Floyd tries to scope out what lies at the end of the hallway using the gear built on his suit, but he can’t really see anything that stands out, which doesn’t match with the sound of gunfire he hears ahead.

Turning back and starting to debate whether to stay in the same spot or go outside to see if the team is fighting their target outside the building and if he can be of any help, a figure suddenly bursts out of the area he was watching. Lawton quickly aims with his scope until he realizes it’s Captain Boomerang.

“Digger?”

“Ah, mate, so ya were here!”

Floyd glanced down and noticed Harkness was bleeding from his torso while he was grabbing the wound with his hand.

“You’re hurt,” Lawton remarked. “Come here. I’ve got a first-aid kit with me.”

“Since when?” Boomerang asked as he lowered himself with difficulty, grimacing in pain.

“I know you can’t avoid it, but try not to ask stupid questions.”

Despite his struggle, Harkness managed to lie down on the ground, and Floyd moved Digger’s coat aside and lifted his shirt to reveal what appeared to be the result of a stab wound that had been bleeding for a while.

“Did you really think you’d survive with this wound?” Lawton asked while pulling out bandages and tools to disinfect the injury from the first-aid kit he had placed beside him.

“I’ve been through worse,” Harkness replies, trying to play it cool, but the pained groan he lets out as Floyd pours alcohol on his wound immediately show his true face. “You could’ve counted to three!”

“It would’ve been worse,” Floyd replies indifferently, though he allows himself to have a tiny smile in his face at the man’s reaction. Even so, he cleans the wound gently. “Relax, it’ll only take a moment.”

Next, Lawton grabs a long bandage, threading it around Digger’s back and pulling the ends together in front of the wound. Digger bites his lip, watching Floyd’s movements anxiously, bracing himself for the worst, and throws his head back as Floyd ties a knot over the stab wound.

“Bloody hell! Where did ya get yer license?”

“Hey, don’t complain. You have no idea how many times I’ve had to do this to myself.”

“And yer still alive?”

Lawton glances briefly at Digger but lowers his gaze as he finishes tying the knot. Digger lets out another yell, but it’s the last one before Floyd pulls his shirt back down.

“That’s everything. I don’t have anything for the pain, by the way,” Lawton says, lifting his eyes to meet Harkness’s, only to scowl as he notices the grin spreading across Boomerang’s face.

“God… What’s wrong with you?”

“Ya saved me.”

“Don’t be so dramatic.”

“Mmmm…” Digger murmurs, and slowly, despite his wound and the fact he shouldn’t be moving much, he leans toward Lawton, with that stupid grin still on his face. Floyd glares at him, but his expression shifts to astonishment when Harkness plants a kiss on his cheek.

“That means ya care about me.”

“Shut up!” Lawton shouts, frowning at him, but Digger’s smile doesn’t disappear.

“You being so mad ‘bout it only proves my point, Floyd.”

I love Mick Rory so much to the point where I created a reading guide about him.This list only covers all comics before Flashpoint. I'm also open to any questions about the character and I hope this helps anyone who wish to know more about Mick!

Okay I feel like I need to explain my situation with Geoff Johns' writing in Boomerang comics and everything else about the comments.

After I start, I want to say something about Boomerang's character in the Ostrander Run. First of all, my feelings are mixed; I agree that some things are just so unnecessary, and not just the him being racist part because that is already obvious. But also the thing of him being the "comic relief" which has led to him being very overlooked by another writers in the future even if Ostrander do not underestimate Digger strenght.

However, Ostrander, different to Geoff Johns, IS ACTUALLY A GOOD WRITER.

So I also like everything else that he does with the character. He makes him a sociopath and someone who enjoys killing people, which is OoC considering he is in the Rogues (a group that doesn't kill unless necessary) but at least, I feel that Ostrander knows what to do with him (most of the times) and he also explains his behavior which I think it's so important in someone with sociopathic behaviors (and maybe also someone with BPD). If you don't know, Digger was kinda the only rogue who was alive and didn't had a proper origin story (only the part with Wiggins and the toys company but not more). So, wether we like it or not, Ostrander is the one who redifined the character and made him who he is today.

Also, I feel that the Boomerang in the Ostrander run situation it's similar to Guy Gardner in JLI, as he was a parody of americans who were radical right but was also on the hands of writers who cared about the character and at least gave him depth even if some decisions were really bad and questionable.

But well, that is my opinion, you can disagree and I'll understand it but let's get to the main point.

@it-is-i-zim I 100% agree with you. I didn't mentioned Identity Crisis cause I didn't even thought it was necessary, it is one of the worst comics where Digger had a main role and does everything wrong about him.

I often do not like talking about Identity Crisis very much because it makes me really uncomfortable; the whole Sue Dibny situation (women in refrigerators flashback. Does comic writers do not learn? God.) and making Dr. Light a fucking serial r*pist for no reason at all when he was just a goofy and classic silver-age villain. And the whole mind manipulation thing too. There's just too many things wrong with this comic omg.

And Boomerang killing Jack Drake it's just... happens for no reason at all; because they wanted Digger dead so Owen could take the role I assume. But oh my god, Owen it's such a confusing character. Starting with the fact that WHY IS HE THERE. So Digger got trapped into the 30th century, had sex with Meloni Thawne and then came back to the 20th century for some reason and he just forgot that he did that and now he has a son and apparently Digger hide him because "he didn't wanted the rogues to find out"??? Excuse me?? That doesn't make any sense because he loved being in the Rogues and knew how honorable they were and it's just... Idk, it's so bad. I am blaming Geoff Johns for all of this because he had the opportunity to fix the character but just added more plot holes instead. AND ALSO MADE HIM A CHILD MURDERED. Also he's Bart Allen half-brother and it seems like no one actually cares????

Btw I am a Tim Drake fan and hating Boomerang for this, even if it were a good take on the character (it isn't) I wouldn't hate him for killing his father because that would be so childish. Last time I checked Jack Drake is not a real character so why should I care?

Anyways, moving on to the next point.

My main problem with how Geoff Johns writes about Captain Boomerang is that he writes a rogue profile about him when I just feel like it really wasn't necessary. The past times when Johns wrote a rogue profile he created a new origin story for the characters that was loyal to the original or just did a retelling of what happened in the comics and added some new things. But Digger actually had a origin story that Ostrander wrote and idk but I just get the feel that Johns changes what he wants but he actually does not care about his character. Him killing the parent he grew up with in the funeral makes no sense. I wouldn't complain if it was in the original story but the change feels really odd.

And then, the whole Reverse-Flash situation where he frees him?? Like oh my god he is not stupid, why would he do that. Idk that whole issue it's just so bad. I don't actually mind the others, I mean, it would make sense that he wanted to return to the Rogues and I fw his design. But I hate his rogue profile and tbh it's the only Rogue that I don't like how Johns write.

I finished my Boomerang x Deadshot fic, though I'm still working on it and need to do a lot of editing, I hope I can publish it next week. it's smut, and has 4.200 words with an extra chapter. It also takes place in the Ostrander run (details will be revealed when I post the fic-) but I want to share this tiny fragment of the fic. I am sharing it because I don't know if I'm going to change it yet as I'm unsure about Boomerang's characterization or if it will be in the final result so enjoy it as a treat I guess lmao. Also you may find some mistakes as it's a draft.

“Don't worry, I'll take good care of you,” Deadshot says. Despite the fact that Lawton said that to calm Digger down, the villain is feeling more insecure than usual. He has never known how to handle sweet and kind words because, even though he always expects to receive them, reality always turns out to be very different from what he expects. When he is treated with such gentleness, his worst demons attack him, and he starts feeling that he doesn’t deserve this, that what he’s experiencing isn’t real, and that it makes no sense for someone to treat him this way when the world has only been cruel towards him, and his repetitive sociopathic behaviors are the result of that. What he hates the most is overthinking all of this when Deadshot is probably saying things to him that he has said to a hundred other people in the past, which makes him feel that he is not special—a fear that has followed him since he moved to America. But he finally decides to stop thinking about it and hugs Lawton's body again, while the other man is dying to get closer to him, and all Harkness wants now is for the man to do exactly that, to take away all the thoughts he doesn't want in his head with rough sex.
