I really like the anime episode where lol she looses the gift she’s suppose to give this person in the hospital and she has to get it back — and lol, she doesn’t want to be like “boruto and the others” and go on top of the train to get it back…. lol. she’s kind of a stickler for “rules” in a way. also ahaha that smol interaction with shizune she has is so funny n everytih to me… shes so awkward<3 like also LOVED the whole chouchou&sarada too….gah… i love them so much… and JHBSDHJBS the part where shikadai sees her on the top of the train but isnt sure and LMAO they all (boruto inojin n shikadai) have evil ;) face at the idea of catching sarada riding top of the train so they could never let forget for the rest of the time of academy was SO funny to me.

i love their dynamic. also remiding of this idea i had for a comic which i dearly love. sarada using her sharigan to help them with a game lmao and she overuses it so much jsbdhbsJBHDFBD theyre so stupid<3

also man this ep had so much good moments… like this one whihc i love so much n never fails to make me laugh…. thEIR FACES. man i need to redraw it.

I’m loving her so much in the boruto timeskip manga too, like gosh — the way it starts and how she’s so determined to like get into shikamaru’s head that boruto isn’t the enemy and he wouldn’t cuz she’s one of the two that only remembers gosh. lol and how she gets fed up at one point and goes “you blockhead” and later is like… argh… I should haven’t said that to him/got annoyed… I know that it’s not his fault. like I THINK CONSTANTLY OF HER DURIJG THAT TIMESKIP!!!! How it must have felt cuz GOSH!!!! She’s like one of the two that ONLY remembers Boruto is the hokage’s son and now everyone sees him as enemy. Must be so painful. Damn. AND the fact that her father is once again traitor of the village cuz she asks him to look after Boruto and though she knows she made the right choice, must be hard<3 !!!!! I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

also I LOVE that she has sakura’s verbal… idk what you call it? Habit? “Cha!!!!/shannaroo!!!!” It’s soooo<3 like THATS HER DAUGHTER!!!!!!!!

Also the Gaiden manga, as much as the plot is so stupid, makes me so emotional!!!! The way she feels betrayed by her mom n dad, and misunderstands and the way she doesn’t care anymore if her mom is her real mom gosh. THE FACT THAT WHEN SHE FIRST THINKS SHES GOING TOO SASUKE SHE WANTS A HUG OH MY GOD!!!!!

Also one of my most iconic moments… her first fight in the chunnin exams. Lmao pls. She really was like “three seconds… watch me” HDKKDKD and did it. Pls. What even made her go “okay for my first match I’m GONNA finish it in 3 seconds” JDKFBJDKFKFKD. OBESSED with her. like??? did she know her opponent and was like yeah i can crush it. why did she announce it like that… what if she didnt win in 3 seconds…. i Love Her. also LOVE LOVE the lil moment she has with shikadai before she goes for her match.. the high five they share. its just a notmal moment but just. I also do like Sarada’s relationship with Mitsuki, the other team member of her squad. But I don’t care for them that much as much I wish cuz they’re so boring to me… SADLY. but I do like thinking about them occasionally. They can be so much fun!!!!!!!

And of course…. Sarada’s relationship with her parents is like. EVERYTHING to me. Especially Sasuke and Sarada’s. Who are my fav characters ever in across naruto ahahah. And also gosh not to mention naruto&sarada who I don’t think of that much but make me EMOTIONAL AND FULL OF FEELS WHEN I DO!!!!!!!!!!

also Sarada& Sakura are sooooo important to me. Also sumire and Sarada’s relationship must be SO interesting cuz they’re the only ones who remember who Boruto really is!!!! And they’re like alone in that retrospect. Also I do really like konohamaru and Sarada’s relationship too… even if I Barely think about it. Ahahah.

Like sarada is such an interesting character considering the whole uchiha aspect. She is born in a time where her dad is the only uchiha, and she doesn’t get to spend time with her dad — so who knows what the hell she knows about them — considering Sasuke is on his mission then. So what she knows, she must have heard from Sakura. Cuz I assume to a certain point, Sakura must tell her about her grandparents/the Uchiha (but also I think Sakura would want Sasuke to tell her when he comes back since that’s right and because she didn’t know them personally) Which is interesting too — cuz that means Sasuke told Sakura about his family at some point. like, I’d think that Sasuke would eventually tell Sakura things about his family. Like beyond the whole “why itachi did it” which lol Sakura didn’t even know in canon but must have learned at some point post canon but also? General maybe stories about his family? Anyways back to the point: like the uchiha has SO much history and it’s kind of crazy that Sarada comes from a time where she doesn’t know that long history (or will in second hand only) like woah man…..

Not to mention she has like the mangekyo sharigan now??? Like DOES she know????? Yeah Sasuke knows and saw it but it wasn’t exactly the moment to tell her lol and like she can’t see her own eyes… but like now I’m wondering if you know uchiha feel it when they get the mangekyo sharigan… but I doubt that sarada knows she has it. Or well. The manga could prove me wrong. Also if she does start using it — which I hope not — cuz it’s gonna start give me stress. It's surprising and, perhaps, a little depressing for a book so ostensibly beloved and held up as one of the finest in English literature, that Pride and Prejudice is so widely misquoted and misunderstood. It seems to be primarily viewed as a romance in the public's imagination, rather than the comedy of manners it truly is.

A large part of these misconceptions are admittedly, due to its various adaptations. I think a lot of people are surprised when they read the novel for the first time and discover that Mr Collins does not possess an affinity for boiled potatoes; that the proposal scene does not take place in the rain; that the second proposal is not made by Mr Darcy stumbling over his words at dawn and, ultimately, that he does not emerge from a lake in a wet white shirt. Nor is he really a brooding romantic hero.

The adaptations have had such a huge impact on the popular perception of Pride and Prejudice, that all of these products can be found on only the first two pages of an Etsy search of the title. All very nice products, I am sure. However, none of them contain quotes found in the original novel:

I question how widely-liked the actual novel is, if those who are keen to walk around in merch or decorate their homes inspired by Pride and Prejudice, are doing so with references that are nowhere to be found in the book's pages. Adaptations are part of many of our paths to falling in love with the novel; they were part of mine. But there are so many hilarious quotes contained within the first few chapters alone, you soon realise that nothing can live up to Austen's quick, witty dialogue or her observational comedy.

Yet, even when the novel is correctly quoted, it is not always done in an apt manner. Jane Austen was deemed important enough by the Bank of England to warrant her own banknote. Released in 2017, it looks like this:

I remember the controversy about the portrait, and how little it actually looks like the only (incomplete) drawing we have of Jane (which was said by those who knew her to not even resemble her all that well), but that's another matter. I'm most interested in the quote from Pride and Prejudice beneath it:

Let's put the quote in context. It is taken from chapter 11, and spoken by Caroline Bingley who is trying, unsuccessfully, to capture the attention of Mr Darcy.

Why did she pick up a book? Because Mr Darcy did:

'Darcy took up a book; Miss Bingley did the same'

How much enjoyment did she derive from the book? Not a great deal, apparently:

'Miss Bingley’s attention was quite as much engaged in watching Mr. Darcy’s progress through his book, as in reading her own; and she was perpetually either making some inquiry, or looking at his page. She could not win him, however, to any conversation; he merely answered her question, and read on.'

And now comes the actual passage from which the quote is taken, which tells us why Caroline chose that particular book:

'At length, quite exhausted by the attempt to be amused with her own book, which she had only chosen because it was the second volume of his, she gave a great yawn and said, “How pleasant it is to spend an evening in this way! I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library."'

On the surface, such a quote—especially taken in isolation—would invariably lead you to believe that said character was an avid reader. However, the context demonstrates that Miss Bingley is far from a bookworm.

If you were left in any doubt, however, her next action surely confirms it:

'No one made any reply. She then yawned again, threw aside her book, and cast her eyes round the room in quest for some amusement'

As soon as Caroline realises that her quest to capture Mr Darcy's affection is futile, she throws her book away entirely; perhaps there are more enjoyable pursuits than reading, after all.

So, a quote deemed to have such importance as to be immortalised forever alongside Jane Austen on the currency of an entire nation (the design of which will likely be used for several decades) is so important in the context of the novel that it is... uh... *checks notes* ignored entirely. Right.

I mean, I don't necessarily understand why the quote had to be about reading but if it was, I could argue that a quote from Mr Darcy in chapter eight, about how extensive reading improves the mind could be far more sincere. Or why not one of the numerous lovely quotes from the novel? Obviously, an agenda was set and a quote needed to be found to match it.

Still, it is quite ironic indeed that reading actually opens your eyes to how ridiculous a choice of quote was made.

Anyway, what is my overarching point? Well, I think, largely due to its various adaptations, a majority of people believe they know the story of Pride and Prejudice. But shockingly few, despite it being consistently ranked as one of the most popular books, actually understand it on the level which it deserves to be.

This post was not intended to bash adaptations, it is absolutely fine to like them! But they are, by their very nature, going to differ from the book. That is inevitable. Yet, I think it's quite sad when people watch a film or series and believe they can possibly understand the story on the same level. Spoiler alert: you cannot. I know books are a luxury and reading is time-consuming, but Pride and Prejudice is out of copyright now. PDFs are abundant, as are audiobooks if you cannot sit and read!

Put some time and effort into understanding the novel. I promise not a single second of it will be wasted; you will gain a deeper admiration for Jane Austen's talent as an author, and you will fall in love anew with the many wonderful characters she so beautifully brought to life.

so if you've been on this side of tumblr or any girly self improvement etc. side of social media, there's a high chance you've discovered the statement "you are the creator of your own reality" or "the world is yours" or something along those lines at some point. it sounds so far fetched when you first hear it, without any thought going into its true meaning, but the reason this is used so much is because it is true.

we are our lives. you are the world around you. everything in our lives is intrinsically entwined in ways we can't explain and the biggest connection out of all of them is us and life. it sounds obvious and self explanatory, sure, but when you think of it on a deeper level and dig into the complexity of the notion, like most things, you'll find it holds a lot stronger of a stance in your life.

have you ever noticed how so many metaphors for your life and bettering yourself reference and relate to nature and the world? "treat urself like garbage and the flies will come”, “water your own garden before anyone else’s”, “the darker the night, the brighter the stars”, “needing good roots to grow", they all relate to the sun and the sky and the sea and the world and the ground we stand on. they all relate to earth.

have you ever noticed how when people free themselves from bad situations, their reality and their world around them seems to get better too? how it seems to shift along with them?

because we are our world. every building we've built, every concept we've invented, every life we've created and every life we've lost, everything on this earth down to the last blade of grass was once nothing, but once we began to discover and create and flourish and bloom (see, the analogy still stands even there), the world grew along with us, and still is every day.

in truth, the world is in no set way, shape or form. it is not a singular entity. that's why your life can be remade and reshaped so easily within the blink of an eye (but that's for another time) because the world you know is solely your reality. that's the reason everybody has a different perception of you just as you do them, the reason why we have separate interests, conflicting outlooks, the list goes on.

the more we grow, so does our world, and our reality. you've seen how many people have changed and grown and gotten happier and healthier and only kept on going when they finally began to step up and better themselves, how their world changed along with them. because us and the world are one and the same.

the most important thing i'd like you to ask yourself is how do you treat the world? how do you view the world? and how do you treat and view yourself? are there any particular differences? similarities? anything that stands out? what is the world to you?

This might be a bit random but would you say you have any thoughts on Neurodivergent readings of Zhongli (more specifically autistic)? I was thinking about it in the latest chapter of JG amd even before then too. as an autistic person myself i feel he reads very heavily as such, especially when talking about his human mask and feeling like he doesn't need to force it as much with childe, and his issues with human expression in smiling etc. but I think it's then an interesting debate between that and the fact that, well, he's just not human. that all comes from a place of being an entirely different species, unevolved and unrelated to human brains and how they think and read social patterns, and I feel we don't really have any way of telling if ZL has any divergent tendencies among dragons right? and even then he's half, too, so that affects things.

anyway sorry for the ramble I was mainly wondering if you had any opinions on the matter, or if you intended the parallels I definitely see while reading your Zhongli! love your work as always <3333

i think i might've commented on this at some point but never directly, so here – i do have thoughts on the matter!

as you mentioned, it's difficult to tell with characters that aren't human, because you can't call something 'neurodivergent' if the bases for their neurotypical-ity are not the ones by which we measure this stuff. so, to me, ALL non-human characters are neurodivergent-coded. they may not be neurodivergent, technically speaking (like how you mentioned, maybe all dragons are just like zl), but to us, they read as such. so, coded. ultimately i do think there is merit in labeling them as neurodivergent because, even if they, again, technically aren't; we are going to run into problems if we attempt to treat them as neurotypical, so we might as well say yeah, neurodivergent. it is also kinda correct anyway – they do diverge from us. that's a fact. it's like saying dogs are colorblind. if all dogs see in the same range, then you can't say your dog in specific is colorblind (unless it actually is but that's beside the point); but compared to us, from our perspective, for what it matters to us and how that will translate into how we treat them then yes! dogs are colorblind! i think i mentioned it once in conjunction with characters like alhaitham. to me, zhongli is neurodivergent-coded, while alhaitham is neurodivergent straight-up. because (as far as we know) he's human, so his brain should, in theory, be like ours.

as for which flavor of neurodivergency zl is coded to have in specific i would agree with you on autism! but then again, i'm not an expert on these things, i don't know the exact ins and outs and the specific characteristics that constitute an autistic character – i just write them the way i perceive them, with the quirks i perceive them to have. not to get preachy but i think that's the better way to write characters in general, since that's how real people work, after all. people with autism aren't born fitting some parameters that will make them autistic – they're born with specific quirks that we then interpret as autism, and even then you don't necessarily get two people having the exact same experience with this. most of these terms are umbrella terms regardless as to how well-defined or how big or small the umbrella is.

I have to right a wrong in the Good Omens fandom. Over and over again I see edits of Crowley to the song killer queen, and while they are fun and entertaining you couldn't be more wrong. Crowley is good old fashioned lover boy of this pair.   Aziraphale is the killer queen. I am very passionate about this. Just look at the lyrics the literal first sentence from the song is "She keeps her Moët et Chandon In her pretty cabinet" sound familiar right?

The subtitles are awful but you get my point.

And that is far from the only time the lyrics sound suspiciously like Aziraphale. Just look here.

Hey there!!!!! For the first question, I 100% acknowledge the force of Serena’s crush on Ash in the XY series— even if I did tweak it so that she would fall after meeting him for the first time, watching him train for the Gym and having seen him fall off Prism Tower inspiring her to see him through tinted lens (and how it evolved from the admiration she had for him when they were kids so long ago). While XY anime itself had the weird notion of making everyone down for Ash (a terrifying scene after coming out of the professional haters of BW and literally every series before it) (ngl though I am a believer of the polycule + Bonnie idea lol, it exists in my heart), I can’t deny that side of Amourshipping even if I’m not a shipper myself or even much of a good writer for romantic relationships imo. In my AU I want to show how that love for him grows and eddies throughout the series: from their first meeting to taking up her own dream of showcases to seeing Ash lose himself in his endless hunt for strength— how she puts him on a pedestal because he was the first Trainer she knew, the strongest one she knew, and back then how she didn’t know better, relying on him instead of taking the risks herself and working with other people for a change. You’re absolutely right in the potential their relationship have in XYZ especially; with Serena coming to the tail end of her first Showcase season, ending up in the same place as before but with a totally changed perspective, and Ash fixating more than ever on being the best of the best, distancing himself from everyone else… and of course, all of that feelings and realisations coming to a head in Snowbelle, the Crisis, and the aftermaths. And also having both of them face each other at the end of it all and realising how much changed. I’m not really sure if I’m wording any of this right or if what I’ve said even makes sense heh, especially since I’m not too far ahead in this AU, but their friendship and that romantic subtext is definitely going to play a part in this series, and even if the plot details changes like the weather I’m going to do my best in keeping it as true to its potential as it should be (because a girl can be in love and also grow as a person, in spite and despite and even with it— you’ve just got to find the right angle).

(Also I’m going to have fun with that crush, so it might meet some light-hearted banter and miscommunications and all of that stuff. I mean, hey, these are kids on a journey lol. There are going to be awkward moments for everyone at some point, but they’ll grow past it as with everything else. Also fun memories. :P)

For the second question, wow, I’ve been giving it so much thought lol. I’m nowhere near the Showcases right now (although it is closer than what canon gave us in my AU) and yet it’s all I can do to plan for how it works. I have spitballed a few ideas with friends but for me (so far) I honestly want more of it to be outdoors. Showcases as a whole has this pesky problem of being a one-to-one copy of Contests but ‘declawed’ by having no battles, and it really gets me because if we’re discarding battles then we have to actually redefine Showcases as a whole— because the battle portion is the ultimate showing of precision and control with your Pokémon and their moves, which is what Contests are all about. Especially with AG and DP, we see examples of atypical Appeal rounds with Harley going for a more terrifying show of power, while Kenny (as :/ as a character as he was) goes for showings of strength— even though they are not ‘beautiful’ they still get to pass, because it really is about how your bond can perfectly translate to moves that can command the audience and grab their attention, naturally highlighting the Pokémon. With Showcases though, to me, they are more about creativity— about how a Performer can work with their Pokémon to get past certain obstacles which are based off a certain characteristic the Kalos Queen should have (the Theme round or whatever it was called lol) and then the Freestyle showing off what they uniquely bring to the table, their own brand, what they want to be remembered by (in which I thought that they could bring props to that originally but eh, that’s what my AU is for!). Sheesh, I went through such a big rant and I still feel fired up heh, but ig this is to say that since Showcases are about creativity, the outdoors location would be a great way to show how they deal with everything. On a sunny day, would they use Grass or Fire Types? Would they call out a Rain Dance and form a rainbow? Of course they wouldn’t actually have an open venue if it’s raining or snowing, but in different terrains can you see the characters stand out, I feel like. Also giving all sorts of Pokémon room like Flying or Ground. I have a bunch more ideas of course, about it being connected to PokéVision (still mad about how that concept got dumped) and having small events where people can get to know the up and coming Performers, getting hints for the Theme section so we don’t get the most unbalanced group of people and have a real competition (that always bothered me ngl), as well as other tweaks to that whole system. Showcases can be good in their own light, it’s just the rep of it being baby ‘only girls’ Contest (still thinking about the girls bit ngl) along with the stupid popularity bit of it (not that the concept is bad in and of itself, just that it should have a place and not be the be all end all of passing to the next stage) (it’s only good for the Freestyle, can I say that?) that makes it flop. Also because it came in so late and left so early. And the rivals kind of sucked because they weren’t given any time to grow. And the way Serena wasn’t challenged enough through them. So basically, I’ve got A Lot of thoughts about it and it’s going to be a headache to go through because it desperately needs a redesign to be viable in any way. I'll be honest, I don't really want to talk about the movie. I don't actually enjoy being too negative, especially when it comes to a series that used to mean the world to me. I accept that I'm in the minority once again, that I must have missed that one spark that captivated everyone else.

I dunno. I'm not happy that the movie disappointed me. I liked the first two as they were, even with the first one being very generic and safe and the second one having the dragged out wedding subplot. I thought they were entertaining and charming in their own way. But this one made me physically cringe, between the constant jokes that undermined the potentially emotional moments, the forced conflict that is out of character even for movie Sonic, turning Gerald into a complete monster at the expense of Shadow and especially Robotnik who were gutted like fish (robotnik babyboy what did they do to you), worsening Maria's Fridged Girl status (which is a shame because I really loved the flashbacks with her! She's adorable!), a flat climax whose most memorable moments are Gerald's utterly spiteful death and Stobonik becoming canon in the most fanservice-y way, and overall this general... hollowness to it, like it wanted to please SA2 fans so badly by presenting a cheap copy and swearing it's just like the real deal. It was painful to sit through, and unlike other things I bitch about, I genuinely hoped it wouldn't happen. Did I grow older? Did my taste change? Did the writing actively get worse? I don't know, and I don't think I want to think about the answer.

Anyway, I'm here if you want to ask me some opinions about Sonic things I like :) I don't talk much about my boy anymore, but I'm still fond of him.
