Going to go with the oringinal boy (tm) since I can't think of anyone I can ramble about WITHOUT going off-topic rn. I can also go off-topic with Ash but I'm more restrained today bc of this horrible reaction to the worst coffee-based drink I've tasted. ANYWAYS:

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

Woo, boy, I have no idea if I can survive an encounter with Ash, let alone bunk out with him. I feel like he would be out of the room most of the time anyways, but still. His side would be a mess and so would mines (because I can get so lazy sometimes, it's a problem lol), and a few days later we would have Trubbish spawning in our room. And then he would befriend them. And then we would have another problem, because there would be too many Pokemon plus these Trubbish, and because they look cute I can't say no, but they still stink and you get the gist lol. And that's not even accounting for the crazy adventures that he would go throigh. Great stories at night? Definitely, but being a part of them? Will I be able to live a normal life afterwards? Is it worth the cost of meeting Legendaries and possibly even befriending them? It depends heh. But also Ash does seem pretty dependable in a pinch when it comes to situations like that, so maybe I can deal. Also I would get to be with so many Pokemon which would be a dream come true (tell me you wouldn't hug half of his team just to know how it feels).

(he would still need to clean his side of the room though, I'm not responsible for that)

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

Hmm I don't know if I have anything definite yet since I just finished mindlessly going through every season ever, but I definitely feel like Ash would go on to try out some contest circuits after Journeys. Expand his reach a little, play around with his Pokemon in a different light, learn about the different battling style in more depth (also get bombarded by all of his coordinator friends lol). I think a lot of people forget that he's not only just a League battler guy, but a Trainer that wants to try all sorts of stuff to bond with Pokemon (he even tried Pokemon fashion at one point!). And c'mon, it would be super fun to have him run into the contest hall with that funeral cowboy suit all dusty and then he just proceeds to call out Melmetal, who starts doing an improvised fortnite dance complete with dabbing for their appeal round. He gets eliminated of course, but in my heart he won and it was very close anyways. Also imagine the rivals!! Man this is getting me inspired. Anyways Coordinator Ash ftw.

actually that reminds me of how i was quickly skimming some xy eps and my sister wanted to watch one of them (the power plant ep). i warned her about the evo and how it happened and she was like, yep, okay, can't wait to see it.

(we were watching sub but no vol bc night time)

so after the insane event of taking a thunder fang on his shoulder (istg xy and its sacrifices) (also thank you sister for the ideas from that part lol), luxio goes on to licks clemont's hand once the mind control wave thing briefly stopped.

anyways i couldn't stop laughing at that and we had to stop there because she just,, couldn't comprehend how fast that was lol. i mean i didn't remember it being that fast either but god, what a way to evolve.

(we continued a while later and she just... couldn't stop thinking about that part. we also got an ongoing joke about how much clemont throws his body for luxio, like his shoulder in this ep and when he first got it he sacrificed his booty to a point-blank psybeam like mate how are you okay??)

so yeah. watching xy shenanigans for everyone to enjoy lol.

12. An unpopular character you like? (and why more people should like them)

Ooh, hmm, this'll be fun. there are so many examples in pokeani and honestly some are a little eh, but then I remembered how almost every comment I see about 'worse' characters seem to include Max and I just don't get it?? How can anyone hate him??

(fun fact, when I was first watching him - in dub mind you - I also really didn't like him much. but I was coming off from the end of the OG, which was pretty sad considering who we lost, and tbh especially in 4kids early seasons dub EVERYONE was pretty unlikeable. I think I hated almost everyone back in the early gens at some point lol; I can be real vindicative but I think watching the whole thing taught me to take my time before judging stuff :v)

But yeah!! I really don't get the hate. Oh, so he said that Ash sucked for getting 8th place in the Silver Conference - can we all remember that a) legit kid and b) he's seeing this guy lose to an evolved starter from his own region of the SAME type as Ash's. It's like watching a Venasaur lose to Meganium if you're from Kanto; you'll be feeling pretty patriotic and stuff too ngl, especially if you don't have any battle experience yet.

But he acts so smart - Yes, and?? I don't see anyone talk about how Gary was coming up in the first season spouting random facts only to lose in the prelims and get a lower place than Ash. Again, I wish that people remember that Max is the kid of a Gym Leader, who reads and watches Leagues to make up for not being able to watc the Gym Battles taking place under the same roof, who dreams of becoming as strong if not stronger than his father. He's going to have high expectations. He's going to think that knowledge is everything. He's going to show off as much as he can, to make up for the fact that he's the only one in the group who isn't a Trainer. And I love how he learns that you have to actually interact with Pokemon to learn what it's all about, that you can't replace experience, that you can still experience things now even if you are too young to start. There isn't a limit to going out and interacting with the world. He doesn't have to wait. He's allowed to make mistakes and own up and not know stuff and grow, now and in the future. In a way, he's learning the same things as May, and I think that's wonderful.

And while I wish that he could've gotten a Pokemon while on the journey (one that he could keep à la XY with Bonnie), I'm fine with what he had in Advanced. He got to see Gym Battles. He got to travel two (2) regions. He got to see different aspects of being a Trainer, as a Coordinator and as a Breeder/Doctor. He got the recognition of his father in the end and was able to get into the Gym business. He got to play and learn with so many Pokemon and just act his age for once, instead of having to grow up to make up the percieved difference (wrongly percieved, might I add). Dang it, he brefriended two Mythical Pokemon (Jirachi and that other Deoxys). I dunno, he's doing pretty well for himself. Sure he's snappish and remarks on a bunch of stuff, but AG is full of that (ugh Ash was on another level, especially in Hoenn) (we don't talk about flat Brock) and S1 Kanto was way worse.

Anyways everyone go out and appreciate this goober. He did not bond with this Ralts for nothing and I swear I did not cry in this ep just for everyone to hate him. His character growth was awesome and if we ever get a Chronicles 2.0 I need to see his journey (the kids that go with Ash legit get such powerful Pokemon I fear for the competition lol).

and i JUST finished that annoying lab report that makes no sense whatsoever (i hate bacteria so much. why. i also hate evolution, which one of my professors pronounces it as eeveelution and i had to stop myself from laughing)

in the library there is a massive bug flying around

i've been stuck here since 7:30

i only slept for 5 hours

okay i've already finished the class at this point and dang my stomach feels worse. what did i drink, knock-off mocha?? poison?? i never felt this bad drinking something in a long, long while (if ever)

never trust cafes in uni again. back to the vending machine rip

much more interesting things about pokemon that i'm going though:

after trying out pokerogue a week or so ago, i'm somehow more than halfway the whole thing. for my first pokemon-adjacent game (well, more fanmade than anything), i'm doing decently well. yeah i cheat by restarting before i die but i'm pretty sure everyone does at this point lol.

it's actually interesting that most of my opponents (as gym leaders/bad guys) are unova/kalos respectively. where is my character and why are they inbetween these two regions??

it's so much more funnier when you know that at least half my team is weak to fire. i don't know how they're surviving. team flare keeps bringing out fire types and i hate that my first gym leader was chili aka his monkey that knows incinerate. + i 'basically' died so many times to xerosic aka one (out of TWO??) of his vilillon know hurricane that somehow smashs my team and one (again out of two) of his malamar knows superpower = all but two of my team is hella weak to that move.

even more funnier that i keep oneshotting wild pokemon that i want to get. talonflame? mimikyu (which always survives the first attack but dies in the next no matter what i do)? that stupid manetric (that i found twice at least??) that oneshots ME if i give it a chance and try to catch it when it has like 5 hp left?

i feel like the game knows what xy does to me because right after surviving another flare grunt i face LYSANDRE?? of all people?? i was so lucky that i healed them all up as much as my saved up money would allow bc hrngg i hate that 7 foot man. so many deaths between him and xerosic. hate this french guys fr (the scientist is still the worst though. all he does is reinforce my fear of vilillon and malamar)

i love how i managed to sweep a whole area with my magnezone. it was a fairy cave with a bunch of fairy + water types. flash cannon + zap cannon go brr

talking about magnezone, i keep forgetting that discharge will mess up anyone else on my team in a double battle (kept killing my poor squawkabilly whose a beast with aerial ace but sucks in defence + weavile who is weak to say too many things to be alive rn and yet still tanks with triple axel and rock smash). kind of the same issue as my previous ace rillaboom, who fell from his pedestal due to wood hammer and its stupid recoil damage (i replaced it dw but he’s still very behind compared to the rest of my team). this game is really teaching me about how moves work and their viability in games as opposed to anime

im pretty sure that fairy cave took me to johto cause all of a sudden i got pryce. why?? and his mr ryme (which is female?? also wow hello gen 8 with my gen 2 gym leader) knows double kick aka i'm DEAD pls

anyways weavile carries my team along with magnezone, squawkabilly is largely backup if i'm stuck with fighting types (plus any pesky grass and bug), my comfort furret that used to be my real comfort sentret hold sucker punch and echoed voice just in case but is really just There lol, persian i used to really rely on when it had fake out + feint but power gem is super useful (and i hold hope that i can use pay day in excess in the future), and rillaboom has knock off (used to be really useful) and is mostly there to smash through water types. i did not choose this team, this team chose me at this point heh

honestly not doing this for competitive stuff so i don't have any qualms about refreshing the page before the game puts me at the start again, but where does everyone get their legendaries?? and how on earth did i oneshot my rival's shiny rayquaza with triple axel HELP

all in all, pretty good progress. rn around 160?? middle of nowhere. giving me major mezase vibes with the fact that i have no idea where i am. my rival is confounded as i am about oneshotting his recent team with weavil, only my bird is female, and somehow all of those fire-type moves and pokemon are just gone. and i never knew how awesome sturdy can be until my magenezone is just,, living after an earthquake. with 1 hp. and oneshots that abomasnow afterwards with flash cannon. anyways everyone should give them so much love especially since i raised it from a wee magnemite with, like, thunderwave or smth. it literally only had status moves at the start.

also how come all of my rare eggs are just starters?? in the game where all starters are already avaliable from the start?? + one shiny sneasel but AFTER i already have my main one. btw does anyone care for 3 torchics lol
