#but like a lot of the quests and such can play out very similar to how they were in the actual game

okay, more HCs. This one is only Scara, so things might get a lil dark- I'm not normal about him. anywho: Scaramouche: -autistic. I am going to say this about every Harbinger, bc it's the truth. -most traumatized mfer in all of Teyvat. Seriously. someone give this guy a licensed therapist. -as Kabukimono, he's tried to eat several non edible items. This one is inspired by that one researcher who made up a story about him eating a humans arm. The image of little Scara munching on various dangerous items is so cute -related to the above: he still does it sometimes, to fuck with people. Dottore thinks its great. Pierro had to stop him from getting Kuni to eat a delusion. -Eyes (& markings) always glow at least slightly, even if he's not using his powers. Its not really noticeable in the day, but at night you can see it pretty well -hates Pantalone. Not bc he's jealous of him hanging out with Dottore or something (if anything, Pantalone gets jealous), but just because he is an ass. -Went to the Abyss again for a long time, just after Arlecchino became a Harbinger, and kind of forgot that Crucy was replaced. Came back and was like "who the FUCK- oh right". Why? because I think its funny -In general, has a better relationship with most of the female Harbingers than the male ones. -a little self indulgent, but I like to think that he was able to float a lil with electro as well. We see Raiden and Ei do it, and I think it'd be cute if he was able to as well, if to a lesser degree. -has used almost every element at some point, testing delusions with Dotty. Mostly bc I can't really imagine all those researchers just throwing 4 extra elements at shouki no kami and being like "figure it out" -speaking of delusions: I think he didn't use one. His electro is inert and I dont think he used another element. I see people headcanoning his delusion as Anemo, and I get it, but I don't like it all that much -SPEAKING of his electro being inert to his body- I refuse to believe he lost electro completely. The whole "oh he used up his divinity" is lazy. He can still connect to Irminsul, which he only learned while ascending, but he cant use electro anymore, something that he's had since birth? Bullshit. I understand him not using it, but I think it'd be more impactful if that was a voluntary choice. I'd really like to see him recover it over the course of the story -I think Youkai like him. Obviously this excludes Yae Miko, but I think as Kabukimono it wouldn't be strange to see him being followed by some Tanuki or the lesser Kitsune. I would really like to see him interact with the Youkai Children from that one Inazuma event, I think it'd be really cute. -I like seeing people write about him and Kujou Sara, both romantic, platonic and as enemies. The two of them are very similar in some aspects, and then radically different in others. I think it'd be really interesting to see Kujou Sara confronted with her own trauma being reflected onto Ei. I guess this is mostly because I just really like Sara and I want my favs to interact xD -more of a theory, but I think Pierro and Dottore, (will) remember him. He has a lot of foreshadowing in his voiceline about Pierro & Dotty, and other things. He's very clearly endgame/lore relevant, with his story not even being finished. -not a HC, but I wanted to mention it: I'm still stuck in Inversion of Genesis on my main account. I never played past it. I did the Fontaine and Natlan quests for friends/watched them online, but I'm still in IoG on my main, because I never fully decided on a name -last one bc character limit: I really like to imagine him interacting with Neuvilette. I think there could be a lot of interesting discussions had here- Neuvi would absolutely dissaprove of his attempt to overthrow Nahida, but at the same time I think he would, to some degree, understand his obsession with the gnosis. No, the gnosis/authority doesn't belong to Scara (or Ei, for that matter), but I think if you told Neuvi that Scara was quite literally created to hold it, he'd understand, to a degree.
#genshin impact#fatui#scaramouche#not a quote#I dont like shortening his name to Kuni but the character limit is annoying so oh well#these are by far not all my headcanons for him#but a lot of them are WAY to dark to post on an account mainly meant to be humorous#his story is very dear to me#but I do also have a lot of medical trauma so I like projecting that onto him#and that's...not funny for others. Useful for the fanfics though!#anyways#i might have to make another one just for Scara#or for his relationship to dottore because they're very complex#hope you enjoyed these tho!#i had to shorten this one so much for the character limit#I'm not a big fan of the sovereigns actually#especially of them being playable#but I'd sell my soul for Neuvi & Scara interactions

A hero is only as good as his weapons, so make āem count (Patreon)
#Doodles#Original#Another idea smol and I are working on together :D Been a bit!#She came up with the concept on this one and I fell in love with it <3 She's very cool hehe#If you're familiar with the game Minit it has Something of a similar premise - not the same strict time pressure but yes on the time loop#Y'ever notice how in some games it seems like the wandering trader or traveling shop seems to come upon you rather than the other way around#:3c Hm āŖ Wonder how they'd know where you were gonna be :3c#The crux is that you play as the weapons shop owner and you're responsible for supplying the hero and his team with weapons!#Except the BBEG has gotten wise to how the hero keeps defeating him and it sick of it - so the shop owner is cursed to be in a time loop!#I love the concept <3 It sounds so fun to play in and there's still plenty of room to think about the mechanics and how it would be played#As well as the art design! :D#We threw around some character concepts - she's really into Baldur's Gate 3 at the moment so of course they had some influence in hers hehe#Only got the starting party for the moment but there are plans for a full team of 4 plus the shopkeep >:3c And various other NPCs lol#A lot of the gameplay would basically boil down to being a bartering simulator hehe āŖ#Very RPG trade-this-for-that style quests - under a time limit! Hehe#Since it's the type of game that pretty much requires replaying sections time-loop-style it's all about how quickly you can trial and error#And then hightail it to where you need to be lol#I think we were also tossing around a nap mechanic to skip right to the time loop reset in case you mess up a run haha#I gotta get back to Majora's Mask at some point I swear#We still have a good bit of concept work to do on the art side of things - she's also been really into pixel art lately and I love pixel art#I also managed to pick up a full release of one of the RPGMakers :D So that's an exciting possibility!#I haven't learned most of its ins and outs yet but I do know About importing custom assets at the very least >:3c#Same with Novelty and I haven't done that yet either lol - all in due time! I hope!!

I have this great amount of respect and affection for massive fan projects.
Like I wander through TVTropes sometimes and there are these musical projects for some video games and pieces of media. Like there's an Ace Attourney musical (not talking about Random Encounters talking about something else), there's a Portal 2 musical, there is some Game of Thrones fan work titled Westeros, I don't remember how I learned about it but some group of people is working on an opera about Majora's Mask. I think there's a fanmade Pokemon theater thing but I might just be thinking about Pokemon Live. I have not listened to any of these but I have so much love in my heart that they exist.
Fan music in general is something worth so much. If it's original you have someone who cares about something enough to create lyrics and music and share it with the world and even parodies have the love put into finding something that matches the lyrics enough to fit in the original timing and sometimes people make new instrumentals to work with.
Anyway where the fuck is the Transformers fan music
#it didnt fit with the end line of 'transformers music pls' but i also have this huge amount of respect and awe for like#those massive fucking mod projects in the elder scrolls games#the tamriel rebuilt and other similar mod projects for morrowind making the entirety of tamriel#morroblivion that recreated morrowind in the oblivion engine and can be played right now#skywind and skyblivion the in-progress projects working to recreate morrowind and oblivion in skyrim's engine#skygerfall the mod that makes the main quest of daggerfall in skyrim#and most awe-inspiring of them all: beyond skyrim. a massive project collection working to make every single province in skyrim#all with new stories to fit in the period of skyrim and i think there will be voice acting#also VERY honorable mention to fan animatics that's good shit#especially fan animatics using musical songs with characters from a different piece of media#idw starscream candy store animatic my beloved#this is an open invitation send me your favorite fan projects i might not watch/listen/etc all of them but i will marvel at them and be joy#on the transformers point i know of like. two fan music things. this one almost 10 year old song that is technically nice#but i dont like the phrasing used for jazz and am petty upset over soundwave#and the transformers roll out album some people made together and that one has good music dont get me wrong#i just want more#being a minecraft and fnaf fangirl in the past fucking spoiled me im used to lots of music

Just given. Everything I know about Caterina. And Lucanis and Illario's relationship. And the fact that Lucanis Doesn't Even Want To Be First Talon. Having read Tevinter Nights.
And the fact that like. Caterina. Was abusive. In her training. Like it's assassin training of course it's abusive but still.
I wish we were able to have Illario and Lucanis like. Work together against Caterina maybe. Or just like. Some ending that would let Lucanis... leave the Crows. Because iirc... Illario like. Tells Lucanis he wouldn't have to be an assassin anymore if he didn't want to be if Illario became First Talon.
And fuck man. That really feels like much more of a Good Ending for Lucanis narratively. Than taking on the mantle he's been groomed for his entire life and like has never felt that he has any choice about.
#ramblings of an arrow#arrow plays dragon age#datv spoilers#dav spoilers#veilguard spoilers#like okay I was pretty sure from the beginning that Illario was the one who sold him out#but I just..... augh.#its not a very satisfying story to me#yay the cycles of violence continue forever : /#like okay Consider instead:#Caterina made some kind of deal with the Venatori#not to kill Lucanis#but maybe he had actually expressed some vocal misgivings about becoming first talon#and maybe tried to put Illario forward as an option#and Caterina didnāt like that#so she makes some kind of deal with Zara#funds some of her horrible magic experiments#in exchange for turning Lucanis into an even more effective weapon#as like some twisted way to force him to take first talon or at least come back more fully under her influence#and then yeah that's kept under wraps#because obviously if Lucanis knew this was all Caterinas idea that would go over poorly#but like a lot of the quests and such can play out very similar to how they were in the actual game#we just swapsies the traitor#and maybe Illario and Lucanis get to work together#Illario becomes First Talon in the end#and Lucanis has. an actual choice. for the first time in his life he gets agency#he can choose whether or not he wants to continue to be a crow#or if he wants to do something else#which yeah he might not know what he wants to do at this point#he hasnt ever been given the freedom to consider any other paths for his life

Sometimes my most scathing insults come from a place of only moderate thought. This is, in fact, referring to that one time I told my friend that playing Elden Ring felt way more like playing Genshin Impact than playing Dark Souls. Because it does.
#i went into a longer rant actually explaining my opinion#and a lot of it comes down to the fact that ER doesn't really put up any resistance to the player#and the game seriously lacks any ways for the player to fuck themself over#ER's open world isn't very good#like from a primarily gameplay perspective#the game's systems just aren't designed in a way that makes you form memories in each location#which results in exploration being rather mindless#and that's basically the opposite of what I was expecting#since i played this almost immediately after beating ds1 for the first time so I was like#oh it's the same genre made by the same people#so certainly it must be similar#apparently not#but yeah#the two games that immediately come to mind as doing the thing I expected ER to do but way better are Xenoblade X and Rain World#Xenoblade X is the closest to ER's format it makes its areas feel hostile by placing enemies that you shouldn't be fighting#all over the place and near enemies that are around your level#so you often have to keep an eye out for the lvl 60 boss wandering around the lvl 20 area that you decided to roam around in at lvl 10#because you can and there was a side quest sending you there#rain world meanwhile accomplishes the oppressive feel by doing a ton of things that fromsoft could take notes on#the way the ai works is commonly sited#but there's also the world design and the philosophy behind the enemies#like a huge thing in rain world is that no matter how good you are at the game or how powerful your character is#there will always be at least a few enemies that you simply do not fight#and the notable lack of enemies in ER that you cannot fight but avoiding them is still a challenge#makes the game feel like it lacks a backbone in the same way that DS1 and these other games did#and tbc Xenoblade X isn't even a soulslike (the other Xenoblades also do this but they're way less extensive about it)#there's a lot of other stuff too outside of how the enemies pan out but I don't want to give an in depth analysis rn#elden ring

ALRIGHT, I ASKED FOREVER AGO, BUT WHO WANTS TO HEAR ABOUT MY ISA LOOPS AU??
Heads up this contains a lot, and I mean A LOT of spoilers for In Stars And Time. Including: = Act 6 spoilers, including main mystery and secret encounter = Minimal Act 5 stuff = And a bunch of extra stuff that happens through Act 3 and 4. SO BASICALLY ALMOST EVERYTHING, FINISH THIS GAME COMPLETELY BEFORE READING (ESPECIALLY THAT ACT 6 ENCOUNTER, IT WILL LITERALLY BE THE FIRST THING I MENTION UNDER THE CUT)
With all those warnings out of the way-
IN REPETITION AND CHANGE
Initial Concepts:
I feel it's important to show these sketches because they were the first ideas I ever had. I wasn't even entirely sure I wanted to make an AU at this point, I didn't even know how I'd approach it. But I started sketching and it's been on my mind since- SO! Isa is stuck in the timeloop. I know what his wish is and he DOES have a Loop equivalent! The grumpy dandelion guy is Roboro (it/they/he). Their name is a very small play on Ouroboros and they call Isa "Seedling". However, this post is not about them, as I'm gonna talk about it and Isa's dynamic in a separate post. In short, Isa is his normal loud self up until Act 3, right? They beat the King, they reach the end, and whoops, the loop isn't broken. So now, what happens is that Isa starts getting his brains out. He starts thinking more analytically and tries to problem solve.
The more stuck he gets in his head, the less he's able to perceive his friends as real people, and more like them holding him back. Because even if Isa explains that he's smart, that they shouldn't be surprised if he says something, shock of all shocks, reasonable- They'll forget it the next loop.
So Isa is stuck with trying to portray his confident, loud, supportive facade- Which is fine! It wouldn't be the first time! But it progressively gets more and more frustrating, as he tries to find answers and simply looses the energy to pretend to be stupid.
TL;DR: Isa in the timeloop, unlike Siffrin, becomes more distant and cold rather then something more akin to Sif's mania.
NOW, MORE ART!!!
KILL KILL KILL:
I imagine Isa didn't have this encounter the same way that Sif did. Yeah, frankly, Isa is pissed with the sadness- But that's not why he goes through with this.
In this moment, Isa is trying to kill two birds with one stone. He's trying to get through this quickly, as well as reassure Mira that they can do this! If he shows how strong he is, then she'll feel safe right???
Poor Isabeau forgot that whenever he shows that he thinks ahead, he scares people. How could he forget that? How could he forget that he's inherently---
Family Quest:
I still think Odile is the one to call out to him (same with sus quest).
The hangouts I'm still figuring out, cause I don't think they'd too similar to base game- But, fun fact, at the end of this run, everyone agrees to keep travel together!
Isabeau brings it up, can't hurt if you can fix your mistakes right? And everyone agrees. The relief on Siffrin is the most palpable thing Isabeau has ever seen.
In this moment they love you. In this moment they all love you. In this moment---
Death Screen:
He loops back anyways. (This is one of the initial concepts that I ended up animating. This line in particular is when he reaches the end)
Act 5 Tarot Card:
NOW TO SEE MORE OF HIS PASSIVE AGRESSIVE SIDE
Thanks to @the-bitter-ocean for prescribing tarot cards to Isa (THEY ALL FUCK SO HARD) and for the RAW ASS LINE
If interacted with in act 5, predictably, Isa tears it apart. He doesn't need the divine judgement upon him, he's faced everyone's perception his entire life.
However, he tears it methodically. Tears it once in even pieces, twice, three times, and one of the pieces once more. In a way he isn't even getting his emotions out, it's like he's actively trying to tear it apart so it stops nagging him, like he wants to shut it up. Though, the Judgement card symbolizes rebirth, absolution and inner calling. In Act 6 he'd be able to look at it and find comfort and confidence in the card.
Act 5 Mirror:
And lastly, I have the Act 5 mirror picture. I haven't quite figured out how to make the normal ones work yet, however, I couldn't let go of the idea that Isa would not want to be in the picture.
The idea of seeing himself at all makes his head hurt and his stomach squeeze. The memory haunts him as he stands to the side and says the word. He didn't think the mirror would catch him.
AAAAND THAT'S ALL THE ART STUFF FOR NOW!!
I still have quite a bit of it to post, especially about Roboro, but I'm gonna leave it here for now.
I still gotta figure out the hangouts and potentially the dagger equivalent- but I have ideas for Bad Touch, the glass equivalent, and some extra little things that didn't happen in Siffrin's loops.
I needed to yap about this, because I've been slowly stacking up ideas and writing and I needed to share it at some point- If anyone read all this and has questions and stuff I fully welcome 'em!!
#in repetition and change#irac#in stars and time au#isat au#isat isa#in stars and time isabeau#irac isa#irac roboro#the title used to be the other way around so it was icar but the long version didn't feel right but now the short one is off#I can't win in these conditions/j#isat spoilers#in stars and time spoilers#HOW DID I FORGET THE SPOILER TAG HOLY FUCK

disney villains ranked by how good they would be as a toxic romantasy love interest
10. gaston. make no mistake, he ranks highly in toxicity, and would no doubt excel in one of those romance novels about douchebros reenacting the most dangerous game with nondescript brunettes. but thereās simply no way he can hold his own against the faeries and monsters and sorcerers youāll meet in chapter three.
09. hades. lord of the underworld is a fantastic gig, but i personally feel that his reliance upon comedy and snark somewhat undercuts the promising menace of him shouting that he owns you. heād make a real charmer of a sidequest flirtation, though, if you survive it.
08. captain hook. manipulation is the bread and butter of your common or garden toxic romantasy love interest, and we all saw the way he played poor tinker bell. it ruled. do me next. extra credit for an underplayed tragic immortal angle (hey, heās stuck in neverland, too!) and being figuratively and literally haunted by his own doom.
07. shan yu. for a villain with limited screentime he really has a way of setting the imagination aglow. what if your village was razed by a warlord and you ended up encountering him repeatedly in battle and for all the casually contemptuous evil heās previously displayed he faced you with respect as an equal (and he *remembered* you) and oh no heās hot. what then. he also gets bonus points because i think they made his hawk a beautiful lady shapeshifter in the live-action movie. two for the price of one.
06. the evil queen. she sets a high bar for unhealthy obsession, and āmad scientistā is an underrepresented flavor in this genre, plus the magic mirror has a lot of creepyhot stalking potential. sheās pretty high-maintenance, though, and her vanity simply wouldnāt allow your heroic quest and/or the other corner of the love triangle to share the spotlight with her. she might be better off as a supporting character in the deadly decadent court who calls you menacing endearments and strokes your face and gives you the feeling that youāre suddenly in way over your head.
05. frollo. oh, i hear you gnashing your teeth and wringing your hands. ānot frollo!ā yes frollo. if i was reading a romantasy novel and the villain told the protagonist that they were just imagining a rope around her beautiful neck, i would feel ripped off if they werenāt at *least* furiously making out in secret by the climax. your conscience may demur, but who hasnāt secretly yearned to have a city burned to the ground over them?
04. morādu. who? you know morādu. the big fuckoff bear from brave. the big fuckoff bear who once was a brooding, hulking celtic prince who massacred his whole family and underwent a devastating transformation-by-curse into a literal monster. itās only his sheer bad luck that he ended up as a minor character in a heartwarming mother-daughter narrative and not the villain protagonist of a romantasy thatās half beauty and the beast and half texas chain saw massacre. but, with your help, we can change that.
03. jafar. he doesnāt rank more highly because itās less fun when theyāre only creepy to you and obsessed with you for, like, five minutes at the end, but still. he pulls it off *so* well, heās got just the right kind of megalomaniac agenda, and he gets extra credit for style and the hypnosis thing. cue the agonizing yet erotic internal monologues from our protagonist about how he *compels* them.
02. TIE! between two gentlemen who operate on very similar levels of charming toxicity and would therefore thrive in this setting:
hans. itās honestly a shame heās in a disney childrenās movie and not a five hundred page novel called a realm of ice and snow or whatever. he would not only be endgame but he would also have a small army of booktokers calling our protagonist names for doubting his love for them after one eensy little lying to them and leaving them to die incident. heād be exactly as awful as he is canonically and heād come out smelling like a rose.
dr. facilier. the *perfect* balance of tragic backstory versus inexcusable jackassery, and no one is immune to the charms of a roguish magician dabbling in that which he should not. heāll sell you the prettiest vision of a future together that you ever did see, and then heāll sell you out to evil forces to further his personal agenda, and he will not be sorry about it. heāll call you doll while draining every drop of your blood for The Ritual and he wonāt lose a wink of sleep. no romantic groveling apology from this one, either, iām afraid. but heād be so worth it.
01. maleficent. evil sexy faery who lives on something called the forbidden mountain, who devoted sixteen years of her life to tormenting a beautiful peasant with a secret royal lineage, up to and including kidnapping the ācorrectā love interest to prevent them from saving our protagonist from her own wicked plans? if there *isnāt* already a romantasy novel out in the world that is blatant aurora/maleficent fic, i will eat my hat.
honorable mentions:
rasputin. sure, heās only a disney villain by technicality. but what romantasy protagonist worth their salt would kick the rotting lich-priest who murdered their whole family, and is trying to murder them, out of bed on a technicality?
bruno madrigal, who wasnāt a villain at all, but by gods he should have been. secret uncle who lives in the walls and is tragically haunted by your seemingly immutable shared fate *and* youāre his *favorite*? the gothic romantasy fans would devour him.
#all that said if you catch me letting dr. facilier use me for the ritual DO NOT save me#venus made good cases for gothel and tremaine but my specific brand of mommy issues render me incapable of finding them sexy unfortunately#i also had to limit myself to humanoid or at least once humanoid. if i added the furries iād be here all day.#nixe has a word.

Top 3 Games That Don't Exist Anymore
LEMMINGS (1991)
Absolutely incredible puzzle game (based on the great lemming myth) where you attempt to guide a horde of lemmings to their home. Obstacles get in their path, so you have to give them jobs (building staicases, bashing through walls, digging, through the floor, stopping other lemmings from moving) to help them get home. It was cute, simple to understand, and INCREDIBLY difficultāespecially once you got to the difficulty level "taxing".
WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
Folks just forgot about it and it kind of bounced around, never getting picked up when things like the Wii online store came out. After some remixed variants it never got a proper release.
HOW TO PLAY IT NOW
Aside from emulators, there's a free (with purchases) iOS/Android version of Lemmings now. The functionality is similar, and it's definitely cute, but it's not exactly the same in terms of gameplay, sound (the music!), and the levels are different. I'd love to be able to play the original levels again.
BOOKWORM ADVENTURES (2006)
Utterly incredible spelling game. You play a cute little bookworm who has to travel through time and literature to battle beasties by spelling words. The longer the word you spell (and the more value the letters have as in Scrabble) the more damage you do. It's cute, it's educational, it's fun, it's competitive (there are records for biggest word, most damage, etc. so you can compete with friends); it's a nearly perfect game. And there was a sequel, too!
WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
EA purchased PopCap games and then, one day, for apparently no reason, removed it from their online store. And that's it. It's gone. Forever.
HOW TO PLAY IT NOW
You can pirate it, but otherwise, the closest I've found is a mobile game called Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey by Bacon Bandits. The core functionality is there, but it's not really as clever or as cute or as fun. There's an Easter egg for fans of Bookworm, and bless them for creating a very similar game, but it is just not the same.
UNIRACERS (1994)
Also called Unirally, this was am awesome concept that was perfectly executed. You're unicycles that race really fast and do crazy tricks. All the stunts have names, you get points for them, there's track obstacles. It's simple, pure, unadulterated fun.
WHAT HAPPENED TO IT
This absolutely drives me up a wall. Pixar sued the makers of Uniracers because they said their unicycles looked like the unicycle in their short film Red's Dream from 1987. Like ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Thematically, the two things aren't similar at all, and, as the creator of the game said, "[t]here's not a lot of ways you can bring life to a unicycle without looking like the one Pixar did". Like...duh. The judge who made this ruling did irreparable damage to video games.
HOW TO PLAY IT NOW
There's no legal way to play this game, and, thanks to Pixar, there likely never will be. I've never encountered anything similar. It was such a unique play experience.

Okay, so I already wrote a bunch of stuff about how that scene, although it is really sweet, is also kind of a Bad Sign for Simon - how he refuses to learn the Obvious Lesson from the Winterworld adventure (that being the Ice King again is probably a really really bad idea). But I want to talk about it also a little more about what it means for Fionnaās character as well.Ā
Because while sitting around and wallowing in self-loathing is probably bad for Fionna, especially after being told that she shouldn't be allowed to exist, and Simon is right to try and get her out of her funk. It's also still worthwhile for Fionna to have some introspection about the Consequences of Her Actions. Because she and Cake really did not consider them at all at first. They have a sense of morality and an instinct towards heroism, but they also tend to kinda forget the fantastical worlds they visit donāt exist entirely for their fantasy and have kind of a Protagonist-Centered-Morality fallacy.Ā
Most obviously you can see it in the market in Ooo. How Cake, in her excitement, damaged and hurt and even killed
A bunch of innocent marketgoers without even noticing. And then Fionna immediately jumped to Cakeās defense against these āweirdosā, who were actually just normal kinda-righteously-angry Oooian citizens.
Itās actually very similar to the whole Winterworld situation. Fionnaās assumption that sheās automatically the hero and protagonist of the story and black-and-white view of the situation and her tendency to kick ass first and ask questions later meant that she just recklessly injured a lot of innocent people.
(It mightāve been worse actually cause at least in Winterworld she was at least manipulated by an evil Wizard)
Fionna and Cake clearly have a great potential for heroism, but they do need to be a bit more considerate of the situation and people around them. And it does make sense considering that from their perspective - theyāve been living a very ordinary life up until now (and Cake was literally an animal. A very clever animal, but still not bound by the same standards of morality as the talking animals in Ooo). Action and adventure and fantasy stuff has been purely the realm of daydream and video games for them - and Fionna literally speaks about it in these terms.
(also, Fionna's Main Character Syndrome was undoubtedly validated when God literally told her that she was created to be the main character of her universe)
So yeah, it takes them some time to really process how to be heroes - they need to grapple with questions that Finn and Jake already kinda dealt with seventeen years ago. And actually a lot of those; how to resolve a situation without necessarily using violence, when does a 'villain' actually deserve sympathy and kindness, the importance of the larger context of any given conflict... their confrontations with Ice King all played a big part in that. It was never just him, but he was still a very major part.
And for Fionna and Cake right now, learning these lessons require some amount of personal introspection. So while it was a sweet attempt at comforting, I dunno if Simonās little āthe only problem with that universe is that this Alternative Me was terrible because he didnāt even acknowledge or remember Betty as the love of our life and the light of my entire universeā thing is actually Good.Ā
Iām not quite sure Simon is the best person to teach Fionna and Cake heroism 101, because he is so focused on the Crown Quest as the thing that brings back Meaning to his life, and because his fatherly instincts just kinda go āSad Young Person???? MUST GIVE COMFORT!ā and also on account of the kidnapping.
Iām sure Fionna is going to become the heroine she dreams about eventually, itās just going to be a bumpy ride. The best we can hope for is that they accept Simonās comfort, that she doesn't start believing that she is nothing but an Error for the entire universe like the Scarab claims, but donāt necessarily listen to all of Simon's his words either.

"If Anthem was a runaway success, you'd be seeing a very different BioWare right now who'd be all in on the live service model. They're running uphill because they've got goodwill they need to earn back after the fact, but its failure (plus Fallen Order's success) is what allowed them to pivot right back to what they're good at: single player character driven RPGs. Silver lining but still." [source]
User: "I don't think its unreasonable to have hoped that a Dragon Age game would have similar gameplay to previous Dragon Age games." Shinobi: "Veilguard does have similar gameplay though, just not theĀ exactĀ same gameplay." [source]
"Open world doesn't automatically mean better. Inquisition's open world zones were basically Bioware's response to Skyrim and anticipating that's what players wanted. The big zones were cool but they were also bloated and full of uninteresting quests. Andromeda also took Mass Effect to huge open world zones and they had the same result. It was ass and the game benefited nothing from it. It's better for Bioware to stick to what they do best which is tighter, more structured play spaces." [source]
"they'll do what they think they're good at. Inquisition was highly rated, but the big open areas were also flawed. If they felt that's not what they'll excel at, that's fine. There ARE larger open areas in Veilguard though. If that's your very strict definition on what will make the game good apparently." [source]
"If you're sole definition of a Dragon Age game is that you can take direct control of companions and a tac-cam, it's understandable. But I think it's completely false that this is somehow unrecognizable as a Dragon Age game. There are tons of different aspects that define the series outside of that." [source]
"It's been evolving and changing for over a decade." [source]
"They did say there are some "killer cameos" they're keeping secret. My mind's going to several different possibilities..." [source]
User: "Yeah, they need to wrap up this story in this game. I'm already a little annoyed that we are getting another "the veil is torn and demons are wrecking havoc" story. They cannot stretch that to a third game." Shinobi: "It's a lot more than that. It's not a repeat of Inquisition or anything." [source]
"This might genuinely be the most in depth CC in a mainstream RPG that I've seen." [source]
"Yeah this is more like Inquisition, though you could still change out companion helmets in that one." [source]
"They did confirm tavern songs are back so that's good news, and The Swan (Minrathous tavern) has a bunch." [source]
"Yeah there's a good amount of veterans working on Veilguard. Though I always find that to be such a weird qualifier, and it seemingly always comes up with Bioware in particular. As if there aren't tons of talented non-Bioware devs from across the industry who could join the team and still write and design a great game. Like nah, it can't be a good game unless it's got people who've been there for 20 years!Ā š" [source]
"There are also rune items you can equip that provide different effects and act as their own abilities basically, plus ultimate attacks for each class specialization (so 9 total), plus finisher moves and things like elemental combo detonations for extra damage." [source]
"there are definitely 'open areas' you can explore around in. It's not more linear than ME2." [source]
User: "Is my reading of "mission-based" it being like ME2/3 correct?" Shinobi: "Yeah, in that regard, it's more structured like Mass Effect, which I think is to its benefit. DAI just suffered way too much from open world bloat. I think the tighter, handcrafted structure works a lot better." [source]
User: "How big are the areas? Like the first game where you open the map and pick a location?" Shinobi: "Don't know exactly. But that's what I was told. There are several open ended areas that are explorable in the story. Plus a hub area." [source]
"I think if fans have been yearning for a quality Bioware game like they were used to before, this is that. Tight design, great character models, environments, animations have gone next level, combat fluidity, etc...it's all here. I compare it to the jump from ME1->ME2. [re: the jump in quality/fidelity/presentation.] This isn't a spoiler, as Game Informer said, it's a full on action RPG, and you can still pause and issue commands. But this is not DAO. Preferences put aside, Bioware's moved on from that ages ago. This isn't BG3 at all. But they've put a huge emphasis on making combat feelĀ goodĀ to play. As in engaging the player, more real-time, more Mass Effect. It's a meaty, single player RPG with lots of systems going on inside. Also, like they said, this is the prologue, the beginning of the game. Keep that in mind if you don't see everyone's powers unlocked or intense pause and play. If you keep all that in mind, I think you'll really like this." [source]
"But it's a big jump for Bioware. [re: animations]" [source]
"[rogues are] flashy, jump around a lot, etc." [source]
"Party members can definitely get knocked out in battle" [source]
"It's important to note that what was shown was completely level 1 combat, and likely on easy mode for demo purposes. There is way more to it in more advanced battles. When it opens up with way more abilities, unique momentum attacks, ultimates, and other...things they haven't shared yet, on higher difficulties, it will look and feel way different." [source]
"It'll be rated M. It's got its share of nudity lol." [source]
User: "should we expect a comparable level of dialogue role playing as we had in Inquisition? I don't mind the changes to combat but there seemed to be more auto dialogue here than I remember from Inquisition or Tresspasser." Shinobi: "Yeah. That was just the intro. They just like to keep the pace going for a big start to the game." [source]
"This isn't accurate at all though, and it keeps getting perpetuated. Yes, there's been departures like Casey Hudson, Aaryn Flynn, Mike Laidlaw, etc, but I could easily list dozens of people at Bioware right now that have been there for 10-20+ years, some even longer. Do they just...not count for some reason? The entire core team building Mass Effect right now were OG leads on ME1-3, been there for over 20 years. And even outside of that, like, does this really matter? Do you know one of the game's premier VFX/lighting designers worked for ILM? Or one of the cinematic leads is an alum from Blizzard? Or one of the creature animators was a senior creature animator on Horizon Forbidden West? Talent is talent. And if we look at the industry through that lens too, sure, tons of studios are just "X, Y, Z studio in name", in many ways. There's no studio in the industry that holds on to their entire team for 30-40 years." [source]
"They do have that data. And I think even this thread would be shocked at how tiny of a % of players took direct control of other companions. Or went into tac-cam. Not just Inquisition but the whole series." [source]

Just like how botw had small details telling us the probable ācanonicalā route Link took (aka Zora, Rito, Goron, and then Gerudo), totk has something similar. Iām sure all players noticed that the newspapers will feature one region that is meant to direct Link to go aid the people there. First is Rito, next is Goron, third is Zora, and last is Gerudo. BUT! They also added something else.
Zeldaās role in the story. Namely, her interactions with Tulin, Yunobo, King Dorephan, and Riju. Annnnnnddd Linkās reactions to her!
Tulinās interaction with her is one meant to confuse players: Zelda was in the past, but Tulin saw her? So sheās here in the present and weāre chasing after her. Sounds a lot like Skyward Sword, okay (which was released on the switch last year, so anyone who didnāt play it back in 2012 had another chance to). It confuses Link, but spurs him to become a journalist ? Cool, Iām here for it. I did journalism for 4 years, Iām sure Link can do it too!
Then, for Yunobo, he actively speaks to Zelda, we see her figure, and Link will actively gasp whenever we see her. He has a genuine reaction to her presence, because heās surprised, but then we see pink gloom glow in the mask that Zelda have Yunobo and it makes him freak out land turn against Link. Thatās when we start to put together that maybe Zelda is being controlled? Or sheās NOT Zelda, just as Yunobo begins to theorize but canāt quite wrap his head around it.
Next, we have King Dorephan who is actually attacked by Zelda and is injured to the point that he decides to hide from his people as to not create more chaos in this time. He chooses to give Zelda the benefit of the doubt hereā he could have easily had his people turn against Hyrule and all Hylians because of Zeldaās actions. But he doesnāt! Because it simply doesnāt make sense. And by the end of the quest, Sidon comes to the conclusion that the Zelda in the past and the Zelda in the present are NOT the same.
And we see that thought truly stick with Link in a cutscene in Gerudo. After defending Kara Kara Bazaar, Zelda appears and Riju calls out for her. There is no gasp from Link like with Yunoboās story, instead he watches Zelda with a slightly narrowed gaze and does not stop watching where she was last seen until Riju directly addresses him. They actively show the players that Link is suspicious, but he is still so very dedicated.
And it happens again, in the center of the light triangle. Zelda appears and Link begins to walk toward her, but there is no intake of breath, no shock at seeing herā¦ instead he slowly walks until Riju calls out for him.
After Link finishes each phenomenon, going to Lookout Landing gives the players a clue in how Link is reacting. Specifically, if you speak to Buliara before going to see Purah, she says something along the lines of āPurah is up on the top deck, but donāt miss a wrung in your haste to get up there.ā
Link is expected to rush. Because everyone is muttering about a figure that MIGHT be Zelda. At the castle. Right. Then. And. There.
Link GASPS when he first looks into the scopeā Purah doesnāt even say itās Zelda, not before Link sees for himself. Itās seeing her, clear as day, and even if Link KNOWS itās not herā¦ thereās still that seed of doubt that lives in his mind. And then at the castle, Link does twist and turn whenever he hears Zelda. He rushes after her every. Single. Time. She disappears. Despite that he knows it isnāt her, he canāt give up. He canāt. Itās quite literally not in his DNA. He sees it through; he needs to make sure it isnāt her. And itās all a trap, one he walks right into, because he just HAS to see that it isnāt her.
And if you want to say ābut Ashā¦ this is just a recap of the storyline in the present.. not small detailsā let us just remember that Linkās driving motivation in this game is to find Zelda and bring her home. So many people just ignore these little moments or miss them completely.
And Iāll be damned if I donāt talk about linkās gasps or his twists and turns or his micro expressions that tell us so much about how he is feeling.

References to Previous Final Fantasies in Dawntrail
Or, how 9 + 11 + 6 = 14, somehow. (SPOILERS, OBVIOUSLY)
I've played every mainline FF, plus a few others, so one of my favorite things about playing XIV is seeing what they do with previous FFs, and how they incorporate it into the world/story. Dawntrail very very much did this, to the point that I could literally predict plot points before they happened. (THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT I LOVED THIS)
So I figured I would put down my fanboying in text form, for people to read the insanity of a madman who has played too many JRPGs from a single series.
Note: I have not completed every single side quest, but I have done the entire MSQ, every dungeon, and 3/5 of the role quests. This isn't a complete collection, just what I noticed :)
V
Krile's "real name" is Maya. The original Krile in FFV was Krile Meyer Baldesion. (XIV might also have the middle name but I don't remember! I'm gonna put it here regardless!)
VI
Valigarmanda is the first Esper you encounter in VI, right at the start of the game. Its summon attack is Tri-Disaster. I really liked how they kept it frozen in ice, just like the original, and because Tri-Disaster is a SMN ability, they changed it to Tulidisaster to fit the Tural location.
Pictomancer was first in VI as well, being Relm's job. She even got to be in XIV as well, being credited as the Archon who created the art (HA). Shoutouts to the Relm reborn joke it needed to happen
IX
One of the two most important games in this expansion. There is A Lot here.
The preorder bonus/deluxe edition had a Wind-Up Zidane and Garnet, the two main protagonists of FFIX.
Alexandria is lifted directly from IX. The name, the style of the buildings, and even the castle with the crystal popping out of the top, shown in the dungeon and in Yesterland in Living Memory.
(This is the Dissidia NT version, but I wanted a picture that showed the castle and the roof architecture)
Solution Nine is named after one of Zidane's Dyne abilities. While not direct, Living Memory, the final zone, is very reminiscent of Memoria, the final dungeon of IX. I wonder if you can get a special sword by completing the entire MSQ in under 2 hours?
Living Memory also features quite a few locations from IX. The Canal Town looks very similar to Treno, and features a location called the Daguerreo Medical Collection, named after the city as well. Underneath Proto Alexandria in Yesterland, where the data terminal lies, looks very similar to the part of Alexandria Castle where Steiner can grind to level 99 (I don't know how else to describe it if you know you know). In the Windspath Gardens lies the Cleyra Museum of Nature, also named after the IX city.
Some quest text in Living Memory tells you about other locations in the Unlost World. Lindblum, the city that holds hunts and is very technologically advanced; Conde Petie, where the Dwarves are from (mentioned by a Milalla who said he was from there), and the Iifa Tree. There might even be more here, that I either missed or haven't done yet.
Another quest has you go on a treasure hunt for a password. This password? "I Want to Be Your Canary", the play from FFIX.
Solution Nine has a couple buildings with monsters from IX as signs. One building features a Mu (Which is also mentioned in Living Memory), and another building features Yans, both friendly and not friendly.
Another monster that I noticed a reference to was the Gimme Cat, which is featured on the popcorn in Living Memory. It's also mentioned as an energy drink, but called a "Gimme Bat" instead? I guess it does have bat wings.
While XIV doesn't have any direct plot important characters from IX, the ones we do have are very reminiscent of its cast, and clearly are done like that on purpose.
Otis is Steiner (with maybe a little tiny bit of Beatrix depending on how you look at it). Captain of the Knights of Alexandria, he speaks in an older fashion, similar to Steiner, and is very loyal to his princess.
Sphene is an interesting mix. The most obvious one is Garnet, both being Queens of Alexandria, being named after stones, and loving their people. The other one, which might be argued isn't intended, is Garland.
(No, not those guys. The other one.)
Garland in IX is an artificial being whose purpose is to continue his world's life. To do this, he would try to fuse Terra (his planet), with Gaia (the main planet), and control Gaian souls for Terra instead. What did Sphene do? Try to fuse her reflection with the Source, to use their souls for her own people. I personally think this is a very clear similarity.
In general, because of this similarity, the latter half of Dawntrail shares very similar themes with IX's plots, dealing with death and souls. I also think it's pretty funny that both start out pretty happy and cartoony, and end fairly depressing and existential.
Another plot point used in the MSQ is the play sequence. While IX's is based off love, and XIV's is the history of Alexandria, both feature a sword fight scene. (99 out of 100 nobles approve).
Finally, several songs from IX are used in Dawntrail. In the above mentioned play, Swords of Fury plays, just like the original. And a few scenes later, Vamo'alla Flamenco (previously used for the DNC quests) plays, though it should have been during the sword fight!! Prima Vista Orchestra and Fleeting Life are used in several scenes, usually involving Sphene. Something to Protect also appears, but in a scene I can't recall. Finally, the Court Jesters' theme gets a remix as the main song in the Strayborough Deadwalk.
X
There is a singular joke in Heritage Found made about dodging lightning bolts right before the flash so they don't hit you. The person who wrote this line wanted to induce PTSD in as many people as they could with only a single line of dialogue.
XI
The other most important game in the expansion. In a way, Dawntrail FEELS like it could have been an XI expansion in another lifetime. I might be looking too much into it, but I feel as though this was foreshadowed back in the first patch of Endwalker, as Dawntrail takes A LOT from the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion.
In Endwalker, the Alzadaal's Legacy dungeon was based off of the Alzadaal Underwater Ruins in Aht Urhgan. The dungeon used many models from XI, such as the Rampart, the Xzomit (hell yes!), and the Acrolith. The dungeon had a visual similarity, as well as the areas in the dungeon being named after zones in Aht Urhgan (Bhaflau Thickets, Arrapago Reef, and Mount Zhayolm). I know this is Endwalker and not Dawntrail but trust me it's important for the foreshadowing.
Gulool Ja Ja was a boss in the Besieged mode of ToAU, leading the Mamool Ja Savages to assault Al Zahbi. Both incarnations of this character are VERY different from each other.
Similarly, Gurfurlur was also a boss in Besieged, leading the Troll Mercenaries. It's very funny to me that both of these warmongers became such nice people in Tural.
The Yok Huy as a whole are actually Trolls from XI. The different name I assume coming from the fact that Trolls are already an enemy in XIV, in Labyrinthos.
While this isn't direct, and is probably unintentional, the fact that the final boss in Vanguard was a naga/lamia like entity only makes me wonder if it was somehow a callback to Medusa and the Undead Swarm, the last remaining Besieged invaders.
Zoraal Ja is a Notorious Monster in the areas around Aht Urhgan.
To continue on with Mamool Ja facts, Mamook is an area in ToAU. They don't look very similar, but they do both share the title of Autarch as their ruler. Mamool Ja in general come from XI, so it's no surprise that in the expansion that well, expands on them, it uses XI for inspiration.
This next one might be a little insane. The general plot of Treasures of Aht Urhgan, is that after killing Promathia, a god that wishes to end all life, the Adventurer goes to a completely different area to have a relatively calmer adventure. Here, they meet a female member of royalty named Aphmau. Her brother, Razfahd, unable to rule over the country, has a conquering nature, and uses an Automaton body to control Alexander for his goals. This... can't be a coincidence, right?? We kill the Endsinger, who wanted to end all life, go to a completely different area to have a relatively calmer adventure with our female member of royalty, Wuk Lamat, and we fight against Zoraal Ja, her war hungry brother that is unable to rule, so he uses the power of Alexandria (a mech suit) for his goals. You... you see what I'm cooking here right??? RIGHT!?!?!
To piggyback off of this, Wuk Lamat very much fits the role of the XI heroine. A girl who is very clearly the main character of the story, and hangs around you more than anyone else.
Edit: one last thing that I forgot to put down before posting, one of the hunts uses the Magic Pot model from XI. We love Magic Pot.
I THINK that should be everything I found? I know for a fact we're going to get more since the Alliance Raids are based of off XI (I'm so excited)
XIII
A couple enemy models were used from XIII.
The Silver Lobos in Urqopacha use the XIII model. I'm fairly sure they've never been used in XIV yet, but I could be wrong.
Similarly, the Strayborough Deadwalk uses the Gremlin/Ahriman enemies. I do not think they've been used before this, feel free to yell at me if I'm wrong :)
Type-0
While not like, direct, the concept of erasing the memories of anyone who has died (especially seen as a blessing) was a major plot point of Type-0's world.
I think that's everything? My memory isn't the greatest, so I'm sure there's something I noticed that I missed, and again; I haven't done everything, so there might be even more out there that I've yet to find!
Please, feel free to comment anything else that you may have noticed, and hopefully you enjoyed reading :)

Thoughts on Bonney and her situation? I feel so bad for herā¦ :[
oda has always been really good at introducing information about characters through their backstories that recontextualizes a lot of their behavior in hindsight, and i think bonney is maybe one of the most skillfully done examples of this in the whole comic.
i started suspecting some time before reaching her backstory that she might be younger than she generally appears, because it struck me as consistently odd how everyone on egghead seemed to mention knowing her as a child and how fast sheād grown up, but having that information confirmed in her flashback completely changes her as a character in a way i find really compelling and fun.
like, throughout egghead i have been mentally comparing bonney a lot to law. from the start sheās playing a similar role as he does in the dressrosa saga, as the arcās supernova ally-of-circumstance, and the similarities between them only grow deeper as we learn more about her history and motivations. bonney is really similar to law in a lot of ways; she aligns herself with the strawhats while on a revenge quest for the death of her adoptive father, who sacrificed himself in order to cure her of her childhood terminal illness.
the main difference, of course, is that bonney is twelve.
sheās twelve! and she was ten before the timeskip. which means sheās about as old in the present of the story (10-12) as law was in his flashback (10-13), or as ace and sabo were in the post-marineford flashback (10); thatās the age and maturity level sheās at. sheās twelve years old and she misses her dad. her tragedy is fresh and recent and she hasnāt quite grown around it yet, and she still has her whole future ahead of her.
i really liked the reveal that her devil fruit basically relies on her being a kid with a big imagination full of infinite possibilities. itās very thematically resonant with her role as the emotional and narrative core of the arc set on egghead, the island of the future. any future she envisions for herself she can make real!
related to this, she also relates to religion and myth like a child does, where it all may as well be real because anything still could be. when kuma tells her about nika, she envisions someone whoās really somewhere out there in the world who she could find. the sunās in the sky- maybe theyāll find him up on the sky islands?
and the thing is that sheās right!
bonney is a kid and the futures she dreams become real, because her ability to imagine the impossible hasnāt yet been beaten into submission by the horrible weight of reality. saturn tries to break her spirit and depower her before he kills her by crushing her ability to picture any future for herself, and it almost works.
and then thereās nika, and everything becomes possible again.

5 WAYS TO HELP WITH SPECIES DYSPHORIA AS A THERIAN (with and without gear)
- please note that most of these are focused mainly on being a wolf therian, but i'll try my best to make it more inclusive to others.
1 ā¢
my personal favorite, wolf quest! this one does cost money, so this isn't for those who don't have the money/don't already have the game. it really helps me feel more connected to who i am. you find a mate, raise pups, hunt prey, defend your den and pack from predators, and there's even a multiplayer option for you to play with your friends. :o)
(and yes, you can customize what your wolf looks like. all NPC wolves in the game have different personalities for immersion, including you, your pups, and your mate)
please note that the game is still in development! they plan to add a saga where you can live constantly with your pack and continue with new generations each year (and no, you don't HAVE to pass away). you can toggle whether your mate dies or not, if you play on easy you can avoid your pups getting sick by reloading saves if you're sensitive to that, there are constantly new updates being brought out that make the game feel more realistic each time and the development team are incredibly sweet. if you have the money i highly recommend this game, wolf therian or otherwise.
2 ā¢
documentaries. a wonderful way to not only feel more connected to your theriotype(s), but to also learn more information about them! my favorite thing to do when i'm stressed is to wrap myself in warm blankets, turn off my lights and put on a documentary to calm myself down. bonus points if you DO have gear to wear during this, if not that's okay too.
i also like to have my plush friends join me so i can act like they're my pack :o) it's a nice way to feel less lonely as i watch. this also works if you're a domestic cat therian, have your plushies be your clouder! no matter what animal you are though, never feel less valid for wanting your stuffies with you during this. it doesn't matter if your theriotype isn't a social animal in the wild.
if you're an aquatic therian of some kind, i think a good idea would be taking your phone in the bathroom with you and setting it up outside of the tub to watch whilst you're in the water! (or shower if you don't have one, you can also use a kiddie pool outside in the warmer months). PLEASE remember to be safe during this though, if you worry about getting your phone wet then instead find some blue blankets and pretend it's the ocean!
3 ā¢
going outside to where your theriotype resides in naturally. of course this won't be for everyone, since a lot of the time trips can end up being quite costly. something that i like to do is go to my local forest whenever i have the time to do so! i find it refreshing to sit by the stream and play in the water with my mate.
if you're a domestic dog therian, ask to go on a walk around the neighborhood with your friend! (or hell, go by yourself if it's safe enough, you're a free dog, you can do what you want). even as a wild animal i still enjoy this, so don't feel ashamed if you're ALSO a wild animal who wants to do things that domestic dogs do. it doesn't make you any less undomesticated.
if you're an animal that's used to deserts, i recommend going to where you can access sand (e.g. a sandbox at a playground, asking for a small sand tray to play in as a gift, a day out to the beach if you live near one). i also find that dried dirt that's very damaged can feel sort of similar to sand!
if you can't go outside for whatever reason, then there's always ways to make your bedroom feel similar to where you would be more comfortable. if your theriotype lives in dens like caves and underneath trees, make a blanket fort and pretend it's your home! if your theriotype rests in a burrow, make a tunnel with some blankets from the top of your bed all the way down to under it (if that doesn't work, pretend that anything below your bed is underground, and anything above your bed is the surface).
4 ā¢
dressing in clothes that are the same color as your theriotype. i have this fluffy hat with ears that feels very affirming for my species dysphoria, paired with my favorite dark sweaters, warm pants and my tail. if you don't have any gear, don't worry! you don't need to have any to complete an outfit. sometimes clothing textures can also be affirming. for example if you have smooth skin like a whale, a bathing suit can feel similar to blubber. (if you have gender dysphoria, i recommend either full body bathing suits, or wearing pants on top of it and a jacket to help yourself feel more affirmed). i wear fluffy clothes because my fur is fluffy :o) it helps me, personally, but this might not be the same for everyone!
5 ā¢
studying the behavior of your theriotype and trying your best to imitate it to the best of your abilities with the body you have. this can be as simple as copying how they act around each other as a family (for example wolves who are mates will rest their chins on each other to display affection), and as difficult as trying to vocalize what sounds your theriotype makes.
if you wanted to try the latter, i recommend looking at vocal exercises online before as a lot of creature sounds can and will strain your voice, i promise you that warming up your chords will not only help you sound clearer, it'll ensure that it won't take as much effort to do!

EWAN MITCHELL INTERVIEWED BY POLYGON MAGAZINE.
YOU'VE SPOKEN BEFORE ABOUT THE INFLUENCES YOU TOOK IN WHEN CRAFTING YOUR APPROACH TO AEMOND ā YOU HAVE PROMETHEUS; YOU HAVE HEAT; HALLOWEEN; LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. I'M CURIOUS WHAT YOU WERE SEEKING AS YOU WERE RESEARCHING TO PLAY AEMOND IN SEASON 2.
"Characters who possess a tremendous amount of power, and see it as a means to do things no one else can do."
Similar with Lawrence of Arabia ā something in Lawrence of Arabia that I like, he says 'The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts.'
"You know, the idea that he kind of tempers himself ā very similar to Aemond ā to pain."
"He puts duty over love."
"And [similarly,] the idea that Aemond can be loved, but he also knows that he can achieve more if heās willing to be feared, and do the necessary kind of evil."
"[I sought] characters who were kind of marginalized, and they maybe start off their story on their back foot, and over time become the hero of their story."
"There are setbacks, but they bounce back even stronger."
"Those kinds of characters."
DID YOU FEEL LIKE YOU WERE LIFTING THE ENERGY OF THESE PERFORMANCES, THE PHILOSOPHY, OR JUST THEIR PHYSICALITY?
"Anything ā I mean, I try to watch a film a day."
"Although recently, with press, Iāve sometimes had to do two a day, because I miss a day."
"But anything, anything: Inspiration can come at any time."
"Iām always watching for it."
"I was watching Split the other day, M. Night Shyamalanās Split, and it kind of raises the idea that the broken are the more evolved."
"And thatās certainly true with Aemond; from the moment he had his eye taken from him, heās used it as motivation to develop himself and manufacture himself into this lethal weapon."
"I was speaking to a reporter earlier, and he had a Rutger Hauer T-shirt from Blade Runner."
"Thatās also something that I might use as inspiration going into season 3."
"Just kind of leave my arms open, take anything."
DO YOU FIND YOU HAVE DIFFERENT INFLUENCES FOR DIFFERENT MOMENTS IN AEMOND'S LIFE, OR EVEN JUST DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIPS, LIKE ALICENT VERSUS HELAENA?
"Yeah, ultimately, after the raising of the dragonseeds in 'The Red Sowing,' itās definitely made Aemond a lot more desperate going into episode 8, and heās losing that composure that heās known for [in] the previous episodes."
"And so there was always something really fascinating in exploring that kind of fractured Aemond, seeing that scared boy rise to the surface again, that heās tried to keep a lid on for so many years."
"Itās the sort of relationship that makes total sense even when you donāt see them together."
"Of course sheās the person who sees him and puts him in his place."
"And he just has nothing to say to that."
"Her words just cut him in half."
"He always has this idea of where and how things will pan out."
"She just challenges that, and it breaks him a little bit."
IN A SHOW THAT'S SO MUCH ABOUT INTERROGATING PEOPLE'S QUEST FOR A POWER, THEIR RELATIONSHIP TO IT, AND HOW IT CAN BE BOTH WIELDED AND CORRUPTING AS A FORCE, HOW DO YOU SEE AEMOND FITTING INTO THAT? WHAT'S HIS MINDSET?
"I think he raises that question of whether Aemond is inherently evil, or whether power does corrupt, whether it was nurture versus nature."
"Was it the upbringing that [he] received from Otto Hightower and his mother, or was it just being in the Red Keep and being a product of his environment there?"
"I think Aemond ā heās always had that quest for power."
"Heās always wanted to be known as that war hero."
"And here at the council table, for the first half of the series, heās very much serving in the war from one end."
"And then when he gets into power and becomes prince regent, he goes to the other end."
All of these people, he now has a completely new perspective on, and itās like, 'OK, so how can each of you serve me? And if you canāt serve me, youāre gone.'
"Itās that kind of very black-and-white pursuit that Aemond has in his quest for power, which I think is quite scary."
"Itās formidable."
It doesnāt really take anybody elseās perspective into account. 'Itās what I want.'
"So whatās his relationship with power? Itās not a pretty one."
DO YOU SEE HIS QUEST FOR POWER AS COMING FROM THAT SCARED LITTLE BOY WHO JUST WANTS SOME PROTECTION AND INSULATION, AND TO BE ABOVE REPROACH? OR DO YOU SEE IT AS HIM THINKING I HONESTLY BELIEVE I CAN DO THIS BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE HERE?
"I mean around the council table, all these other characters, theyāre losing their composure, theyāre raising their voices, theyāre arguing."
"Aemondās just sitting back."
"Heās calculated, heās cool."
"He strikes when the moment arises."
"He needs to be seen as someone who can wield that power effectively."
"He needs to be seen as someone who can lead."
"He can become that war hero."
"Whether or not he wants to sit the Iron Throne ā I donāt know; I donāt want to answer that! But he definitely wants a similar kind of reputation as Daemon Targaryen."
"He wants to be like Daemon Targaryen, but he also wants to better him."
"He wants to be known as that rogue prince, who you know all of the realm respects."
"Or maybe he doesnāt really care what anyone thinks ā thatās kind of what I love about the character."
"He could be many things."
TELL ME ABOUT HOW YOU APPROACHED THE ARC FOR HIM OVER THE SEASON ā TO RETURN TO INFLUENCES FOR A SEC, I WAS THINKING A LOT ABOUT STREETCAR NAMED DESIRED, AND HAVING A CHARACTER WHO DOESN'T KNOW THEY'RE THAT CLOSE TO A BREAKDOWN, BASICALLY, AND DOESN'T KNOW THEY'RE ONE BAD DAY AWAY FROM THAT. THEY'RE JUST HOLDING THEMSELVES TOGETHER EVEN WHEN PEOPLE AROUNG YOU CAN SEE THIS IS BAD NEWS.
"Aemondā¦ if he has a breaking point, I donāt think heās found it yet."
"Itās interesting."
"Maybe he found it there, when Helaena challenged everything he thought his life would amount to, and how things would pan out."
"I think Aemond always thought of himself as the captain of his own fate and his own destiny."
"And so when Helaena shares that knowledge ā on one hand, it could make an enemy out of him."
"But on the other hand, it could also make Helaena a tremendously valuable ally."
"If youāre able to harness that kind of foresight and that power that Helaena possesses, you could see a blow coming before it lands."
I think that would certainly be something interesting to explore: 'Where is Aemondās breaking point?'
"I mean weāve seen everything heās done so far."
"He kind of had to abandon humanity in season 2, with what he did to his brother."
Helaena raises that: 'Was it worth the price, and what did he lose in that moment?'
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT WHERE HE ENDS UP THIS SEASON? IN MANY WAYS, IT FEELS LIKE AND OTHERWISE TRIUMPHANT SEASON PUTS HIM IN EXACTLY THE RIGHT PLACE TO HAVE HER POP THAT BALLON FOR HIM.
"Yeah, thatās a good way of looking at it."
"I think heās got to sit with that information now, and sit with that realization."
"But as we know for Aemond, he canāt sit still for long."
"Heās going to be on the back of that dragon."
"Up to no good, you know."
"And yeah, I canāt wait to see where it goes in season 3."
"I think heās got to change again."
"I think similar to when he had his eye taken out as a kid, it served as this motivation to become something else entirely."
"And then with this new realization at the end of season 2, heās gonna have to evolve again, or otherwise risk being broken again."

I feel bad shit insane talking to a wall about dragneel brothers š
Anyways silly brother hc that would fit into lore if zeref didnāt have a curse and joined fairy tail and wasnāt actually insane
-Zeref definitely constantly makes sure his out fit is correct and tidy like he doesnāt mean to do it but he just feels more in control of himself that way. And when he sees Natsuās clothes always messed up and messy he constantly fusses about it after he fights and brushes Natsu off without realizing
-Natsu is zerefs biggest weakness if that weakness was he just doesnāt wanna hurt Natsu emotionally or physically at all like Natsu is his baby. Zeref could never actually hurt Natsu badly sure Zeref is fully aware Natsu can handle anything but if heās fighting and someone put Natsu infront of that attack he would immediately stop it, Natsu is very important to him and Natsu knows that to. which why he used it to get stuff from Zeref
-I know zeref made lullaby as a whole killing thing but it would be really funny if zeref also created things or other instruments that reminded him of people he liked especially Natsu so thereās a flute out there thatās just for Natsu but will never be found cause it wonāt be played unless Natsu finds it. Thereās tons of zerefs instruments and creations out there that arenāt for anyone but Natsu
-Natsu likes to draw not well and he draws like a five year old however whenever it does it just makes him incredible happy and carefree (this is totally not based off of that scene in 100 year quest when Natsu wrote in the library books) and he doesnāt tell anyone about it but he likes to draw people sometimes itās good sometimes itās not but it just makes Natsu happy and whenever zeref sees Natsu draws he always sits next to him and watches happily
-Natsuās very short and I mean like 5,3 and itās cause Natsu has always been small heās just small and zeref cant get over how funny it is because Natsu convinced half the people he knows heās taller than he is by just not standing directly next to them it just makes zeref giggle sometimes Natsu literally needs to climb on him for missions but Natsu being small helps them do a lot of things like sneak into vents or something
-zeref is a big hugger and wraps his arms around Natsu head and in a death grip he rubs his face in Natsu hair. Sometimes zeref will lift Natsu up to see things and he always hugs Natsu before lifting him up on his hands
-Natsu and zeref both speak a different language and itās not a normal language itās a mix of old language from there town and draconic which makes a weird language no one knows because the whole town was wiped out. I also believe this town had there own customs and beliefs and coexist with dragons just didnāt care for them which is why they knew draconic but so jumbled with some other language Natsu and zerefs culture and language is just incomprehensible to anyone. This town celebrated life and death which is why zeref is named after death and Natsu is the summer itās like after a volcano erupts new life begins.
-igneel was fond of zeref and wanted zeref to stay with him when he dropped Natsu at his door and zeref still does not know why
-Natsu and zeref hold hands all the time to not lose each other
-zeref has dragon parts like Natsu but more demonic from his curse but heās rarely seen with his demon/dragon tail
-Natsu and zeref act so similar sometimes there both bubbly in the same way boyishly happy to be around each other
-would elfman Mirajane and lissanna be the opposite of ignia zeref and Natsu I think they have a āwho are the better siblings battle
-Natsu and zeref hate ignias āniecesā (the gold dragons ancestors) because they thing there such great siblings when there just the worst versions of them
-Natsu and zeref can never take things seriously there always giggling and confused by the target
-zeref has a cat called misery which is the opposite of happy and is a Scottish fold cat and also purple (ignia also has a cat whoās a lynx or leopard who canāt stand ignias ass)
