I was telling someone about my experience coming to terms with being trans earlier, and the phrase “I wasn’t even an egg. I was a Togepi,” came to mind. And honestly, I love that analogy and I’m keeping it.

The egg was cracked, I hatched, but I was still, paradoxically, an egg. I started going by my current name at age goddamn 7 (23 years ago) because my dead name “sounded wrong”. People asked me to describe my relationship with my gender multiple times as a teenager and into early adulthood, and how I described it was flat out describing being trans. I might as well have been saying, “I’m a sapient, bipedal, hairless primate. But I’m not, like, a human.” For fuck’s sake, I described my agender ass as being “gender neutral”, in those exact words, for years, and still somehow thought I was cis at the same time. Explain, past me. What does that mean?

So yeah. I wasn’t an egg. My egg cracked by the time I was seven. Or if not by then, at least before I started describing myself verbally to people as “gender neutral”. I looked like an egg. I was still walking around clad in an eggshell. But I wasn’t really an egg, even before I had the right words to describe myself.

It just took a little bit longer for me to evolve out of my shell.

Also, like Togepi’s evolutionary line, I come with blue sprinkles. (Just a dash of masculine gender euphoria.)

when toshiro got on laios ass for being inconsiderate and never thinking about how his actions affect others like he was mean abt it but hes not wrong. Thats a pretty major character flaw and a pattern of behavior for laios — w not choosing jobs that made money for namari who is in a pretty dire financial situation where she cant even get off the island and has to go adventuring in the dungeon to get out of debt, who even explicitly brought this up, eating marcilles familiar immediately even tho she was attached to it, kidnapping shuro into his party and putting him in life threatening situations without like really checking he wanted to be there…?, wanting to see if izutsumi has more than one set of nipples when dehumanization is a HUGE huge issue for her the list goes on and on and on. Like when a friend does this to you its just kinda annoying but when ur the leader u really should be checking if everyones needs r met without them telling u. Like the autism plays a factor for sure, his cultural upbringing plays a factor for sure, but as ppl regardless I think u gotta step up to meet the needs of ppl in the moment or realize u shouldnt be calling the shots. just bc its influenced by factors out of ur control does not make it not a serious character flaw. And its written as such in the story.

(Belatedly) celebrating the one-year anniversary of the 'Destiny Bond' comic with a rare, fully-illustrated piece. A bit of extra context and rambly thoughts under the cut 🫶💖💕

A little over a year ago, I posted the first part of the Destiny Bond comic, originally intended to be a one-off doodle exploring the consequences of Morty's prophetic abilities on his relationship with Eusine.

That sketchy doodle of mine ended up being a whole narrative project spanning across a few months, before I eventually took a pause on it to focus on my mental health (having reached a low earlier in the year).

It was a daring enough project in and of itself, especially with how I had spontaneously taken it on when I was still recovering from a years-long burnout with 2D art. Though (temporarily) stopping sooner than I had hoped, I can confidently say that this little comic project of mine had helped to rekindle my love for drawing as a whole, and had further lead me to meeting some of the most wonderful people and friends in this small corner of the Pokémon fandom (whom also happen to be obsessed with these two silly guys from the GSC/HGSS games). It's a project I hold dearly to my heart, and one that I hope to revisit and continue once I feel ready to do so; as the story has yet to truly kick off (I'm not even joking we're still in the prologue technically I'm yelling /lh).

I hope to be able to share the rest of this story with you all one day, in whatever new form it'll take as. For now, I want to say thank you, from the deepest parts of my heart, for supporting this passion project of mine - and to assure you to tune in for the future of this title. 👀✨
