i think this is genuinely one of the greatest appeals of disney and universal. other theme parks have good rides, and the lines are way better, but damn did those two master the art of making you properly feel like your something else.

like, the plants are glowing and the rocks all look like their glistening, even when their dry to the touch. with very careful wiring and some hanging moss, it truly looks like those islands are floating, and in a way they are. you pass a cave painting etched into the side of a doorway and it feels like the place has a history to it. in a way it does, someone put it there for you to find afterall. you can see where the woven and grown meets the industrial metal, but more than that you can see the rust and moss and vines of a planet where nature is fighting back.

or maybe you've walked through an archway and suddenly the whole world is scaled for someone much, much bigger than you, and if you'd like you can sit on a giant yoyo or lean against a deck of cards. the tinker toys are taller than you are.

or maybe it walking into diagon ally for the first time (separating the author for a sec, pretend you are a hyperfixated kid who's never been on twitter (which i was)) and every shop window, even the ones you can't enter, are brimming with detail and movement. you can hear a ghost echoing through the girls bathroom, and at the end of the road, balanced carefully on a wobbly bank that doesn't look like it should be standing, is a dragon. it's life-like, you might think, then as your appreciating it it *breathes fire*. every shelf is full of bottle or trinkets or old books or cages of bizarre plants and animals that don't exist. the streets are cobble stone and vendors call out to you. even the people are in robes (all the staff and a chunk of the guests) and it just feels like, for a moment, magic is real.

and i know as cooperations disney isn't good. i'm not ignoring that, and i know childhood memories are rose colored, but i will also always be awed at how much heart and effort went into those parks. not from the cooperation, but from the love and care the artists behind the attractions put in anyway. it's the hidden mikey's and the careful brush strokes and the brilliant engineering and the in character staff and all the little details everyone who was part of making disney put in. like maybe that's the real magic: the human ability to wonder and to love.

I hate the idea that because people can change, that means that survivors of abuse must lower their guard or forgive the person/people as though their old self has died and thus is incapable of bringing others pain, or that somebody is foolish for being traumatized by abuse because "people can change!".

Yes, statistically-speaking, anybody can change. Yes, maybe even an abuser can change. More often, that's not reality. Oftentimes, their abuse might be rewarded in some way, further solidifying that behaviour and the thoughts that led up to them deciding that they had the right to treat another that way.

Maybe you're a survivor, and your abuser seems to have changed. You might feel guilty that you're "holding on too long" to a person who isn't there. That doesn't mean that you have to let your guard down around them or permit them to be in your life.

recently thinking about the concept of a new npc/semi-cryptid healer character: a little (REALLY little) old lady who rides around on a giant animal (boar or something) whose....family(??) has a long history of healing talents through accupuncture, herbal remedies, pressure points, chiropractic things, etc.

the family line/line of practice has a history of very long life BECAUSE of the healing practices, so this little old lady is maybe...150? 170? years old??? shed be the healer the guild goes to, since her remedies are BETTER than mochis magic AND limes tech junk, she can help any one of them without problem

but the odd thing about her is that shes NOT a witch, weirdly. her healing is 100% natural, which means it works on those with high magic res, since it has nothing to do with magic.

i also think the family history would have this weird relationship with witches, where theyre willing to heal them (for a price of course), but they absolutely REFUSE to give their secrets to any witch. "You'll just make it better and put us out of a job." they always say, so even mochi doesnt know what the hell is in that soup shes eating, all she knows is that its capable of instantly restoring 90% of her magic (5 day cooldown before she can drink it again though, lest she die)

Headcanons for ROTTMNTxKHR Flame Types

(Because my obsession with crossovers cannot be contained)

So first off: Leo's GOTTA be a sky. He is The Leader no matter how much he may deny it or wish otherwise. He has be a sky. That said, I do think he has a strong Rain secondary (there are some STRONG Yamamoto vibes right there) and that's reflected in his easy going nature and projected positiveness, but Sky flames are definitely his primary. I think he probably pushes them down though, unconsciously preferring the ease of his rain flames over the responsibility of his sky flames, so while they're his primary he'd likely have a difficult time tapping into them.

(Ironically, I think other iterations of Leo would be more likely to have the reverse problem, easily tapping into their Sky flames but having trouble with the easy-going nature of their rain abilities. Biggest issue here is the utter weirdness of them having an ability that is Not Their Color.)

Donnie's another mix with a Lightning-Cloud combo. Not sure which one is stronger but I'm leaning towards the Cloud end of things (even his mystic abilities work for this, since they tie in well with a cloud's propagation abilities!) but I think he's got enough Mad Scientist Obsession to also have a fair bit of Lightning flames too.

Mikey I think would be primarily a Sun user. His aggressively perky personality combined with his tendency to burn people (figuratively and literally) who get on his bad side just really fits. That said, with his power level he could actually have some sky flames as a secondary, which shows in how easily he can befriend and charm others (and the big fucking tear he made in time in space because sky flames are ridiculous like that). I'm still kind of debating this though, so he might end up being solely a Sun user.

Raph is a Storm user. He smashes, it smashes, he has anxiety, a heck of a lot of storm users also have anxiety- it fits! and it's even his color so 10/10 flame match right there no notes.

Splinter is an inverted-Cloud primary with a Sky secondary. I mean, the guy's literally just Skull for action movies except more willing to fight people. He also seems a lot more interested in long-lasting bonds (his attempted engagement, his kids) which is where part of the Sky flames come in (the other part is that I think they're just hereditary in the Hamato line).

April O'Neil is solely a Lightning user (which is another pro for Cloud-primary Donnie and explains why they get along so well). Her spunky attitude, green theming, and tendency to flit from one job to another (by no will of her own, but still) are all good signs of this. She could also have a bit of sky flames, but they wouldn't have originally been hers: They first belonged to (drumroll please)...

Hamato Karai! Who is 1000% a sky. Girl is the Skyiest Sky to ever Sky. Born leader absolutely filled to the brim with acceptance. Does not give a singular shit if her grandkids are weird mutant turtles and her one-generation-earlier-grandson is a washed up former actor who's also a mutant rat, she is just thrilled that they're alive at all!

Finally, if you're wondering who the Mist is: It's Draxum. Because Mists always get the villain arcs. He's only Mikey's mist though and that's why Leo still fucking hates him. If Leo ever DOES get a mist it's probably going to be Frida (Big Mama's Assistant & one of their two long-lost sisters) or like. idk Heuso. Not Draxum though.
