So, I was nosing around the gang's tents and I thought that it was honestly so sweet that so many of them have photographs of themselves or of family right?

Dutch actually writes notes for his famous camp speeches.

And if you've seen the speech that these notes are referring to, Dutch seemed to simplify it a lot when he recited it, almost dumbing it down for the gang entirely?

Writing notes for an important speech isn't the strange part, but the fact he dumbs them down and that these notes are hidden/thrown away out of sight is really strange to me. It makes me think that this is possibly a rough draft or early version of what he wanted the speech to be, sort of implying that Dutch practices and revises his speeches.

Which, if he ultimately dumbs them down for the gang, then what is the point?

The likely answer is that he holds himself to a higher standard because he feels he's above the gang members, in a way. He's the visionary, the leader, the man in charge, the one who reads philosophy books almost exclusively, to say that Dutch didn't think highly of himself would be a lie. And because the gang is 'below' him, he simplifies his speeches for them - despite majority of the gang being well educated and understanding. He doesn't think that the gang is as intellectual as him.

I made a post previously talking about Dutch and his Evelyn Miller philosophies and how he argues with gang members that don't agree or understand. It's especially interesting how Lenny, also an avid reader, disagrees so strongly with Miller's writings when that's what most of Dutch's philosophies are based on.

It solidifies that Dutch was manipulative from the beginning, and probably long before too.

Both lying on his couch, half of you draped over his still fireproof suit-clad body, you were lazily running your nails on the nape of his neck and even threading your fingers through his short hair. Mick was anxious, but a good kind of edgy, more relieved after all the stress, but he was happy with the fact that he had you around to pamper him. The truth was, he missed you like crazy.

So when his hands tightened around you and his lips found yours in a heated kiss, you were not even slightly surprised. He surprised you though when he moved his body to have more access to you and pushed your dress higher exposing your thighs and panties.

My thoughts on the new Doom game

Remember when Mick Gordon posted that really damning, well-written, and heavily backed up Medium essay detailing how id Software repeatedly fucked him over on the Doom Eternal soundtrack and then on top of that tried to ruin his career and pay for his silence afterward? Remember when Bethesda posted a big statement after Mick's article went viral where they claimed Mick lied about the whole thing and they had receipts proving that he did, despite Mick also having receipts that said the opposite? Remember how despite saying this, Bethesda has still not released any evidence of this 2 years later, presumably because Mick ratio'd them into silence?

Cause I remember. And no matter how fun that new Doom game looks, it's not gonna be the same without Mick, and I worry that whatever poor soul got brought on board will face similar treatment and not get their proper dues.

Ok so random thing for Hazbin. When it comes to voice actor changes from the pilot to when the actual show came out, most of them were very similar or fine, a example being Charlie and Vaggies voices where its basically the same. HOWEVER.

Mick Lauer performance as Husk in the Pilot was weirdly PERFECT, the low grouchy tone, he truly sounds like a man who's just done with everything and everyone, a contrast to Pilot Alastors much more playful and energetic personality. DONT GET ME WRONG, Keith David is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING as Husk and a BUNCH of other roles, and Loser Baby is absolutely, MWAH....but something about Pilot Husks old grouchy voice STILL sits with me and makes me wish he had another chance as Husk for some other thing. Overall, both Keith and Mick are AMAZING on Husk, so for now I "headcannon" (I guess) that beta Husk

So this is a really great question and I'd love to answer it in big detail so I will do it on this post as this way I can also add images! I hope you're okay to me replying this way and sorry because this is so long lmao

First of all, I gotta say that I carefully re-read every comic that's on the list and organized them or added them if I think Mick's characterization is good there. Mick appears in more comics but I don't even think they're worth mentioning as his not characterization isn't really great in those or very out of character considering his situation in that era. Every comic that's in red / I marked as important I think have a good understanding of Mick's character and I 100% recommend them to know Mick's character well and in a consistent way.

And now, responding your question, I think I have the answer you're looking for. Because even though modern comics did a lot for Mick and helped him when it comes to be more present in mainstream media, Silver and Bronze Age are just my favourite comics of him.

Don't get me wrong, Mick being a pyromaniac (which is something that Geoff Johns added to the character) is really interesting and added a lot of depth to him, especially in the hands of good writers, but I am also obsessed with his Bronze Age Origin Story, because it was also the attempt that writers made at trying to made him a more complex character.

In The Flash #266 (1959) Mick almost managed to defeat The Flash but he wasn't capable of finishing him, and so he decided to talk to a psychiatrist. Something that Johns rescued (and I'm glad he did) is how self-aware Mick is as he is aware that he has an illness and talks to an expert about his issues, but I won't talk more about this on this post.

Then this is how the first proper origin story of the character developed. When Mick was a child, he got stuck in a freezer room. He almost froze to death, but he could open the door using the heat of his breath. This story may sound familiar to you as Johns included it in his origin story for Mick, but it was a friend who put him in the freezer as a "joke", still, he doesn't use the story in the same way that's used here.

The thing is that the experience traumatized Mick and made him develop what they call "cold-phobia" (I'm not really sure if the heat's breath while being stuck in a freezer and the term "cold-phobia" are scientifically accurate but well, it was the 70s). And he didn't finished the Flash because when he had the opportunity he was in a really cold room and I guess he has PSTD and just ran from the scene. They also explains that they reason why he's so obsessed with heat is because that is what saved him in that freezer room.

I do admit I'm biased about pre-crisis Mick because I'm an absolute sucker for Silver Age (specially if it's about the flash comics) and I prefer older comics. I really do think that Johns did a better job in psychology terms when it came to his backstory, I think he writes about Mick's illness pretty well a lot of the times and you can tell that he knows what he's talking about in Mick's backstory. But in response to your comment, I think Mick's character can be complex in the Silver & Bronze Age if you know how to interpret them in both older and actual standards.

What I want to say and why I explained his Bronze Age Origin is because, if you're going for a Silver Age Mick I'd recommend if you considered this backstory. I mix Silver and Bronze Age because it's the same continuity for him and everything that they explain about Mick also explains his character in Silver Age comics. If you haven't, I'd recommend if you read all the comics in my reading guide about Silver & Bronze Age Mick, because I'm pretty sure those stories can be useful when it comes to adding depth to his character !

Me, I am biased about Mick in the Silver & Bronze Age like I said but I just think I really have a long way before I love Mick in the modern comics to the same level. Starting with the way he's often written so inconsistent when Johns doesn't write about him and also considering the fact that I haven't read a lot of him post-flashpoint (no reason in particular, I'm just not into actual comics), just some new 52 issues and that mini arc where he joins the Suicide Squad, they left me disappointed even though I'm always happy to see my boy in a new story. I do have in my list to read all his modern appearances and maybe will create a post-flashpoint reading guide for him, but until now, I'll stick to older comics!

i really REALLY don't get why the entire genre of rock sleeps on the absolute monster sweet were. they did not do glam rock, hard rock, heavy metal, prog rock and pop rock etc. AND influence many bands after them for people to only remember them as "the weirdly dressed guys from tv". (someone in my family said that about them once and lemme tell you, i was a little sour - hello? they slay.) anyways, they were a force to be reckoned with, especially considering two very special factors:

A) their four-way harmony. they executed it perfectly. their voices blend together so well you sometimes can't even tell the boys apart anymore. and, it's a unique sound to sweet only - tight harmonies, no matter the style they're singing. a ballad like "lady starlight" oder "you're not wrong for loving me"? count on sweet to sound like velvet. a hard rock song like "no you don't" or "sweet f.a."? you better not underestimate the absolute beast of these four voices unleashing upon you. it's fucking hard to do it like them and damn, they deserve so much more recognition for it.

B) the one and only michael thomas tucker on drums. (i have a lot more to say about mick and i'm saving much of it for a seperate post cause he deserves the appreciation, but lemme say a few words.) mick is unironically one of the top 10 drummers of all time. he's got such a remarkable style you can tell it's him drumming in the very first moment of a concert (or a song). he can play drumrolls ONE-HANDED and don't worry, tubular bells simultaneously to a steady beat are also not a big deal. two bass drums at the same time? not a problem. you want mick to play the gong in the middle of the song but he has to continue drumming almost immediately? that man has your back and makes it look so easy. he's a driving force in the sound of sweet and his drumming rhythms make their songs stand out. mick could do a drum solo for two hours and it would be a top tier concert, i said what i said.

i wish that people would stop sleeping on them. it's always refreshing to see some on youtube who react to their live performances and realise "holy fucking shit, they're great". so, for 2025 let's all stop sleeping on andy scott, steve priest, mick tucker and brian connolly 🙏🏻

I have mixed feelings on the Manifest finale.

Like I wanted Ben and Saanvi to be together from the beginning. They just had a ton of chemistry. I thought for sure Ben and Grace were not gonna make it and he’d up with Saanvi.

Obviously that prediction was way off. And then I thought, okay never gonna happen. Then the last season they start hinting at it and moving toward and it finally happens! And then. Nope nevermind. Like wtf?!

And same with Jared and Mick! Like I didn’t want them at first and I loved Zeke, but Jared was just so in love with Mick. Like he did everything for and her family. He did not falter. So the show drags me along, makes me ship it. Then in the most annoying and cliche way ever (oh I have to tell you something…oh nevermind just come check in in 8 months) break up the ship in one scene, a ship they have been building since season one. So Jared who has been completely devoted and in love with Mick is just gonna ditch her bc a woman he was having friends with benefits relationship got pregnant. Like he has one conversation with Mick about it and that’s enough to end the relationship. After one conversation this man walks out of Mick’s tent to jump straight into Drea’s. Wtf.

So I was expecting to be disappointed in the ending. But I actually think they did a decent job. I didn’t think they’d actually go back bc of Eden and Hope and all the dead people, but they made it work. And then it makes sense that they had to kill the Mick and Jared and Ben and Saanvi relationships.

But I’m still a little bitter about it.

And the TJ/Violet things was weird. Like come on. I mean having him interact w young Olive was weird too. So ig they were trying to fix that. But with Cal’s girlfriend? Damn

Also does Violet or any of the resurrected passengers know what happened? It didn’t seem like they remembered.
