The Clackmannanshire Bridge opened to traffic on Wednesday 19 November 2008.
Prior to 1 October 2008 the bridge was referred to as the upper Forth crossing while the name was chosen.
The increasing levels of traffic using the existing Kincardine Bridge led to a public inquiry being held into options to ease traffic flow over the Forth and around the small town of Kincardine. In 2000 proposals were put forward for a number of alternatives, one of which was a new crossing running north-northwest of the existing bridge, bypassing the town of Kincardine altogether.
In 2005 the new crossing was given the go-ahead, and construction began in June 2006, with the sod-cutting ceremony performed by then Scottish Transport Minister, Tavish Scott, accompanied by the Earl of Elgin who as a boy had performed the ceremony for the Kincardine Bridge.
The bridge was officially opened by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond on 28th November 2008. At the ceremony, Salmond said: "This is a world-class infrastructure project which will cut journey times, improve central Scotland connections, and provide a unique gateway to Clackmannanshire, Fife and Falkirk"

Scotland and Norway played against each-other in the qualification for the European Championship in football, and so Oslo was flooded with Scots that one weekend in June. Some of them were surprised it was so hot in Norway š
but luckily most of them were wearing kilts, giving more ventilation...
#hetalia#aph norway#hws norway#hws scotland#aph scotland#scotnor#and we don't talk about how the game went š#I know the whole thing of people being surprised Norway is hot during summer is quite common tho š
#some people even think we don't get summer?? it's just snow all year around#even more often nowadays we will have summers with temperatures well into the 30s#we might also have long stretches of rain ofc but that's all year anyway#in summer there is rarely under 10 degrees in my experience and I live in central Norway so ofc it will be different in the south and north#when this took place it was 31 degrees in the shadows in Oslo and 22 degrees in Edinburgh#the scots were a bit shocked it seemed. Travelling north and having it get warmer

New Scotland Yard: Prove It (2.5, LWT, 1972)
"Tell me about the wounded man, Slee."
"Yes, well, local talent. He owns three car lots and a laundrette. He's done quite well for himself, considering."
"Considering what?"
"He started life shooting other people's knees off."
"That's a grammar school education for you."
"Mmm. PTI in the army, jacked it in and sold his muscle to the highest bidder."
"Form?"
"Usual: GBH, malicious wounding with a weapon, assault occasioning bodily harm, demanding with menaces. Clean for the last four years."
"Now a respectable businessman."
"Scum. Handmade suits, two daughters at the local convent, but still scum."
#new scotland yard#prove it#1972#lwt#classic tv#peter moffatt#richard harris#john woodvine#john carlisle#anthony sagar#richard borthwick#ray lonnen#ralph watson#roy purcell#june watson#sally nesbitt#brian hayes#terence sewards#malcolm gerard#gangsters! a gangland 'disagreement' sees one man clinging to life and our intrepid boys move in to sort it all out. they're off their own#patch this weekā for reasons which are never explainedā and much is made of the local coppers being uncomfortable around high ranking#types. one of those locals is played by Anthony Sagarā who's inexplicably doing a welsh accent (tho tbf not a bad one). this must have been#one of his final jobsā he died in January of '73. also a delight is Sandbagger 1 himselfā Mr Ray Lonnenā as a wide boy Mr Big#looking to expand. Harris' script is wittier than many eps of NSY and contains a lot of his trademark sly dialogue (including multiple#instances of the viewer hearing only one side of a phone call and being left to wonder what exactly is being joked about..). this is the#second episode in a row to end with the central crime not actually wrapped upā tho in this case it's hinted that Kingdom has set#certain things in motion which will hopefully provoke an arrestable response. he and Carlisle have another icy show down about methods and#practisesā and Carlisle gets in a truly venomous line or two which should surely have seen him reprimanded (if they had anything like a#realistic working relationship). not a bad epā not a great one eitherā a little too straight cop show in shape to be truly intriguing

I love getting my plant watering reminder after Iāve already watered my plants. I feel so productive and responsible (half of my plants are dying)
#personal#to be fair it was kind of stupid of me to think I could successfully grow an orange tree in central Scotland#that poor thing lasted 2 months and now sheās all shrivelled and sad#I have no idea whatās going on with my venus flytrap though. sheās just dramatic and picky#I had her in my living room window and it was too much sun so I moved her to the kitchen#and that was still too much sun so I moved her to my bookshelf and she thrived for 3 months and then tried to flower#please I feed you so many spiders you should be FINE!!

New Scotland Yard: Evidence of Character (2.4, LWT, 1972)
"Who was with you?"
"No one."
"The girl?"
"No."
"Or was she waiting for you outside?"
"No, I tell you I never saw her except to glance at, once, in the bar."
"Where did you go when you left the pub?"
"I drove straight home."
"Arriving when?"
"I don't know, about eleven."
"Anybody there when you got in?"
"My mother."
"How was she dressed?"
"My mother?"
"The girl."
#new scotland yard#evidence of character#1972#classic tv#peter wildeblood#bryan izzard#john woodvine#john carlisle#gary raymond#mary kenton#jack allen#michael beint#james hazeldine#margaret nolan#hilda braid#joan scott#ian burford#stella moray#andrea godfrey#kenneth scott#a very unusual episodeā and all the more interesting for it. we open on the discovery of a corpseā and what initially appears to be an#examination of the prejudices and resentments of a small village; it *is* thatā but what's surprising is that those ideas become so central#that they overtake the actual crime plot of the episode. gradually the script moves to centre instead on the personal life of Raymond's#henpecked garden centre owner (the gardening thing of course giving Kingdom some common ground to cover) so much so that its his story we#end up following and not the murder. SPOILERS INCOMING; the episode actually ends with the murder unsolved and just a vague hint#that progress is being madeā but Raymond's story is over by thenā allowing for some fierce moral debate on the process of keeping criminal#records (he committed a minor crime 15 yrs ago which threatened to become public knowledge in this awful uptight village)#Kingdom is once again the voice of progressivenessā arguing that without a clean slate the possibility for a true new start is lost and the#threat of exposure is inhumane. no guesses which side arch dickhead Ward is on.. tho even he isn't that passionate about continued#persecution of those who have 'served their time'. Raymond is a great guest starā very real and very sad in a contained sort of way
