A/N: my first stevie h. fic!! my wonderful ♡ anon inspired me not just to write for him but also to rewatch season 3 which i forgot how much i loved 💕 i wanna start writing for robin because even the little bit that she appears here was so fun to write tbh!! warning for an almost swearword lol but other than that i hope its super fluffy and that you guys enjoy!!

You didn't mind the days that Steve worked. Most days, you called up Dustin and the gang, or Nancy, or Eddie, or you just stayed home by yourself and kept busy with any number of hobbies and activities. Today was different though; lightning ripped through the skies of Hawkins, rain spitting down so hard it nearly drowned out the cracks of thunder that interrupted your every thought. You could feel the anxious regression creeping up on you, and although you'd normally be fine being in little mode unattended in the safety of your home, but with the storm outside turning the daylight black, home didn't feel so safe anymore. Before you could get too little and before the storm could get too heavy, you were grabbing your bag and pulling on your heaviest hoodie, tucking the laces into the sides of your shoes to avoid the stress of tying them as you set out on your journey to Starcourt Mall. 

Just the walk from your house to the covered bus stop had you soaked through to your shirt, and you shivered in the seat as the bus trundled down the slick streets towards the mall. You blinked your eyes, and repeatedly made fists and unfurled them, desperately trying anything to distract you from crying before you could make it to the back rooms of Scoops Ahoy. Normally you didn't like to bother Steve at work, no matter how many times he reassured you that you were always welcome there, but you felt this was rational option for you given the situation. 

When the bus pulled up to the front of the mall, you lined up with the other passengers before sprinting the gap between the bus and the covered entrance. Once inside the dry safety of the indoors, your body mindlessly guided you to Scoops, the illuminated sign shining like the sun you needed so desperately today. Despite the weather being anything but summery, it seemed like everyone in Hawkins was getting ice cream this afternoon, and with your fear of being a bother far stronger than your need for comfort right now, you opted to sit at an unoccupied table in the front corner of the shop, furthest away from the counter.

Opening your backpack, you pulled out your notebook and a gel pen, hoping to distract yourself until the crowds died down. You could hardly keep your attention on the page for more than 15 seconds, flicking your eyes up to the counter and hoping to catch Steve's sooner rather than later. Your prayers were answered as he handed a double chocolate cone the next woman in line, his gaze scanning the remaining customers just as you'd popped your head up to check on him for the fiftieth time. His eyes got wide when he saw your distraught face silently pleading for his attention, and he intended to give you just that. Steve gave you a reassuring nod before holding a finger up to the next customer in line, and then disappeared into the back room. Moments later, he returned with Robin, who took over cash register duty while Steve circled around the counter and speed-walked over to you.

"Honey bun, you doing alright?" He asked softly, already recognizing your fragile state and not bothering with pleasantries as he slid into the booth next to you. 

"Yeah," you nodded, "just wanted to see you, that's all."

"Are you sure? Is there anything I can do to help you?" Steve took one of your hands in his .

"No, its okay." You lied. "You can go back to work, I'm alright just sitting here."

Steve saw through you instantly. He knew exactly what you were feeling and exactly what you were needing now. He looked up at Robin, capably handling the next customers in line, and stood up with your hand still in his. 

"Yeah, no, that's bull, come on baby." He started to tug at your hand.

Not wanting to argue, nor to be left without the warmth of Steve's grip, you gathered your things and stood up with him, letting yourself be led to the back room of Scoops Ahoy. 

You'd never been back here before, and although you didn't really have any expectations to begin with, they certainly weren't exceeded. The employees only break area was bleak and grey, a single table in the center of the room, a big industrial sink, several humming freezers and fridges, and wiry metal shelves were the only things there; but it was quiet, and it was unoccupied. Steve brought you over to sit in at the table in a cold metal chair, digging through your bag and setting out all of your pens in a colorful array, and opened your notebook to a fresh page. Then, he went over to one of the fridges and pulled out a cold water bottle, as well as a bottle of apple juice, and he set them both on the table as well. Finally, he crouched next to you, taking your chin softly in his hand. 

"I gotta go back to work now, okay baby? But I'll be back before you know it."

You nodded, and Steve continued speaking to you.

"We close at 8:00pm." Steve grabbed one of your gel pens and drew a little picture on the corner of the notebook page. "So when the clock looks like that, we can go back home and cuddle all night long. You can even help me lock up the shop if you want, how's that sound baby?"

"Okay dada," you whispered, and Steve pressed a soft kiss to the tip of your nose.

"That's my little bumblebee. I'll just be through that window right there if you need me for anything at all."

And with one more kiss, Steve was back to work. After a few more reassuring glances from him through the partition window, you finally felt at ease enough to start drawing in your notebook, now comfortable passing the time until Steve was off work. With the tension finally released from your anxious body, you lost yourself in your art, coloring little animals, stars and planets, flowers, bugs, and ice cream cones. Before you knew it, you heard Steve's voice call out to the customers still enjoying a late evening treat.

"Alright everybody, Scoops Ahoy is officially closed. You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here!"

Sure enough, the clock on the wall matched the picture Steve had drawn. Your attention was drawn to the door as Robin walked into the back room, grabbing her bag and a soda from the fridge. 

"See ya, kiddo!" She said, flashing a peace sign at you as she went back out to the front of the store, waving to Steve as she exited. "Thanks for closing up."

Steve waved back as Robin mingled into the crowd of shoppers all on their own way back home, then turned to you. 

"I just gotta clean up a few things before we go," he said, leaning through the window, "but before I do, may I take your order?"

You grinned widely before turning back to your notebook, scribbling out a drawing of your favorite ice cream flavor absolutely covered in toppings. You ripped out the page and handed it to Steve.

"Coming right up baby!"

You happily munched on your ice cream while Steve closed up boxes of toppings and stacked them on the shelves. When the back room was clean, he helped you put your pens away and carried your backpack and ice cream out to the front of the store so you could stay close to him while he wiped off each of the tables, mopped the floors, and closed out the cash register. Finally, Steve helped you throw away the trash from your ice cream, hoisted your backpack onto his shoulder, and held your hand as you slid out from the booth. You walked together to the front of the store, where Steve stopped and turned to you. 

"Would you like to do the honors, honey bun?" He asked, motioning towards the big light switch that controlled the fancy neon sign in the entranceway. 

You nodded, reaching up on your tiptoes to flip the switch, and suddenly the empty mall became a lot darker around you. Steve noticed you tense up and immediately, his hand was back in yours. 

"Don't worry baby. I've got you. You're safe with me." He said, holding you tight as he led you to the garage, and not intending to let go of you for a very long time.

The first week of school had gone well, Y/n sticking by Gareth's side as the others learned more about them. Everyone realizing how shy, quiet, and weary their Little Bunny was, and how opposite they were from Little Terror.

The second week of school had been a bit all over the place. Everyone immediately signed up to babysit Little Bunny at school, some choices were easy for Gareth to make. Though El was new to everything she would take Y/n for the first period of the day because they shared an english class. Then Dustin would take over for the second period, his Tech Design class right next to Y/n's math class. Gareth selfishly didn't let anyone take anymore shifts off him, keep Little Bunny to himself for both lunch, and the rest of the day.

He kept telling himself he would give more people the opportunity to take care of Y/n, but he wanted to know Y/n better than everyone else. Hence the obnoxious amount of questions Little Bunny was asked at lunch, during Study Hall, and on the way to science.

"What's your favourite type of juice? Colour? Movie? Class subject? Food? Store? Do you have lot's of toys? Does anyone know you're a little? If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

And even though he did a good job asking fun questions, plus a few insightful ones, he never asked how they would get home after a DnD meeting. The club met after school and Y/N took the bus.

Little Bunny also never asked, which they regretted as they stood outside the school, their sweater pulled close, backpack sagging, wondering how long it would take to walk.

"Hi there." A sweet voice called, Y/n's eyes meeting the voice's owner as they took a step back. "I'm Joyce, Will and El's mom." She explained after noticing Y/n's confusion.

"Mom!" El called out as she ran over to hug her. "You've met our baby." El beamed.

"Your baby?" Joyce's brow furrowed.

"Yes, Y/n sometimes feels like a baby, so we take care of them." El smiled as she walked to Y/n reaching to hold their hand. "I call them Little Cheese Fingers."

"Oh." Joyce's reaction worried Y/n, the look of confusion feeding into their fear of people finding out. Y/n was about to pull their hand out of El's before Joyce spoke again. "Did Eddie start the Babysitting club again?" She asked with a smile.

"No, but Gareth did." Y/n felt a weight rise of their shoulder as El spoke. "I get to watch Y/n during english." The way she spoke so happily about her duty made Y/n smile, the fear of being a burden dispersing.

"Well Y/n." Joyce began. "Are you waiting for a parent to pick you up?" She asked, as if she just knew Y/n was momentarily stranded.

"No." Little Bunny whispered, Y/n's hand slipping from El's as they suddenly felt alone again. "'m on my own." They held back their tears.

"They take the same bus as us." Will suddenly chimed in, Mike and Dustin following after.

"Okay then it's settled." Joyce wrapped an arm around her son. "You can get a ride home with El and Will." She smiled. "Me or their dad will pick you up, okay?" Y/n nodded their head quickly. "And you two." She pointed to her children. "Better make sure Y/n is safe on the bus." She pulled out her stern voice and it made everyone giggle.

"Yes, Mom." Will rolled his eyes. "They take turns sitting beside me and El." He assured her.

"Y/n likes me more, I give them candy." El accidently gave away her secret weapon, Mike scoffing.

"Really?" He looked at El, then Y/n. "All I have to do is give you candy? Then you'll like me?" His tone was goofy, his eyebrows raised.

"I like choc chips more." Y/n smiled shyly, still uneasy around all the new people, but trying hard to embrace the change.

"Cookies I can do." Mike crossed his arms and smiled, a silent promise to arrive the next day and earn Y/n's friendship.

"You know, Max has a really good cookie recipe." Dustin mumbled. "Maybe Lucas will let us crash his date." Before his sentence was even finished him and Mike began running over to where Lucas and Gareth were chatting.

"Is everyone ready to go?" Joyce laughed.

"Wait!" Gareth yelled out of breath. "I didn't get to say goodbye." He raised a fist for both El and Will to bump, but when he got to Y/n they ran into his arms instead. "Goodbye to you too." He laughed, his arms wrapping around his Little Bunny.

"Do you have everything you need for Y/n?" Joyce's stern tone rung out.

"Yes, Mrs H, we still have lots of stuff left over from Little Terror." Gareth looked down to Y/n who's head was still smushed against his shirt. "Actually does your store have sippy cups?"

"Sippy cups?"

"I know it sounds odd, but ever since Little Terror somehow got juice on the ceiling, handing this one a juice box freaks me out."

"The ceiling?" Will cut in.

"Dude Little Terror once got so much ketchup on Eddie's shirt he had to throw it out. And he wore stained shirts more than he wore clean ones." Gareth added, suddenly very thankful for Y/n's calm demeanor.

"Yes, we have sippy cups, and forks with soft ends, as well as baby wipes." Joyce listed out everything she thought might be useful.

"Great, I'll make sure to stop by." He went to take a step back and walk to his own car, but Y/n clung on. "I've got to go Bunny." He chuckled.

"Me too." The managed to say, their words muffled by Gareth's shirt.

"I have candy." El yelled from the car, Y/n's head suddenly lifted. "Told you it works." She said as Will rolled his eyes and Y/n ran towards them.

"They're very sweet." Joyce smiled as she watched her kids help Y/n get comfortable. "You should come over for dinner more often, and bring Y/n. They look like they could use some more company." she said solemnly.

"Yeah about that." Gareth scratched the back of his neck. "Could you ask Jim to swing by my house after his shift?"

"Sure, is everything okay?"

"Yeah, I just have a few questions, that's all."

On this sunny day in Hawkins, Indiana...Clouds crept along the sky casting large shadows across the playground. It was a lazy day for Eddies party, not to say he had nothing to do. He had plenty of music to play and campaigns to run. To put it simply, they needed a down day. And to Steve's luck, Eddie had requested that you, Dustin, and Steve all walk down to the park together. 

You were used to Dustin being regressed a majority of the time. But surprisingly you hadn't had a proper playdate together! You supposed even though your caregiver hadn't labeled it as one, Dustin wouldn't mind either way. You packed your bag, and with hastily tied shoes and stuffie in hand, you set off to Eddie's house... 

Dustin was sitting on the floor of the Eddie and Waynes attempt at a living room, playing with the odd toy and Dn'D mini-figures Eddie always had laying around. 

"Dustin !!" You shouted, tossing your bag aside and pulling each other up into a spinning hug. 

The two of you giggled and danced around as Eddie picked up your things, Steve gathered up the toys and chalk for the two of you to play with at the park. 

"Hold up, squirt!" Eddie called out, reaching for your hand. 

You looked up at him, confused but with a flutter in your head. 

"Not so fast. You kiddos need to stick with us". Steve said, hand already entwined with Dustin's. For extra measure, Eddie sometimes had you hold onto the chains attached to his belts. Maybe all those unnecessary accessories could be practical sometimes. 

It wasn't far from the school thanks to Steve and Eddie's bikes. Eddie bragged how one day he'll own a "sick ass ride" which earned him a good slap from Steve. 

Once given the "ok", you and Dustin took your pacis and toys booked it for the swings. Each of you raced each other to see who could swing the highest til Dustin managed to scare himself and beg Steve to push for him. 

Your pumping became lighter as you were out of breath. Steve noticed and offered you Dustin's extra sippy with water which you gladly took. Eddie wasn't the best caregiver when it came to rules, and a bottle of water on top of all those sodas from lunch might have not been the best idea for your little state. 

"Little one, slow with the drinking".

You rolled your eyes at the voice from behind you and continued, taking huffs out of your nose causing Steve to giggle as you handed it back to him. Eddie wasn't going to deny you water, that'd be cruel especially when your drink of choice was every sugary and bubbled concoction you could get your hands on. 

"Come play!" you shouted as Eddie took a seat on the bench across from you. You watched him think for a moment before shaking his head. 

"Okay, Kiddo, but first let's take a potty and snack break?" 

You pouted, kicking the wood chips at your feet with a furrowed brow.

"No, no! We just got here! We don't wanna leave now!" Dustin shouted back, mirroring your disappointment. 

"Well if you two are sure..." Eddie hesitated but eventually caved in pushing you while he chatted with Steve.

Steve wasn't too keen on letting either of you out of his sight or out of arms reach. But with Eddie around, Steve could let the invisible leash loose a bit and allow the two of you to (mostly) run free. 

Even from afar the two knew you (especially), and Dusted needed a bathroom break, but neither wanted to force it. Dustin didn't have a preference between pull-ups or boxers but you much preferred your regular clothing over anything Eddie had offered. 

The two of you eventually chased each other back over to your caregivers. This time, Steve spoke up. 

"Dustin, do you need the potty?".

He paused for a moment, fidgeting before eventually giving Steve a nod. "Mhm! Yes mama"

Eddie turned to you, quirking his eyebrows and giving you a questioning look. 

"I don't need to! I want to play!" 

"Squirt I'm serious, let's at least go with them?" 

You looked to Dustin who seemed perfectly content going on his own with Steve, but you justified it in your mind that your friend was just too little to go alone! 

The two of you waited outside the stalls for Steve and Dustin to finish. You could hear the commotion from outside and based on the shouting from Steve you gathered that Dustin forgot to flush and refused to wash his hands. 

Eddie was just waiting for the moment til you asked to join. To his surprise, it never came, until he felt a tugging at his shirt. 

"Yeah, little one?" He asked, sing-song. 

"I'm sorry, Eds I didn't mean to," you said with a sob. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to! I was just having too much fun playing, and the running didn't make me have to, so I thought I didn't, and I.." 

"Woah, woah! Slow down there. You're ok". Eddie noticed the small wet patch between your knees and sighed. "Damn it,,kid you're all wet." He cringed "Let's get you changed ok?".

You sniffed, tears pricking the corners of your eyes. "Ok Eddie".

Lucky for you, Eddie always carried a pack of baby towels and a change of clothes. He reassured you as he slipped the clean clothes under the bathroom stall, offering you help and privacy when needed.

All was well as you joined Dustin back in the hallway, following your caregivers back outside. 

"I'm sorry Eddie..." You whispered, pulling on his jacket sleeve as Dustin dared you to another race.

"It's alright, kiddo doesn't worry. You're forgiven, it was just a mistake. Don't worry too much about it, and have fun". 

You smiled up at Eddie before running off, turning to wave "love you Ed's!" 

"Love you too, kiddo!" he shouted back, waving from his place next to Steve and smiling. "I love you".

Plot: Mike comforts Little! Will after their fight

"I said FORGET it, Mike!" Will shouts before pushing past Lucas and running up the stairs.

Mike stands there, frozen for a moment as deja vu of the last time Will left alone runs through his head. He only takes a second before he runs up the stairs after him, taking them 2 at a time.

"Will come on. You can't leave, it's raining" Mike pleads with Will, desperation seeping into his town as he catches his boyfriend's arm.

Will turns around with his signature wide eyes and Mike lets out a soft "Oh" when he realises that he's little.

"Hi kiddo" Mike says softly, sinking to the floor with him when Will attaches to his shirt and promptly drops to the floor. "Wanna tell me whats going on buddy?" He prompts, gently carding through his hair.

"Changing. You and Lucas and Dustin don't wanna play with me anymore" Will mumbles into his chest. Mike's surprised by how articulate he is. Usually, when Will is little, he communicates by mumbling or pointing. Mike makes a note in the back of his head that Will isn't fully little yet, already speedrunning a plan to get his now-little boyfriend comfortable and soft.

"Aw, I know bubs. But we still wanna play with you. I'm sorry that we've been so busy." Mike apologises, still running his fingers through his boyfriend's hair, chuckling softly when Will keens into his touch. "Tell you what, how about we send Lucas home and I'll run you a bath, then I can make you some chicken nuggets and we'll watch Scooby doo and have a little night?"

Will just nods into his chest, having fully slipped. Mike just laughs softly again, easily gathering Will up and carrying him inside, eager to dote on him.

Thinking about the Party/other characters and what they’d play in DND (or at least my idea of mixing the canon PCs of the Party with their RL experiences) but I don’t know shit about ADND but I do now have a stupid amount of 5e in my brain so I have opinions:

Max- Tiefling Rogue 3 (Thief Archetype, Mobile Feat)

Lucas- Human Ranger 3 (Variant, orginally a homebrew Lion Beastmaster- but reworked into a Monster Slayer archetype. Crossbow Master Feat)

Jane- Elf Sorcerer 3 (Spring Eladrin, Aberrant Mind Sorcerous Origin; Fey Touched resulting in glowing eyes in game)

Will- Human Wizard 4 (solo play boost, Greatsword Proficiency, Arcane Focus is a Staff, & granted Ritual Caster Feat, School of Evocation- he probably knows better than me how to finesse this build & he’d do some Downtime Research to boost his build even more- maybe take a level in Grave Domain Cleric, but he’s just a singularly focused Wizard in my brain)

Dustin- Gnome Artificer 3 (Rock Gnome, Battle Smith Specialist, an absolute shit ton of home brewed tinker devices)

Mike- Human Paladin 2/Fighter 1 (If continued in Paladin, he’d go Oath of the Watchers post-UD, with Blessed Warrior Fighting Style- but he starts taking levels in Fighter bc he wants to play full melee after rejecting the support roles he was rocking in the beginning of their campaign, reflecting his shift from Seasons 1-2 to Seasons 3-4; ergo, Fighter 1 with Protection Style.)

Erica- Elf Rogue 2/Warlock 1 (Wood Elf; Elven Accuracy Feat. Hexblade Patron- while her in show character is a CG, this is who they are as characters, so CN fits her)

Nancy- Half Elf Fighter 2 (Gunslinger Archetype, but if Dustin or Mike kick up a fuss about “loss of immersion” she’d be a Archfey Warlock to reflect her quest for knowledge/secrets at expense of her own self. Either way, she wields twin starwheels designed by Dustin’s Artificer which act as her arcane focuses, or just act on their own as dual wielded weapons).

Jonathan- Human Cleric 1 (Peace Domain, he’s not a fighter at all. Even when he had the bat, he ended up just as the plan guy and total support. There is no Brother Magic class but Peace fits him.)

Argyle- Lizardfolk Druid 2 (Circle of the Land, Druidic focus of wrapped fur scraps & dried mushrooms; totally Outlander background. Chef Feat for flavour).

Robin- Tabaxi Bard 2 (Proficiency with Horn, but also has a pan flute; Eventual College of Spirits)

Steve- Human Barbarian 2 (Variant, Tavern Brawler, rolled stupidly well on Constitution but his die either goes Nat20 or Critical Fail, barely any in betweens which explains his strange showing; Season 4 is basically him levelling up into Path of the Berserker- interestingly, I’d put Billy in the same category)

Eddie- Changeling Bard 4 (Mandolin, College of Eloquence, makes extensive use of shape changing abilities for chaos)
