not enough people love indycar on here so i’d like to pop in and say that i am Very Glad their racing season is starting again (i cried when i watched qualifying and idk why) and give my comments on the whole affair because i, like most people on the internet, enjoy sharing when no one asked for it.

but like that shit was wild!!!! two airborne cars, 6 race leaders, and a rookie with the first name sting ray (can’t decide what i think about that yet—i’ll have a definitive opinion by the end of the season). i don’t understand f1 so i can’t really argue that one is better than the other but i’m fairly certain that nothing that crazy happened at their race

but scotty mac and romain grosjean??? scotty does not mess up like that! i was standing on the couch yelling at that point (it scared my cat away) because what was that?? and my hatred for alexander rossi and scott dixon was fueled further because they did better than josef newgarden, a man i have loved for almost as long as his wife, whose engine was inspired by bus bros (yk cuz explosions); it was very punchy.

anyway. i was hoping for a penske or arrow mclaren win (except alexander rossi bc i am a hater) and instead marcus ericsson won. i like him so i wasn’t mad, but i was mad that scotty fricking wrecked himself. he was gonna go to the moon 😞

also i felt bad for rinus veekay bc he was continually screwed by josef newgarden but i also found it to be quite silly. obviously it wasn’t silly for rinus but josef was just kind of existing. i feel like rinus hates him but would never say anything about it. he silently fumes at josef’s success or something idk

AND THERES MORE (i can talk about indycar and its drivers for a billion years)!!!! pato o’ward’s social media was so hilarious. he’s so real for using this emoji 🤬 i use that emoji when i talk about alexander rossi and scott dixon 🤬🤬🤬

also can we talk about will power’s consistency?? i feel like scott dixon (🤬🤬) is the only one who gets credit for consistency, but will power was there. if i’m not mistaken—which i may be—will power finished in the top 10 in every race last year. he had more podiums than anyone else (9–alex palou and josef newgarden had second-most with 6) and it showed; that was how he won the championship. he only won one race, as opposed to the five wins of his teammate, and still beat him because he is consistently good. i can remember going to the indianapolis grand prix in 2017 (i thought it was earlier than that but accordions to wikipedia it was 2017) and sleeping through the entire race, waking up to find that will power had won. “good,” i said. “i wanted him to win.” up until my first 500, will power had won every indycar race i attended. he might not have the championship numbers that scott dixon has, but his other numbers say enough—5th most wins and highest number of podiums. his p7 finish on saturday wasn’t his best—not by a wide margin—but he was the best of team penske and that’s enough for me. anyway that’s it folks 🤗
