making friends/connecting with people. I feel like that's a huge angle being over looked that would connect him with Malleus, but can't have everything.

Also, DJ Riddle will live on forever in our hearts.

TWST Chapter 7 Part 10 Spoilers

JadeYuu where Yuu shows up in Jade’s dream as a bumbling blushy shoujo character, can someone see this?

Yuu still loses to Azul and gets sea anemoned but Jade benevolently takes Yuu under his wing. Everything he says and does is punctuated with a “Wow, Jade-senpai” and “That’s so cool Jade-senpai” with sparkly heart eyes.

“Jade-senpai I was wrong to try to win against Azul~ I don’t know why I thought that I would win when you’re so strong and cool and smart uwu Please, let me join you in exploring the mountains on land and in the sea for the rest of my life to make up for it <3!”

They go on to show up as a shrimp!mer in the dream and goes “Kyaa >///<” every time Jade adresses them defers to him when dream!Azul orders them and cries to him whenever dream!Floyd chases them.

Okay but Kalim going "I hate that you're so two faced and manipulative" to Jamil, finally admitting his negative emotions, but also saying to dream!Jamil that that's the guy he wants to be friends with, not him, is just peak character development. Before he was blind to the reality of who Jamil actually is and brushed everything off, but now?

The nice, friendly Jamil - the one that's convenient for him - isn't the one Kalim wants around. No, he wants to befriend the real Jamil Viper - the two-faced, cunning guy who betrayed him. He genuinely wants to improve their relationship and see Jamil for who he is as a person instead of projecting what he desires onto him and ignoring the reality that they are master and servant.

Kalim truly cares for and wants to be friends with the real Jamil, flaws and all.

i don't know what the best part in this is: floyd being a menace, the imagery of him flying through the air in flames, riddle vibrating and needing VARGAS and trein to hold him back, jade going boing boing while laughing his ass off or azul pretending not to know the tweels.

Remember when I asked who wanted to see Lilia suffering? Well, there it is! More or less….! Just a little headcanon of mine, I like to imagine that Lilia let his hair grow because of Meleanor and Levan who liked to play and touch his hair.

A little reference to the Mulan scene, I don't think Lilia would cut his hair to "erase" the memories he may have with Meleanor or Levan, in a way, but maybe it could have been a way of dealing with the mourning or was it a way of taking the first step towards change?

(Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember if there was any information that explains the reason for the radical change in Lilia's hair.)

Implications for Heartslabyul from Cater's Dream

I want to cover some of what we learned in Cater’s dream, because while we didn’t learn a whole lot new about him, we did learn some significant information about Heartslabyul before the start of the game. Specifically the previous housewarden (I prefer the term dorm leader so if I slip back into that here, it’s the same thing). We find out that Trey and Cater actually helped Riddle take the position, and supported him in a ‘revolution’. The previous housewarden was terrible, and much worse than what we were led to believe before. It was more than just being lax with the rules, he caused damage to the gardens and abuse to the animals. 

This adds a new lens to view the events of chapter 1. Cater and Trey are not hapless victims of Riddle’s rule just trying to survive, they openly helped bring him into power, and have actively helped keep him there. When Cater asks Trey if he’s really okay with what’s happening to Ace, Deuce and Yuu, it can now be seen with a bit of guilt attached to it. This can now be viewed as partially their fault. It helps put into context why they’d work so hard to help Ace and Deuce out of this situation. 

Leona and Idia warn Deuce that Trey and Cater aren’t as nice as they seem, and are in fact manipulative, and he shouldn’t trust them so easily. Cater is of course offended by this, and states he and Trey really do care about their juniors and the dorm.

It makes the entire situation they were in more complicated because while Riddle’s rule was not good, it was better than what came before, and I think even Ace would have agreed. Cater gets called just one of Riddle’s lackeys in his dorm card and doesn’t really argue against it. And I always thought this was just him not wanting to fight, but he might feel it’s *true*. 

Over all I do intend to explore this new dynamic in the future. It’s nice to have more context to Heartslabyul before the game. It helps explain why Riddle trusts Cater so much and why he respects him if he’s openly had his back since day one.
