So I have a question to the Bowuigi fans who have an AU where Luigi and Bowser are married.

Is Luigi's title in your AU "King Consort Luigi" (where only Bowser has the actual power) or would he officially be an actual king just like Bowser (in that he would have as much power/rule as Bowser currently does)?

I've seen multiple different ideas (not just with Bowuigi) where Mario and Luigi are king consorts, but I don't know if there's an AU where Mario and Luigi are just "King Mario" and "King Luigi."

Establishing character:

I just adore Mario and Peach so much. And before I get those funny people always like “oh Mario hates peach,” or “peach never “gives” Mario anything for saving her! He probably only does it to get something from her-“ Ima need yall to shut your trap ok 👹

First of all, Nintendo, especially with Mario characters, had no idea how to characterize their characters in the beginning. Peach changes in almost every single different medium. Take the old Nintendo power (I think) comic called the “super Mario adventures.” in which Peach is a lot more outgoing, strong, sassy, and a literal general.

Not saying this is a bad rendition of peach I actually like it! But I use it as an example of how these characters have changed over the years. And also, often times in games or stories like these where they focus more on the characters than gameplay, we see a more accurate and fleshed out character. Which is why in some other Mario games, characters often say things that might seem rude or out of character but is put there for comedy. (Nintendo obsession with making fun of Luigi in every rpg game is an example 💀). And the same goes for Mario, he’s changed a lot. But I feel in the current renditions of the characters, they have a much more stable idea of their character.

Mario’s character:

From what we see now, Mario is just an average blue collar man in his late twenty’s who is quite short and also plump. Despite this he is still THE most brave, athletic, talented, determined, occasionally hot headed, and an overall idol to the entire mushroom kingdom. He is often labeled as THE Mario. And people also express their surprised when they actually see what he looks like 💀. But the reason I bring this up is Mario is quite literally just some guy. He’s some guy who entered this foreign kingdom, heard there was a Princess in trouble, and as a New York Italien blue collar worker he could’ve easily just went on with his day or ignored these random peoples pleas, but instead, he immediately decides he will travel multiple worlds so he can save this princess and help the kingdom (also cause the game needed a incentive but still-). From the get go mario was ready to help people. He helps them not expecting anything in return, but because he has a good sense of Justice. There’s hundreds of side quests you can do with Mario, sometimes they’re ridiculous. But you know what? Mario will do it. Because he likes helping people. Because he’s a role model. And because he’s just a good guy.

Mario and Peach as a couple:

Most of the time, people who criticize or make fun of their relationship are often doing it as a joke which is fine, but this is for the people who genuinely think Peach is a jerk for not giving Mario “more” for what he does.

People often say “Mario has saved her so many times and all he gets is a kiss on the cheek!”

Now despite the fact Peach doesn’t owe Mario anything just because he saved her, I can see why people might be upset over this. However, like I said before, Mario does things not expecting rewards, but just because it’s the right thing to do and he has a duty.

People forget one dire things when it comes to love like this:

Love can be shown in many different ways

Peach kissing Mario in the cheek wasn’t proof that they were in love or together. I’d argue they weren’t really at all in the beginning. Except maybe a slight crush. A kiss on the cheek is often just a gesture of gratitude. Peach usually kissed anyone who saved her. It’s just her way of saying thank you.

What really shows that Mario and peach love one another is how they interact. The things they say and do. They don’t need to kiss to prove they’re in love, it’s simply implied with how they interact with one another. Whether it’s small gestures like holding one’s hand before a big game, or something such as trusting the other person to give you a boost so you can save your partners rabbid version of themselves from an evil space fish.

Or! It can be something more direct, like peach literally looking Mario in the eyes and saying this:

Or when she is scared but assured herself she will be ok as long as she has Mario!

It’s these little things that speak larger than words. Mario and peach simply have a relationship that is there but doesn’t need to be forced down your throats to convince you that they’re in love. They simply are. And their love is shown in many ways. Love comes in all shapes and sizes, and so does Mario and Peach!

Now have Mario dancing like a middle aged dad snapping his little fingers to make Peach laugh :)

👑🍑 Why Peach Is One Of My Favorite Comfort Characters 🍑👑

It’s Princess Peach Month, babes, and as a fangirl, I’m obligated to make a post like this become a reality. Feels quite sinful that I wasn’t able to jack for the month last year (aside from reposting some cringy fanart), but this year I’ll try and bring my A game this year. Was also inspired to make this post after reading some articles that are in defense of characters that are in a similar vein to Peach, like Daphne Blake and the Disney Princesses (specifically the classic ones like Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora).

Last year, I made a post where I partially went in defense of the pink diplomat, but for this post, I’m gonna go in full defense of her, and also why she’s personally special to me.

Now, where do I even begin? Imo, Peach has been one of the most unnecessarily lambasted, maligned, overhated but also misunderstood characters in not just Super Mario, video games, but also fiction as a whole.

One of the most talked about criticisms I hear about her is, “ShE’s UsElEsS, aNd Is aLwAyS bEiNg KiDnApPeD LiKe EvErY dAy”. While it kinda has become somewhat of a running gag in the series, I am willing to admit that she’s not always able to defend herself. However, I’m still here to say that’s she’s far from useless or weak, girlie clearly can defend herself, like- are y’all really forgetting the many times where she can be strong like in SM3DW, Mario + Rabbids, SMB2, SMBW, SMRPG, and so many other titles? Hell, are we really forgetting about the movie that literally just came out a year ago where she’s being a strong, dutiful leader, AND the fact that she has two solo starring games where it was her turn to save the day all by herself? Let’s also not forget the Smash Bros. series where she’s one of the highest ranked characters in three of the entries. And also, it’s not, “every day”, some of y’all need to stop exaggerating that 💀

Even when in captivity, she still manages to help out Mario by sneaking 1-Ups like in Mario Galaxy. It irks me with how stuff like this is often ignored in order to pigeonhole her into the damsel role, when she is strong in her own right. She doesn’t always get captured, and more people could understand this if they stopped degrading her for Bowser and Daisy’s actions.

Speaking of Daisy, another criticism that I hear about her is, “ShE’s A bAd FrIeNd To DaIsY, aNd BeTrAyEd HeR fOr RoSaLiNa.” Jesus H. Christ, this one genuinely makes my blood boil. Daisy is another one of my favorite characters in the series that is special to me, and it makes me upset with how her and Peach’s friendship is often portrayed in the fandom. Like, show me proof. Show me factual evidence that Peach “betrayed” Daisy that isn’t from fanart, fanfiction, animations, or anything else fanmade. This is giving the same vibes as, “Mario is a bad/abusive brother to Luigi” rumor that MatPat popularized and I hate it sm. And while we’re at it, can we not throw Rosalina under the bus, she herself gets an unnecessary and unneeded amount of hate already :/

Peach and Daisy are canonically BFFLs, and I hate hate hate how they’re usually portrayed as enemies. I remember seeing so much fanart back in the day where Daisy is bullying, fighting, or being straight up toxic towards Peach. I do see Daisy playfully teasing Peach and being competitive, but being toxic? No, honey, no 😣

And now moving on to my next criticism which is, “ShE’s ToO sTuPiD aNd GiRlY”. Aah yes, the whole, “being hyper feminine/girly is bad” trope, oh how I have not missed you. First of all, Peach is not stupid. Naive? Yes. But she’s no dumb blonde, or airhead, or ditz, or bimbo, or whatever the hell type of pejorative, misogynistic, blonde stereotype-based word you wanna throw at her. She’s clever, and has been able to use her smarts to outwit her captors. And newsflash, there's absolutely nothing wrong with loving traditionally feminine things like baking cakes, or fashion, or liking the color pink. It kinda rubs me the wrong way with how people remove the feminine aspects about Peach and the other things that make her special in order to have her be taken seriously. They just end up making her a Daisy clone. You can be both girly and badass too, y’know!

And here’s my final criticism that I hear about her, “ShE’s A sPoIlEd, StUcK uP bRaT wHo DoEsN’t CaRe AbOuT mArIo”. Look, just because she’s filthy stinking rich, doesn’t mean she’s a spoiled brat. This is yet another thing I see her being portrayed in fanmade stuff; spoiled, bratty, entitled, and bitchy, and I’m just here like, “Did y’all mistake her for Wendy, or?”. Peach is one of the sweetest, empathetic, selfless, and most wholesome characters in the series, and would never act like that.

But nope, pink = girliness, and girliness = bad, so that means we gotta make her a complete Karen/s

I get alternative character interpretations exists, but I feel like people use that as an excuse to deliberately demonize and flanderize characters for the sake of it -_-

As for Mario, have you guys even played any of the games? She clearly does love and care about him and is grateful for what he’s done for her. She thanks him for helping her, giving him kisses, baking cakes for him, and inviting him to fun places. If she “didn’t care about him”, then she wouldn’t be doing all the above mentioned stuff for him. And something I also forgot to mention in my Y2K Peach post is how people assume she has Stockholm Syndrome- which she doesn’t. She clearly doesn’t like Bowser, wants nothing to do with him, and shows 0 romantic interest in him, so how could she have Stockholm Syndrome lmao

Phew, glad I got all of that off my chest. Stuff like this has been bugging me for so long, so I’m glad to finally let it all out. Now I’m gonna explain why I find Peach to be one of my favorite comfort characters.

Ever since I was a small tot, I’ve always admired Peach. She was pretty, pink, super girly and ruled a whole damn kingdom. While she isn’t always strong, there are still times where she’s able to put her foot down and stand up for her friends and herself. She puts her subjects' needs before her own needs, and is basically a gentle soul. She’s also a jack of all trades, she’s not just a baker, but also a golfer, tennis player, kart racer, equestrian, and so much more. She’s also able to be patient with others, and sees the good in even the wickedest of people.

I especially loved playing as her in the Smash Bros. games, I’ve been a Peach main ever since the Brawl days. Her inclusion in the series just shows me that, even if you love doing unapologetically feminine things like wearing dresses, painting your nails, shopping, or cooking, you still matter. You’re still capable and strong in your own way, and you can still save the day. Embrace who you are. To this day, I still find this to be an empowering message that not just young girls, but anyone can resonate with. This is why Peach has always been a special character to me <3

Apologies if I kinda went into, “I’m 14 and this is deep” territory, but that’s just what I truly feel about Peach. She’s no damsel in distress, or a pretty face, or a walking talking prize, she’s much much more than that. She’s one of the best characters, and deserves better not just in the games, but in the fandom as well.

I’m probably gonna get crucified and clowned on for this, but Idc, I spoke my truth 😤

- Okay first things first I would like to say, how? How did you get the well known dictator to decide to pursue a relationship with you? Knowing him you probably must have caught his eye in a way which caused him to go up to you. To have someone like him being interested in you is something. Admittingly you were a little suspicious of him having alternative motives regardless you decided to go along with it. But surprisingly he was actually pretty cool to be around. Like sure he did some shit to people but let’s ignore that but like I said earlier you managed to catch his attention which means that he genuinely wanted to know you better unlike anyone else.

- Before and even after you and him decided to be in a relationship with each other he’s very smug out of the two of you. He’s just naturally cocky and a little shit but that’s why we love him. He likes to tease you by giving you off handed comments every time you two decide to hang out. But besides that he does genuinely enjoy being around you he just expresses it in his way which can be different from other people but it is what it is and as long as you don’t mind it then he doesn’t see the harm in it.

- You thought you were surprised when he wanted to be friends with you. Well you were even more surprised when you found out he liked you. Like sure you saw that he treated you differently to other people but you didn’t pay that much attention to it. Even the dictator himself was surprised at his sudden love for you. At first he didn’t want to admit it, not because he was afraid of how you would react, he's just stubborn. It takes him a while to be open with his feelings because he feels like he needs to constantly be seen as tough instead of a person who instantly gets soft because of someone. Like sure every time he hangs out with you his heart beats faster, a smile forms on his face when you say something simple even chuckling to himself when you say something funny, the way he just stares at you paying attention to every detail of your face, sometimes getting caught by his brother Luigi smiling to himself because he suddenly decided to think of you. But even then he’s too stubborn to admit it, despite concrete evidence of his love for you.

- But even with his stubbornness he does reach a breaking point where he has to tell you that he likes you or else god knows what he might do if he doesn’t. So he decided to plan a totally not mini date for you. Telling his brother to make sure no one interrupts the two of you. He surprisingly put a lot of effort into it. You never knew he could be such a romantic when putting an effort into it. It took some time but eventually he did tell you how he felt about you, in his own way to which you accepted them.

- He kind of has a soft spot for you in a way although he doesn’t directly, like I said he can be quite stubborn he prefers to show his love for you in private. He doesn’t often do it in public, the most he’ll do is hold your hand, having you close to him. The only time I can imagine him actually being willing to be lovey open is if he has to. Mostly if he thinks someone isn’t taking yours and his relationship seriously. The shit this man will do just to show people that no you aren’t single and yes you are dating him is something.

- He’s surprisingly really flirty and loving towards you. He knows what gets you flustered and honestly he really likes seeing you become a stuttering mess. He does some many romantic gestures towards you from something simple as kissing your hand to many more things. The more time you spend around him the more romantic he becomes. He likes having you close to him, having his arms around you, his hands constantly on your body just keeping you there until he’s done, even if you or him need to do something.

- He can be extremely clingy depending on his mood. It’s kind of refreshing seeing him like this, after doing his usual shit sometimes all he likes to think about is just going back home seeing you and just cuddling with you, resting till the both of you fall asleep. At this point he doesn’t really care if he does come across as clingy. He waited for however long he did to see you again, it’s not his fault he’s not actually happy till he sees you.

- It kind of takes him a bit to get jealous, not too quickly but not that long but with the right way you can get him jealous. When he does he just gives the person the meanest death glare causing shivers being sent said person's back. Around you he gets a bit pouty and as mentioned earlier overly loving. He honestly doesn’t understand how someone else has the balls to flirt with you, especially around him. He finds those types of people clearly idiotic considering his reputation would anyone be stupid enough to do that.

- Obviously due to his role as a dictator you can often find yourself hanging out with him in his office. Also since you and him often like to hang out there you often found yourself talking to his brother Luigi as well. He’s pretty much the only person Mario trusts to be around you. I mean with him being his brother and his bodyguard he knows he won’t do anything with you. When he’s unable to make sure you're ok he asks his brother to check up on you and if anything is bothering you he tells his brother before getting rid of what was making you uncomfortable.

- Overall, despite his background he can actually be good to be around and a loving person.

I'd imagine when it comes to rulers, the topic of alliances often comes up.

It's also not new in this universe for different kingdoms to exist, since I'm pretty sure people like Daisy, Rosalina, and Bowser count as rulers and that's not even all of them.

It would make sense if you also ruled over your own people.

Plus, the Mushroom Kingdom is one of the most well known kingdoms.

You probably decided to create an alliance with them, or maybe Peach contacted you due to her issues with Bowser.

Either way your first meeting with Peach is most likely via a royal meeting or something similar.

At first your feelings towards each other is professional.

At least... it's professional to you.

The meeting was called as it's believed your kingdom and the Mushroom Kingdom can benefit from each other in an alliance.

Peach is rather extroverted and sociable.

Through the entire meeting she talks to you in a sweet yet polite tone and speaking with the princess is a pleasurable experience.

Although, here's the yandere behavior I pulled for her from a request I did awhile ago;

Peach would be Manipulative, Caring, Obsessive, Delusional, Patient, Protective, yet Temperamental at times.

She's the type where you have no idea she's anything darker beneath all the pink and happy smiles.

She'd be the type to manipulate things behind the scenes, distracting you with a pretty face until it's too late.

Even when she has you in her grasp, your little room/cage would be just as pink as the rest of her.

She's that kind of yan, pretty and cutesy even as she does things out of character.

Peach would be charismatic with a ruler darling.

When she talks to you she just seems so agreeable.

To be fair her obsession starts when she meets you, it acts rather quickly.

But you won't know about it until much later.

Which means you won't regret the alliance until it's fully situated.

Peach would be one to often invite you to her castle.

Similar to Mario and Luigi, she invites you to a cake party to chat.

It's usually always alone but she invites the two brothers just to have you accustomed to them.

Your kingdom often sends soldiers to help against Bowser, that's primarily your alliance.

Peach is certainly a yandere who'd be hard to tell.

Nothing about her really screams yandere.

She just appears to be a fellow rule and friend.

She appears to just be close to you, sure she can feel demanding at times, but nothing too bad... right?

Honestly by the time something bad happens she'll already have you in your own personal room with the door locked.

With a smile Peach would drug your cake and allow you to enjoy.

Only for you to wake up somewhere with blindingly pink and white walls.

Peach can be temperamental which would make her jealous rather easily.

She tries to hide how much she hates others speaking with you.

Regardless on if she sees you as just a friend/ally or more, she feels there's only one way to keep you to herself.

Don't worry, the room you'll wake up in is big and comfy.

Perhaps all the times she was kidnapped has gotten to her.

She knows you don't deserve a cage like she was given.

You deserve a soft room, warm meals, and lots of affection....

She'll happily give you all you deserve with a smile!

She'll dress you in clothing with mushroom designs, covered in pink to match her.

She never tells anyone but maybe Toad, her servant, about the truth.

Your kingdom is told that you now live with Peach.

Which would mean they need a new ruler... but Peach can take care of that too, right?

She tells Mario and Luigi that you're just busy when they ask about you, always looking the door to your room.

Even the restraints she gives you are soft to prevent you escaping.

Peach plans to remove all personal autonomy from you.

Ironically she feels like a nicer Bowser.

Again, their past may have something to do with it.

But Peach throws a fit when you compare her to the beast.

She's so much better than him.

LOL thank you for taking interest in my gay luigi posts. I actually did make one of these before but that was two years ago and also mostly jokes so I think this is as good a time as any to do it again but in serious mode. I have also changed my mind on some of these so they might not all line up with the other post but such is life. Obligatory "That's My Opinion" so if my tabloid speculations don't line up with yours feel free to imagine me falling down a very deep hole, or you can squint your eyes and pretend you're squishing my icon between your fingers like a bug if that's more your speed

WARIO: Briefly said this in the mario post but sure I'll go into more detail about wario's sex life, I think he's aromantic and bisexual. I do realize it comes off as kind of shitty to make Mario be Romantic Asexual and "Evil Mario" be Aromantic Sexual, but as a Wario Megafan I just think that he values his friendships a lot more, and given what we have seen of wario's disgust for romance despite his very active libido* (I promise that link is not as bad as it looks), I think it would be remiss to pretend that he would ever want to settle down with someone. He still loves people in a platonic way - even beyond the warioware cast, he cared a lot about princess shokora by the end of WL4, and even though he does not necessarily LIKE waluigi (and I do subscribe to poppadopolos theory so I am of the belief that they were fuckin' and truckin' for a good portion of the early 2000's), I think wario still cares about him in his wario way. They are like a divorced couple that still has kids except instead of kids it's cheating at tennis. Also, I think that wario is transgender, because it explains a lot about him (e.g. his lack of nipples) and because that way nobody has to think about what his "real name" was before it was wario. It was his deadname! Everybody go home! Have a rotten day!

*I do not think that wario would canonically catcall random news reporters but I'm still counting this as nebulous evidence that wario can be horny

MONA: I think that she is bisexual but doesn't know it at this point in time and also isn't really stressing about it. Her taste is kind of skewed towards whatever wario is (in a puppy love type of way i do NOT ship them), but if she ended up having a close friendship with a girl her age I could see her catching feelings. I don't wanna say that her thing with wario is comphet because that's not entirely true but I do think that his unattainability is a comfortable way for her to not have to think about actually getting into a relationship. (For the record, I don't think she even wants to BE in a relationship with him, I think she is perfectly happy with the way things are, but mona has TMI'd about her opinion on wario's physique often enough that I kind of get the idea.)

SPITZ: I am soooooo sorry. But I think that he is straight. More power to you guys but I never really got into dribblenspitz as a Ship because I associate their dynamic so strongly with the Cool Boss + Rookie dynamic that we have all been at least one half of that I can't imagine them in a romantic relationship. They have the most beautiful bromance of course, they would go to the ends of the earth for each other, but they wouldn't smooch. I think that spitz's dating life is/has been kind of sad (not in a angst way in a regular way) and were he to go back into the dating scene dribble would hype him up about it and give him advice and spitz would be like hey why don't you have a girlfriend? ORBULON: Orbulon is hard to pigeonhole into these labels because the guys on orbulon's home planet operate on an entirely different paradigm from humans on earth. Reproduction via budding, communal childrearing, telepathic mega-cliques*.....on Earth, orbulon certainly has no interest in romance or beyond (both because he has no need for it and because he is two thousand years old on the planet of the apes), but he does have fun being a girl. You could call him "genderfluid", but he also doesn't feel too much of a connection to earth genders in general; he just likes wearing different hats.

CRYGOR: I think that he has had no interest in romance for a hundred years, but also if he randomly picked up a stepdad for his adult children one day I would not be mad. (Mike might be, but he would eventually come around due to the Power of Love and whatnot.) PENNY: The reason I don't think penny is his granddaughter is because I still think she is a transgender clone of dr crygor. I think that crygor is enthusiastically supportive of her, gets her all the pink glittery shit her heart could desire, and helped her transition with his Science Inventions. I also think she is a lesbian, although I don't Ship her with anyone in the main cast (sorry again).

Soulmate AU where you can feel the other's pain

It goes without saying that Mario and DK get beat up

A lot

Mario is bullied growing up, and so it's not uncommon for him to come home with bruises and scrapes

Things only get worse when people try to bully Luigi

Mario can tolerate people bullying him (to a certain extent) but he will never allow people to pick on his brother

So now, in addition to people picking fights with him, he starts getting into fights with people who try to mess with Luigi

As a result, pain is a frequent occurrence for Mario

Donkey Kong is concerned

Warrior training starts young for his people, but he's been feeling pain from an even younger age, and some of the pain that he feels from his soulmate occurs outside of training hours

DK isn't worried at first, but as he grows up, and he feels the pain become more frequent, the more he grows concerned

He worries that someone is beating up his soulmate, and so he keeps a lookout for anyone in his kingdom that might be picked on

He doesn't find anything

But Donkey Kong's always looking, and hopes that one day he can find his soulmate and make sure that no one ever hurts them again

He acknowledged that he's a hypocrite though

His injuries are in some way voluntary, but he worries that it's not the same for his soulmate

He trains constantly and is often entering into battles, experiencing pain on a regular basis

DK feels bad because he doesn't want to cause his soulmate any more pain, but at the same time he knows that he has to do this

He works hard in training to make sure that in fights he won't acquire any unnecessary injuries

Mario also worries about his soulmate, he hopes that whoever it is doesn't have to go through what he does

After Mario falls through the pipe and ends up traveling to the Jungle Kingdom, he finally meets DK on the battlefield

Their battle takes a different turn when they can feel each other's pain

Donkey Kong is ready to defeat this puny (kinda attractive) human, to prove his worth to his father and to make sure he's not conscripted into a battle that might cause his soulmate to feel pain that they don't deserve

Mario has been fighting his whole life, and even though he knows he's in for pain, he's ready for it

Neither of them are ready for this

This battle immediately does not go well

Donkey Kong gets in a killer first blow, and immediately reels back in pain

Mario is not doing well after the hit, but uses DK's confusion at feeling unknown pain to his advantage

Even though he's not very strong, he manages to give Donkey Kong a pretty good punch

And immediately feels bad

At this point they are both confused

They've felt pain at the same time as their soulmate a few times before, but never like this

Donkey Kong is stunned into silence, wondering what's going on

They stare at each other

Ohh? Chronic Pain Mario? Then I raise you Mario with Arthritis. Like this poor man’s body when the weather changes, the deep constant aches in his limbs, his arms, back in his hands. Him realizes that he’s getting slower, more fatigued. His decreasing muscle range. He’s no longer able to jump or run like he used to, his limbs just get to stiff and feel like stones half the time

How frustrating it is cuz he’s not even that old. Only in his late 30s when he finally sees the change.

Luigi noticing long before that but never said anything for fear of upsetting his brother and that’s why Luigi has been tagging along with him more often, taking on the heavy lifting when before that had been his job.

Eventually, another month goes by & he gets himself a cane. It hurts, it’s embarrassing but the worried look on Luigi’s face hurts him even more so he grits his teeth regardless.

It’s 1000% a headcanon of mine that he develops arthritis. I wrote a post with headcanons about him and Peach growing old together, and I definitely see him starting to slowly lose his physical abilities as he ages, largely because of how he kind of abuses his body in his youth/young adulthood. His poor goddamn joints 💔

But now I LOVE the idea of it happening even earlier. Hi I’m 27 and I have arthritis so time for projecting onto my fave characters once again. It happens kind of suddenly, he just wakes up and he’s in pain, but passes it off as from a hard fight with Bowser or something. But then the pain just…. Never goes away.

He tries to hide it for as long as he can, and just suck it up, but people notice. It starts getting in the way. Even plumbing becomes a chore, and some days he has to pretend he just wants Luigi to get in some extra practice with the wrench, but in actuality his wrist hurts too much to bend that way, and if he gets down on his knees he might not get back up.

And you’re right, he’s embarrassed by it, and he goes down kicking and screaming because he’s Super Mario. He’s supposed to be the hero, and here he is not even middle aged, and he’s having trouble with the most basic daily tasks. How is he supposed to keep rescuing Peach when he can barely lift his arms above his head to reach in the cupboard? How is he supposed to keep anyone safe, his only purpose in life, when he’s too tired to walk into the other room? When getting up and moving in the morning takes ten times longer than it used to? When he can’t focus on anything except how much pain he’s in?

It gets to the point where he just doesn’t know what else to do but hide and cry about it. Who is he if he can’t be what everyone needs him to be?

It kills him, and Luigi and Peach can see how much it’s killing him, but it’s not until they confront him and tell him how much they can tell he’s hurting that he finally agrees to get help. He uses a cane and other assistive devices, and takes medication, and starts asking for help when he needs it (some of the time—he’s still pretty stubborn, and pushes himself more often than not). It’s one of the hardest adjustments he’s ever had to make, and it takes a really long time for him to stop feeling sorry for himself, but his loved ones help him get there eventually 💕

a few things before I start explaining away

Since Meggy's death each member of the gang have started wearing an article of orange in they're usually outfits (Saiko's twin tail ribbons are orange, Tari has an orange arm band on her hoodie, Mario has an orange Inkling patch stitched onto his overalls etc.) as a way to commemorate her

The three pieces of Meggy's head gear went to Luigi (beanie), Mario (headphones) and Tari (goggles) all three of them guard these pieces with they're lives

So many people blame themselves for Meggy's death that it can give someone chronic depression (read: me) but here's a few people of note

Axol: Despite the reassurances of the gang (including that of Desti's) Axol deeply blames himself for not knowing that Francis had made another Sephiroth and being able to erase it before it went and killed someone

Paige: Since their older sisters death they have double down on being the NSS's Captain and have worked harder than ever before much to the other agent's worry and concern, they have sever survivor's guilt an a guilt complex and as much as the other agents and cuttle fish try to help they either outright refuse or avoid them however that may change soon during the NSS's exploration of the ancient human settlement known as Altera

Tari: having lost her best friend and in the throws of grief she decided to learn to be stronger earlier than in canon with the help of Saiko surprisingly out of everyone she seems to have gotten a control over her grief, she still deeply wishes Meggy were still here with them but she knows that's not possible however she's been having strange dreams lately of her late friend but surely those are just that, dreams... Or are they?

Luigi: Since Meggy's death he has learned to not be as much of a scaredy cat and to pull his weight around in the team he still deeply misses her but he also acts as a rock for whenever the grief of the others gets too much for them, Especially for Mario however he like the others misses her greatly and often tries to 'think like Meggy' as he puts it when stuck in a pickle

Mario: Out of everyone he has the most grief over the lost of his best friend and sister, because of this it was like a switch was flipped and now he acts more subdued and not as chaotic (think of him as a mix between his memey self and pre-smg4 self) (which deeply disturbs everyone, even Peach surprisingly enough) however he is still the Avatar of the universe so he still gets dragged into insane adventures because of it only with a more subdued attitude and more responsible and smart (again deeply disturbs everyone) he often wonders that if he didn't instigate the anime challenge would none of this have happened? Luigi tries to assist him in processing the grief and guilt and help with his depression but it doesn't seem to be quite working

Desti: she is currently on the hunt for Sephiroths head and to get revenge so she has too much anger right now to process her guilt and grief which can rival even Mario's if not surpass it

Peach: since the fiasco of the anime arc Peach has become more thoughtful to others and careful in her decisions regarding Mario's antics and feels responsible for this mess having happened (she WAS the one responsible placing the ban in the first place) she acts much like her canon self here, everyone has mixed feelings over her however, Saiko especially who personally blames Peach for what she sees as causing the death of her friend Saiko hasn't really expressed this as not to aggravate the others but Peach sorta knows with how often Saiko shoots the Stink Eye at her

And that's about it now onto the au itself

During Splatoon 3's story mode (or at least this universe's version of it) the NSS find themselves stalked by a cat-like creature covered in scars and brown fur

(honestly they wouldn't really have noticed if not for Captain 3 halting everyone from moving pointing out that they were being watched by something and ironically enough the thing showed itself) shockingly though it began to smother Captain 3 with affection and purring like crazy much to Paige's annoyance and confusion and Callie and Marie's amusement

Callie: hehehe, it looks like it likes you captain

Anyways now the NSS has this weird ass cat thing that's very clingy to their captain (the amount of black mail Andi has now is insane) and seems to have grown a liking to Andi as well ironically enough and ends up helping in the space battle quite a lot

Meanwhile as this is happening harbor and 8 end up helping Desti who was on the back ropes to defeat Sephiroth (much to her reluctance and stubbornness) and ends up taking her back to homebase cause 1. Cuttlefish were worried sick about her and 2. They ain't letting her disappear for several months again and it's here where they find out about the giant cat monster thing that the NSS have came to call Fuzzball instead of Subject 001 (which was the codename Mr. Grizz gave her) who takes an extreme liking to Desti MUCH to her confusion

Anyways something something the NSS and the smg4 crew have they're monthly meet up with a giant fuzzy cat thing in tow and because of E. Gadd shenanigans they find out that Fuzzball is actually Meggy *insert moment of disbelief and tear it filled moment here along with a bunch of reactions*

So anyways thanks to a combination of E. Gadd, the NSS, some help from Marina's memeverse and memery fuckery cause why tf not, they are able to find a cure for fuzzification for both the affected octarians and Meggy

But because of how long she's been trapped in Grizzco. and how long she's been experimented they weren't able to cure her all the way so now she's a cat bear squid human thing but that's just fine by the gang because they'll always love Meggy no matter what and BOY did they miss her

Ohh, that's actually an interesting thought! Lets see...

Daisy: I think she is the same or close to Peach's age so her age with Luigi would be pretty close. By now, they're heir would have taken over the throne of Sarasaland so all they have to do is enjoy life without the duty of serving as Emperor and Empress, though they'd stick around to support their family and people when needed. The two would want to go around the world a lot more now that they have the time, especially to spend time with Mario, Peach and their own children (which I just posted a drawing of-). They still play sports as they are still able to be active thanks to all the years of physical exercise but it won't be as intense as back then as there are limitations now. That's all I have really, simple, lovely old couple days.

Peasley: Now this will be hard to predict on Peasley's part since we don't know how long a Beanish person lives for, could be longer or shorter than the human life span. Kinda wanna go with the theory that it's a bit shorter since it's a bean and not an immortal or power and long-lasting being. Then again Peasley seems a bit younger than Luigi so it won't be that much of a problem. They would mostly settle in the BeanBean Kingdom but in a normal house where they can live peaceful and romantic lives. Peasley would continue his cheesy, romantic attitude that stills makes Luigi feel fluttered and giddy, while Luigi shows his own affection in other ways, taking care of him with extra care and tenderness. It's a way of letting each other know that they will love each other till their days end.

Dreambert: Pi'illos have a longer life span that humans so Dreambert wants to stick to Luigi as much as he can when the years starts to really pass, wanting Luigi to feel supported and loved. Luigi often calms him down when he gets a bit too worried about his health and ensures him that everything will be alright. The insomnia is pretty much gone at this point so both their dreams are sweet and pleasant, merging them every night so they can enjoy it together. The best part in their opinion is watching their son be a Pi'illo they can't be proud of, even better when their grandchildren came into the picture, Luigi ended up crying his eyes out in pure joy at being a grandpa. Dreambert actually got interested in Eldream's work and when he passed, he took over and followed in his footsteps.

Bowser: Bowser has really calmed down after all these years with Luigi and has gotten closer to the others, his kingdom forming a Peace Treaty long before he gave up his throne to Jr and even forming more healthy alliances thanks to Luigi and even Peach's help. But he had a lot to apologise and make up for, especially after being considered a world-wide threat. But it worked out in the end and things are finally peaceful. He likes to sit back and relax with his husband and children when they visit but he also likes to become useful and since he's knowledgeable in fighting and power, he offers assistance in training his own other other kingdoms' troops for better security results and how to properly use said power. Luigi really wanted to spend his days in a place with more greenery but he couldn't bare make Bowser leave his homeland like he had to so he used his old house as a vacation house that he visits often. If Luigi takes too long to come back, Bowser gets back on his kidnapping antics and "kidnaps" him back home.

King Boo: King Boo isn't too worried of how many living years Luigi has left as they will still be together as ghosts but he hates seeing his health slowly get worse and experiences the pain of seeing someone you love die. It starts to hurt but tries to make it better by remembering that they will still be together and won't have to worry about living barriers. Luigi is more than aware of his worries no matter how much he tries to hide them and spends a lot of time comforting King Boo and offering any sort of distraction to calm him down. Luigi took over E-Gadd's work when the professor passed but doesn't use the same methods, preferring to interview instead of experimenting, makes for lovely chats over tea or coffee. The two love spending time with the boos and Luigi started joining on on the smaller, more fun scares, Halloween being the best time ever, turns out Luigi knows a lot more about horror than the king guessed and it made him fall harder for him. Luigi started to get a bit self-cautious as he got older, but King Boo was quick to shut that down and show him how much he still loved him. Luckily, Mario doesn't get put in a painting anymore but he still isn't in a totally friendly relationship with the king, he just tolerates him and stays polite with him. Luigi sets his husband straight if he starts to become a prick to his brother, that's a big no-no he won't allow no matter how much King Boo whines and tries to downplay. Looks like some things never change, even after death.

Antasma: while Antasma stayed in Pi'illo Island since it's his homeland and has the food he needs most, he found he wasn't as hurt to leave it and go to the Mushroom Kingdom with Luigi, preferred it actually. It was so nice and different, aside from the grating voices of the Toads, he got as used to it as he could. There was actually a lot more food than he thought he'd find, since there weren't any other dream bats to compete against, but he stills goes back with Luigi when he wants to visit, which is where they also found their colony. Antasma doesn't worry about his age or how long he has to live as it depends on how many dreams he eats and how much power he has to keep himself alive still, but it starts to lessen the older Luigi gets so they can experience being old together. He doesn't stop eating all together, he just eats more of what Luigi cooks instead of dreams, which he happens to actually enjoy. He mostly follows Luigi's lead on how they live their old days, aside from the off chance that he wants to experience something he heard of or saw and grew interested in, the most fun he had was visiting some the museums that caught his eye. Their days together or quiet and calm, filled with naps, cuddles and a whole lot of affection for each other and their children as they grow. Antasma is really amazed at how he got to this and while he may regret the things he did, if it meant having what he had now, he'd do it all over again.

Dimentio: he doesn't grow old like Luigi and he tries his best to hide his panic at seeing Luigi's body slowly give up on him, until he has enough after a doctor's visit and desperately insists that he finds a way to give Luigi more years or to make him immortal in aspect of aging but to his devastation, Luigi obviously refuses, he wouldn't be able to bare that like Dimentio does. Dimentio is in distress at this because he knows where Luigi's soul will end up and he can't bare to loose him and never be able to see him again. Luigi can't calm him down but he does his best to give the best memories he can together and works on building a support system for Dimentio. The jester ends up slowly accepting the cycle of life for humans and spends as much time as he can with Luigi and enjoys it a lot more than he thought he would, finally seeing why Luigi loves life so much. He'll miss him but he doesn't to miss him just yet. All he has to do is enjoy the time given to them and cherish it.

OKay first let's talk about how King Boo is the perfect nemesis to Luigi the way Bowser is to Mario.

Mario is constantly associated with fire, is a physical, direct fighter. He's straightforward and simple in his concept, and so is Bowser : hero vs dragon, loud braggart vs silent humble guy, that kind of thing.

Luigi is...a weird case. He's more flawed and complex; he's scared, he's greedy, he's feeling overshadowed, he's clumsy, he's a loser. He's usually Mario's counterpart when it comes to ability but that's hardly consistent : is the opposite of fire lightning? Ice? Water?

What is Luigi's deal ?

One of the most consistent theme of that yin-yang is the Sun/Moon theme. Mario, bright, burning, shining, warming through his presence and bringing life. Luigi, shy and secretive, hiding in the shadows, weird powers abound, and his games are all focused around night and ghosts (and by extension death).

There's some moral ambiguity in his actions too: fans have been debating for years about how much E.Gadd and King Boo are justified in their respective actions. Is E.Gadd a sinister scientist capturing sentient creatures and people into portraits, or a well-meaning scientist trying to prevent ghosts from being dangerous? Is King Boo trying to protect his Boos or is he just a petty bastard? You wouldn't get that kind of debate about Mario fighting Bowser (unless you're an edgy youtuber trying to make noise)

And people have pointed out before me, but Luigi is often paired with nice people and villains alike, because where Mario is incorruptible as the Hero, Luigi would be more vulnerable to the sirens of evil, even if he never actually turned evil, because he's a sweety pie.

He's more like King Boo than he would like.

There's also the supreme irony of Luigi being so terrified of ghosts that of course his main enemies are all kind of ghosts, spirits and such. And yet ! He can be friendly with them! Polterpup of course, and other ghosts, he wouldn't attack them if he could! He just wants to take a nap without someone trying to murder him!!! So it's funny for me to picture him befriending the Boos, including their King, especially when at first the latter wants to KILL KILL BITE BITE. Speaking of which, I love fanarts in which KB has a gaggle of lil boos cheering him up in his attempts to woo Luigi. Go get'im, boss! You're irresistible, surely this time he'll fall for you!

Oh yeah, because I LOVE the trope of KB having been trying to seduce Luigi all this time and kidnapping his family was the best he could come up with. Honestly, look at how long he let Luigi run around in every Mansion instead of just swarming him!

(Now I want a fic where KB just goes "you know what, screw it, I've waited long enough ,ALL ON HIM!!" ...how angsty or humorous it gets is up to you ;p)

I had a joke at some point (and now it fits with the ghost seducer AU) that all that money Luigi finds is KB paying Luigi for cleaning up, or sugar daddy-ing him up and trying to get him to stay.

Excavation - Chapter 1

Now that everything's calmed down slightly, Daisy explains why she's there. Mainly looking for the heroes' help in solving a problem that's coming from deep in one of her Kingdom's temples.

The group divides into two parts: One to solve the temple issue while the other tries to convince the Desert King to join forces against Bowser.

To everyone's surprise, it doesn't quite go according to plan.

Taking a slow, deep breath, Daisy gave a nod to encourage herself and started. 

“One of our oldest temples has started to crumble. We’re unsure as to why, but there are some warning signs pointing to something powerful currently trapped inside. And that it’s trying to get out. Quickly. Causing quakes to happen more often. While we’re worried, we also don’t have anyone who can go in to figure out what’s going on. No one’s ever been trained to ever traverse such dangerous areas, and there’s a fearful thought that we don’t have time to train them before something goes wrong.”

“My father refuses to try and reach out for help, from any kingdom. But I know that my home is in danger yet I’ve been held back from trying to figure things out. That’s why I’m here. My kingdom, my home, needs your help. If whatever is trapped inside is released, I’m terrified of what could happen.”

The room was quiet after this. Peach sharing a worried look with Mario. Who gave a short nod back with a smile that caused the princess to relax. 

“Of course we will help.” Peach offered, beaming as Daisy’s shoulders dropped in her own relief. “We’ll pack up and leave as soon as we can.”

“Wait, wait, wait,” Wario waves his hands. Leaning on the table to stare the princess in yellow down. “If you’re not training anyone, then what has your father been doing? And how dangerous are we talking about?”

Daisy frowned softly at the question, “In order to figure out what’s really going on, he would need to send some citizens in to start digging down to where we think this problem is located. So we don’t really know how dangerous it is. As far as your first question…basically nothing? I mean, planning on figuring out ways to get in there. But, basically nothing.”

Slowly nodding, Wario eventually slammed his hand down onto the table. “I’ll go get my stuff.”

“What?” The room collectively called out. The eldest brother let out a small groan before continuing. “Need I remind you all that I have gone treasure hunting before.”

“Yeah, a century ago.” Waluigi added. 

Wario glared his eyes at his younger brother before continuing. “Bottom line is that I have the skills and the knowledge to get the job done!”

“I mean…I did just come here for the heroes.” said Daisy, waving a hand over to where the twins sat. 

Only for Luigi to whisper out, “I don’t want to go back underground again.”

He shrank back slightly as all eyes turned to him. 

“So, Wario and I will go,” Mario quickly answered. “With his skills and my…fire ability, we’ll be fine. Figure out the issue and either report back or solve it ourselves.”

Letting out a huff, Waluigi leaned on his hand in clear boredom. “Why do I feel like this is the blind leading the blind kind of situation.”

Peach clapped her hand as she stood up from her chair. “We’ll make the best out of this situation, shall we? While Wario and Mario handle the temple, Waluigi and Luigi will help me with rebuilding the relation between the two kingdoms. Simple solution.”

Daisy bit her bottom lip, “I don’t know if a crowd arriving at the castle would be the best idea… I just came for these two.”

“If you want the heroes, you’re dealing with all of us.” Wario argued back. To which the princess in yellow just pouted as a reply. 

“Happy that’s decided,” said Peach, “I would advise that we separate for now and prepare as we need to. We’ll leave tomorrow as early as possible.”

“Noon?”

There was a slightly silent scuffle as Wario was piled onto by the remaining three brothers in an attempt to keep him quiet. 

Peach pointedly ignored this and continued with, “6am it is! The castle will be open for anyone if they want to sleep here tonight. To save on travel time. Make it as easy as possible.” 

“Thank you, princess,” Mario replied with a smile. Which slipped away when he toppled over as Wario finally broke free. 

Being the only ones who needed to leave, the brothers shuffled out of the castle and their designated homesteads. Wario and Waluigi were practically ready in no time. The younger more than used to packing part of his life away quickly. Suitcase in hand as he watched, brows raised in disbelief, as Wario just shoved whatever he could reach into a stained duffle bag. Slinging it over his shoulder once it was jammed full and giving a confidence filled wink to his brother. Who merely rolled his eyes. 

“Really, you’re going like that?”

Wario snorted and shook his head, “Of course not! I have to get my tools also.”

“Oh, right.” Waluigi shifted back to allow Wario out of his room before following, “You sure you’re going to be okay? I wasn't joking when I said you haven’t done this in a while.”

“Eh, it’s like riding a green pipe! You never really forget how it goes.”

“One, that saying is for a bicycle. Two, being swooped from one end to the other is not even close to treasure hunting. Let alone treasure hunting abandoned temples!” 

Placing his bag down, Wario gave a pointed look to his brother. “You’re being overly weird… Feeling nervous? Or sick?” 

“Well, forgive me for realizing how bad of an idea this all was.”

“Look, this is just a part of what we do now. I guess. Daisy said no one was skilled in this sort of thing. Well, I have the knowledge and tools, while Mario is the hero.”

Waluigi gave a weak thumbs up. “What great points you make.”

“The point I’m trying to get to is that this will all be okay. Unless it literally crumbles while we’re inside it or we possibly run into someone else… But we’ll be fine! Besides, you will have the hard part. Having to please daddy and mommy dearest.”

“Meh, it’s just using colorful words to sway people. Not really the main issue of this whole story.”

“We’re just playing to our strengths. Try and keep calm, it’ll all work out.”

“Sure…calm.” Waluigi gave a small smile when Wario offered a cry of triumph as he pulled out a dusty and very old looking satchel bag. One that had clearly not seen the light of day for a long time. 

Calm was not what they walked into when arriving at the twin’s household. The first floor was left unscathed, but the upper floor looked as if a bomb went off. Mainly, a clothing bomb. Outfits and articles scattered everywhere, pouring out from the open doorways leading to the bedrooms. Wario and Waluigi took tentative steps moving forward as if waiting for something else to go flying out. Only to find the twins sitting on the floor at the end of Luigi’s bed. Both leaned against each other as they stared at the wall. Clearly showing some kind of defeat. 

Polterpup, who had been resting at Luigi’s feet, perked up as the other brother’s walked in. Letting out a happy bark as they trotted over to the other two.

“Alright then,” Waluigi muttered, “this is interesting. What exactly did we walk into?”

“We don’t know how to pack.” Mario replied back.

“...What do you mean?”

“We’ve never packed before,” Luigi answered weakly, “We’ve never had a reason to.”

“Never moved. Never went on a vacation. What do we bring? What are essentials?” Mario finished.

Letting out a low groan, Waluigi practically slammed his belongings into Wario. Who doubled over for a moment while the tallest of the brothers said, “Okay. Wario, you wait downstairs. I have my work cut out for me, apparently.”

“I could help.” Wario frowned.

“Absolutely not. Stay downstairs. Keep Polterpup entertained. You two, get up, we need to start packing. I would like to get back to the castle before nightfall.”

The next day started early with a quick and sleepy breakfast while the carriages were packed up during that time. Mario bore the brunt of holding up the rest of the brothers as they slept, waiting on the sidelines for when they could finally board. Polterpup, seeming to burst with so much energy, was rushing around. Either weaving in between the empty spaces or just phased through everything. Trying to take it all in.

Eventually, after rolling Wario into their marked transport (literally), three carriages moved out from the Mushroom Kingdom before the sun even began to rise. 

It was as they passed the kingdom’s border, the sky painted a pastel pink that Mario felt Luigi shift slightly. The older twin assumed the other was starting to wake up again. He didn’t say anything as he just focused on the scenes passing the large window. Doing his best to ignore Wario and Waluigi snoring softly as they slept. 

Luigi, on his part, gave a small groan as he began to wake. Sitting up to slowly work out his sore muscles while letting out a wide yawn. Resting across his lap was Polterpup. Who had apparently worn themselves out from that excited early morning. Undisturbed as their owner stretched. Eventually, Luigi slumped against the seat and looked over to Mario. 

“‘Ello…” Luigi gumbled softly. 

“Hey,” Mario reached over to ruffle Luigi’s hair, “extra sleep help?”

“Little sore, but yeah.” There was a nervous twitch when Waluigi gave a heavy snore. “Geez, have you been listening to that this whole time?”

“Afraid so, and now you get to join me.”

“Joy.” The unwanted noise was quickly forgotten as Luigi’s attention went to the window. Mario more than happy to let the other leaned over him to get a better look, while Polterpup let out a huff. Who was now annoyed with the constant movement. Floating over to Waluigi to rest on his lap instead while the twins took in the sights. 

The large rolling meadows of the Mushroom Kingdom were replaced with mountains and heavy forests. Creatures not seen by either of the brothers scuttled along the trees or flew above the foliage. The vibrant colors of their homes were replaced with warmer ones. Arrays of reds, oranges, and yellows out weighing the brown and tan, making the twins think of autumn. 

“We should move here.” Luigi teased. 

Mario laughed softly, shuffling to lean against his brother, “Think they celebrate Halloween here?”

“Oh goodness, I hope not. They have actual ghosts here. Could you imagine what else we would have to face down that would relate to Halloween monsters?”

“Funny how you mention ghosts but not the giant, fire-breathing turtle.”

“Well, then, don’t remind me.”

They shared a chuckle at that.

“How about we just talk Peach into a vacation here? A chance to explore more.” Mario continued.

“Maybe? I’m sure she wouldn’t be against it. But I would love to make sure we went somewhere we wouldn’t face some kind of danger.”

“With how this place is built? Good luck.”

“Aww…”

“If you had to pick, where would you want to go? Beach or mountains?”

“Hotel.”

“That wasn’t even an option!”

“I’m selecting a luxury hotel and you can’t convince me otherwise.” Luigi held back a screech as he pulled away from Mario, trying to avoid the fingers digging into his side.

There was a brief but silent scuffle as Luigi tried to keep Mario at bay. Both pausing when Waluigi let out a large snort before shifting to lay across Wario. The twin letting out small snorts at the action, deciding to settled down to allow the other brother’s to sleep peacefully. Both content to just watch the strange world go by.

The autumn themed forest eventually gave way to dry, grassy plains, the rolling hills of golden sand. The carriages only able to traverse by remaining on the pathways of what appeared to be tightly compressed sand. The twins needing to lower the brims of their caps to the sun wouldn’t blind them as they tried to take in all they could see. 

Which wasn’t much, as it was just a lot of sand. But having never seen a desert on Earth, this was still a new experience. 

Waluigi began to wake at this point. Cracking his neck as he sat up, pushing away from Wario while holding Polterpup closer, quickly turning his attention to the twins. Letting out a snort seeing their squinting faces. “Enjoying yourselves?”

“Don’t mock,” Mario said, “We’re just curious.”

“So, sightseeing trumps keeping your eyes from cooking inside your skull?”

“Okay wise guy, what genius idea do you have in mind?”

Reaching forward, Wario pulled the tinted shade down over the window. Snorting when the twins looked at said item in shock.

“Oh,” Luigi said, “...To be fair, we didn’t know about that.”

“Sure, we’ll go with that.”

Mario turned to sit back down properly, focused on Waluigi as the younger twin brought down the shade for the other window. “Do you think we’re close?”

“Don’t know, it’s all just sand. No landmarks. It’s all the same to me.” Waluigi casually commented back while running a hand along Polterpup’s back.

“Haven’t you been to this kingdom before?”

“Pfft, no, what gave you that idea? New Donk was the first time out of the Mushroom Kingdom for me. All I know about this place is that it’s stupid hot. So, I hope you like the heat.”

Luigi gave a small groan in defeat, but nothing more was said.

“So, you haven’t even met the king and queen from this place?” Mario continued. 

With a small hum, Waluigi settled back into his seat a little more. “I mean, King Olivine visited the Mushroom Kingdom from time to time. Guess you could say I’ve seen him. But I’ve never met the queen. And even with Olivine, it’s always been from a distance…”

“You dated Daisy, but never visited or met her parents?” Luigi frowned.

“Do you really think any of those royal bloods would be happy to hear that their only heir to the throne was dating a commoner? Even more so, dating a well known criminal?” Waluigi grumbled, “We kept our relationship as best of a secret we could. Letters were easy to hide and cheaper than trying to find passage to and from here.”

“Has anyone in this carriage been to the Desert Kingdom before?” Mario asked. 

“Think that through again and look at the two of us. What do you think?”

“...Good point.”

“We’re all getting a first look at this kingdom. This’ll be interesting.”

The carriage jostled slightly as the pavement beneath suddenly changed. Tightly packed sand changed to rather bumpy cobblestone, Polterpup slightly annoyed to be woken up again. Those who were awake leaned over to see all they could out of the window. Just catching a glimpse of wide doors before stepping onto the large castle’s entrance grounds. A large pool of water greeted them first. One that stretched back towards the towering structure of the castle itself. Occupants inside the carriage noticed small pathways of water breaking away from the larger source. All flowing past the castle and into a tightly packed town that laid past the royal structure. 

The carriages continued their way in approaching the castle. Only stopping when they were right in front of the grand steps leading up. 

“...Anyone notice how quiet it is?” Waluigi mumbled out. 

“I was about to say the same thing.” Mario replied.

Turning away from the window, Luigi looked at the other two, “Where are the guards?”

As if waiting for that cue, there was a sudden flood of cactus-like beings dressed in silver armor and carrying spears rushing towards the carriages. All becoming surrounded very quickly as said weapons were brandished towards them. Mario instantly pulled Luigi away from the window, the younger twin letting out a small yelp from the sudden change. Polterpup’s hackles raising as they let out a low growl, moving to the floor and focusing on the carriage door.

“This is really not the welcoming I was expecting,” said Waluigi with a frown, “I mean, I wasn’t waiting for a warm reception but- Would you wake up!”

As Waluigi shoved his brother off, Wario hit the wall of the carriage. Waking with a harsh snort and grunt. Looking around frantically as he searched for his ‘attacker’. “What happened?”

“We’re here.” Waluigi replied back.

“You couldn’t have woken me up normally!”

The argument was cut off when the carriage door was forcefully opened. With numerous calls of ‘Get out!’ pointed at the brothers. Mario took the lead while having a hold of Luigi’s arm and keeping the younger twin behind him. Polterpup barked as they floated between the four brothers, doing their best to keep the guards away. The twins on edge as they were led towards the castle’s front steps. Wario and Waluigi follow at a more easy pace. Keeping an eye on everything, just in case, but trying not to get too worked up over it.

When they found Peach and Toadsworth being led further on, Luigi had to grab onto Mario’s arm to keep the other from rushing forward. Daisy soon joined them, not held at spear point, but still caged in from every side. Arms crossed with a look of clear disgust on her face. 

“Daisy! Oh, my dear Daisy.”

Attention was pulled to the grand golden steps. Where a slim woman, seeming to sparkle and shine in the sunlight, quickly descended. Long golden hair seemed to merge with her flowing veil when both billowed from behind her. Even her tan skin appeared to merge into her dusty golden gown. Her clear green eyes stood out further from her complexion, which were directed at Daisy. She waved her hands as a silent command for the guards to step away. Allowing her to pull Daisy into a tight hug.

“Mom,” Daisy let out a low groan, “stop. You’re embarrassing me.”

“Well, pardon me for being concerned about my daughter who just left us in the middle of the night! What were you thinking? You don’t even leave us a message?”

“I was on a rescue mission! Look! Look who I brought back.” Daisy pulled away to stand next to Peach. Who looked a little nervous when the desert Queen turned her focus. 

“Oh…is that Peach?” the queen breathed out, eyes wide.

Peach offered a low bow as she quietly said, “Hello, Queen Monazite. It’s been…many years.”

Toadsworth offered a small bow of his own, “Madam, it’s good to see you again.”

Letting out a small coo, Monazite lifted Peach to stand back up. “Look at you. You’ve grown into a wonderful young woman. What a horrible greeting this is! Put those weapons away, we have guests. Goodness, we know better than to act in such a way.”

All were able to relax as the spears were lowered. Monazite gave the guards a hardened glare before her face softened to greet her guests. “Even with how sudden this visit is, we happily welcome all of you. And I believe I see some new faces among the crowd.” 

The four brothers stood a little taller as the queen approached them, Polterpup hunkering down in front. Just in case. Guards parted the way quickly as their queen walked forward while Monazite offered each a warm smile.

“I welcome you all to the Desert Kingdom, and to the Sarasaland castle. Despite the rather rough opening, we are happy to have you here.”

“Mom,” Daisy stepped in, “This is Wario and Waluigi, old childhood friends.”

“I do believe those names are familiar. Your father may have had a few stories about two young rebels that interrupted some meetings. All in good fun, I would hope,” Monazite gave a small laugh, “Wonderful to finally put a face to the names. And what of-”

The smile that held strong slipped away as her attention turned to the twins. Appearing to be in stunned silence before whispering out, “Humans.”

“These are the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom, and the main reason why I just…left. I figured they could help us! You know, with the recent issue we’ve been having?”

The surprise fell away as Monazite fixed her daughter with a pointed frown. “Daisy-”

“That temple is causing too much trouble and you know it! Dad’s being an ass for not asking for help and we can’t just keep sending random people in! So, I decided to go get the help we need. I brought the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom here to help us.” Daisy beamed as she placed her hands on her hips. 

Monazite, however, did not seem to share this optimistic.

The queen turned to the small group once more, her smile a bit wary now. “While I’m happy to have you here and that you would willingly arrive with the intention to help… Our king will have the final say in this. Which will be hard to do at this moment.”

“Because he’s a stubborn ass.” Daisy mumbled. 

“Don’t say such things, Daisy.” 

“But-” The retort fell silent when Monazite held up her hand. 

“They will not be allowed entrance unless the king grants it. Your father has the final say.”

“We’ll talk to him,” Peach said, “I’m sure if we state our caste, we’ll be able to convince him.”

“...Very well, if you believe this. Please follow me.”

The guards followed close as Monazite led the way into the large castle. Unlike the solid walls with tall windows as found in the Mushroom Castle, this building was as open as they could be. No glass covering the wide arches to allow a breeze through, the windows decorated to distinguish against the doorways. Even with the openness, the interior was in shadows that paired well with the comforting breeze. 

Monazite waved her hand to one of the large rooms, one that held numerous maps and papers. Both hanging on the walls and littering the long, narrow table that stretched from one end of the room to the other. Opposite from where the group entered was Kind Olivine, surrounded by bi-pedal mouse creatures wearing robes of yellow and red. Small spectacles resting on their pointed noises as they peered over as many pieces of parchment they could grab onto.

Olivine’s gruff and very stressed demeanor that had been focused on the table melted away when he saw Daisy. Gently pushing past the group of scholars to pull his daughter closer. “Daisy! My darling flower, where did you go? What were you thinking disappearing on us like this? Are you hurt?”

“Dad, I’m fine.” Daisy’s voice was muffled by the king’s golden robes.

“I’m so happy to hear this… I suppose you’ll also be fine with being confined to your room for at least a week for this action.”

That got Daisy to push away, looking absolutely indignant with what had just been said, “You can’t be serious!”

“I should be saying that to you. Do you even know the panic you put us into? I had my top men shift focus from the ruins to trying to figure out where you could have gone.”

Daisy looked a little uneasy at that. “You haven’t sent anyone else in, have you?”

“No…but the situation has grown worse. I’m fearful of the weakened structure our excavating has done.”

At that, Peach stepped forward. Doing her best of royal control. “How much worse?”

Olivine faltered once more, a soft whisper of ‘Dahlia’ escaping him. Only to quickly push past that with a stern face and a sharp, “Princess Peach, I was not aware you were…”

“Clearly. Daisy arrived at my kingdom saying that you needed help. To which I’ve arrived with, um, our heroes.” She gestured a hand over to where Mario and Luigi stood.

Sharp eyes turned to the two humans, both faltering slightly under the cold gaze. The desert king seeming to fully take everything in. Instead of being impressed by the heroes or relieved that some kind of help had arrived, Olivine appeared furious. 

“While the offer is appreciated, it won’t be needed. Thank you for bringing my daughter home. I will request that you return to your home at this time.”

“What- Dad!” Pulling away from her mother’s hold, Daisy blocked Olivine’s path as he made his way back to the group of advisors. Narrowing her eyes as she started him down. “If the situation is becoming worse, then this already stupid plan is now painfully classified as a suicide mission. It was bad enough before! But now I really have to question if you really care about our people.”

Olivine puffed out his chest, clearly angry. “Daisy, I will not be talk to as-”

“Too bad! You pulled me out of Peach’s life before with a stupid reason of having me focus on our kingdom. The very one that you’re clearly tossing aside! For what reason? Pride? I think with how the world is going, it would be best to forget about all of that. Can you please start being a decent king for our people? Can you do that?”

Taking a deep breath, Olivine lowered his raised shoulders before addressing his father once more. “I…understand where your concerns arise from. However, with the target on the Mushroom Kingdom-”

Daisy let out a noise of disgust, rolling her eyes. “I’m calling on my status to allow the heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom to help us. They have my full permission to do what they need and go where they need to keep our kingdom safe.”

“Very well, if you’re so sure. I’ll allow you this overruling.”

“Oh trust me, I don’t need your ‘allowance’.”

With that, Daisy turned and made for the door. Making sure to grab Mario and Luigi’s wrists to pull them along. Peach, Wario, and Waluigi quickly followed after. Leaving Toadsworth in the room with a clearly angry Olivine and silently amused Monazite. The elder Toad tapped his cane to pull attention. 

“I’m unsure where your head is at the moment, your highness. But I would advise you remove it from where it’s lodged.” With that, Toadsworth turned to Monazite. “I don’t suppose you could find accommodations for us?”

“Of course, follow me.”

Olivine was left to feel gobsmacked, the room filled with nervous tension. The advisors flinching slightly as their king turned sharply to face them. Not a word shared as they shuffled the paperwork once more.

A few hallways away, the twins were still being dragged along by a clearly furious princess. Daisy seemed to not have a plan on where to go. Just stomping around, hissing and mumbling with heated words that the brothers couldn’t really make out. 

“Daisy, y-you’re going to pull o-our arms out.” Luigi whispered frantically as they stalked the hallways. Only to wince when Daisy practically threw their arms down. Both rubbing their shoulders once free.

“I can’t believe him!” Daisy let out a noise of rage as she began to pace. “What a stupid, stupid man-”

“You can’t worry about…all of that right now. You’re calling the shots at the moment, and it seems like we’re on borrowed time. We need to get to that temple. Now.” Mario said in a hopefully calm demeanor. 

It did calm Daisy down enough to stop pacing. Looking past the twins as the rest of the party joined them. Luigi let out a sigh of relief as Polterpup pressed against his sore shoulder. The chill giving comfort as the heavy conversation began again.

“I can’t believe you pulled something like that.” Peach hissed, looking more than a little worried.

Daisy waved her hand, “It’s been a long time coming, to be honest.”

“Well, it’s not going to make the conversation about re-establishing our kingdoms again easier.”

“You know it was never going to be easy.”

“You didn’t exactly help.” Waluigi mumbled out. 

“Pardon me for putting my foot down,” Daisy crossed her arms. “I hope you know we wouldn’t be able to have this conversation if I hadn't done anything!”

“Joy. Now this already stressful situation is 10 times worse.”

“Listen here you-”

“Okay,” Wario quickly stepped in. Actually holding onto Daisy’s arm to keep her from hitting Waluigi. “Let’s try and keep a cool head. We need a plan on how to handle each part.”

“Do you have the tools we need for this?” Mario’s question points to Wario.

“Yep.”

Luigi held out a bag with a few golden bones to his brother. “Just in case you get separated from Polterpup.”

“You sure?”

“You’ll need someone good with searching, and with going through walls.”

“That is a good bonus.” Waluigi added. 

“Then we’re about as prepared as we can be without actually being there,” Wario nodded, “What about the rest of you?”

“Queen Monazite may be our best first goal.” Peach stated with Luigi nodding.

Waluigi, however, looked unsure. “She’s not very vocal.”

“Mom’s not a fighter,” Daisy weakly agreed. “But if we can get her on our side, we might have a better time convincing dad.”

“Let me try and talk with her. Maybe I’ll be able to find some even ground.” Luigi offered.

“Do you think a queen will open up to a new commoner?” Waluigi frowned.

“Would you like to talk with her?”

“...Not really. But I’ll be nearby for emotional support.”

Peach nodded with a smile, “Same.”

“Couldn’t ask for more.” Luigi beamed. 

“And while you’re dealing with that,” Daisy faced Mario and Wario with a wide smile, “I’ll be with you two.”

“You’re not going to-” Mario’s worry was paused when Daisy shook her head.

“I’ll be waiting for you two outside. But I need to be there to grant you authority to enter these areas. Plue, it’ll also be nice to have someone to greet you once you get out.”

Wario slowly nodded, “That…sounds reasonable. I like that idea. I’m expecting some good food when we get this problem fixed.”

“You got it.”

Mario shook his head with a small laugh. Twitching slightly when Polterpup jumped onto his shoulder, a small chill fell over him. He looked over as Luigi drew closer. 

“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Luigi whispered softly.

“Of course,” Mario pulled his brother close with a smile. “We’ll be back by nightfall, no doubt. You just focus on what you can while you’re here, yeah?”

“Yeah…” Luigi pulled Mario into a tight hug, who returned it. Both taking a few seconds to relax into the embrace before pulling away, their names being called. 

Mario gave a small nod with a smile, turning to join Wario and Daisy. Polterpup happily resting on his shoulder. The younger twin remained rooted to the spot as he watched the other three disappear around the corner. Only turning away when Waluigi placed a hand on his shoulder. 

“They’ll be okay.” The taller brother said easily.

“...I hope so.” Luigi replied back.

Couple Songs Playlist Headcanons - Mareach and Luaisy Edition

When I was more active in the JoJo’s Bizarre adventure community on Instagram around 2019-2022, I was part of the art and ocs community.

Many people started doing stuff like making Spotify playlists of songs that describe their Oc and other oc relationship aspects. I remember finding this SUPER fun to do. And I miss it. So, I decided to try it out with Mario and Peach first! (Just a teeny break from my much-loved Luaisy fixation!)

So without further ado, here’s a list of songs based on what I can find in my (Many) Spotify playlists. A bit challenging to find good ones!

This will have labels indicating indicating who’s mostly singing about who. Either one person referring to the other, or a Duet that includes both at the same time.

- Mario to Peach -

On one side, Mario would have the thought that Peach is simply so amazing. Someone so elegant, pure and beautiful. Someone just way out of his league. These thoughts would often show through hints of resistance at first. He and the Princess are just friends…right?

But the moment he fully accepts his feelings, he becomes so outspoken of his love. So some songs I’ve decided to choose from my playlist, tend to be about wondering if Peach feels for him, like he feels for her. A bit of doubt. But other than that, he shows protectiveness, Being her shield to danger. Also A bit more impulsive, energetic and upbeat in some parts. But with no matter what, he will always give her words of reassurance to make sure everything is okay.

Very sweet, reflective and thoughtful. The type of love that whenever she thinks of her hero, she gets so fluttery and bashful on the inside. She is more reserved her feelings though, so some songs may reflect her denying a bit. But ultimately, they all lead to just wholeheartedly accepting her feelings.

- Luigi to Daisy -

Luigi is the more sentimental type. One who thinks about the deeper meaning of his feelings. The one who’s able to find sweet comparisons and words when describing love with Daisy. He knows how timid he is. How easily scared he could be. Which is why He holds such admiration of how much of a free-spirited character she is. So some of his songs will reflect almost awe in her character. How much her presence alone just brings his feelings to life.

But mostly, she’s the one who has more of her feelings on her sleeve, and will have no problem expressing them more. She reflects more of the intense passion.

To be honest, as disappointed as I am by it, I highly doubt Firebrand and Thunderhand will ever be in the movieverse aside from a possible reference.

I get what you are saying; but I am still holding out hope as I want it so bad!

If they can introduce obscure characters like the penguins, and Foreman Spike (a character that was in ONE game way back in the 80s - and yet still got a pretty integral role), I have confidence that the team will pull from some more stuff like this, and maybe in some way, include the hand powers.

How they go about it depends on where they take the story...but here are some ideas on how they can make it similar to the game!

In the game, the Bros come across the Sun and Moon temples, where they meet the Sun and Moon gods who grant them the hand powers respectively (Mario Firebrand, and Luigi Thunderhand).

The game doesn't give any explanation as to why these gods just give away these powers to these two random strangers (not that I can recall at least), but they could explain it in the movie verse!

Suppose that the Bros adventure in the Beanbean Kingdom (or another place - or even just the Mushroom Kingdom again), and during the journey they come across the Sun and Moon Temples. Both the gods recognise the courage of these new heroes, and decide that they are worthy - but only after they complete a test!

Ooh here's an idea - perhaps the test that the Sun and Moon gods put them through is one where both brothers have to save the other! They are shown their worst fears (like a dreamscape or something similar), and they have to prove their courage in order to save the one they love the most. It will be a perfect scene full of emotion and angst 😁

The explanation as to why the Bros each get their respective hand powers can be put down to the powers reflecting their inner selves (also have mentioned it here):

Fire represents for Mario that he is passionate at what he does and what he feels. The love he feels for his brother, his family, and friends burns so deep and is primary the core of his being. Of course, these emotions can give way to him being a spit-fire. When upset or determined, his fire burns and never stops until he succeeds or he's calmed down.

Lightning on the other hand is different. It's powerful, but unlike fire it momentarily shows itself and then goes away, and it only forms under certain atmospherically changes. That represents Luigi. He is often quiet, and rarely chooses to physically fight - but when he does, when the situation changes...it hits hard! Like the moment he saved Mario from Bowser's fire with the manhole cover - it's Luigi's loyalty and bravery that becomes his inner power.

Here's some more ideas they could do with the Firebrand, and Thunderhand in the movie verse:

- During some down time, after some battles, the Bros get the same idea (not even talking they just both mentally communicate) to try something new with their powers. If they can be used in battle...can they be used in other ways...?

So Mario gently cups Luigi's hands in his, and makes a small flame. It sparks up through not only his hand, but also Luigi's - and it doesn't cause his brother pain! Luigi gasps in wonder at the beauty and the warmth of this flame. After briefly meeting Mario's eyes, Luigi follows suit and creates a small spark. Both gasp and smile in excitement at this beautiful combination ❤️️💚

- Mario makes campfires very easily with his Firebrand.

- Luigi can mess with electrical equipment and entire electrical panels.

- Luigi can read the electrical impulses in people's hearts, in order to read their heart rates (he can also read/sense any electrical currents in the air).

- Mario's Firebrand in battle is mostly used for pure power.

- Luigi can use his Thunderhand for defence (electrical shields around himself and others).

Luigi feeling more down than ever before. He couldn't shake the feeling that no one wanted him around anymore, especially his big brother Mario. Every time he wanted to help save the princess, Mario would always say no. It seemed like Mario only cared about fame and money for himself, making Luigi feel like he was nothing but a burden.To make matters worse, the toads in the Mushroom Kingdom treated Luigi with disdain and mockery. They would often make fun of him and calling a bad copied of Mario, showing how much they preferred his brother over him. It was as if the whole world was against Luigi and he was left with no one to turn to.

For the past few days, Luigi had locked himself in his room, refusing to come out. He didn't feel hungry and all he wanted to do was sleep. He had no energy to get up out of bed and face another day of misery. In his dreams, he found solace and happiness, but in the harsh reality of his life, he felt nothing but pain and sadness.Luigi wished he could just stay in his dreams forever, where he didn't have to face the harsh realities of his life. He was tired of feeling like a burden to everyone, especially his own brother. It seemed like Mario didn't care about him anymore and it broke Luigi's heart.

He didn't know what to do about this overwhelming feeling of wanting to leave this place permanently. He knew that if he didn't eat or take care of himself, his body would eventually shut down and he would die. But at this point, he didn't even care. All he wanted was to escape this cruel world where no one wanted him.

As the days went by, Luigi's condition only worsened. He had stopped eating and was barely able to move. But no one seemed to notice or care. It was as if he was invisible to everyone around him. The thought of being forgotten and replaced by his brother was too painful for Luigi to bear.Then as Luigi lay in bed, barely conscious, he heard a knock on his door. He didn't want to respond, but the knocking persisted. Look at door little power his have said go away. Pull cover over his head

He had been so caught up in his own fame and fortune that he hadn't noticed how much his brother was suffering. He realized that he had been neglecting Luigi and had taken him for granted. Forces the door open Mario's heart broke into a million pieces. See his little brother so broken.Mario sat down next to Luigi and try apologized for not being there for him when he needed him the most. Luigi just say leave me alone go save kingdom and why care now about me just worst copy of you I not need it or wanted. Just go you be lot happier without me to mess you life around. Mario just can’t believe his little brother is saying hi can’t live without family. Past couple weeks remember his words to Luigi push his away some toads making fun of him let pass like nothing.this was his fault made Luigi think none of his friends and family love him. Tears stream down into Mario face his beg his to forgive him and He promised to be a better brother and to always have his back, no matter what. He also explained that his wants to protect him by not putting in dangerous situations with Bowser’s.

Tears streaming down his face, Luigi hugged his brother tightly, feeling loved and wanted for the first time in a long time. From that day on, Mario and Luigi became even closer, and Luigi was filled with joy and happiness once again. Luigi realized that he was not alone and that he was loved by his brother and the people around him. He no longer wanted to escape from his life, but instead, he wanted to live it to the fullest, surrounded by the people who loved him for who he was. The dark cloud of depression that had been looming over him had finally lifted, and he was grateful for a second chance at life. From that day on, Luigi knew that he was never alone and that his brother would always be there for him, no matter what.

Hello, I know that you only take Luigi requests, BUT I hope I don't bother with my request that I feel it would be nice: the Mario brothers as older/younger brothers of the reader :) gender neutral

No your request doesn't bother me at all!! I love this request! I just do better writing about Luigi individually but both brothers as a whole I can do! I decided to make them older than the reader since I can see them being great mentors while also being very protective to their younger sibling. Thank you so much for your request!

Notes: Mario and Luigi are awesome and overprotective older siblings, scenes of bullying but nothing graphic. Mention of depression and self harm but just a mention. This is something different, but I had a lot of fun writing this one! Thank you again for this request!

Another day, another day of being tormented at school, you thought. At least you would be looking forward to hanging with your older brothers after school. By the time school would be done, their work day is usually done. Your older brothers were Mario and Luigi and although they were in their 20s and you were younger, they still dragged you around with them with everything they did. And even though you looked forward to hanging out with them this afternoon, you still worried and were scared for going to school today. What your brothers and family didn't know was that you were being bullied at school. More specifically by Spike's nephew, which was Mario and Luigi's old boss they had who treated them horribly. Despite you not being a triplet to Mario and Luigi, you bared similarities to them in looks. So of course Spike's nephew, Shane, spotted you immediately. The torment started about three months ago and has been going on since then. You were thinking about the day when Mario came up behind you and ruffled your hair.

"Morning, Squeak." Mario greets you.

You smiled in response. Squeak was a nickname the brothers have given you when you were a baby because every time you smiled, you would squeak out of happiness. At first the nickname annoyed you, but as you got older you grew to love it.

"Morning Mario." You greet him back as he sits next to you at the table.

Mama Mario was making breakfast for the whole family, even though you and Mario were the only people up at the moment.

"Where's Luigi at?" You ask, seeing his absence.

"He's getting up. You know how he is." Mario says with a chuckle.

Luigi was definitely hard to get up in the morning. It's not that he wants to sleep all day, he is just a very drowsy person. After a while though, a very tired Luigi walked into the dining room.

"Morning sleeping beauty." You jokingly greet Luigi and he chuckles at your remark.

The rest of the morning was spent with the three of you guys chatting and eating some delicious pancakes Mama made. Eventually it was time for Mario and Luigi to go to work and for you to go to school. The twin brothers often drove you to school and picked you up depending on when their first and last clients of the day were. Thankfully today they were able to take you to school and pick you up as well. It's less likely chance for Shane to torment you. The three of you then arrived at your school.

"Do you wanna grab some grub after school, (Y/N)?" Mario asked you.

"Grub? What are you talking about, Mario?" Luigi asks Mario, making you giggle.

"Food, Lu!" Mario says.

Seeing the two brothers scuffle with each other always made you laugh. It never got serious to the point were they would have an intense fight with each other and that always made you feel relieved.

"But yes that would be great." You answered as you climbed out of the van.

"See y'all later." You told the brothers as you exited the van.

"Bye, Squeak!"

"Love you, Squeak!"

Both Mario and Luigi call out to you as you made your way to inside of your school. You wave back as they drove off and disappeared.

"Welcome to Hell, (Y/N)." You mumble to yourself as you walked to the first class of the day, already ready for this day of torment to end.

"Look at the baggy clothes they wear!!"

"Such a rat looking face!"

You tried to make your escape at the end of the day, but Shane and his goons managed to get to you. You were standing outside near the parent pick up line, and no teacher or parent took notice to you getting bullied. Suddenly, Shane shoved you down hard, causing you to hit your head on the hard pavement.

"What?! Too scared to fight?" Shane screamed at you, getting close to your face.

"J-Just, leave me alone." You stutter out, scared out of your mind.

"Pfft! They are just like their older brother that wears green all the time!" One of Shane's goons yelled.

Your blood boiled hearing that they were mocking Luigi. But unfortunately they had you pinned down to the ground and you couldn't get up. Shane was about to raise his hand down on your face and you recoiled back, waiting for the pain to arrive.

"Hey!!"

A familiar voice shouted, making Shane stop. You turned to see who it was and it was Mario and Luigi, quickly making their way towards you. You felt instant relief but also disappointment in yourself for this is how your older brothers find out about you being bullied.

"Leave her alone, NOW!" Mario shouted, causing the boys to let go of you and back off of you.

Luigi immediately came to your aid while Mario was cussing out the boys.

"Now if I ever see or even hear you come within fifty feet of (Y/N), I will be sure to make y'alls life hell. And I don't care that your daddy is our old boss, you don't mess with our younger sibling. Got it?" Mario sternly told Shane and his goons.

The three of them nervously nodded in response. Even though Mario was the shorter sibling, he was still taller than Shane and his goons. You could say that Shane had a Napoleon complex.

"Now scram!" Mario bowed up at them and the three of them scurried away like pussies.

"(Y/N), are you okay?" Luigi frantically asked you, as he got you on your feet.

By now, all of the parents and teachers were staring, which made you madder. Of course, Mario immediately took notice of that.

"Oh so now all of y'all are staring now when a midget starts yelling at some kids instead of helping someone who was getting bullied for God knows how long?!" Mario shouted at everyone.

"Mario, please." You call to him, to try and get him to stop.

"No, (Y/N). This is wrong. We have to report this." Mario sternly said.

"No, please. Just take me home." You muffled your sobs.

It's what you wanted. You wanted to be away from here.

"Mario, please. Let's get them out of here." Luigi pleaded with Mario.

Mario sighed deeply and nodded in agreement.

"Alright." Mario mumbles.

As the onlookers stared, Mario and even Luigi gave them all dirty looks. They both were boiling with anger. How could they sit there and stare and let their little sibling get beaten up and bullied like that?

"Wait till I get my hands on that damn kid." Luigi mumbled as they got you in their van.

You just sat in silence, holding your arm in pain, as Mario started the van and drove off.

"How long has he been picking on you, (Y/N)?" Mario asks you in a serious but comforting tone.

"Not long." You lied.

Judging by your soft tone, the brothers knew you were lying.

"(Y/N). Don't lie to us. Please. We want to help you." Luigi reassures you.

You knew they were trying to help but didn't want to make them worry more than they already were.

"I just..don't want y'all to worry about me."

"What do you mean? Of course we are gonna worry about you! You're our sibling! Youngest, in fact." Mario remarked.

He wasn't getting onto you at all but he wanted to make it clear that he was serious.

"I know." You mumble.

The rest of the ride back to y'alls house was silent. You felt as though you had disappointed Mario. Luigi was just very concerned and worried for you, and so was Mario, but you couldn't help but like you did something wrong. The van pulled up to the house, but neither you, Mario, or Luigi got out.

"I'm sorry." You broke the silence.

"For what?" Luigi asks you.

Both Mario and Luigi were confused as to why you were apologizing. You did nothing wrong.

"For disappointing y'all."

Mario and Luigi immediately turned to you.

"You didn't disappoint us, (Y/N)." Mario reassures you.

"Yeah. We just want you to be okay. We will get this figured out." Luigi reassures you as well.

"But it's Spike's nephew. Y'all's old boss."

"We know. And we don't care. You're our sibling and we want to make sure you're okay and not being bullied. There's no excuse for it." Mario told you.

Hearing Mario's words helped you a little bit.

"We love you, Squeak. We just want the best for you and don't want you to go through what I went through." Luigi mentioned.

You knew what Luigi was talking about. During their school years, Luigi was bullied heavily by their classmates, and even though you were younger at the time when this was happening, you could recall how it impacted Luigi. He was depressed and even had thoughts of hurting himself. Of course, he is better now, but you knew that Luigi didn't want that to happen with you.

"I know." You mumble out, trying not to sob.

The feeling of love and protection from your older brothers overwhelmed you greatly. But in a good way. Mario and Luigi immediately climbed into the back seat to hug you. Even though they had a huge family, Mario and Luigi secretly favored you the most. You were special to them and they loved you so much.

"Oh, you two, you're going to suffocate me." You joked as they hugged you tightly.

"Tomorrow, we are going to have a day off and come to your school to talk with the principal. And then get some ice cream. How does that sound?" Luigi offers.

"Yeah! And even take you to that book store you love so much!" Mario added.

"Sounds like a plan. Thank you, guys." You thanked them.

"You're welcome." Both Mario and Luigi said in unison.

"Jinx! You owe me a soda!" Mario exclaimed, punching Luigi in the shoulder.

"Aw, really, Mario?" Luigi groaned, making you laugh.

The three of you eventually exited the van and went inside y'alls house. You all spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out and playing video games all night to ease the anxiety of what the next day would bring.
