@thedl2912 It's been years ago (literally) since you sent this prompt. I hope you're still interested to read what I've written and it is an ask of apologises đ„Č MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Rate/Warnings: SFW, holidays with family, celebration, boys with their crushes
Let's be honest: theyâd cobble together a âtreeâ out of random sewer junk, decorate it with makeshift ornaments, and exchange gifts they made themselves. Splinter told them stories of Japanese winter traditions.
They embraced Christmas movies and made it a tradition to have a pizza feast while exchanging small but thoughtful gifts. As adults, the brothers celebrate with a mix of their old traditions and new ones involving friends.
The lair is decked out with real decorations (thanks to April!), and they exchange gifts in a Secret Santa style to make it fair for everyone. No one is left from their family celebration!
Leonardo
As the oldest, Leo took it upon himself to make Christmas feel special for everyone, even when resources were scarce. Heâd create small paper ornaments for their "tree" (usually a pile of junk) and try to teach his brothers Christmas songs. His wish list was practical even as a kidâbooks, training equipment, or a sturdy toy sword;
He tried to uphold family traditions while dealing with his teenage angst. He secretly saved up to give meaningful gifts to his brothers, such as repairing Donnieâs gadgets or crafting a new weapon for Raph. His wish list expanded to include things like martial arts manuals, music that helped him focus, or items that symbolized his leadership (like a notebook or a decorative katana stand);
Leo organizes the festivities, ensuring everyone gets time to celebrate together. With his crush (you), in the mix, heâs more mindful of personal touches in gifts. Heâd give you a thoughtful book, or and a beautiful handcrafted ornament. BUT of course, after the family celebration, he would take you to the Empire State Building to watch the sunrise;
For him, the most beautiful view is you;
His wish lis? The leader would likely include items related to meditation, strategy games, or maybe a simple but heartfelt gift from someone special;
Raphael
Oh, boy. His grumpy face wouldn't help;
"Why is Raph mad?" Casey asked to Mikey, both eating a plate of pizza slice and turkey on the other side of the main space while watching the red-clad turtle;
"Mad? That's his every-day face." Mikey answered naturally;
Baby Raph had a love-hate relationship with Christmas as a kid. Heâd grumble about the lack of gifts but secretly made handmade "weapons" for his brothers out of scrap materials. His wish list was all about actionânunchucks, toy weapons, or something adventurous like a kite (even if it wouldnât fly in the sewers).
As he grows up, our Raph leaned into the "too cool for Christmas" vibe but secretly loved the holiday. Heâd participate in his brothersâ antics, like decorating or gift exchanges, while acting indifferent. His gifts were usually practical or funnyâhe mightâve given Donnie extra screws for his inventions or Mikey a gag gift. Wish list at older age? Leaned toward punching bags, workout gear, or rock band merch.
As an adult, he is still rough around the edges but shows more appreciation for the holiday. Heâs likely to make something personal for his friends, like a DIY repair kit for Caseyâs gear or a leather bracelet for his crush. Fitness-related items, cool motorcycle accessories, or something handmade by his loved ones.
You here? PERFECT. He might have an angry face, but it doesn't make you step away. And that blush on his big cheeks when you give him simples touches (HEHEHEHEHSJWISNSKSNSJDK) YOU LOVE THAT. Big teddy bear on ACTION;
Michelangelo
Everybody knows that Mikey is the most excited about Christmas, treating it as an excuse to have fun and spread cheer. He made lopsided decorations out of junk and insisted on singing carols, no matter how off-key.
He doesn't care about his age. Give this boy toys, comic books, art supplies, new flying skateboards, an update for his knuchakos (have no idea how to write his japanese weapon correctly) but, mainly among all of it, PIZZAS. BOXES OF PIZZAS. Anything what can make him feel GREAT! MIKEY happy, family happy!
Ngl Mikey was the one who turned Christmas into a party, convincing his brothers to play games, watch movies, and eat pizza. The family celebration wasn't that exciting before his happiness change everthing. He gave hilarious, heartfelt gifts like drawing portraits of his family or prank items for Raph. He ensures Christmas is a joyful celebration for everyone. He bakes cookies, organizes games, and makes handmade gifts like a scrapbook for April or a painted helmet for Casey. For his crush, he might craft a whimsical piece of art (of himself or of his crush. Maybe both together ;3). He is THE own Michelangelo reencarned!
Want a nice celebration? Call Mikey, the party maker! The only who can bring happiness to reallity!
"All I want for Christmas iiisss... youuuu" He sings, pointing at you.
You chuckled.
*The song beat starts*
The orange-clad turtle kept on: "I don't want a lot for Christmas. There ir one just thing I need-And Iiiiiiii"
"Don't care about the presents underneath Christmas tree. I don't need to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace (ah)"
You two dance a lot, soon Leo, April, Donnie, Casey and Vernon join.
"Why don't you join them, my son?" Master Splinter asks softly, looking up at Raphael.
He crossed his arms over his big chest. "Don' know. No mood."
Splinter only lifts an eyebrow
Raph sighs. "Okay. But ya will join too."
Splinter smiles.
Donatello
Your beloved nerd would have been fascinated by the lights and mechanics of Christmas. He spent most of his time trying to engineer blinking lights or tiny motors for ornaments (by Mikey's ideas). He would search for information about this special celebration date and tell every single of them to you.
Of course you are interested!
His wish list, since we was a boy, was full of tech: batteries, screwdrivers, or wires to tinker with. Tech guy, tech stuff! Oh, boy... He does love it!
As a teen, Donnie improved his skills becaming the familyâs Christmas tech guru, rigging up makeshift string lights and mini projects to wow everyone. He loved gifting his brothers functional gadgets or tech-enhanced weapons. His wish list was predictableâparts for his inventions, rare tech manuals, or a new soldering iron.
He still brings the tech magic to Christmas. He might build a personalized gadget for April, a hockey puck tracker for Casey, or a thoughtful, techy gift for his crush. His wish list is the nerdiest of them all: microchips, rare circuit boards, or a subscription to a science magazine.
"Did you know that the red suit Santa Claus wears today has its origins in the work of several artists, including: Thomas Nast, Haddon Sundblom-"
You grinned "Clement Clarke Moore and Saint Nicholas Myra. But there are a few others, right?"
"Yeah! Like Norman Rockwell and J.C. Leyendecker. Also, did you know that before Coca-Cola's advertisements, Santa was depicted in a variety of ways, including as a gnome or in different colored suits?"

Edward Teach: The Star.
Adapted from the traditional Ride-Waite-Smith tarot, this version of the Star shows Ed kneeling down serenely by the spring of life, bare to the world, ready to heal after tumultuous events.
Stede as the Sun to follow, Izzy as the Moon can be found here.
Longer exploration of the card's symbolism under the cut.
***
The Star: Hope, openness, especially after a crisis. Renewal, healing, restoration.
Rachel Pollack writes: "This is the calm after a great change, whether it comes after a drastic planetary shift or a personal upheaval. There are still difficult times ahead, but the Star tells us to trust."
In the card Ed is depicted with a short, growing beard. Multiple personal upheavals and great changes have already happened, and he is settling into a new reality. Who is he when he is stripped from titles, uniforms and roles? In the space of the Star, he has enough trust to try and find out.
Pollack continues: "In Star, we find our inner strength and belief. The Star teaches us to accept whatever it is, to drop all our shields, to believe. The water poured out signifies healing, emotional and physical."
Ed as the Star is learning to shine his own light after witnessing Stede shine as the Sun. Trust and belief don't come easy, but as the Star he can be vulnerable enough to try again. The water flows from an infinite source, letting the emotions come and go.
Even though the Star opens up towards a bright future, Ed carries his history with him. His tattoos, pictures from other tarot cards, tell about his past:
Chest: Three of Swords, the infamous card of heartbreak. "Trust no one."
Left side thigh: the face of the Devil from the Devil card. One of the largest tattoos he has, projecting his self-image. "I'm the devil."
Right side thigh: Lobster from the Moon card, a beast that lurks under the surface, in the unconscious. "I'm the Kraken."
Right side: wolf from the Moon card. In my depiction of the Moon, Izzy stands for the wolf. Here the loyal wolf is cast to the side, left howling after the broken heart.
Belly: Ram from the throne of the Emperor, a symbol of masculine power. The placement on the lower belly suggest a trans reading of the character.
Chest, around the heart: birds from Ace of Cups, suggesting new beginnings even for a broken heart.
With his past carved to his skin, Ed is kneeling at the edge of land. One of his feet is planted firmly on the ground while the other graces the water. In Tarot, earth is often connected to the material, such as the body, and the conscious mind. Water is the element of emotions and the subconscious. At the edge of the water, Ed is in balance, grounded both in his body and in his emotions, the conscious and the subconscious. The water he pours rejuvenates them both.
TL;DR: After great personal upheavals, Ed as the Star is ready to heal and trust. He carries his past with him, but is ready to shine his own light and have faith in himself and for the future. He is vulnerable and at peace, and he is connected both to the ground and the water, nourishing them both with the water he pours.

I feel like youâll appreciate this flavor of feral brain rot as a true delicacy.
Ghostly Courting 101
1.) When you have someone you like, you politely sneak into their haunt and leave a gift that hints at your identity. If theyâre interested, theyâll start hunting for you. If not, itâll be removed without the other party feeling any societal pressure.
2.) For ghosts who died a violent or wrongful death, one of the most meaningful things you can do is avenge them. Attack their murderer, haunt their negligent doctor, etc. Itâs not guaranteed to win their affection, but itâs a hell of a display.
Now, per the laws of unintended consequences, Danny finds Red Hood rearranging his freezer.
Itâs 3:00 AM. He just wanted some water. Why is Gothamâs favorite son trying to leave him a fuck off huge casserole?
âAre you trying to propose or something?â Danny asks the liminal.
âMaybe???â
âGhost weird or fruitloop weird?â Danny snatches his boo-berry ice cream and starts digging for a spoon.
Red Hood takes off his helmet to make sure Danny can see the Eyebrow of Judgment.
âFruitloop then,â he says between bites. âWe havenât even sparred, and I sure as shit didnât avenge you or anything.â
Oh. Oh no.
âHood, why are you blushing?â
He couldnât make out much from the outraged sputtering, but Danny nearly shat his fucking core out when it clicked.
âIs this about Joker???â
Danny was gonna take the stuttering as a yes.
Cool, cool, cool. He was calm. He was so fucking normal, it was fine, it was fine, it wasâ
Ancients take him, Danny beat the shit out of this guyâs murderer or something. He basically did a fucking flash mob proposal!
âWhy the fuck am I even here?!â Red Hood screamed.
And the other guyâs fucking clueless!
I see, I see.
1: Which casserole. This is important. What casserole could the hindbrain of Jason Peter Todd's ghost instincts think is marriage material?? Is this like a comfort food can-of-cream-of-mushroom based casserole dish or like one of those newfangled sushi bake type things?? What did Jason whip out to prove he's marriage material??
2: What does JASON think is going on?? Did he hunt Danny down?? Did he just wake up in a stranger's apartment with a casserole in his hand?? Did he go to the grocery store with a list in mind or did he get home and realize he (for some reason) had every ingredient to make tuna casserole??
3: Wait. So does this mean that Jason thinks that casseroles are a good enough hint at his identity??? Does some part of Jason think that his most essential and core part of his identity is his tendency towards caretaking?? YOâ
4: It's in a vintage pyrex. Look me in the eyes. This is not just Pyrex it's gotta be the old style pyrex that doesn't shatter in the oven without a pan underneath it. I am a connoisseur of white people culture and this is deeply important to me. It could even be one of the patterned ones. This is part of the gesture.
5: Danny is emotionally moved and it sucks considering that this was a complete accident
6: Jason is emotionally moved and has no idea what the fuck is going on. He wakes up at his safehouse one morning with bridal magazines in his hands which he apparently bought himself?? He's going insane. Is he cursed?? Did that twink who kicked the Joker's ass curse him??????? Curse him into...matrimony???????????????????
#dp x dc#death something. what's their ship name.#double death(tm)#dpxdc#dcu crossover#faer winds#the white people culture is intricate i just know it đ#dcxdp#dead on main

Hopeless romantic: Soft/Hard Hyunjin Thoughts
-đ©”
Inspired while listening to âHey Youâ by Hyunjinđ„ș literally one of my favorite songs
He really just loves you. Youâre quite literally all he thinks about. He finds such happiness in just being near you. Needs to be touching you in some sort of way. Holding hands, touching your thigh, holding you by the waist. Anything. He gives you the sweetest most loving kisses. Theyâre passionate, intimate the way he places his hand on your cheek rubbing his thumb over it.
He loves to sweet talk you constantly. Always gives you so much reassurance. âYouâre the love of my lifeâ âYou look so perfect babyâ âIâm so lucky to have an amazing partner like youâ
Gives you really meaningful gifts, and probably has a list about your likes or stuff you want so he can surprise you. Definitely paints beautiful pictures for you and just melts at how excited you constantly get about them. The praise you give him has him on cloud 9 constantly.
Plans such good dates too. Heâs fine with staying home in comfy clothes just ordering take out and watching movies. Heâs also fine with taking you to a stunning botanical garden for a picnic. Like I said before youâre really all he thinks about.
Smut below the line
The way he treats you in bed is also just so loving? The way he just wants to hold you close as he fucks you. Arms wrapped around you kissing you passionately. He loves any position he can stare into your gorgeous eyes.
Makes sure he gets you off every time, ïżŒ memorizes the faces you make as if heâs never gonna see them again. Loves hearing you tell him how well heâs doing.
This man would definitely do the whole rose peddles leading to your room. Would also buy you cute outfits he wants to see you in only for him to gush over how good you look in them. âYouâre so stunning, my partner is so good looking and only I can see them.â
The after care with him is full of lots of âyou did so wellâ and âyou sure youâre ok my love?â Heâs always concerned poor baby. Will hold you close kissing you softly as he runs his fingers across your body.

Right again âą Tom Riddle x f!reader
Requested: No
Pairing: Tom Riddle x f!reader (+ SPOILER x f!reader)
Summary: Tom, who always thought relationships were meaningless, changed his mind when he met y/n. He plans on telling her how he feels, however, it doesn't go as planned, and he finds himself to be right - again.
Word count: 1.1K
Warnings: Fluff; angst; English is not my first language.
A/N: It wasn't supposed to be this long lmao. I will write the same plot with Mattheo, Lorenzo and Theo in the future - hopefully with a better title lol. PLEASE PLEASE DON'T LET THIS FLOP OR YOU WON'T SEE ME ON HERE AGAIN LOL. Comments and feedback are always appreciated. Sorry for the typos. Hope you enjoy it! xx
Tag list: @helendeath @im-jesus @wolfyychan @blocked-zombieartist
Tom Riddle was in his dorm, one of the only places in Hogwarts where he could be by himself, and where he could be doing the things he enjoyed the most - studying and reading, both in silence. But, despite being currently sitting on his desk - always perfectly arranged -, he was not currently reading a book or studying. Instead, he was doing something he never thought he would do and was feeling something he never thought he would feel: thinking about a girl, and being nervous about a girl.Â
Contrary to Mattheo and his friends, Tom has never cared for relationships - he could barely bear being around Mattheoâs friends if serious, meaningful discussions or activities werenât involved. Sure, he cared for Mattheo, more than he cared to admit, because they were of the same blood. And for Tom, blood was one of the things that mattered the most, alongside loyalty, knowledge and influence.Â
And y/n.Â
Tom had always thought Mattheo was the only person he could ever care for - after all, they needed to have some sort of loyalty towards each other if they wanted to have a chance to fight their father - but, just like he was surprised to learn he did not want to follow his father in his quest for tyranny, Tom was surprised to find himself caring for y/n.Â
Just like he had never cared for friendship, Tom had never cared for love. He did not think it was a weakness as his father did, but he did think it was not as important as people made it out to be. And, also, why care for love when something terrible, something that would likely cost lives was being prepared?Â
But then again, y/n challenged that idea. Despite being in the same house and the same year, it took Tom several years to properly notice her. He knew she was one of Mattheoâs close friends outside of his usual group, and that gave them occasions to spend time together. Strangely, Tom had first found her company more tolerable than the others - she seemed to understand his will for silence, deep conversations and his interests, seemed to have the same thirst for knowledge. She was kind as well, having what people called âa heart of goldâ, always ready to help anybody in need. She was also warm and funny, two things she shared with Mattheo, and it usually didnât take people enough to want to be her friend. Tom had considered y/n the closest thing he had to a friend, and he thought he would stay that way until, one day, he saw her and Mattheo sitting closer to each other than usual, and he felt something strange, something he didnât expect to feel, and something he struggled to understand - jealousy. He didnât think it was that at first, but it became obvious it indeed was jealousy when he found himself wishing that he was the one sitting next to her, and not Mattheo.Â
From that moment, he kept thinking about y/n in ways he had never done before - how beautiful she was, how he loved her smile, how he wanted to hold her hand, to smell her addictive perfume, to be the person who mattered most to her⊠how he wanted to hold and kiss her. He had considered those thoughts as foolish at first and tried to not have them, but everytime he was with y/n, they came back running, and he sometimes had to restrain himself from sitting closer to her just to smell her perfume when they were in class, or to hold her hand when they were studying in the library. He didnât have anybody to ask questions to - Mattheo would laugh at him - so, like he always did, Tom gave himself the answer: it was love. At first, he thought it was only temporary and it didnât even cross his mind to tell her about it, but he was forced to admit that, instead of disappearing, those feelings became stronger with each day passing. The idea displeased him, and he tried to avoid y/n so these feelings would go away, but it was in vain, and only made him miss y/n - and made him love her more. But one day, as he was sitting on his desk busy thinking about her instead of studying, the idea of just telling her how he felt seemed right. Of course, the idea of rejection secretly terrified him, but he would accept simply being her friend. y/n deserved a loyal, sincere friend and that is what Tom was. All she had to do was give him a chance he could be the boyfriend - the word seemed so meaningless compared to what he felt - she deserved, a boyfriend who would be loyal, caring, sincere, and who would put her and her needs and safety first. Â
Thus, he got her favorite flowers, and, having thought about what to say to her for hours, decided to go and ask her to have a moment of her time. And now the time had come. He grabbed the bouquet, and, trying to pull himself together, left his dorm. At that hour, y/n should be in the common room. With a bit of luck, she would be alone. Tom headed for the common room, which was nearly empty except for two first years laughing. He started looking for y/n, and his heart, which had started to beat faster with nervosity and hope, almost broke.Â
y/n was indeed here, standing in a corner of the room - kissing Mattheo, who had a hand on her waist and the other in her hair. He broke the kiss, looked at her in a way Tom had never seen him and y/n had a smile before Mattheo pressed his lips on hers like he couldnât help it.Â
Tom took a step back, and the only thing that stopped him from dropping the bouquet was the noise he knew it would make. He turned around and quickly yet silently went back to his dorm - where the flowers finally met the ground. His back against the door, he almost wanted to laugh now. How could he have been so foolish? It should have been obvious to him from the start that y/n, warm and kind y/n, would prefere Mattheo, Mattheo would everybody loved or at least fond of, who had no problems making friends and be with people, Mattheo who had never been anything like their father. Mattheo, who people didnât intimidate or rightfully found cold and strange.Â
Youâve won, brother.Â
As always, Tom Riddle found he had been right. Love was meaningless, and he should never have cared for it - should have never cared for her - in the first place.Â
He was right, but for the first time in his life, he wished he wasnât.

on the one hand I do understand where people are coming from when they respond to The White American Desire For Authentic Culture by going "you already have a culture" and pointing out that this desire often has reactionary undertones
that being said, I think it's largely sidestepping the actual issue, which is that American culture fucking blows chunks. American culture is strip malls and military worship and the elevation of mass-market pablum to Bold Artistic Statements.
and subculture is only partially an escape from this, because most subcultures exist within the same constraints of American culture as a whole; they are captured and redefined by capital on such a frequent basis that it often feels impossible to hold onto them in any meaningful way.
moreover, even the parts of American culture that aren't complete garbage are more or less inextricable from the colonial, imperialist, and racially-stratified history of the country. like, I think of that post that went around a while ago talking about "America sucks but has some good parts," and one of the things it listed was national parks, and people (rightfully!) pointed out that the national park system is fundamentally flawed and tends to shit on indigenous nations by design.
the only thing I can think of that's even sort of an exception is pop culture - jazz and rock music, superhero comics, Hollywood. and all of those are, again, captured and defined by capital, and in one way or another have historically been built on screwing over the artist.
so we come to a position, one way or another, where a lot of people say something like: "I'm alienated. I'm surrounded by traditions and institutions I think are shit; I have no way to meaningfully undermine them, and I can't escape them without effectively destroying my life. the culture I was born into is a gravestone on top of another gravestone, lifeless and miserable, and people are constantly shouting that I should be grateful because it's The Greatest Country In The World."
at that point, one seeks an escape, and I think there are three major routes here.
one is to become a weird lib obsessed with the Real Soul Of America. America is really about the good parts, not the bad parts which outnumber them and which they are built upon.
another is to fixate on the Exotic, for lack of a better word. cultures which you do not have an obvious "connection" to, but which fascinate you or appeal to you. obviously this can be pretty fucking fraught, though I would argue that taking an interest in other cultures is a good thing if you aren't shitty about it. (That's its own conversation.)
the third is to fixate on the culture(s) you feel you "ought to have" had, that which was sacrificed on the altar of whiteness by grandparents or great-grandparents who, frankly, had different concerns. to look at a culture that may still be defined in many ways by cruelty and stratification - the way I would argue most human civilization has been - but that seems to have had something else going on, at least. a culture that may not have been recognizable 500 years ago, but at least it existed.
again, none of these impulses is beyond criticism, and I think it would be naive to say that the last one can't have reactionary undertones. I also doubt these impulses are unique to the USA! alienation is extremely common in today's world, and it's not as though the USA is the only settler state in existence.
what I am saying is more that I think the conditions that lead to these fixations are worth paying attention to, and that dismissing them with "you already have a culture" kind of misses the point in favor of getting in a zinger. people wouldn't want a different culture if they were happy with the one they had. like so many other things, people want one that Doesn't Completely Suck. failing that, they'd probably like to not be defined by any culture at all - but that, tragically, is just as impossible.
#related to the post i just rb'd obviously#idk. i don't know how Developed these thoughts are but they're bouncing around in my brain

you belong with me master list (previous parts can be found here)
----------------------------------------------------------
(Direct continuation of part 1)
After looking at the photo strips for a few more moments, you walked back out of the closet and sat down on his bed, your eyes looking around his room as you tried to think of what you could do now.Â
While sitting there you noticed some things about his room that you hadnât before, like how he hung up the star map you got him for his birthday up next to the picture of the two of you and his parents after the national championship game. You stared at the photo a little more carefully, realizing how you all looked so much like a family even back then and how much you and Joe looked like a couple in the photo even though you weren't.
âMissed all the signs,â you giggled to yourself as you then looked over at his TV table. Various small LEGO structures, a few books about space and physics, and some more photos were placed on the table. There were photos of him and his friends, some pictures from when he was a kid, and a few photos from the past few years which included you. His room perfectly represented who he was inside as it was filled with meaningful pictures, nerdy little knick-knacks, and everything close to his heart.Â
On the outside, Joe appeared stoic, hard-headed, and confident. On the inside, he was a full softie and the most adorable person on the planet and you were lucky enough to get to see this side of him which not many people did since he kept that part away from the world. You also got to see a side of him that was specifically reserved for you. The intimate side of him; his lover-boy personality, his unparalleled sexiness, and the part of him that made you weak in the knees.
âHis duality is insane,â you whispered to yourself as you got up from the bed and walked out of his room. You made your way down the hall towards the stairs before backtracking when you passed his office.
You walked inside, giggling as you were met with a shelf filled with more LEGO structures including the one you got him for his birthday. âSuch a softie,â you smiled to yourself as you walked behind his desk chair, taking in everything in the room. You never really came into his office so this was engaging for you. You never really explored his house now that you thought about it. You usually just stayed wherever he was since the majority of the time you were here in the past was when you were just friends and had no reason to venture around the house.Â
You looked down at the desk and saw his computer, his calendar, a silly doodle bob pen holder, a Bengals-themed Newtonâs cradle, and then a framed recent photo of the two of you.
You tilted your head as you picked up the frame, examining the photo that you remembered him taking just a few weeks ago.Â
Flashback to New Yearâs EveÂ
You were sitting on the couch in Joeâs backyard, the warmth of the fire pit in front of you heating you up as you sat cross-legged in your champagne-colored strapless skin-tight dress, waiting for Joe to come back with your drinks. You glanced up at the TV that was mounted above the Patio Bar where Joe was pouring you both a glass of Blanc de Blancs, watching the live view from Times Square as the ball drop was commencing momentarily. Your eyes then dropped down to Joe, who looked incredibly gorgeous wearing a cream long-sleeved knit polo sweater while topping off your drinks. He placed the bottle down and looked up, his eyes meeting yours which sent chills down your body.Â
He grabbed both the flutes and walked over to you, âYouâre staring,â he said with a cocky smile as he placed them down on the side table and sat down next to you.
âItâs for a good reason,â you bit your lip as you gave him a slow once over. âYou look amazing,â.Â
âI know a girl with good taste,â he shrugged as he stretched out his arm behind you and brought you in closer.Â
âYou sure do,â you smiled as you laid your head against his shoulder after kissing his cheek.
âHow much time do we have before the ball drop?â he asked as he gently ran his thumb across your shoulder.
âHmm, about 15 minutes,â you said after you looked back at the TV. âI still canât believe you didnât invite anyone else over to watch,â you giggled.Â
âWhy invite more people over when just you is enough?â he asked, a blush creeping up on your face as a result of his words.Â
âI appreciate the lovey-doveyness from you but Iâm sure your parents and family members are pretty confused as to why you bailed from the family party and didnât initially offer to have them over at your place like you usually do. They probably think youâre spending New Year alone since they donât know about us yet,â you said as you looked up at the starry night sky.Â
âI wanted it to be just us tonight,â he said as he joined you by also looking up at the sky.Â
âAny reason in particular?â you say, turning your head to look at him. âYou know I love your family and wouldnât mind celebrating with them, even if it meant having to sneak away for our New Yearâs kiss,â.Â
âItâs our first New Year together as a couple so I wanted it to be special and with 0 distractions. I want to start off the year with the one that means the most to me,â he said, turning his head to face you after he finished talking.Â
âAwww, Joe,â you cooed, giving him a quick peck before tucking your head into his neck.Â
He definitely had made the night pretty special. First, it was treating you to a delicious and impressive dinner he prepared all on his own (with some tips from his chef), then you both decided to make cupcakes together (with a side of karaoke) since you had quite a bit of time before midnight, then it was making a bucket list for the year filled with things you wanted to do together while the cupcakes were in the oven, and after that it was you two sitting on the floor for about an hour building the LEGO rose bouquet set he got you for Christmas (you both really loved your LEGOâs). At about 11:00 you both went out to the backyard and got situated by the fire while watching the New Yearâs special on TV.Â
âWeâve had a pretty wild year havenât we?â he said while letting out a content sigh.Â
âVery wild,â you nodded. âSpecifically the final stretch,â you added, referring to the past month with Joe. âBut itâs been the best year of my life and the next one will be even betterâŠbecause of you,â.
Joe swore his heart exploded for maybe the 100th time when you said that. The fact that he made you feel like this was the greatest feeling in the world. âI love you,â he said before capturing your lips in a sweet kiss. âSo much that itâs not even funny,â he said in between kisses.Â
âThe feeling is mutual,â you smiled against him.Â
âThis yearâs going to be so much fun. I canât wait to do everything on our bucket list,â he softly laughed.Â
âMe too. I think Iâm looking most excited to go camping and road-tripping to California,â.Â
âI still canât believe youâve never been camping,â Joe widened his eyes and laughed.Â
âListen, I donât want to get eaten by a bear or kidnapped by some random man in the woods,â you blinked.
âWhat if that happens to us? I donât think me being with you makes a difference,â.
âYes, it does. The bear will be too blinded by your hotness to eat us and youâll scare the random man away with your big muscles,â you teased while gripping his bicep.Â
âIâll probably book us a cabin,â he nodded after hearing your plan of action if you came across something like that.Â
âNooo,â you groaned like a little child. âI want the traditional camping experience. Tent and everything,â.
âWe can still bring a tent and do that for a night but I think youâd feel more comfortable in a cabin,â he said while moving your hair out of your face. âSleeping in a sleeping bag gets exhausting after the first night anyway. And thereâs more privacy in a cabin so we wonât be at risk of being seen doing certain things,â he whispered in your ear.Â
âCanât stay away, can you?â you giggled at his insatiableness.
âMm, Mm,â he shook his head. âItâs like a drug,â he said as he kissed your cheek, referring to the intimate time between you two. âCanât quit and wonât quit,âÂ
âGood to know. I should probably change up my birth control then since we refuse to do it the way it was taught in high school health class,â you laughed as you looked back at the TV again, feeling Joe laugh beside you as you saw that the time was now 11:53.Â
âOops. 7 minutes to go,â you said as you sat back up and handed Joe his champagne glass while grabbing yours.Â
âTime to make a toast,â he said as he lifted his glass in the air.Â
âOkay,â you giggled as you lifted your glass in the air. âBut what are we toasting to?â.
âTo us,â he smiled. âA toast to us and a new year filled with good vibes, lots of love, countless laughs, and even more moments where I fall even more in love with you than I already am,â.Â
You felt your heart swell while your eyes pooled with tears, none falling through as you blinked them away and spoke up. âAnd I want to toast to the same thing, but also to you,â.
âTo me?â Joe asked, slightly confused.Â
âMhm. To the person who literally turned my world upside down 9 years ago. The person that Iâm lucky enough to call my best friend and my boyfriend. The person that makes me the happiest woman alive and the person that I canât wait to spend every single New Years with from now on. The person that makes my heart smile and sets my soul on fire. The person that is my absolute everything,â you grinned.Â
Joe stayed silent for a few moments as he took in the beautiful words you were saying to him before giving you a small nod and a fervent smile, âIâll toast to that,â. You both moved your flutes closer together, a small clinking noise coming once you finished the toast before downing your champagne in one big gulp.Â
You watched as a drop of champagne slid down Joeâs lip and slowly down to his chin, you quickly leaned over and slid your tongue along his chin to catch the drop, then pressed a kiss to the area after you were done.
âOhhh, so weâre already getting to it?â Joe wiggled his eyebrows.
âNope,â you giggled. âNot yet. Just making sure you didnât get champagne on your clothes,â you said as you looked back at the time and saw that you had 3 minutes left.
Joe looked back as well and then stood up from his seat, extending his hand out to help you up before leading you to the open floor area. âItâs almost time,â he grinned.
âYes, it is,â you laughed as you moved your hair back. âOur first ever New Year's kiss. One for the history books,â.Â
âDamn straight,â Joe said as he abruptly pulled you closer to him by your waist, the sudden movement catching you off guard.Â
âSomeoneâs eager,â you smiled.
âOh, itâs definitely not like I havenât been wishing for this moment every December 31st for the past 9 years,â he rolled his eyes.
âWell, youâre about to have your wish come true in about 60 seconds,â you winked.Â
Joe smiled at you before turning around to see the TV, the camera panning over Times Square and zooming in on all the couples getting ready for their kisses. Then he turned back over to you and saw the pure happiness on your face and the little twinkle in your eye that was even more precious in the lighting of his backyard. He still couldnât quite believe this was real life. He doesnât think heâll ever be able to believe that this is real life as this all felt like a dream that he didnât want to wake up from.Â
Joe took a deep breath before turning a bit more serious, âI love you. And I know I say it to you so often that it may lose its meaning but I really really love you more than anything else in this world and Iâm so lucky and glad that I can do this with you. You make my world complete, youâre the most extraordinary person Iâve ever met, and youâve changed my life for the better,â he quickly said as he gazed into your beautiful eyes.Â
âJoeâŠI-â.
â10!â the countdown on the TV said.Â
You looked into his eyes and felt all of the thoughts in your head disappear. The only thing you could think about was how much you loved him, which was more than enough to fill your empty head.Â
â9!â you heard as you felt his grip on your waist tighten. Â
â8!â you heard as you felt his hot breath against your skin, your arms looping around his neck as you both smiled at each other like two love-struck fools.Â
â7!â you heard as you felt Joe sway you back and forth, a soft laugh coming from your mouth.
â6!â you heard as you moved your hands into his soft hair, twirling the strands around your fingers as you continued to get lost in his eyes.
â5!â you heard as you heard Joe speak up again.Â
âYou are the best thing thatâs ever been mine,â he said.Â
â4!â you heard before you spoke up.Â
âI'm completely, utterly, and madly in love with you,â you whispered.Â
â3!â you heard as you both slowly ghosted your lips over each other, your cold noses nuzzling against each other as you looked down at his pink lips.
â2!â you heard as your breathing picked up while your eyes moved back up to his heated gaze. âYouâre everything,â he said, just loud enough for you to hear.Â
â1!â you heard before you crashed your lips against each other.Â
âHappy New Year!â the TV said, sounds of celebrations echoing through the backyard as fireworks started going off above you.Â
You cupped Joeâs face and pulled him closer as he held you tighter, your lips saying so much to each other just like how your hearts were as they were so incredibly close given you close your chest was to his. Fireworks were going off inside of them, just like the ones that were going off in the sky above you.Â
Your tongues tangled in each other's mouths, the taste of champagne lingering which made the kiss even more intoxicating than it already was. He was kissing you as if he had never kissed you before; the way his big hand gripped your waist and slid down your back was sending heat throughout your cold body, the way his lips molded against yours was almost like they were specifically made for you, and the warm and comfortable feeling you got from him was an irreplaceable feeling you couldnât replicate any way else.Â
After a few more moments of being attached to each otherâs lips, you pulled awayâboth of you a little breathlessâand rested your foreheads against each other, the biggest grins on both your faces.Â
âHappy New Year, Baby,â Joe whispered.
âHappy New Year, Joey,â you blushed.Â
End of flashbackÂ
The photo was a picture of the two of you post-kiss, the fireworks visible in the background as you leaned your head against his cheek and rested your hand on his chest (the hand with the ring) and both of you had the most raw and beautiful smiles on your faces.Â
You put the frame back down before pulling out your phone, clicking on Joeâs contact, and typing up a message.Â
You: saw the photo on your desk.. you move fast ;)
Joe: good photos and even better memories deserve to be shared asap đ€·â i also like having a constant reminder of you when i'm in thereÂ
You: have I told you how much I love you lately? because i realllyyyy do
Joe: maybe a few times but I donât mind hearing it again.. but anyway, how are you doing? even though itâs only been a little over an hour ish since Iâve been goneÂ
You: great! took a nice long shower in your bathroom which by the way, water pressure is to die for. youâll need to get used to me taking hour showers because wow..
Joe: noted lol. whatâre you doing now?Â
You: was about to head downstairs to make something for dinner but your office caught my eye firstÂ
Joe: you arenât naked are youâŠ
You: i was kidding when i said that, well kind of..but im clothed donât worry
Joe: good to hear ;)Â and also donât bother making anything for dinner. i ordered you some food and it should be at the house in a little bitÂ
You let out a soft laugh as you shook your head, Joe was always two steps ahead of you and always made sure you had everything you needed even if he wasnât physically there with you.
Joe: thereâs also a bunch of wine in the wine cellar so pick out your favorite and have at it. just donât get too drunk without meÂ
You: no promisessss. but thanks for dinner đ„°
Joe: of course. im gonna go get dinner from the dining room with the guys so Iâll text you later?
You: okay, i love you <3
Joe: i love you x2
You let out a relaxed breath before slipping your phone back into your pocket, taking one more look around his office before walking out and making your way downstairs again.Â
You find yourself in the wine cellar a few minutes later, your eyes glancing around the room as you are a bit overwhelmed with the amount of wine he has. âFor a man who doesnât drink very often, he sure has a great variety of wine,â you giggled as you looked around for your favorite.Â
You smiled once you found a bottle of Malbec RosĂ©, sliding it out from the hold and exiting the cellar. Once youâre back in the kitchen, you pour yourself a hearty glass of the drink and sit back down on the barstool, sliding around as you think about what you could do now.Â
âHm, I guess I could just walk around more?â you whispered to yourself as you took a sip before sliding off the stool and getting up, the speaker on the counter by the sink catching your eye.
âOo, music would be nice,â you thought while pulling out your phone and connecting your music to the speaker. Once you get that situated, you turn up the volume and start your walk around his house.Â
âI'm no one special, just another wide-eyed girl, Who's desperately in love with youâŠâ you mumble, singing along to the song as you walk past the patio door. You stop and look out from the door, thinking about how this patio would become your patio in a few short weeks. Youâd get to have friends and family over here with Joe. Youâd get to swim out in the pool with him and youâd get to sit by the fire every night in his arms while talking and watching the stars together. You'd get to watch the seasons pass by with him out there, seeing the leaves turn from green to orange and then covered with snow.Â
You smiled while taking another sip of your wine before you continued walking, this time along the couch where you both spent a lot of time together watching various shows and movies and sometimes just talking for hours. You looked at the 2 built-in wall shelves on each side of the mounted TV, both decorated with fake plants, some more photos, and some unique decor pieces that you remember helping him pick out. He always had an interesting taste when it came to art and decorations and the house definitely showed that.
âCanât wait to add my own flair to these things,â you softly chuckled.Â
You continued walking around the house, this time walking past his special display shelf that had a few of his accolades on it. Your eyes went straight to the National Championship trophy, then to his Heisman, then to the few NFL honors awards, and then his AFC championship trophy. There was a large space next to it that was specifically kept empty because he wanted to put his first Lombardi and his Super Bowl ring there. Your eyes slowly welled with tears as you looked at all of his accomplishments, seeing how far he had come since you first met him all those years ago and how youâd been with him through every single one of these things. Your heart swelled once you realized youâd also get to be with him whenever this empty space would be filled with the greatest accomplishment of all.Â
You took another sip of your wine and continued walking around the house, taking note of some empty spaces where you could add something of your own. A few minutes later, you heard the doorbell ring so you checked the camera and saw that it was the delivery person with your dinner.Â
You placed the glass down and got the bags from the door before you walked back into the kitchen and laid everything out on the counter, the first bag was from Chipotle.
âHe knows me too well,â you shook your head as you looked at the bowl which had everything you wanted on it. âHow did he even memorize my order?â.
The second bag was from a local bakery you loved. âHm?â you questioned why there was something from the bakery as you opened up the bag, pulling out a square-shaped box. You flipped the lid open and inside sat a beautiful heart-shaped cake with a white frosting base, tiny red hearts scattered across the surface, and a cursive âi love youâ in the middle all in red frosting.Â
âJoeâŠ,â you giggled as you stuffed your face in your hands and then moved them into your hair. His thoughtfulness knew no bounds and he had a constant need to keep you smiling, and whatever he did always worked.Â
You pulled out your phone again and pulled up his contact, typing up another message to send him.
You: okay im this close to breaking all the rules and sneaking into the hotel and into your roomÂ
Joe: i assume this is about the cake? either that or youâre just horny as hell
You: its most definitely about the cake (maybe a bit of the second thing too). how hard do you think it is to break into the facility and steal the mascotâs costume and then show up to the hotel and get up to your floor without being caught? my idea from a few weeks ago still sounds foolproof đ€·ââïž
Joe: iâd say you probably wouldnât make it past the front desk before getting the cops called on youÂ
You: yeah youâre probably right because they most definitely will think im your stalker or something đ.Â
i just wish i could kiss you right now. youâre the sweetest for this. thank you đ
Joe: you can make it up to me tomorrow morning :)
You: oh i definitely willÂ
You wished you couldâve thanked him in person but there was nothing you could do at the moment to do so. After a few more minutes of texting about tomorrow, you grabbed your dinner, got comfy on the couch, and turned on an episode of The Office. It didnât hit the same without Joe next to you, but it made you feel close to him since you were starting to miss him.Â
âSeparation anxiety is brutal,â you joked, only partly though. Normally you wouldnât be missing him like this but being in the house without him was making it worse than usual.Â
An hour laterÂ
After wrapping up your dinner and eating a slice of the cake, you cleaned everything up downstairs before heading up to the bedroom for the night. Right now you were in his closet as you were trying to find something to spice up your game day look for tomorrow and his jewelry collection was the perfect place to go.Â
Your eyes scanned his impressive jewelry collection, the sparkly diamonds and jewels were as dazzling as a million tiny stars embedded in the night sky. He had quite a few iced-out chains, some big statement pieces, and some simple more tamer pieces.Â
Your eyes stopped once you saw his large â9â iced out chain, a smile creeping up on your face because you remember when he wore it for his Bose photo shoot last year and how sexy he looked with it on, his longer headband hair made him even more desirable. You obviously couldnât say anything then because you were just friends and he had a girlfriend at the time, but now you could say and do whatever you wanted.Â
You picked up the chain from the velvet pad it was resting on, the necklace a little heavier than you expected. âHow the hell does this not break his neck,â you whispered to yourself as you held it up in front of your face. You obviously werenât going to wear this one tomorrow, but lucky for you he had a smaller version of the necklace right next to it.Â
âNow thatâs my kind of thing,â you giggled as you started to place the necklace back down but stopped once you saw one of his hats sitting on the shelf across the closet. A sultry idea popped into your head, one that youâd never thought of for anyone before let alone Joe.Â
âI may not be able to physically thank him for being such a great boyfriend, but I can send him a little something to show my appreciation and give him a treat of his own,â you smirked as you took the necklace over to where the hat was. You put the necklace down and slip your clothes off, then put the hat on your head but backwards just like Joe did, and then put the iced-out â9â chain around your neck. You were standing just in your lacy light orange bra and pantie set, the cold diamond â9â resting right above your cleavage. You slipped off one of the straps of your bra so that more of your breast was visible, grabbed your phone, and walked over to the floor-length mirror. You got down on your knees and sat back, spreading open your legs a little bit to get a good position. You opened up the camera and snapped a few pics of yourself like this, then switched up the poses a little bit to tease him.Â
âHeâs gonna love this,â you giggled to yourself.Â
For the last picture, you took the chain of the necklace and held it between your teeth, the â9â now dangling as you slid the strap of your bra down a little lower, the top of your nipple now in the frame. You snapped a final photo and let go of the necklace which was now starting to hurt your neck. You had never done this for any other guy before so this was new for you, but you were comfortable with it since you knew it was only going to be seen by a guy that absolutely loved you to pieces.Â
If you told yourself 9 years ago that youâd be sitting inside Joeâs closet taking these kinds of photos to send him, youâd slap yourself in the face and call bullshit. But you shouldnât be surprised you were doing this considering how ravenous you two had been around each other since the first time you two had sex about a month ago. It was like another part of you was unlocked by him, a part no other guy could crack open. You two just couldnât stay away from each other.Â
Flashback to the morning after your first timeÂ
Your eyes slowly fluttered open as you felt a pair of warm lips pressing feather-light kisses to your lips. You fully opened your eyes and saw Joe cutely smiling down at you as he was admiring your beautiful face and tucking your hair behind your ear. âMorning beautiful,â he said with a kiss to your forehead, his voice more raspy than usual due to last nightâs activities.Â
âGood morning,â you rasped, your voice also incredibly scratchy given how much you were screaming last night.
âWe sound sooooâŠ,â he began to say.
âFucked out?â you giggled.
âYeah,â he nodded, his cheeks turning a little red. âIt was worth it though. A solid 2 rounds before we crashed,â.
âDid you have fun?â you smiled up at him, internally praying that he enjoyed this as much as you did.
âFun is an understatement. That was the best sex Iâve ever had in my entire life,â he mumbled as he leaned in to kiss you again. You smiled and grabbed his cheek with your hand, moving closer to his head as the kiss slowly became more heated. His hands went under the covers and settled on the bare skin of your lower back, his soft and familiar touch making you want more as he pulled you closer to him. You shrugged the covers off your nude body and slowly hooked your legs around his waist, your lips still attached as you got on top of him.Â
His hands settled on your hips as you continued to share a feverish kiss for a few more moments. Both of your tongues tangled in each other's mouths; your hands were massaging the soft skin of his neck while he was tracing and lightly scratching your back.
âHey, what was that for?â Joe pouted after you abruptly pulled away.
âWant to make it a solid 3 rounds?â you winked, your body still very sore but sizzling with anticipation because of the man underneath you.
Joe looked at you for a few moments, thinking about how lucky he was to be sitting here with you right now, especially like this. You two were sharing such intimate moments with each other and he had never thought that this wouldâve ever happened, but this was reality. âI thought youâd never ask. I cannot get enough of you,â he grinned as he started to scooch up to flip you both over. Â
You placed your hands on both of his shoulders and pushed him back down, âMm, Mm. You did all the work last night. Itâs my turn,â you shook your head, the thing that you were implying making Joeâs heart skip a beat. Since last night was the first time you did this, youâd never been on top of him before and the thought of that happening was making him lose all coolness.
âJust take it easy. I donât want you to hurt yourself and if it's too much we can always stop,â he softly said as he stroked your thigh, just body humming with anticipation just like yours.Â
âI love you,â you said as you leaned down to peck his lips before moving back up.Â
âI love you too,â he smiled as he put his arms behind his head and laid back, his bulging biceps even more prominent this way. He looked so good right now with his messy bedhead, swollen lips, that little purple love bite you left on his neck last night, and his sweet bedroom eyes. It was all making you even more needy for him than youâd ever felt before.Â
You grabbed his growing erection and guided the tip between your drenched folds before slipping it inside, a loud moan leaving your lips at the sudden fullness you were feeling. âOh, fuck,â you whined as you threw your head back, still not fully used to his size.Â
Joe looked up at you and watched as you slid down his length and got comfortably seated. He was trying not to lose his cool but he really really wanted to flip you over and fuck you senseless because of how sexy you looked above him right now, but he knew you wanted to do this so he was letting you do your thing. You rested your palms on his chest as you slowly started to slide up and down his length, each movement sending electric jolts throughout your body as you could feel every single inch of him right now. âJoe,â you moaned as you picked up the pace, your manicured nails digging into his chest.Â
You leaned down and gently bit his thick bicep, a throaty moan leaving his lips after you pressed a kiss to the little bite mark you left. âY/N,â he panted.Â
Joe felt himself getting lost in your touch, his brain getting all foggy as sounds of pleasure started leaving his lips. âFuck, Y/N,â he moaned as he moved his arms from under his head and gripped your waist. Sounds of skin slapping against skin filled the room as you quickened your pace, Joeâs eyes stuck on your perfect breasts that were bouncing in front of him with movement. You felt and looked heavenly on top of him, a feeling heâd never felt before with anyone else filling his mind and body.Â
âBaby, please you feel so good,â Joe whimpered as he dug his head further back into the pillow. âYouâre doing so fucking good,â. Joe was having the absolute time of his life watching you bounce on his cock as sounds of pleasure were leaving your lips like a prayer. The thought of you sharing this intimate experience with him was enough to make him let go right then and there, but the fact that it wasnât a thought and was actually happening right now was what he couldnât believe.Â
âYou like that?â you smirked as you turned his head back to look up at you, the heat in your stomach rising as his hands wandered along your body. You felt him give your breast a gentle squeeze at the same time as you felt him hit a spot inside you he hadnât before.
âO- oh my god,â you whimpered as you fell forward onto him, his hands holding you tightly as he pushed your lips against his in a messy kiss.
âIâm fucking obsessed with you,â Joe mumbled between the kiss, your moans coming out in short gasps as you felt him buck his hips into yours.Â
Every word that came from his mouth set your heart on fire. Every time he touched you, you felt electricity run through your veins. Every time he looked at you with those eyes filled with love and passion, you felt like his soul was hugging yours.Â
Every time you looked at him with the same love and passion, he felt his heart explode. Every time you touched him, he felt like he was in heaven. Every time his name left your lips, he fell more in love with you.Â
âAh, fuck. Joe, youâre s- youâre so..â you whimpered before you went back to the kiss as you rode him into oblivion.
You pulled away and sat up again, this time moving back and forth even faster as he thrusts up into you. âMmph, Joey,â you whimpered as you placed your hands on his, which were gripping your waist. This felt better than either of you couldâve ever imagined, both of you also mentally cursed yourselves out for missing out on this for so long.Â
âIâm close,â Joe groaned, feeling himself hurdle towards his pleasure; the feeling of your warm cushiony walls wrapped around him was the greatest thing heâd ever felt.Â
You nodded, placed your palms back on his chest, and bounced back against him even harder even though your legs started to get tired. Joe started to press kisses along your hands and your arms as you continued to ride him, âYouâre doing so good, baby,â he praised, which sent you closer to your orgasm as the band in your belly was tightening.
âJoe,â you whimpered, your legs starting to burn as you slowed down.Â
âItâs okay, Iâm here,â he said as he gripped your hips and guided you along his thick shaft, taking the weight off of you and giving you some rest. He then moved his hands under your thighs and started snapping his hips up into your soaked core, both of you just moments away from fully letting go. One particular hard thrust stroked your G-spot and had you screaming once again.
âMm..Joe, Iâm gonna.. cum,â you moaned as your chest heaved from the intense pleasure you were feeling in your body.Â
âFuck, me too,â he whimpered as he snapped his hips up into yours again, this time your release washing over you.
âJoe,â you screamed as you felt the band in your belly snap and your walls tighten around him, your body falling forward onto him again. He drapes his arm around your back and pulls you closer as you moan into his ear, the aftermath of your release hitting you like a brick wall.
âFuck, Iâm cumming,â Joe rasped as he felt you move your face to his face, your lips crashing down on him as he released inside of you, the kiss being interrupted by his moans which came out in sharp breaths.Â
A few minutes later, he was holding you so incredibly close to him as both of you spent a few moments catching your breaths and coming down from your intense highs. The only sounds in the room are your steady breaths; the quietness and his warm body are incredibly comforting. You were laying your head against his chest, feeling his hand play with the strands of your hair while you lightly scratched his chest before you heard him speak up.
âYou are a dream that I never want to wake up from,â.
End of flashbackÂ
Then it got worse (was it really a bad thing though?) after the first time you went down on him after you had one too many glasses of wine at lunch with your friends and he looked like a walking greek god when he came over to your place after practice.
Flashback to a few weeks ago
âYou look prettyyy,â you giggled as you stared at Joe who was trying to eat the post-practice salad you made him but couldnât focus on because of how intensely you were staring at him.Â
âAre you okay?â he asked, raising an eyebrow and taking a slow bite of the salad. Â
âIâm greattttt,â you slurred as you leaned back in your chair.Â
âUh-huh,â he nodded. âWhatâs my middle name?â he quizzed you.
You rolled your eyes and laughed, âI said Iâm great, Joseph Lee Burrow. I just had a few glasses of wine earlier at lunch with the girls so Iâm a little tipsy,â.Â
âHow many is a fewâŠ,â he bit his lip as he watched you struggle to remember.
âUhh, no comment,â you grinned at him as you got up from your chair. âBut Iâm 100% sober when I say you look absolutely amazing right now,â you smiled when you walked over to him, pulled his chair out a bit, and then sat down in his lap and pressed your crotch against his. His big hands instinctively settled on your ass as you looped your arms around his neck.
âIâm really sweaty right now,â he nervously cleared his throat.
âI donât care,â you said as you pressed delicate kisses along his face. âYou look, feel, and taste amazing,â you mumbled as you moved down to his neck, licking a stripe along his jawline and tasting the salty sweat on his skin.
âWhatâs gotten into you,â he chuckled as he moved your head back into his view.Â
âAsk the media admin who posted quite a few pictures and videos of you from practice today,â you giggled. âYou looked hot,â.Â
âLooked? Damn, am I not hot right now?â he playfully pouted.Â
âYou know you are,â you said, sending him a heated look. âIâve dreamed about you in this cut-off white shirt quite a few times over the years,â you winked as you traced his chest through the loose shirt that barely covered his chiseled body.
âJesus, you are drunk as hell,â Joe laughed while throwing his head back.Â
âShut up,â you smiled while grabbing his head and pressing your lips against his, the kiss quickly becoming more heated as he began to rock your hips back and forth against his growing erection.Â
âMmph,â you moaned into the kiss as he was grinding you against him, the hardness underneath you sending shivers down your spine.
âI think we should take this to the bedroom,â he mumbled as he started placing open-mouthed kisses along your jawline.
You let out a heavy sigh, âIâd love to but I got my period this morning,â.
âThatâs great,â he grinned as he moved his head back up to yours.
âWhatâŠâ you asked, as you tilted your head out of confusion.
âI mean, that sucks because of cramps and all that annoying period stuff. But thatâs great because it means thereâs no bun in the oven,â he softly laughed. âYet, at least,â he muttered under his breath, just loud enough for him to hear.
âThat is true,â you nodded as you fell forward and wrapped your arms around his neck, his arms wrapping around you in a warm hug. You stuffed your neck into his neck, smelling his natural pheromones from his sweat which combined with the hardness you felt under you was adding to the tension you were feeling right now.Â
âBut that doesnât mean I canât make you feel good,â you whispered in his ear, Joeâs heart stopped when he realized what you were saying.Â
âIâŠ.,â he trailed off, his heart beat picking up again and his palms getting sweaty.Â
You pulled away from the hug and met his eyes, flashing him a sweet smile before speaking up. âIâm serious, Joe. Let me make you feel good,â you said as you traced his arm all the way up to his face.Â
His silence started to worry you and you felt yourself getting nervous again, just like how you did when it was the first time you two did anything intimate. âUnless you donât want to,â you quickly said as you started getting off his lap, but his big hands wrapped around you and pulled you back down.Â
"Itâs not that I donât want to. God, I want to,â he laughed. âItâs justâŠI donât want you to do something if youâre not comfortable with it and wonât enjoy it yourself,â he said as he cupped your cheek and rubbed his thumb against your skin.
You grabbed his hand and pressed a kiss to the inside of his hand, âI want to,â you nodded. âI really want to,â you mumbled as you leaned forward again and crashed your lips against his.Â
After a few minutes of teasing him with your kisses and your touch, you slid off of him and got on your knees in front of his chair. You used your hands and spread his legs open before you looked back up at him, his eyes darkened with lust as he bit his lip.Â
You smirked at him as you leaned forward to pull his shorts and boxers, after which his impressive erection sprang free. You ran your manicured hands along his thick, muscular thighs as you slowly leaned down and wrapped your lips around his shaft.
Joe closed his eyes as he felt you take him deeper and deeper with each bob of your head, âFuck, Y/N,â he whispered. You moved your lips back to the tip, pulling them off with an audible pop as you licked a stripe across his red tip, tasting the bit of pre-cum that was pooling.Â
He let out another low moan once you wrapped your lips around him again and slowly moved down his cock. You started bobbing your head up and down, more sounds of pleasure leaving Joeâs lips as you used your hand to give him a few pumps while you worked your way down.
âMm, Y/N,â he whimpered as you felt his hands in your hair, your eyes navigating up to his eyes which once again were telling you what he was thinking without him actually saying it. You squeezed his thigh in response as you went back to what you were doing, Joeâs hands gently pushing you down further as you moaned against him.
A few minutes later, you moved off his cock and kept eye contact with him while you jerked him off with your hand as you used your other one to wipe the saliva around your lips, a smirk on your lips as you saw his blissful facial expression; the way he was biting his lips, his tired eyes filled with lust and love, and the way his hand was lovingly rubbing your head. You moved back down after a few seconds, teasing the slit with your tongue and licking a stripe down the side before you took him in your mouth again.Â
âF-Fuck,â he moaned once he felt the tip hit the back of your throat. He looked down at you with his tired eyes and couldnât believe that this was really happening. He physically could not get enough of you; not now, not ever. Joe began bucking his hips up a few moments later, the feeling in his belly getting stronger as you got sloppy with your movements. His hand started pushing you down harder, your moans and whimpers being muffled because you had him in your mouth. Tears started coming down your cheeks as he started to thrust into your mouth and when you looked up at him, you knew he was close.Â
âGod damn..youâre so fucking good at this,â he moaned as you massaged his balls using your free hand, Joe just mere moments away from reaching his high.Â
A few more heated moments later, you felt ropes of warm cum shoot down your throat. âY/NâŠâ he moaned while throwing his head back. It really couldnât get better than this for Joe. He was already obsessed with you as a person, but now he was obsessed with you physically.Â
You continued to bob up and down his shaft, making sure to milk every last drop of his orgasm before you released him from your mouth, then swallowing his sweet release as you looked into his heavy eyes.Â
âYou are insane,â he panted as his chest heaved, a thin coating of sweat on both of your skins because of your actions.Â
âI know,â you cockily grinned as you wiped his release off your lips with the back of your fingers before licking them clean.
End of flashbackÂ
After that, it was the two of you going at it in the backseat of his Porsche after a post-practice dinner with some of the guys and their significant others. That compression shirt he had on was sending you into overdrive and the way you were teasing each other the entire time was making it worse.Â
Flashback to the night out with your friendsÂ
You were in dire need of a cold shower right now.Â
You were trying so hard to keep yourself together as you were currently at dinner with Joe and a few of his friends from the team (who at this point were also your friends). But the man sitting next to you was making it incredibly difficult for you to act normal.Â
First, it was the fact that he picked you up after practice and he was just in his skin-tight compression shirt and his workout shorts, which he was still wearing at dinner. He knew this combination always made you feel certain feelings and normally he would change out of these clothes after practice was over, but he was doing this on purpose because he knew you were going to see it. The top highlighted his delicious biceps and hugged his body so tightly that his chiseled figure was on full display; he was mouthwatering and he knew it too.Â
Then, it was the fact that ever since you sat down at the table with your friends for dinner, heâd been sneakily teasing you with little touches and glances that he knew drove you wild. Nobody in the room knew you were dating so it should make sense as to why you were struggling to keep it together. Â
You felt his hand creep up to your thigh, his big hand seductively massaging the skin as you took a bite of your meal while intensely staring at him.Â
âSo, Y/N. How does it feel being Joeâs honorary girlfriend,â Jermaine teased as he took a sip of his water.Â
You flipped your head from Joe to him as you felt your heart stop in your chest. âWhat?â you deadpanned.Â
âBurrow over here canât seem to keep a girl around to save his life,â Tee laughed as he watched Joe roll his eyes.
âCorrection, he canât keep a girl other than Y/N around,â Jaâmarr nodded. âShe been with him since day 1. Why? I have no fucking idea but heâs managed to keep her around somehow,â.
âIt must be because ofâŠ,â Tee teased as he pointed down to his crotch, your eyes widening and cheeks turning red at the embarrassing situation you were in right now.Â
âYou guys are children,â Joe shook his head as he moved his hand to cup your mound through your skirt, your eyes widening again as you flipped your head over to him. Now was not the time to be doing this, not in front of everyone.Â
You grabbed his forearm and scooched his hand back over to his lap before speaking up, âMaybe the reason he canât keep a girl around is because of his bad timing,â you said while shooting daggers at him with your eyes and emphasizing the âbad timingâ part. Â
âUm, ouch?â Joe raised an eyebrow and bumped your leg with his.Â
âDamnnn, even she sees it,â Jermaine laughed. âBut Y/N, you gotta admit. You kinda are the honorary girlfriend at this point. They need to add you to the WAGâs list or something,â.Â
âShe knows she just wonât admit it,â Jaâmarr pointed out. âMust be an ego thing,â.
âOuch?â you said, acting like you were offended by that. You then felt Joeâs foot bump into yours, but not by accident. You looked over at him and saw the smug grin on his face as he continued to rub his foot, then his leg against yours underneath the table in a way that sent shivers throughout your body.Â
âHe wants to play? Letâs play,â you thought to yourself.Â
You cleared your throat before turning back over to face the guys, âYou know, maybe Joe canât keep a girl around because heâs bad in bed?â you boldly said as you moved your hand to his lap, gently grabbing his cock through his shorts which made him jerk up in his seat.Â
âNo way,â Tee said before he fell into a fit of laughter.
âIâm serious,â you shrugged as you gave Joe a squeeze through his shorts, hearing him softly groan next to you. âSex is very important to girls. The whole intimacy and love aspect of it is very important for relationship development,â you nodded. âMaybe Joe just sucks at it,â you smirked as you looked over at him, his cheeks flushed as he was biting his lip.
Oh, he definitely didnât suck. If he got any better at it you would probably have a stroke.Â
âDamn, you really gonna let your girl do you like that?â Jaâmarr said to Joe.Â
âShe can do whatever she wants,â Joe said, giving you a heated look as he stared intensely at your eyes and then your plump pink lips that were covered with peach lip gloss.Â
âWhatever I want, huh?â you wiggled your eyebrows at him as you let go of his dick and slid your hand along his thick muscular thigh. âOkay, then I think the guys would just love to hear about how you almost threw up on one of your hookups back at Ohio State and how you had to text me to come save your ass while I was in the middle of a date. When I showed up she thought I was his girlfriend and he was cheating on me,â you giggled. âIt was a whole improv routine, I swear,â.Â
âBut you still came anyway,â Joe said, staring deeply into your eyes. âYou always showed up whenever I needed you,â he said a little quieter, but his words were incredibly loud and clear. You always showed up for him in every shape and form possible, and now that you were together, that would never change.
âY/N, we coulda used you down at LSU for real,â Jaâmarr nodded. âYouâre the only one that can keep Shiesty over here from completely embarrassing himself and the only one that can keep him in check,â.Â
âOhhh, I know,â you grinned. âI do a really good job at keeping him in check,â you winked at the guys as you gave Joeâs thigh a loving squeeze.
An hour laterÂ
After the dinner, you both got into Joeâs sleek black porche and were on your way back to his house, the tension in the car growing as you two sat in silence and had not mentioned a word about the shenanigans at dinner. The only sounds in the car were the song playing on the auxâKiss It Better by Rhiannaâand the sounds of the car moving.Â
You glanced over at him, taking in his muscular and hypnotizing body. The way his jaw was clenching as he focused on the road, the way his veiny hands that you loved to feel on your body gripped the steering wheel, the way the tight compression shirt fit him like another skin, the way his thick muscular thighs were spread open, and the way his plump bottom lip was in between his teeth. You needed him so badly and the teasing at dinner made it worse.
Joe felt your eyes on him so he turned over to look at you, but you quickly turned your head away and continued to look out your window, praying he didnât notice you looking at him but you were too late. He slowly swallowed as he stared at your perfect body. The way your delicate eyelashes were fluttering as you stared out at the road, your glossy pink lips that he wanted to feel against his so badly right now, the way your cropped sweater was hugging your perfect hips and breasts, the way your freshly manicured hands that he loved to feel in his hair and along his back were gripping your phone. You looked incredible and he felt a visceral ache inside of him because of how badly he needed you right now.Â
âJust take it on back, boy, take it on back, boy. Take it back all night. Just take it on back, take it on back. Mmm, do what you gotta do, keep me up all night,â you mumbled as you bobbed your head to the song, slowly turning your head over to look at Joe, finally your eyes meeting his heated gaze.
âYouâre staring,â you whispered as you felt your heart rate ramp up and your stomach do a backflip.Â
âI know,â he breathed out as he flipped his head back to the road, the sign for the nearest exit getting closer as he switched lanes to get to the exit lane. You were confused as to why he was going this way since this wasnât the way back home, but you didnât say anything because your brain was slowly being clouded by lust and desire.Â
You watched as he sped slightly, his grip on the steering wheel becoming tighter which made more of the veins along his muscular arm pop. Your eyes then fell down to his lap, the tent in his shorts incredibly prominent which made you smile knowing the effect you had on him.Â
He quickly pulled into the most empty parking lot possible, your mind finally realizing why he was doing this and a gush of wetness pooling your core at the thought of it. He quickly put the car in park and turned it off before looking over at you, âBackseat?â he breathlessly asked, his voice thick with infatuation.Â
âAbsolutely,â you grinned as you quickly got out of the passenger side and slipped into the spacious backseat of his Porsche, Joe following you. Â
âThank god for tinted windows,â you giggled as Joe pulled you onto his lap, his big hands settling on either side of your hips as he smashed his lips against yours.Â
âI need you so bad,â he said as he pressed kisses along your cheeks and jawline.Â
âIâm right here,â you whispered as you leaned back to look at him, his hands instantly pulling you back forward as he smashed his lips against yours again, this time his tongue invading your mouth as he started to peel off your top.Â
You flung it to the side before pulling your skirt off, then returning to the kiss while you felt his hands wander along your back before unclasping your bra. You let the straps fall as he slipped it off for you, you leaned back again as Joe peppered kisses along your collarbone down to your breasts, lightly nipping and sucking on them before kissing his way back up to your lips. You began to grind down on his crotch which made him moan into the kiss, his fingers slowly peeling your lace panties off. You quickly moved to the side to get them off faster before coming back into his lap.
âLeave this on,â you mumbled, pointing to his tight compression shirt.
âWhatever you want,â he said, getting lost in your beautiful eyes.Â
âI want these off though,â you giggled, pointing down at his shorts and boxers.
âOh, right,â he said, snapping out of his daze. He picked himself up and pulled both down at once, his erection springing free as you quickly gave him a few pumps before lining him up with your already wet core.Â
You smashed your lips against him as you slowly slid down his thick shaft, the feeling of him inside of you was something that you could never get tired of. âJoe,â you moaned against his lips, the way he was stretching you out was sending you right to the edge.Â
âFuck, Y/N,â he whimpered as you started moving against him, his hands landing on your hips as he started to help you move.Â
You put on of your hands in his dirty blonde curls, softly pulling at the strands as you picked up your pace. You moved your lips down to his neck where you spent a few moments sucking on his soft skin which was sure to leave a pretty purple mark
âYou feel so good,â he breathed out as his head fell back. You continued to move up and down him, the car filling with breathy moans and skin slapping which made you both even more desperate for more.Â
Joe wrapped his arms around your torso and started snapping his hips up into you, the sudden change of pace causing you to topple over and your hand to slide against the car window. âF- Fuck, oh my god,â you whined as you leaned on him, the new angle causing him to reach new spots inside of you.
âYou like that?â he whispered in your ear.
âMmhm,â you breathlessly nodded as he continued to rapidly thrust into your slick core.Â
A few moments later, you leaned back again and placed both hands on either side of his shoulders as you started to rock your hips back and forth. This new movement made Joe lose it.
âFuck, I canât..Thatâs it...Thatâs my girl,â he whimpered as he gripped your waist tightly, his brain fully fogged and the heat in his belly getting stronger.Â
The words that were coming from his mouth and the tension in your belly increasing made you lose it. âJoe, Iâm so close,â you moaned as you felt your walls slowly tighten around his cock.Â
He moved a hand down to where you two were connected, the mere sight of that drove him crazy let alone the feeling of being connected. He started rubbing circles around your sensitive clit, giving it a few rubs and then a gentle pinch which sent you right to the edge. âOh my god,â you screamed, your high hitting you like a ton of bricks.
âIâm close,â he groaned as he began snapping his hips up into you again, your walls squeezing him in the best way possible as the wetness below you increased.Â
âJ-Joe,â you whimpered as you leaned back, your high still washing over you as he continued to push deeper inside of you.Â
âIâm about to cum,â he moaned as he ran his veiny hands along the sides of your thighs.
âS- Shit..pull out,â you panted as you looked down at him.
âWhy?â he breathed out as he met your tired eyes.
âJ-Joe, fuckâŠcum on my stomach,â you moaned as you placed your hand on his chest.Â
Joe stared at you in awe for a few seconds. He had never seen you like this before, but he loved it. He loved this side of you and he loved you. He nodded as he stopped his movements and easily slipped out of you, the loss of contact making you squirm in his lap, âShit,â you whimpered as you felt your release seeping onto him.
He gave himself a few pumps as he watched you catch your breath, your gorgeous body glistening because of the light coming into the car from the street lights. A few seconds later thick ropes of cum spilled out onto your belly, the sight making you feel euphoric. âY/N,â he moaned as his head fell back again.Â
You looked back up at him and grabbed his head so that he was looking at you, âLook at me,â you panted as you felt him release more ropes of his pearly cum onto you while the rest was dripping down your belly.Â
âYou are amazing,â you grinned as you pulled his head forward and captured his lips in a heated kiss as he fell back into the seat with you closely pressed against him, your lips moving against each other in a sensual tango.
After a few minutes of catching your breaths and whispering sweet nothings into each otherâs ears, you spoke up. âSooo, are we going to talk about earlier?â.
âI think we just did,â he smiled at you, referring to what just transpired in the backseat of his car.Â
End of flashbackÂ
Then it was your best friend Lydia (the only one who knew about you two since she picked you up from his house the morning after the christmas party) catching on to what you two were up to which resulted in you fawning over how amazing it was to her.Â
Flashback to the phone call
âSooo, how is it,â she asked through the phone, you could practically feel the smirk on her face. âAnd Iâm asking because this time I know for sure youâve had sex with him,â.
âHow can you be so sure?â you giggled as you fell back against your soft sheets.Â
âNobody, and I mean Nobody is going to believe the lame-ass excuse you gave me about building Ikea furniture at Joeâs house as to why you couldnât Facetime me earlier. You wouldnât be caught dead within 5 feet of a hammer and an instruction manual. You werenât building a bed, you were probably breaking it,â she teased.
âLydia!â you screamed as your jaw dropped, you couldnât help but laugh at the silliness of it all. You both were truly making up for lost time with how your relationship was developing, doing everything you wish you couldâve done with each other in college.Â
âSoo,â she said, expecting more from you.
âFine,â you laughed. âItâs really really really good,â.
âLike how good?â she asked.
âHmmm, as good as a bottle of cold water at 3 in the morning,â you smiled.
âDamnnn, okay Joe,â Lydia laughed.
âHeâs so comforting and gentle with everything. He talks me through it all, says the sweetest things to me, looks at me like I'm the rarest diamond in the world, and showers me with all the love in the world. He always ensures Iâm fine and wants to do it as much as he does. Itâs just so perfect,â you said as you flipped over onto your stomach and started moving your feet back and forth like a child.
âAww,â she cooed.Â
âBut heâs also very good at everything he does, never makes me feel unsatisfied or unappreciated...There's a side to him that is less lover and more motivated by raw desire. I think if he got even better at it, I would have a stroke,â you blushed. âJust know I have a bottle of Advil on standby becauseâŠDamn,â you giggled.
âI love this for you. He sounds like everything you needed in your life,â she said.Â
âIâm really happy, Lydia. Like I donât know what I did to deserve him, but I canât get enough,â you said as you felt your heart skip a beat.Â
âLovergirl finally got her Loverboy. All is right in the world,â she smiled through the phone. âYou two are tooth rottingly adorable and sweet,â.Â
âAdorable, sweet, desperate, horny. Weâre a mix of a lot of things,â you laughed as you stuffed your face into the pillow.
End of flashbackÂ
âGood god, someone please spray us with anti-horny spray,â you laughed as you felt yourself getting worked up.Â
You took everything off and put it back in its spots before you put your clothes back on and turned the closet light off. You walked into the bathroom to do your nightly routine of brushing your teeth and washing your face before getting comfy in his bed.Â
You pulled up his contact and looked over at the time, âHeâs probably still awake,â you said as you clicked on the photos you took earlier and sent them to him. âHopefully heâs alone,â you laughed when you realized how embarrassed heâd be if he opened these photos around others.Â
You turned the TV and put on a movie as you set your phone to the side, a few moments later the screen lit up with texts from Joe.
Joe: holy fuckÂ
Joe: holy fuckkkkkkk babyÂ
Joe: you look so sexy what the fuck.
Joe: you doing this to me knowing iâm a good 30 minutes away and canât leave is criminal.Â
You: doing what?
Joe: Y/N.
You: fineeee. i just wanted to show my appreciation and since youâre not here this was my best option.. đ€·ââïž
Joe: that necklace looks even better on you than it does me. and that hat too. god, youâre so pretty
You: thank youuu but that necklace was about to break my neck. donât know how you do itÂ
Joe: iâm glad you put it on though. you look hot as fuckkkk. iâm struggling to keep it together right nowÂ
You: settle down QB. you have a game tomorrow, save that energy for the fieldÂ
Joe: just wait until after the game. im getting my appreciation in person too, iâm making sure of it
You: only if you win for meÂ
Joe: you got it gorgeousÂ
You: you should probably go to sleep now, you need to get your full beauty sleepÂ
Joe: youâre probably right
Joe: i miss youÂ
You: miss you too, J
Joe: iâll see you in the morning. i love you and thanks for that treat :)
You: i love you more and of course. just donât have too many scandalous dreams or youâre going to wake up frazzled Â
Joe: no promises.. i have hot ass girlfriend so my brain has a mind of its own
You: night joey
Joe: night sexy ;)
You smile as you put your phone on the nightstand and turn the TV off before turning the lights off. You got comfy under the covers and laid your head against his pillows, his natural scent lingering on them making you smile as you closed your eyes and fell asleep.
The next morningÂ
You felt a pair of soft lips press delicate kisses along your face, your eyes slowly fluttering open as you saw Joe sitting on the bed next to you with a huge smile on his face. âMorning, sunshine,â he smiled as he moved your hair out of your eyes before kissing your lips.
You quickly scooched up and pulled him in for a hug, âMmm, morning. I missed you,â you said as you pressed lazy kisses along his neck.Â
âHow did it feel being the lady of the house while I was gone,â he laughed before kissing your cheek and pulling away from the hug.Â
âGood,â you yawned as you stretched your arms out. âI think Iâll do just fine here,â you smiled.Â
âAmazing,â he smiled before leaning forward and pressing two sweet kisses to your forehead, a soft laugh coming from your lips because of his sweet actions, and also because you remembered the first time he kissed your forehead. Forehead kisses were one of your favorites, so sweet and intimate. Â
âWhy are you laughing,â he said while raising an eyebrow.
âThat forehead kiss,â you smiled.Â
âWhat about it?â he questioned.
âReminds me of the first time you kissed my forehead. Remember? Back at my apartment when you showed up with a bunch of goodies to cheer me up after the shitty day I had,â.
âOf course, I remember,â he nodded as he laced his fingers with yours and played with the ring on your left hand. âThat was also the first time you kissed my neck,â.
Joe loved it when you kissed his neck, it felt so comforting and sweet; just like you.Â
âI never did ask you why you kissed my forehead, Did I?â you asked him.
âNope,â he shook his head.
âWell, why did you? You never kissed my forehead, even when I had breakdowns worse than that,â you wondered.Â
âI kind of had a feeling that you were crying for another reason. A reason you couldnât tell me about. You were crying because of our relationship, werenât you?â he asked as he looked up.Â
You nodded, âYeah..I was getting in my head about the whole thing and the possibility of screwing everything up and losing you,â you sighed, dropping your head.Â
âBut you didnât,â he said as he moved your head back up. âYou didnât lose me and you wonât lose me,â he smiled. âI kissed your forehead because I actually wanted to kiss your lips, but I couldnât. I kissed your forehead also because I knew what forehead kisses meant to you and I guess that was my way of showing my love without actually saying it,â.Â
âWell, I definitely felt loved in that moment,â you grinned as you leaned forward to kiss him.
âWait, but why did you kiss my neck? Youâd never done that before either,â he asked.Â
âHonestly? I donât know. I think my body knew how much I needed you before my mind did,â you giggled. âIt felt right for some reason,â.
âI like that,â he smiled. âIt feels right,â.
âMhmmm,â you giggled as you leaned forward to kiss his neck again.Â
âYou should go get ready. Iâll grab us breakfast on the way to the stadium,â he smiled.
âSo early? The game isnât until 4:25,â you said while rubbing your eyes.
âYeah, I know. But since itâs the first playoff game, they want us there early. My parents are going to be there to keep you company too so you wonât get bored. You can explore the stadium if you want as well,â he said as he got up from the bed. âBut I think youâd get bored of that since youâve been coming to every home game for the past few years,â.
âYeahhh,â you smiled as you got up. âItâs good though. I love catching up with Jimmy and Robin so Iâll be fine,â.
âThey do love you a lot,â he smiled as he pulled you in for another hug, your chin resting against his chest as you looked up at him.
âGood thing I love them and their golden baby a lot too,â you smiled before pressing a big, passion-filled kiss to his lips and quickly pulling away from him.Â
âTeaseeee,â he laughed and shook his head as you walked into the bathroom with a smirk on your face.Â
A little while later, you walked downstairs after getting ready and saw Joe facing the kitchen as he was seated on the barstool and scrolling on his phone. He heard your footsteps behind him so he turned around, his jaw on the floor once he saw you.Â
You were wearing baggy black leather cargo pants, a tight skin-fit orange crop top, a âBurrowâ-themed bomber jacket, and his smaller â9â necklace. Your shoes were orange and black, a little â9â carved in on the sides.Â
âY/NâŠâ he said as he got up, watching you do a little twirl as you walked over to him.
âYou like?â you smiled.
âI love,â he said as he took in your outfit again. âThatâs my girl,â he smiled as he touched the smaller iced-out â9â chain around your neck.Â
âI hope itâs not too much. I wanted to make my first official appearance as Joe Burrowâs girlfriend a good one,â you said as you bit your lip.
âItâs perfect. You look absolutely stunning,â he said, sealing his words with a kiss. âIâve dreamed of this, seeing you wearing my number as my girlfriend and not just my best friend,â.
âIâm glad I could make it come true,â you giggled. âOh wait! I almost forgot something,â you froze.Â
âWhat? I donât see how you could make this better than it already is,â he laughed as he admired your sick jacket.Â
You winked at him as you pulled up your pants, showing your socks off to him. âOne sock inside out,â.Â
Joeâs heart skipped a beat when he saw the inside-out sock. He had been wearing one of his socks inside out since his early college days, a pre-game ritual that had become a tradition for him every time he stepped out on the field. The fact that you were partaking in this with him made his heart flutter, the fact that you remembered made his heart flutter.Â
âY- You remembered,â he mumbled as he looked up at you with his soft eyes.Â
âOf course, I remembered,â you said while gently punching his shoulder. âThis is one thing that makes you, you. Youâre still the same guy you were all those years ago and the fact that you still do these things is adorable,â you grinned, your hand going into your pocket as you reached for something.
âAaandd, almost forgot this too,â you said as you handed him a Caramel Apple sucker which was a part of another pre-game ritual of his.Â
Joe laughed as he took the sucker from your hand, âYouâre incredible, you know that?â Joe smiled.Â
âNo, youâre incredible,â you giggled while you kissed his smooth cheek. He meant the world to you, so doing these things for him was a given. You wanted to make today as special as possible for the two of you. Â
A few hours laterÂ
âAre you excited, sweetie?â Robin eagerly asked as she patted your leg.
âVery excited. I canât wait to see him out there,â you smiled at his parents as you all were sitting inside the Burrow suite.Â
âGosh, I still can't believe you two finally got together. We always knew Joe liked you but I thought he wouldnât ever tell you since it had been so long,â Jimmy laughed.
âJoey always had a knack for taking his time with things. He always made sure it was the right time to do something, he was never one to rush things. And given how much he cares about you, him taking so long to tell you how he felt made sense,â Robin smiled. âHe really cares about you. Just the way he looks at you says everything and more,â.
âThe way he was looking at you the night you both told us just gave it away,â Jimmy smiled.
Flashback to when You and Joe told his parents about you two (a couple days after your sisterâs wedding)
âAnd then she just fell right into the waiter and got tequila all over her dress,â Joe laughed as he finished telling his parents about your 21st birthday mishap.Â
âWeâve all been a little clumsy when weâre drunk, Joe,â you giggled as you absentmindedly placed your hand on top of his.
Robinâs eyes darted down to both of your hands, she looked at Jimmy through the corner of her eye, a smile on both their faces as they stayed silent.
âDonât even get me started on the time I had to nurse you back from the massive hangover you got after Lydiaâs birthday,â you giggled as you looked at him like you were the only two in the room. âIt was brutal,â you smiled as you moved your hand off of his and rubbed his shoulder with your hand.Â
Joeâs parents had noticed your behaviors as soon as you both walked through the door. Ever since you got here, you both had been extra giggly and touchy with each other. Whether it was the accidental (but not so accidental) touches when you were putting food on your plates, the little glances at each other that you two had thought you were doing a good job at hiding, or the way you were laughing extra hard at everything Joe said. You were even laughing at things that werenât even that funny.Â
They also noticed the way Joe was looking at you the entire time. His eyes were so clearly filled with love and infatuation, a look in his eyes that they had never seen in him before until now. He did a bad job of hiding it because he was so damn in love with you that it was literally oozing out of him and everyone could see.Â
âAnd that is why I donât drink that much anymore,â Joe smiled as he placed his arm around the back of your chair, his hand just inches from your shoulder. âTake a page out of my book,â.Â
âDonât need to tell me twice,â you said as you pushed away your wine glass. âIâm gonna use the bathroom real quick,â you said to everyone as you got up from your chair, your hand squeezing Joeâs shoulder as you walked behind him to get to the hallway where the bathroom was.
Joe watched as you walked away, his eyes filled with adoration as his face had the biggest smile on it. He turned back to look at his parents, both of them staring at him like he had something to tell them.
âWhat?â Joe laughed as he leaned forward to grab his water glass.
âNothing,â Jimmy shook his head and looked over at Robin who had a skeptical look on her face.
âOkayyyy,â Joe said, a little suspicious of his parents' behavior but decided not to think much about it. âIâm gonna go grab something from my old room, I'll be back,â Joe lied as he got up from his seat.
He didnât need to grab something from his old room, but he did need to see you alone and this was the best chance he had all night to do so.Â
Joe walked over to the bathroom you were in and softly knocked on the door. âJust a minute,â you said as you were fixing your hair in the mirror.Â
Joe rolled his eyes and knocked harder this time, âItâs me,â he said.Â
You rolled your eyes and unlocked the door for him before going back to fixing your hair in the mirror, âJeez, if you had to go so bad why didnât you go to the other bathroom,â.
Joe quickly slipped inside and closed the door behind him, locking the door and then turning back to you. He wrapped his arms around your waist from behind and rested his chin on your shoulder. You looked down at him through the mirror, noticing his almost tired-looking face. âYou okay, J?â you softly asked him as you moved your hand to his hair, ruffling the curls a little. His sudden need to be attached to you was slightly worrying.Â
âIâm great. I just miss being close to you,â he said as he pressed a kiss to your shoulder.Â
âWeâve only been here for a couple of hours,â you giggled as you turned around in his hold, your body now facing him.Â
âI know, itâs just annoying not being able to touch you like how I should be touching you in front of everyone,â he sighed as he ran his hands up and down your arms.Â
âI know,â you nodded, feeling bad that you were being secretive about your relationship even though this was something you both decided you wanted to do for a bit even though that was coming to a close. Your family already found out (on accident obviously) and Joeâs family did not; hiding it from them was becoming difficult.Â
âBut, this will do for now,â Joe smiled as he lifted your face to his, capturing your sweet lips in a gentle kiss. You instantly melted into his touch like you were a piece of gourmet chocolate on his tongue, your arms looped around his neck as you felt him lift you up onto the bathroom counter. You spread your legs open to accommodate his large body as you wrapped them around him, your fingers threading through his dirty blonde curls as his tongue invades your mouth and you two get lost in each otherâs touch.Â
You spent a few minutes making out in the bathroom before you had to stop so that his parents didnât get suspicious, even though they already were. You quickly fixed yourselves in the mirror before Joe opened the door for you to leave the bathroom, then followed you out. You both turned to walk back to the dining room but froze in your tracks as you saw both of his parents standing at the end of the hallway with their jaws on the floor.
âAre you fucking kidding me,â Joe whispered to you.
âWhat the hell is it with us and getting caught leaving a room together after doing something scandalous,â you whispered back, this was the same way your sister found out about you and Joe. The Universe was really messing with you at this point.Â
âI promise this isnât what it looks like,â Joe said louder to his parents as they walked closer to you.
âYeah,â you laughed. âJoe, just uhâŠneeded to talk to me about something,â you lied.
âAbout what?â Robin raised an eyebrow and looked at you both.Â
âUhhh, umm,â Joe mumbled as he struggled to come up with an excuse.Â
âAbout a girl,â you chimed in, all 3 of their heads flipping over to you.Â
âA girl?â Jimmy gasped.Â
âA girl?â Joe whispered under his breath. You really couldnât come up with another excuse? Now he had to lie about having some random girl in his life when the only girl in his life was you.Â
âYeah,â you cleared your throat and said. âHe needed some advice,â you reassuringly nodded.Â
âAdvice,â Robin said. âJoe needed advice about a girl from you? In the bathroom? Right now while youâre at dinner with us?â she asked, still not quite believing you.
âUhh, yeah,â Joe nodded. âI needed to talk to her alone and this was the best way. I didnât want to tell you guys anything yet,â.
âLooks like we were caught though,â you nervously fake-laughed as you grabbed onto his bicep, your heated touch sending visible shivers down his spine.Â
âWe really need to do better at hiding things,â Joe nervously laughed as he looked down at you, his arm moving up and wrapping around your shoulder.Â
âI know right? Weâre too old to be doing this sneaking around and getting caught thing,â you fake laughed again as you and Joe continued to have an improvised conversation to hopefully get his parents off your scent.Â
You continued to go back and forth with the unbelievable lie, Robin and Jimmy both staring at each other with a growing smile on their faces. They knew something was up and you two were really bad liars.Â
âWould you two just get together already!?â Robin loudly said as she looked at you guys. Both of you froze, stopped talking, and your eyes widened.Â
âWhat?â Joe asked as he looked at his Mom.
âYou heard her,â Jimmy nodded.Â
âI think you guys have the wrong idea,â you said. âWeâre just-,â.
âFriends?â Robin interrupted. âY/N, Iâve heard you both say that for 9 years but every time I see you both together, you look like a typical couple,â.Â
âLook at you two right now,â Jimmy said, pointing at your body language. Joeâs arm was wrapped around your shoulder and your body was tightly pressed next to his, both of you instantly moving away from each other once you noticed they were right.Â
âEver since you both walked in, weâve seen the constant touches and looks and heard that never-ending laughter from both of you,â Robin noted. âAnd I know you two have always been like that, but this is that on steroids,â.Â
âRobinâs right. You two are just extra happy and cheery around each other,â Jimmy stated. âLooks like a relationship glow to me,â. Â
âAre we not allowed to be extra happy without it being weird?â Joe defensively asked as he ran his fingers through his hair.Â
âYou are allowed. Itâs just a little too obvious now, you both clearly have a thing for each other,â Robin said, not giving up on her observations. âJoe, you literally look at her like sheâs the rarest diamond in the world. I can see it in your eyes,â.Â
âAnd Y/N, we can see the way you touch him and what your touch does to him,â Jimmy added.Â
His parents really cracked the case open on their own; it didnât help that you two were so bad at hiding your feelings for each other. You practically handed it to them. Â
Joe was beginning to feel antsy as his parents continued going on about their observations. They were talking about how itâs been clear you both have had feelings for each other for years, how they are incredibly visible now more than ever, and how you should do something about it before you miss the opportunity and regret it for the rest of your life. You were attentively listening to them, but Joe was fully zoned out and restless.
âFuck it,â Joe thought to himself as he looked at you. âThey were bound to find out at some point. Let me save them the trouble,â.
He used his hand to turn your head to face him and instantly smashed his lips against yours and kissed you hungrily in front of his parents, both of you hearing gasps and laughter from them as you leaned into the kiss. After a few heated seconds, you both pulled away from each other.Â
âSurprise,â he said as he looked back at his parents as you stood there speechless by his boldness.Â
âI knew it,â Robin shrieked as she eagerly patted Jimmy's shoulders and jumped up and down.Â
You looked over at Joe, your face still stunned at how everything did a full 360 within just a few seconds. âYouâre insane,â you giggled as you dropped your head to his shoulder.
âInsanely in love with you,â he said as he kissed your forehead, his parents hearing and smiling even harder at you two.Â
âYou need to tell us everything right now or Iâm throwing all of your old Lego sets into the fireplace,â Robin said with a stern look on her face.Â
âWoah, no need to get crazy there Mom,â Joe laughed as Robinâs face quickly changed back to excited as she hugged you both.
âFinallyyyy,â she squealed. âYou two are perfect for each other,â.Â
âI canât believe you just did that. I thought our lie was believable,â you shook your head up at Joe.Â
âBelievable in what dimension? That mightâve been the worst lie weâve ever told,â Joe said as his Mom let go of you two and he pulled you into his arms.Â
âHeâs not wrong there,â Jimmy laughed. âNext time, choose a better one,â.
âWell sorry, I'm not used to lying about dating my best friend,â you playfully scoffed.Â
âNo need to lie anymore though,â he shrugged. âTime to openly show everyone how much I love you. I think I might buy a megaphone and shout it from the top of Paycor so everyone can hear about how Iâm winning at life in the best way possibleâ.
âI love youâ you smiled at him, your heart exploding at the thought of showing your deep love for one another to everyone.Â
End of flashbackÂ
âI canât believe you guys came at us like detectives with your observations and everything,â you giggled as you sipped your water.Â
âYou two just suck at hiding it,â she smiled. âBut true love is always hard to hide so that makes sense,â Robin laughed as she looked out onto the field and noticed the team coming out for pre-game warmups. âOh, looks like itâs warmup time,â.Â
You turned around and looked out on the field, seeing all the guys come out of the tunnel, then spotting Joe who was looking up at the suite.Â
Robin noticed the smile on your face once you found Joe on the field, she rested her hand on your back and spoke up, âGo down there and see him,â she encouraged.Â
âAre you sure?â you asked as you turned back to face her.Â
âAbsolutely. They wonât mind. Iâve done it a few times myself,â she nodded.Â
You hesitated for a few seconds before getting up from your seat. It would be nice to see him down there before the crowds piled in and you were overwhelmed by thousands of fans.Â
âOkay,â you breathed out. âIâll be back,â you smiled as you walked around the table to the exit door. You walked around the concourses and slowly made your way down to the field level. You walked through the tunnel and made it onto the field a few minutes later, spotting Joe on the sideline sitting on the bench staring out onto the open field.Â
He didnât notice you coming over until you were just a few feet from him, his eyes widening and a smile popping up on his face as he saw you getting closer. âWhatâre you doing down here?â.
âI came to see you,â you grinned as you sat down next to him.Â
âYou keep surprising me. Now youâre willingly down here in front of everyone,â he laughed as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder and pulled you into his chest before dropping a kiss on your forehead.Â
âI mean, I'm going to be down here before the game in front of like 60,000 people. This is nothing,â you smiled as he chuckled above you. âCare to tell me why you were lost in thought just now?â you asked him about why he was staring out onto the field in silence.
âJust taking it in,â he sighed. âIt helps me calm my nerves and get my head straight,â.Â
âAh,â you nodded as you watched some of his teammates warm up. You couldnât even imagine how loud the thoughts in his head were during game day but he still managed to go out there with the most calm attitude, you donât know how he does it, but he manages to block everything out with a snap of his fingers.Â
âJust know that Iâm proud of you regardless of the outcome. I know I said you should win for me, but I want you to know that winning or losing doesnât matter to me at all. I just want you to have fun out there and give it your best,â you said to him as you continued to stare out onto the field, feeling his hand squeeze your shoulder as you continued to calm him with your words. âYou are an amazing Football player regardless and will continue to set the league on fire for many more years to come. If you lose tonight, it doesnât matter in the grand scheme of things. Youâre still building a legacy that nobody can undo,â.Â
âI love you, baby,â he said to you with another kiss on your head, his heart and soul smiling because of your meaningful words. You always said the right thing at the right time.Â
âI love you more,â you smiled as you kissed his neck and scooted closer to him, both of you enjoying this quiet and calm moment with each other before you were interrupted.
âOoooo, Babbyyyy,â you heard a group of voices say ahead of you. It was Jaâmarr, Tee, and Jermaine.Â
âWe gotta talk about this later, Y/N!â Tee screamed over at you.
âFor real! Y'all canât do this shit and not tell me until a whole ass month later,â Jaâmarr yelled.Â
âI called it,â Jermaine nodded. âHonorary girlfriend is the real girlfriend,â he said while giving you a thumbs up and a cheeky grin.
âYou told them?â you asked as you looked over at Joe, both of your cheeks red from slight embarrassment.Â
âI think they couldâve figured it out if they saw us sitting like this, but yeah, I told them earlier,â he laughed.Â
âI canât wait to hear what they have to say,â you blushed as you looked back over at the 3 men, watching as they teased you both with Cupid arrows and air kisses. âOoooo, Babyyyyy indeed,â you softly laughed, remembering the first time you called each other âbabyâ.
Start of Flashback (early days of your relationship)
You were lying down on Joeâs bed, mindlessly scrolling through your phone as Joe was putting a few things away in his closet. You were so zoned out and unaware of your surroundings that you didnât even realize when Joe came out of the closet and turned off the TV before turning around and looking at you.Â
He didnât say a word and you didnât even notice, you just felt a growing weight on your body as Joe suddenly crawled up your body and laid on top of you. You lifted your arms out of the way to look at him, his head instantly finding his home on your chest as he wrapped his arms loosely around your torso.Â
You placed your phone to the side as you wrapped your arms around him, one hand playing with the soft strands of his hair while the other one was rubbing his back. âYou okay, J?â you softly asked him as you looked down at his adorable face, the âout of nowhereâ cuddling a new thing for you.
âMhm,â he cutely mumbled against your skin, dropping a kiss to your chest before holding you tighter and getting comfy on your warm chest.Â
You giggled at the sight of your 6â4, hunky, muscular, very manly, athletic, and strong Boyfriend melting into your body. He was already as adorable as they come but even more adorable whenever he acted like this.
âWhy are you laughing?â he said while looking up at you.
âYou just look so cute right now,â you smiled as you played with his hair, lightly scratching his scalp at the same time.Â
âThanks, pumpkin,â he said with flirtatious eyes.
âPumpkin?â you asked, your nose scrunching up at the cringe word.Â
âYeah, muffin,â he laughed.Â
âJoe, what are you doing?â you giggledÂ
âWhat do you mean, sweet pea?â he asked as he stuck out his tongue and laughed.
You looked at him with confusion before the lightbulb went off on your brain as to why he was calling you these weird names. Pet names, obviously.Â
âOh, sorry. Youâre right, honeybun,â you said, trying to hold back a laugh.Â
âItâs okay, Princess,â he smiled as you caught on to what he was doing, he used his hand to give your waist a loving squeeze.
You did like Princess though. That one sent butterflies around your body and made you feel warm inside.Â
âSo how was practice, Sweetie?â you giggled as you asked him.Â
âGood as usual, lovebug,â he laughed against you, the pet names getting even more unserious as you both went on.Â
âThatâs great, Studmuffin,â you giggled again.
âMy god, weâre so unserious,â Joe burst out laughing into your chest.
âI know,â you giggled as you threw your head back. âBut I like the pet names idea you got going on. I really like Princess,â.
âOkay, what else do we have then, Princess,â he asked while lovingly gazing into your beautiful eyes.Â
âHmmm. Thereâs Bubs, Bae, Honey, Darling, SweetsâŠâ you began to say.
âAll those are cringe except for Sweets,â he laughed.
âAgreed,â you breathed out. âOoo, what about loverboy?â you asked him as you continued to play with his soft hair.
âI like that, Sweets,â he smirked at you.Â
âGood, loverboy,â you laughed again, a permanent smile slapped on your face because of Joe. He always had you extra giggly, smiley, and happy around him. His effect on you was unmatchable.Â
âNone of the other names feel super natural honestly. They feel weird,â you said as you pressed a kiss to his head.
âAgreed. I think weâre good with these ones,â he nodded.
These ones were good, but they still didnât feel perfect. You needed something that naturally rolled off your tongues. Â
âI still can't believe this is real life,â you contently sighed. âI feel like Iâm a pinch away from waking up from this beautiful dream,â.
âNobodyâs pinching you because this isnât a dream,â he said while kissing your chest again. âThis is all real,â.
âI love my life,â you giggled again as you felt Joe press multiple kisses to your skin.Â
âAnd I love you, baby,â Joe said, absentmindedly calling you âbabyâ as he scooched up to be face to face with you, butterflies filling your body as he was showering you with all the love you deserved.Â
âI love you more, baby,â you said while pressing a sweet kiss to his lips before suddenly pulling away.Â
You just called each other baby without realizing it, but it was perfect. It was natural.
âWait, thatâs it,â you said as your heart skipped a beat. âBaby. Thatâs it, thatâs the one,â you smiled at him.
âBaby,â he said, the word so easily rolling off his tongue. âClassics are always the best,â he nodded.Â
âAnd it rolled off our tongues without any pre-planned effort,â you eagerly smiled.Â
âBaby,â he whispered. âBaby, come here. Baby, whereâs my sweatshirt? Baby, letâs go hook up in the storage closet,â Joe smiled as he tested out the name.
âJoe!â you shrieked as you playfully slapped his chest.Â
âIâm sold. I love it,â he grinned.Â
âGood. I love it too, Baby,â you smiled before you pulled him down for another passionate kiss. His arms wrapped around you as he pressed his body closely against yours, your heartbeats meshing together.
Sometimes home wasnât four walls and a roof, it was 2 arms and a heartbeat.
End of flashbackÂ
âWhereâd you go?â Joe asked as he rubbed your shoulder, snapping you out of your flashback.Â
âHm? Oh, nothing,â you smiled at him as you played with his fingers. âJust thinking,â.
âGood things, I hope?â he said as he laid his head against yours.
âItâs always good things with you, donât ever worry about that,â you smiled after you pressed a passionate kiss to his lips.Â
âJoe! Come out here, we need you,â Tee yelled over as he motioned for Joe to come out on the field.Â
âSorry, Y/N!â he added.Â
âNo worries,â you yelled back before you looked over at Joe. âDuty calls, Quarterback,â you nodded at him.
âUnfortunately,â he sighed as he got up from the bench, extending his hand to help you up. âIâll see you in a bit though?â.
âIâll be right there, front and center,â you blushed as he pulled you in for a tight hug.Â
âMake sure to wear the peach lipgloss,â he said as he dropped a kiss on your head before letting go of you and jogging out to the field.Â
âWould never forget it,â you yelled out to him, watching him look back at you with an enamored look on his face.Â
An hour later - Game Time
âDeep breath in, Deep breath out,â you thought to yourself as Joeâs parents led you down to the sideline family section. The air was electric, buzzing with the collective energy of thousands of fans. The shouting, cheers, and chants blend into a beautiful symphony of sound that vibrates through your chest.Â
The bright lights seem to follow you with every step as you walk down onto the field, walking past the screaming fans on one side and the football staff on the other. You were used to all of this considering youâd been a part of his football journey since day 1, but this time it felt different. The sea of people around you felt a tad overwhelming but incredibly exhilarating. Thereâs a sense of being both tiny and monumental at the same timeâpart of something much larger than yourself, yet with all eyes on you.Â
âThey should be coming out any minute now,â Robin said once you reached the roped-off family section from where you could see the entire field. âHow are you doing?â she asked, noticing your slightly overwhelmed facial expression.Â
âGood,â you breathed out. âI can feel all the eyes on me though,â you giggled.
âI think your outfit might have something to do with that,â she smiled as she rubbed your back. âThey can see that his girlfriend came to play today,â.
âYeah,â you blushed. âShe did,â you grinned as you played with the â9â on your necklace.
A few minutes later, they started setting everything up for the players run outs, your heartbeat picking up once you realized you were about to see him and this was really going to set in.Â
âFuck, I canât forget this,â you whispered to yourself as you reached into your pocket for your peach lipgloss. You carefully but quickly smeared the gloss over your plump lips as you heard and watched the team run out. The crowd erupted as the music blared throughout the stadium and you could practically feel the vibrations underneath you right now.Â
âAnd the Quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, Joe Burrowww!â the announcers yelled over the speakers, your heart stopping as you heard the stadium erupt once more as the electricity in the air got dialed to 100.Â
âHere he comes,â Robin squealed next to you as she placed her hands on your shoulders and gently shook you around because of how excited she was for you.Â
And there he was.Â
The man that swept you off your feet, the man that completed your world, the man that loved you in ways that you thought were impossible. There he was running out of the tunnel and onto the fieldâand he was running straight to you.Â
You smiled at him as you watched him take his helmet off with one hand, using his other to fix his hair as he got closer to you. The crowd behind you losing their minds because of the detour he took over to this area of the sidelines.Â
âJoe!! Marry me!â one fan screamed.Â
âHave my babies!â another screamed.
âYeahhh, get 'emâ shiesty!â another screamed.
âAhhhh, heâs coming over here,â another one screamed.Â
You paid 0 attention to what was happening around you because as soon as you laid your eyes on him, everything went silent. It felt like it was just the two of you in that stadium.Â
âFuck, he looks good,â you whispered under your breath as you gave him a slow once over, the Orange Jersey he had on was your absolute favorite.
Joe reached the roped-off portion of the family section and placed his helmet on the ground, first greeting his parents and sharing a few words with them before moving to you, who was eagerly waiting for him to notice you.Â
âHi,â you grinned at him.
âFancy seeing you here,â he wiggled his eyebrows. âCome here often?â.
âNah, first time,â you giggled.Â
âWell, howâs the experience so far rookie? Is it everything you dreamed of?â he asked you as he caught his breath.Â
âEverything and more,â you smiled at him, and he flashed his million-dollar smile at you in return. âWhen you smile that beautiful smile, all the girls in the front row scream your name. Just listen to them,â you giggled as you heard the loud girls screaming his name amongst some other bold things.Â
âOkay, but I canât take my eyes off of you, and only you. As far as Iâm concerned, youâre the only girl in this stadium right now,â.Â
âPlease, Iâm just another wide-eyed girl whoâs desperately in love with you. Your whole fan club is here,â.
âPshh, please. The fan club can go find someone else to thirst over. I have all I need right here,â he smiled as he grabbed your hand and pulled you closer, the rope preventing him from fully holding you. âMm, this is a problem,â he sighed.Â
âSorry, Iâm off limits,â you winked.Â
âNope,â he shook his head as he placed his hands on either side of your hips.
âJoe, what the hell are you-,â.
âCurl your legs up,â he whispered in your ear as he picked you up and lifted you to the other side of the rope, practically carrying you over it.Â
âHoly shit,â you widened your eyes at what he just did in front of everyone. You could hear the loud chatter behind you, everyone sounding incredibly confused as to what was going on in front of them.Â
âNot off limits anymore,â he smiled as he set you down and fixed your hair.Â
âI couldâve climbed under the ropesâŠâ you said, still frozen in shock.
âYeah, but that wouldnât be dramatic enough for us,â he laughed as he met your beautiful eyes.Â
âFair point,â you giggled.Â
âIâm really glad youâre here. This is all Iâve ever wanted,â he said as he turned a bit more serious.Â
âThis is all Iâve wanted too. Iâm glad we decided to give this a chance, well, more than a chance. I know it hasnât even been that long, but Iâm all in,â you looked at him with your adorably soft eyes that he loved to get lost in.
âIâve been all in since the day I saw you,â he blushed.Â
âDamn, am I that captivating?â you giggled as you fanned yourself from the flattery.Â
âDo you need me to answer that for real orâŠ,â.
âNo need. You can show me later,â you winked as you watched him quickly look over his shoulder at the time, seeing that he had to go back to his area for kickoff.Â
âI gotta go,â Joe breathed out.Â
âOkay,â you nodded as you shoved your hands in your pockets. âHave a good game,â you innocently teased.Â
âMm, Mm,â Joe shook his head. âNope,â.
âWhat?â you wiggled your eyebrows. âYou need something else?â.
Joe reached out and put his hand in your jacket pocket, pulling you into him as you stumbled because of the sudden movement. Your eyes were glued to your feet as you slowly moved your head up and looked up at him, âI need my good luck kiss,â he grinned.Â
âFine,â you playfully rolled your eyes and sighed. âIf you insist-,â you began to say before you felt Joe smash his lips against yours, his hand firmly planted on your ass as he pressed you closer to his body. He groaned into the kiss as he tasted your delicious lip gloss on your lips. He placed his other hand on your waist as your hands looped around his neck, both of you getting lost in the sensual yet sweet kiss and forgetting about where you were and what was happening.Â
You were sure that everyone around you was probably screaming, taking a dozen photos and videos, and probably screaming at you to get away from Joe. But you didnât actually hear any of it. It was just the two of you out there. In a stadium packed with thousands upon thousands of fans, it felt like it was just the two of you there.Â
A few seconds later, you both pulled away, still holding onto each other though. You and Joe were both a little breathless as you both laughed at each other.
âPeach Lip Gloss. You didnât forget,â he winked.Â
âI could never forget,â you smiled as you heard a staff member call out for him. âOops, looks like Iâve kept you too long,â.
âThe game can wait,â he rolled his eyes.Â
âUhh, I donât think thatâs how that works,â you laughed as you threaded your hands in his hair.
âYeah, youâre probably right,â he said as he dropped his head.Â
âHey,â you said as you lifted his head back up and cupped his cheek. âRemember, youâre amazing and youâre going to kill it out there. Win or Lose, you are still one of the best damn quarterbacks to get onto that field in recent memory,â.Â
âI love you, Y/N,â he smiled, his heart beating right out of his chest at this point.Â
âI love you, Loverboy,â you giggled.
âGo get 'emâ, Superstar,â you grinned as you pressed a final kiss to his lips.Â
After the Game
They won. The Bengals had won their first playoff game of the postseason.Â
Joe killed it, to say the least. He was out there playing with an extra edge, an edge many were curious about.
The only ones that knew where his newfound edge came from were the two of you. You were the edge he was playing with. He knew you were watching and he knew how much this all meant to you, he wanted to make it perfect.Â
And he did.Â
From start to finish he played an excellent game, one of the best games of his NFL career is what many were calling it.Â
Currently, you were seated on a bench outside the locker room as Joe was about to go into his postgame conference. You couldnât wait to see him. Your phone was blowing up with messages and various notifications about you and Joe but you were holding off on looking at them because you remember he said that he wanted to do it together.Â
You pulled up the Bengals App and tapped on the live feed for the conference, your heart, soul, and face lighting up once you saw Joe sit down with a huge smile on his face.Â
âHello, Hello,â he cutely said into the mic as he got comfortable.Â
âSo, Joe. Looks like you had one hell of a game out there,â one reporter said.Â
Joe laughed as he pushed his hair back with his hand, âYeah, I guess I did,â.
âAny reason in particular? Looked like you were playing with an extra edge out there,â another reporter asked.Â
âJust good vibes and feeling 100% all around,â he sighed.Â
âSo, it had nothing to do with what happened on the sidelines before the game?â another reporter asked.
âCan they ask him that?â you whispered to yourself as you raised an eyebrow.Â
Joe let out a soft chuckle before responding, âHonestly. It had everything to do with that,â he boldly said.Â
Gasps and murmurs began to fill the conference room before another reporter spoke up. âJoe, we know you donât really talk about your private life, but we have to know. That looked like one of your friends from college from what weâve seen about you over the years,â they said.Â
âIf youâre comfortable with sharing anything about that, weâd love to hear it,â another reporter added.Â
Joe paused for a few seconds before taking a deep breath. âYeah, it is. Thatâs Y/N. Sheâs my bestest friend in the entire world ,â he nodded. âBut also my girlfriend. She means the world to me and is a big reason why I go out there every Sunday and do what I do. Sheâs been by my side since day 1 back at Ohio State. Sheâs stuck by my side through everything in my career and my personal life, she never failed to show up for me no matter the situation or circumstances. Sheâs done it for 9 years and she doesnât plan on stopping anytime soon and I do the same for her. I love her more than words can describe. Sheâs my everything,â.Â
You felt a tear trickle down your face as you heard him talk about you most sweetly and lovingly way possible. He truly loved you and wasnât afraid of openly showing it.Â
His everything.Â
You were his everything.Â
âThe Endâ

Introduction to the OSR
what's an OSR? it's a game that's kinda like old-school D&D. or is old-school D&D. or is compatible with old-school D&D. an OSR game generally has some or all of the following principles:
low character power with highly lethal combat. in old-school D&D a 1st-level fighter has d8 hit points and a longsword does d8 damage, and you die at 0HP. this is not to ensure characters die all the time but to emphasize the next bullet point:
emphasis on creative problem solving. most situations cannot be solved by straightforward use of your abilities (such as charging into every situation with swords drawn, if a fighter), so the game tests lateral, outside-the-box thinking.
emphasis on diegetic progression. spells are found, not obtained automatically on level-up. you get XP by finding gold more than killing monsters. most of your cool abilities come from magic items. making alliances & hiring followers is encouraged.
focus on managing inventory, resources, risk, and time. the players are constantly faced with meaningful decisions; this is the heart of the game.
very sandbox-oriented. the focus on creative problem solving means the game must be accommodating to players taking a course of action the GM didn't plan for. use lots of random tables to generate emergent story. some elements of new simulationism.
high tactical transparency, i.e., the optimal course of action is rarely system-specific, and ideally very possible for a new player to intuit.
usually semi-compatible with old D&D, but not always. usually rules-lite, but not always.
what does the OSR mostly NOT do?
focus on character builds. these change the focus too much to be on the rules than the fiction, can create situations where stuff everyone should be able to do is an ability locked to one class, and impede tactical transparency.
resolve everything with a die roll. combat uses dice to be scary, unpredictable and most importantly not your default course of action. everything else should bring up dice rarely - dice are your plan B when your plan A fails. the best plans need no dice.
use linear storytelling or put players into a writer/GM role. linear storytelling gets in the way of the decision-making so core to the playstyle; letting players write details into the setting is mutually exclusive with them discovering it.
rules for everything. 400 pages of crunch is worse at simulating a believable world than the GM and players' shared understanding. OSR games rely constantly on GM ruling.
mostly still applies to all the above. making your system a "pure" OSR game comes second to doing what's best for your game.
System recommendations
old D&D or a retroclone
old-school D&D - or old school essentials or basic fantasy or swords & wizardry, which are old D&D's mechanics repackaged with quality-of-life tweaks (and the upside of not giving WOTC your money) - are usually the go-to when recommending someone's first OSR game. they're actually not my first pick, though!
PROS:
very complete, with more robust rules than a lot of the lighter games on this list.
100% compatibility: most OSR adventures are statted for old school essentials. converting them to other OSR systems is usually simple, but not 1-for-1.
easier to find games for. anyone interested in the OSR space knows what old school essentials is.
CONS:
jank. these games largely still have weird saves, level limits for non-humans, some still have descending AC, etc etc. it's not that bad but it is there
i hate thief skills. lots of essential dungeoneering actions are locked to the thief class as abilities, with abysmally low success chances. this is stuff i prefer being handled without a roll. thieves in this system suck and make everyone else worse at dungeon crawling by existing.
there's just lots of really cool shit in other systems i'm about to go into that you just don't get here
Knave 1e and its various hacks
this is a 7-page super-lightweight system that boils everything down to just the essentials.
rolling a character takes like 5 minutes. roll stats, roll gear, roll traits, go. done. it's great.
characters are defined entirely by stats and gear, no classes. wanna be a fighter, have high strength and carry a big sword and armor. wanna be a wizard, have high intelligence and fill your inventory with spells. item slots are elegant and pretty limited.
initiative is instant: roll d6. 1-3, monsters go first. 4-6, PCs go first. swingy, but god it is so smooth and shaves like the most boring 5 minutes off of every combat
monsters are so very elegant. old D&D gives monsters a "hit dice" rating to determine their HP, e.g. a 3HD monster rolls 3d8 for hit points. knave takes this number (HD) and uses it for attack rolls and saves (aside from exceptionally bad/good saves), so a knave statblock looks something like this.
spells are all one or two sentences long & extremely easy to remember.
7 pages is so light. i have the system basically memorized.
DOWNSIDES: there's no dungeon crawling rules (standard for meatier OSR games & something i consider essential) and no real bestiary, though the second point isn't a huge deal cause they're so easy to make. it also kinda assumes you already know how to run OSR games, so there's very little real advice or guidance.
KNAVE HACKS
knave 1e is in creative commons & comes with an editable word doc for you to publish with modifications, so there's a ton of variants (there was a spreadsheet of them somewhere, but i can't find it).
Grave is a favorite - i'm two years into a grave campaign and it's fantastic. it's a dark-souls-y version of knave with some really elegant innovations.
you have a set number of deaths before you for-reals die, as every character plays an undead as is dark souls tradition. makes it good for OSR beginners! being able to tell when you're close to your final death is really good - it lets you emotionally prepare for losing your character & raises the stakes more the more you die. (though honestly you should probably cut the number of extra deaths in half, it's super generous)
XP and gold are combined into one resource, souls. legendary creatures drop big souls you can make into magic items. this has ended up being the coolest thing in my current campaign. my players love finding powerful souls to make into magic items it's so fun
uses preset packages of stats/gear instead of knave's rolled ones, filling the role of more traditional character classes. has the wonderful side effect of not making you get stuck with low stats cause you rolled bad one time.
you have stamina equal to your empty item slots. you spend stamina on spells if you're a caster, or free maneuvers (on top of your attack at no action cost) if you're not. it's super elegant.
there's 3 classes of spells: wizardry for intelligence, holy magic for wisdom, and witch stuff for charisma. nice and intuitive.
there's a page of 50 magic items each a couple sentences long. this PDF is worth it just for the magic items.
DOWNSIDE: see the downsides for knave 1e. all still apply.
i enjoyed grave so much i made a variant of it with the dark souls bits removed (and some dungeon crawl rules added!) to use for my standard fantasy campaigns.
Knave 2e
sadly knave 2e is not purchasable yet (i backed it on kickstarter so i have access, though). but when it comes out i highly recommend it.
much larger and denser than knave 1e. it finally has dungeon crawling rules, it has GM and player guidance, everything is refined and the layout is so so nice and readable.
combat is a bit more interesting than 1e. you can break your weapon against an enemy to deal max damage. you get a free maneuver on high attack rolls.
there's rules for stuff like alchemy, warfare, building a base. it all kicks ass.
there are so many goddamn tables. i rifle through it anytime i need inspiration.
DOWNSIDES: some of the new rules are a little untested & wonky. introducing randomness into how often your rations spoil or your lights go out can cause issues.
Mausritter
you play tiny little mice! in a world full of big dangerous things that want to eat mice. cat = dragon. you get it. what more could you want
the mouse thing is just super intuitive. you get the dynamic between you and the big scary lethal world. fantastic OSR game to introduce kids
nice and robust ruleset; nothing feels missing
tons of super nice GM stuff! faction rules, tools for rolling up hexcrawls and dungeons, plenty of tables
super clean readable layout. font isn't too small to avoid being intimidating. guidance is really nice and clear.
combat is autohit. super fast & lethal.
100% free
look mausritter is just. good. i wanna run it so bad someday
Worlds Without Number
sort of a middle ground between OSR stuff and 5e. paid version here free version here
lots of classes, at least in the paid version. the free version comes with just the warrior, expert and mage. there's feats and more of a focus on builds than most OSR games. if you like more mechanical build variety than a typical OSR game, this is a great game for you!
extremely good multiclassing. y'know how in most games if you just mash together two classes you think are cool you'll end up with a total mess? not here! every combo is viable and works fine! easily the best multiclassing of any game i've touched
an absurd amount of GM stuff and tables. easily more than any of the other stuff i've praised for also having them. but personally i haven't dug into them as much, so i can't really comment on them
skills the way modern D&D has them. you roll dice and try to beat a target number. i don't tend to like rolled skills, but most people do, so if that's your thing WWN has them
DOWNSIDES
the layout is terrible. everything is a huge wall of text with very little use of bold text or bullet points to draw attention to the important bits. the table of contents has like 15 things in it for a 400-page book! i couldn't find any of the paid-version-exclusive classes for like a month after i bought it! looking up rules is a nightmare.
the way the default setting handles "evil races" is like an exaggerated parody of all the problematic aspects of how D&D handles it. like, it wants so bad for you to have an excuse to genocide sentient free-willed people. but at least the default setting is easy to chuck in the trash
Dungeon Crawl Classics
the goal of this system is to take all of the crazy gonzo moments people remember playing old-school D&D in their childhood and turn all of that up to 11 while cutting the stuff that doesn't add to that. i think a lot of its innovations have ended up kind of standard in newer OSR stuff (like fighters getting maneuvers with their attacks), but it still has more to offer.
the funnel: you start the game with four randomly rolled dipshit peasants that you then throw into a meatgrinder to get horribly killed. you pick one of the survivors to be your 1st-level character.
maneuvers: fighters roll an extra die with each attack that gets bigger as you level. if it's a 3 or higher, you get to do a cool thing on top of your attack. pretty standard for OSR games, but this game popularized it!
crit tables: fighters also get more crits and nastier crits as they level. every crit, you roll on the crit table. maybe you chop off a dude's arm. maybe you just knock them over. maybe you shatter their shield. it's very cool
spell tables: i don't really like roll-to-cast mechanics, generally. but DCC goes so all-in on roll-to-cast that it still looks fun as hell to watch. you cast a fireball and maybe it goes how you want. or maybe you explode, or you nuke everything in a half-mile radius, or from now on you permanently ignite flammable materials you touch, or whatever. casters just have to put up with turning into a weird mutated mess across a campaign
there's no dungeon crawl rules, no encumbrance - this game is all about the big over-the-top wacky shit, and is not really interested in the more down-to-earth number crunching. it's more in the you-die-hilariously-all-the-time area of OSR than the you-avoid-death-through-clever-play area. not really my thing but the system knows exactly what it wants to be and i respect it
iron halberd
this one is mine! as the author i'm not qualified to tell you what isn't good about my system, so just assume it's worse than i make it sound, but here's a bunch of the selling points
semi-random character creation where you flip back and forth between rolling dice and getting your own input. roll stats, pick ancestry. pick starting gear kit, roll different dice based on which kit you picked. etc etc. stats are random but all equally viable (no rolling incredibly low or high stats). every time i run this game the character creation is a hit. seriously go roll up a character it'll sell you on the whole thing
you start out a lot stronger than a standard OSR character but grow way more slowly. i don't like 4th-level characters being 4 times as strong as 1st-level ones; HP never gets that high. emphasis is more on diegetic progression instead.
way too many subsystems for alchemy, crafting, strongholds, warfare, renown, rituals, likes 9 pages of magic items, a whole subsystem for becoming a cleric mid-campaign. i couldn't help myself i love this shit
in my current campaign we had a player permanently sacrifice some max HP to become a necromancer after deliberating on whether that's a good idea for like thirty seconds, which instantly made me think my necromancy system is a success
also free
Adventure recommendations
(in rough order of size)
Moonhill Garden (by Emiel Boven): look at this. look at it! this is like the best template for a little dungeon in an OSR game. all of the little factions are tied together. this would be a great oneshot to introduce people to an OSR system with.
A gathering of blades (by Ben Milton): a system-neutral, one-page sandbox. i ran this for an iron halberd game and it went super well. lasted like 7 sessions. highly recommend.
The Waking of Willowby Hall (by Ben Milton): a single dungeon with a million things going on. it's super chaotic with half a dozen different factions crashing into each other and a big angry goose. highly recommend, especially for kids
The Black Wyrm of Brandonsford (by Chance Dudinack): small sandbox with a fun fairytale vibe and a very fleshed-out little town. and a big nasty dragon.
Evils of Illmire (by Zack Wolf): this is a very dense, entire campaign's worth of hexcrawl in a very compact package for like $5. it doesn't do anything particularly new, but the value-for-money is absurd and it's a really good template for how to do a sandbox if you're used to 5e adventures
Ask me anything!
if anything here is unclear or intrigues you, send me asks! i love helping people get into OSR games. i'll link frequently asked questions here if i get any.

How do I write a stoic and serious character showing subtle signs of being romantically interested in someone? And how do I build it into something more? I have a few ideas on some subtle signs to write, giving extra care to their romantic interest, finding excuses to be around them... But I can't think of anything more without feeling like I am losing the characters' essence. They are not one to bare their emotions for others to see in general, so I imagine them subtle... But how to write it, and how to build it up from there is lost on me.
Stoic Character Falling in Love
There are lot of "subtle signs of interest and love" that shouldn't conflict with a stoic character:
-- stolen glances -- lingering looks -- eyes meeting, then darting away -- being tongue-tied when trying to interact -- voice cracking when trying to speak -- denying interest in other person when pressed (in early stages) -- awkwardness after accidental touching -- cracking smile/light chuckle after accidental touching -- speaking at the same time -- tentative touching -- finding ways to touch when intimate touch is restricted -- showing interest in learning about other person -- showing concern for other's well being -- giving meaningful gifts
As for building it into something more, being stoic just means that feelings are not openly shown, not that they aren't felt. Stoics also reserve emotion for things that really matter. They're not going to be moved by things (even on the inside) unless they're really important.
Love, one might argue, is one of the most important things. So your stoic character will most certainly feel all the emotions associated with falling in love, they're just not going to wear those feelings on their sleeve. That said, you're going to develop this relationship as you would any other... your stoic character just isn't going to be doing back flips off couches about it. :)
youtube
(Alan Rickman's portrayal of Jane Austen's stoic character Colonel Brandon is one of my favorites, and this video does a great job showing the budding relationship between him and Marianne Dashwood.)
Happy writing!

A Guide on Self-Development for Women
Hello, ladies! Self-development is a great way to build confidence and grow in life. I've put together a quick comprehensive guide to help women achieve their goals and become the best versions of themselves. Here are some steps to help you get started:
Set meaningful goals: Setting clear and achievable goals is an important first step in self-development. Take some time to identify what your goals are and create a plan to reach them. Having goals keeps you motivated and focused.
Develop a positive mindset: A positive attitude and outlook can help you stay focused on your goals and make progress. Start each day with an affirmation and focus on the good things in life. Celebrate the small wins just as much as you celebrate the big wins. A win is a win. Act accordingly.
Take time for self-care: Taking care of yourself is essential for physical and mental well-being. Practice self-care daily. Make sure to take time each day to do something that you enjoy and that relaxes you. Remember in every situation and setting you are your MAIN priority.
Stay organized: Being organized and having a plan for everything can help you stay productive and on top of things. Create a routine and stick to it to maximize your productivity. Use a planner or to-do list to keep track of your schedule. Organize by day, week, and month. This allows you to see the bigger picture while planning the specifics.
Develop your skills: Developing your skills and learning new things will help you stay ahead of the game and open up new opportunities. Look for classes and courses that interest you and make an effort to learn something new each day. Look at this as an investment. New skills, new money. Different skills, different bags.
Work on relationships: Building and maintaining healthy relationships is key to personal growth. Make an effort to stay in touch with family and friends, and be sure to nurture your most important relationships. On the other hand, do not feel forced to maintain toxic or unhealthy relationships. Relationships can be one of the greatest tools when it comes to networking. Both marketing and advertising can be impacted.
I honestly hope that this guide helps you on your journey to self-development and achieving your goals. This post's sole purpose was to inform the women in this community. Best of luck to all of you lovely ladies!

Ben's Big BL Blurb
I was traveling for a few weeks, and there's no way I'm doing individual posts for every show I've been watching, so here's my thoughts on all of the shows I'm currently enjoying, in the order I'm most enjoying them.
Twilight Out of Focus
This show is fucking excellent. I'm not that keen on taking a break from our leads to see other couples, but I do like that BL continues to be the way that these guys are figuring out they're attracted to each other. Mao moving so smoothly into his boyfriend era, and knowing how he's feeling, has been excellent. I also really loved Hisashi knowing they needed to not be together all the time.
The Trainee
Jane is so attractive, and I'm so happy for Off. This latest episode was a lot of fun to watch for Ryan, because it's nice seeing him be more actively engaged in things happening around him. Pai seems far more settled now that she knows she has a place. Pah is clearly still a mess. Tae seems like he's good at what he does. Ba-Mhee falling for Judy is NOT IDEAL, and Judy is over the line.
Overall, I'm actually interested in seeing them mirror interns crushing on their mentors with two different pairings as a point of comparison. I also like how every week feels like the work goals make sense.
The Miracle of Teddy Bear
Besties, so much is happening in this show. There is daddy drama, wife drama, dead son drama, and so much more! These episodes are so long, but I'm really engaged with everything happening on this show. Job and Inn are really fucking good in this.
I Hear the Sunspot
I'm so glad that Kohei made his feelings clear, and I'm enjoying seeing Taichi figure out how to respond to them. We once again had a camping trip that did not give me what I wanted, but I did like Kohei being clear that he's still interested in Taichi. Finally, I liked the little confirmations that Kohei is taking to sign, and that Taichi is interested in that journey.
Knock Knock, Boys!
I'm so proud of Best! He has played Peak in this restrained way for so long, and it paid off in this most recent episode. I love that this story started with a gay man running from himself and his feelings, who then realizes that he can't run away from people who care about him anymore because they won't let him. I love that everyone being patient with him gave him what he needed to finally accept himself and say what he needed. I've really loved the way Thanwa tries to support Peak.
I'm also overjoyed for Almond and Latte, and I need them to fuck nasty before this show ends or I will be so disappointed. Latte is quietly one of my blorbos of the year with the way he is always clear about who he is and what he wants even as he is okay with where Almond is in the moment. They're an excellent pair.
Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko
RISA IS OFF THE BESTIE LIST FOREVER! I will never forgive her for outing Hiroko to Ayaka just so she could ask Ayaka to choose her instead. Also, fuck those Bettys at the bar, who definitely know Hiroko's business, and that she's not out at work. Why talk about her to a stranger who called her senpai?? I'm relieved that Hiroko knows that Ayaka likes women now, and am curious how we move forward at this point.
I also need to know who this woman was who hurt Hiroko, because nothing makes me sadder than when we have to hide from other queers.
Mr. Mitsuya's Planned Feeding
Thanks to @isaksbestpillow I was actually able to start this on my trip. I didn't want to start a show on a trip, but I could not resist. I really love that Ishida is in his late 20s and struggling with direction and purpose after his initial plan blew up in his face. I love that he's recognized so quickly that he's developed feelings for Mitsuya-sensei, and I love that Mitsuya-sensei is open about who he is. It's about goddamned time that we saw an age gap story of this kind, because so many meaningful relationships I've had are with gay men older than me.
Takara's Treasure
This quiet little show makes me so happy every week. I just desperately need for Taishin to figure out what he's feeling, and for people to help him realize what he's feeling. Takara's my favorite kind of pretty boy: the ones who are obviously and poorly masking incredibly turmoil. I love that Taishin sees through this and wants to help Takara. Excited for him to get to take care of him when Takara gets sick.
Century of Love
I've been having a lot of fun with this show, but episode 8 felt like a huge wobble. I love that San was so committed to Vee the whole time, but the back and forth about the stone was tedious. San giving up the stone as a way to signify that he was over the memory of Vad was nice, but we didn't reconcile Vee's theft and the emotional cost of that.
Love Sea
MAHASAMUT!! WE FINALLY BEAT THAT NASTY OLD MAN'S ASS!! Mut trampling over a bullshit breakup and kicking Rak's dad's ass instead was so satisfying that it almost makes up for Mut having little identity outside of his relationship to Rake, or the terrible arc that Mook and Vie are having, over the last few weeks. I have been playing Stomp for the last few hours because I needed them to kick that man. Mut did not hit him enough.
New Shows
There's a bunch of stuff I have to sort out over the next few days. I'm not going back to My Love Mix Up TH, but I do plan to start 4 Minutes. There's also another J-BL in the grey I got some help finding called Sugar Dog Life.
Shout out to @lurkingshan for helping me watch a few things while I was gone, and also @twig-tea for keeping me apprised of which new shows I probably need to pick up.

rewrite the stars II Salma Paralluelo x Gymnast!Reader
masterlist I word count: 2472
pairings: Salma Paralluelo x Gymnast!Reader (romantic), Barcelona FemenĂ x Reader (platonic)
You clapped your hands together. Chalk powder floated through the air around you.
One more deep breath.
It was almost time for you to go on the balance beam.
You were used to high-pressure situations but competing at the Olympics for Team USA was a whole new experience. You were basically living your childhood dream.
The usual mixture of nervousness and excitement spread through your body, leaving you with the perfect amount of adrenaline for your performance.
You looked up towards the audience. The atmosphere was amazing, but you were trying to spot your family somewhere in the crowd. Instead, another familiar face stared down at you.
A face that you hadnât seen in years. Like a ghost coming back to haunt you.
All your focus was gone in the span of a few seconds.
âWhatâs wrong, y/n? You look like youâve seen a ghost.â, Simone Biles teased you.
You turned towards your teammate: âSomething like this. There is someone in the crowd that I used to know.â
Simone looked unimpressed: âThereâs always someone you know in the crowd. If this person isnât in your life anymore, they had their reasons.â
âI wonder why Salma is here though. Sheâs not listed under sprintersâŠâ, you wondered, talking more to yourself than to the other gymnast.
Simone squeezed your shoulder tightly, seemingly impatient: âWhat does it matter? Focus on your performance.â
You sighed: âYouâre right. As alwaysâŠâ
âThatâs why you should always listen to me.â, she joked.
With a smile, you moved to make way for her: âLetâs get started. Ladies first.â
She passed you with a cheeky grin: âYou mean age before beauty.â
âOh, thatâs a lie. Youâre beautiful.â, you laughed as you walked behind her towards the apparatus.
Simone rolled her eyes: âStop flattering me. You still have to go on the beam first.â
You stretched your legs one more time: âOh, I can assure you Iâm ready for it. Hope the competition is too.â
âWeâll see.â Simone teased but smiled like a proud mum at your confidence.
âYou better start believing.â, you winked at her before shifting your attention towards the balance beam.
Happy with your performance, your teammates pulled you into a hug.
Once again, your gaze wandered towards the stands without your permission.
Simone elbowed you in the side: âNot bad. Now stop staring up there.â
âIâm not.â, you protested.
âI saw it.â
You played innocent: âNo, you didnât see anything. Itâs almost your turn.â
âSure.â
You playfully pushed her forward: âCome on, superstar!â
âStop distracting me.â, she complained with a laugh.
You grinned at her: âGo!â
Meanwhile in the stands, Onaâs mouth dropped wide open amazed from what her eyes witnessed.
âSalma, the female gymnasts are all so impressive especially the girl you know, sheâs so small and yet so powerful.â, she gushed.
A mild smile crossed the forwards face, the Catalan defender was usually one of the tiniest players on the pitch, but you were even a few centimetres below her, so it was no wonder she remarked on your height.
âGymnastics is such an insane sport. I always loved watching.â, Salma told her while admiring you from the safe distance.
This was true; however, you were her favourite gymnast to watch, with your twenty years old you were one of the older in the competition, but you had an elegance to your moves which couldnât be matched by most of them. And you were even beautifier when the young woman from Zaragoza remembered.
âItâs so cool!â, Vicky exclaimed excitedly.
âI know, right? Thereâs so much work behind this.â, Salma explained to her two teammates who joined her on their free day to see the Gymnastics.
âAnd you met her during your hurdle race days?â, Ona asked curiously.
âYes, exactly. I had some time to waste before my race and went to watch it.â, the forward nodded. She was reminiscing on that meaningful which was factual not that long ago but felt like it was a lifetime away.
It was hot in the hall that day, you were satisfied with your performance, and you caught a breathtakingly gorgeous girl staring at you.
Despite your height difference you were the one who took the first step and started talking to her.
âEnjoyed the show, runner girl?â, you questioned the tall athlete with a teasing smile on your lips.
âHow do you know that I run.â, Salma raised an eyebrow in surprise.
âThat was easy, youâre tall and athletic.â, you shrugged.
âEveryone here is tall and athletic, I could also be a basketballer.â, the Spaniard stated smiling amused.
âOkay to be honest it was just a wild guess and not everyone is tall here.â, you confessed sighing.
âEveryone except for you.â, she mocked you grinning.
Oh, of course the pretty girl was making a remark about this, still you knew that your small height didnât stop you from doing show stopping things.
âYou couldnât take your eyes off of me while I was doing my exercises.â, you reminded her.
âOh, wow. I was just watching.â, Salma laughed in disbelief. Secretly she was impressed by your self-confidence. Did this come along with being in team USA who was dominating this sport? This was a question the racer would like to ask you at some point.
You smirked at her, taking her in once more: âSee you.â
But before you could leave, a sudden thought let you pause. You turned back towards her: âWait⊠I donât even know your name. Or should I stick with runner girl?â
âItâs Salma.â, the tall girl said politely, unimpressed by your teasing.
You nodded once: âSo, see you Salma.â
âIâll come watch your competition.â
Again, she kept your from leaving. You raised an eyebrow at her: âAgain? Sounds like Iâve to see you run now too.â
Salma bit back a grin, playing innocent: âI mean the race is later today if you got nothing better to do.â
âIâll be there. Maybe dinner afterwards?â
Your bold suggestion seemed to throw her off a bit. She caught herself quickly, a smile appeared on her lips: âIs this a date?â
âOnly if you want it to be.â, you grinned back at her.
Salma seemed to think about the option for a second: âLetâs stick with dinner and weâll decide then.â
âWeâve a deal.â
âSee you later then.â, she said, turning around and leaving the hall.
You had to hold back your excitement. It wasnât often that you met someone who matched your energy like she did.
You watched as Simone finished up on the uneven bars. She was the last one. Your team had already qualified for the finals, as expected when you had one of the worldâs best gymnasts on your team.
But there was no time to celebrate yet.
You stood there in your sparkling leotard watching the familiar face from the stands approach while your teammates impatiently waited for you.
There was nothing you could do about the anger rising in your chest. The feelings of loneliness and helplessness bubbling up, feelings that you had learned to associate with the young woman in front of you.
âYou! What are you doing here?â, you snapped at her.
You noticed your teammates going quiet behind you.
Salma fearlessly took another step towards you. âI saw that you were competing⊠and I wanted to see you.â
âOh, sure. You thought it would be okay to come here after years of radio silence? I tried to find you for years, but it was like you just vanished. It was like I spent an unforgettable summer with a ghost, with a person who didnât exist! â
You wanted to sound angrier, even more powerful but you were exhausted. You were tired after all the time you tried to find an explanation for her disappearance. She had left and you had to come to terms with it.
This time, Salma looked a bit taken aback, her pretty face contorted into a frown: âWhat do you mean? I was always right there! I didnât disappear.â
You wanted to scream. She couldnât possibly be serious about this.
âYou stopped texting! You forgot about me⊠and us!â
There were no tears, just pure adrenaline-fueled anger.
âI never stoppedâŠshit. I changed my number back then, I must have forgotten to give you my new one.â, the tall woman realized aghast.
âOh, of course, thatâs a bad lie for ghosting a person.â, you snapped at her.
âIf I had been ghosting you, would I be here?!â, Salma shot back, looking hurt.
âProbably not.â, you admitted wearied.
âAlso why did you never try to find me?!â, your former girlfriend continued madly.
âI told you I tried, but you stopped participating in hurdle competitions, so it basically was impossible to find you!â, you replied through gritted teeth.
âNo one told you that I left track to focus on football?â, the forward shook her head unbelievingly.
âYou did what?â
âI only play football now.â, she explained matter-of-factly.
âCome on, y/n, we got to go.â, Simone intervened clearing her throat.
âIâm coming.â, you assured the gymnast before turning your attention back to your ex-lover.
âGood for you.â,
âI..â, Salma began helplessly.
âGoodbye, Salma.â, you muttered. However, she wasnât ready to bid farewell.
âDonât go yet, I donât know when Iâll see again.â, the football player requested, there was an urgency to her ask.
âSeems like these girls are waiting for you though. Is the freckled one your girlfriend?â, you nodded in the direction of the women who appeared to belong to her.
âWhat? No. Those are my teammates, nothing else.â, the Spaniard denied heavily.
âAnd they came to watch with you? Cute.â, you commented sarcastically.
âI told them about you, so they wanted to get to know you.â, she revealed.
âOh, they did?â, you looked surprised at her.
âBut itâs fine, we were about to leave anyway. Just wanted to see you.â, Salma answered disappointedly.
âWhy now?â, you wanted to know from her, seeing the woman again who broke your heart was a lot for you to process.
âBecause I didnât have the chance before this tournament.â, the forward responded truthfully.
The honesty in her voice made you pause; your anger has blown off a little.
âWhen are your football games? I assume youâre in that, maybe I take a look at your new sport.â
âWeâre playing tomorrow.â, she informed you.
âSalma would be so happy if you could make it to the match.â, Ona interjected smiling.
âOna!â, your former lover rolled her eyes annoyed. Â
âIs that true?â, you glanced curiously at her.
âGirl, are you blind? Sheâs still very much into you.â, Vicky chuckled.
âIf sheâs into her, she should have come forward a long time ago.â, you heard Simone say next to you.
You were a bit surprised by that revelation so you were grateful that Simone took over. You absolutely adored how even at her height, she was always the fiercest in every room.
âTime to go.â, you said quietly.
Simone took your hand into hers and dragged you a step back with her: âYes, come on.â
Salma handed you something, her face serious. Without thinking you took the small folded piece of paper.
âThatâs my new number.â, she explained.
You said nothing, just slipped the note into your leotard and left.
The three football players walked out of the hall in silence.
âDo we think sheâll be there tomorrow?â, Vicky asked innocently.
Ona nodded determinedly: âYeah, absolutely.â
âGirls.â, Salma said with a half-smile, trying to get them to stop.
Vicky ignored her: âI say sheâs not showing up. She was pissed.â
âWeâll see.â, Salma shrugged.
When Salma stepped on the pitch the next day and looked up at the stands, she was not surprised to see you sit there.
It was almost the same situation as the day before, just this time your roles were reversed. She was the performer, you the spectator.
âSheâs hereâŠâ, Salma said to no one in particular
With a smile Ona snuck up to her and whispered: âI told you.â
âShe still looks pissed though or is it just the sunglasses?â, Vicky asked, laughing.
All three stared up at you while you glared at them from your seat.
âNope, sheâs pissed.â, Salma noted and turned away from the stands to go warm up.
You watched the game attentively. Salma was as fast as she was a few years ago, sprinting across the pitch like it was all she ever wanted to do and you had to admit that she played with such lightness and ease, it was almost exciting. Her decision to switch to football started to make sense to you.
Once the game was over and she was celebrating with your team, you made your way further down towards the pitch, just like she had the previous day.
She immediately jogged over as spotted you.
âNot a bad game, SalmaâŠâ, you said calmly.
A smile tugged on the football players lips: âThanks. Itâs nice that you came to watch.â
âHow is it? To play in a team now instead of being on your own?â
She paused for a moment. You could see in her eyes that she thought about what kind of answer to give you.
âItâs different. But I like this a lot more.â, she finally said.
You nodded slowly: âYes, you looked happy on the pitchâŠâ
âI feel like football gives me a lot more. I bet you get that.â, Salma smiled shily.
âYes, I like it too when we compete as a team.â, you agreed beaming.
âI remember that.â, the football player responded fondly.
âYou remember a lot.â, a slight blush crept upon your cheeks.
âI do.â, she confessed.
âLike I meant something to you.â, you added nervously.
âBecause it means a lot to me.â, Salma remarked earnestly.
âTo me too but you broke my heart.â, you sighed deeply.
âI never meant too.â, the forward insisted, looking deep into your eyes hoping youâd believe her.
You closed your eyes for a moment, your head was screaming all the reasons you shouldnât say what you were about to, but you decided to listen to your heart instead.
âYou can invite me to dinner and when weâll see if I give another chance.â, you declared with a cocky smile.
âYou know, I think that sounds like a deal. Let me just take a shower.â, Salma winked.
âIâll be waiting outside.â, you announced to her.
It didnât take long for her to come back to you. âAlright, Iâm ready.â
âLetâs go.â, you chirmed.
For now, you didnât know where this reunion would take you both. Nonetheless if gymnastic taught you one thing itâs always to take one step at a time. And right now, it was a pretty woman and you walking along the Seine. It was getting dark, the lights off the Eiffel tower were about to turn on.

Traintober 2024: Day 14 - Screech
Before Sodor:
When he came out of the works, James was a very different engine to the one who went in. The regular, boring, utilitarian Class 28 who had been pushed in was gone, and out came a prototype. Hughes classified James as a âClass 29â.
âYouâre a very special engine,â Mr Hughes said, watching on as James was fired for the first time. âIâm hoping your rebuild will bring all the successes I am hoping for.â That made James feel very special. Heâd been plucked at random from his shed for the overhaul, chosen from in amongst a group of twelve of his class, as well as another six Class 27s whoâd been doing their absolute best to be picked. But it had been James; of all the engines on the entire railway, it had been James.
âIâll do you proud, sir!â chirped James excitedly. Mr Hughes smiled gently, and stepped to one side to continue to watch the proceedings. James was carefully steamed up, his slightly larger boiler warming quickly. Every part of him felt new and precision machined. His firebox was large and his cylinders strong; his superheater warmed him right through and left James practically bursting with the need to get out of the workshop and prove himself. His fire burned brightly, his steam pressure shot up. The men grinned as James easily passed all their tests, the foreman marking off boxes on his list with the smallest hint of a smile.
James felt his brakes being taken off, and then his regulator being very slowly opened, prompting him to hiss steam as he inched forwards. But as the brakes were put back on with an odd screeching noise. James frowned.
âSomething feels a bit off, sir,â he said slowly. âWhat brakes was I fitted with?â The foreman winced out of Jamesâ view, and went to speak only for Mr Hughes to place a firm hand on his shoulder. The Chief Mechanical Engineer shook his head slowly, a dark look in his eyes.
âItâs a new design!â Mr Hughes called out. âWe want to test these before we give them to other engines, and considering how much stronger we hope youâll be, you seemed like the best engine to trial them on. They do screech a bit though, but donât be alarmed.â James beamed!
âOh sir! I knew I was going to be special. Look at me â donât I look smart!â âYou look very nice in our livery,â agreed Mr Hughes politely. âNow we need to start running tests. Your crew and the inspector will take it from here.â With one final meaningful look at the foreman, Mr Hughes placed his hat atop his head and strode away.
James didnât watch him go, his eyes instead set on the trucks and coaches that littered the yard. âI canât wait!â grinned James, feeling his driver open his regulator once more after taking off his special brakes. They started him off on some light shunting duties, testing out his response to the controls. In the distance, a foreign whistle blasted through the works as another freight train blasted through at speed. James raised an eyebrow.
âWhoâs that?â he asked. âWe donât usually get outsiders here.â âThe railway is trialling a foreign engine to see how they could adapt it,â the inspector replied clinically. James hummed, considering the new information before continuing his shunting. Every time he braked, his brakes screeched, and he slid just a little more than usual.
âInspector,â James began slowly after the ninth time, âthese brakes seem a bit weak. Why donât they stop me sooner?â The three men in Jamesâ cab shared looks out of his line of sight. They seemed to have a silent conversation in the span of several seconds, before the inspector finally responded.
âTheyâre a dynamic brake,â he said carefully. âTheyâre a little slower to apply, but they are made of an extremely strong material that wonât wear out as much.â
James felt better after that. Had he been even a little older, he wouldnât have accepted the reply as easily â after a certain period of time, most engines grew a sort of sixth sense around their motion. They could detect if something was wrong easily, and work to fix it. James had barely seen his second year in service when he was unceremoniously picked to be rebuilt; his youth had made him a prime choice. The older engines whispered about unification and grouping in the back of the sheds, thinking their shed masters were unaware that they knew of what was brewing. In return, their shed masters did their best to hide the full extent of the truth and quash the rumours.
James was ignorant to it all as he was rigorously tested. He worked hard at everything: he banked trains some days, hauled freight on others, and even pulled a couple of fast passenger trains! Each day brought another checkmark on the inspectorâs form, and each night brought a new shed with unfamiliar faces. James never slept at the same shed two nights in a row. He went all over the network, seeing all the sights and meeting many engines.
None of them said much to him.
âGood evening!â James would try, only to get a lot of side-eye and subtle glances. James thought they were too impressed with him to speak! Or at least, he did at first. As the days stretched out into months and nothing changed, James began to feel the looks more acutely. The other engines werenât impressed. They werenât jealous of his potentially revolutionary design or the way that Mr Hughes sometimes came specifically to see him. They werenât envious of how James got a special number and they werenât in awe of how smart he looked.
They just didnât like him. They thought him an imposter, an oddity. A weird Frankensteinâs engine made of a unique boiler, an unusual pony truck and unconventional brakes that just wouldnât stop screeching whenever James tried to stop. James figured the screeching had to be from the metal brakes clamping against his steel wheels.
The screeching came from his wheels sliding along the rails. Â
Seasons changed. James wasnât invited into sheds as often anymore, sitting out in dirty old sidings in between the endless trials. They hadnât ended, though James wondered if that was because he was succeeding and they wanted data in the wet and cold and maybe even the snow if it dragged on long enough⊠or if he was failing.
The foreign engine was still around somewhere too. James never saw it, but he heard it. When down south, heâd discovered that the whistle belonged to the Great Western Railway, which ran along the distant south-west coast of England. The few engines of that railway that he managed to see looked very smart, with dark green paint and great brass safety valve bonnets that shone like spun gold in the sun. They all looked very sleek and impressive â James felt gangly next to them. But when he asked about the foreign engine, he was always redirected away from an answer.
Winter came, and with it the rumour mill grew louder. Finally, James learnt an uncomfortable truth: the railways were being grouped together into four. When he heard, he asked Mr Hughes what it would mean â Mr Hughes didnât reply, and instead booked James in for a general service.
The foreign engine left before the year was out, but James spent Christmas in the works sleeping to stave off the cold while the men switched out his brakes. Apparently, they werenât working as well as hoped, but the trials were being extended to get an idea on what that meant.
The inspector no longer went everywhere with James. Instead, he turned up once a week and asked James weird vague and cagey questions before leaving again. Sometimes it was even a different inspector, especially as James was shuffled around again, heading further inland and into the territory of their rivalâno, former rivals. James wasnât part of a company that rivalled the old Midland Railway anymore. He was part of a company with them.
The Midland passenger engines had very shiny paint. They didnât have the same gorgeous brass that the Great Western engines had, but instead they had the most eye-catching red paint James had ever seen! It was glorious â it sparkled in the sun and was vibrant even in the pouring rain.
James remained in black. His lining was neglected, and it slowly faded away. James wondered when heâd get a repaint. He had been hurried rebranded as being part of the new âLMSâ with an equally new number, but that had been done in under a day by a trio of bored-looking men. The new number sat stark on Jamesâ tender, and he instantly hated it.
James only pulled trucks and shunted now. He didnât get to pull fast trains or passengers or go lots of different places now. Instead, he was assigned to a shed in the middle of nowhere along a busy line, sleeping in a dirty berth on a dirty siding in between unimportant mineral trains from one junction to another. Monotony crept in slowly, James completely forgetting about his abnormal brakes and becoming immune to the screech they made when he stopped. Every day was the same, every journey the same. The Midland engines didnât speak to the L&YR reject, steering well clear even as they slowly opened up to their old rivals.
And then one day, a new engine arrived at Jamesâ shed. It was a design heâd seen dotted about, and it looked like a stronger version of his old class.
âIâm here to take over,â the engine grunted. James balked. âBut what am I to do?â he spluttered. âI donât know mate,â sneered the engine. âMaybe youâre timeâs up. Thereâs rumblings in the factory that they finally finished the mogul design.â The engine looked James over, and snorted. âOh, youâre the rejected design they built. Poor thing, thereâs not much left for you now Hughes is retiring.â
James was rendered speechless for just long enough for the new engine to shunt some of the trucks into a line.
âIâm not a reject!â he exclaimed. âIâm the prototype! The class is based on me you nitwit â my designâs the future of this company.â The engine just chuckled, looking James over once more, before his eyes darted to Jamesâ brakes.
âOh yes, very revolutionary indeed,â he snorted, and puffed away. James was coupled up to some vans needing repairs, and dragged away from the shed heâd been forced to come to know as his home. He went far further than ever before, making his way well over halfway across the country. He was stopped in an unfamiliar workshop that bustled with hundreds of men and machines to have his LMS number unceremoniously scraped off, before being sent on again the next day. This time, he had a short train of trucks behind him. It grew steadily as he went, as did Jamesâ temper.
âGet in line you stupid things!â he snapped, bumping the trucks harshly as he clattered along what felt like a double-tracked branchline to James. All the engines along the line were being withdrawn and replaced with yet more of the same smug class of tender engine that had stolen Jamesâ job and home. James wondered if he was being drawn towards a scrapyard, tucked away at the end of this line.
Then he passed by an immense empty iron train, and realisation struck. He was in Cumbria. This had to be the famed Furness Railway that heâd heard of one night while in being trialled up in the north. Despite being such a small line, itâs massive industrial traffic kept it independent from the giants baying at its doors.
And look how well that worked out.
James arrived at Barrow-in-Furness with a long line of trucks, a screech of his brakes and a furious temper. His crew stepped down. âSorry old boy,â sighed his driver, âbut this is us. Your new crew will take you from here.â James stared at his driver like heâd lost his mind.
âWhat new crew? What is happening, driver?! I just lost my shed, Iâve been dragged halfway across the country and I'm surrounded by these smug Midlanders! Tell me what is going on!â Jamesâ driver sighed, taking his cloth cap in his hands and squeezing it.
âMr Hughes is being replaced soon,â his driver admitted quietly. âHeâs decided to leave the company. Mr Fowler is taking over, and heâs agreed with the directors to sell you to the North Western Railway as part of a special agreement theyâre making.â James blinked, stunned.
âThe What Railway?â he asked slowly. âWait⊠the No-Where Railway?! Theyâre⊠theyâre⊠theyâre getting rid of me?! But Iâm meant to be the prototype! What, so theyâre just going to use some other mogul design?!â His driver winced. A little shunting engine nearby looked over, perplexed.
âDidnât your lot decide to base it off a Caley design that was influenced by those Westerners? The 4300 lot.â James went silent, unable to think of anything to say. He was stunned.
A new crew clambered into Jamesâ cab and set off. James was silent as he crossed over the points and onto his new railway. Heâd been sold off. Heâd been sold off because he was a failure. His brakes screeched as his crew braked to slow at a signal. The trucks bumped and clattered behind him, hissing and grumbling.
âWhatâs that noise?â quizzed Jamesâ new driver. James sighed.
âThoseâre my brakes. Theyâre made of some special metal Mr Hughes wanted to test. They didnât end up working as well, but Iâve still got them.â The crew shared a confused look inside Jamesâ cab, but pressed on.
At Vicarstown, an old âAmericanâ design from the Furness Railway was shunting in the yard as James rumbled in and began shunting trucks on and off of his slow goods train. The old engine winced at the screech Jamesâ brakes made, then looked up and smiled warmly.
âHullo! Iâm Edward, whoâre you?â â12620,â came the bitter reply. âEdwardâ chuckled softly, rolling over to help with the shunting. âNot your number, your name,â Edward said. âIâm James,â said James quietly. âBut only I call myself that.â âWell Iâll call you that too,â promised Edward firmly. Jamesâ crew were quick to agree with the bright blue engine. James didnât like the colour â it was too similar to Caledonian blue. The same Caledonian that stole his classesâ future with their mogul design.
The pair talked for a little, Edward warning James about the steeper gradients beyond Kellsthorpe Road as he helped the former LMS engine reshunt his slow goods to be easier to separate as the various stations along the NWR. James bumped his trucks roughly as he prepared to set off again. Edward heard the screech of Jamesâ brakes again, and looked down. His eyes practically bulged out of his smokebox in shock.
âJames, whyâve you got wooden brakes?!â exclaimed Edward. James snorted. âTheyâre not wood, theyâre a special metal,â he replied harshly. Edward was about to say more when the signal dropped. James snorted away, continuing down the surprisingly steep mainline towards Crovanâs Gate. And Edward had called this the âgentleâ part of the mainline!
Crovanâs Gate was their works station. It also had a tiny little railway on a ledge above the mainline which skuttled about its own yard before vanishing off under a bridge. A tiny little engine with a nameplate declaring him to be âRheneasâ was dozing in the sun beside the line. James screeched to a stop beside the little engine with trucks to be unloaded for the little railway. Rheneas jumped!
âYou sound like you need your brakes checked,â Rheneas said. His accent was thicker than anything James had ever heard â it sounded faintly Welsh, but with Manx and maybe Scots in it? James wasnât sure what to call it. âTheyâre a special metal,â James replied darkly. âYou all keep asking me like my designer wouldnât give me the strongest brakes he had.â Rheneas looked confused, but said nothing until James was back at the head of his train. Then, he spotted Jamesâ brakes.
âBut⊠those are wood,â he said carefully. James let off steam furiously. âTHEY ARE NOT WOODEN!â he roared. Birds scattered from their trees. âI am sick of hearing that! Leave me alone!â bellowed James, storming off with screeching trucks in tow. The trucks were aggravated, annoyed, tired and then James had insulted Rheneas, one of the nicest engines on the island.
They had seen Jamesâ brakes; they knew the truth. And they knew exactly what to do to prove it to James tooâŠ

How to Leave Comments on Fanfiction
So, I recently made a poll to know if people might find it helpful to have a list of things they could talk about when leaving comments on fanfictions, be it on Ao3 or on here. A majority of people were interested in seeing the post so, well, I'm making it. I started writing and posting stuff online when I was a teenager, on a website where leaving constructive criticism was the norm. It's by far the place where I've gotten the most feedback and it was an incredibly formative experience for me as a young writer â and it taught me how to leave detailed comments.
Writing comments doesn't necessarily come easy. It's something that you may need to learn how to do, but the good news is that you can learn how to do it, so don't worry if you don't know what to say at first. Hopefully this list will give you some pointers on how to do that.
This is more or less the list I go through when I want to leave a detailed comment. Even if I don't have a specific idea at first, I'll go through the steps and I never come out empty-handed.
Comment etiquette:
What became apparent with the poll I made was that a lot of people worry about how they'll be perceived by the writers if they leave a comment. Now, obviously, writers aren't a monolith, but 99% of the time writers will be thrilled that you took the time to leave a comment to let them know what you enjoyed in their fic. I cannot stress this enough. We're not going to judge someone based on a positive comment they leave.
As it stands, on Tumblr and Ao3, it's seen as rude to leave negative feedback, unless the author has explicitly asked for it/agreed to it, so that's what I'll be going over here. Since quite a few writers did say on that post that they would like to get constructive comments as well, stay tuned, I'm trying to get something together to do that for authors. Other than that, you're good to go.
The main ways to let an author know your thoughts on a fic on Tumblr are:
reblogging a fic with your thoughts underneath it
reblogging with your thoughts in the tags, which is often less formal
leaving a comment as a 'reaction'
sending in an ask if they're activated on the blog (which means you can stay anonymous, if anon asks are allowed)
Reblogging means that your followers will see the post as well, and is therefore really appreciated on Tumblr.
As a note, you may find different systems work for different fics! Maybe leaving tag rambles works for you when commenting on drabbles, for example for me it's the system I use to leave comments on smut.
General advice:
Everything I'm saying in here is for people who want to be able to leave longer/more detailed comments and don't always know where to start. If, for whatever reason, you're not comfortable or you don't have time to do it at the moment, a simple "I love the fic, thank you for writing it" always goes a long way for an author.
The key thing to keep in mind if you're trying to find something else to say, I think, is to try making the comment specific to the fic you're leaving it on. It shows the writer what you took away from the fic and the fic's strong points, which is both meaningful and helpful to an author.
Comments don't have to be long to be meaningful. Don't stress about writing a ton; a one-sentence comment highlighting the fic's humor or how emotional it made you can be incredibly impactful.
With this out of the way, I'll go through things you can talk about in a comment, starting with what I think is the easiest and moving on to things that could require more thought. You don't have to do all of that. You may never use some of the things on that list. Leaving comments should not be a source of anxiety. So take what you want from the list, maybe come back to it if you need more inspiration, and don't worry too much about it :)
Favorite line(s) : pull from the fic to let the author know what your favorite line was. If you wish, you can expand on that by saying why it was your favorite: did it make you laugh? Did it make you feel something specific? Did the author nail the characterization with it? Was there some incredible metaphor? Did you find it beautiful or poetic even if you can't go into detail? Is there one line in particular at the beginning of the fic that hooked you in and made you want to keep reading?
All of that is very valuable for a writer to know. Some of my favorite comments I've gotten were a list of a reader's favorite lines from a fic with one or two sentences to explain why they liked them, so don't hesitate to do that more than once if you can!
Emotions: Â if thereâs one thing I know about writers, itâs that weâre thrilled when weâve made you cry. So tell us: how did the writing make you feel? Did you laugh out loud? If you did, was it the dialogue, or the narrator? Did it make you cry? Which part? Could you relate to one of the characters? Did it make you feel seen? Did the fluff make you feel all fuzzy inside or did the angst twist knots in your stomach? This isn't an exhaustive list, and emotions are great to draw from when you're leaving a comment!
Favorite element of the writing: Is there one thing in the writing that struck you as being particularly good, or what was your favorite thing to read? Is the author a master at writing dialogue? Are their descriptions so good you could see the whole scene? Are they really good at getting in a character's head and describing their emotions? Were you hooked from the start and couldn't stop until you reached the end?
Characterization: Now, this might be less instinctive, but if you've been in a fandom for a while, you'll probably be able to identify these things fairly easily. You can tell the author if you think they've nailed one aspect of a character. Did you have a favorite character in the fic? What did you think of them? Did the author manage to capture their voice? Was the attitude spot-on? Which parts of the character, if you can name them? Were there aspects of the character you particularly enjoyed? Did the author shine a light on something you hadn't considered or on something you don't think is highlighted often enough? Is there one thing from the fic you can actually picture/hear a character doing/saying in your head?
Style: I'd argue this is the hardest part, and you shouldn't feel bad if it's not something you can really comment on. As someone whose first language isn't English, I know I struggle with it. Style can be perceived as the way the author's voice comes through in the text. It can come through in punctuation, in the way sentences are formed, in the choice of the words themselves. If, when you read, you feel something intangible that doesn't fit well in the other categories, it just might be the author's style.
Here are some things (non-exhaustive list, of course) you could say about an author's style: it can be direct, straight to the point. The author doesn't bother with ornaments. Every sentence feels impactful. Maybe the writing feels intense. You're overwhelmed by the characters and their feelings and you feel truly engulfed in the story. Maybe the style is light and airy. It's so easy to read you don't even notice you are reading. Maybe the writing is intricate. Going through it is like piecing a puzzle together, sentences are foreshadowing and metaphors reveal deep truths about the characters. Maybe the style is rich. While not always the easiest, it's a pleasure to read through it, the author has a wide vocabulary, and you might want to compare it to a well-written novel.
If you identify specific elements of that style (metaphors, interesting use of punctuation, etc.), don't hesitate to point them out and let the author know you enjoy them!
That is it for this post, hopefully it doesn't look too daunting â again, you absolutely do not need to do all that in any comment, but maybe going through this list can help you leave comments for authors you enjoy.
I like to end my comments with 'Thank you for writing and sharing this with us', so I'll tell you thank you for reading, I hope this was helpful, and please consider reblogging if you'd like to save this or if you think it could help someone else!
As a bonus, my friend @elidebrey and I (but mostly her) made a 'checklist' for commenting, to help remember all this if that's something you'd like, so use at will!
A big thank you to @elidebrey, @yoongihan and @antoniorhinothethird for their precious opinions on this â„

Real or Not Real?
Miguel OâHara x Reader
Plot: You need a plus one for a wedding. Who better than your boss and perhaps the most hated person on your list.
Genre: PG-13, Enemies to Lovers (I would like to think sođŹ)
A/N: Iâm on a roll. Also, I always wanted to do this trope! This is longer than usual. Reblogs and feedback appreciated!đ
âShit!â Your phone bounces off the bed, landing inches away from another expensive repair.
âWhatâs wrong?â Jessica Drew looks up from the self help book that she was currently engaged in.
âAn old classmate. I totally forgot about the wedding!â You groan, feet becoming more fidgety by the second.
âRight⊠and would you care to explain why you look like one of Norman Osbornâs pumpkins?â Your best friend looks at you cautiously, as if like you were a volcano waiting to explode any second.
âWell, she used to be great with everyone in school. Canât say the same about myself.â You winced internally at the memories about your youth. âYou know how it is. Everyone is either rich, successful or in love once they leave school.â
âOr maybe all three.â Jessica adds helpfully much to your chagrin.
âThanks, Jess.â You refrain from rolling your eyes. âAnyways, the chat group got reignited and some genius started asking about âthe girl who everyone always see but doesnât really knowâ and before I know it, everyone starts pestering me about how Iâm doing!â You throw your hands dramatically in the air and Jessica canât help but to look amused. âSo?â
âSo, I kinda told them that I have a reallyhotboyfriend.â The last few words are mashed into one big mess but still clear enough for Jessica to pick up. âYou what now?â
Smelling the judgement from a mile away, you hang your head in defeat. âI know! Iâm an idiot! I couldnât help myself okay? This is what happens when you attend a private all girlsâ school. You stand out for being weird and suddenly The Plastics start making your entire school life hell.â
âThe Plastics?â
âItâs a movie reference.â
âWhy am I not surprised.â Jessica chuckles. âSo what now girl? Howâs damage control going?â
âTerrible.â You splat face first into the pillow. âI was thinking of getting help from the guys butâŠâ You hold up four fingers, ticking them off one by one. âPavitr canât pretend, Hobieâ too unpredictable, Miles is too young and Peterâs married with a child - a fact I canât ignore even if this is fake.â
Jessica looks at your closed fingers, tapping her chin thoughtfully. If being friends with her taught you anything, this wasnât a good sign.
âThere is one more option. I think he would fit your description of a really hot boyfriend.â She deliberately gives you a meaningful look that makes you leap off the bed, throwing her an accusing look.
âActually, I think Iâm going to ask Gwen. Do you know where I can find her?â
âLong gone. She went to visit Captain Stacey.â Jessica quips. âCome on. Heâs a good option. Besides, this is a great opportunity to know him better!â
âI rather tangle with the loch-ness monster instead.â You mumble, thinking about your very first encounter with the man of the hour - Miguel OâHara. The two of you were a good representation of day and night.
While you were bright and upbeat, the leader of the Spider Society probably didnât have the word âjoyâ in his dictionary. As you attempted to introduce yourself to him at your first meeting, he had simply brushed you aside.
âMiguel isnât that bad once you get to know him.â
âVery funny, Jess. You should be comedian of the year. Did you forget how he yelled at me when I pushed him out of the way from Kingpinâs gangbangers?â
Jessica opens her mouth slightly, only to shut it soon after. You frown, turning your back to see whatever she was staring at behind you. How you wished you hadnât. Oh, if only the ground could swallow you whole as Miguel himself stands at the door, staring at you with an unreadable expression.
âWhat- how long have you been here for?â You struggle to form that one sentence. âJessâŠâ You start accusingly.
Jessica shrugs, taking Miguelâs presence as a sign to leave. âIâll leave you two to it!â She gives you a wink that results in your mouth hanging agape. Miguel closes the door and you quickly attempt to compose yourself.
âIâll do it.â
âDo what?â
Miguel raises a brow. âBe your date.â He says it all too nonchalantly, as if choosing at empanada at the supermarket. You blink, pinching yourself out of his sight. The situation was very real. He stands in front of you, waiting.
âWhat do you want from me?â You blurt out. âYou want something in return.â You clarify once more, trying to make sense of things.
The end of Miguelâs lips turn upwards slightly, and youâre worried that the sudden acceleration of your heart would unable to support your body to stand upright.
âI just want to apologize for my behavior and I happened to overhear your conversation.â He responds and you make a mental note to never trust Jessica again for not warning you about his presence.
âAm I in some kind of alternate dimension?â You laugh, trying to defuse the awkwardness. Miguel remains impassive, eyes staring intently into yours.
âWhatâs it going to be? You can take me or you can look like a liar to everyone. Itâs your choice.â
You hate to say it, but heâs right.
***
âYou came!â Your old friend comes barreling into you, giving you a big hug.
âLils! You look amazing!â You gushed, returning the hug. âCongratulations. What a beautiful place.â You refer to the beachside wedding that she insisted on.
âThanks! Jeju Island was always on my bucket list. Iâm so glad I get to share this memory with all of you!â She gushes, turning to your plus one. âI mean, I finally get to see who has stolen your heart!â She extends a hand. âAnd who may you be?â
âMiguel OâHara.â He extends his own hand for a shake. âCongratulations.â
âNo need for the formalities!â Lilly smiles brightly. âWhat I do want to know is how you two got together! You can be away from her for a little canât you?â
Before the two of you can even say anything, you find yourself being pulled away by Lilly while the groom effortlessly picks up the conversation with Miguel. She brings you aside, within the sight of the two men.
âTell me everything!â She pounces on you like a tiger, demanding to know your first encounter. You give what you hope was a easy smile. âWeâre⊠colleagues.â You donât think exposing both your superhero personas would do well, not especially when you got here by inter dimensional traveling.
Your friend seems to be satisfied by this as she squeals. She hits your shoulder a little too aggressively, wanting more. You sigh, hoping that Miguel wasnât being interrogated this intensively on his end.
âWe just had the same interests and kind of clicked.â You prayed that the questioning would stop soon. âEverything was just a blur after.â
Lilly nods, throughly invested in your fake love story. Sheâs about to ask another question when a sharp voice pierced through the air, causing you to be rooted to the ground. You really wanted to run away at that moment.
âWhat is this that Iâm hearing? Youâre actually seeing someone?â The clack of heels come to a stop and you find yourself facing your tormentor.
âItâs nice to see you too, Becca.â You grit through your teeth. The woman remains oblivious to your discomfort as she addresses the two others trailing behind her. âI wonder whoâs the lucky man nice enough to pick her up!â
âThatâs enough, I invite you to my wedding out of our friendship but this doesnât give you the right to insult her.â Lilly shoots back, keeping her eyes trained on your curled fists.
âItâs alright, Lils.â You try to remain calm. âLetâs go. Iâll tell you everything later.â You take the lead to escort her back when Beccaâs comment brings you to a halt.
âI bet he isnât even real!â
Although she was right, you couldnât help but to turn around, wanting to give Becca and her posse a piece of your mind. Something that you should have done a very long time ago.
âOh, Iâm very real alright.â
You see Miguel walking up towards the trio. Was it just you or did Miguel look⊠angry?
He composes himself, giving a charming grin to the trio who looked like they were going to start falling at his feet any moment.
âMiguel OâHara. She has told me a lot about you three.â
âOh, she has?â Becca twirls the edge of her skirt nervously and you donât know where Miguel is going with this.
âSure. Sheâs told me all about how you three dimwits made her entire life hell. Honestly? I donât even know how that happened when sheâs a hundred times classier with more substance than you plastics claim to have.â Miguel catches your eye and gives a quick wink.
âExcuse me?â Becca stutters. âOh, I get it. She must have paid you to say that!â
Miguel walks over and gently loops an arm over your shoulders. By now, the conversation seemed to have attracted every guest who were lining up at the buffet table.
âNope. But you know what she is? She is the most courageous and selfless person who wouldnât hesitate to help others. I donât think you three would even come close to understanding what that means.â
Miguel has done it. Heâs left them speechless and every guest is know giving disapproving looks to the trio who can only storm away in embarrassment.
âI think Iâm not that hungry yet. How about we take a walk?â
You realize that Miguel is asking you, so you nod numbly and find yourself being led out of the venue. You see Lilly standing at the entrance greeting guests.
Catching your eyes, she gives you a thumbs up and a mischievous grin, not bothered at all about the verbal altercation that was inadvertently caused by you. Amidst the chaos, one thought was clear in your mind.
Just what is going on?
***
The rainbow colored blocks providing as seats for families, friends and couples to take photos makes the sea look even clearer. Silence overtaking the two of you, you busy yourself with noticing how the jagged edges of the rocks are a wonderful addition to the waves crashing near the shore.
âWhatâs going on up there?â
Finally. You prepare yourself, stopping beside the statue. âI was just about to ask you the same thing OâHara.â You take a brave step closer towards the hulking man and he briefly looks away before staring back at you. âNot that Iâm ungrateful but that wasnât like you.â
âThen, what am I supposed to be?â
You paused. âWell⊠youâre supposed to be grumpy and grouchy and keeping me at armâs length I guess?â You search for the right words as Miguel contains a chuckle seeing how flustered you were becoming by the second. âAnd youâre suddenly being nice to me? Hell would have to freeze over.â
Miguel closes the already small gap between the two of you and you suddenly feel hot at his gaze. He examines you for a while and you think heâs about to deliver another sharp retort.
âI did try. I tried to keep you away but you were too bright and cheerful for your own good.â Miguel gruffly tells you. âYou were so much like her.â
You knew that he was referring to his past. His wife whom no one really dared to talk about. You finally understood. To him, you were a walking and living painful reminder.
âIâm sorry.â You breathed out. The air suddenly constricts in your lungs and you feel the need to get away. Anywhere but here. You turn around and find yourself being pulled into him. Miguel hugs you, and he hugs you tight.
âNo, Iâm the idiot. I punished you for seeing you as someone else.â He confesses. âI should have just seen you as⊠you. You were so bright and so brave, I almost lost it when you took the bullets from Kingpin. Thatâs when I knew my behavior had to stop. I wanted to tell you and I guess I saw this as the perfect opportunity.â
âOh.â You donât know how else to react to this sudden revelation.
âBut I meant every word. About me apologizing for my past behavior.â Miguel continues. âAnd that. Earlier on.â He refers to his relentless counter attack on your tormentors. âI didnât know that you had to go through all that.â
âHey, we all go through things right? Kind of a ticket to join the spider society.â You try to lighten things up. âBesides, itâs nothing big.â
Miguel pries you away gently, a slight frown on his face. âDonât minimize your struggles. You are a hundred times stronger than those three combined. After all, thatâs what made you stood out to me in the first place.â
Your heart swells at his statement. As you hear the waves crashing, it felt as if like it gave you a sense of newfound confidence as well. It was all or nothing now. Youâre inches away from Miguel, his rosy cheeks prominent from the strong breeze that the coastal city offered. âI just have one more question.â
Miguel cocks his head to the side, curious. He doesnât interrupt, giving permission for you to go ahead.
âYou love me. Real or not real?â
He takes you by the waist, lips on yours. It could be minutes or hours before he lets go, leaving you in a daze. But the movement of his lips are as clear as day. One that would be forever etched in your memory.
âReal.â

My Fanfiction Recs: Korrasami
In 2020, I watched The Legend of Korra. (Fun fact: it helped me realize and accept that I was bi! So the show has a special place in my heart.) Crazy enough, I started reading Korrasami fanfiction the same year. For the next three years I devoured the fanfiction, and so the following list is an accumulation of my favorites. I think I've read enough to say these are some of the best. Though I haven't been into the fandom lately, I didn't want this old list to go to waste in case anyone was hunting for some good Korrasami reads.
Actually, I discovered some of my favorite stories through Tumblr blogs and am immensely grateful for those posters for sharing their lists. This is my way of paying it forward. Hope someone can enjoy these like I did.
I divvied these up in a way that only made sense to past me. Linked the Ao3 in titles. (You might have to be logged in to see some of these.) I tried to add some commentary for each. Also, I highlighted the ones in blue I really recommend you to read, though I do think everything here is worth a read! Without further ado, here is my compiled list of (Korrasami):
fanfics (that are actually quality)
beautiful prose & the feels
The Everthere by guileheroine My favorite one of them all. I would argue this is one of the best fanfics, if you like a cozy and character-driven read. You really get into Korra and Asami's heads and moods. Slow burn but so, so worth it. I've read this one three times.
Nightmares and Daydreams by Dispari It's been a while since I read this one, but I had a note saying this is "maybe my 2nd fave". Similar tone to The Everthere.
itâs such a gorgeous sight to see you in the middle of the night by badkids This is on almost every recommendation list I've seen. For a reason. College AU. Some angst but a whole lot of fluff and some humor and of course, dorkiness. Another cozy read. The title is from that The Cure song and is also one of my favorite lyrics ever.
like broken thunder by neurolingual Camp counselor AU. All of this writer's works are amazing. They truly have a gift for writing beautiful prose. This time, it's Asami pining for Korra, a different perspective from most fanfics.
I don't remember these as well, but I do remember them being very good and well worth a read. (I know I reread some of these.) And I haven't seen some of these on other lists, so I guess there are some hidden gems in the mix. Some shorter parenthetical notes here.
this winter, you're here by camphollstein (Modern AU. Asami POV. I think Asami was the one pining here. I also liked the family feels.)
all the choirs in my head sing, no by lupine (Canon AU. Short and cute.)
waiting for my chance to come by badkids (Sequel to itâs such a gorgeous sight to see you in the middle of the night)
if these sheets were the states by neurolingual (canon, sad with happy ending, pining/yearning, oh also Asami Pining)
be a girl like any other by neurolingual (grocery store au)
these little moments that lead me to you by raininthesea (quietly beautiful writing)
meet me at the rooftop's edge (at 3 am) by raininthesea (college au)
Out of the Woods series by ariadnerue (canon if I recall right? very feels)
One on One by paxbanana (canon. Asami Pining!)
Auld Lang Syne by aizia (modern au. how to tell your best friend you love her on new year's.)
Prison My Eyes by wreckofherheart (beautiful, canon divergence between books 3 and 4)
unique story
The Honeymooners by hellorhogwartsfics Honestly, should fall under the above category too, but the story really stood out. It was a wild ride! Modern AU. Asami is a jilted bride and her best friend Korra is there for her to take the place of her husband for the honeymoon. I'm a big fan of this author's humor too.
Brittle Wires by golari This was such a unique AU and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Maybe my 3rd fave. The way they wrote Korra and Asami here was so unique. Their interactions are subtle but meaningful. I'm also a fan of nerdy Korra and a secretly pining Asami. It shows the work as unfinished, but it's complete since the author was just thinking of adding an Asami POV chapter.
and you lift me up in a wave of love by overnights (Surfer AU, this one gave me a warm feeling I recall. Read it if you like the beach and sand. And rock.)
Maybe by selftaughthuman (Beautiful one-shot, feels, set in Boston)
Permeate by contronym (Mechanic AU, 2nd person POV, lil cliché but beautiful prose makes up for it)
humor!
An odd category, I know. But some of these really made me laugh out loud, all snorting and uglylike. Enjoy.
All These Lines Are Blurring by hellorhogwartsfics Vegas AU baby! I laughed so hard I cried at times. Opal is amazing here. I've read all of this author's Korrasami works.
Quick Bright Things by LadyRavenEye Oh, this one was absolutely wonderful. Do not skip the footnotes, that's where the humor is! Fake marriage AU. Both are oblivious.
p = mgh (potential) by the_oreo (another damn college au, crack lol, frivolously fantastic)
Paradiddle by bazaar (marching band au, very fluffy)
Sato, #22, Shooting Guard by MidoriAkiko (I donât remember this much, but itâs slapstick funny. some angst tho. slow burn like most on this list)
fluffy and light-hearted
Direct to Video by Emirael (another college au, so much damn fluff)
Company by golari (both are nerds! cute and informative)
Time for You by AnotherShotofBourbon (soulmate oneshot, dorky)
cooler than the flip side of my pillow by camphollstein (FLUFF also literally)
Absolute Beginners by ReneeMontoya (college au! pining)
That's it! There's a lot more great ones out there, but these were just ones that personally stood out to me. I also wanted to highlight some lesser-known ones and give them some love! Hopefully this list was useful to some soul out there craving for some good stories about our girls. Happy reading! :)
