But it was at your touch, and your presence, that his eyes softened. The stagnant sharpness dissolving as he looked at you with a tenderness that was almost too raw to hide. You pulled back to get a better look at him as whole, ensuring he was fully intact.

"He's 'fine', in case you were wondering. Only told us 'bout a million times." Morgan added air quotes, sitting down and kicking his feet onto the table. "Refused medical attention, even."

"Manners." You swatted his foot, causing him to lower them before turning back to Aaron. You tutted at him softly, "You did? After that lil stunt you just pulled?"

"Well... I guess it is starting to hurt more now."

"I wonder why," JJ commented humorously under her breath, hiding her smile with her palm. Additionally, Emily and Derek gave him a look.

You quickly reached into your bag, riffling through it until you found your handy tube of Neosporin. "C'mon, let's get you cleaned up."

Aaron didn't argue, didn't utter a single word as he followed you to the bathroom like a lost puppy. Once inside the small space you maneuvered him back against the sink, washing your hands next.

"That was stupid of you." You wet a paper towel, dabbing his cuts and ridding of any dry blood, once again causing him to flinch at the touch. You pulled the towel away, pausing a moment, before resuming gently. "Even if you think you're not in need of getting checked out, please do, for my sake at least. "We were clearing the grounds and he managed to catch me by surprise," Aaron huffed out, evidently annoyed at himself. "I should have seen it coming. Seen him in the shadows, reacted faster."

You reassured him softly, tossing the towel aside and moving onto the Neosporin. After dabbing some onto your index finger, you began blotting it thoroughly onto the cuts. "Yeah?" A laugh escaped Aaron, but his chuckle was interrupted by the twinge in his ribcage, the entirety of it shooting up in pain.

"I'm sorry," you gasped gently, guilt sweeping through you.

"It's fine, 'm fine." He breathed out through his teeth, his jaw clenching momentarily, until the pain subsided. "I'm okay sweetheart. Now c'mon, your face is far too pretty to look that worried."

Your eyebrows were furrowed, eyes frantically searching his face.

"Really. So I'm a little bruised up, I've been through far worse."

You sighed, not entirely convinced. "Fine. But when we get home tomorrow," your eyes narrowed slightly, pointing the Neosporin at him as a 'threat'. "You're resting. Come hell or high water."

"I'm happy you're okay." Suddenly emotional, tears dared to spill from your eyes. They stalled at your waterline, completely blurring your vision. You hated to see him in pain, and the reminder of past events didn't help. "Don't scare me like that."

He feels no pressure when you're around, you don't call him a prodigy, or remind him anything soccer related unless he wants to talk about it; you just see him for who he is, Sae Itoshi, even though he's not so sure what you see past all his achievements in soccer.

His kisses are full of emotions, despite it being fleeting and short. Appreciative, loving, yearning, and more—he always makes up his kisses being short by giving you lots and lots, letting his lips reach every inch of your skin.

Mentioning a Pacific Rim Charlos AU 😵‍💫 It’s like you’re in my brain!!!

I've been wanting to write one for soooo long bc the two of them just scream drift compatible in the most delicious way, where they wouldn't always agree on how to approach/attack a fight but their impulses would complement each other. They're both aggressive, but I feel like Carlos would take a bit longer to ease into a fight whereas Charles would come out swinging lol. They'd have to learn to share control though, which is also why I think it would be such a good au, bc they wouldn't just be perfectly in sync (boring) right from the get-go 😂

If you haven't seen it, there's this amazing art from earlier this year that always sparks the urge for me again when I see it... Also, the track preview for Bahrain where Carlos controlled the pedals and Charles the steering wheel, or vice versa for Canada (they did an amazing lap with Charles at the pedals, I remember). Talking to @monflures about an alyanette au where Alya is scarabella and Marinette is Mao (Chinese for cat!)

pretty much:

Marinette never gets the earrings. Alya does.

It takes place a year after canon starts, so they're friends already. First day of the next year, Alya comes to walk to school with Marinette.

Marinette, as per usual, is late so Alya is waiting outside, where she hears a commotion. She does the same as marinette did, he was about to get hit so she sprinted and pushed him out the way. She would have been hit if the car hadn't stopped a moment before contact should have happened. She gets the earrings instead.

Marinette comes running out, finally ready for school, and starts chewing out the driver. She makes sure Master Fu is okay, offering to call him someone or help him home so it doesnt happen again. He accepts, being walked "home" by both girls to see if they're truly commited to helping people. They spend the entire walk making sure hes okay and Marinette gifts him some treats. This earns her the ring, as she's a bit more confrontational in this au.

The main ship would be either Alyanette

Alyanettes dynamic is the same, if a bit more romantic (they're dating, they'd act like a couple)

Alya is a good reporter, but because she's scarabella its harder to notice everything i suppose? between that and wanting to ignore it, because she REALLLY doesnt want marinette to be the same girl whos died hundreds of times for HER.

god I love tmbg's "spoiler alert" soooo much. their voices in their duets always work together beautifully, but this one just captivates me every time.

I like how it sounds not from the perspective of two separate people, but two aspects of the same person's consciousness. it feels like flansburgh, at least initially, sings thoughts that are struggling to be rational and trying to emerge from the back of the mind, while linnell is the racing thoughts that are more in focus.

L: they're gonna be so impressed, F: something is nagging at me, L: when they get a load of me, F: but never mind, it's gone.

I especially love the part just before this where flansburgh's vocals grow louder on the repetition of "which is a lucky thing," like the narrator is trying to drown out their anxieties by convincing themselves everything's okay.

the lyrics seem to hint at a person who's pushing themselves to burnout, perhaps even death, and neglecting things about themselves that need addressing in favour of their goal. the car imagery could suggest the narrative ending in a literal crash from distraction (spoiler referring to the part of a car, with the title being a double-meaning of the song's protagonist being suddenly alerted to the danger in front of them, and a spoiler in the sense that we all know how this story's going to end), or a metaphor for persisting with overwork until it's too late.

these thoughts sync together on the lyric "cover my eyes," which are the only lines in the song shared by both points of view, at which point their roles seem to swap; flansburgh's lines relent ("now I'm totally resting, I’m reclining while I'm driving, why have I not tried this until now? I'm letting go"), and linnell's push the awareness of danger to the forefront ("some kind of punctuational mark, some kind of, some kind of… some kind of trouble up ahead").

the calming instrumental outro suggests no thoughts, because the subject of the song is now incapacitated in some way, maybe - because it Is a they might be giants song - even dead. or you could read it as a more positive, temporary warning sign to slow down.

But then the way he flinches, just slightly, as "The Chemist" (as IMDb dubs him) is about to hit three...

And okay, between the scene with Malia, and how freaking close to getting shot he really was, and then the GUNSHOT SOUND--

Yeah I was genuinely terrified that Stiles was gonna die, and I KNOW he's in future episodes, but my heart didn't care.

But THANK GOD for Rafael, because THERE HE F*CKING WAS!

And Stiles was shaking, and terrified, and clearly anxious, but he was so quick to recenter himself and focus up and hear and process what Rafael was saying (thank GOD for Melissa with that phone call we love you! <3) and he RAN SO F*CKING FAST TO SAVE HIS FRIENDS!!

The way that, when all is said and done, even as Scott's holding on to Kira, when Malia walks away, Scott just looks over at Stiles in the upmost concern, because he realizes that Malia knows, and he KNOWS how much her walking away hurts his best friend.

rantaro is a big spoon, it just comforts him to sleep while holding somebody. kaito is also more big spoon leaning but with amami in particular being held by him makes him feel safe... the favourite way for them to sleep is facing each other, amamis arms around kaito's neck/shoulders, kaito curled up against his chest, their legs tangled...

post-game vr au is my favourite amamota setting... rantaro who is so exhausted after multiple kgs and kaito coping with the fact he doesn't rlly feel like a hero anymore. they lack any expectations for one another, esp on amami's end since he died before kaito could really get into the hero business, so they can just... relax. they can just rest. they dont need to Be anything with each other.

i think postgame kaito struggles w a phantom cough, especially after nightmares, sometimes he wakes up and it's like he's still in the game and still dying... but just seeing amami's face comforts him. reminds him that he can't be there anymore because AMAMI wasn't there.

these two are both asexual as i stated in my essay and specifically i also think they're both arospec/grayro. rantaro feels a lot of anxiety around romance/people crushing on him and kaito has just Never experienced romantic/aesthetic/sexual attraction the way people describe. with each other they just feel this closeness, like soul-deep, and this comfort around each other, like... there's none of that weird heaviness, no pressure for anything more than what they want their relationship to be. they are just each others ppl. smiles

they're so infodumper x listens! kaito loves to talk about space and rantaro loooooves listening to kaito talk about things. and he remembers them. asks kaito "oh that's what you were talking about last time?" and just knowing that rantaro was hearing him makes kaito so happy hehe.

they definitely go on a lot of trips together, not just to find rantaro's sisters but to have fun. rantaro likes taking kaito places, to visit NASA headquarters, out camping to see the stars, to visit the aurora lights... they see the world! lots of sailing, hiking, big outdoor hobbies couple.

on the same note as the last bullet these two LOVE going to the beach together. kaito loves tidepooling bc marine bio is one of his hyperfixations so he likes to tell rantaro about all the animals. they both love swimming and surfing and sunbathing, kaito always gets rantaro wrapped up in a splash war... and rantaro likes to buy kaito treats from ice cream trucks. hehe

kaito loves old jazz, they spend a lot of mornings just lazily slowdancing in the kitchen while their breakfast cooks. they're so in sync with each other their eyes r just... closed while they both sway back and forth. arms wrapped around each other soooo tight.

think they have a lot of plants :) and they're all named. kaito walks in on rantaro talking to them sometimes. lowkey i think rantaro just likes the sound of his own voice HAHA

they play games together, kaito has this natural competitive drive that i think he riles amami up with. sometimes kaito gets into something and all he has to do is go "bet you can't beat me" and rantaro will be On It. he's a dangerous man to challenge!

they r both huge romantics i believe. rantaro always comes home from trips with a thousand little gifts for kaito like "it just reminded me of you" and meanwhile kaito is always bringing him bouquets of flowers, serenading him, comparing his freckles and scars to constellations...

they're soooooo huge on physical affection. lazy and chaste. they take baths together, massage each other, kiss each other all over... kaito likes to joke that rantaro's freckles are a map for him to kiss. and rantaro will tickle kaito just to hear him laugh. they also play with each others hair a tonnnnn always ruffling, stroking, braiding, scratching each others scalps... kaito also likes to nuzzle into rantaro's shoulder and rub their noses together.

they bake together <3 <3 rantaro's a little embarrassed the first time but they just have so much fun. kaito flicking flour at him and singing while he whisks. they sit on the floor and trade stories while their cookies are baking.

huge storytelling couple these two are btw. rantaro has that really engaging storytelling style where you just genuinely get so wrapped up in what he's saying and kaito thinks he's SO FUCKING AWESOME. meanwhile rantaro hugely enjoys kaito's stories, he thinks they're so fun and exciting. rantaro's official stance on them is "so what if they're not real? i believe them anyway" and kaito always grins about it later hehe.

these two never fight. they just get along so well. the closest they get is chafing over each others' low self esteem, and even then they resolve conflicts rlly fast. its just that they balance each other out well. rantaro always nipping kaito's silent insecurities in the bud while kaito refuses to let rantaro isolate himself.

i want these two to have kids together... i think kaito would be such a good parent with his mix of blunt honesty and tactful compassion... and ofc rantaro... augh. i just want him to be able to build his own family is that so wronggggg.

sillier au note but vampire rantaro x werewolf kaito is so fun. rantaro gets endless sippies from the immortal wolf and kaito's like a big puppy. he can play as rough as he wants with rantaro since he is also immune to damage from anything other than like... crosses LMAO.

they COULD both be nonbinary. if i wanted. and they like 2 wear pretty clothing together. but they also both like suits! kaito can't tie a tie so rantaro's always doing it up for him. and he gives him a little kiss at the end for staying still.

they're both pretty needy abt touch. kaito will flop over into rantaro's lap and demand attention. rantaro sometimes leans his head over for rantaro to pet him. they are HUGE pda bastards.

i always imagine them as that one functional overaffectionate couple. i actually love them as the bg ship in fics because they'll just be there functioning as a unit, double trouble great at communication advice and comfort. they WILL hardcore support u and they will be so good at it. hehe.
