no but imagine we would get a season 2 and there would be a really old guy becoming the gangs client and when he shows up at the office he would be like „— wait a minute, i know you :O“ to edwin and edwin would be like „eh i’m pretties sure you don’t“

but turns out the guy does know him, he even knows edwin’s name and year of death. the gang is getting properly confused and charles gets a bit protective, until it turns out that the old man went to their school a couple of years after edwin’s death and there was a picture of edwin in some sort of showcase for winning an award for like fencing or some other posh sport and charles would just be like

„excuse me?? you could defend yourself all this time“

and edwin would roll his eyes and respond with „of course i can charles just not with boxing gloves“

and then the guy would add „no one has won the international championship since you died, yknow“

and then the entire gang would be like „INTERNATIONAL?“

and that’s how they find out that edwin can be absolutely deadly with a saber (but he’s still shit at boxing)

Headcanon: Ghosts can use landline phones rather easily, however if you can’t perceive ghosts, them talking just sounds like demonic screeching and horror movie sound effects coming through the phone.

Post-canon, Crystal is hanging out with her new normal girl friends and her phone rings and she has to be like “I’m sorry, I have to take this. It’s……work.” and she moves just a few feet away and her friends listen to her have a normal conversation with what sounds like the souls of the damned.

Crystal: What is it?

Phone: *Garbled sound* *SCREECHING*

Crystal: Okay, yeah, I’ll be there in 2 hours.

Phone: *The sounds of a body being dragged across a floor*

Crystal: Yes, I have all the stuff. You worry too much.

Phone: *More garbled moans*

Crystal: Okay, bye-bye. See ya in a bit.

Oh trust me, I’ve been livid with him for almost a year. His excuse was that it didn’t perform well enough, even though it outperformed some of his Good Omens Season 2 reaction videos.

love that Danny Motta reacted to the first episode of DBD, said “I’m gonna save this show,” and never looked at it again.

Hey @netflix, it’s been a year since you gave Variety the permission to announce the cancellation of Dead Boy Detectives. You had them drop the headline the Friday before Labor Day Weekend in hopes that it would be buried during the long weekend.

It didn’t.

We trended for at least a week. You said nothing.

We kept trending almost every week. You said nothing.

We raised thousands of signatures for a petition. You said nothing.

We raised money to buy a billboard. You said nothing.

We bought a second billboard. You said nothing.

Your silence is deafening. You can continue to ignore us, but as Charles says, “We’re not going anywhere.”

We will save this show.

I'm remembering how shattered and heartbroken I felt last year when I read the cancellation news late in the evening. I was standing in the kitchen and just cried until my flatmate came in and gave me a hug and I cried some more. I've never felt such genuine grief at losing a tv show, but dbd had come to mean so much to me and had been such a safe and happy place that to hear that it would not continue felt like the end of everything.

today, I still feel angry at netflix for this decision. I still feel angry on behalf of the cast and the crew who have poured so much love and time and passion into this show. but I also feel so grateful for the fandom that has grown around this story, for the beautiful art people have created, the projects we have come together for, the fics that have been written, the merch and the meet ups. I feel grateful for the support and love I can feel from everyone in this fandom daily, and more than anything I need you all to know how wonderful you are, how much I appreciate interacting with you all and sharing this space with you every day.

but above all, today, one year after the cancellation, I feel more determined than ever to fight for this show that has touched so many people and moved so many of us so deeply. Edwin and Charles felt like their deaths didn't matter because no one ever solved them and people just moved on, forgot that they ever existed. And it is because of that that their cases matter so much to them. They have to matter. And in the same way, I feel like we have it within us to make sure the world knows how much their story matters. That it matters to tell stories about connection and queerness, about the broken, the beaten and the damned.

I know this fandom will carry on, that it will continue to be a safe space for those who need one, and that Edwin and Charles and Crystal and Niko will stay with us and help us deal with the world when things get rough. And somewhere along the way, I know we can find a new home for our show, a way for the story to continue.

The show Dead Boy Detectives is one of the best shows to ever grace the screen. It's a character-driven supernatural mystery drama featuring excellent plots, pacing, dialogue, costumes, set design, cinematography, and music. The main characters are three-dimensional flawed people with their own secrets, struggles, and arcs for character growth. The show addresses difficult topics while maintaining its humor and message of hope. Characters show strength through listening, compassion, and good detective work, instead of through violence. The show also offers incredible female and POC characters with diverse personalities and strengths, as well as positive queer and neurodivergent representation, something sorely lacking in mainstream culture, which is greatly appreciated by audiences. And this show certainly found its audience. Fans have been literally begging for a second season for over a year, organizing and fundraising, sending letters and putting up billboards in L.A. and Times Square.

So, I have to ask, Netflix... why did you cancel this show?

We won't forget. We won't give up. We won't let this case grow cold. Bring back our show. Our ghosts and our stories matter. Bring our detectives home.

Being an American has cause me to distance myself from it purely because it makes me so depressed to see the country in this state versus how beautiful it is in the film.

Thinking once again about how desperately I need flashbacks and pre-canon content of the boys.

Something that I've noticed about Charles and Edwin during the first half of the season is how much Charles downplays, brushes off, and teases Edwin for being worried, but during the very first sequence, it's him that brings up the fear of Death separating them. It's Charles that talks about how he would feel better if Edwin could defend himself despite the fact that they don't appear to encounter truly dangerous cases that require physical fighting often.

The switch happens, because of course it does, when Crystal shows up.

Suddenly, Death being in their office recently isn't a big deal. Edwin's "such a worrier". He "always fixates on the worst outcome". He sarcastically says the Cat King "tricked his wary partner into allowing the bracelet to happen". Edwin "overreacts" to the news of Esther not only knowing they're still in town, but being immortal.

It makes me wonder how much of those responses are Charles trying to come across as cool and collected in front of Crystal, because when paired with the opening sequence, it feels out of character for him to be so dismissive of Edwin’s concerns.

I think Charles stayed on the outside because if Esther were to return, he’s the one who has the best chance against her of the two of them.

Charles letting Edwin go into the cabinet in Esther's house is hilarious to me cause in a fanfic he would NEVER do that!
