I absolutely love just how many time-travel fix-it fics there are in this fandom

i feel like, actually, i know that wei wuxian is definitely the more serious parent between him and lan wangji - not as in personality, but in the way they treat their kids' needs (like studies, personal belongings, etc)

the last word deciding anything to do with their kids is wei wuxian's, he's the one everyone looks when they ask for something because as much as a fake teary eyes works wonders with lan wangji, it doesn't matter because if wei wuxian says no then it's a no

It's almost laughable to think Lan Jingyi and Lan Sizhui care or want the attention of Jiang Cheng or even do respect him. The only one courteous is Lan Sizhui who speaks to Jiang Cheng in deference to Lan Wangji. Lan Jingyi has no issue stating that Jiang Cheng is discourteous and rude to Lan Wangji, the man he does actually admire.

Jiang Cheng is no one's role model and is the negative mirror to Lan Wangji in how children and junior cultivators reach to them. The only one deferential to Jiang Cheng, is Jin Ling out of loyalty of being family, but even that begins to be overshadowed by Jin Ling's growing admiration for Wei Wuxian.

And at any point of the story the children either ignore him as Lan Wangji does, or call him difficult or unreasonable. There is a direct contrast to how the juniors that do know Lan Wangji literally flock to him and look to him for direction, and Wei Wuxian eventually as well with no regard to Jiang Cheng. Who mind sarcastically stated Lan Wangji had no business disciplining Jin Ling, who was stating it was okay to leave cultivators, trapped in nets left by Jiang Cheng and himself, to die if they ran into the threat on Dafan Mountain.
