Anon, I wish it was possible for me to put into words the face I just made, and I say that as someone who really enjoys Matthew MacFayden as an actor, lmao.

It's really incredible how much chemistry Jacob and Sam have as these characters, and it's so deeply lovely that they both seem like wonderful people and seem genuinely really close and to care a lot about each other (I always think of Jacob reassuring Sam, who was clearly so nervous, at SDCC, and just how much time they clearly enjoy spending together talking and hanging out).
Yes, it’s just precious!!!
Tumblr media
We really are quite blessed with them and the whole cast!! 🥰

Like Loumand-hate vexing aside, there actually is something truly insideous about reducing the complete absence of Jacob & Assad interviews and even questions pertaining to eachother this promo cycle to "they don't like Loumand". It not about Loustat vs. Loumand, or which actors are insane about eachother, It's the fact that this season hinges on the rise and fall of the relationship of queer black/brown men and AMC and interviewers alike sidelined that dynamic the entire time. You would not know from press that Assad is co-leading and the only time Jacob and Assad even talk about eachother is in reference to the ep 5 argument being their first scene together. Like, it would be willfully ignorant to ignore how Lestat is as present in this season because producers had no faith in the strength of the rest of the cast, and how Jacob and Assad are only ever paired up with their white co-workers who simply are not as essential to the season as they are to eachother.
In a show about toxic relationships and the way trauma lingers and effects one's ability to interact with another- There is so much to talk about between Louis and Armand. It is not only a diservice to a large chunk of the performances being given, but also to the story itself. I can sit here and wax about how these 77 years together are still worthy of discussion and careful consideration but the truth is- I wouldn't be writing this post if one or both of them were white. If Armand were still that redheaded russian boy we would have a wealth of promo and playing up the romance at the heart of their relationship all the way to the divorce hearings. But because our leading men are Black and South Asian, instead POC are asking you once again to please give a fuck about us even when a white person isn't around for you to latch on to.

eric talking about how luke was watching him and planning a strategy on how to play him had me laughing like luke studied him like a bug or something, the way he talks about is just too funny to me but then i will watch scenes like the one when young daniel asks louis to show him his fangs and his reactions, his physicality is exactly like eric's. idk what the fuck luke did but it worked
I looovveee when actors are mimicking each other successfully, it's so fascinating to see!!!! just look at sam doing this with jacob too!! and also ben daniels mimicking jacob in the last episode!! AND idk if it's a hot take or not but of course delainey is doung her own thing with claudia this season BUT when i see her in some scenes she gives off such a strond bailey's claudia vibe and my heart just melts bc i live them both very dearly 💔 luke obviously did an amazing job in this episode and that's why I hope we'll see more of him, he clearly did his homework and knew how to play young!daniel right to both embody eric's daniel and to show us a different younger version of the same character

Armand turning Daniel out of spite offscreen ruined my night it's never been so over for us
ok no anon i know but look at me look at me breathe with me i'm going to say two things about this
1. i don't know how much of season three is written already, but none of it has been filmed so far. there is still time. hell, there will always be time as long as they renew—even if, at the very worst, they don't show much in season three because of the “rockstar lestat, lestat's season” of it all, they could still revisit important building blocks in armand's own season.
2. wait i forgot what i was going to say here—AH yes so of course. of course these are post-season interviews and are meant to give a little clarity as to what happened and why and the motivations behind certain actions, but they can't spoil too much of what's yet to come. i have read countless interviews where writers and/or actors said x and then it turned out to be y, simply because they need to elaborate on what's already happened without spoiling too much of their future plans. actors are a little shit at it, they always say too much and generate expectation. writers are better, they basically tell fuck all. they circle around things and sometimes outright lie to a) avoid expectations they're not sure it'll be possible to satisfy, at least within a certain time-frame and b) keep their plans as close to their chest as possible, simply because that's the point, that's they're job, they have to make something for you to witness so it doesn't serve them to just explain it beforehand.
i'm ngl i got nervous too there but let us all hold hands in silent prayer it isn't over until it's over okay godspeed

I swear whoever first said "summer of rpf" was hit in the face by Appolo with the gift of prophecy.
It feels like all the actors/celebs used to go "ew, no, separate us from our roles" or "haha how silly" about any instance of rpf. But this year they all collectively went "actually, we're all hot and beautiful and there's really no reason for us to be normal about each other. Yes, we do want to talk about it. Where's the megaphone?"
no literally. there's no better way to have fun in the sun than to pretend/play up your romantic and sexual relationships with your coworkers. or, if you're me, be inside on computer watching actors be deranged about each other

Why is it Armand’s responsibility to reconnect his husband with his ex. He has every right to reject relaying Lestat’s “ily”. Louis is honestly really fucked up for stringing him along for decades gestating all this insecurity but he plays victim and everyone forgives him. I was obsessed with him last season but this season’s kinda put a strain on my relationship with him especially when I see everyone letting him get away with his abuses
It's not his responsibility and I do understand why armand didn't do it I'm just saying that omission is really giving away Armand's motivation. Still though why is it Armand's responsibility to reconnect with Lestat at all? Louis did not ask him to do that Louis is actively saying "no no no" he did not want this. Armand is NOT doing it out of responsibility or as a favor like he says in the show, he's doing it to scare Louis back into his arms and because of that he can't relay Lestat's love because he is still scared Louis would choose him.
And as to Louis abusive behavior I don't care about that as much. I get what you're saying but the show isn't really about choosing the better half of each toxic relationship for me. They're all toxic and they're all abusers from one angle or another and actually I like the show better when they're doing it out in the open like that. The Loustat domestic violence scene is my favorite in the whole show

I've had very minor interactions with the AMC's Interview With The Vampire fandom since starting the show last week and so far it seems that the Venn diagram of people simping for Lestat and people simping for Spike from Buffy is a circle. We truly have learnt nothing and I think that's beautiful.

hi! since you're doing the tremendous task of identifying all actors who seem to be part of the show atm, i need to put smth out here because i've also been keeping tabs on who's following who on ig, and i've noticed something interesting that istg might just be me going insane but also... who knows... there's this woman on ig that everyone is following: diatta_emilie and taking into account that a lot of people are fancasting fka twigs as akasha, when i saw her i immediately thought about a possible casting. im going anon on this one because tbh with this particular thing i do feel a little tinfoil hat but i HAD TO tell someone. Have an amazing day!
Ohhh yes you are right Anon! I noticed that too, but didn't pay full attention and ended up leaving it out. I did a little research and she is an actress too! When I saw her I was paralyzed because she is soooo beautiful! I'll add it in the next update, but for now:
"Born and raised in France, Emilie Diatta moved to Czech Republic when she was 13." (source)

This was cool. I love what they say about Jacob as Louis, and that they describe Sam's "tornado of a performance", that's a perfect description.

Love everything about this, anon, and really glad so many of the actors got a nod, but that Jacob was the one singled out.

hi there, the delusional anon again lol I'm really lighting candles hoping we can finally get the deleted scenes 🕯️
I really wanted to see Louis shooting Lestat and the whole scene they filmed with the first makeup, just out of curiosity. The Trial™, and the scene with louis in the church, killing the priest
and TC as the marquis is GENIUS !!!!!! The tvshow has already made so many references, I would like other actors to appear even for a second! Even the young fop actor (btw did you saw his interview on youtube with a fan?); and jokes aside, I have a lot of fun whenever someone says they would like to see Nicole Kidman in the show as Gabrielle, it's kind evil tbh BUT yet would be cool
I've already spent HOURS on your blog just looking at the deleted scenes, I don't understand why Warner Bros just doesn't release it
anyways, THANK YOU! love your blog 💕
I've already spent HOURS on your blog just looking at the deleted scenes, I don't understand why Warner Bros just doesn't release it anyways, THANK YOU! love your blog 💕
Aww thank you! 😍 That means a lot. I collected this stuff for ppl to enjoy, if Tumblr ever goes down and we lose this archive, I'll definitely be sad. It's too large for me to download 😂 So definitely save stuff for yourself.
Light your candles, Anon 🕯️, but don't hold your breath. Truly, if we were going to get deleted scenes from the '94 movie, the golden opportunities (the 10th and 20th anniversaries 😂) for that have passed. This year will be the 30th, can you believe it?? If anyone is connected to the powers that be, TELL PPL WE WANT THIS STUFF. I'm sure it exists somewhere.
I think those cut scenes could have been great, but I suspect, other than being cut for time, there were good reasons to cut them from a writing perspective.
They may have been too cheesy for what the movie was going for?
Or they might have slowed down the action or detracted from the story?
--- Louis doesn't shoot Lestat that night in the book; Lestat gets shot at the Theatre de Vampires (before it's called that) in the Vampire Lestat, so it's possible that it was filmed, and then cut from the IWTV '94 movie with the intention to include it properly in the sequel TVL (not that Lestat can't get shot twice! but still! Getting shot on stage in front of an audience rather than in a bedroom with no other witnesses is, debatably, more shocking).
I felt like there was a somewhat feverish pace with Lestat coming to Louis at his bedside, that scene went by pretty quickly, it made it more vibrant and precious. In the book, Louis had been in poor health and then ppl had bled him to try to "cure him of his madness," so Lestat really didn't have the luxury of waiting too much longer to turn him; Louis could have died 😭. And maybe the whole Louis-shooting-Lestat might've killed the mood Lestat was aiming for, which was seductively offering Louis the Dark Gift. Shooting Lestat might've been more than a little off-putting in that moment 😂 Do you really want to turn someone into your immortal companion after they've JUST SHOT YOU? It might not kill Lestat, but it would still hurt!
Tumblr media
[^X]
I mean I LOVE Tom!Lestat, and this is one of the few BTS pics we have of the Trial scene (you can see the theatre crypts behind him 😭)... it's charming to me bc I love that movie, but it might have been cut bc in a way it's more painful to excise the whole trial. Like barely seeing the shark in JAWS. With no trial, it would mean that Louis and Claudia had absolutely no chance; it was all up to Santiago's (or Armand's) whim 😭 Lestat wasn't even there to try to advocate for either Louis or Claudia (or maybe he WAS there, but locked in a cell somewhere and unable to help them!).
Tumblr media
and TC as the marquis is GENIUS !!!!!!
Right?? That could be amazing.
The tvshow has already made so many references, I would like other actors to appear even for a second!
I haven't heard of that happening... don't hold your breath there, either, I think they would have done it already if they intended to do so. My guess is that AMC really wants to do their own thing apart from the 1994 movie (other than rewriting a few scenes), so I don't think there will be any cameos in the future, but maybe I'm wrong!
Even the young fop actor (btw did you saw his interview on youtube with a fan?);
I didn't see the video, but I met that actor, Lee Scharfstein, IRL in NOLA in 2022, he was lovely!
and jokes aside, I have a lot of fun whenever someone says they would like to see Nicole Kidman in the show as Gabrielle, it's kind evil tbh BUT yet would be cool
That is kind of evil haha but Nicole has been a favorite of fanartists and roleplayers for years, that's not a hot take. If I had to choose Tom as the Marquis OR Nicole as Gabs... bc putting them together would be A LOT to ask... I think I'd prefer Tom, because of the deliciousness of having him play his own father... but we have a better chance of getting Nicole so I would LOOOOVE to have her as Gabs paired w/ Timothy Omundson as the Marquis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh and BTW since you've read this far, I accepted the headcanon that the Marquis' name was Valere de Lioncourt, as per the legendary @gairid/ @vampchronfic 😭💕

I having a real Sam brain takeover in the last 30 or so hours, just with everything, and the song about Louis is making me so excited for what he and Jacob could do in the next season, so:
What are your favorite acting moments from Sam and Jacob in the show? Could be from just the second season or from both seasons, up to you (I'm curious about your favorite acting moments from other people too, the whole cast is great, but that feels like too big a question lol)
GOD OK SO
I've had 3 insane days of iwtv and Raleigh Ritchie madness and I'm so tired right now, but I want to answer this finally! I know whichever moments I choose I'll hit post and then suddenly remember 10 others that I should've included, but what a gift to have actors who are that talented.
I'll try to keep it to top 3 moments for each of them, over both seasons, under the cut because I witter:
For Sam:
The story of his turning by Magnus. I think Sam's just extraordinary in that scene. The layers of performance, the fact that Lestat is giving them both something raw and real, the fact that you can see that it’s not a relief, it carves a piece out of him to say it out loud, the fact that you can see the moment he puts the wall back up again when he says 'but I have a capacity for enduring', the fact that he does use it as an opportunity to disarm Louis and to try to excuse the inexcusible ('it's why I don't particularly like being abandoned'). It's just such a stand out moment from the version of Lestat we see in most of S1. And also Sam said that he put in the line 'I didn't want this', because he thought it was important that the audience heard him say that, and I think it's vital to the scene working as completely as it does.
From S2 it has to be the moment in the trial when he finally takes accountability for what he did by dropping Louis from the sky. Every second of that speech is just perfection. And the expression on his face when he's poured his heart out and finally said that he's sorry and Louis just looks away, because there can't be forgiveness for that, not ever but especially not in that moment, just wrecks me. He fucked everything up so badly and I think Sam shows us that he's really truly beginning to reckon with that and with the awful consequences of his being a shitty maker and husband. Reckoning with being a shitty father unfortunately doesn’t come until far too late.
I'm trying to go for something less obvious than the reunion scene, which I love so much. I think maybe my 3rd favourite Sam acting moment is the two performances cut together between the trial and the retold version of Claudia's turning. The subtle horror of it, the way he seemed genuinely unnerved by Louis' mania, the regret on his face as he's recalling it, the regret on his face before he's even done it, the way he's still oscillating between performance and true feeling in the telling, the moment of insane dark comedy when he says 'and you have to drain her first Louis'. That scene was honestly the most shocking part of ep 7 for me.
(also, the 'tickets please' scene because jesus christ)
For Jacob:
I mean it's the whole show, really. He's just transcendent. But one moment that I really love, just for the extreme contrast it shows between past and present Louis, is when early in S1 he pushes back against Daniel's (fair!) point about his total rewrite of the way he talks about Lestat by reading from Daniel's autobiography. He's so otherworldly and alien in that moment, so detached from humanity somehow in his mannerisms when he picks up the book and leafs through it for the right page. And then flexing his powers by setting the tapes on fire in the bin. He's at his most cooly vampiric because Daniel's picking at a real emotional vulnerability, and the way Jacob plays it is so fascinating to watch.
In S2 I LOVE when Louis gets nasty. Especially when he makes Daniel tell him what Alice said when he finally asked her to marry him. What Lestat said during the trial was kinda true: 'Louis was deceptively agile with words. A trenchant form of verbal amusement.' That man knows how to slit someone open with just the right turn of phrase and I love to see him do it. The glee in his eyes when Louis laughs at Daniel saying 'she said no' is just everything. Like, my god dude, I know he was asking for it but jesus. I also just love that Jacob was scared we wouldn't like Louis any more after S2, as if we weren't all gonna love him even more for all his fucked up complexity.
And my 3rd favourite Jacob acting moment is the Loumand fight in 2x05, because holy fucking shit. Everything I said above times a thousand. The 'does he wanna lick my boots' tongue out, the getting right up in Armand's face, the gleeful savagery, the speed with which he crumbles when Armand brings Claudia into it. I think it's one of my favourite performances by any actor in anything ever (and Assad absolutely meets him at the exact same level).
Since you mentioned the others, I'll also say shout out to Delainey for every second she was on screen but especially 'now I know what two blood-fat cocks slapping hands feels like', because I lost my entire fucking mind at the way she delivered that line.
