first off im soo curious which video essay you mean, cause i love watching video essays and i wanna watch more about su lol

also honestly, it probably wasnt totally apathy, i just find it hard to pinpoint what exactly it was lol. i started trying to expand further on that in the tags and then i realized i was beginning to talk in circles so i just deleted it all 💀

i almost wonder if pink assumed spinel wouldnt actually stay there forever, especially since spinel was so full of energy that she probably wouldnt follow such a boring command like that for so long

i moreso just called it apathy since thats what it looked like outwardly, but i also find it so hard to find the right words sometimes fr

btw i didnt say anything about it at the time cause i didnt want to pause the episode too much and i was almost done for the night, but i find whites idea of pinks behavior so interesting.

she cant possibly even consider the fact that pink genuinely loved and cared for and fit in with "lesser beings", only that someone as grand as a diamond would do such a thing to be "the best of the worst"

obviously we know otherwise, or at least i hope we (the audience) know otherwise lol, i doubt it with some people.

pink, just like every other gem around her, did not fit her assigned purpose. she lacked the complete and total apathy needed to colonize. she saw beauty in organic life and she couldnt imagine wanting to take it away forever. then she saw other gems who also didnt fit their mold. she saw a place where she belonged much more than the lonely seat of being a diamond.

but to someone like white, there was no reason for her to consider this. whites narrow worldview couldnt comprehend that her "perfect" empire was so flawed that even a diamond would desperately grasp at escaping it. she knew that pink was struggling to find equality with the other diamonds, so where would she go? to be somewhere where she was above everyone else instead of below them. to make up for her percieved shortcomings by overcompensating. by continuing to be a diamond in a different way.

and to white, this was just one long, long game. because she couldnt concieve that pink ever meant it seriously, that it was ever real. because that would mean that everything she carefully built for thousands upon thousands of years was so flawed that a diamond wanted out just that badly. that a diamond didnt even fit the mold.

obv she finds out that she, too, doesnt even fit the mold she created for herself. she sees just how real that pinks choices were when its shown that pink is truly gone forever, and only steven remains. and when shes called out for acting immature at this reveal, she gets embarassed, and changes color. shes no longer monotone like a gem should be, like she should be. she turns a little pink.

of course she had to start coming to terms with things like pinks choices and behavior when she had to come to terms with herself lol.

drunk!ellie who wants to make out with you so so badly. she forgets you're 'just friends' and her big, huge crush on you starts showing as she gets all touchy with you. when you or anyone else calls her out, she of course refuses to admit it and insists that she isn't doing anything (her hand rubs your inner thigh, moving higher and higher each second).

drunk!ellie who blames everything on jesse or dina. someone threw up? dina, of course. someone drank your father's liqueur, which was supposed to stay untouched? she saw dina emptying the bottle and tempting jesse, as if they're adam and eve. someone broke a vase? she saw jesse accidentally pushing it with his elbow.

"but ellie, i saw you—"

"y—yeah! he pushed me and um— yeah. jesse... it's his fault, i s—swear." and it almost seems she believes her own lie, though it doesn't seem so convincing to the rest of you.

drunk!ellie who starts doing the most random things ever. board games, rubik's cubes (even though she never managed to solve it without watching a step by step tutorial), and don't even let me start on puzzles— if she finds a set, she'll have a goal for the rest of the night - completing them, even if they have thousands of pieces. the point is, she never succeeds. her vision is too dizzy and her head is spinning too much, she can't find two fitting pieces at all.

I agree with the previous request, we all love Wong. Y/n sat at the Sanctum library a book in her hand as she glared up at the other students/sorcerers keeping their distance from the witch. The girl who never uttered a word, the girl who was much more powerful than anyone else around- and that scared all of them. The fact they could easily be in her eye-line and could easily use her powers on them without an hesitation. One of the students walks up to her slightly shaking from her presence.

���U-Um miss-“

“Y/n.” She states looking up at the male student watching his hands shake, the sweat forming on his forehead.

“D-Doctor strange wants to see you in the office.” He stutters before scurrying away from the girl. She rolled her eyes using her red magic powers to put the book back into its place. The students watching it all at the way she didn’t even need to pay attention. She stands up pulling the black hood over her head before using her own magic to open up a portal to the sanctum; walking through the red portal spotting a certain sorcerer at his desk looking over some spells.

“What took you so long.” He grunted while looking up at the woman in front of him. She slowly pulled down her hood staring at him.

“Stupid students- maybe blame them Strange.” She mumbled making her way closer to the desk before sitting herself down on the edge of the desk looking at him with a monotone expression.

“You really do just make yourself at home, don’t you?” He grumbled organizing the papers and books in front of him so she didn’t dare crumble them.

“Have to- with this mess you call home.” She muttered a sharp glare towards his way. “Why did you need me anyhow.” Stephen sighed rubbing his face with his hands.

“After Wanda’s death. I did some research about Westview.” He walked his way around the front of the desk to face her his arms crossed. “Came across a woman named Agatha Harkness, found out she was in a witches coven. Was wondering if you knew of her.” Y/n scrunched her eyebrows looking at the man.

“So you assume I know any witches because I am one?” She scoffed jumping off the desk. Stephen groaned rubbing his face with his hands. “But yes I do know Agatha.” Stephen huffs at her attitude rolling his eyes as well.

“You could’ve just started with that.” He groaned at the witch in front of him. She just smirked leaning against the desk as she looked at him. “Apparently though- Wanda put a curse over here. She can’t use her powers and she is appearing as someone other than Agatha. We’re keeping an eye on her.”

“Oh what shit show did she get into with Wanda to have her powers strip from her.” Y/n laughed softy using her hands to play with her magic. “She probably deserved it knowing her; she was always jealous of my powers.” Stephen quirks an eyebrow at the woman.

“How did you know her anyhow?” He mutters watching the way she played with magic so flawlessly.

“She taught me how to control my powers; found out she mostly just wanted me to strengthen it so she could take it for herself.” She groaned lightly her eyes focusing on the magic. “Guess you could say at one point we were friends.” Stephen watches the woman in front of him, taking in her dark expression, she was always so closed off. It irritated him more than anything; he couldn’t read the witch in front of him. She knew that everyone was scared of her in Kamar-Taj knowing if they ever made her bad side she would absolutely destroy them with one click of her fingers. Maybe that’s why he didn’t exactly like her.

“Didn’t know you had friends.” He replies moving his way back towards the desk his cloak trying to move him back for some irritating reason- he mutters a quick stop it to the cloak.

“I don’t do friends that’s why.” She pulls her hood up covering her face once again. “Just like I don’t have anyone close to me. I have one mission only to protect kamar-taj for Wong, I owe him.” She muttered before disappearing into her portal back to the library. Stephen watched as she disappeared suddenly missing her presence but quickly pushing that thought back down. She was mysterious and powerful, she never bothered to do small talk- she would simply just walk away, she was right she was only here to protect Kamar-Taj not to make friends- so why did it hurt when she said she didn’t have friends.

Y/n walked through Kamar-Taj keeping her hood slightly up as she watched the young students learning to be a sorcerer. She noticed a girl barely being able to make a spark and Stephen next to her instructing her. Ah- that was the girl who could travel through multiverses. Y/n walks up to the pair pulling her hood down.

“You have to be calm and stop overthinking.” She stated to the teenager, the girl snapping her head quickly. Stephen rolls his eyes.

“America this is-“

“Y/n.” America mutters moving her hands down slowly as she stared at the powerful woman. Y/n chuckles lightly smacking her lips together.

“So America isn’t it? How do you know me?” Y/n said in low tone crossing her arms as she stared at her-Americas face filled with surprise, before looking at Stephen.

“Your wife scares me…” America hummed lowly, Stephen’s eyes widen at her comment.

“Wife what are you talking about!” Stephen grunted crossing his arms as well as he glared daggers towards America but also showing a hint of disgust but also sort of flutter hit his chest at the idea. Y/n face scrunched up at her words shaking her head before laughing.

“Oh god, wife?” Y/n snorted. “Have fun with her Stephen. I’ll keep an eye on you America.” She muttered turning away from the pair. Stephen continues to look at America his arms crossed like he was a pissed off dad. America bites her lip looking up at Stephen.

“You’re telling me- you aren’t married yet?” America giggled lightly looking at the blush that raised to Stephen’s cheeks.

“What do you mean “married yet?”” Stephen uttered trying to contain the fluttering in his stupid chest but it didn’t help that his cloak was basically rubbing his cheeks to make fun of it-Stephen smacks his cloak away muttering another stop it.

“You and her are together in every universe I’ve met a Stephen strange. I mean it makes sense- she has always scared me though.” America laughs trying not to snort at his expression that turned to be full on flushed. “Christine was never the one for you- every universe you guys don’t end up working but that witch was always the one to fascinate you.” Stephen brushed his go-tee with his hand as he thought about what she said- but also he thought about when he went into the multiverse with America and how the conversation with his other self made much more sense.

“Are you happy Stephen?" Sinister Strange snarled. "That's what Christine told us." Stephen hitched a breath looking at Sinister Strange looking out the window catching a glimpse of other Christine. Sinister Strange laughed wickedly. " I said of course I'm happy- I lost the love of my life what I thought anyhow." Stephen tilts his head towards him.

"I just need the Darkhold please." Stephen hesitated bringing his hand out indicating him to give him the book.

"You don't realize what you have do you?" Sinister Strange taunted walking towards Stephen slowly as he crossed his arms. "Still obsessed with Christine not realizing what you have right in front of you? The one thing we thought irritated us the most- might say a witch?" He smirks, Stephen scrunched his eyebrows in a confused manner. "Oh god you still don't realize huh? Well how about this- you and I swap universe so I can have the one person I lost."

"Yeah how about no." Stephen grunted-

Y/n sat on the bench late at night looking up at the stars as she idly played with the magic in her hands- she often wondered if what she had was a curse on her; or it if was the help the common good. She didn't like that people were afraid of her but it easier then keeping people close- after killing her parents at such a young age, she promised herself to not let people see the real her. To keep herself guarded from that fact, so she rather then be feared then let herself open up so easily. The only person she even considered to open up was with Stephen- even though he irritated her and got under her skin she often wondered why; she never let anyone get under her skin- mostly she was still deep in thought about what America had said; it rattled her core for some unknown reason.

"What are you doing out here this late?" She heard a deep voice say in calm tone. She put her hood down letting her hair flow down and her deep e/c eyes look towards the voice- none other then the devil himself, Stephen Strange. Y/n sighs softly moving her eyes back to the stars that littered the sky wondering if anyone would ever find out how many stars are actually up in the sky. "Deep in thought I presume?" He sits himself down on the bench next to her his blue robe swishing around as he does. She looks at him a small smirk on her face.

"I guess you could say that." She muttered softly her eyes landing back on his- her stomach fluttering just a bit; realizing this she looks away from those stupid cheekbones.

"This is a perfect spot for that." He smirk his eyes wandering towards her.

"It's just so beautiful- the only thing that will ever make sense to me." She whispered under her breath. Stephen continue to look at her through his lashes- his breath hitching at the sight of her; it was like ever since America said what she did his eyes opened up and he cursed himself for not noticing it until now. She was so strong, so independent, the wind blew her hair like it was meant for her, the way her eyes gleamed at the sight of stars and the small smile that placed on her face- like shes never felt so much peace until now.

"I agree." He muttered as he continue to stare at her his heart racing thinking of her being the only thing to make sense to him- her beauty couldn't even be compared to the stars because right now all he could look at was her. She glanced at him seeing him stare at her made her body shiver at his intense stare.

"What?" She asked in a soft tone, her facial features contorted in confusion as he continue to stare at her, but a small smile still placed on her face.

"You know I don't think I've even seen you smile." He whispered softly his hand slightly grazing against hers subconsciously, her breath hitching at the contact but trying not show it.

"That's because people are scared of me and never talk to me." She mumbled keeping her eyes locked onto his. "Why do you anyhow?" She added tilting her head to the side as she continued to stare at those piercing blue eyes.

"That's because you have something beautiful inside of you. It's hard for some people to tell, but it is there- because I see it." He muttered his face moving closer to hers, her heart thumped against her chest her eyes flicking towards his lips back to his eyes, before finally his soft lips were against hers and she swore she felt something she never had before. He moved his lips against hers in sync, her hand instantly moving to his cheek, this was her fist kiss, this was the first time this has ever happened to her. He pulls back from the kiss a small smirk on his face, she blushed a deep red her eyes piercing into his.

"What was that?" She mumbled, he chuckled deeply watching the way her face was flustered but blank making sure not to show how affected she was.

"A kiss." He joked around, she groaned punching his arm lightly.

"I know! Do it again." She grumbled, he chuckled before cupping her cheeks smashing his lips against hers- making sure he was never going to let this beautiful powerful witch slip through his fingers.

So. Thinking about Brooklynn. About her death. You mention how she faked it. except, I don’t think saying she faked it is really an accurate or fair description.

Brooklynn didn’t fake anything—here is what we know, and here is what I mean. The facts that we are presented with through season 1. limited as they are, are that Brooklynn was at a Dino Drop, the allosaurus escaped, and that it "killed her." Except it didn't really kill her. It is framed as an accident--a random Dino attack. But Ben shows up and suddenly it's clear that maybe it wasn't an accident.

So let's run through the facts one more time. Brooklynn's 'death' at the hands of the allosaurus wasn't an accident. It was premeditated. The attack was an honest to goodness attempt on Brooklynn's life. One the camp fam--and the people who targeted Brooklynn in the first place--believed worked. You're going to want to keep this in mind, because now I am going to address the other part of your ask.

Brooklynn's character has not, to me, been destroyed.

We see little of Brooklynn and what she was doing throughout Chaos Theory, because we are learning about her again through the eyes and memories of the people who loved and mourned her--we are gathering bits and pieces, parts of the narrative that we, as the viewers, can piece together more efficiently than the actual players, because the knowledge the Camp Fam has is disjointed in that they are not all privy to the same information or how it connects--and it's not their fault at all! They are not working under the same information we have--that Brooklynn is alive--and so, don't know why certain things are more important. Even we don't have the full picture, although what we have is a little clearer.

But from what we see of Brooklynn throughout Chaos Theory, there is something there that you believe is not true to her previously established character. I disagree. I think what you are talking about, when you say that she is not herself anymore, is that Brooklynn is too invested in her conspiracies, so much so that she has thrown everything else away--her "life", her regard for her friends/family and her relationships with them.

But I think, that when it comes to Brooklynn, being obsessed with a conspiracy or mystery is in fact a major core part of her character. We saw it all throughout Camp Cretaceous. She sneaks away when they visit Wu's lab that first time to snoop--and yes, maybe it was for her followers, trying to find something juicy before everything went to shit, but what she saw clearly stood out to her. She was hooked, she reviewed that footage, and it stayed with her so much so that when she saw the label E750 again at a later date while on the security cameras, she lingered over the shot before having to move on to help the others. And even then, it was clear that it stayed with her--whatever Wu did, whatever E750 was, it was a mystery and Brooklynn wanted to solve it.

And we see the others are aware of this! Sammy recruits Brooklynn to help out in her quest to find information, and the mystery consumes Brooklynn so much that initially, she was steamrolling right over Sammy's input. We also see Brooklynn's thirst for mystery solving when she becomes so focused on the frozen flowers, something she mentioned so much so that the other campers could quote her on it. We see it with her suspicions regarding Mitch and Tiff, and even Mae. We see it again in the final episode, when we catch a glimpse of the campers as teenagers. Brooklynn mentions the Lockwood Estate, which, for those who don't know or remember, is where the later events of JW:Fallen Kingdom (timeline wise, this is three years after the first Jurassic World, so three years after the kids first got left behind in the Park.) The events at the Lockwood Estate and what was supposed to be happening there wasn't public knowledge. That was Brooklynn following a lead, as at that point in time when she brings it up, the dinosaurs hadn't been set loose yet.

The reason I mention all this is because I really don't think Brooklynn's obsessiveness or drive is new. She loves investigative work, and she's good at putting together pieces too. She's also been shown to have a love for mysteries, loving Esther Stone and having her videos following the pattern of being named "Brooklynn unboxes x." She likes knowing the whys, whens, wheres, and whats. She literally says that she is trying to make the transition from influencer/vlogger to investigative journalist. Which is why I am not at all surprised with her being so focused on this Dino smuggling rings, and why I believe it was in character.

Tying It All Together

Now I know what you may be thinking. "But she neglected Kenji! That's not good girlfriend behavior. She faked her death! That's horrible." Valid, but also, not fundamentally true.

I said earlier, that by "not herself" you might mean that "Brooklynn is too invested in her conspiracies, so much so that she has thrown everything else away--her "life", her regard for her friends/family and her relationships with them." I don't think she has though, and if it has ended up that way, it was never her intention.

Take in all the Brooklynn scenes from Chaos Theory. Each member of the Camp Fam has an interaction with her that is shown through flashback or hinted at. So let's put together a timeline.

Brooklynn is dead at the start of the show, but for how long, I don't actually remember. I will put it at 6 months to a year, but if anyone else knows for sure, just let me know and I'll fix it. Anyways. She is dead for six months to a year. And in the months leading up to her death, she was investigating something, but they don't know what. We know that it had something to do with Dark Jurassic, Kenji's father, and Dino Smuggling. We know Ben introduced her to Dark Jurassic. We know Brooklynn stayed with Darius, left her jacket at Sammy's, and visited Yaz.

So here goes a tentative undertaking:

Ben introduces Brooklynn to Dark Jurassic and she visits him at his college. He hasn't dropped out/left yet. She is mentioning conspiracy theories, some as a joke, but its clear something there has caught her attention.

Brooklynn gets deeper into Dark Jurassic, and at some point reads about Dino Immersive therapy, which she recommends to Yaz. She visits her at some point, but when, is unclear.

Brooklynn visits Sammy. She is on Dark Jurassic so often that when Sammy has a flashback of her, Brooklynn is visibly on the site.

Brooklynn is with Kenji, but has been so absorbed in her mystery that she has started to neglect Kenji, but doesn't realize it. This goes on for a while. He breaks up with her and they are both devastated.

Brooklynn stays with Darius. Is still embroiled in her mystery. Asks Darius to meet up with her. "Dies."

Now, at some point before 4 and 5, Brooklynn visits Daniel Kon, gets a secret apartment, and is undercover within the Dino Smuggling ring.

We know that she did not tell her friends, or her boyfriend, any of this. Why? Especially Kenji! He was her boyfriend, one of her biggest supporter's, and his father was the guy Brooklynn went to so she could get her in to the smuggling world. Kenji has always heard her out, like when he was the one who stayed behind with her when she accidentally hurt Darius with the 'cool dad' comment. Kenji is the one who agreed to snoop with her regardless of his feelings because it was important to her. So why would she not go to her biggest supporter?

I believe that Chaos Theory tackled the kids growing up and their respective trauma very well. Not all of them are dealing very well. Yaz is the only one who seems to have gone to therapy, while Ben, Darius, and Kenji are all isolating. Sammy is dealing with repression and toxic positivity. It's very possible that Brooklynn was also dealing, and not very well at that. It's possible that her trauma manifested in another way. Maybe she needed to push herself into a project so she could ignore what happened--or maybe she needed to push herself into a project so if something happened, she could be prepared? We don't know! And it's because we don't know that I am going to, for the time being, ignore this, and focus on the possible reasons as to why she didn't tell them from what we do know.

Yaz has PTSD, and struggled a lot with the hopelessness of having to put the dinosaurs first and it costing them their way home in the later seasons of CC. So maybe Brooklynn didn't tell her because she didn't want to halter Yaz's progress. Still, she let on that she was investigating something and about Dark Jurassic.

Sammy is worried about Yaz, and so maybe Brooklynn didn't tell her because involving Sammy might mean involving Yaz, or maybe she didn't want to put stress on their relationship by having Sammy lie to her. Still, she let on that she was investigating something and about Dark Jurassic.

Ben had college. What, was she just going to disrupt that? Still, she let on that she was investigating something and talked with him about Dark Jurassic, which he introduced her to.

Kenji. Kenji was her boyfriend, her rock, THE Brooklynn enabler. who has always heard her out. The only time he didn't hear her out immediately was when his father was interfering. The same father she would need to go to for a door into the smuggling world. The same father who Kenji lived close to but never visited. In the last season of CC, Brooklynn, when investigating Daniel Kim, says that she won't break Kenji's heart without a good reason. Maybe, she did not feel like going to him about his father was a good reason--Kenji was in a good place, how could she hurt him like that? Maybe she thought she was protecting him. So she doesn't tell him. Still, she let on that she was investigating something.

Darius. Darius is my biggest "Brooklynn's Fake Death Can't Be Classified As Willfully Malicious On Her Part" card. Because he is the one that proves that Brooklynn did not in fact get sucked in so deep in her mystery that she tossed away all bonds and relationships. Did her death fuck him up? Definitely. But guys! She called him there that night, they had plans, she was "going to show him something!!!" Guys. She went to Darius. She was going to show Darius. Do you get that. In Chaos Theory, they say "Brooklynn was there to buy the Allosaurus that night." They are heartbroken. Yaz and Sammy say no way, and Darius says it is true, that she had a secret apartment, cash, and a note from Mr.Kim. But guys. She was going to show Darius.

Every time Brooklynn is called out on her behavior and shown how her obsessiveness hurts her friends—the way Sammy called her out when they were investigating E750, or her feeling regret over the “cool dad” comment when investigating Mitch and Tiff—she takes a step back and reassesses. She starts to investigate again but with changed behavior. That’s growth. Kenji breaking up with her may have really been the catalyst to her trying to show Darius what she was up to. As Darius says, Brooklynn was really torn up about the breakup and it is so visible on her face that she is devastated—she loved Kenji. She loved her friends.

So Brooklynn’s behavior, it was not Brooklynn cutting out her friends. Was she 100% honest with all of them? No. And unfortunately, the one person who she was going to show what was going on, didn't get to make it, and Brooklynn was killed.

Except she lived. So why not tell them? Why let them stew in grief? Why abandon them? Look, I think a lot of you are forgetting that the kids are very very good at improv. Are we forgetting Darius and Kash?An attempt on Brooklynn's life was made, and she somehow miraculously survived. She adapted, and made a plan on the go, lying low, somehow creating a trusted network, while being unable to reach out to her friends--it would blow her cover, and also possibly put them in danger. Who knows? Besides. Let's not forget, Ben was not the one who called Darius in that first episode. I don't know, but I do think it could have been Brooklynn, or someone on behalf of her, like Ronnie. (Or it could have been raptor lady to make sure Darius was home but who knows!)

Look, ultimately, you don't have to like her, and I'm not forcing anyone to! I do love her though, and her choices are ones I will defend. Besides, I know we are talking about camp fam trauma reactions to Brooklynn's death, but guys, flip side? We have a character who was going to tell her friend what she was up to, only to have an assassination attempt on her life causing her to lose a limb and go into hiding, not being able to contact her loved ones. I cannot even begin to think of the trauma Brooklynn has.

ben 10 2006 kevin arc: addicts arent good or bad. they can be kind and good and pure and everything a person 'should' be and circumstances can still align and draw them to addiction. kevin is a sweet kid who wants to make friends and is continually shown to be kind when sober, but even in his very first moments it's seen that his trip can drive him to hurt others and himself. he doesnt have any other choice though, because he couldn't survive without his addiction and the power that it gives him. this is understood, and yet ben's arc is about understanding that no matter how much you may care about an addict or a mentally ill loved one, no matter how many chances you try to give them, there comes a point where it is lethal for you to keep trying to help someone who cannot be helped. Ben gives kevin mercy, tools to help himself, and while their might be animosity about it, he really only wants kevin to be ok but even if you believe in someone with all of your soul, you cannot stay with them if they can't value you in the way you value them. Addiction is not a fault, but it is also not an illness that breeds nice people, and continuing to try and help someone who will hurt you for trying is less helping and more self-flaggelation.

ANYWAYS THE MAIN PART

i dont mean to blame any of you, but its kind of pressuring asking for a part two. like, it is flattering trust me, because it means you enjoy the work and want more. for some its probably obvious what fic im talking about but when theres already 50+ comments asking for a part two, and you add more onto that, it feels more like an obligation to do so. im sure i can see that theres many comments asking when the next part is, so dogpiling on top of it is just not a great feeling as a writer.

i think some people forget that writers write in their free time. its not a job and theres not really much satisfaction you can get out of it except knowing that theres people who love what you write. there are moments where i write a lot, and like right now, im not writing at all. i cant force myself to no matter how much i know i need to write, because then the result is unsatisfactory. this happens every time i try to do an event and i feel SO bad because youre probably so excited to receive work born from your own idea and im just not doing it??

i want you guys to enjoy what i write, but i only want to put out the best quality. on multiple occasions, even with no pressure, i feel like ive completely messed up something ive written because of my own standards. the more followers you accumulate, the better the writing should be, right? or thats what im thinking for myself... if i get embarrassed when i see somebodys liked it, then clearly i havent done well enough to consider it to be good. ive deleted many of my works if you havent noticed. the wbk ones are still up i think but i just dont think theyre good enough to be on my mlist.

ive never really mentioned engagement before... and i know im guity of it as well, but i do make an effort to. im not saying you have to reblog everything you read, but even just the occasional one that you really love, which is what i do. i havent gotten around to making a reblog sideblog just yet because i dont have the time, but just know that if i did, every fic that i like would have a reblog as well. followers and likes arent as important to me as reading or acknowledging that people want to share my work.

i dont feel as proud of my more liked fics compared to this one for example (even tho its one of my most popular bllk works but u get the point). it makes me sm happier just seeing a little comment or tag in the reblogs. its funny, and i actually did smile every time, because i really wasnt expecting people to like it that much or even get comments at all

ok ok: so, Mai. She's 1/3 of Azula's Evil Girl Group, colloquially known as Ozai's Angels, and thats the context you see her in for most of the show which is why it's important to know. You know how all cartoons in the 2000s HAD to have ONE morose goth chic? Well she is atla's quota. She's a noble, she's an only child (THEE only child. The first only child they made at the only child factory <33), she fights with 🔪KNIVES 🔪!!! she's Zuko's canonical comphet love interest and she has a very understated but underrated arc..

Her role/arc in the show:

I mentioned Ozai's Angels because her interactions with Azula and Ty Lee are the real meat and potatoes of her character. They're like... baby's first toxic yuri love triangle <3333 REALLY can't overstate how toxic yuri love triangle they are. Mai and Ty Lee end up betraying Azula in season 3 which is both the climax (imo) of Mai's arc and the inciting action for Azula's descent (but we're not getting into Azula never ask me to get into Azula please). A lot of people reduce Mai going turncoat to JUST being about saving Zuko - and like partially it IS. She saves Zuko from dying because she loves/cares about him and that's a big part of it.

But it's ALSO about her finding her voice ?? Like throughout the show we NEVER see her voice opinions about something unless it's to say that she's bored, or jaded, or what have you. She never seems to have strong feelings about anything; her stated reasoning for joining Azula's Imperialism Girl Band is because she's bored living with her parents 💀 but it's like. It becomes clear to the audience later in the show that she was raised to never speak unless spoken to, to mask emotions, etc etc LIEKKK SHE'S SOOO REPRESSED ONLY CHILD SHE'S SO WOMAN TM... So her telling Azula "I love Zuko more than I fear you" was THEE cuntiest moment EVER because it's like oh shit ?? this is something pretty unexpected from this character ?? Waow so crazy so cunt ??

A lot of people point out that she and Ty Lee never really got a "ohhhh Imperialism is bad" arc like Zuko did but. imo there wasn't a whole lot of room in the show for it lol. Would have been something interesting to explore in the comics for sure !! but uhmmm I'd rather walk into the ocean than watch Gene Luen Yang try and write about imperialism and colonialism again so maybe its better we never got that.. (no offense to him he's just... not that great at doing it in the atla comics...not his strength..)

Her reception in fandom:

She's usually only ever talked about in the context of being Zuko's love interest (either positively OR negatively) hence my post that you saw. Like. Victim Numero Uno of zutara/kataang shipping wars cus at least a bunch of people LIKE Aang whereas people either ignore or actively dislike her.

There's often discourse about like. Who's the "toxic" one in the Mai/Zuko pairing and it's annoying when she gets flak for it cus like newsflash: they both are. My GOD they both are. They've canonically broken up twice. They're the emo boy/goth girl pairing. They're cute together. They're miserable together. They're both homosexual. You get it.

Also a lot of times people just call her boring or emotionless and it's like congrats !! you have fallen for her facade... in conclusion... sorry this is so long uhm.. your fault for asking me though... how long is it going to take until I've just told you the entire plot of this cartoon piecemeal ask by ask...

Tbh I'm not surprised ppl are spreading misinformation, when an entire characters reputation is just them being boringly cruel and biting people, most folk won't go on to read their stuff to really know if dude does or doesn't also eat people lol bc 1. They don't read point blank and 2. The misinformation is more in line with their version of the character in their head so it's bias taking over

in that specific case ur refering to, it was actually just another sabes fan, i dont think they really meant any harm ^^;

i get what u mean tho, in general a lotta xmen n wolverine fans only see him by his known rep, and ig thats more of the comics fault if anything. if u only read comics about ur favs, ur gonna have a skewed perception of other characters(like. my opinion of scott for example probably cant be trusted LOL)

the cannibal conversation also kinda ties into that, as different canons n different writers portray him with different traits. if u only read one run with him, ur gonna have an entirely different view than someone whos only read another

i can kinda give an example with comparing how hes written in Sabretooth Special 1995 vs the Weapon X 2002 era stuff by frank tieri-

in sabretooth special, his place is very neat n tidy(hell, he even tends to a lil bonsai tree!) to the point where the xmen are suspicious of it even being genuine.....the comic goes over how hes actually struggling with a lot of his violent urges, which if you'd read any of the previous basement arc comics, you'd know was the reason for him trying to get help from the xmen in the 1st place(and they obviously did a piss poor job at it, refusing to accept he wanted to change, so he spends this comic calling them out).

hes written as someone whos more than just his mistakes n violent outbursts. theres a version of him that people dont see, simply cuz theyre not around to see it. and even in the moments he tries to show them, tries to explain how much pain hes in, no one ever truly believes him.

meanwhile, frank tieri writes him as being everything people see him as and more-

hes the exact image of what general fans see when they think 'sabretooth'. hes done it all.

and i dont got shit against people who like that version but...imo, what makes his character interesting is that fact that him n wolverine could switch places at any moment if they were in reversed situations. theres already plenty of examples of sabretooth becoming the good guy the moment he gets offered the chance(inverted + age of apocalypse/exiles + xmen forever + many of the basement arc issues + xfactor being prime examples of that), and that chance is the only thing keeping wolverine as the good guy

(its also obviously due to wolverine visually appearing less threatening and passing less as an immediate mutant)

and the ironic part is that due to wolverine having more comics, hes arguably done more worse things than sabretooth over the years, just cuz of the variety of writers hes had. but his rep is that hes the good guy who does bad things

genuine question but how do you as a radical feminist stomach having a boyfriend in this political climate & how are you not counting down the days until he shows how misogynistic he is? or has he already done it and you’re just okay with it? sorry if its personal, i’m just in a situation rn & not many of us date males

its a fair question and i appreciate it. i have a lot of thoughts about it bc i’ve considered this a lot so sorry for the long reply:

the sad truth is the bullshit and trauma ive had to deal with has simultaneously given me both high and low standards in different ways, if that makes sense. i have the maturity and self esteem to not tolerate weird toxic bullshit anymore and know what i like, but at the same time i finally have someone who genuinely doesnt treat me like a sex object and listens to me when i speak and doesnt bore me, or disappoint me, or gross me out. right now im at a time in my life where thats what im looking for. if that sounds mundane and un-special, thats because it is lol. this is what i want in a man right now, bc i never totally wanted a relationship to begin with. before my current bf i was fine with the idea of only having casual stuff and just doing my thing (even if it didnt go well for me when i did, but thats the guys fault). but then i happened to have a person in my circle of close friends that i knew for years that liked me, and so far ive never seen him act like a tool, so i simply decided to give it a chance - thats all it comes down to. i take it day by day and enjoy his companionship while i do, and i care for him… but im not going to totally emotionally depend on him for a while. if and when i fall out of love with him, i know i can handle it and do whats right. if that makes sense.

thats my perspective on MY relationship though. to answer in a broader sense, im keenly aware that hes never gonna truly understand my deep mistrust or contempt of men in the way other women do, but i accepted that the same way that i accept that i cant make every women embrace feminism or separatism. right now im happy to discuss and plan for separatism when im older and more stable, and my goal is to tell other women about it. and to always, always, always have VERY high standards, to know yourself completely so you know exactly what you want in life, and that a man is ultimately just… an option in a woman’s life. not mandatory for a happy existence by a long shot.

thats what it comes down to. women are, right now, not very primed to completely write off heterosexual romance, both bc economically its harder than ever to live on your own or only with other women, and culturally to swear off men completely. that sort of shame it gives you isnt easy to shake off. look at the backlash that resulted in 4B taking off online. my answer to it: if youre gonna buy into it, make sure you protect yourself first and foremost, period.

so those are my reasons for a rad-leaning women in a heterosexual relationship. i do not encourage women in my life to be with a man ever, but i dont care if she chooses to, either. i try not to describe myself as a feminist for this reason, even though i love discussing and reading about it, because feminism is real political activism that takes full dedication and respect, and i accept that i cannot give it what it deserves at this point in my life. but that doesnt mean i cant learn more about womens liberation and history.

There are 3 eras of wifies and his person, both of whom have similar skill sets. First comes evilfies and masked wato, who create escape rooms. Then comes clonefies and ken, who escape them. Finally comes lastfies and parrot who kill to survive. (Hearts at least are technically craftable)

Ken managed to rescue clonefies by outsmarting their predecessors. By proving that clonefies was more than a clone, through a game rigged in their favor.

Parrot managed to rescue lastfies by killing their predecessors. By proving that lastfies was just a clone, through mistaking one for the other.

There are so many stars in the bright sky, all of them basically identical. It takes knowing them and how they relate to the others around them to identify them. Who could blame you if just after sunset, when only a few are visible, you mistook one star for another? (And the sun is still a star, even as it burns you. It's your fault for mistaking distance for peace, and still inviting it closer)

And then, because the spyglass reminded me, you can't look directly at the sun- it'll blind you. Parrot can't look directly at his own actions, can't look clearly at lastfies, can't process what happened. Is it because of how bright his mistakes shine? Or is it because his spyglass is stained with blood?

(and yes, in my opinion, lastfies and parrot can share being represented by the sun. Clonefies needs something specific to contrast and parrot deserves every parallel he gets)

Finally, does wato eventually stop putting hanging roots in their escape rooms? I doubt lastfies would know enough about escape rooms to confidently declare them as the most useless item, and why bother sneaking in a signature when you have to show up to help them out of softlocks you could have sworn they would never get into.

Just what do you do when you don't have any of your friends. Wifies is different, and parrot won't meet your eye and ken is trapped in a prison that blocks messages. (except no one off-server has heard from him and the prison seems abandoned when you try to arrange a visit and you're pretty sure that ken wouldn't have let his stasis despawn and this is apparently the only prison that parrot won't try to break someone out of)

the escape rooms stop having those personal touches. no hanging roots, no little injokes, hints at familiarity. theyre easier, because they know that what theyd normally make is for clonefies, who they know would figure it out. so the escape rooms are easier, and he still watches, and he still has to interfere where he shouldnt have to (why doesnt parrot pick up on these things either? (hes in denial, wato. deeeeep denial.)). its wrong on every level. because- rau!wato is so interesting. she knows that lastfies isnt clonefies. hes in WAYYY less denial than parrot (its actually impossible to out-denial rau!parrot), AND he... he was the one that found lastfies in the first place, right? so she knows about lastfies existence, she knows that something is wrong. still theres a little bit of hope (parrot wouldnt kill wifies afterall, right?) that gets held out. maybe theyve got the story wrong! but still they pull away. this wifies is wrong, theyve never been close with parrot, ken is trapped in a prison unable to escape (somethings so off about that, right? why isnt parrot helping? why is he 'respecting kens wishes' when those wishes go entirely against what he stands for? why does parrot look that way whenever ken gets mentioned? something is so wrong about this.)

what defines rau!wato is the inaction. theyre trapped in the audience, and the one time they forced their way onstage, tried to help, to do something for once, it goes wrong. and clonefies dies. now she just doesnt do anything. shes fucked everything up once already (this is all her fault, right? right?). shes got the most information out of anyone other than lastfies and parrot, shes the only one who can do anything. but he doesnt. hes messed it up already, and he doesnt know enough to get people to believe him. what do you mean, wato? what do you mean this wifies isnt the same wifies? no, hes always been this way? this violent, this quiet, this loyal- yeah sure hes a bit different from when he joined, but maybe getting chunkbanned messed him up just that much, you know? youre making things up. you have no evidence. and so wato doesnt say anything. theyre trapped in the audience, watching this play set to music that they wrote themselves, and they cant do anything about it. and everywhere he looks, theres death.

parrot and lastfies canonically die, in rau. not sure if i ever mentioned this on tumblr but whatever, am (re?)explaining it. eventually someone gets suspicious about the weirdness at proton, and maybe wato slips a piece of information or two, but they go and investigate, and theres no one there. its abandoned, more than just the lack of guards whom to ask to visit the supposed sole prisoner. theres no one there. breaking in is easy, figuring out that kenadian is not there is easier. naturally, one goes to parrot, the very person who said that ken was trapped in the first place. question him. parrot runs. lastfies follows. but parrot cant run forever, not from a bunch of people who considered ken a friend/ally, not a manhunt

this all started on a cliff, didnt it? parrot and clonefies watched the sunset from a cliff right before the lastfies thing. it ends on a cliff, too. a cliff, above the ocean. he jumps, doesnt fly, and lastfies, of course, follows willingly (theres a lot to say about lastfies). and then theyre dead, the both of them

the next day, theres an eclipse.

wato is the only person who really visits that cliff. theres this really pretty scene in the animatic milo is (was? idk) making about rau, where wato stands at that cliff during the eclipse, holding hydrangeas, and the petals fly off

onto the shore wash an earring, a spyglass, and a headband. (nothing else. parrots lost himself.)

and so, rau!wato is the last one left. out of everyone, hes the last one left. what now? pick up the pieces? sure, but theres no pieces to pick up. things remain obscured; its not like parrot or lastfies (the only ones who really knew everything, and even then their perceptions were warped in their own ways) ever wrote anything down or talked to anyone- and ken is dead, too. all she can do is piece together what she already has, and shes already done all that she could, and assumptions are dangerous, and-

its just this really really deep-seated feeling of unresolution. there will never be any resolution. watos just the last one left, left to grieve everything that happened and everyone thats died, and he cant even really talk to anyone about this, he never could, and he doesnt even know everything thats happened. hes just left to deal with the consequences of everything. and nothing is ever quite the same. whats she to do now? (they dont know.)

Also, i just saw your post about your hate to Viserys, and i feel THE SAME. It's appalling to me how people are so ready to dismiss Viserys involvement in the conflict between the targ siblings and all the horrible things he did to Aemma and Alicent, simply because he was so ready to play the "supporting father" to Rhaenyra, even though what she did WAS wrong, but are soooo ready to call out and judge Alicent in her very obvious and understandable complex feelings about her motherhood (at least talking about the show, i know it's a whole other thing in the books).

In no way i'm justifying Alicent, i'm just saying, her character until the ending of season one is a very clear consequence of the people around her taking advantage of her and manipulating her into whatever thing they needed her to be, miss girl was a VICTIM, she had that weird relationship with Otto, although it wasn't incest it was weird, she was manipulated by him, she was offered like cattle to a much older man, groomed, raped, and AGAIN, she had to offer her body in horrible ways to Larys Strong, she had to watch the children that she didn't want to have in the first place be casted aside by Viserys, Aemond being maimed too like WHAT? (I truly believe Aegon had no saving, that man was born rotten as much as Joffrey was, but i feel like with the correct parents, Aemond and Helaena would have had a better life)

I have to admit, i do have a double standard, i will never judge Jon for being a bastard, but i do judge Rhaenyra for having three. Did she have another option? Maybe, she could have waited for the marriage to be annulled after not having children. Is she to blame? Not entirely, at least in the show, she was forced to marry Laenor, but she did like a thousand tours to find one suitable and simply because she was defiant, she didn't choose someone, and she was also a teenager I KNOW, but i'm sorry it'a a theme with me, i can't have simpathy for them, they were a dynasty, they were in the Reed Keep drowning in their cups while the people of Kings Landing were starving and hating on them (righfully so). My empathy can only be streched so much, and it seems it's only reserved for anyone other than the people of Old Valyria.

Otto actually sums up to Rhaenyra why the Dance happened, and it explains why it's all Viserys's fault. "The succesion changed the day your father sired a son."

He was also right when he told a young Alicent that Rhaenyra will need to put Alicent's children to the sword, to get the Iron Throne. It was unusual, but people understood WHY they named Rhaenyra heir. There was no son, and the alternate was Daemon, whom NO ONE trusted with the throne.

If Viserys was intent to keep Rhaenyra the heir, there wouldn't be as much of contest if she remained his only child. She likely still would've also turned to Daemon for strength and marry him to intimidate any detractors who might stand against her. But, she didn't stay Visery's only child.

Viserys caused the dance by having a son, and not naming him the heir proper. According to not only Valyrian followed customs, but Andal Law which the Targaryeans primiarly have used to set up their system, they follow Male Primogeniture. It is laws and custome that dicate that Aegon has the right to the throne as the firstborn son. I'm normally not here to argue if thats right or not, since I prefer to keep my focus within the bounds of the universe the series is set in, so in this story, its fair to say Aegon has the better claim. All inheritance before and after this story will also prove that the Targaryeans beleive this as well anyways. I.e Rhaenys and Laenor losing to Viserys despite him being from the Kings second eldest son not the firstborn son, and Aegon the Conquerer both being crowned King and before that inheirting Dragonstone over his older sister Visenya who also did not press her claim when Aegon died but instead propped up her son Maegor instead. The Targaryeans have always followed this rule.

Viserys keeping Rhaenyra the named heir when the precedent which made them set that up no longer exists, he is being a hypocrite. He is not following the laws and customs of his own Kingdom. Even when she was the only heir, he still didnt even bother to truly prepare her to rule anyways just as he never prepared Aegon. Neither of them know how to rule because Viserys never taught them. Its his fault they both are so woefully unsuited to rule.

In truth, Viserys NEVER should've remarried if he wanted to keep Rhaenyra as his named heir. He caused the Dance the moment he married Alicent with the intent of fathering more children, and did not denounce Rhaenyra's status as his named heir. It is literally, all his fault. He knows the kingdom wont accept Rhaenyra if a man is an option.

He BECAME KING because of it. Rhaenys and Laenor had the better claim, but they lost because Rhaenys was a woman even though her position was stronger because her father was older. Viserys wants played favourites, neglegted his children that werent Rhaenyra, and was so ineffective that the Dance literally is his fault and no one elses.

I mean, Viserys also murdered his first wife, then maritally raped a teenage girl who he took as his second wife, a girl who when she was young, was someone who didnt do anything wrong and was literally just doing as she was told and what she thought was the right thing to do. So really, I don't care what Viserys ever wanted in the first place.

I think Aemond probably would've turned out better if the incident with Lucerys either never happened, or Lucerys was properly punished for maiming and partially blinding him. He might have not grown up with such anger and resentment. Haelena just needed to be surrounded by a family NOT called Targaryean and she would've been fine. Let her go to Oldtown and grow up with Daeron with Gwayne and she would be happy for once in her poor life.

Aegon is more complicated, I think the show unfairly demonized him in a ploy to trick the audience into automatically supporting Rhaenyra, which worked. He isn't a good person, but neither is Rhaenyra, neither is anyone. No one in the story is a good person, but Aegon gets demonized more by the show because it makes you want to support him less. Aegon definitly isn't as bad or anywhere near as bad as Joffery. Much like what Cersei told Tyrion when he said Joffery was more Robert then Jaime, she protested saying "Robert was a drunken fool but he didn't enjoy cruelty."

I think being the first born son to Viserys against Rhaenyra is what caused him to disconnect from even trying to prove himself, and Alicents persistence in making him paranoid about his life and future didnt help. Joffery is bad because cruelty was in his blood, because no one around him taught him to be that way (see none of Cerseis other children turned out that way nor did Roberts bastards turn out that way). Aegon, other then the rape thing which is bad but I really have a hard time reconciling because its so blatantly a ploy by the writers as opposed to something genuine to his character since it literally never comes up again, is someone who can be cruel but doesnt enjoy it. He just doesnt know what else to do because his entire life was surrounded by a family committing cruel acts with no consequence.

Also, its not a double standard. We dont judge Jon for being a bastard, because its not his fault. We judge Rhaenyra for mothering bastards, because doing so tarnished her image to the realm since everyone can see they arent true Velaryons, and since she lied about it, she was directly putting her children in danger because she was heir to the Throne. She did worse so, because she then had clearly trueborn Valyrian children with Daemon anyway. She was literally setting Jace up to experaicne the exact kind of succession crisis that her own father caused. Rhaenyra isnt bad for having sex and children with someone she had feelings for, shes bad for doing so without thinking of ANY of the repercussions of the sheer danger it puts her children in.

As Lyonel told Harwin about it, "Your intimacy with the Princess Rhaenyra is an offense that would mean exile and death. For you, for her, for the children." Lyonel isnt angry his son had bastards, hes angry his son willingly had three bastards with a woman that puts all of them in danger for their very existence and made it worse by lying about it.

Having bastards isnt treason, lying and pretending they are trueborn and pushing them to inheirt over trueborn children, is treason. And that puts them in danger. Thats why judging Rhaenyra for having three bastards isnt a double standard. Jon existing as a bastard put no one in danger, and Ned protected him better then Rhaenyra ever could hers. Because Jons parentage would put his life in danger, he lied, and said he was his bastard and never intended to put Jon in any spotlight of inheritance as trueborn. Ned orchestarted Jons life to be as safe as possible, Rhaenyra, orchestrated her childrens lives to be as dangerous as possible by lying about them even being bastards in the first place.

Basically, the dance is all Viserys's fault and no one elses. And Rhaenyra learned all the worst lessons from him and set her own children up to literally experiance the Dance 2.0 but everyone just died before it got to that point, so people forget how hypocritical she truly was.

Its almost like the point of the dance is that no one was on the right side and they tore the realm and their dynasty apart to fight for a side neither of them could win....You know what, I'm changing Rhaenys' season one line. to be more relevant:

"The Targaryeans would sooner put the realm to the torch, then see their own family ascend the Iron Throne."
