Amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal war on Gaza, maternal healthcare faces excruciating challenges. Deliberate and systematic Israeli attacks on hospitals and medical centers, and critical shortages of humanitarian aid, including medicine, have created a crisis that is endangering the lives of both mothers and newborns. The situation is critical. There are an estimated 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza and some 180 births every day. Israel’s decision in October to prevent food, water, fuel and electricity from entering Gaza created a desperate situation. Inadequate nutrition, exposure to cold and hot weather, the absence of clean water, and poor sanitation weigh heavily on the wellbeing of women and children. The circumstances force them to consume contaminated water, heightening the peril of dehydration and waterborne diseases, particularly among vulnerable groups such as expectant mothers, new mothers and young children. Fuel shortages and the constrained capacity of the few remaining medical facilities exacerbate the difficulty for women in labor to access hospitals. Um Amin, a mother with a few children, confronted with the harsh reality of displacement, recounted her family’s struggles during Israel’s aggression. As bombs relentlessly fell on their neighborhood, reducing their home to rubble, Um Amin had to seek refuge at a school run by the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) in the northern Gaza Strip taking only very few belongings. She was pregnant. And in the school there was little by way of basic necessities such as clean water, food or even clothes for her children. She considered moving south, where food might be a little more accessible. Her husband refused, causing conflict between them.He feared not being able to return. And while she believed that the Israeli army was attempting to force them to leave, she also felt it was a matter of life and death for her children. “It was heart-wrenching to witness my kids fighting over scraps of bread. My 4-year-old started stashing away bread in his pocket for later. I was shocked. Before the war, I never slept without knowing my children were fed. Now, most of the time, I am certain they never feel satisfied.” Her entire motivation to carry on became a matter of feeding her children She denied herself food for their sake, but had also to remind herself of the child within her. “The baby inside me is also a priority, so I had to eat too.” She found the balancing act incredibly challenging, an unbearable burden of motherhood. “I am going to share something I’ve never told anyone I know: I contemplated suicide to escape the weight of this responsibility.”

After the Israeli army unexpectedly stormed al-Rimal, a Gaza City neighborhood, for a second time, Um Amin panicked and fled again, this time going from the UNRWA school to a relative’s house. But her fear caused her to enter preterm labor. A doctor, at the nearby al-Sahaba medical center, had to resort to a cesarean section. It was hell, Um Amin said. There was insufficient anesthesia and she could feel the scalpel cutting into her body. There was no electricity; the doctor had to use a handheld flashlight to see. Um Amin’s cries of pain could not drown out the crashing of shells around her. The operation left her utterly drained. She couldn’t believe she was still alive.She needed nourishment to recover what she had lost during the bleeding and to breastfeed her son. But hunger was stalking Gaza. Food was scarce, there was no white flour in the markets, and Israel was blocking aid trucks from entering the north. “All I had to eat was bread made from animal feed and water. When I had my other children, I relied on foods rich in animal proteins, but it was impossible this time. The price of meat was five times higher than normal.” Unable to adequately breastfeed her child, she had to find infant formula. But the price was multiple times higher than it used to be and more than she could afford. Eventually, she was forced to buy formula that was past its expiry date. “You might blame me, but there was literally no other option. I didn’t have enough money. It wasn’t clumped together, so the doctor told me it could still be used.” She would never find out. Due to the lack of clean water, she prepared the milk with non-potable water from a well. The baby refused to drink.

Stuff like this is why I get so pissed off at accusations of genocide and apartheid.

Why would a genocidal country pause a war to vaccinate at least 90% of Gaza kids against polio as soon as the first case of a two year old paralyzed by type 2 poliovirus is confirmed? If they wanted gazans wiped off the earth they would keep the war going and vaccinate Israeli kids and citizens. If they wanted them dead they would never vaccinate “the enemy.” Russia wouldn’t do that.

Vaccines work. Polio is one of the most devastating diseases a kid can get. There’s no medication that can stop the damage once you get the virus. Lil kids die from diarrhea, are paralyzed for life and if they’re immune system doesn’t stop the paralysis at their legs it climbs up their bodies and once it hits their diaphragm (the muscle that lets you breath right under your rip cage) kids as young as a few months old to their teens will die from lack of air. Both are the absolute worst and most painful ways a person can die. Waking nightmare delusions from dehydration and low oxygen on top of the physical pain.

Nazis infected Jews with this shit intentionally to study how polio affects children. Israel is stopping in the middle of a war to end the polio outbreak when they are still trying to rescue kids so young they have spent the majority of their lives on earth in Hamas captivity. And after only one kid was confirmed with polio type 2, the one that causes paralysis.

Israelis reach the top as the most operational F-35 pilots in the world

During the ongoing war, the Adir F-35 pilots emerged as the most operational at the global level, with one of them making history by intercepting a Yemeni cruise missile pointed at Eilat; 'I was thrilled', the pilot reflected on the historical defense with the advanced aircraft.

The pilots of the F-35 Adir fighters have been responsible for part of the attacks in Lebanon since the beginning of the war, taking advantage of the advanced stealth capabilities of the F-35 jets. About 700 kilometers to the south, between Eilat and the Red Sea, these aircraft serve as the last and constant line of defense against the threat of Yemen's Houthi cruise missiles, an action that has been recorded in the world history of stealth aircraft.

The 140º Squadron of the formidable F-35 targeted hundreds of objectives, including Hamas tunnels and hiding places in the Gaza Strip during the war. Two of the unit's latest fighter planes were also among the first to reach the Gaza border in response to the murderous incursion into the Western Negev on October 7.

Three weeks ago, the pilots of the Adir fighters were the first to attack the most distant target openly attacked by Israel's Defense Forces in Lebanon since the beginning of the war: Hezbollah's weapons depots near Baalbek, northeast of Beirut and about 100 kilometers from the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Last week, pilots of Israeli stealth jets completed their fourth attack in the same area as the Shiite terrorist army: two Hezbollah command centers next to weapons depots. Although the most advanced combat aircraft of the Israeli Air Force are usually reserved for strategic missions in the northern or eastern arenas, the military constantly employs them in the Gaza Strip, along with a permanent presence of combat aircraft in the skies of the region for immediate availability. to support the forces operating on the ground - in addition to the planned air attacks.

Adir's response capabilities for control, command and network allow pilots to accurately distinguish between different types of ammunition in the aircraft or other aircraft in the air, according to the type of "emerging" target at that time.

"Target planning for an attack can be performed from the ground, from the air, in a few minutes in an escape event, and this happens almost every day," explains a senior squad pilot. Thus, combat helicopters and even helicopters such as Black Hawk or Yas'ur (Sikorsky CH-53) can safely descend to a height of 30 feet for evacuation of victims, while air security against anti-aircraft missiles and armed terrorists is provided by the Adir aircraft at a height of 30,000 feet.

During the ground offensive in Gaza, the Squadron Commander, Lieutenant Colonel M., entered the Gaza Strip on foot to have a view at eye level of the attacks for which he and his commanders are responsible, far from the coast of the Strip, and also to speak to his comrades of brigades and battalions, whose pilots provide constant assistance.

In one of the scenes, Lieutenant colonel M. saw how the Israeli Air Force bombs fell only about 150 meters from the ground forces, as part of the close coordination between the forces.

However, the most significant strategic operation since the beginning of the war was carried out by the Adir pilots in the Red Sea area, facing the threat of the Houthis in Yemen. At any time, Adir aircraft ensure the southern entry of Israel - from the Gulf of Eilat and towards the south. A combined average of Houthi attacks may include the launch of about 20 missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and long-range ballistic missiles, each coming at different speeds, altitudes and directions against Israel.

This divides the defense mission between the pilots and the air defense batteries, according to different layers: larger ground-to-ground missiles already launched from Yemen to Israel are shot down into the atmosphere by Arrow missiles, while others more difficult to detect and slower targets, such as drones, are controlled by the aircraft. A drone flies at a speed of 500 km/h, considered slower than missiles.

The F-35 can carry more payload compared to the F-16, and the military material is managed at the Nevatim Air Base. Sergeant Major Michael says: "From the beginning, we have a team of 40 people who always run to eight planes taking off and landing, immediately taking care to arm them with bombs, missiles and fuel."

The U.S.-led international coalition in the Red Sea provides detection and often interception of the main components of the attacks. What remains, usually a small number of air threats, is intercepted by Adir aircraft or air defense systems in the last segment before entering the Eilat area.

Adir aircraft operate in this area as a kind of air control unit - due to the more advanced capabilities of the F-35, they can detect even low-altitude and slow-flying targets that are considered difficult to detect.

At the beginning of the war, Israeli Air Force pilots intercepted a cruise missile, marking the first time in the history of F-35 poachers around the world. The operation was carried out entirely in Hebrew, although it involved U.S. Army forces. "I saw the cruise missile in broad daylight through the Adir camera, at a relatively low altitude," said Major R., pilot of the 140º Squadron, who made history as the first to intercept a cruise missile with an F-35 aircraft.

? A cruise missile launched from the southeast toward Israeli airspace was successfully intercepted by F-35i fighter jets.

"My partner in the cabin was the one who saw the target. I executed the airstrike with a missile that I launched against him. I was thrilled in the cabin after the success of the attack,” added Major R.

He also said: "We are evolving during combat. We have already updated our operational techniques and combat rotations, even against the possibility of cruise missile launches like these or simultaneous ballistic missile attacks. The cruise missile could easily have exploded in the Yoseftal Medical Center or a hotel where refugees from the South were housed. In these missions, I could find myself flying directly from the Eilat area to attack Gaza, then to the regions of Lebanon and Syria and, if necessary, to other areas within that long flight that lasted six and a half hours in Adir."

1. Do you have a fun fancast for Elain and Azriel and if so, who?

2. Where did your mind come up with this beautiful story?

3. Did know you deserve everything the world has to offer?

I also want to share with you that my favorite part of the most recent chapter was probably Azriel carving the little sculpture with truth teller. I know Elain was close with her father and he used to carve things during their time in the cabin. I’m not sure if you’ve done it intentionally but it’s such a sweet node to her father and I love it. I know papa Archeron failed them but I also know being a parent isn’t easy. He’s one of the most human characters SJM has ever written (along side Elain and Nesta). The fact that a hobby that Az openly partakes in also woodcarving is sweet.

Anon, I love these questions and thank you for asking them!

1. My headcannons for these two may be slightly divergent from the series. In my mind Elain leans towards brunette with strong brows not unlike bridget satterlee but with big wavy hair. She's around 5'7, with fuller hips/thighs and smaller bust than her sisters. Her hands are nearly as scarred as Az's from years of gardening.

Azriel has straight up curls in my mind for whatever reason. Xavier Serrano is a close one for me. As I've mentioned I see him more lean muscle than bulk, and he's lighter on his feet than either of his brothers. He also has much fuller lips in my mind. He fights with more finesse and less raw strength, prefers two handed weaponry- a dagger and shortsword to a longsword. I would love for the actors playing the bat boys in the series to be Israeli honestly, I think they are the most beautiful men in the world. But the show stresses me out so I'm choosing to believe it's not happening.

2. This story came to me as I was re-reading acotar for the first time since 2020 and began to develop very specific headcanons about Elain having earth magic tied to her Sight and solid lore connecting the two. I also wanted her to be trained by a female instead of another dude and not as a warrior, hence the Oracle. I'm not a huge fanfiction reader (admittedly pretty damn particular about them) so mostly I just decided to write my own story to satisfy the itch I couldn't find. I have always loved Elain. I think she's very understated in the series, but we have a lot in common. I too am a verdant loving softspoken femme with quiet strength. I love writing Elain and Az because not unlike them, I think a lot more than I speak, and there's a world underneath people are unaware of. My relationships are also constantly laced with unspoken, quiet delicacies. It is probably why so much of this story leans on internal monologue. SO much of the italics are things I have literally thought in my own relationships and never spoken aloud.

Another inevitable battle lost.

3. I don't deserve anything but these sorts of asks just make my whole week and are so fun. Good catch on Azriel's carving! JAN 8, 1:00 PM EST, CHARLESTON - Six members of Free Palestine Charleston on Jan. 8 participated in a disruption to call for a ceasefire in Gaza during Pres. Joe Biden's speech at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. A crowd of over 100 people simultaneously gathered at a permitted event in Marion Square to show our support for Palestine.

Biden's refusal to call for a ceasefire, ongoing arms transfers to Israel without Congress approval, and failure to acknowledge that Israel's actions constitute genocide as outlined in the U.N. Genocide Convention a treaty that the United States is a signatory to) demonstrate that he is more than complicit in genocide; he is an active participant.

Free Palestine CHS recognizes the delicate nature of this action given the Mother Emanuel AME massacre less than a decade prior and the sanctity of the church itself to many members of the community. The nonviolent demonstration was planned by local Black and Palestinian leaders in consultation with members of the AME community to respect the church's history.

We decided the best way to honor the church's mass shooting victims and its long history as a site of civil disobedience would be to wait until Pres. Joe Biden began his speech to disrupt, rather than detracting from any of the church's esteemed Black elders or devaluing a place of worship.

But to be clear, this was not a church service; it was a political campaign event.

Several Black congregants associated with Free Palestine CHS were also singled out and denied entry to the event, including lead Charleston Black Lives Matter organizer Marcus McDonald.

"We find it so disrespectful that President Biden has come to the place of a massacre while actively benefiting and promoting a genocide and a massacre in Gaza," McDonald said.

"My church missed the mark. It missed the call of Jesus to choose the oppressed the orphan, the widow, and the refugee over the empire. President Biden has no place speaking from our pulpit to invoke the lives lost at Emanuel while simultaneously ignoring the thousands of lives lost in Gaza, the bombing of Bethlehem, and apartheid in the Holy Land. I stand in the heritage of protest that birthed the AME church to issue the only righteous call: to "study war no more." We are not free until Palestine is free," said Pastor Darien Jones of Moncks Corner AME.

As residents and community members of Charleston, we know that all struggles for liberation are intertwined. Atrocities committed against Black folks in the U.S. and Palestinians in Gaza have always belonged to the same system of violence. Bishop Samuel L. Green spoke of Malcolm X and James Baldwin as two righteous leaders in his introductory remarks — both famously strongly supported Palestine for their entire lives and careers as civil right activists.

So, as one of our members said to begin the disruption: "If you really care about the lives lost here, then you should honor the lives lost and call for a ceasefire in Palestine!"

We must pressure our elected officials at the local, state and federal levels. But our work doesn't begin or end with a ceasefire. We believe liberation means freedom and justice for all those living in occupied Palestine.

We believe in humanity and joy — not only an end to this horrific genocide, but a world in which Palestinians can grow old alongside their friends and family. We acknowledge the absurdity of having to even make this ask.

Our demands consist of the following:

I. An end to the deadly exchange - the transfer and manufacturing of weapons among the Israeli government, the United States government and oppressive government regimes throughout the world. Among the exchange 2022 program participants was Deputy Chief Dustin Thompson, Operations Bureau Commander. Charleston Police

Department Charleston ex-chief of police, the late Luther Reynolds, participated in

2018. And former sheriff Al Cannon attended a similar summit in Israel in 2009. His trip cost $3,000 and was financed via "seized drug funds," the S.C. Post & Courier wrote.

2. An end to the normalization of Zionism and violence against Palestinians in every aspect of our lives, including but not limited to media narratives, institutional support, and government backing. Zionism is a political ideology, rooted in white supremacy and Western imperialism that promotes the belief in the establishment of a Jewish state on historic Palestinian land. Evangelical Zionism funds the majority of contributions to Israel and is one of the most powerful lobbies in politics.

3. Accountability for elected officials who actively support - and even praise - Israel's war crimes. Our State Treasurer recently signed a bond allotting $30 million of our tax dollars to further Israel's mass murder of Palestinian men, women and children.

We do not want our tax dollars supporting genocide!

4. An end to Elbit Systems, a facility manufacturing weapons the 1OF currently uses to commit its crimes against humanity, operating in Ladson, South Carolina. Elbit Systems, invested $35 million in the relocation and recently opened its 135,000 square foot plant in Ladson. It receives tax cuts for its investment: "A 2019 fiscal year report disclosed that companies' extra revenue diverted $423 million from public schools across the state, disproportionately low-income schools with mostly Black and brown students."

5. A Free Palestine.

We refuse to remain silent. Our peaceful act of disruption during Biden's speech - including our full compliance with US Secret Service agents - and the demonstration at Marion Square were committed to that end drawing attention to the horrors our elected officials want us to forget about, despite funding them with our tax dollars. Pres. Biden responded to our action with a vague mumbling about how he is negotiating with the Israeli government: we need more than empty promises and ambiguous words.

From Holy City to Holy City: Charleston demands a ceasefire, a free Palestine, and an end to Charleston taxpayer money funding Israel.
