something i notice and appreciate about pedro pascal: he looks like an actual human man most of the time. like, obviously he is extremely good-looking, but if you saw him on the street you’d say “that dude is real cute” not “that guy has been engineered in a lab to star in movies.”
that is, until you get the professional photoshoots, where there’s all the posing and makeup and lighting and post-processing and then he looks just otherwordly-masculine-perfection. and i’m not minimizing the fact it takes effort and training on the part of both model and photographer to pull that off.
but the contrast is illuminating, to the point where i’ve seen fan posts of him walking down the street next to him in gq or whatever, and the commentary is can you believe this is the same guy? get you a man who can do both, etc.
and the reason i think this is a good thing is that men in modeling or celebrity photoshoot gigs get just as much airbrushing and angles and shapewear as women do. but while there’s been a whole lot of discourse on how much work it takes to make starlets look like they do in magazines and how that’s not representative of reality, there has not been nearly the same level of awareness about men’s bodies and how they’re portrayed.
so i hope men are paying attention to pascal right now, and how he looks like a handsome goofball that you could smoke weed and play mario kart with in one photo and the guy your girl would leave you for in a heartbeat the next. i would love it if his fame ends up driving home how much the aesthetic goals men are sold are art and artifice (which is not say it doesn’t take talent!)
i hope his popularity encourages men to learn their angles and try new clothes that make them feel powerful in their own skin. i hope it prompts them to book boudoir photoshoots to give their partners and confidently roll their sleeves up their forearms. and i also hope it shows them that kind of attractiveness is a thing you can learn to do if you want but you should never feel bad for not waking up looking like a photoshoot.
inside each of us there is a pedrito on his way to the gym and a pedrito halfway fucking a bed in tall leather boots for esquire. dudes, you get to pick which you want to be at any given time, and no one - least of all the media, an industry that makes its money by selling you insecurity - gets to make you feel bad about it.

While I’m firmly against the idea of Aftg getting a live action adaptation if it does happen I’m saying now that at the end of it there needs to be one of those 2000s esc dance party endings to the song you should be dancing by The Bee Gees.

i have a secret that might be related kind of to body image, can i ask for clarification before sending? is it negative body image, talk of eating disorders, what kind are we talking about? i’d hate to misunderstand and accidentally hurt u op!!
don't worry about me! the blacklist is to protect other people ^_^ <3
i take 'body image' to mean anything that has to do with weight/body checking, eating habits, negative body image..... things of that sort!
the blacklist is condensed to make it easier to read! as always, i use my best discretion :]

I don't know about you, but I'm going for a fed-girl summer. A summer where I can let it all hang out and live as I am. I'm going for the bikini instead of a one piece and a cover up. I'm going to hang out in the pool and drink my margs while chatting it up with friends and future friends. Maybe even make out with a hottie! 💋
Just because I'm not thin doesn't mean I can't live and celebrate in the body I have.

little self esteem brag i knew i have made progress in the body image department when i tried on an old pair of shorts from like 3 years ago today and they didn’t fit and instead of having a breakdown i just shrugged and went on with my day. yes i looked great but i cried when i had to use oil and didn’t eat pasta for 2 years so was i really enjoying my life when i wore those??? absolutely not. and im still hot as fuck now most importantly so who gives a fuck. not me! happy saturday

i get now why trees and rocks and insects will be called to testify on the day of judgment. i get it. when humans lose the conscience that sets them apart and commit the kinds of atrocities we’ve been seeing for more than a month straight of course it will be voiceless who are listened to. they’re witnessing it all, have been for far longer than any of us have been alive

i dont want this to come across as mean or to be as some sort of example as to why being trans is bad. but i think a lot of the time when i see ppl talk abt having gender envy its not in a very constructive way.
Like ofc lots of us have dysphoria and dysmorphia,, but i just want to point out that theres not a lot of difference between trans ppl looking at skinny androgynous ppl and saying "i wish i had that gender" and the stereotype of a teenager looking at a magazine going "i wish i had that body".
A lot of the time the things i see ppl say they want the gender of are like. Just normal ppl wearing a shirt and jeans lol. But the appeal is to have their body. And i get that. I also feel like that. But i dont know how constructive it is to look at ppl and go i want to be like them instead of like me when the "like them" things are things you cant really change.
Im not saying seeing someone with a cool aesthetic and wanting that aesthetic is problematic. Im not saying anything is problematic at all ! Im just saying as a kinda chunky trans man myself that looking at skinny tall cis men and constantly going "i WISH i had what they have :(" isnt good for me and i dont think its good for a lot of other ppl too.

Sometimes I wonder why I have issues with my body image. Why I always hate the way I look. Change my outfits seventeen times before going out bc I look “too fat”
Then I remember watching Bridget Jones’ Diary when everyone including the protagonist constantly spoke about how ‘fat’ she was. Renee Zellweger was 126lbs / 57kg while filming that movie.
Or when my mother jumped from diet to diet. Weight Watchers, Atkins, Slimming World. Or when she taped a picture of a pound of fat onto our fridge to remind her what would happen if she overate.
Or the whole ‘fitspo’ trend that was all over the internet in my formative teen years. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels right? Would I rather have cake or collar bones? What do I mean I don’t have a thigh gap?
But hey, it’s all in my head right?

In my tags I explain what to look out for if you're unsure if a video is ai or not. It's just what I look for so it's not foolproof, but if you don't know where to start it's there.
With our political climate always ask yourself what the media is trying to portray. Who would benefit from it. Who would be disadvantaged by it.
This is giving me a headache.

this is the end folks
i know people will say its not perfect and etc etc but the point isn't how convincing it is now, its how fast it evolved to this point. imperfections will be ironed out and the internet the internet is a warzone

#what to look out for:#weight. they are very light on thier feet and move as if there isnt muscle and fat on their body effecting their movements#theyll probably do this for skinny people so keep a close eye when they are skinny#watch the hair too. flowy in certain places and stiff in others#clothes. think about the texture. if its silk why is it stiff like thick cotton? or if its baggy jeans why does it billow like a skirt?#also look at the patterns on clothes. does the model turn? is the pattern matching or even?#i should say watch the faces but we already have those ai's. those will be integrated soon enough#for now watch the faces and how it relates to the movements.#watch for random blur and graphical errors. specially around hands and where hair ends#also when they stomp and jump watch to see if the camera vibrates. watch for camera focus if they change positions. film grain in dark area#when they move quick look for motion blur#when they move from their starting point check the background for leftover shadow or inconsistencies#.......... is this analog horror. like. observation duty. oh my god new video game idea just dropped.#texxt#ALSO CHECK THE SOURCE. take the first frame and image search to find an original photo. if the person is a celebrity @ them in the video#ask yourself who is posting the video. ask them where they got the video. ask your friends if the video doesnt look right.#ask yourself. what is the video trying to portray? is it just a silly dance? is it propoganda? is it a false accusation? is it false proof?
