I sometimes worry about how triggering it must be to see your abuser’s face everywhere, every day in the media (whether that be social, mainstream or alternative media). My abuser was a micro e-celeb, easy enough to avoid with a bit of effort. Now imagine your abuser is an a-list celebrity. A movie star. A director. A politician. An influencer with a cult following of millions, who everyone wants on their podcast or television show. If we can’t give survivors justice, then they at least deserve to live in a world where they never have to see their abuser’s face pop up on their phone screen ever again – or see Twitter threads speculating about the graphic details of their abuse.
