big idea!!! what if instead of annabeth falling off the cliff with the manticore!! the manticore drags her to the edge of the cliff so it doesn't fall alone!! and percy sees what's happening!! and wills a nearby water source to take hold of her hand!! because he wants to prove himself as a big three kid!! but the water does not catch her in time!! and percy has to watch annabeth fall into what looks like a dark and bottomless pit!!!

actually, in the demigod diaries, it was stated that hundreds of demigods that fought by kronos's side were killed !! we even got a perspective from alabaster, the lone survivor. the demigod diaries isn't one of the MOST read of the pjo series, but they are completely canon.

Chapter Summary:

“What the fuck do you want from me?!” Alabaster shouted into the sky and the vast waters. Silence greeted him. At least this illusion got one detail right. In the end, he was alone. It was the culmination of his choices. Everyone he cared about left him behind; they either died or abandoned him.

A straight-up massacre of a bunch of demigods? Do you seriously expect me to believe that Percy wouldn't find out about that? There is no way in hell the gods would be able to cover something like that up so completely that none of the Manhattan defenders who could talk to Percy or Annabeth or anyone else close to him would know about it. All Percy would have to do is ask what happened to all the other demigods and he'd get to the truth sooner or later. And the idea that he wouldn't go on the warpath the second he learned about this is ludicrous.

Also, sometimes writers just get stuff wrong, and Rick himself has shown that he sometimes loses track of his own lore. This sort of thing really wrecks the ending of the Last Olympian since it says that something this horrible was going on right in the middle of what was supposed to be the happy finale ending on an optimistic high note. The only thing preventing it from being a straight up Cerberus Retcon is the fact that it's a tie-in story and not part of the actual plot.

the gods have a lot of influence. who says they didn't threaten people who knew? there was only one survivor of the titan army massacre, and that was alabaster, and he's staying away from the camp. they wouldn't be hearing it from him. who says they weren't hunted down after the camp retreated back to heal? it probably took multiple days to get every camper in camp half-blood settled, healed, or a proper funeral. in those days, maybe those titan army demigods were killed, because it's already confirmed. also, the mist exists, and it does work on demigods; who says it didn't block the massacre from their minds? the mist can keep every single person in manhattan from finding out about the titan army and the titan war and only being mildly confused from what i remember, so i think it'd be very easy for the mist to work on the demigods, too. (i.e, the mist does still work on demigods, just not to the extent it would on a mortal) and sometimes rick gets some things wrong, but in the last olympian we were in the perspective of camp half-blood. he was right. this was the 'happy finale ending' for them. for the titan army on princess andromeda, they were being slaughtered. as i said, you're free to headcanon it as not canon, thats alright!! thats okay!!

Modern AU where the story of PJO is just the make-believe game of 7 y/o childhood BFFs Percy and Annabeth while being babysat and getting to tag along with Annabeth's cool 16 y/o brother Luke and his friends. Luke ain't exactly the most thrilled about having two kids tag along with him and his friend group but both his parents are out and he does enjoy spending time with his little sister. It's not like it's the worst thing ever either, Ethan and Alabaster like playing bad guys. Chris and Silena both are honestly just chilling and messing around and they even ended up running into Thalia at some point.

Just- why does he have to always play the main villain????
