So, tonight then Hijacked - Flight 285 from 1996. Cast: Susan Batten - Kim Paulsen James Brolin - Ron Showman Michael Gross - Ben Horner Anthony Michael Hall - Peter Cronin Perry King - Frank Leyton Casey Sander - Steve Paulsen Ally Sheedy - Deni Patton Barbara Stock - Veronica Mitchell and many more Story: Ruthless convicted murderer Peter Cronin (well played with lipsmacking wicked relish by Anthony Michael Hall) is being transported to prison on a commercial airliner. Trouble ensues when Cronin hijacks the plane and demands twenty million in bail bonds. It's up to FBI negotiator Deni Patton (a sturdy performance by Ally Sheedy) to keep things under control. Director Charles Correll, working from a compact script by David Peckinpah, keeps the enjoyable and engrossing story moving along at a snappy pace, generates a good deal of tension, and stages some exciting last reel action with skill and flair. The sound acting by the able cast helps a lot: Michael Gross as good-hearted disabled Vietnam veteran Ben Horner, Casey Sander as the brave Steve Paulsen, Barbara Stock as gutsy captain Veronica Mitchell, Perry King as hard-nosed fed Frank Layton, Hudson Leick as Cronin's loyal accomplice Shayna Loring, David Graf as an obnoxious cowardly drunk, and James Brolin as easygoing copilot Ron Showman. Moreover, Hall has a ball portraying a real evil and dangerous bad guy. Worth a watch. - by Woodyanders on IMDB (just corrected the name of Perry from Lang to King) Thoughts: We start with the preparations for the flight and introduction of all players in the game. They even had self made weapons in the 1990s. Never mind, with Cronin on board and escorted by two marshalls, the flight gets up to Dallas. After a short time, the two aides of him free him and hijack the plane. Cronin calls Layton at home and asks if he remembers him and surely he does. Cronin tells him what he's planned and therefore Layton calls Patton in to help since both have a history with Cronin and he knows them also well enough to know what they would do. Well, it takes a very long flight, some tricks from the passengers and pilot and a lot of convincing to get the man down, quite literally. Most of the passengers are just hurt and only one dead in the end. It's a good movie.

Predator 2 (1990)
In today's review, I do a spot of hunting in the urban jungle. As I attempt a #positive review of the 1990 sequel Predator 2 #DannyGlover #KevinPeterHall #GaryBusey #RubénBlades #MaríaConchitaAlonso #BillPaxton #LilyanChauvin #RobertDavi #AdamBaldwin
There is something about large urban centres that makes them synonymous with progress. Maybe it’s the influx of people, meeting with other people, that makes the opportunities flow. But with its alleyways and rooftops, anything could lurk in the aptly named urban jungle. In 1990, after the jungle-based macho thriller known as Predator, the franchise headed to the city for its sequel, Predator…

My hot take of the day is that more ships should have specific platonic ship names
Like in the Sanders Sides fandom there's two characters who describe themselves as twins. Some people ship them together and that has its own specific ship name (i think it's RemRom? iirc?) but the platonic ship of the two of them as brothers has a separate ship name, which is Creativitwins
That way you don't have to risk the platonic and romantic/sexual fics getting caught in the filter for either tag (as often happens when the platonic tag is just 'platonic (romantic ship name)') because they're literally tagged as different ships!
This has been today's installment of Casey Rambles About Shit Nobody Else Cares About, hope you enjoyed!

Things Biden and the Democrats did, this week #10
March 15-22 2024
The EPA announced new emission standards with the goal of having more than half of new cars and light trucks sold in the US be low/zero emission by 2032. One of the most significant climate regulations in the nation’s history, it'll eliminate 7 billion tons of CO2 emissions over the next 30 years. It's part of President Biden's goal to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 on the road to eliminating them totally by 2050.
President Biden canceled nearly 6 Billion dollars in student loan debt. 78,000 borrowers who work in public sector jobs, teachers, nurses, social workers, firefighters etc will have their debt totally forgiven. An additional 380,000 public service workers will be informed that they qualify to have their loans forgiven over the next 2 years. The Biden Administration has now forgiven $143.6 Billion in student loan debt for 4 million Americans since the Supreme Court struck down the original student loan forgiveness plan last year.
Under Pressure from the administration and Democrats in Congress Drugmaker AstraZeneca caps the price of its inhalers at $35. AstraZeneca joins rival Boehringer Ingelheim in capping the price of inhalers at $35, the price the Biden Admin capped the price of insulin for seniors. The move comes as the Federal Trade Commission challenges AstraZeneca’s patents, and Senator Bernie Sanders in his role as Democratic chair of the Senate Health Committee investigates drug pricing.
The Department of Justice sued Apple for being an illegal monopoly in smartphones. The DoJ is joined by 16 state attorneys general. The DoJ accuses Apple of illegally stifling competition with how its apps work and seeking to undermining technologies that compete with its own apps.
The EPA passed a rule banning the final type of asbestos still used in the United States. The banning of chrysotile asbestos (known as white asbestos) marks the first time since 1989 the EPA taken action on asbestos, when it passed a partial ban. 40,000 deaths a year in the US are linked to asbestos
President Biden announced $8.5 billion to help build advanced computer chips in America. Currently America only manufactures 10% of the world's chips and none of the most advanced next generation of chips. The deal with Intel will open 4 factories across 4 states (Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, and Oregon) and create 30,000 new jobs. The Administration hopes that by 2030 America will make 20% of the world's leading-edge chips.
President Biden signed an Executive Order prioritizing research into women's health. The order will direct $200 million into women's health across the government including comprehensive studies of menopause health by the Department of Defense and new outreach by the Indian Health Service to better meet the needs of American Indian and Alaska Native Women. This comes on top of $100 million secured by First Lady Jill Biden from ARPA-H.
Democratic Senators Bob Casey, Tammy Baldwin, Sherrod Brown, and Jacky Rosen (all up for re-election) along with Elizabeth Warren, Cory Booker, and Sheldon Whitehouse, introduced the "Shrinkflation Prevention Act" The Bill seeks to stop the practice of companies charging the same amount for products that have been subtly shrunk so consumers pay more for less.
The Department of Transportation will invest $45 million in projects that improve Bicyclist and Pedestrian Connectivity and Safety
The EPA will spend $77 Million to put 180 electric school buses onto the streets of New York City This is part of New York's goal to transition its whole school bus fleet to electric by 2035.
The Senate confirmed President Biden's nomination of Nicole Berner to the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Berner has served as the general counsel for America's largest union, SEIU, since 2017 and worked in their legal department since 2006. On behalf of SEIU she's worked on cases supporting the Affordable Care Act, DACA, and against the Defense of Marriage act and was part of the Fight for 15. Before working at SEIU she was a staff attorney at Planned Parenthood. Berner's name was listed by the liberal group Demand Justice as someone they'd like to see on the Supreme Court. Berner becomes one of just 5 LGBT federal appeals court judges, 3 appointed by Biden. The Senate also confirmed Edward Kiel and Eumi Lee to be district judges in New Jersey and Northern California respectively, bring the number of federal judges appointed by Biden to 188.

Kamala Harris’s ‘Joyful’ War on Entrepreneurs
When Democrats talk about boosting the middle class, what they mean is government employees.
By Allysia Finley Wall Street Journal
Americans who tuned in to Kamala Harris’s coronation last week heard from plenty of celebrities, labor leaders and politicians. Missing from the “joyous” celebration, however, were entrepreneurs who generate middle-class jobs.
No surprise. Cheered on by the crowd, Democrats took turns whacking “oligarchs” and “corporate monopolists.” By the time Ms. Harris took the stage, the pinatas’ pickings had been splattered around. This is what Democrats plan to do if they win: destroy wealth creators so they can spread the booty among their own.
Corporate greed is “the one true enemy,” United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain proclaimed. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders insisted the party “must take on Big Pharma, Big Oil, Big Ag, Big Tech, and all the other corporate monopolists whose greed is denying progress for working people.” Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey railed against “greedflation” and accused corporations of “extorting families.”
Barack Obama lambasted Donald Trump and his “well-heeled donors.” “For them, one group’s gains is necessarily another group’s loss,” Mr. Obama said. “For them, freedom means that the powerful can do pretty much what they please, whether it’s fire workers trying to organize a union or put poison in our rivers or avoid paying taxes like everybody else has to do.”
Democrats treat wealth as a zero-sum game, and so Mr. Obama’s straw men are rich. They get richer by making everyone else poorer—and taking away from the well-off is the only way to enhance the lives of the poor and middle class. Hence, the left’s plans to raise taxes on “billionaires” and businesses to finance more welfare.
It isn’t enough that the top 1% of earners already pay 45.8% of federal income tax, which funds government services and welfare for the bottom half. As for poisoning rivers, perhaps Mr. Obama forgot that his own Environmental Protection Agency caused the 2015 Gold King Mine disaster, which spilled toxic waste into Colorado’s Animas River.
Quoting Abraham Lincoln, the former president invoked “the better angels of our nature” even as he appealed to America’s darker angels. His speech brought to mind a recent homily by my local parish priest about the dangers of class warfare and envy, one of the seven deadly sins.
Success, the priest explained, isn’t a zero-sum game. When a businessman succeeds, he creates jobs that help the poor. Envying and tearing down the successful makes everyone poorer. Rather than plunder the wealthy, society should celebrate success and try to help everyone prosper.
Democrats derisively refer to such ideas as “trickle-down economics.” They denounce and diminish business success, and claim the wealthy have profited from greed and government support. Who can forget Mr. Obama’s line in 2012 that “if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that”?
Rather than try to make it easier for businesses to succeed—say, by reducing taxes or easing regulations—Democrats want to do the opposite. They call for “leveling the playing field” and “growing the middle class out,” euphemisms for taxing success so government can hand out money. But government doesn’t create wealth. People do.
While business success isn’t zero-sum, government growth can be. Its expansion makes it more difficult for business to thrive. The result is fewer jobs, lower wages and less tax revenue, which finances essential public services such as law enforcement and the “safety net” for the indigent.
Mr. Trump’s appeal in 2016 partly stemmed from slow economic growth during Mr. Obama’s presidency. The Republican promised to make all Americans richer by liberating businesses from government’s shackles. Mr. Trump’s deregulation and tax cuts worked: Average real wages increased nearly 70% faster during his first three years than during Mr. Obama’s presidency.
Yet most Americans have become poorer under Mr. Biden, as government spending has fueled inflation, which has eroded wages. Job growth has become increasingly concentrated in sectors that depend on government spending. When Democrats talk about boosting the middle class, they mean the class of government workers.
Government, education, healthcare and social assistance account for more than 60% of the new jobs added in the last year. In the 17 states where Democrats boast a “trifecta”—control of the governorship and both legislative chambers—the share is 98%. In the 23 states with Republican trifectas, it’s 47%.
Likewise, average wage growth since the start of the pandemic has been lower in high-tax states such as Illinois (13.6%), New York (14.4%) and California (17.2%) than in low-tax Florida (22.5%), Texas (23.3%) and South Dakota (26.9%). If middle-class Americans want to get richer, they ought to move to Miami, Dallas or Sioux Falls.
“As long as we look to legislation to cure poverty, or to abolish special privilege,” Henry Ford once observed, “we are going to see poverty spread and special privilege grow.” That’s the joyous future Americans can expect during a Harris presidency.
Appeared in the August 26, 2024, print edition as 'Kamala Harris’s ‘Joyful’ War on Entrepreneurs'.

It’s been two fucking months since Red, White & Royal Blue came out, and I have still not had a day go by where I didn’t watch it start-to-finish at least once.
When I say that this movie altered my brain chemistry, I am not even exaggerating. I think about this movie on a nonstop basis. I purposefully make my school assignments relevant or remind me of it to give me motivation to complete them.
For the first time in my life, I’ve actually committed to editing an AMV for something, despite having tons of ideas in the past that never happened, and I have a second idea already in waiting.
I’ve written so much, and still have so much more to write. I have written so much that I was finally motivated to create a Ko-Fi account because it has essentially become a part-time job. I had been considering it for years, but I finally actually made one because of how much time and energy I’ve devoted to this.
It’s been so incredible to be part of a fandom like this. I’m in several, but those are entirely different. The other two I’m the most active in are Thomas Sanders’, which is a different vibe because he’s a real person making relatable and self-produced content, and Merlin, which is a show that’s been finished for over a decade, and technically is not canonically queer.
This is unapologetically gay and new and such an exciting thing to be here for! It introduced me to two incredibly talented and kind actors whose work I’ll be paying attention to moving forward!
And it’s so amazing to see my ridiculous ramblings resonate/inspire/inform people! In just two months, this movie has become a permanent piece of me.
Just thank you to the cast, and crew, and Casey for Red, White & Royal Blue ❤️🤍💙

"Another banger from davekat-sucks. Sometimes I feel like you're the most sane person in this fandom, I swear to god."
TW: For Animal Abuse
I couldn't agree more with this sentence by anon up here. Nearly everyone in this fandom is batshit insane and only ever care about shipping and making the characters even more "quirky" and making really dumb headcanons about them Instead of actually reading the comic and not making up shit about the characters. I just reposted about how a year or two ago, a Twitter user DM davekat-sucks saying how they say a dog getting SUPEREXLED by two Davekat cosplayers right in front of them AND NEARLY DYING. Who knows all the depraved shit Davekat and or Homestuck cosplayers in general have done in some cons (Ex. Like the time people threw buckets and targeted Karkat or Gamzee), I think we're pretty infamous in general, actually. But davekat-sucks is about one of handful in people in this fandom who are genuinely not insane or had some depraved and disgusting past. I read another anon saying that "Davekat was the final nail in the coffin for Homestuck" which I also very much agree with. On a political stance I'd say I'm definitely liberal, but seeing this fandom ruining itself and doing the most depraved shit is beyond what's normal to me. What could've you done to avoid these problems or maybe fix the fandom? I'll start! Completely erase and scrap Davekat as a whole.
I remember that post either during or at the end of Requiem Cafe. And there are other Homestuck fans that are completely sane such as @casey-lalonde-egbert @caligvlasaqvarivm My friend and amazing artist @sahxyel And many others. You just have to look through really hard to find the good ones out of the bad. I just happen to make myself stand out to be more dedicated to post a bit more daily about this ship that I hate and not cave in to things like threats or insults. Part of me wishes others could be more free to say what they want. But sadly, with how shit like doxxing is easily more accessible and people gathering a group to harass someone, I can understand why are seldom to do so unless they prepare a lot of good measures to protect themselves from harm. If not just within the Homestuck fandom, it can be in other fandom spaces or creativity in general for things like art and music. See people harassing Japanese artists on Twitter as an example of Westerners using their own language to bully someone who barely knows it. I'd definitely scrap and erase Davekat as a whole. As well as try to bring back that everything and anything is canon, so people can like whatever they want, draw or make whatever they want, and not harass others for it. Because anything goes and if you don't like it, just ignore them. Another would be letting others interpret their own ending, which somewhat coincides with everything and anything is canon part. But that means shit like Epilogues, Pesterquest, and Homestuck 2/Beyond Canon are gone and never were canon. Let people decide what their ending they want. Lastly, admitting that Hiveswap was a scam and cancelled for good. It would suck for the people who had paid money for it, but hey, at least it is better than dragging out the dead horse and hope for the people who think the game is going to be complete. In the words of Bernie Sanders that the WhatPumpkin Team and the fandom had loved so much:

LUKE JAMES MILTON and his cousin CASEY ELIZABETH MILTON-PETERS from BODYSHARE depicted by @crystalline-sanders!!
Luke Milton made a deal with the devil. Now, he's getting everything he ever wanted: musical opportunities, charting albums, world tours, and a thriving fanbase. The only cost? His body, which he now shares with the devil itself as it goes about its mysterious business. All in all, the tradeoff isn't too bad. He's also always wanted an intimate connection.
BODYSHARE is OUT NOW!!
[ID: Two images, each depicting a character in a variety of poses. The first shows Luke Milton, a white man with hazel eyes and blond hair, wearing dark blue jeans, a white t-shirt, converse-style sneakers, and either a blue or orange flannel, as well as a gold pendant on a thin chain. He is singing, strumming a dark wood guitar, or scowling. The second shows Casey Milton-Peters, a Black woman with hazel eyes and curly dark brown hair, wearing dark jeans, a red t-shirt, white and red sneakers, and a belt with a gold buckle. She is leaning on her cane, waving over her shoulder, smirking, or looking out with concern. END ID.]
