“I don’t know, I think Ino is probably right,” Tenten said. “Kakashi-sensei has never been stupid.”

“He has been oblivious, though,” Temari pointed out. “Have we ever even seen him date anyone? The man lacks the social awareness to know that reading porn in public is weird. You need to trust me on this. The problem is that you’re being too subtle.”

Ino leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. “What are you suggesting?”

Tenten leaned in, too. “Yeah, what’s your idea?”

Temari set her cup firmly down on the table. “You’re going to have to grab his ass.”

“I wasn’t expecting you,” Kakashi said unnecessarily, but kindly. “What are you doing here?”

“I, uh…” Sakura began, her heart in her throat. “I wanted to bring you something.” She held out the small bag she held in her right hand, a stylized teacup on its front.

Kakashi’s eyes lit up as he recognized the label. “I love that place.” His stormy grey eyes lifted from the bag to her face. “What’s the occasion?”

“Oh! Ah, well, I was just thinking of you.” She hoped she didn’t sound as flustered as she felt.

As he took the bag from her, his fingers brushed hers, and the warmth of his touch sent tingles through her. She’d always scoffed at the chaste romance novels that Hinata had recommended to her, but here she was ready to swoon at the brush of his fingers.

Maybe she needed to give those novels another try.
