Andromeda was the quiet sibling. Middle child, well-mannered, and clever. Cygnus and Druella thought little of their secondborn until the day the teen ran off without a second glance. Walburga blasted Andromeda’s name off the tapestry, and the family was supposed to think little of the traitor. Ignorance should have been bliss, but Andromeda was the main focus of the pureblood tabloids. Runaway, pregnant, and married to a muggleborn, all while a war was looming overhead. It was risky, but Andromeda chose happiness, and happiness was what they got for a while.

Everything changed the day Frank Longbottom showed up at the Tonks’ residence. Andromeda exchanged no pleasantries since the auror’s arrival was unannounced. Edward had gone out to run errands, and Frank brought the news that Ted would not return. There was no explanation since details were still being examined, but Andromeda could piece together that there was an attack and several community members had vanished without a trace.

There was no time to mourn and no one to talk to when it came to no gut feeling that the love of their life may still be around. Andromeda’s family was all too happy to regain control of the daughter that got away. There was one condition when it came to being kept out of harm’s way. Andromeda would marry Laurent Burke - no questions asked, no complaints, and a pregnancy announced within a year of marriage. 

As much as Andromeda would have put up a fight on the matter, it wasn’t worth the risk of putting Nymphadora in harm’s way. There would be no forgiving themselves if the only source of happiness in their life got destroyed. That thought alone left Andromeda biting their tongue and agreeing to the terms. Keep Nymphadora safe and allow the rest to fall into place, finding room for rebellion once certain the purebloods weren’t planning to make an example out of their small family.

Severus Prince - Andromeda occasionally got potions from Severus, keeping to slight banter when speaking to them. Andromeda was already disowned when rumors of Severus being Abraxas’ child spread and it was nice to have the purebloods’ interest off of them for a little while. Being thrust back into the pureblood world has Andromeda realizing they and Severus may be more similar to each other than initially thought.

Edward Tonks - Losing Edward nearly cost Andromeda everything. Livelihood and a life spent content in a cottage by the coast came crashing down the moment Ted failed to return from running errands. An auror arrived at the door to deliver the news that Edward was presumed dead, but the gut feeling that Andromeda’s soulmate was gone forever didn’t accompany receiving that news.

Laurent Burke - Despises. In a last-ditch effort on the Black’s end of things, there is a betrothal in the works between Laurent and Andromeda. Strict expectations of producing a child within a year of the marriage have been made clear, with Andromeda having little choice but to accept fate. It’s that or risking losing Nymphadora - the only good thing left in Andromeda’s life.

Narcissa Malfoy - Trying to pull Narcissa back out of the clutches of Lucius and Bellatrix and back onto the good side. Andromeda is unaware that Narcissa pulls many of the strings behind the family’s involvement in the Dark Lord’s cause.

What’s your relationship like with Bella and Cissy?

Hello! Thank you for the question!

I love my sisters dearly and always have, but as we get older our relationship is weakening a bit. The blossoming war is really no help to our relationship, either, the three of us wanting to take different approaches on it.

With Bella, we have always butted heads, but we still got along. With the war, though, it is getting harder and harder to understand her. She is so obsessed with the dark arts and pureblood supremacy...  it scares me sometimes. I only want what is best for her, and I am scared that her current path is not it. 

As for Cissy, she is a darling and it is hard for me to see her as old as she is. I have always been closer to her and vice versa, something about the younger sister dynamic being easier for me. I do worry for her occasionally since she is chasing after that Malfoy boy, but I trust that she can make the right choices for herself. She isn’t one to let someone push her around, even if she doesn't outwardly argue it. And at least he is rich... so she can live comfortably.

Edward “Ted” Tonks, 28, Hufflepuff Alum - Presumed Dead

Edward Tonks, Lily Potter, and Marz McKinnon went missing on October 31st. Many believe they are dead but their relatives believe otherwise. Something terrible is afoot and there is no knowing what the outcome may lead to.

Abandoned at a young age and deemed a “problem child,” Ted never had a place to call home. Their youth was spent moving from foster home to foster home with no permanent space to call their own. Emotional outbursts and things seeming to go wrong everywhere the child went were the main reasons adults wanted nothing to do with them. Misunderstood and without stable schooling, Ted was left near tears the day Hogwarts’ headmaster arrived to explain the school could take them. Only then did Ted know what it meant to have a home and be surrounded by people that wanted to support them. The adjustment was tough due to an unconventional upbringing but the professors were patient enough to help Ted learn and grow.

Edward didn’t refer to somewhere as home until meeting Andromeda. The definition of the word changed from somewhere to someone, with Ted content to be at Andromeda’s side despite their differences in blood type. Being a muggle was something that caused much consternation but Ted knew better than to let negative comments get to them. The two went on to marry and start a family and settled into an idealistic lifestyle.

As with all happy things in Ted’s life, the fairytale-like existence came to an abrupt end. They had gone out to grab groceries for Nymphadora’s favorite meal and never returned. The only memory Ted could recall of the day was everything going black and not being able to see once they came to. Pain and suffering are what they have come to know, with Edward trying their best to appease the death eaters. The hope is a bleak one, but maybe they may be able to do a good enough job to one day see their spouse again.

Frank Longbottom - Once an ally and close friend, Edward hopes that Frank is still there to protect their family. Ted knows the Longbottoms are good people and doesn’t think that they will so easily be swayed to the dark side.

Rodolphus Lestrange - Smug comments about Andromeda are the only thing that have given Edward the slightest idea of who they are dealing with. At least, that was until a visit from both in-laws left Ted well aware that the Tonks and Lestrages don’t see eye to eye when it comes to family loyalty. 

Andromeda Tonks - Andromeda is their soul mate, and it kills them every day that he can’t be by their side protecting them. It hurts more than the torture of the idea that they left them behind. Ted does what the death eaters say though, the only reason being knowing it might one day get them back to their spouse and child.

Are leo lupine and teddy lupine the same person?

For the Time Traveling Nymph: Alternate Ending? Yes! The character known as Leo Lupin is written to be a copy of Teddy Lupin. More notes below the line:

I'd have named him Teddy for the fic, but I ran into a few problems. First, there is a Theodore Nott in the same year and I didn't want Dora to call him Theodore or Thaddeus. Second, since Ted Tonks is still alive for this fic, it didn't make sense for Dora to name her son after her dad. Plus, explaining the "Muggle" name of Edward to Voldemort and her family would've been hard.

I chose Leo and Lyra for the names a) because of alliteration (JKR uses a LOT of alliteration in her side character names), b) because they are stars/constellations, which is very fitting for these kiddos, and c) I liked them.
