Maybe a silly question, but do you transfer your image sketches onto your greenware in any way before carving? I just started making pottery in the past year. I enjoy sgraffito because I love carving lino cut but hated the actual printing part. I’ve been making a copy of my design on printer paper and tracing it onto the greenware with a stylus. Do I just need to get more comfortable free handing it 👀

I always transfer my sketch onto my greenware! I use a pencil crayon to press through the paper and into the clay, leaving a subtle line to follow.

there’s nothing wrong with using a guide. you sketched the design out for a reason! I find if I don’t transfer the sketch, my carving tends to get out of control lol and escape the confines of the piece

I know some artists think using new tools and techniques (or even old tools and techniques) is ‘cheating’ but imo that’s ridiculous. there’s nothing wrong with using tracing paper or a light board or a grid or whatever helps you create

Thinking about how important informed consent, negotiation, and aftercare after to TTRPG players who want to experience RP bleed for catharsis and let themselves really feel very heavy emotions safely.

In C3 E91 Matt explicitly got informed consent from Sam that he understood what the consequences were going to be if FCG detonated his power core.

It was worth the pause to absolutely be sure this was what Sam wanted and not a miscommunication because there would be no going back and Matt didn't want Sam to get hurt. This wasn't a gamble, it was a certainty.

And it was not an interruption of play. It prompted Sam to describe what FCG was thinking and feeling and why this was so meaningful to both them and Sam. This was a pain he wanted to experience and would being them closer together as friends, not divide them.

Bleed can be dangerous and people can get really upset and hurt for real. So it needs guard rails to keep things safe and ultimately be a positive, cathartic, healing, fulfilling experience. Gotta make sure everyone's on board.

This is why you do session zeros to set expectations, hug each other at the table (off you're into that), get late night fast food together to decompress, etc. It's why Matt asks Marisha if they had fun on the drive home every week. It's why you talk about how you're all feeling in between sessions.

Human beings invented story telling so we could get really into in and reflect our emotions off it. It can be as powerful and awe inspiring as a solar eclipse. But you've got to wear your safety glasses or you're going to hurt your eyes.

I reeeaaallllly want to see Sam and Jacob reacting to more scenes, especially the reunion scene. Though it seems like the intense rawness and vulnerability is hard for them to look at objectively. Like it was crazy to me that Sam wanted to adr “Did you hurt yourself” when the way his voice cracked on that was BRILLIANT BEYOND WORDS and blew people’s minds. Thank god Rolin is a genius and knew that moment was gold.

I’d love that, anon! One of the things I miss most about DVD features going is the loss of audio commentary tracks on shows and movies, and I would genuinely love for this cast to do one for every episode. Those tracks so often used to be such a wonderful mix of insights, anecdotes and banter between people, and we lost so much when we lost them!
