Mayuri Kurotsuchi (Bleach) - Oneshot: Heal.

“Everyone knows the betrayal on the surface.” 

Those were the words that Aizen used.

Now laying on the ground, you understood. The battle with Aizen was messy, and when the Vizards joined to help with his defeat, you felt a bit numb. Whether from the pain, or the fact that your friends were still alive after all these years.

You didn’t really remember much. You’d been attacked by a hollow and just barely managed to fend off the onslaught of Menos Grande that was released into Karakura Town.

Laying there in a pool of your own blood, you sort of expected death.

Accepted it.

But it hadn’t gone that way.

You were grabbed out of danger along with the few others, and past that, you were unconscious. When you woke up, you were in the med bay, but instead of Unohana, or even Isane, Mayuri Kurotsuchi was standing over you.

“You’re awake.”

His words sounded casual, like there wasn’t a war going on in the World of the Living.

The minute you remembered, you shot upright, only to gasp and fall back against the bed.

Your entire body felt like it had been crushed and Mayuri just clicked his tongue, walking over.

“There’s no need to act rash, Aizen has been subdued. You were infected. If you move too quickly, you will die.”

Those words had you frozen in place.

Mayuri wasn’t really known for his bedside manner. That’s why the idea of dying was terrifying. You should have been strong, sucked it up, but instead a few tears slid down at the side of your cheeks.

You were scared.

Maybe that’s why he’d spoken to you.

You weren’t sure what it was, annoyance, pity? Whatever the reason, Mayuri had moved closer wearing a completely different expression.

“Don’t be naive, I won’t let you die.”

In that very moment, something about those words comforted you.

You knew him well enough to know that he didn’t care much for anything other than his experiments, so you shouldn’t have taken it to heart, but you did.

Years passed and somehow, your respect for the crazy scientist had grown. Aizen was imprisoned, the Soul Society was safe, and you had indeed survived. Even better, most of the Vizards had come back to reside at their previous posts.

Life was back to normal.

You should have no worries, yet…

“Mayuri-sama, you have paperwork.”

Nemu’s voice pulled your focus, and you blinked when you realized that you’d just been standing in the doorway with the stack in your hands. With flushed cheeks, you stepped in, placing the documents down as you bowed.

“I apologize for the delay.”

Nemu returned your bow, immediately tending to the stack as she disappeared around the corner. You straightened, and you intended to excuse yourself. However when you opened your eyes, he was standing right in front of you, almost looking down due to the height difference. You were caught a bit off guard.

“I-Is there a problem Kurotsuchi-taicho?”

He was just looking at you, and the longer you stood there, the faster you could feel your heart race. You were almost convinced that he could see it all. Your past vulnerability, uncertainty, and even the feelings that you’d developed that day as he worked to heal you.

It was stupid, it wasn’t anything special. You’re just another member in his division, not even a seated officer. It’s his duty to help, look after his subordinates.

He’s also a very prideful man.

He likes nothing more than to express success in his experiments. His words that day had been more for his ego than anything, so you shouldn’t even give it a second thought. But you can’t help it. Regardless of what he was thinking at that moment, all you needed to hear was that everything would be okay, and he had given you that with so much certainty, as if your life meant everything.

“Mayuri-sama.”

The sudden call made you flinch, and you stammered.

“I-I need to get going, please excuse me!”

You flash stepped before anything else could be said and he just watched you leave.

When you were in the clear, you felt both embarrassed and flushed. You wish you could banish the intensity of his eyes, or the gentle reminder of his gaze. Like that day, he’d been watching you, as if to ensure that you were alright.

With a heavy sigh, you looked down at your palm when you finally calmed down.

“Did he sense it too?”

You’re positive it wasn't noticeable. A recent altercation with a hollow had left a bigger injury than you predicted. You’re healed up now. So it’s not an issue, but maybe that’s what brought the nostalgic feeling. It’s been in a while since you’ve needed a hand like that.

“Your body heals remarkably fast, especially for such an injury. You must have a guardian close by.”

That’s what Unohana said after she’d tended to you. You’re not sure what to say to that. You don’t feel as if much has changed, but it must have.

Closing your fist, you try to carry on your day as normal. There’s no use worrying about any issue that might not even be there.

For the majority of the day it does work. You’re just carrying out regular tasks. You’re usually available to help Akon with any reports. For the most part he’s busy, so you come and go as you please.

As it draws closer to the night, activity dies down. You intend to make one last trip before you are dismissed. When you walk into the research lab, you don’t really expect anyone else to still be there. Yet when you step inside, you almost fall over.

Mayuri looks up immediately and you’re a bit embarrassed.

“T-Taicho. I’m sorry for the intrusion.”

You place down your stack on the table, taking a step back.

“I’ll leave you to it.”

You try to retreat.

“You were hurt recently.”

You flinched.

“H-How did you-”

“Your body compensates when you’re injured.”

He stepped forward, placing his forefinger on your forehead and you flinched when your body seemed to give off a gentle blue glow. It’s gone just as quickly as it appeared and you look down.

“When I cured your infection, I gave you a treatment that helps your body and reiatsu to react defensively. No other agents can enter your body, especially those linked to hollows. Even when you’re unconscious, your body can protect you from outside attacks. It forms a barrier to help you heal faster regardless of the injury.”

Your eyes grew wide at the information, and suddenly it made sense. The healing, it was all because of him. You can’t believe he did such a thing. All you can think about is that you need to show your gratitude.

“T-Thank you Kurotsuchi-taicho!”

You bow, because you are more than grateful. Not only had he healed you that day, but he gave you a boost to protect you in future battles.

You shouldn’t feel so happy for something so small, he’s probably done this for many others, but you can’t help it. You straighten with a smile, one that he isn't ignorant to.

“Since I’ve helped you, you’re in my debt.”

That statement isn’t what you expect.

“Eh?”

“Surely you didn’t think I gave you such an advantage for free. Don’t you intend to repay your debt?”

You’re flustered.

“O-Of course!!”

“Very well, follow me, you will become my apprentice.”

He turns, and for a moment, you think you’re hallucinating. When he gets to the door, you stumble after him.

Mayuri hides smirk just as the door closes behind you.

And that ( once the violence is chosen ) is partially reluctant about said violence.

And embraces it at 66 to 75 percent.

Execution 100.

Jean-Luc Picard. A starfleet captain that understands violence is sometimes that answer. And reluctantly embraces that violence with a precise yet reluctant yield.

79 percent . But with an execution of 200.

Kathryn Janeway.

A starship captain that understands that ( some times ) violence is used as a tool.

And when that some times arrives... she hits You over the head repeatedly like a shovel.

Reluctant 80 percent.

Shovel smashing 1000.

Ben Sisko. A starship captain that will punch You in your face. If need be. He won't like it. But. He will punch you.

Reluctantly level 80.

Punch you in the face level 2000 to 3000.

Captain Seven ( of once upon a time ) Nine.

Understands extreme violence.

Will ( if necessary) seriously fuck you thee fuck up . Learned from her foster Mom ( the borg queen ) and her other adopted Mom ( janeway ).

Level of fucking you up ( probably ) : 3000 to 5000.

who succeed rex as captain of the 501st?

As we all know rex became a comander after ahsoka left the jedi order. My question is who succeeded him?. Like we know that Vaughn (defo misspelt that) was the captain on mandalore but I refuse to belive a random clone we never met before succeeded *the* captain rex.

This leafs to an interesting theory of mine: there was brief period of time (about a month or so) where fives was captain. My evidence is that fives and rex had a good relationship and i think rex would be the one to choose his successor

Captain fives was shot by comander fox and his successor was either jesse or appo but I would put money on appo since he was made comander when rex joined the 332nd. Still not impossible that jesse could have been captain but I personally don't belive he ever was.
