dp x dc prompt #23
Danny gets summoned by the justice league, but he’s tired, just finished a ghost fight, missed his morning coffee, is running late on several college assignments, and has been summoned multiple times this week.
Or- Danny screams at the justice league for summoning him until someone offers to help with his rogues and homework, not that they really know what they’re offering to do. The summoning is wrapped up, the big bad is defeated, and Danny gets to go home. Too bad that one of the heroes is absolutely infatuated.

Why would you be able to find the area from the height and radius but not the height from the area and radius it's a 1:1 operation aaaaaaaa
Why is trigonometry
(I was trying to figure out how to divide a circle into equal area parts using horizontal lines. Part of this would involve a formula for finding x in something like x - sin(x), which doesn't seem to be a thing even though it looks like it should be)
(Probably not the best method for what I wanted to do anyway)
(Hey did you know that it's possible to express the exact sine or cosine of some angles but not others? At least not without bringing the number i into it. Trig, why)

Masterlist
Pairings: Natasha romanoff x reader
Prompt: highschool!au where nat has a fat crush on yelenas bsf and needs a little help with what to do. Nat also has adhd :)
Warnings: swearing, nat being a dummy with adhd, smoochin, mentions of trigonometry 😰
A/n: I’m so sorry I didn’t post it earlier! Moving kicked my ass. @m0use123 I hope I did it justice!
Tumblr media
Nobody’s pov
Natasha sighs and says
“I- I don’t know guys. It just. I can’t see her liking me back”
Wanda cuts in and says
“If there is a world where y/n doesn’t like you back then that world must be hell. Y/n is totally head over heels for you”
Nat rolls her eyes and says
“Y’all are so full of it. There’s no way that y/n even remotely likes me”
Maria says
“Actually we’re not kidding. She’s got the hots for you”
Natasha scoffs and says
“Okay. Whatever you say guys. Whatever makes you happy”
Carol gasps and says
“We should set you guys up!”
Natasha’s eyes go wide and she says
“No. No no no. No way. You are not setting us up”
Wanda then says
“But you’d be so cute together!”
Natasha sighs and says
“It’s not gonna happen. I mean. Could you imagine Lena’s reaction to us dating?! She’d flip her shit!”
Wanda looks over and says
“I don’t know. Yelena might be her best friend but they kind of act like sisters. Why not make it real?”
Natasha rolls her eyes and says
“Just stop guys.”
They all give up on their attempts but then they get an idea.
They subtly start texting back and forth on a group text without Natasha.
Ugly hags- Nat 💋
(Wand&Rabbit- Wanda
Christmas Carol- Carol
Mother Mary- Maria)
Wand&Rabbit: we should totally set them up
Christmas Carol: aren’t Lena and y/n supposed to come here later? We could make up a reason to get Nat and y/n alone 🤷‍♀️
Mother Mary: what excuse could we use to get them in nat’s room for enough time to figure out whatever they need to?
Wand&Rabbit: maybe we could play truth or dare and make them do 7 minutes in heaven! 🥵😏😏
Mother Mary: too obvious
Christmas Carol: Ria’s right we can’t be THAT obvious. Nat will know we’re up to something. She’s like a spy. Honestly I’m surprised she’s not sus about us texting rn 🥸🥸🥸
Wand&Rabbit: I think she’s looking at y/n’s insta rn. She’s prob lost in her eyes 🙄
Mother Mary: what if we use school as an excuse? I mean… y/n likes to tutor other students. And Nat has a trig text coming up. 👀
Christmas Carol: but Nat is like hella good at trig. Won’t y/n see right through it?
Wand&Rabbit: actually nat has been really stressed and has been wanting to work on more trig stuff. That’s a really good excuse. Especially since Lena despises trig. She’ll want nothing to do with it.
Mother Mary: so plan tutor sesh/ makeout sesh is a go?
Christmas Carol: I’m all for it.
Wand&Rabbit: I’m game.
Mother Mary: okay. Just checked y/n’s location. She’s pulling up with Lena now. 🤭
Christmas Carol: let’s do this. 🤫
Nobody’s pov
As Yelena walks in y/n trails behind her helping her carry a handful of groceries.
Yelena turns y/n and says
“Will you go get my fucking sestra? She needs to help with these. I got them. It’s her turn to unload them”
Y/n smiles and nods immediately knowing they get to see nat.
As y/n trots up to Natasha’s room she knocks and opens the door once she hears a come in.
She opens the door to find only Wanda, Maria, and carol
“Oh hey guys! Did you see nat? Lena is complaining that she needs to unload the groceries”
Carol says
“I think she’s in her closet maybe you could find her in there?”
Wanda smacks carols arm and says
“Actually! Tell nat we will handle the groceries”
They all make faces at each other which makes y/n quirk a brow but nonetheless she goes to knock on the closet door when they all move downstairs.
“Nat? Do you need help?”
“What! Oh! Uh- no! Shit- I’m good!”
As natasha says this she bumps her head on a hanger rack and y/n is concerned
“Are you sure? It doesn’t sound good in there”
Y/n goes to open the door and before she can see Natasha gets nervous and says the first thing that comes to mind
“I’m naked!!”
Y/n immediately closes the door and says
“Oh! I’m sorry I- I didn’t know”
She walks away before she makes it any more awkward.
As Natasha hears her crushes feet putter away, she slides down the door with a sigh.
Y/n goes back downstairs to help the others and Maria says
“So, is nat alright?”
Y/n blushes slightly and says
“Oh- yeah she um- she’s changing I think”
Maria nods her head and Wanda chirps in
“Hey! You’re good at trig right?”
Y/n nods her head and Wanda continues
“And you tutor other student who need help right?”
Y/n once again nods and says
“Why? Does somebody you know need help?”
Carol chips in and says
“Oh yes! Nat is really needing some help with studying for the upcoming exam”
Y/n furrows her brows and says
“Isn’t Natasha like way good at trig?”
Carol blanks and Maria falls in to help
“Yeah! But she’s been like really stressed out and has been trying to study in new ways! We think that having to study with someone who has the same skill set would maybe help reassure her”
Y/n nods in understanding and says
“That’s understandable. I could probably use some practice of my own as well! Does she know what time she wants to do it?”
Wanda nods and says
“Yes! Right now!”
Y/n pauses and says
“Oh- well I’m supposed to hang out with Lena today”
They pout and Carol says
“We will make sure you get the time you require with Yelena but I really think it would calm her nerves if you helped her now and she’s also been having a hard time with focusing on it as well. You know how she gets distracted”
Y/n weighs their options and finally agrees.
“Okay! Will you tell Yelena to not wait up on me? And help her with dinner please? Melina is out of town and Lena is just about as bad as Alexie with her cooking”
Y/n’s pov
I make my way up to Natasha’s room and knock again.
“Are you still changing? Or can I come in?”
She mumbles a small come in and I open the door
I step in and say
“Hey!”
Honestly I’m excited to spend time with her. I look at her desk and there’s books and papers spread out all messy.
She is drying her hair since she just got out of the shower.
God her natural hair is so beautiful. I wish she didn’t straighten it as much
“What do you want?”
She kind of comes off defensive and I say
“I don’t mean to intrude but the girls said that you needed some help with trig? I’m not as good as you but they said that you need to practice with someone who’s at least half way decent.”
She scoffs and says
“Of course. They don’t know what they’re talking about. I don’t need your help”
I sigh and sit down on her bed opposite of where she’s sitting.
“I never said you did. I just thought that maybe we could help each other? I mean we’re both really good, but sometimes I find it hard to get good practice in when I’m the one being the teacher you know? Like tutoring is hard. And I do it so much that I barely have any time to study myself. I thought we could work together.”
She thinks about it and says
“Y-you don’t have to if you don’t want to”
I smile and set my hand on hers.
“I want to I probably wouldn’t have offered if I didn’t want to.”
She chuckles awkwardly and I say
“Let’s get started”
I stand up and step over to her desk and she immediately hops up.
“Oh! Uh don’t mind that mess!”
She scratches the back of her neck and says
“I- um. I’ve been a little messy lately”
She tries to go and fix it but I stop her wrist and say
“I said I’d help you right? We can clean it up together and then start. Yeah?”
Her face turns red when I grab her wrist and she says
“Y-yeah”
It’s honestly cute. Oh great. Butterflies. I hate when she does that to me.
I let go of her hand and pull up a chair so we can both sit. We start organizing her desk in a way that is efficient but also where she can easily manage it.
Then we open the books. We go back and forth with trig until our conversations drift off and we get distracted.
Now we’re talking about Chappell Roan and Reneé Rapp and how great they are.
“What are your favorite songs nat?”
“By Chappell Roan or Reneé Rapp?”
“Hmm. Both!”
“Let me think… This is hard. But I think my favorite by Reneé Rapp is I do and my fav by Chappell Roan right now is picture you”
I smile and heat rises to my cheeks and I say
“Is there a person that you think about when you listen or just good beats?”
She turns red and says
“Uh- yeah there’s a girl. But no more questions about that! What are your favorites?”
I know immediately but I pretend to think
“Hmm… I think snow angel is my favorite by Reneé Rapp and then by Chappell Roan… kaleidoscope!”
I smile knowing what her next question will be and I say
“And I think of my dad in snow angel because it talks about addiction and my dad is an alcoholic. Which you know is why I spend a lot of time here. And I think about a girl for kaleidoscope as well”
She smiles and says
“That’s rough. I’m so sorry about your dad”
I shrug and say
“It’s alright. I can’t change him. But maybe he’ll be better one day”
I sign and space out for a split second before I shake myself out of it and say
“Let’s finish practicing this trig!”
Honestly. It kind of startled Natasha a bit when I said that because she seemed to be spaced out as well.
“Oh! Right yes! Sorry I get so distracted all the time”
I smirk and say
“It’s okay I do too.”
We smile at each other and finish working on trig. Then I say
“We better wrap it up. We’ve been up here for an hour and Yelena is sure to start crawling her way up here soon”
“Yeah I guess so.”
I get up to go and I turn around when Natasha says
“Wait! Y/n, I just want to thank you. You didn’t have to do this for me”
I smile and say
“Don’t worry about it. I needed it too. So we’re even.”
Then I turn to her door and she follows me to the room.
As I step out of the door, I turn around and smile at nat. I hold my hand out and twirl a piece of her hair in my hand and say
"You should wear your hair natural more."
She furrows her eyebrows and says
"Why?"
I sigh and say
"It's so beautiful. I love it so much"
After I say that I kind of realize how close I got to her and how she is super tense.
Fuck I'm making her uncomfortable. God dammit y/ n you dumbass
I pull away after accidentally looking at her lips a bit too long. I feel the heat rising to my cheeks and say
"I should probably get going. Yelena is waiting for me probably so bye!”
Nat nods her head equally as awkward as me and says
"Okay bye! I love you!"
I freeze when she says this and she immediately realizes her mistake and slams the door in my face.
Did she really mean it? What the fuck?
I turn around and am about to go to the living room downstairs where Yelena is inevitably waiting for me but then I make a last minute decision and turn back around.
Yelena can wait
Nat’s pov
Fuck. I just did that. Shit shit shit. It just slipped out. I didn't even mean to. And I slammed the fucking door on her too!! She probably hates me
I am pacing back and forth in my bedroom as l contemplate my life. Then she starts banging on my door and I weigh my options.
If I let her in she might punch me in the face. But then again a punch to the face doesn’t sound half bad.
She stops knocking and says
“Nat I know you can hear me. Please let me in”
Her voice is so soft I can’t help but listen.
Y/n’s pov
The second the door swings open I step in and close the door.
“Tell me you mean it”
She looks dumbfounded and says
“Wha- what do I mean?”
I roll my eyes and say
“Tell me you meant it when you said that!”
She looks scared but defeated and says
“I meant it. I’m so sorry I-”
The second she says that I immediately pounce on her.
Her lips are so soft. And she kisses back immediately.
We kiss until I have to pull away for air and I giggle at her silly face.
“I love you too”
She widens her eyes and says
“You do?”
I laugh and say
“You know. You’re really stupid for someone who is better than me at trig”
She blushes and says
“You know, you’re really mean for someone who claims to love me”
I dramatically gasp and say
“I can’t let our friends think that you have the upper hand on me now can I?”
“I guess you’ll just have to suck it up from now on”
“From now on?”
I am literally standing in her arms with our lips slightly swollen and pink and I asked that.
She gets nervous and pulls away and says
“Well. Yeah. I thought maybe since this happened it meant we would be a thing?”
I sigh and say
“I’m sorry I didn’t mean to confuse you”
I said the wrong thing again. God dammit. Why can’t I just be normal?
She gets scared and says
“Oh. I thought you liked me. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize”
I immediately fix my mistake
“No no no! I meant I was a little nervous and confused. And I didn’t mean to confuse you. I questioned it because I didn’t know if you wanted us to be a thing or not. I would love to be a thing. But you don’t have to if you don’t want to”
I stumble over my words and ramble
“Y/n, I want to be a thing”
I smile and say
“Oh okay. That’s good”
She smiles and I say
“So does that mean?”
“That were girlfriends? Yes”
I smile and hug her and say
“This is unreal”
She pulls away and says
“I know. I’ve liked you for so long now. Honestly I think the girls just wanted you to ‘tutor’ me as a ploy to set us up”
I laugh and say
“Probably”
Then I realize that I haven’t gone down to Yelena yet and I say
“I need to spend some time with Lena. I’m sorry. Oh my god! I just realized what is Yelena gonna do when she finds out about us! She’s gonna hate me forever and try to kill me!”
I start pacing back and forth and then Natasha grabs my arms to stop me and says
“Hey hey! It’s gonna be okay alright? She might have a hard time at first but she’ll get over herself eventually.”
I sigh and say
“Thanks natty. You always know how to calm me down”
She smiles and I look at her lips again.
Before we can kiss I say
“Maybe we just don’t have to tell her yet. Let her figure it out on her own?”
Natasha smiles and says
“I like that idea. Now kiss me”
I listen and touch our lips together. It’s soft and fiery at the same time. Like her touch is burning me but it’s also soothing at the same time.
She runs her tongue along my lip and tries to gain access into my mouth but I’m a little hard to get so I don’t comply.
She obviously takes charge in the bedroom because she never acts this brave any other time.
Once she gets tired of me rejecting her she grabs my butt and I gasp when she picks me up.
She uses this time to slip her tongue into my mouth and I moan at her taste.
My hands thread into her hair as she lays us down on her bed.
We’re so lost in the moment that we don’t hear her door open
“Y/n when are you guys going to be don-”
Yelena freezes in the doorway and the rest of the girls are standing behind her with all different reactions.
We pull away at her words and our eyes are wide and Natasha scurries to get off me.
Once Yelena composes herself she clears her throat and says
“Um. Gross. But kinda… cute.”
Honestly this kind of makes my heart calm down a bit. I thought it was going to jump out of my throat for a second.
Then Wanda breaks the silence and says
“Eee!! This is great!”
Maria smirks and crosses her arms
“Glad you two losers finally figured it out”
Yelena turns to them and says
“Figured what out?”
Carol rolls her eyes and says
“These dumbasses have been crushing on each other forever!”
We both are standing there and Yelena says
“Oh. I didn’t know that. But I guess now I do”
I sigh and say
“What do you think Lena?”
She thinks for a sec and says
“I don’t give a fuck. Love who you love. But please for the love of God don’t do anything while I’m here”
I smile and say
“Don’t worry we won’t.”
“Great now that that is settled I have a movie to watch with my best friend”
Yelena grabs me and pulls me downstairs and the rest of the girls come with us.
Thankfully Lena and I never sat on the same area of the couch. She always sits on the left side and I sit in the corner of the L so nat can join me.
She sits behind me and Lena looks over, fake gags, and then plays the movie.

wingmen.
megumi fushiguro x fem.reader
no curses | high school au
warnings: slight crack, but mostly fluff.
dedicated to @xbarrjallenx
to my beloved girl,
you are all that i can think of. from your bright eyes, to the way your hair seems to shine from beneath the sunlight-
you drive me crazy.
i am madly in love with you.
please say that you’ll be mine someday?
-yours truly,
your admirer.
{ … }
your lips were parted with absolute shock in response to reading the love letter that was left within your locker. your mind was in a haze as you kept reading the neat script over and over again.
in fact, you were still in shock because you didn’t think that something so sweet could even happen to you!
you recall waking up this morning feeling stressed and nervous about your upcoming trigonometry exam. even with your best friend’s meticulous and detailed notes, you ended up goofing off with nobara and yuji and didn't do much studying (much to megumi's chagrin!)
you had plans of going over your notes with megumi during homeroom, but after receiving such a sweet love letter, your desires to study went down the drain. your eyes kept trailing over each written word, but couldn't seem to recognize the style of writing at all.
as your fingertips trace at the written words, you suddenly had a epiphany-
perhaps your friends could help you figure out just who this secret admirer was!
with your eye practically glimmering with hope, you slam your locker shut before making a mad dash to your classroom, almost too eager to see megumi, yuji, and nobara again.
{ ... }
megumi was simply looking over his notes when he sees you bursting into the classroom. your features appear flustered, and he could see the way your strands of hair fell across your face.
he feels his lips twitch in a slight smile, but successfully fights back those happy emotions because it just wasn't in his style to be anything but cool, calm, and collected while in the presence of his friends-
(even if he did have the tiniest crush on you-)
but he digresses.
while yuji and nobara were talking about some new music video that was dropped by their favorite band, you take quick strides to them while holding up what looked like a letter from within your hands.
"guys look! someone sent me a love letter!"
upon hearing your outburst, yuji and nobara stopped talking about the new music release and turn their attention to you.
"whoa! that's so cool! do you know who wrote it?"
"this is actually sooooo sweet!"
megumi frowns upon hearing how overly happy and excited yuji and nobara were, which was what made the warning bells go off within his head. standing from his seat, he closes his notebook and goes to where you were all huddled together.
megumi narrows his emerald green gaze down at nobara, seeing a suspiciously familiar piece of stationary. he was itching to see just what this letter was all about when he snatches it away from nobara's hands.
"h-hey! i was still reading that!"
but he ignores nobara's protests, scanning through each written word as his forehead began to pulse with annoyance.
this was nobara's handwriting when she actually tried to write neatly!
just what were these clowns up to?
"come with me." megumi returns the letter to you and picks up yuji and nobara by the back of their uniforms, leaving you alone as you went back to staring dreamily at your love letter.
hearing both of his friends laughing while dragging them out into the hallways was more than enough proof that they had done something. only when he knew he was away from you did he finally begin speaking.
"what the hell are you guys up to?" megumi hisses at them both, feeling the annoyance grow when they casually look away from him. "i know that letter was written by you, nobara. so spill, what's going on?"
"i'm just trying to be your wingman." she tells him with a wink, all while smirking at him. "because yuji and i both know that you don't have the balls to tell her yourself."
his face began to turn hotter in response, nearly being choked with embarrassment as he pointed an accusing finger at her, "it's none of your business! if i want to confess to her, then i'll do it on my own terms!"
"yeah, surrre, you've been saying that since the end of our middle school year... and we're in our second year of high school now." yuji reminds megumi with a snicker.
"haha, yeah, yuji knows what's up! so that's why, we're gonna keep sending your beloved letters until you actually confess!"
"no, you won't-"
nobara then flashes him a sly smile, "did you not see how happy she looked after receiving that letter? she would be utterly devastated if we stopped... or maybe... even more hurt if you don't write the letters yourself."
megumi freezes, thinking back on to the joy that paints your features and how excited you were to have such a letter. in fact, seeing your sweet smile was enough to make his heart clench in response...
perhaps the reason why he was so angry and annoyed was because his friends had managed to make you smile first-
not him.
megumi moves away from them with a click of his tongue, shoving a hand within the pocket of his pants, "fine. you got me. just... don't send her anymore letters, okay? i'll come clean to her soon."
while megumi kept his back turned, he couldn't help but smirk when he hears yuji and nobara high-fiving each other, knowing that their plan was a success.
{ ... }
at the end of the school day, (when you were sure you, yuji, and nobara had failed that trig exam), you drag your feet across the linoleum floors of your school, switching out your slippers with your actual shoes when you saw a folded note fall out of your shoe cubby.
your eyes go wide when you received yet another letter, but this time, it wasn't written on a cute stationary, or even placed in an envelope.
instead, it was a folded piece of what looked like a torn page from a notebook. feeling intrigued, you unfold the note as it read.
hey, i wanted to apologize to you, since the letter you received this morning wasn't from me-
but it was written on my behalf.
those words were really cheesy, and there's no way in hell i'd ever say such things-
but that doesn't mean that my heart doesn't race for you;
it doesn't mean that i don't find you beautiful, or think about you all the time.
if you want to know who i really am, come meet me at the school's rooftop.
i'll be waiting.
-your admirer
your heart begins to race, because this handwriting was one that you actually recognized-
for you had seen such neat writing while copying and reading over a certain sea urchin head's notes.
with your heart pounding from within the confines of your chest, you immediately push your legs forward, allowing your footsteps to echo across the floors. you ignore the burning felt against your feet as you saw the door leading to the rooftop, pushing it open with the entirety of your weight.
your chest heaves with each breath that escapes from your parted lips, eyes now narrowing with a fondness when you see megumi standing several feet away from you.
his expression was shy, with his hand running across his hair as he waits for you. allowing the door to shut from behind you, you step closer to megumi and smile up at him. you don't say a word, allowing him to speak first. your eyes meet with his tranquil gaze, basking in his sighs when he says.
"nobara was meddling again... she was the one who wrote that note and put it in your locker."
you let his admission soak in before nodding, "...and...what prompted her to do such a thing?"
megumi remains silent for several seconds before admitting, "it was because of my own hesitance."
he frames at your face with his two hands then, making your face heat up in response as you were forced to look up at him. with eyes filled with adoration for you, and you feel megumi press the pad of his thumb against your bottom lip before telling you, "but, i won't hesitate anymore..."
leaning closer to you, you allow your eyes to shut in response when his lips finally met with yours in a kiss that you had been waiting for since the moment you first laid eyes on him...

baby arsenal headcannons, arsenal wfc x teen!reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: i am so so so sorry that this isn’t an actual fic but i’ve left yous without anything for like two weeks so take this 🥰🥰🥰
warning - this isn’t proofread so pls ignore any mistakes x
-
1. she is maths no.1 public enemy - literally will stare at her homework for two hours instead of actually trying it. then the next day at school she gets in trouble for not doing it but she genuinely couldn’t care less because she’d rather have them email lia than try do trigonometry
2. her tiktok reposts and twitter likes have fans speculating like there is no tomorrow - she’s definitely liked transfer rumours on twitter before as well as reposting things she shouldn’t be and she reposts things that happened way back way but people think it’s about her current situation, leading to some very concerned fans in her tiktok comments and instagram requests.
3. baby girl has stina and laura wrapped around her finger - she’s cold? stina’s gonna give her the jumper she’s wearing. she’s hungry? laura’s up to make her something to eat, even though maus is perfectly capable of doing it herself. they’re basically on her beck and call.
4. she always curses out players in german on the pitch - when she was younger her brothers taught her the art of cursing people out in german then speaking in english to confuse them. however this did not work when arsenal played chelsea and she went flying after a tackle from nüsken, who very obviously understands german, leading to maus getting a yellow.
5. which leads to the next point which is that she gets her fair share of yellows - giving katie a run for her money, although most of hers come from back chatting the ref and not from actual gameplay, although she isn’t afraid to put in a heavy tackle here and there.
6. her + kyra = little shits on steroids - on the first media day of the season they decided to put y/n and kyra in three of the same interviews, let’s just say absolutely nothing productive happened until caitlin had to come in to do an interview with the two of them.
7. she’s lia’s no.1 reason for her early gray hairs - firstly maus is awful at answering phone calls, so if she’s out with her friends and lia needs something best believe she cannot contact her. secondly the amount of emails the school sends her may send lia into overdrive, she genuinely couldn’t care less if y/n didn’t do her homework as long as she’s passing all her classes, which she is (besides math but lia doesn’t need to know that.)
8. y/n has the best outfits - her instagram feed is filled with mirror pics of her outfits and they’re all just so good!!! she’s known for her fashionable clothes throughout the woso community.
9. she gets really really really nervous when doing interviews by herself - she already refuses to do orals in school because they stress her out too much, so after her first full 90 for arsenal she gets called to do an interview and poor girl is swaying from side to side the entire time, stumbling over her words and overall looking like a deer caught in headlights.
10. the first time she brings a girl or boy home lia gets a group of the girls to pretend they’re over for dinner without telling y/n - so then when y/n gets home she sees most of her teammates there and very hastily shoves her ‘friend’ upstairs, before going over to the girls who all tease her. then when she’s upstairs in her room with her ‘friend’ they all take turns coming upstairs to walk past the closed door to hear what they’re talking about.
11. she is a hugger of note - the first time she meant all the girls minus her shy demeanour she hugged every single teammate she met. she is also a massive cuddler, on the team bus she makes ours sit in the window seat (much to the brunettes complains) then uses kyra as a pillow which 1. forces kyra to be quiet because she doesn’t want to wake y/n and 2. she can’t move around the bus as she wants deciding to annoy everyone which the other girls are very thankful for.
12. her first crush on a girl was laura freigang, who she had seen around the german youth camps before - she even told her parents at one stage that she was going to go to penn state just like lau did but that phase was short lived when she then developed a crush on one of her teammates in her age group instead.
13. in another life she’s a dj who lives in ibiza - literally no explanation needed, she truly is a party animal at heart and would go to all the festivals and raves possible during the off season.

Math Tips
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Pictures are not mine)
Well, let me tell you, we all have this love-hate relationship with this subject, right? The worst part is that when you don't know what the heck is going on, so, as a girl who studied maths (2 Volumes/textbooks) on her own during the year she was homeschooled, here are some tips and tricks that I did to get an A+ in my math finals!
Get your syllabus together
In the beginning I had no damn idea what was going on and it was just confusing. I had to do the first thing I did was taken my index/table of contents and mark the chapters which i knew very well and the ones I had no clue about. And then i arranged them with the marking scheme, like which one carries the most marks etc etc and study accordingly.
Complete lessons/chapters that you already know
When you finish off the things you already know then that's gonna give you the confidence you need even if you know only 1-2 chapters, learn it throughout and make sure that you'll get the answer no matter how twisted the sum is. If you're doubtful about the whole textbook like any normal person.... Start with the easy ones. (I know there are literally really no "easy" chapters, spare me)
Harder chapters need hard work
Most chapters like Trigonometry proofs, Geometry proofs, Algebra, Graphs, Mensuration and Calculus etc need more than minimum effort but here's a trick, what is the common thing in this? Yes, they're all formulae and theorem based which goes to my next point. These chapters are completely based on how much you've understood your basics.
Formulae and theorem cheatsheets
Make a list of all formulae and the theorem used in the book, write them chapter wise and no printouts or digital notes. Take a paper and write it down, no excuses. It helps you while you're practicing, revising and in the last minute review, it helped me damn much. Remember, maths is a sport. The basic formulae must come to you like reflexes.
YouTube is your best friend.
For every single chapter, go and watch the basics and how a sum is done step by step. A recommendation for this is Organic Chemistry Tutor who literally is one of the reasons i passed. He has videos from basic geometry, trigonometry, statistics to calculus. Search for your own YouTubers and be clear with concepts.
Math is fully memorization
Memorize formulae and theorems with the back of your hand, you should be able to recall them within seconds. Be thorough.
Memorize basic math values (if calculator isn't allowed)
Do this if you have a majority of chapters like Statistics, Mensuration, Profit/loss calculation etc, where large numbers are concerned. Memorize the first 10 square, cube, decimal and multiplication values. It may be dry but there are literally songs available for these things, I'm serious, i learnt the first 10 cube roots by listening to Senorita xD Search for rhymes and they'll definitely be many!!
Work it out!!!!!!
Can't stress this enough, atleast 30-40 mins is the minimum for maths. I'm serious, work out each sum, don't ever think it's a waste, you'll see the results. Practice makes perfect. Work out every single sum, from examples to exercise ones cause let's be honest, our examiners love to take problems from every nook and cranny of the book.
Whiteboard method
So, I made this up and it actually works, if you have a whiteboard or anything else, once you completed a chapter, take a random page and whatever sums you have on those two pages, you need to complete within a given time limit. It helps you to identify your weak points and where the hell you're losing both time and effort and not to mention that it gives you confidence boost up.
Hope this helps :))

Are you willing to make a long personal post about how Math should be presented in an educational environment or in general conversation trying to convince the other participants about its daily usage. How it can advance a person’s problem-solving skills and approach in life.
I’m really good in Mathematics. I’ve given help for my classmates and friends about Math when they are having trouble or ask for it. But I have never been convinced of its importance outside of the classroom, outside of the test papers that gives me the variables to substitute in the given equation of that test of the day.
How can Math and it’s many properties relate back to everyday life in a casual manner?
Hm. Well, as someone who hasn't had to solve an antiderivative in years, my perspective on this is that the most important and widely-applicable skill math can teach you is the stuff behind the math - mostly the muscle-memory you get from proofs.
Math is, at its core, puzzles and logic and pattern-recognition. You learn a set of tools, you practice those tools on a set of simple problems until you get a feel for them, you are presented with a bigger problem, you recall which tools best applied to problems that are shaped like this, you break the problem down using your tools and eventually reduce it to something you know how to solve.
The fact of the matter is, the tools that are specific to branches of math don't really have much widespread use outside pure mathematics, and unless you go out of your way to keep using them you're likely to lose track of them. Studying math is not going to turn you into a super-calculator-wizard who can bounce stuff off the walls at perfect angles and do six-figure arithmetic in seconds, and I think some people feel overwhelmed at the assumption that that's what's expected of them if they learn math, and some other people feel cheated when they learn that that's absolutely not going to happen, because most writers don't know math and when they tell stories with math in them their best guess is it makes you a wizard.
I think the most advanced math I've used lately was trigonometry, and that was just because I was curious about how fast my plane was traveling relative to the sun's apparent movement at my latitude. We were flying back to the US from Iceland and we'd taken off at sunset, and we had been in that sunset for at least an hour by the time I got curious how the math worked out and started estimating our latitude, the circumference of the slice of the earth at that latitude, and correspondingly how fast we were flying vs how fast it was spinning to complete a full rotation in 24 hours. But even if the math involved didn't tap into any of the higher-level stuff I'd learned post-trig, those years doing proofs and figuring out which tools applied to which geometry meant that I could use the tools and my training applying those tools to calculate what I wanted to know, and confirm that our plane was actually outflying the sun when we were at iceland latitude, but as we curved south the sun's apparent relative movement (aka the rotational speed of that latitude of the earth) slowly accelerated until we were falling behind, landing right as the sun finally set. The math involved was high school level, but if I'd been given that problem in high school it would've taken more work and more stress to figure out how the tools I had needed to be applied to the problem I was facing. The years of practice I had tackling much more complicated proofs made the diagnostic process much faster.
I saw someone once analogize studying math to lifting weights. Where am I going to use this in real life? How often will I really be faced with two dumbbells that need to be lifted in three sets of twenty? Where am I going to apply the skill of holding a heavy thing straight out to one side of my body?
You don't lift weights because lifting weights is such a valuable and widely-applicable skillset, you do it because lifting weights makes you better at lifting everything.
You don't study math because math is going to fill your daily life with concepts that you need to prove true for 1 and for n+1 given true for n, or complex solids that you need to sum an approximate volume for, or a surplus of sunset plane flights that demand you calculate a bunch of cosines. You study math because it is the skillset of making things make sense. It trains you to break a huge, incomprehensible problem down into a series of small problems you already know how to solve. It lets you reach true and correct conclusions by starting from facts and transforming them through operations that preserve truth, and correspondingly that if you reach a false conclusion from these methods, then either the methods are flawed or the initial assumption is not as true as you believed. It teaches you to put two and two together and be confident, once you've double-checked your work, that you can say four.
This is stuff I use all the time in both my video research and my freeform writing. Building out a slow picture of how a story was told or changed over time involves finding the context it was created in, and reverse-engineering what parts of that context could have produced what standout portions of the story - what authorial or cultural bias results in this standout story element. Worldbuilding where I take two wildly disparate parts of the world, put them together and see what web of implications springs out of combining them, following the threads to new and interesting concepts that follow from what I've already established. Building a character arc by breaking down exactly what events are happening to them and what transformation each component will apply to the underlying character. If I want the story to go in a certain direction, what transformations do I need to apply to make that happen while still preserving truth? If I'm faced with a seemingly insurmountable problem, what methods can I use to break it down into bite-sized pieces?
This isn't something I think about most of the time. It's just how my brain works at this point, and I can't promise it'd work for anyone else. But thanks to all my years of hard work and training, my brain has been buff enough to solve every problem I've tangled with since graduation, and that feels pretty good.

I caught the L-O-V-E
Pairing: Katsuki Bakugou x femme!reader (reader has a pussy, uses she/her pronouns and is referred to as a girl/woman)
1.6K words
Synopsis: enemies to lovers, reader wants him but tries to fight it. Set in a quirkless AU where they're in their second year of college. This will have more parts once I write them lol
Warnings: language, mentions of drugs, mentions of sex, f!masturbation, drinking, reader gets drunk, breeding mentions, reader imagines having sex with Bakugou
MINORS DNI
Math should be illegal; you think to yourself as you toss your maths book and pencil across the room. You're in college, why should you have to learn trigonometry? You're never going to use it.
You groan and lean back in your chair, cracking your knuckles behind your head. There's a weird stain on the ceiling that's been there since you moved in, you and Ochako used to lie on the floor and try and guess where it came from. You'd joke about how it kind of looked like Aizawa when he used his powers.
There hasn't been a lot of joking going on lately. Both you and Ochako are so stressed about the exams you've hardly said two words to each other, if you're honest you kind of miss her. Ochako is the first real friend you've ever had, spending most of your childhood and teenage years alone in your bedroom reading and playing with your gerbils, Dasher and Dancer. Now you feel like that same lonely kid again.
A knock on the door drags you out of your thoughts and you get up to answer it before you can get too sad. You leave your books (minus your maths book) on the kitchen table and pad barefoot towards the door to your apartment. You and Ochako decided to move off campus for your second year so you could feel more independent. Also, because it was cheaper.
You swing open the door expecting to see Izuku, Ochako's kind-of-but-not-really boyfriend. Instead, the doorway is taken up by a muscular, and kind of angry looking blonde. In jeans and a black tank top that showed off his huge biceps, his spikey hair falling in his face, his vermillion eyes trained on you. He may be the most attractive man you have ever seen.
You know who he is obviously, Katsuki Bakugou. You've seen him hanging around Kirishima and the other 'frat bros'. He's supposed to be one of the smartest in your college, always coming in the top 5. From what Ochako's said, he's slept with every girl on campus too.
"You gonna keep starin' at me, sweetheart, or are ya gonna invite me in?"
His slightly irritated voice snaps you out of your thoughts and you realise you've been staring at him this entire time. Your cheeks flush red and you babble apologies as you step to the side to allow him to come in. You figure he's probably here for Ochako and hope he's not a serial killer.
"Need to speak to Ochako, go get her." He demands as if you're a waitress who got his order wrong. You're taken aback by his tone but decide to ignore it.
"She's not here." You say, folding your arms over your chest, hyperaware of the stain on your hoodie. You think it's pizza sauce but can't be sure. You can't study without this hoodie and lately all you've been doing is studying so it's been a while since it's seen a washing machine.
"What do you mean 'she's not here'. She's supposed to help me with something now go get her." He snaps at you. You blink at the aggression and straighten your back.
"I told you; I can't go get her. She isn't here." You seethe trying to stay calm. Bakugou steps forwards and you resist the urge to shy away. He stops when you're practically nose to nose and you can see him clench his jaw in frustration.
"Well, where the fuck is she then?" He barks, so close you can smell his toothpaste and aftershave. Mint and burnt sugar. You tilt your chin up and glare back at him. There is no way in hell you are going to let a man talk to you like that in your own damn house.
"I don't know where she is, but you can go and wait for her somewhere else." You grab his vest and begin to drag him towards the door. His eyes widen in surprise and you've no doubt that's the only reason he lets you drag him.
"The fuck do you think you're doing?" He looks utterly bewildered, like he's never heard the word no once in his life. It would be comical if you weren't so pissed off.
"I'm kicking you out. This is my house and I'll be dammed if I let a man walk all over me in it." With that you give him one last push out the front door and slam it in his face, slipping the chain on the hook for good measure.

When Ochako gets back and you explain everything she laughs for a good twenty minutes straight. You were afraid she might be mad at you but she seems delighted.
"You're definitely not mad?" You check when she calms down. She lets out another soft giggle and shakes her head.
"Hey, I'm just glad someone finally put him in his place." And then she's in hysterics again and you can't fight the grin that spreads across your face.

You don't see Bakugou again until Ochako drags you to a party under the guise of 'letting off steam' when you know all she really wants is to see Izuku. You pull on a tight black dress that shows off a lot more cleavage than your used to and follow her to the party anyway.
It's at the same dumb frat house Bakugou lives at but you honestly couldn't care less. And yes, maybe part of that is the vodka shots you, Ochako and Izuku did before you left but part of it is also because you refuse to be afraid of a man like Bakugou.
You walk through the doors and the music is so loud you can feel it in your chest. Weirdly, you kind of like it. Ochako and Izuku immediately disappear to God knows where but you try not to mind. You think they're cute together and you want Ochako to be happy, even if that means leaving you on your own.
You make your way to the kitchen and pour yourself a vodka coke, classic and it'll get the job done is what you think. You lean against the counter and survey the scene before you. This isn't the first party you've been to but it's definitely the biggest. From here you can see at least two people having sex, three doing drugs, at least seven people passed out and someone doing the macarena to a Nicki Minaj song. The whole scene makes you want to laugh.
You haven't seen Bakugou yet, not that you've been looking for him. It's just that if you'd seen him, you definitely would've recognised him. But you definitely weren't looking. You take a sip of your drink.

A while later, when you're drunk enough to forget any anxiety, someone changes the track in the middle of some indie slow song with misogynistic overtones and Sabrina Carpenter’s Nonsense comes on and you let out a little squeal. This song has been your obsession as of late.
You abandon your cup and run into the living room and start dancing. You've never been a particularly good dancer, far too clumsy for that but the alcohol makes you forget that and your start to have fun for the first time all night. Maybe all year.
You're still dancing wildly three songs later when you smack into the wooden coffee table and start to fall over. You feel a strong pair of hands grab you by the waist and right you on your feet. You spin round a little too quickly with the intention of thanking the person but you wobble a little and they have to right you again.
You giggle and look up, your eyes meeting a familiar pair of vermillion eyes. You gasp a little and then curse yourself for being stupid. It's his house, of course he was going to be here. Before you can say anything, Bakugou smirks at you, his large hands still on your waist, squeezing slightly.
"You should be more careful, doll." He chides and then walks away. You watch him disappear somewhere in the crowd and leave you wondering what the fuck just happened.

You go home that night, tipsy and still thinking about Bakugou and his big, strong hands. You own hands make their way down your body and below the waistband of your pyjamas. Your mind cloudy with thoughts of Bakugou's much thicker fingers, the cocky smirk on his face that makes you think he'd know exactly how to handle you.
You rub slow circles on your clit and close your eyes, imagining it was him touching you instead. You think about the way it felt when he touched you, the burnt sugar smell of him, the way his eyes lingered on the low neck of your dress. You wonder how many girls he’s actually been with. Whether he actually knows what he’s doing. You wonder how big he is. His frame is huge, broad shoulders, rippling muscles, more than double your size so he must be big.
You think about his mouth, how good it would feel to have him between your legs, strong hands gripping your thighs while he laps at your clit.
You’re arching off the bed, fingers swirling faster and faster on your sticky, wet heat. Other hand under your shirt to play with your nipples, tugging and pinching them just the way you like. You try hard to stay quiet but the thought of what Bakugou could do to you, what you want him to do to you, has you crying out so loud you’re certain everyone in the building heard. You don’t have it in you to care though as you’re hurtling towards your release.
The thought that makes you come undone is picturing how pretty he’d look when he cums. Brows furrowed, lips bitten and falling into a pretty O shape, moaning your name as he cums deep inside you.
------------------------------------
Hi, I hope you enjoyed! I will definitly be making more parts to this as I see this as a whole enemies to lovers fic. Likes and rb's appreciated, let me know what you think!

A Long Day
JJ Maybank x Reader
Fluff, comfort
A Long Day
The numbers on the page blurred together with all the thoughts and the blood boiling beneath your skin. Having cried two times already from exhaustion and frustration, you latched your hands to your scalp feeling the heat, your body temperature, rise once more. Your chest contracted with sobs that were being held in, your stubbornness not letting a sound leave your mouth. If you couldn’t understand simple algebra then how were you supposed to do trigonometry and calculus classes?
Thankfully, the door to your room opened, drawing your attention there instead of on the packet of trig and scattered pages on the bed. Shock would’ve and probably should have been your first reaction but from all the negative emotions and thoughts swarming around you, you were thankful for whoever was about to step through that door. Serial killer, boyfriend, or not.
Fortunately, JJ walked in with a huff, throwing his sweat covered, dirty shirt into the chair that sat in the corner. With one look, you could tell he was exhausted. He stood there looking at the mess in front of you before slowly looking at you with a confused expression that soon turned to concern when he watched the first tear drop.
He silently walked over, not a word between either of you, before gently clasping your hand in his. Deciding to just follow and not argue, you stood and followed him to the bathroom, concentrating more on making the tears stop then watching where you were going. Before you knew it, the room turned from the dull blue of your room to the light tan bathroom with a curtain that had a cow skull on it.
You looked in the mirror looking at your tear soaked, puffy eyed face before having to fight against the tremble under your lip. You looked horrid and you hated it. Lack of sleep, stress, and not enough food had done wonders for you and a dull ache in your chest slowly began to grow into more of a sharp pain, squeezing the air from your lungs.
Needing a distraction, you turned the nozzle to the bath, letting your fingers rest under the water and adjusting it so it’s lukewarm. When warm fingers ran over your shoulders and down your back, under the silky cloth of your tank top, you sighed softly feeling your worries slowly drain.
You let him undress you, before you sank down in the bath and opened your arms so he could join you. Once he finally settled, you wrapped your legs around his waist and began to gently run your hands over his shoulder, back, and neck, rubbing out any tense spots. He was sore, the way he walked and tensed anytime your hands ran over a certain part said so.
After several minutes of silence and both of y’all’s hair and body being washed and scrubbed, he finally craned his neck backwards to find your eyes. You let your fingers run through his hair before softly brushing your lips against his shoulder.
“I may be getting fired.” JJ muttered, looking forward to where his hands ran over your thighs, giving you goosebumps and immediate mind numbing comfort.
“What happened?” You hummed, holding him closer. It was no lie that JJ didn’t like his job but it kept the both of you afloat.
“I didn’t know how to do something… Instead of asking, I tried to do it and failed, resulting in the company having to pay for it.” He all but whispered and you were sure that if he were facing you, not only would his face be red but he wouldn’t be able to keep eye contact from how embarrassed he was.
You let out a small amused huff before laying your head on his shoulder.
“I’m not sure if I can fix it.” He finally stated, his hands gently squeezing your thighs like a stress ball.
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” The words were encouraging and dipped in honey and love. At least you hoped they were. When he didn’t answer for a bit, you began to grow weary. Questions of him being mad at you or you having responded the wrong way were tossed repeatedly around your head but all worries were soon snuffed out when he brought your hand, that laid against his chest, up to his mouth and placed a kiss to every one of your knuckles.
“You gonna tell me what the mess was?” He asked, shifting so he lay on the opposite side of the bathtub before opening his arms to you. An instant smile lit your face, happy to be able to relax against him.
“Algebra… It’s just a review for the class but the professor insists on us relearning these ways. I didnt learn them to begin with though. You know how our school was.” You answered, trying to keep it short so you can just forget about it. It seemed he knew better though.
“And what part had my pretty girl crying? fixing to tear her hair out? Hmmm?” He asked, tracing circles around your belly button. You clucked, acting as though you were thinking of an answer before he gave a soft pinch to your stomach, a subtle but affectionate warning. So with a sigh, you explained, playing with your hands that were in your lap.
“I just don’t understand any of it. I’ve been trying for hours with nothing. I’ve looked at videos, I’ve asked questions, I even got a private tutor to help but it seems as though it just wasn't meant for me.” The cracks in your voice was just the start, as another tear slid down your cheek.
“And if I fail this exam tomorrow then I won’t be able to continue on with the course which means I won’t get to get the job I’ve talked about since I was a teen.” Your voice was quiet and shaky, all the pain, stress, frustration, and fear plaguing you. It was difficult to take a breath and you felt the walls around you begin to swirl so you turned and leaned against JJ with your eyes tightly shut. You didn’t want to go into an attack right now. Now was really not a good time. Or maybe it was and you were just afraid of seeming weak.
When JJ cupped your face and brought his lips to your own, you hesitated to kiss back, your lungs already screaming for air. To your own surprise though, the kiss allowed you to take a deep gasp of fresh air when you both pulled back.
J held you close, using one hand to wipe your tears away and the other to write ‘I love you’ on your warm soaked skin.
“Study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in.” He answered, his eyes glancing back down to your lips.
“That isn’t the issue because I do want to do good so I can-” You started, a shaky breath leaving your lips that he was eyeing like a starving man.
“No.” He started firmly but coolly.
“You desire the job, not the class.” With that, you stopped, staring at him with wide eyes before looking down with furrowed brows. It was no lie you disliked algebra… but could you dislike it so much that you just weren’t giving it a chance?
“There's my beautiful smart *ss.” J exclaimed with a wide smile and relieved eyes. He hated when you cried and he was determined. He was determined to catch every tear and be there for every breakdown so that you never had to suffer alone. He was determined to make you smile… to show just how much you meant to him. And he’s accomplished just that with the small victory of hearing your beautiful laughter and the playful shove to his chest.
“You’re a dork.” You smiled, gleaming with new found determination and something else he couldn’t quite place. Love? Appreciation? Relief? Maybe even a little of all of them.
Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better. - Maya Angelou.
Study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in. - Leonardo da Vinci.

The infamous, so-called Spider-Society wasn’t nearly as…prestigious as you’d initially anticipated, after all the buildup that the alternate Miguel had laid down convincing you to join. Meeting so many other Spider-People was certainly as elating as it was stressful (honestly, you never thought that you would see as many of the same person at one time, multiverse theory be damned, much less the stark differences between the lot of them—it was a good thing that you weren’t allergic to rocks, because there sure was a lot of Peter). The majority of them seemed to come and go as they pleased, only turning up to HQ to report in occasionally or to share information about any new anomalies that may have cropped up in their dimension.
Oh, yeah, and the whole anomaly thing…combined with the canon events theory…there was a reason you’d focused on robotics and nanotech rather than physics during university. Being told that because of your involvement in the arachno-humanoid poly-multiverse (and Christ, Miguel needed to get a new name for that, it was just too damn big of a mouthful) you were basically guaranteed to undergo negative experiences that would drive most people into depression or madness didn’t…sit well. Although it was a slight comfort to know that virtually every other Spider-Person had gone through something similar to you in regards to grief, it still didn’t sit quite right with you—but perhaps that was the hero complex in you speaking. If I had just tried harder, been faster, put my life further out on the line…
Nevertheless, it did help you to relax slightly. Peter B. was infectious with his easy affection and lighthearted demeanor, cracking jokes and knowing just what to say to help you circumnavigate your awkward interactions with the others. His wife was about five months along, expecting their first child—a little girl they’d already decided to name Mayday after his deceased aunt. He introduced you to Jessica Drew, who herself was due to have a baby in seven months—she was cool and calm but had a lot of heart and humor, and you appreciated her honestly as much as her sincerity.
Some of the others were…quite a handful. You weren’t quite sure what to think of Hobie Brown, besides the fact that he was hilarious. You had the distinct impression that he was always watching you, though, dark eyes as scrutinous as your trigonometry teacher back in high school. You didn’t really want to think that he was waiting for you to mess up or something, but…he always seemed to know something more than you at all times and it made you just a tad uncomfortable. The quiet, observant sort like him often were the greatest troublemakers—his standing track record in his universe, which he claimed with no small amount of pride, notwithstanding. You liked him, you really did—he’d been nothing but kind to you during your brief introduction—but you couldn’t help but feel like he had something up his sleeve.
The rest were just as, if not more, colorful characters. The mind-boggling quantity of alternate Spider-People overwhelmed you after Peter B.’s tour, so after he herded you back to the cafeteria and helped you to unload your cart, he showed you the basics on opening the portals.
“Try not to use them in crowded areas—you don’t want a bunch of junk getting in the way. Or, you know, splicing into your body like a redshirt being beamed up. Type in the universe number here, enter the coordinates—looks like Miguel already saved your previous location as the default, so you can teleport directly from there to HQ whenever you need to—then tap this, and…voila! There’s a communications tab here, so you can contact LYLA or call any one of us if you ever need backup, or to report an anomaly.”
You nodded along, squinting in hopes that you could commit the motions to memory rather than have to ask multiple times how the damn thing worked—you were a roboticist, yes, and you could probably whip up a circuit out of cardboard, gum, and a lemon—but even this level of technology was beyond your paygrade. Miguel’s work was truly phenomenal, you had to give him that. (And…well. You didn’t want to wind up like a redshirt, either.)
You imparted him with another half-dozen cupcakes to take home to the missus as thanks for taking his time with you, dragged your cart through the portal back into the kitchen of your bakery, and as the maelstrom of mindfuck physics disintegrated into thin air within the blink of an eye as though it had never been there to start with…you sank against the countertop and buried your face in your hands.
This Miguel was different from your late husband, in countless ways that you’d been doing your best not to take notice of too closely. (Would it be considered rude to compare them? They were inherently the same person, just…under different circumstances.) But, at the same time, they behaved so similarly: that same low, even, soft-spoken cadence; those half-lidded eyes feigning disinterest but to hide the exact opposite after years of having any enthusiasm beat out of him as a child; the tension he always carried in his shoulders to hold them back, his chin angled up, his hands always ready at his sides, always ready to move at a moment’s notice (and those shoulders…you hadn’t been joking, asking Peter B. about the man’s dieting habits—he easily dwarfed your husband twice over, and you couldn’t help but wonder if it was intentional or whether it was due to whatever sort of spider abilities he’d inherited).
Even still, that was only the start of the differences. This Miguel was snippier, shorter-tempered, and mumbled as though he had a mouthful of something packed under his bottom lip all the time. He had a clipped walk like a panther, a long, stalking stride that made far too little noise for a man of his bulk. He kept his hair slicked back rather than allowing his curls freedom. His mildly unsettling carmine eyes were tired, and you were half-convinced that if he were to sit too long he’d likely pass out based on the way he hyper-focused on everything around him as though to compensate. His exhaustion was obvious, but maybe that only had to do with your familiarity of the canvas rather than the difference in hues and brushstrokes.
They said your name the same way, however. You weren’t sure how to feel about that.
By the time you pulled yourself together (because you had wept enough the night before and didn’t want a repeat incident—you’d probably tripled your water bill hunkering down in the shower to muffle your misery and you were not going to cry again, thank you very much) and made it back upstairs, the night had set in and plunged your apartment in total darkness. It was a bit odd, as in Earth 928B it had been about noon when you left, but you supposed that temporal unalignment was the least of your concerns.
Your cat, a silver tabby your husband had named Alba upon finding her abandoned as a kitten in the park, greeted you at the door letting you know exactly how late you were for serving her evening meal. You long-sufferingly doled out the kibble in the kitchen and watched her inhale it in less than a minute before coiling around your legs in a figure-eight once and retreating to her bed set in the windowsill overlooking the street below.
You shook your head with a sigh, trudging around to feed your other pet Horchata before retreating into your bedroom, stripping off your clothes as you went. You tossed them all into the overflowing hamper, stored the compact belt containing the technology housing your suit in your nightstand drawer, and slipped into the bathroom to wash away the flour and confectioner’s sugar. You carefully removed the not-watch (as Peter B. had been so kind to inform you that Miguel hated them to refer to it as a watch) and set it on the counter alongside the ring you wore on a delicate chain around your neck.
You wondered what this new Miguel saw in you, to want you on his top-secret strike team so badly. You weren’t exactly perky yourself. You’d laid out all your flaws for him, and yet he hadn’t even flinched. He’d only seemed agitated at your immediate refusal, if nothing else.
The next day passed in relative normalcy—you woke early to start work on your stock, had coffee with your aunt (who spent more time daydreaming about her doctor than actually sharing the report of her yearly physical, although everything seemed normal, fortunately), and opened up shop all before the sun rose. You dealt with all the catering and pickup orders as they came in and kept tabs on everything baking in the back while Maya dealt with the storefront. You dipped out at noon to get lunch for the both of you, listened to the police reports on the way, and breathed a sigh of relief that Nueva York managed to retain its peace for another day.
The afternoon crept by far more slowly, and by the time closing rolled around you got to share the news with your business partner.
“I’ve made a deal with a company to sell out our stock at the end of every day,” you told her while you swept and she dusted the countertops. It was ten ‘til but it helped to clean up before since she always went straight home once the sign was turned off. “It’s, uh…an all-day type-thing, and they needed extra stock in their cafeteria. I think it’ll help with keeping up.”
“Oh, that’s wonderful!” Maya exclaimed, smiling broadly with glittering eyes. “I always did hate seeing it go to waste since the donation centers never took all of it. Do you need any help packing it all up?”
“No, I’ve got it. It’ll only take a few minutes, and I can be the only one to deliver it. Kind of a hush-hush type thing.”
She quirked a brow, glancing over your shoulder as the bell over the door jangled. “So long as it’s not for the mafia.”
You rolled your eyes. “I’m not working for the mafia. I’m not pretty enough to work for the mafia.”
“You don’t have to be pretty to work for the mafia.”
You turned to find Jess standing there with a lazy smile, dressed in sleek civvies. You swallowed. “Hey. I thought I was dropping all this off?”
“I’m in a bit of a time crunch,” she said with a smile, but you didn’t miss the subtle urgency in her eyes. “I’ll help you pack it up and get it there.” She nodded to your aunt. “How’re you doing today?”
“I’m just fine,” Maya beamed, coming around the counter. “Thank you for your business. What’s your name?”
“Jessica Drew,” the other Spider-Woman introduced smoothly, extending a hand. Maya shook it. “Your niece told me good things about you.”
“Oh, as she should!” Maya laughed, eyes twinkling. “I’ve been taking care of her since she was knee-high to a grasshopper!”
“And I think it’s about time for you to head home to take your meds,” you interjected, face warming as you set the broom to the side and moved towards the back to get her things for her. “Want me to call you an Uber?”
Maya scoffed quietly, casting Jess a look that screamed, ‘can you believe the nerve?’ “I’ll walk. I didn’t get all my steps in this morning.”
“Be careful, then.” You dipped into the kitchen, grabbed her purse, and reemerged to find them chatting about children—your aunt had a sixth-sense when it came to babies, and evidently she’d picked up on Jess’ glow. “I’ll see you tomorrow for supper.”
“Don’t forget to bring the pickled beets,” she reminded you, slipping into her jacket despite the sun still shining bright upon the pavement outside.
“Believe me, I won’t. They’ll never get eaten if I don’t deliver them.”
“They’re good for you.”
“I’m sure they are. But my tongue says otherwise.”
You waved her out, locked the door behind her, and flicked off the neon sign. You turned back to Jess, brow furrowing. “What’s wrong?”
“Under normal circumstances, we’d introduce you to anomaly-catching a little more gradually,” she responded, face schooling into business-mode, “but Peter B.’s out and Miguel thought he could handle it on his own. Again. I need backup.”
You nodded, already moving to shed your apron and the unnecessary outer layers that would interfere with the UMF. You slipped back into the kitchen to toss them into the hamper and, this time, she followed. “Do I need to be concerned about his evident tendency to jump in head-first without looking?”
“He’s been like this for as long as I’ve known him.” Jess began to type into her (not) watch. “He’s one of the most headstrong people I’ve ever met.”
“You’ll meet few others that are more stubborn,” you muttered without really thinking. You tried to hide your wince by tapping your belt to activate your suit. “Where to?”
The portal blossomed open, and Jess gestured towards it. “After you.”
You swallowed, eyed it for just a moment, then moved through the vortex.
It spat you out on top of a brick office building in a version of New York only slightly less futuristic than your own. The sheer noise of screaming in the streets below, both from humans and vehicle brakes alike, precluded the rumble of an explosion that rocked the infrastructure beneath your feet. You whipped around to the cloud of smoke that arched up into the dusky sky, the lenses in your mask automatically adjusting to locate the heat signatures of two individuals caught in a grapple amongst the flames.
“I’ve got a visual,” you told Jess as she emerged next to you. “Over there.”
“Let’s go. Looks like it’s already gotten out of control.”
The pair of you leapt off the rooftop, swinging out into open air. You watched a rapidly moving shape bulleted from the plume off to the left, and you could hear maniacal laughter even with the wind battering your ears.
“Oh, great,” you muttered, “we love the crazy-ass grenade enthusiast.” You jerked your head towards the crumbling building—the other heat signature had yet to move. “Go check on Miguel, I’ll track our escapee.”
Jess looked like she wanted to argue, but she only released a sigh. When it came to split-second decisions like this, there was never enough time to deliberate. “Be careful. Don’t get in over your head.”
“You got it.” You diverted to swing wide around a warehouse, setting a waypoint on the villain-of-the-week rocketing through the buildings. He was a fast bastard, but fortunately he had yet to start dropping bombs on the bewildered population below—that’s when things with the Goblins always got tricky.
Soon enough, you managed to pick up speed to catch up, and with a well-timed turn and tight swing you lunged for the glorified hoverboard. You connected, latched on to the edge, and the added weight caused the entire platform to dip and sway dangerously.
“Another little spider!” crooned the Goblin, banking sharply to the right in an attempt to knock you off with a light pole. The reverberating collision with your hip hurt like a bitch. “How lucky am I to have as many new friends with which to play?”
“Save it, Osborn!” you growled, using the momentum of his next whirl to get a knee up over the edge. You grabbed his ankle and dislodged his foot from the hook, cooling a loop of webbing around it and securing it out of place to hinder his balance. “If you’ll just make this easier on every one of us, that would be appreci—”
You should have expected him to slam his heel into your elbow, but in hindsight you’d thought him not nimble enough to outspeed you.
“But that would take all the fun out of the game,” he crowed, stooping down and planting a fist into your temple. Your vision swam and your grip loosened. “And teaming up two against one is hardly fair to start with!”
You gritted your teeth and grabbed the nape of his neck, wrenching him down towards you and flipping the board in the process. You managed to yank his other foot out of the stirrup and then the both of you were freefalling. You snatched the board with a web before he could reach it, slinging it at the nearest building and embedding it into the side.
Unfortunately, he decided to latch onto you, instead. With the talons built into his gloves, no less. Sharp pain pricked your thigh and side, respectively, and when you landed on a terrace all the wind was knocked from your lungs. The Goblin dug in deep, hefting you up and over his shoulder to throw you bodily over into the street below.
The next impact was softer than you expected. You blinked the tears from your eyes only to find that Miguel was the reason for it, the lenses of his mask narrowed dangerously at you.
“You shouldn’t have gone after him alone,” he growled, reaching out with his free hand to pierce the mortar with his claws and suspend you against the wall. You struggled to catch your breath, especially with his tight, unyielding grip around your waist. “That was stupid. This one could easily do a lot of damage, and—”
The squawk of the Goblin over your heads caused both of your gazes to snap upwards, watching through the bars as Jess kicked him down. Within seconds she had him webbed in place, face pressed against the iron, glaring down at you. His wrists were bound together over his head, and you caught the subtle movement of his fingertips against the device coiled around his wrist. The grind of stone, the hum of fission, and the flash of light all activated your senses.
“Mig—!” you started, head whipping to the other side. You grappled at his rigid form to wedge yourself into his side, blocking him from the glider that launched itself at him at full speed. You absorbed the blow, but the force of it knocked both of you from the wall and tumbled down to the street. Your vision blacked out briefly when you landed roughly on your side.
“Por los clavos de Cristo!” Miguel snarled, breathing harshly even as he scrambled up from the concrete. “Idiota!*”
“Imagine cussing someone out for keeping your ribs from getting caved in,” you wheezed, hearing the glider sputter. You twisted to squint up at Jess decommissioning the damned thing. “De nada, cabrón.**”
Miguel’s silhouette shaded your eyes as he kneeled next to you, lenses narrowed to slits, but the quiver in his hands as he reached out to you caught you by surprise. He carefully prodded your bruised side, retracting his touch instantly when you hissed.
“I’m fine,” you said, slowly sitting up with a low groan. “Just a scratch.”
“Hey!” Jess called, hauling the goblin over her shoulder. “Do you have the field?”
He didn’t move an itch, save to hover his hands over you as you clambered back to your feet. There was scarcely half a foot of space between you, his hunkered, hulking form blocking your view of much else beyond the glowing nanites highlighting his contours.
“Miguel!” Jess tried again, jumping nimbly down near you. “You all right?”
That finally seemed to break him out of whatever trance he’d been caught in, and you watched the tension return in full force to his body as he straightened to his full height once more. “Here.” He snatched the device from his hip and tossed it on the ground. She unceremoniously dumped the Goblin into the field, then moved over to pick up the glider. He didn’t look away from you, finally croaking, “That was reckless.”
“You don’t seem to have the Spidey-Sense,” you pointed out wryly, rubbing your ribs gingerly. “And it could’ve been worse.”
He brandished a pointed finger in your face, the hook of his claw gleaming with the UMF stretched over its surface. “Don’t,” he growled, “do it again. I mean it.”
You quirked a brow at him, despite knowing he wouldn’t be able to see it. You folded your arms over your chest so he’d get the message. “Don’t jump in by yourself again,” you returned evenly. “You’re not invincible either, Miguel.”
And he did look worse for wear. Now that your vision had cleared, you could see that he was favoring his left leg, the UMF along his shoulders was glittering as the nanobots attempted to stitch themselves back together, and the lens over his right eye was cracked.
“This isn’t about me,” he started curtly.
“It is, because you came here without backup.” You smacked his hand away and returned his previous gesture, fingertip centimeters away from his nose under the mask. “Don’t tell me you’re stupid enough to think that you could handle all this by yourself.”
His extended silence, grating and aggravated, was answer enough.
You rubbed your forehead and let out a heavy sigh. “Let’s just…finish this up, shall we? You need to get checked out.”
He tilted his head, and you had the distinct impression that he was scowling at you. “Since when did you become team leader?”
“Since when did you become so damned irresponsible?” you shot back.
Jess’ face slackened into shock, her eyes cutting away as she pursed her lips. She looked on the verge between laughter and wanting to leave immediately. “Opening a portal back to base,” she offered mildly, turning her back on the both of you for some illusion of privacy.
“Look,” you hissed, gesturing towards Jess and the Goblin, who was chuckling quietly to himself despite being caught in a rather humiliating predicament of being tied ass-over-head. “I understand that you’re the head honcho and that you seem to have your bluff in on everybody else in the Society. Most of them are terrified of you, from what I gathered yesterday. And I don’t know to what extent that you’re familiar with me, like you said, but I know you, too, Miguel. I know that you’d sooner eat drywall than admit you’re wrong, and that your head is harder than vibranium. I know that you always take on too damn much on your shoulders because you feel like no one else could or should have to handle it. But I swear to God, I am not going to let you run yourself into the ground. You’re just like…” You stopped abruptly, swallowed, then dropped your head to shake it in frustration. “...look. The whole reason you have these dozens of Spider-People recruited in the first place is to help you manage all this, not to pick you back up when you inevitably fall apart trying to carry it all by yourself. You’re not fucking Atlas. And if you’re going to be like this all the time, I’m not going to have any part of it. Comprendes?***”
He glowered at you for a long moment before his low, gritted tone reached you. “Comprendo.****”
“Great.” You thumped him in the sternum for good measure. “Now I’m sure there’s a long, drawn-out, laborious process of paperwork following this, so the sooner I can get it done and deliver the heaping pile of croissants I had leftover today, the better.”
You turned as the portal blossomed open once more, waving Jess off and slinging the Goblin over your shoulder, and marched right on through back to HQ, feeling Miguel’s eyes burning into your back the entire way.

Note
Frosty i’m doing a summer course in math to get ahead of it, and I just got to trigonometry. What’s your feeling about it/ do you know what that is? also please pray for meee
Trigonometry itself was never my main interest, I much preferred thinking traps or paradoxes, things that are harder to wrap my head around. I do wish you luck with your schooling though, I know it can be quite stressful.
