Andromeda knew of Mr Fernsworth, it was only by name, not personally. She supposed she was around Regulus’ age but his reputation preceded him. 

Due to her research there was a need for specialised materials and it was coming to a dead end on her own, she had some family archives, and some family history, but after being disowned she could not go to the source to get what she needed.

That is when she found Mr Fernsworth, a Historian that incurred in various researches and that she could hire, at least for a short amount of time, to get the information she needed.

She requested a meeting, and arrived at his office on time, hoping that her sources were correct and Mr Fernsworth would actually help her. 

Knocking on the door she waited to be answered.

Thanks for the compliment and the ask! I want to take a moment to talk about Chapter 3 of Verbanden & Geesten.

I'd known for a while that I needed to send Kaz to his childhood home. Take a look at what visiting the farm might do to his psyche, if he gives himself the chance to really spend time there, revisit his past. It was one of the harder things I've written, in terms of emotional processing, not only for Kaz as a character, but for myself.

I've spent a lot of time, over the last few years, starting to unravel my own childhood traumas. With my therapists, with close friends. One of those friends has DID (Dissociative identity disorder), and we've discussed how trauma in kids, especially autistic kids, can manifest in masking to the degree that your mind splits into alters. She's given me insight into not only DID, but other facets of mental health as well. Our trading of 'funny childhood stories that turn out to be trauma' has been helpful for both of us. She's also an amazing writer, and we trade reading commentary.

I explore the possibility of a DID diagnosis in Kaz a lot in my stories. The friend I mentioned has talked at length about what it was like to gain back her core alter, her original self, during her journey through mental health exploration. I realized that might happen for Kaz, if he got to a place where he was starting to open up with Inej, with Jesper and Wylan. By going to the farm, Kax triggers childhood memories to surface, and comes face to face with parts of his mind he'd long thought were dead. Like the inner Kaz Rietveld, and the more true version of Jordie.

I thought I truly put him through the wringer, and I will tell you I cried more than a few times, during the writing and edit runs. And then... Then the wife of my friend read Verbanden & Geesten. And she said something that sticks with me. "I love how gentle you are with Kaz."

I thought, "I guess?" But in reality... I want for Kaz to grow, to heal, to be able to accept love and praise. I want him to be able to be Kaz Rietveld sometimes. And in order to do that, he had to go through the pain of unlocking that inner vault that had been untouched for so long. To face his past, and invite it forward. And that's why Chapter 3 of Verbanden & Geesten is one of my favorite things I've written so far.

One thing that really soured the ending of Crooked Kingdom for me...

was the thing about Jesper playing the stock market. That is STILL GAMBLING and he's supposed to be recovering? And it's weird to me how the finances work between him and Wylan. The dynamic makes me so uncomfortable. Bardugo writes Jesper like a child when he's the older one, and the stock stuff feels like enabling even though there's an attempt not to portray it that way. I also felt that the little scrap we got with Kaz saying he's missed around the Slat was not enough given the development of their friendship during the book that got totally dropped before the end--and of course Kaz didn't even say it to him directly. Sigh.

Jesper undergoes so much during the series, and his ending felt like such a step back to me, and it makes me sad.

Asinhell Announces European Summer Run Including Major Festivals and Club Shows!

Following the release of their acclaimed debut album Impii Hora (Metal Blade Records), Asinhell, the new death metal band featuring Volbeat's Michael Poulsen, Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth) and Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy), have announced a European tour that includes festivals as well as intimate club shows. Full dates below. Label mates Endseeker will be support on all headline shows except for Zurich, where the band will be supported by New Zealand powerhouse Alien Weaponry and Copenhagen, where Sickomania (featuring Jesper K Olsen, Michael's former bandmate in Dominus) will open the show.

Joining the band on the road will be legendary Danish producer Jacob Hansen (ex-Invocator) on bass as well as Flemming C. Lund of The Arcane Order on lead guitar, making the band's first live incarnation the same lineup that performed on Impii Hora.
