I genuinely don't understand how people can be exhausted from seeing so many fundraisers on the timeline. Sure, you can take a break, but that doesn't mean you can dismiss the entire movement and ignore the pain and suffering Palestinians are going through over the past year. It is insulting. They have every right to be drained with little to no energy. Palestinians have every right to express anger, bitterness, frustration, and all of the negative emotions because the West has turned their backs against them.

So you need support the Palestinians as much as you can. It is winter right now. Heavy rainfall and the rising sea levels have flooded tents. They have been destroyed. Many families are left on the streets and they are freezing. A blockade has been imposed. Aid is extremely limited, and when it does enter the region, it is exorbitant to the point many cannot afford it. They are starving. A famine is taking place!

Despite all of the pain and suffering, we have seen Palestinians rise up and mobilize. They establish kitchens grassroots organizations, such as The Sameer Project and HEAL Palestine, and they are spreading across to ensure Gazans are clothed, fed, and sheltered.

Shahed Abumousa, @shahdhatem, is a person who has dedicated herself to helping her fellow Palestinians. She, along with her father, constructed an emergency room where they look after the injured and wounded. Since she is a dentist student, she has applied her skills and knowledge to perform emergency services. She also distribute food and teach the Qu'ran to children!

So please donate and share! Shahed has been fundraising since March, but donations has been slow! It has taken her a long time to reach the 29K mark! So how about we pick up the pace and help her reach the 30.5K? $29,560 USD has been raised. There is $950 left to go! You can match me! “Hello, this is Yaser, and I’m speaking alongside my sister, Farah. Life here in Gaza has been devastating, and it’s getting harder by the day. Our school, home, and even our football club have been destroyed, leaving us to focus on survival instead of our future.

I was in my last year of high school, preparing for university, but now my studies are on hold indefinitely. I’m helping my father provide for the family, but it’s a struggle every day.

Farah, our creative spirit, used to fill our home with her art. But now, with our house in ruins, it’s not just the physical loss—her creativity and hope have been shattered too.

Our older sister, Ameera, is trying to keep us together. Her young daughters, Kenzie and Hala, have been scarred by this war. Kenzie no longer laughs the way she used to, and Hala, still so little, has faced illness after illness.

Reminder that the leader of UAW has called for legitimate general strike May 2028

A general strike is a mass strike that workers from all industries can participate in.

You do this so that the collective demands of workers are taken seriously. It reminds CEOs and other billionaires that they are nothing without workers and as such, should treat them fairly (at the very least).

A general strike in the USA has the potential to cost billions of dollars even if it was only for one day. It has the potential to cripple the US economy even and hit billionaires where it really hurts: their likelihood to maintain investors, shareholders, and stock prices.

“We have to pay for our sins of the past. Back in 1980 when Reagan at the time fired patco workers, everybody in this country should have stood up and walked the hell out,” Fain said. “We missed the opportunity then, but we’re not going to miss it in 2028. That’s the plan. We want a general strike. We want everybody walking out just like they do in other countries.”

He reaffirmed ambitious plans to organize a general strike for 1 May 2028, coinciding with International Solidarity Day or May Day.

Join a union. Start a union. There is no shortlist of resources for how to do either one in the age of the internet.

Some of you may have heard about Monarch butterflies being added to the Threatened species list in the US and be planning to immediately rush out in spring and buy all the milkweed you can manage to do your part and help the species.

And that's fantastic!! Starting a pollinator garden and/or encouraging people and businesses around you to do the same is an excellent way to help not just Monarchs but many other threatened and at-risk pollinator species!

However.

Please please PLEASE do not obtain Tropical Milkweed for this purpose!

Tropical milkweed (Asclepias curassavica)--also commonly known as bloodflower, Mexican butterflyweed, and scarlet milkweed--will likely be the first species of milkweed you find for sale at most nurseries. It'll be fairly cheap, too, and it grows and propagates so easily you'll just want to grab it! But do not do that!

Tropical milkweed can cause a host of issues that can ultimately harm the butterflies you're trying to help, such as--

Harboring a protozoan parasite called OE (which has been linked to lower migration success, reductions in body mass, lifespan, mating success, and flight ability) for long periods of time

Remaining alive for longer periods, encouraging breeding during migration time/overwintering time as well as keeping monarchs in an area until a hard freeze wherein which they die

Actually becoming toxic to monarch caterpillars when exposed to warmer temperatures associated with climate change

However--do not be discouraged!! There are over 100 species of milkweed native to the United States, and plenty of resources on which are native to your state specifically! From there, you can find the nurseries dedicated to selling native milkweeds, or buy/trade for/collect seeds to grow them yourself!!

The world of native milkweeds is vast and enchanting, and I'm sure you'll soon find a favorite species native to your area that suits your growing space! There's tons of amazing options--whether you choose the beautiful pink vanilla-smelling swamp milkweed, the sophisticated redring milkweed, the elusive purple milkweed, the alluring green antelopehorn milkweed, or the charming heartleaf milkweed, or even something I didn't list!

And there's tons of resources and lots of people willing to help you on your native milkweed journey! Like me! Feel free to shoot me an ask if you have any questions!

Just. PLEASE. Leave the tropical milkweed alone. Stay away.

TLDR: Start a pollinator garden to help the monarchs! Just don't plant tropical milkweed. There's hundreds of other milkweeds to grow instead!
