isra knows that attending these society events only aid her mission . listen , observe , absorb — words drilled into her psyche from the earliest days of her training . decades ago , now . but what she wouldn't give to enjoy , for every move she makes to not have additional motives , to not hide under layers of deceit . to simply be . if only she could enjoy the music and dance , but until she finds a viable exit from this life , she must endure perpetual internal conflict . as applause for the previous set fades out , isra glances at the person next to her from her periphery first , before turning her head toward them . " how wonderful . i wonder what sort of act will follow … ? " she muses , loud enough for them to hear .

a long day of eavesdropping behind her , isra is eager to settle in , to gather her thoughts . to find respite from the churning of her stomach that performing her duties brings , before she meets with her spies , and shares information they've collected . determined yet light steps slow to a halt , when the figure before her also stops . " oh , " she echoes ( even isra herself can't be certain if it's intentional mirroring or not ) , " i was so lost in thought , i hadn't noticed i was following so close behind you . " a sheepish smile , a silent apology , adjusting the satchel on her shoulder . further worn , from yet another year of usage , but not so weighed down by herbs , only a sketchbook . " somewhere around here , there's a shortcut to fasil ghebbi that i used to know , " she elaborates . there's no guarantee it remains , of course . she reminds herself that a year is more than enough time for a path to become overgrown . " are you returning to the palace as well ? "

not quite strange that simpler garb could allow her camouflage. when one could keep their head bowed and walk with purpose, the noise of the every day provided deflection. and when an event as grand as this gathering occurred --- even better.
şenay takes one deep breath after another. the mountain range looms somewhere past her sight; all she sees before her is the path curling ahead. solace from the festivities; an escape from her family.
and yet, they look behind. always, always looking behind. and their eyes lock on another's, gaze widening. a soft "oh" drops from her lips, hands clenching at her sides.

Israel is arming local militias in Gaza in an effort to counter Hamas in the besieged enclave, officials say, as opposition politicians warned that the move endangers national security.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the covert enterprise on Thursday, calling it “a good thing.” In a video posted on social media, Netanyahu said Israel had “activated clans in Gaza which oppose Hamas,” and that it was done “under the advice of security elements.”
Former defense minister and Netanyahu rival Avigdor Liberman divulged the move on Israel’s Ch. 12 News on Wednesday, saying that Israel was distributing rifles to extremist groups in Gaza and describing the operation as “complete madness.”
“We’re talking about the equivalent of ISIS in Gaza,” Liberman said one day later on Israel’s Army Radio, adding that Israel is providing weapons to “crime families in Gaza on Netanyahu’s orders.”[...]
One group that has received weapons from Israel is the militia led by Yasser Abu Shabab, officials said. Abu Shabab heads an armed group that controls some territory in eastern Rafah and he has posted photos of himself holding an AK-47 rifle with UN vehicles behind him. Though Abu Shabab has denied receiving weapons from Israel, Hamas has accused him of being a “traitor.”

in spite of already taking precautions , waiting for just the right moment , isra sweeps the area for another presence , and ears attune to any sound out of place . only after confirming that they are alone does the court physician speak , " so , not even a theory ? too bad . " she raises an eyebrow , momentarily breaking her calm mien. not making light of the situation , but rather an indication of hers and yujin's connection . each is a fount of information to the other , and nothing more . " could there be … dissent in your ranks ? " she asks carefully . whether in china , or otherwise .

close quarters meant that yujin had known it was only a matter of time until their paths crossed - accidental or, as she suspected given the secluded location, purposeful. expression remained impassive when she turned to face the other woman. ❝ if you are here with questions, ❞ she said in a hushed tone, ❝ i'm afraid i have no answers at the moment. ❞ someone had poured poison into meryem's cup but she couldn't say if it was an act of twisted justice or concealment.

Amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, maternal healthcare faces excruciating challenges. Deliberate and systematic Israeli attacks on hospitals and medical centers, and critical shortages of humanitarian aid, including medicine, have created a crisis that is endangering the lives of both mothers and newborns. The situation is critical. There are an estimated 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza and some 180 births every day. Israel’s decision in October to prevent food, water, fuel and electricity from entering Gaza created a desperate situation. Inadequate nutrition, exposure to cold and hot weather, the absence of clean water, and poor sanitation weigh heavily on the wellbeing of women and children. The circumstances force them to consume contaminated water, heightening the peril of dehydration and waterborne diseases, particularly among vulnerable groups such as expectant mothers, new mothers and young children. Fuel shortages and the constrained capacity of the few remaining medical facilities exacerbate the difficulty for women in labor to access hospitals. Um Amin, a mother with a few children, confronted with the harsh reality of displacement, recounted her family’s struggles during Israel’s aggression. As bombs relentlessly fell on their neighborhood, reducing their home to rubble, Um Amin had to seek refuge at a school run by the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) in the northern Gaza Strip taking only very few belongings. She was pregnant. And in the school there was little by way of basic necessities such as clean water, food or even clothes for her children. She considered moving south, where food might be a little more accessible. Her husband refused, causing conflict between them.He feared not being able to return. And while she believed that the Israeli army was attempting to force them to leave, she also felt it was a matter of life and death for her children. “It was heart-wrenching to witness my kids fighting over scraps of bread. My 4-year-old started stashing away bread in his pocket for later. I was shocked. Before the war, I never slept without knowing my children were fed. Now, most of the time, I am certain they never feel satisfied.” Her entire motivation to carry on became a matter of feeding her children She denied herself food for their sake, but had also to remind herself of the child within her. “The baby inside me is also a priority, so I had to eat too.” She found the balancing act incredibly challenging, an unbearable burden of motherhood. “I am going to share something I’ve never told anyone I know: I contemplated suicide to escape the weight of this responsibility.”
After the Israeli army unexpectedly stormed al-Rimal, a Gaza City neighborhood, for a second time, Um Amin panicked and fled again, this time going from the UNRWA school to a relative’s house. But her fear caused her to enter preterm labor. A doctor, at the nearby al-Sahaba medical center, had to resort to a cesarean section. It was hell, Um Amin said. There was insufficient anesthesia and she could feel the scalpel cutting into her body. There was no electricity; the doctor had to use a handheld flashlight to see. Um Amin’s cries of pain could not drown out the crashing of shells around her. The operation left her utterly drained. She couldn’t believe she was still alive. She needed nourishment to recover what she had lost during the bleeding and to breastfeed her son. But hunger was stalking Gaza. Food was scarce, there was no white flour in the markets, and Israel was blocking aid trucks from entering the north. “All I had to eat was bread made from animal feed and water. When I had my other children, I relied on foods rich in animal proteins, but it was impossible this time. The price of meat was five times higher than normal.” Unable to adequately breastfeed her child, she had to find infant formula. But the price was multiple times higher than it used to be and more than she could afford. Eventually, she was forced to buy formula that was past its expiry date. “You might blame me, but there was literally no other option. I didn’t have enough money. It wasn’t clumped together, so the doctor told me it could still be used.” She would never find out. Due to the lack of clean water, she prepared the milk with non-potable water from a well. The baby refused to drink.

Stuff like this is why I get so pissed off at accusations of genocide and apartheid.
Why would a genocidal country pause a war to vaccinate at least 90% of Gaza kids against polio as soon as the first case of a two year old paralyzed by type 2 poliovirus is confirmed? If they wanted gazans wiped off the earth they would keep the war going and vaccinate Israeli kids and citizens. If they wanted them dead they would never vaccinate “the enemy.” Russia wouldn’t do that.
I see you dickheads in the comments, “it’s for optics! Plus they must be worried about Jews getting it from them! That’s the only reason they want to vaccinate anyone. Plus vaccines are poison even checked by the WHO! They probably have autism in them!”
If it’s an apartheid why would Palestinians have access to the same places and bodies of water as Israelis? And if they don’t why would Israel vaccinate. The Regan administration didn’t respond to the HIV outbreak in the 80s because they hated gays and drug users and wanted them sick, spreading it, and most importantly dead. During peace time to their own citizens.
All Israel would have to do is ignore the outbreak.
Vaccines work. Polio is one of the most devastating diseases a kid can get. There’s no medication that can stop the damage once you get the virus. Lil kids die from diarrhea, are paralyzed for life and if they’re immune system doesn’t stop the paralysis at their legs it climbs up their bodies and once it hits their diaphragm (the muscle that lets you breath right under your rip cage) kids as young as a few months old to their teens will die from lack of air. Both are the absolute worst and most painful ways a person can die. Waking nightmare delusions from dehydration and low oxygen on top of the physical pain.
Nazis infected Jews with this shit intentionally to study how polio affects children. Israel is stopping in the middle of a war to end the polio outbreak when they are still trying to rescue kids so young they have spent the majority of their lives on earth in Hamas captivity. And after only one kid was confirmed with polio type 2, the one that causes paralysis.
How can it be a genocide or an apartheid when they are literally helping safeguard Palestines next generation of kids?

she falls back into the rhythm with ease ; contrasting chaos with calm , for others' benefit . in spite of a continuously pounding heart , and fear gnawing at her stomach . nails rapping against the table , isra replays the bedlam in the grand jury hall , hoping to achieve any sort of understanding of the tangled mess left in its wake . but the memory ebbs into the background when she hears approaching footsteps . reflexively , she sits up , offering a warm smile to @classiqals @flcralhaze @umitvar @verenduss @monarhrh @whispcrings , " how can i help ? don't be shy now . obligation and interest often intermingle in isra's mind , but the choice to leave an offering had been all her own . for those who were both assignments and genuine friends , people she has learned from . those who made a greater impact than she can admit to anyone but herself . hands clasped under her chin , she raises her head when she hears the princess' voice , arms falling to her sides , " i'd like to think our intention is what matters most … and that the spirits appreciate any kind gesture . " she gazes , wistfully , around the chapel — admiring the architecture , the offerings others had brought . and she wonders , dimly , after andromeda's , that the flowers aren't what she would have chosen for their associates . but she tucks the thought away for another time . " … whether those spirits exist or not . " isra continues in a much lower voice . in spite of any skepticism , she respects the essence of the festival , and doesn't wish to be heard speaking otherwise .

Andromeda carried the heaviness of her guilt as she wandered through the festivities. After all, she hadn’t really lost anyone in the Reckoning. Her brother had gone missing, that was true, but mourning him was like mourning a stranger- someone she only knew in the stories she’d been told. If he walked through the castle doors, would she even recognize him from the paintings on the walls of Fasil Ghebbi? Would he recognize her? Andromeda closed her eyes tight, shaking the thought out of her mind. Isra stood at one of the altars for the departed, and the princess approached, standing beside her, a small bushel of flowers in her hand. “We can offer so little to our loved ones once they’ve passed.” Reverently, she laid the flowers down on the altar, placing a soft hand on them before rising. Many would assume it was intended for her brother, but it was an offering for an old friend, from her previous life, who had died just a few months before Andromeda had been discovered. “I'm not even sure I believe in these offerings, yet I scoured the marketplace to find their favorite flowers.”

I'd like to say a few words today for the Israeli victims of Hamas and especially for those of you who may have known a victim, or were simply affected because it's your culture, your country, your people.
I'm French, and i've been on and off tumblr since 2013, so i remember what it was like to be online during the Charlie Hebdo killings in 2015. Different 7 of a different month and year, very different crimes and scale, but a similar scenario online. The whole Internet, lead by American users, almost immediately started saying the victims deserved it, using cartoons of the journal which they didn't understand to illustrate their point. These posts had millions of notes, while the French people's attempt to correct the misconception struggled to get a tenth of that. We were not allowed to mourn. Foreign press, especially in English speaking countries (= the internationally most read press) refused to publish the caricatures which their peers had been brutally murdered for, because, they said, it would be insensitive to the people who believed in Islam's god, a make-believe man in the sky concept which has been responsible for the death and enslavement of entire cultures. In those days i think i lost my faith in humanity, and i don't say that lightly. There's a before and after.
So i think i can imagine a fraction of the grief that you must feel, not just over what happened on 7/10/23 (which was so infinitely worse than what happened to CH), but the hostile reactions since. The rage at those callous dismissals, the minimising of horror, the insistence that "all sides must be heard" even on THAT day, the suspicious analysis of the ways you express your sorrow. And of course, the fear, as you know that some people are out there outright celebrating, and some would gladly kill again especially today, and some would excuse them.
What really helped me feel better in 2015 was seeing some people go against the grain and be frank about their support, and their understanding of who were the victims and who were the criminals. So today especially i wanted to let you know that i support you, and i know that there are more who do. You are not your government, you are not a mindless blob of [insert ethnicity here], you are people who went through something horrible, who were the target of barbaric men who sought only to explicitly torture, rape and murder innocents. There is no ambiguity on what happened on that day. Those were not casualities. 1200 Israelis is the same percentage of the population as 39960 Americans in the US. If nearly fourty hundreds American people – children, babies and women, were tortured, murdered and raped on the same day, you bet your arse that there would be ceremonies and public displays of mourning and international support.
So there, that's what i wanted to say. I'm sorry for your losses, may the dead rest and may the living heal in peace.

This combination of arrogance and ignorance is a hallmark of the “just asking questions” influencer corps. At the same time, there is something telling about Gaines’s crazy statement that no one knew what a Zionist was until October 7, after which “people started looking into this conflict.” On October 7, only one side was carrying out violence, and all that violence was against innocent Israelis. There’s an echo of this same idea near the end of the Joe Rogan–Ian Carroll interview. Carroll goes on a rant about the Jewish state being essentially a criminal enterprise founded and governed by mobsters and terrorists. Then Rogan cuts in and says: “And what’s interesting is, you can talk about this now, post–October 7.” To which Carroll responds: “Exactly. It opened wide open.”
October 7 was a moment of Jewish vulnerability, and it brought a particular coalition of alienated Internet celebrities out of the woodwork: washed-up UFC fighters, wannabe pick-up artists, pseudo-historians and philosopher-bros chasing respectability, trust-fund Instagram royals seeking validation from serious-minded people, right-wing populist lay preachers with a persecution complex. These are self-styled tough guys (and gals) who can’t explain how a state made up of supposed genetic degenerates keeps coming out on top. Israel is the Jew of the nation-states; how did it field a fearsome army and a network of super-spies? It must be lying, cheating, and stealing.
Nick Fuentes, ironically, has been the most honest and forthright about the envy and frustration of the tough guys and the “master race” types. In December, a bit over a year after the war started, Israel had turned the tables on its pursuers. Fuentes, on his America First show, had a radically self-aware meltdown. “It’s time for a little self-reflection, it’s time for a little honesty,” Fuentes said smiling, palms held up as if in surrender. “Do you know how much it sucks being on the other side of Israel?” Then came a brief airing of grievances: “They killed everybody in Hezbollah. They made Hezbollah look like an absolute b—ch when they blew up all their pagers. And then they blew up all their other stuff the next day, and then they killed them all.” He concluded: “Damn, this sucks. It’s just watching this defeat in slow motion.”
The world of right-wing influencers is obsessed with conquest and superiority, and on October 7 they thought their time had finally come. Yet 18 months later, they’re back where they started. So they have taken their quest to the 21st century’s version of the wise men atop the mountain: the podcast maestros with massive audiences and an endless appetite for questioning everything. They are crowdsourcing their war on the Jews.

dissatisfied with the mentality of black or white for as long as she can remember , isra exists in a perpetual gray area . for that reason , perhaps , each of her relations have a multitude of layers ( and with those layers , many feelings ) within them . no one can simply be friend or foe . often they can be both . a small smile at the prince's approach , tucking her notebook under arm . nabil is , perhaps , the closest to having one , distilled label — her liege , yes , but mostly regarded as a friend . it's difficult not to , what with the genuine kindness permeating from his very being . in spite of that very kindness , though , she files through the potential responses — good , weary , disquieted . " busy , " she decides to say aloud . " a shocking number of people do not fare well on boats . not even seasickness , but other ailments . " and a dose of worry , regarding the bonaparte queen's demise . " how are you faring , my prince ? "
𝐋𝐎𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍: PAÇO IMPERIAL PALACE, EGYPT'S QUARTERS 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌: PRINCE NABIL BADI 𝐓𝐎: COURT PHYSICIAN ISRA AL-AMIN ( @bourgeoning )
the uneasiness weighing down his chest is only heavier once the news of bonaparte queen's death reaches their ears. the swift apprehending of those responsible is somewhat a relief, though nabil isn't foolish enough to think this is the end of it all. just the opposite, he fears and knows this will only grow bigger, and the apex will be when the tribunal arrives. they have a lot to do, and a lot to figure out. with some questions and more worry in his mind, he sets out to find isra, and when he spots her in the main quarters of egypt, the prince makes her way to her. "isra, hello." it has been a while since they have spoken last, and he wonders how she has been amidst all of this. "how have you been?"

🟪EARLY ALERT RESULTS, LIONS!, and NO DEAL - Real time from Israel
✡️Omer count 6 tonight.
✡️Erev Shabbat - Parshat Shemini - On the eighth day, following the seven days of their inauguration, Aaron and his sons begin to officiate as kohanim (priests); a fire issues forth from G‑d to consume the offerings on the altar, and the divine presence comes to dwell in the Sanctuary. (Leviticus 9:1)
✡️Tonight is Shivi’i Shel Pesach, the 7th and last day of Passover, the splitting of the Red Sea, a holy day (holiday). (Outside Israeli celebrated for 2 days, the 7th and 8th day.)
⚠️HOME FRONT EARLY ALERT - during this morning’s Houthi missile attack we got a chance to see Home Front’s early alert. Here’s what it did:
.. 5 minutes before the regular alert, a “notice” sound and a message was displayed by the Home Front Command app IF you were within the missile zone.
.. The message said: “In the next few minutes, alerts are expected in your area - You need to find a better location that will provide the best protection in your area.” (Minor translation problem there, the word better should be eliminated.)
.. The other alert apps such as Tzofar and Cumta DID NOT display an early alert.
.. The IDF spokesman channel put out the same alert, with 4 minute warning.
.. But the Pikud HaOref (Home Front) channel DID NOT.
.. We assume it will take a a few days for the channels and other apps to get the ability. In the meantime if you want this advance alert, the Home Front Command app is the only option - available on the Play and App Stores in Israel, in English.
⭕HOUTHI MISSILE FRAGMENTS landed in Beit Fajar, near Bethlehem, Judea, including a large piece on someone’s patio. Missile intercepted by Israeli Arrow-3.
▪️LIONS! 4 lion cubs were confiscated by the police after being smuggled into Israel and turned over to the nature authority.
▪️STUPID TERROR - An IDF unit were ‘ambushed’ near Eviatar, by boulder throwing terrorists attacking the road. They responded with live fire, 2 terorrists eliminated, 1 wounded.
▪️ANOTHER MK RECEIVES DANGEROUS LETTER - A suspicious envelope was placed at the home of MK Avi Maoz. Police and fire departments arrived at the scene, bomb and hazardous materials squad handled it.
♦️LEBANON - overnight IDF attack on a Hezbollah weapons depot, targeted elimination this morning.
♦️GAZA - Targeted airstrikes with significant terrorist elimination in both south Gaza, Bani Suheila, and north Gaza, Tel al-Za’tar.
🔹US vs the HOUTHIS - major US attack overnight destroying the fuel terminal at the port of Ras Issa, including the port, storage and fuel transport trucks.
🔹US and ISRAEL vs IRAN - Trump on the report that he "waved" Israel away from attacking Iran: "I wouldn't say I waved them away. I'm just in no hurry to do it (want to explore another path). Iran must not have nuclear weapons. I want Iran to prosper and they can do it easily or not... and that would be bad for them."
Security source to Ch. 14: "Trump spoke with Netanyahu and said that the Iranian problem will be dealt with and, in addition, the Israeli wait will pay off.”
🎗️(NO) DEAL - Hamas has rejected Israel’s latest offer, which was for 10 hostages for 45 days of ceasefire - and for an end to the war, disarmament and the exile of Hamas leadership. Hamas continues to demand an immediate end to the war, full withdrawal of the IDF including from the Egyptian-Gaza border to allow them open access to smuggling, no disarmament, massive free aid, and the world to pay for and rebuild Gaza. And all of that with no guarantee of the return of all the hostages.

3 ISRAELI ‘HOSTAGES’ KILLED BY THE IDF.
Hebrew Ch.12:
“Ron Sherman, Nick Beizer, and Elia Toledano were killed by an IDF shelling, after the military was unaware they were in the presence of a senior Hamas figure who was targeted and eliminated.
The IDF has been aware of these details since February but has not released the information publicly.”
Why do they keep killing their own?

The chief of Israel’s police intelligence division plans to resign, Israeli media reported on 4 September.
This comes amidst a recent wave of resignations in the Israeli military and security establishment.
“Dep. Ch. Dror Assaraf, head of the police intelligence division, announced to [newly appointed] Police Commissioner Daniel Levi on Wednesday, his intention to step down from his role,” the Jerusalem Post said.
According to Hebrew newspaper Maariv, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir – who is in charge of the prison system and police – has been blocking the promotion of several officers, including Assaraf. Israeli media reported earlier this year that Israel’s High Court has shown great concern over a law passed in December 2022 which granted Ben Gvir broader power over the police system.
The same Maariv report, released on 4 September, said that the appointment of every new police commissioner is accompanied by a wave of resignations. It adds that some realize they may not get promoted and decide to resign, while others are notified that they should retire.
Assaraf is the fourth to resign from his post in recent days.
Major General Tamir Yadai, the commander of the Israeli army’s ground forces, decided to resign for “personal reasons,” Hebrew news site Walla reported on 3 September.
Walla also recently reported that the commander of Israel’s Unit 8200, Brigadier General Yossi Shariel, plans to announce his resignation in weeks to come. Unit 8200 is the same unit whose headquarters was targeted by Hezbollah as part of its retaliatory attack in late August.

i have so much love and respect for all who have reached out, and all those suffering in the Gaza Strip. we must never cease our fighting, and never stop feeling angry at the israeli government and military for what they have done. do not become desensitized, never allow yourself to think for a second that this is normal.
