Wohooooo! Holiday starts!!!š¤© (still too early for early dinner)
Packed the hs library desk stationary because it literally looked like a bomb exploded and also the ps library where Iām stationed. The new librarian shall never know what a mess the desk and stationary trolley was.
Iām done and itās only 9.30š
Pretty sure if the librarian was here (or if there was one) - more things to do
Just going to enjoy my day and leave earlierš¤

A Year On
Oliver Wood x Reader
Plot: You've finally achieved your dreams of opening a bookstore. A good friend is there to help you with a much needed confession between the two of you.
A/N: This took me longer than I would have liked but what a whirlwind this year has been - in a good way! I'm so thankful to so many people for the support~ In a way, this piece also reflects my experiences in its own unique way. Thank you for always supporting me and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May more good things come our way~ Tagging the lovely @the-slumberparty
Genre: Fluff, PG-13
Prompt: Has it been a year already?
āThatās the last of it!ā Hermione beams as she waves her wand, the last box sitting nicely on the pile of the many other boxes that the two of you had been bringing into the shop the whole morning.
The shop that you had finally acquired.
āThanks Hermione, you really didnāt have to give up your whole Saturday morning for this. Don't you have to get Christmas decorations for the house?"
āAre you kidding?ā She admonishes. āMy best friend has finally achieved her dreams of opening her own bookstore? Iāll be your first customer!ā
You give her a hug, feeling equally giddy and lightheaded from the success. Sure, it was only the first step, but you allowed yourself to savor this small win.
āI was hoping to be your first customer, but I guess Iāll just have to settle for second.ā A voice pipes up from the entrance.
āOliver!ā You squeak at the sight of the burly young male clutching a bouquet of sunflowers. āPlease, come in!ā You invite him in, ignoring the pointed look that Hermione gave you.
āWell, Iāll be on my way then. I have to meet Ron in twenty minutes. Donāt want to be late!ā Hermione happily sing-songs as she bids goodbye to the two of you. The bell jingles before plunging the shop into silence once more. Oliver strides forward, presenting you with a bouquet of sunflowers.
"Congratulations. You've done it."
You take the flowers carefully, grateful. "Thank you for making the time. You must have been incredibly busy with training."
"And miss the opening of your bookstore?" Oliver brushes off the minor inconvenience. "I'll be a terrible friend."
You laugh, but your heart sinks a little at the word - friend.
You weren't going to lie, the little admiration for the Keeper back in school had grown into a crush and spiralled out of control. Not to mention how he was there for you during your worst period of time.
"Has it been a year already?"
"Huh?"
Oliver's question snaps you out of your daydreams and you swore you saw him chuckle.
"You know, since I last saw you." He refers to the time when you found yourself out and down of luck in your job and life. The depression slowly crept behind you before swallowing you whole. No matter what your family said or tried, you refused to budge, believing that it was something you could never climb out of.
But Oliver refused to give up on you.
He did everything he could - making sure you ate, riding on his sleek broom after training in the vast countryside and showing you the empty shop in Hogsmeade that was now proudly occupied by you.
"Yeah. When you told me you made the down payment for the shop, I thought you were pulling my leg at first. Then you showed me the deed and that's when I knew it was real." You paused, unsure.
"I still don't know why you did it."
Oliver walks around the boxes, observing them like they belonged in a Museum. You wait with bated breath.
"Can I be honest?"
Oliver picks up a book from an opened box. āYou only deserve good things.ā He looks at you with his big brown puppy eyes that made you fell in love- a big ass capital L with him in the first place.
āYou were always so optimistic, helping everyone, listening to their troubles. Including mine. Remember when Flint knocked me off my broom and I had an injury so bad that I was unsure if I would be ready for Puddlemereās tryouts?ā
You remembered well. Oliver was a mess. You still canāt forget the image of the twins running out of his dorm, hair set aflame on their bright Orange hair. They warned you not to enter but you told them that they were just being ridiculous. Two hours and eight minutes later, you managed to get Oliver out of the dorm to have supper. When George asked you how you did it, you replied with two words.
āI listened.ā
āAnd you saved me.ā You think Oliver is just being nice but you take one look at him and his expression is dead set on serious.
āYou always gave so much to others, never expecting anything in return.ā He says. āSoā¦ I wanted to be the first to do something for you.ā
Your breath hitches as he takes a step forward, freckles from playing Qudditch evident on his rosy cheeks.
āOllieā¦ā You use the nickname that only youāre allowed to call him.
āThis is so crazy.ā Oliver lets out a huff of air. āIāve practiced this so many times in front of actual mirror and Iām tongue tied.ā
The butterflies in your stomach flutters and you swore you could float a few feet of the ground. But you remain patient with the adorable man in front of you trying to gather his remaining bearings.
āIām so proud of how far youāve come. This is all your own efforts and Iām glad to be part of it.ā Oliver starts, before his eyebrows crinkle at his own speech.
āWhat Iām really trying to say is that I love you. I love you so much for seeing who I really am beyond Gryffindor's Qudditch Captain. For being there for me every single day... and I want to be there for you... if you'll have me."
You almost burst into tears at your best friend's sweet and vulnerable confession. No more dancing around each other, no more games. You throw yourself around his burly frame, face nestled in his chest.
"Yes. Yes I'll have you dork." You muttered, not exactly ready to let him see your puffy eyes. But Oliver doesn't care as he gently pries you from the comfort of his red sweater.
"I'm sorry it took me this long. I thought with everything that has happened over the past year, you would want to settle down first before anything else."
Could this man be any more perfect?
"I appreciate that Oliver, I really do. Though I am not entirely blameless." You admit, feeling a teensy bashful. Oliver is confused for a moment and when he understands that you held the same feelings as he did, a charming grin is plastered on his face. You know what that means - he's ready to tease you.
"Really? Oh do tell."
Flame rushes to your face as you open another box of books for the much needed distraction.
"You know what, forget I ever said that."
"Now you know I can't do that. When did you figure out you had feelings for me? Ooh was it when you saw me half naked in the locker room during our last year?"
"Oliver Wood, if you continue this- nonsense. I'm going to have to put you to work!" You stumble over your words, not fooling anyone.
"Well then, use me as you wish. My day is yours to command."
It was your turn to smile as the two of you started to arrange the books on the shelves in synchronized teamwork.
If present you had went back in time to tell past you that this would be your life? You would have snorted it off and continued moping around. How funny a year could be so different.
Perhaps, that was the magic of Christmas.

Not trying to be an overthinking or what others might call being āsensitiveā but-
Because the whole saga of not being able to hire a librarian for 6 months basically had a domino effect, I have been doing after school duty for those kids who canāt leave the moment school ends. Last academic year had way more kids (this semester only had 3, 4 maximum).
So, yesterday I agreed to ply after school volleyball with the high school and it started at 3pm. Had to look for cover for the remaining time. There were only 2 kids because 1 was absent. TA 1 said she couldnāt because she was doing a webinar so I had to ask TA 2 which thankfully she was available. The story could have ended there lmao.
She comes in and proceeds to tell me which of the library decorations and arrangements were made by her and the previous library assistant before me (which by the way I heard her attitude wasnāt exactly great either) and comments how the library is packed with books (good or bad I donāt know). And Iām here like???
Sure we all like to walk down memory lane (myself included) but that just rubbed me the wrong way. Telling that to a person who had to cover TWO library operations for SIX months, having to endure that whole HR nonsense and basically just doing about everything else because thereās not exactly an abundance of staff.
I honestly felt like whipping out the file of activities that the kids did during library lessons (if I can call them that) and showing it to her along with my HS workshop schedule.
I mean I saw her covering the art class but that was like what only 3 days on a Friday because the Art teacher mysteriously took leave always on that day (hey weāre all entitled to it but you see my point).
My point is if she wanted to compare she could have said so Iāll gladly do that.
So glad itās going to be break soon~
#blackbat rambles#work rambles#omg I did email my previous librarian in the form of a merry Christmas wish#but I told her about the situation too#no response yet but I think she will be shocked#shocked with a capital S

Somehow went on a major influx of thanking people whom I lost contact with but helped me this year.
I guess I achieved that promise of reaching out first.

Now I understand why our school made us put our phones in the locker.
Been hearing students saying that they're bored during break time when they are not on their phone. Totally get that our school campus is not the most ideal but it's just really sad that kids now of these days depend so much on their phone to keep themselves occupied and entertained.
#blackbat rambles#work rambles#and then when the boss says that okay no phones allowed i'm like yeah that's going to be impossible when you don't enforce rules

Work rambling yet again:
Theyāre nice and all but like Iām just thinkingā¦
Honestly if I was a TA (even if I have some teaching experience), having my teacher taking off on the same day of different days of the week seems a leeetle suss.
I mean Iām perfectly under the knowledge that everyone has the right (I do that too) but I dunno.
