Lex Luthor is a character who I can't help but like. He's very different from the Joker, but I somehow love both of them. I think it's just the two opposite ends of an extreme. Joker is practically a living cartoon of a man. He's way more entertaining than his superhero rival. Meanwhile, Lex Luthor is clearly worse than Superman, but he's also fun and uniquely tragic in his own right.
He grew up with nothing, and he had to climb his way to the top. He's scared of Superman, because he doesn't understand the unknown and new. He sees Superman as a man who gets adulation for his superpowers, while he (a man who worked for everything) gets no honour and respect. He's obsessed with the idea of beating Superman, because Superman embodies the concept of getting ahead for nothing. That's how I see their rivalry, and it actually helps make their dynamic way more interesting. The enterprising and headstrong man with no powers vs the humble man who has all the powers. It's almost a philosophical battle.
So Joker is a character I like, but I love him largely for his comedy and his humour. Lex is a villain who I came to appreciate because of his backstory and life experiences. They're very different, but they're equally as fun. And stories that show them working together are always incredibly fun.

SuperWonder: the Case against Batman and WonderBat
This is coming from someone who loves Batman and probably read more comics than the “average Batfan.”
Guys, would you want Diana—-a self respecting Amazon—-to be with Batman?
Batman—-the guy who talks down to his teammates and always acts like he’s better than everyone, is ready to take you and your friends down in a heartbeat but is unwilling to take down those who have no interest in repenting (jonkler), doesn’t trust you, and treats everyone like his pawn?
Yeah… exactly… don’t be blinded by the cool gadgets and the dark mysterious aura and the fact that he gets girls (they only want him for his looks and money. They don’t actually love him. Matthew 5:28.)
The DCAU just has Bruce Timm’s idol “Batgod” get all the ladies’ attention. Wonder Woman in that show is NOT the one we see in the comics. She is NOT desperate for Batman’s attention like she was in the show.
In the comics, she even expressed her love and desire for Superman (Wonder Woman #141, Action Comics #818, Superman 80-Page Giant #2, She even had a statue of her and Superman kissing in the Wonderdome (look up the Wonderdome on the wiki page. https://casscain.fandom.com/wiki/Wonderdome)
Even many WW fans said that Batman is NOT the man for Wonder Woman.
Besides, Batman is way more popular than Wonder Woman. She’ll always be reduced to “Batman’s girlfriend”. She gains nothing from Batman, but Batman will always dominate any appearance he makes.
People always talk about what Batman gains, but what about Diana? She’ll just be Bat’s property. They already made Superman Batman’s errand boy. Remember when Superman led the Justice League? Yeah. Exactly. A long time ago.
Average Batman and Wonder Woman interaction if they were married:
“Hey Bruce, can we go to—-“
“No Diana. I’m busy.” (Or he’ll just ignore her.)
Superman and Wonder Woman are where it’s at. Superman and Wonder Woman are each other’s equals in every sense. They’re each other’s best friends.
If you can’t see Supes and Wondy past their powers, then you’re just like Lex Luthor. He only saw them for their powers as many others do.
“They aren’t people at all. They are power. Unpredictable, horrendous power, and nothing more.” -Lex Luthor, Superman/Wonder Woman #5
Even the creators for Superman (Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster) said that Lois was never supposed to end up with Superman.
Lois literally flirted with other men and made Clark jealous. in front of Superman. She even cheated on Superman with Jeb Friedman WHILE SHE WAS ENGAGED. Is that what you want for our boy in blue?
how about we have Lois and Steve be put together? Lois’ dad is a general. Steve does some army work and ARGUS/government stuff.
And as for Batman: BatCat all the way.
Batman sees not all criminals are evil—-just hurting. “Hurt people hurt people”
And Catwoman learns not all rich people are evil. There are good people out there
both of them are loners who learn how to trust each other. (Batman: Hush. The issue where Batman fights Superman.)
(This is coming from a formerly bi person, not important in this context): Also, i don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested. I also found ways to combat lust, if anyone is interested. (I’m talking archaeological evidence, miracles caught live, arguments against evolution, divine revelation, science, cosmology, fulfilled prophecy, evidence for the Bible outside of the Bible, God’s work in people’s lives, etc.)

I find it humourous how in an attempt to make Doomsday interesting, he's been fused with silver age villains twice now, Bizarro in Superman and Lois and now Time trapper
Combining Doomsday and Time Trapper is the best thing done with Doomsday since his debut. Doomsday's evolution ability actually works with how the Time Trapper (as I understand) has very vague powers and actually shifts (you might even say evolves) with how time changes.
Tumblr media
Writers seem to think that the main roadblock for Superman's villains being on the same level as Batman's is that they're "not strong enough". While that may be the case for some, consider that the majority of Batman's villains cannot possibly hope to best him in a physical fight: I'm thinking of Two-Face, Scarecrow, Penguin, Riddler, and Mad Hatter just to name a few. Yet these are some of Batman's most popular and long-running foes. Why? Because they have something to say that reflects on Batman himself. Superman's villains have not received that treatment and attempts at new ones have frequently resulted in Doomsday knockoffs (some which predate the big gray lump himself). They're strong and they punch hard, but they don't meaningfully contrast with Superman's character, history, psychology, or motivations.
Doomsday is arguably the biggest Superman villain outside of the Big 3 (Lex, Zod, Brainiac) yet he only has one story - killing Superman. When said story is the best selling Superman story of all time however, there was never any chance of Doomsday being gone for good. In the wake of his return however the problem was what to do with him. He already established his threat level by killing Supes in physical combat, what could be done that would deliver the same sense of stakes as that? Writers tried making him smart, or making him the pawn of other villains, which was akin to ceding the argument that Doomsday couldn't be juxtaposed with Superman in any meaningful way. Enter Williamson.
Tumblr media
Williamson seized on one of the attributes that the two shared in common: they're survivors. Not even death can keep them down. Both died at the hands of the other and both returned back to life. Doomsday is the unstoppable force destroying everything in his path. Superman is the immovable object shielding those who take shelter behind him. Neither one can permanently destroy the other yet they cannot surrender either. Of all of Superman's foes, it's Doomsday as the Time Trapper who best shows the Neverending Battle. Why? Because it demonstrates how the fight for good that Superman began at the start of his career stretches across the ages. As Superboy, Clark teams up with the Legion and one of his foes is the Time Trapper. After becoming Superman in the present, he fights the Trapper's earlier form as Doomsday. Billions of years from now when he has ascended into becoming Superman Prime, the Time Trapper continues to exist at the end of everything. From now into eternity the same evil that Superman began his career fighting will persist.
Another attribute in common that Williamson pointed out is their immortality. In Knight Terrors Williamson made the argument that Superman's greatest fear is being alone. He outlived Krypton. He'll outlive Ma, Pa, Lois, Jimmy, his fellow Leaguers except perhaps for Diana, all the people he's known as Clark will one day die. Yet barring another fall in battle he is destined to live to the end of time. Being alone frightens Clark, if you want to psychoanalyze it, on some level perhaps he remembers being an infant all alone in a rocket, watching his planet dying, not knowing what would happen to him at the end of his journey. He never wants to feel like that again. Meanwhile Doomsday holds zero qualms about being alone. As Doomsday he wants to kill everything around him. As Time Trapper he wishes to rule over eternity as a god. Either way he's not interested in equality with others - he wants to rise above everyone and stand alone. Unique.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What for Superman can be a hell is heaven for Doomsday. An existence akin to eternal Valhalla for Doomsday to fight across, or rule over as Time Trapper? Crowning himself king of the corpse pile? Yes he wants that. Ironic isn't it, that the creature built for evolution never manages to evolve beyond putting his own selfish needs first. Luckily for us, Clark was able to, in no small part because of the people he cherishes to the point of dreading the idea of outliving them.

Thoughts on the teaser trailer for the new Superman movie? Despite the drama with the director, I at least appreciate that they casted an attractive and talented actress (I’m a big fan of hers in The Marvelous Mrs Maisel) to play Lois Lane instead of blackwashing the character.
I think if it's an accurate representation of the movie then the movie should be good, maybe even great. But I'm very, very skeptical about James Gunn being able to make a good movie that isn't Guardians of the Galaxy. I also don't like how prominently his name is featured in the trailer, which reeks of ego since his name isn't exactly a byword for quality anymore.
I think the cast is decent--actually pretty good for a modern Hollywood movie. I don't like the race swapping of Perry White, but at least Jimmy Olsen is a white guy again. Not really a f an of Johnathon Kent being a fat bald dude though. Johnathon Kent is supposed to be a wholesome farmer, and that actor looks like a scruffy sex offender.
I like that they have Crypto (Zack Snyder would never) and I like the suit a lot more than I thought I would after the first reveal. I still think the trunks should be smaller and less "boy shorty" and I don't know why modern Superman movies are scared of primary colors, but it looks good. I liked David Corenswet (silly ass name) in Twisters so I'm willing to give him a shot even though I'm #TeamCavill all the way and think he was done dirty by Gunn. You're right that Lois Lane actually looks like Lois Lane. Not too hot, not too "modern". She actually looks like a journalist. It'll be interesting to see Hawkgirl on the big screen, same with Guy Gardner. Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luther is great casting. He can do serious and goofy equally well so he should fit whatever kind of Lex Gunn wrote. I just hope he's treated seriously as a villain and not as a joke because he's a rich white guy.
I'm a little worried about how many characters Gunn is cramming into this Superman movie, though. I hope the main focus is on Superman and not Gunn playing to his comfort zone with ensemble casts.
So, yeah. I liked the trailer but I need to see a lot more to decide if the movie is going to live up to what was shown today.

Role Reversal AU
Basically, the heroes are villains and the villains are heroes or civilians.
There's a lot of information that I packed into this post.
Beings that aren't included in the swap are: Captain Marvel/Shazam/Champion Teth/Black Adam Captain N*zi (because fuck no is any n*zi going to be anything but evil. No Marvel mistakes with this au.) The Seven Deadly Enemies of Man Literally all of the villains trapped on/in the Rock of Eternity Orange Lantern The Blue Lanterns The Indigo Lanterns White and Black Lanterns Demons maybe Constantine? what do you guys think? Darkseid (good darkseid could be interesting tho) Doomsday Hfuhruhurr (aka Word-Bringer; an alien that collects brains from all over the universe to create an immortal hive mind called "The Union") Mongul 5th dimensional beings (they just like annoying people in general) Pariah Dark probably more
Some Heroes: Amity Park - Plasmius, Technus, Skulker, GIW, Maddie & Jack Gotham - Joker, Two-Face, Bane, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, Ra's Al Ghul (the LOA is more like a secret watcher's society but more infighting in a friendly way) Metropolis - Lex Luthor, Cyborg Superman, Metallo, Parasite London - Cheetah, Giganta, Circe(part-time) Justice League (leaders) - Talia Al Ghul, Lex, Professor Zoom, Cheetah, Star Sapphire (Carol Ferris), Black Manta, Cyborgirl Justice League (general) - Poison Ivy, Gorilla Grodd, Captain Marvel, Red Lantern(Guy Gardner), etc.
Most villains who don't commit any violent crime are simply civilians in this au. (ex: Catwoman, Box Ghost, or Kite Man) Some villains - like Sivanna - become civilians while their family members become villains.
Some background info:
Danny dies and it pisses him off that his parents don't notice. Sam and Tucker agree and they become menaces to Amity Park. Maddie and Jack notice and decide that someone needs to reign in the troublemakers, which makes things worse. Then, the ghosts start noticing and they start sending a ghost to take care of the rogue ghost. Eventually, they find that Skulker and Technus are best suited to deal with the trio. Wolf and Cujo join the trio. Plasmius joins Skulker and Technus and they start trying to clone Danny to try to create an equal to fight against him. The clones are mostly viable because of the help of Technus and the Fentons. Team Phantom kill the clones except for Dani, who joins them. Jazz, while not evil, isn't good either. She just wants to prevent her brother from killing their parents. Because all the good guys are much less concerned with keeping civilians safe, there are a few casualties, which includes Jazz. Jazz notices that Team Phantom might be right about her parents, so she leaves Amity and eventually teams up with Zatanna. TLDR; Danny's mad at his parents and makes Team Phantom to cause chaos around Amity Park. Jazz leaves after she dies and joins Zatanna.
Zatanna (and her father) were low level thieves that were performing as stage magicians before Nabu's helmet turned Giovanni into Dr Fate. Zatanna became enraged at how he wouldn't give her father back and started murdering and stealing other magic user's powers and tomes in hopes of one day returning her father to her. After she found Jazz, who offered to help remove the helmet, she stopped murdering as many people. The two often help Klarion get in the way of Nabu's plans to get rid of anything he perceives as chaotic. While they happen to befriend Klarion, they never stop stealing.
Bruce becomes Owlman and is in charge of the Court of Owls. Tim, Dick, and Jason become Talons. Alfred is known as the Executioner. Barbara is a jewel thief until she loses the ability to walk thanks to falling off a roof while being chased by Joker. After, she becomes a cyber security threat that constantly steals, releases criminals from jail, and hacks into whatever tech the heroes use. Kate becomes a mob boss. Signal starts out stealing, but accidentally turns into a small time mob boss that works on the opposite side of the city. Commissioner Gordon is a corrupt cop who is firmly in Bruce's pocket. He sometimes fills in for Bruce during CoO meetings when Lucius can't. Cass is an assassin called Orphan that inspires more fear than (canon) Deathstroke. Steph got annoyed by how often her dad (cluemaster) was out of the house and became Spoiler - a villain similar to (canon) Riddler. Selena, while she's a civilian, also happens to be Bruce's street level informant.
Clark, while still having been raised by Martha and John Kent and becoming Superman, decides that being a hero is rather boring. While ruling the world sounds intriguing, he's seen many other villains that are just as competent as he is that want to rule. So he decides that he wants to be a complete (rather dark) nuisance. He ruins buildings by tagging them with his heat vision, freezes major water sources, cloned Lex and himself (technically it's a test tube baby but whatever) once, finds ways to steal everyone's stashes of kryptonite, and sometimes murders people. Kon or Conner lives with Lex part time and has two loving parents, both of which don't understand why he enjoys randomly jumping into their battles and fighting them both (causing as much property damage as possible). Lois helps keep criminal activity out of the papers and clocks Clark as Superman right away. She regularly publishes smear campaigns against the heroes and paints Superman in good light. Kara and her clone - Powergirl - regularly fight against Parasite and Cyborg Superman who constantly thwart their plans to take over the world (they're taking Lex's route).
Green Lanterns are like corrupt cops whose mission is to exert their will over others. Hal kills his dad's previous employer while Sinestro tries to stop him. Sinestro creates the Sinestro Corps and is much more like "our and others' fears fuel us and drive us to be able to save people" rather than "fear is true power and should be used as a way to control people". When Parallax takes over Hal, they become the ultimate hero but over time Parallax starts to become corrupted by his willpower and Specter jumps in to keep Parallax from becoming the ultimate evil. After a while Parallax decides that Sinestro is a much better host and both him and Specter leave Hal, who decides to take a long break doing petty crime before breaking the Green Lanterns out of prison. Carol, in the beginning, stops Hal and other Green Lanterns from committing crimes but eventually stops and focuses mostly on taking care of her business and the Star Sapphires. The Green Lantern's main enemies are the Yellow Lanterns, Red Lanterns, and the Manhunters. Blue Lanterns tend to avoid the Green Lanterns and work with the Manhunters.
Barry is super cruel and Eobard Thawne (aka Reverse Flash or Professor Zoom) came from the future to prevent him from destroying everything. Barry's backstory is either he killed his mom and pinned it on his dad, or he ran away from home a few times and his parents died while trying to find him. Thawne is very careful about avoiding Barry while he's a civilian, but is aware that he needs to be close in order to prevent Barry from destroying the timeline or murdering everyone.
Diana has plans on taking over the world of man and eradicating the men while leaving the women in order to create a perfect world for women. Cheetah, Giganta, and (to a lesser extent) Cerce understand that men are needed just as much as women are in order for the world to continue on.

Feel free to add your own ideas or use this for a fic!

geoff johns conner bioessentialism is weird because that means he is 50% evil instead of 100% evil (i am simply extending the logic to Westfield)
Look as far as nature vs nurture goes, Geoff Johns clearly loves discussing the concept, given how much he uses it for Kon, but equally Kon is an interesting character to look at in this scenario? Because not only was he designed, but he has a boatload of issues surrounding the concept of identity!
Kon didn’t even have a name until Clark and the Kents gave him first a Kryptonese name (Kon-El) and then a human name (Conner Kent). He’s the Peter Pan kid! He never thought he was going to grow up and have his own identity! His creators didn’t even care to give him one!
So yes, discussing what makes Kon Kon is interesting, between being a clone and being designed and Luthor implanting both DNA and programming in his brain, and how Kon learnt via Cadmus dumping information into his brain while he was in his tube…
Is he naturally a hero as he was cloned from Clark and designed to be like him? Is he naturally evil because he’s part Luthor? He’s a teenager. He wants to differentiate himself from his parents and guardians, and that’s understandably more difficult when it’s all so mixed up and people have expectations and his original goal is something that can never come true (replacing Clark. Being Superman).
Kon spends a lot of time thinking about and questioning how much of his nature comes from Clark and from Lex, and his eventual conclusion is that he’s himself more than genetically determined to be good or evil (Adventure Comics #1-6 my beloved). And chooses that he will never be like Luthor.
Tumblr media
(Adventure Comics #6)
I love the little scientific investigative journalism research task that Kon sets himself in his journal, btw. “I’ll make a list! And check it off! And test myself to see if I’m susceptible to evil!”
You can really tell who his influences are.

June 1961. The preeminence of Lex Luthor's 1986 reinvention as a billionaire industrialist has created a lot of misconceptions about his pre-Crisis counterpart, a "renegade scientist" who spent as much time in prison as out of it. This Edmond Hamilton story from ACTION COMICS #277 presents a good summation of how Luthor was positioned narratively in the pre-Crisis period (1958–1986). Luthor, who we see is not popular even among his fellow inmates, is asked to use his scientific genius to prevent a catastrophic incident:
Tumblr media
After saving the bomber, Luthor uses his anti-gravity ray to immobilize his guards, then carjacks Lois Lane to make his getaway. We then get our first glimpse of "Luthor's Lair," the villain's secret headquarters in Metropolis:
Tumblr media
After touring his lair and getting a good night's sleep, during which he has a satisfying dream of defeating and humiliating Superman and his friends, Luthor devises a plan to rob Fort Knox. This succeeds marvelously: He uses a new shrinking ray inspired by his dream to shrink the guards, a "fourth-dimensional arm" to remove the bullion from the vaults, and "gimmicked trucks [that] can turn into planes" to carry the loot. When the commander of Fort Knox calls for Superman's help, Luthor is able to draw Superman away with a machine that creates what appear to be globes of Kryptonite (although they're actually "harmless fakes"). Afterward, Luthor is triumphant — but not for long:
Tumblr media
A common complaint about the pre-Crisis Luthor (and other villains of his ilk) is that his plans make no sense because the super-scientific equipment he creates undoubtedly costs more than he could ever hope to recoup through the robberies he commits. (Stealing all the gold in Fort Knox might be an exception, but it's hard to see his being able to convert more than a fraction of the gold to liquid cash.) That's true so far as it goes, and it's a legitimate complaint about some of Luthor's '50s appearances, but this story, like many later Silver Age and Bronze Age Luthor stories, makes plain that money is really not what Luthor is after. He's driven mostly by ego, with his hatred of Superman functioning as a useful object for that drive. Interestingly, in Luthor's dream, when he has the Man of Steel at his mercy, Luthor can't make up his mind about what to do with his foe:
Tumblr media
The Silver Age and Bronze Age stories generally present Luthor as a kind of quasi-hero. He exists in the same kind of demimonde of secret headquarters and fantastic gadgets as heroes like Batman, and like them, he applies his extraordinary skills not to conventional pursuits of wealth, power, or social progress, but to his own somewhat quixotic personal quests. It's true that his elaborate schemes seldom seem likely to make him any money, but that's equally true of Batman or the Silver Age Green Arrow, to say nothing of Superman — Superman could certainly engineer a more lavish lifestyle for Clark Kent than his Daily Planet salary provides, but he's never shown any interest in doing so, and people rarely question that.
Of course, Superman also performs various acts of heroism and altruism (not all of which involve fighting crime), but Silver Age stories repeatedly emphasize that Luthor can and occasionally does do that as well, and even when he has an ulterior motive, Luthor's efforts are usually surprisingly sincere. This is most evident in the stories set on Lexor, a distant world whose inhabitants think Luthor is a great hero, but even in this story, notice that Luthor does in fact save the bomber from crashing before using his device to escape. To the extent that the stories present Luthor as a tragic figure (which they do surprisingly often), the tragedy, as the unnamed government official remarks in this story, is that he only rarely applies his talents "to the good of mankind." On the other hand, that's also true of Batman and the rest of Superman's Justice League colleagues, who could certainly use their abilities to benefit society beyond simply fighting crime and upholding the status quo, but choose not to.
The pre-Crisis Luthor, then, is not simply a villain, but an inverted hero: His logic and his motivations are very similar to those of his superheroic counterparts, except that the (equally arbitrary) lines around what he is and isn't willing to do are drawn somewhat differently.

Hello, DC Tumblr!
Name's Willow, I'm a 20-something trans girl (she/her, if you please) with AuDHD whose brain chemistry was fundamentally changed at 12 years old by introducing myself to the DC universe after watching The Dark Knight for the first time. This blog is more or less a lightning rod for my special interest in all things DC, be it movies, shows, games, or comics. I don’t pretend to be an expert or an authority on anything, especially since I get a lot of my comics knowledge from encyclopedias and wiki surfing due to personal budget and available time. But I still wanted to bring my voice to the DC community, especially as we enter the era of DC Studios and the DCU.
I will post reviews of DC media somewhat regularly on here as well! I will usually post them the day after a movie's release or a finale's broadcast to give myself time to write out as many of my thoughts as possible. As an aspiring screenwriter who dreams of creating an indie animated series, my reviews will focus heavily on the writing and be split three ways:
First will be Characters, where I talk about the main cast and how they're written, acted, and if I know the character well enough I'll throw in how I feel about what is kept or changed from the comics.
Second will be Story, where I will go over basic plot and lore, and if I enjoy the work enough I will do my best attempt at a deeper analysis to really dig under the layers and talk about the deeper stuff like themes that really made the story click for me. Essays were a struggle in high school, so emphasis on "best attempt".
Finally there's Style, a less specific part where I just talk about any filmmaking decisions that stood out to me as especially good or bad, like soundtrack or camera work.
Reviews of new releases will always be spoiler-free, followed by a more fandom-focused and appropriately tagged spoiler post a week after the review drop. DC media released prior to 2025 won't have such filters, so sorry if I spoil anything that came out prior to Creature Commandos for you.
Hope you like what you see and hear from me, and don't hesitate to send a message or ask if you wanna know my opinions on anything DC or just to chat! But just for a quick read to get to know my tastes fast, I threw a bullet list of personal faves under the cut 👇
Favorite Comics Continuity: New Earth era, after Crisis on Infinite Earths and before Flashpoint and The New 52
Favorite Storyline/Run I've Read: Loeb and Sale's The Long Halloween.
Top Three Heroes: Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash (Barry or Wally, I love ‘em equally)
Top Three Villains: The Joker, Cheetah, Lex Luthor. Bit of a normie lineup but hey, they're iconic for a reason.
Favorite Live-Action Film: Tie between Superman: The Movie and The Batman.
Favorite Animated Film: Batman: The Long Halloween, both parts.
Favorite Live-Action Show: Never finished any, but I definitely had the most fun with season 1 of The Flash. Totally open to recommendations so I can edit and update this spot later.
Favorite Game: I'm counting imprints like Vertigo as DC, so The Wolf Among Us.

🌎👽 and 🤖 for the superfam asks!!!
🌎 : Favourite friendship with a non-superfam character? I think the Martian Manhunter and Superman friendship from the DCAU was very fun and sweet. The DC Trinity, written well, is also enjoyable.
👽 : Favourite villain? See, The obvious answer is Lex Luthor for various reasons, but now that I’ve gotten a bit deeper into Superman lore, I think Zod is a very interesting bit of progression. Because this, depending on the timeline, is the first other Kryptonian that Clark has seen and he ends up having to fight someone who is on equal footing and military trained. It’s interesting.
🤖 : Favourite adaptation? My Adventures with Superman is… it’s just really charming. It’s nice, I love it so much. DCAU, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited especially, have a core memory in my head.

Welcome to Earth-Zero
Greetings, Tumblr travelers! My name is Ariel Strusiat, and I love comic books. And above all else, I love the worlds and characters that dozens of different writers and artists have created through them over the years. As a result, I have come to wish to pay homage to them. So, and very inspired by my buddy TheMysticSpyral from @earth-93, I have decided to reinterpret the DC Universe under my personal vision. Even though I originally intended to tackle the Marvel Universe for personal reasons and still intend to do so someday, I feel the urge to do it with DC as well, purely out of fun. So what is Earth-Zero? Earth-Zero is a streamlined DC Universe, a reality that mixes and matches elements from the various iterations of the primary DC world, namely New Earth and Prime Earth. Also included are characters and concepts from other DC media, such as the DC Animated Universe, Young Justice, the DC Extended Universe, the Arkhamverse, and more. You will also find unique ideas of my own. DC imprints such as Milestone Media, Wildstorm Productions, and Vertigo Comics will also be equally represented. Earth-Zero: In the Now The year is 2000, and the Justice League has been founded following the defeat of the interstellar gladiator Despero. Bruce Wayne, otherwise known as the Batman of Gotham City, has stepped into the role of Chief Strategist for the team. Using an exclusive version of Wayne Industries' Brother-OS operating system, linked to the Brother Eye satellites orbiting the Earth along with the newly established Watchtower, Bruce seeks to gather information on his fellow League members, potential recruits and other individuals of interest to learn more about their histories, personalities and capabilities so that any choice on the battlefield will be a winning one for the Justice League. Does this mean that we will only follow Bruce's perspective throughout Earth-Zero? Of course not. Eventually, I plan to have information told from the perspective of Checkmate's Maxwell Lord and A.R.G.U.S.’ Steve Trevor. Among others, as we go deeper into this world. A Brief Timeline of Early Earth-Zero
May 14, 1998 — Clark Kent makes his public debut as Superman by saving Lex Luthor's private jet from crashing into the Daily Planet building. December 4, 1998 — After breaking up with Andrea Beaumont following his return to Gotham City in early July, Bruce Wayne steps into the shadows as Batman to fight the city's Falcone crime family. April 23, 1999 — Barry Allen is struck by lightning after a chemical accident and acquires super speed. Inspired by his retired hero and legal guardian Jay Garrick, he takes up the mantle of The Flash. August 20, 1999 — U.S. Air Force pilot Hal Jordan is selected by dying Green Lantern Abin Sur's Green Power Ring to become Earth's new Green Lantern, succeeding Alan Scott. March 14, 2000 — Arthur Curry accepts his Atlantean heritage, adopting the name Orin, and becomes Aquaman. July 30, 2000 — Diana of Themyscira, known publicly as Diana Prince, arrives in "Man's World" with Steve Trevor to appear before the United Nations in New York. Diana becomes an ambassador of peace as Wonder Woman. December 29, 2000 — Despero attacks Mars seeking to fight J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter. Unable to face him alone, J'onn goes to Earth to gather a force that can defeat Despero. The Justice League is formed in the aftermath of the battle.
I hope to get character profiles and concept information out in the next few days, this due to the fact that I'm busy with college. In particular, I'm excited to write about Green Lantern out of all of them. But let's start with Superman, since he's the one who started it all. See you soon!

Superman's kids ranked
Hmm guess the bottom is where I start here (please note I have not been able to read the dailies)
Wait. Actually there's a few unranked kids, so first a pre-ranking ranking:
Unranked (+ "Superman's" kids)
Superman-Red's Twins and Superman-Blue's Twins: they just kind of exist. They don't have any characterization at all since they don't even talk
Carl (Mr. Mxyptlk): He does a little trolling. I feel a bit bad for Larissa Lenox though
twins in Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #55: no. I don't want to think about this story.
Mooki: this isn't superman. He's neat. Robot Merkid
Lyle and Lili: that's not Lois and that's not Kal-El, it's actually his cousin and a lookalike
Superman Jr (Robin (Fred Ashley (Dick Grayson))): i uh wha. Hmm I think I'll rate him exclusively from the story. Anyways it's basically Lois pranking Superman back via blackmailing Robin (she was pretty sure Robin was one of 6 people). Uh Funny and weird I guess but that's what happens when you prank each other via pretend space travel.
Clark Jr. & Lori (Man of Tomorrow #15): they're literally demons. Anyways they're kinda bland because it's "picturesque traditional American values" that are directly opposed to Superman being more due to what they are. (also RIP Post-crisis Lana, the other main Lanas are simply built different; but also it was Neron so ...). At least Clark Jr. wanted to leave smallville
son & daughter w/Lana Lang (Action Comics #492) : R.I.P. you nonexistent kids. You seemed nice
Lois Lane's son from her coma dream (Showcase #9): uhh what a strange character to rate. So I'm just not going to. idk Superman was trying to get Lois to wake up by making her unhappy so it's weird
Orna Kal-El: alan moore did not write orna at all. She just shows up and says no lines.
Van-El: "I don't think you're real" doesn't hit as hard in the comic. Also he's kinda bland.
Extra note on the black mercy thing:why ISN'T Lyla Lerrol still an actress Moore? Please explain
Richard, M'R'R and K'R'K: nothing characters who also expanded the British empire. this should've ended with K'L'L dismantling the British empire
Twins, with Lois Lane (Adventures of Superman #561): they just sorta exist in Supes's dream. Remind me of the more troublemaker versions of Silver Age twins though (probably a reference since it was a Dominus Effect Epilogue)
Lara Lane Kent (Injustice dream): actually a good character. too bad she's basically the conscience of a man who's basically the worst superman ever.
Martha (Man of Tomorrow #15): She seemed nice despite being fake. At least Clark actually being superman in this fake reality means that she actually gets to do stuff. She wants to go to the moon again. That's it. That's the whole character
onto superman's actual kids;
#55: JLA: Act of God baby; I hate him and everything he stands for
#54: The Others (JLA: Created Equal): Unlike Adam they don't feel sad about being misogynistic and have a change of heart after not during the Luthor fight
#53: Adam Kent: according to the text itself Lex only heightened his misogyny
#52: Kara (and the others) (JLA: Created Equal): She's a girl so she isn't misogynistic. Unfortunately it's weird because she's Power Girl's daughter. seems like a nice person though. these 3 might just be because of me just not vibing with the story but ehh w/e
#51: Lar-El and Vara: these 2 are just kinda really bland. doesn't help that they only show up twice. there's the interesting hook of feeling that Superman abandoned them, but it's too little.
#50: The Twins (World's Finest 35)
Tumblr media
I think this basically sums it up. They're basically used as bratty normal babies that Clark gets annoyed by
#49: Bruce Kent: he exists I guess (will not complain about the story, will not complain about the story, will complain about the story; evil captain marvel is dumb and it's weird how different characters are affected by the apocalypse very differently. also the "we belong together" line hate when they do that, but that's not about Bruce Kent so it's moot). that's pretty much it.
#48: Jonathan Elliott: he exists I guess (will not complain about the story, will not complain about the story, will not). that's pretty much it.
#47: Jonathan Kent (Green Lantern: Darkstars): He exists I guess. has a bit more stuff to him, but he ends up being a good dude despite Belzebeth controlling the darkstars
#46: Lara Kent (Dark Knight/Millerverse): idk her vibes are just off. I like her but then she does something and it's like eugh Frank Miller. and her parents also being OOC does her no favors. Her appearance in the third series made me rank her worse. I do like the thing where she finally touches the ground at the end, but I just really dislike her whole character. At least her dad's more in character in the third one ig. her vibes are off
#45: Jonathan Kent (Future State): he's nice i guess. There just isn't much of him so he's right here. Not a lot of room to be a character when it's just like 5 panels
#44: Jonathan Kent (Space Age): he's nice i guess. Rated slightly higher due to a snowball fight. he doesn't do much
#43: Larry & Carole (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #36) they don't show up much and don't have much characterization besides only one of them becoming a superhero so not ranking those versions. I guess these two at least have some characterization in that they like playing with the space animals and Larry becomes Superman II
#42: Vol: he's fine he's fine. Besides being a character in one of the most batshit insane superman plots; he's just fine. At least he saved his universe and sent Sonn back to the Earth-One Universe. So uhh points for him I guess? He does a bit more than SGFLL 36 Larry and Carole so he's ranked higher. I guess
#41: Krys Kent: I liked him enough but he kinda has nothing going for him. I guess he has a bit of potential in that he could probably learn magic (he doesn't have powers). He seems nice I guess and he also has the fun line near the beginning of the story after Superman throws him, but that's about it
#40: Krys's evil ghost demon extradimensional twin: The villain has more of a character due to talking more, but really he's just evil for the sake of it. Interesting villain... ... ...I guess evil ghost extradimensional beings don't count for Superman's rules
#39: Jor-El II (Action Comics 327): really wants Clark to stop spoiling his kid. He thinks there's no such thing as crooks anymore (he's wrong), but he's always on missions doing Superman stuff I guess. there must be a lot of natural disasters I guess.
#38: Baby Bliss: toddler written during the silver age. At least he helps Clark a bit although most of the time Kal is just confused about the situation and Baby Bliss sometimes does some trickery to Superman. So I'm ranking him near the middle
#37: Lola Kent: points docked for getting with her cousin. Other than that she's good, since she has very similar characterization to pre-crisis superman, who is a pretty good character. but yeah she's down here because of Jimmy Jr. She'd probably be higher if it wasn't for Lucy Lane
#36: Jor-El II: he is a victim. this happened because his mom was a jerk and honestly I'm not sure if Lois really got through to Lois. There's also probably a better way to get through your alternate universe self who's tired of being a housewife. At least his dad was nice the whole time and even apologized about always leaving for missions. Jor-El II's life sucks and I'm not convinced it gets better. ranks low since I didn't really get anything for his characterization
#35: Clark Kent Jr (Superman #404): seems like a nice kid who loves his parents. I like the bit where Lana makes Clark Jr makes Clark gets ice cream but there's really not much here. I will say this was a very interesting imaginary story that I wouldn't mind being expanded on
#34: Superman II (Jorel Kent): he only appears in 3 Superman 2020 stories so he doesn't have much. He really is Superman II. there's not much differentiating himself from his father. Kalel has more going on just because Superman 2020 is about Kalel and not Jorel.
#33: Superman Jr. (Denny O'Neil): He's dead now. Denny O'Neil's take was weird. Still liked him though. He tried heroing even though he caused disasters everywhere he went. I guess he self-sacrificed himself for the good of reality
#32: Joel Perry Kent: He is also a victim because of Ultra Humanite. Idk I think Clark is also at fault here; just tell the dude. However him trying to kill the Vietnamese village is all on him. It doesn't say that Ultra-humanite told him to do it sooo.
#31: Jonathan Kent (Frank Millerverse): he's fine I guess. He felt like the imaginary story kids or silver age superman when he was fighting Darkseid so he ranks a bit higher. like when the supers are like tricksters
#30: Larry (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #39): He is a bit of a scamp so that's great. He does cause Jimmy to go blind and Lana to breathe fire though, but then again Clark didn't explain the black magic to anyone in the family so really that was Superman's fault.
#29: Superman Jr (World's Finest #154 & #157): started as bit of a jerk to Bruce Jr but basically mellowed out. Since he's only in 2 comics there's not much characterization here and his dynamic with his Bruce Jr isn't as great as the Bob Haney version
#28: Kara Kent: Honestly kinda bland. She has a sweet relationship with Bruce Jr, but that's basically it. Like she has half the powers of Superman and complains about it a few times, but that's really par for the course of biological superman kids. Has a bit more of stuff in Generations 2, but nothing really to make her go higher or lower on this list
#27: Supergirl (Ariella Kent)/R'E'L, the Destroyer of Worlds: reading the dc one million issue again it's not bad but the comedy doesn't land as much as it wants to. despite her crying in that one scene I just don't like her as much as the others unfortunately :/
#26: Johny Kirk (Superman Jr): Nice kid, unfortunate circumstances though. Also his ending was horrible. Where does he even live now. Like he totally should've stayed being adopted by Superman
#25: Tommy: he's just a little guy and unlike almost everyone else that's main canon, he gets a happy ending. Clark could and should check on him from time to time though. Also since he's powerless I find him more interesting than Johny
#24: Jonathan Kent II (Kingdom Come): All things considered he's pretty cool. Most of it is due to cribbing Phantom Stranger's style but he's alright. Do like how he has Hypertime powers; But other than that he's kind of just the monitor from COIE
#23 Larry and Carole* (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #23): basically more subdued versions of the twins with lady luck, so they're less fun but also they don't seem to purposefully mess with their parents like their earlier counterparts. They also have belts that can be switched on/off to stop them from having superpowers so that's interesting. They're fights also seem more playful than anything
#22::Jonathan Samuel Kent: there's a lot I do NOT like about him but there's lots of good bits and pieces. I unfortunately have to concede that he's not the worst jon.
#21: Twins, with "Lady Luck" in Superman #131: the twins are menaces. But in a fun way. They keep on fighting and messing with each other (& their parents). It's great
#20: Joan Kent: I liked her enough, Liked how she tried to trick Larry at first, although unfortunately that doesn't work and she kinda spends the whole story kidnapped by Ironclaws. I do like how she argued with Larry while Larry was evil, though it seems like they had a soft spot for each other even before Larry turned good. but she ultimately doesn't do much so I had to rank her lower. If it was more of a Joan story than a Lois story she might be ranked higher
#19: Clark Kent Jr/Superman Jr/Superboy (Superman #192 & 194): I liked him more in 192 where he was a bit more mischievous, and then started talking in gigantic words, but he was fine in 194 as well. He was even able to outsmart Lex Luthor. He'd probably be higher if he stayed more mischievous or was still using gigantic words in his vocabulary. I do really like this imaginary story plot though.
#18: Jor-El II/Nightwing (Superman #166): Good character but not as good as his brother, he's basically a kid Superman but he doesn't feel as developed as Clark Superboy. That's probably why they focused more on his brother. He teased Kal-El II at the beginning a bit too much, but he basically stops after Clark tells him to stop
#17: Pyrrhos: Pretty good villain all things considered. don't like that he was the one who killed Darkseid but that's because I read Kirby's New Gods. I liked him enough
#16: Clark Kent Jr./Superman Jr. (Bob Haney): He's great. His dynamic with Bruce Jr. is also great. He's more optimistic and more of a reader than Bruce Jr. I feel like Clark Jr is like a more hotheaded Clark. Even at their most confrontational Batman Jr. and Superman Jr remain friends. points docked a bit due to not really existing without Bruce Jr. He does have a bit of an inferiority complex ("generation gap") due to only being about half as strong as Superman so characterization bonus
#15: Cir-El is neat; the whole weird Mia thing was not. But it's ok cause I'm ranking his kids not his not kids. Kinda suffers for only being in like 13 issues, but i enjoyed her existence while she was there. Like how she kept on thinking of Superman (and Lois) as her parents even after the truth was revealed
#14 Lara Lane Kent (Adventures of Superman #638): liked what little there was of her. She seems like a neat character. Best part was the Calvin and Hobbes homage.
#13 Kal-El II/Flamebird/Kalel Kent (Superman #166): Good character, having no powers while your brother and dad do, gives ample reason for an inferiority complex. I also like how it showed he was a bit smarter due to him deciding to read more books and studying which wouldn't have happened without his inferiority complex about no powers. Also like how he kept messing up with the secret identity bit by accidentally calling Nightwing Jor when they were in Kandor
#12: Laura Kent (Superman Family #200): She's neat. Wasn't born with powers but developed them later, but like in the same day. She seems interesting enough. It ends before she can tell her parents she got powers so unfortunately she's not as high as she could be. Good character from what little we see of her though
#11: Super-Baby (Superman #224): EVIL baby. L.E.G.I.ON. ripped off this guy when they cooked with Lyrl. I like how he completely took over the villains' operations once they made themselves known. Guess he wasn't as intelligent as he thought since Superman specifically booby trapped the springs which was how to make the actual puzzle. Fun villain; just a normal baby know though
#10: Carol and Jane Kent (Secret Identity): only show up as actual characters in the last issue, but it does a decent amount building them up in how their similarities and differences to their dad. Them being less scared than Clark makes sense since they had each other.
#9: Zod (DCAU/A Better World): I actually like this kid quite a bit. Neat powers is a bonus as well. when they focused on him it was actually quite an enjoyable read
#8: Jon Kent (Son of Superman): I actually really like this Jon. He's also kinda funny sometimes. He kinda reminds me of what current Jonathan Samuel was TRYING to be but actually succeeding. It helps that the world he lives in is like our current world but a bit worse. (Some of the characters in the elseworlds feel OOC but other than that I like the story). Jon's just a good character all around.
#7: Osul-Ra & Otho-Ra: these two are pretty close in ranking since sometimes I like Otho more and sometimes I like Osul more, so I'll just put them in the same section. Depending on how other writers write them they may move up (or down). Osul has the Old God stuff while Otho has the more brash stuff.
#6: Lisa Kent/Superlass (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #91): I just like her as a character. She's nice and a bit brash at times, but honestly all around she seems to just want to help. despite the imaginary story having the end and feeling like a tragedy, it feels more hopeful than certain other stories here. She probably should've asked Lois if she wanted to be cured first though
#5: Kara (Superman's Girl Friend Lois Lane #20): Honestly this one was just a tragedy of miscommunication, but also Kara and Kal DID ignore Lois a lot which while understandable, but uh yeah. Honestly I blame Lois having to quit her job and the midvale investigator mainly. Kara's basically mainline Kara here, which unfortunately includes the not being adopted (yet) part
#4: Laney (Superman 215): I feel like Laney has more Lois than previous lois kids with superman so she's ranked higher. She's more impatient and curious. She also kinda sorta gets a happy ending though she and clark are mourning and going through grief the whole time. ...I hope other Lois doesn't feel bad about this whole situation, but that's not me ranking Superman's kids. That's me talking about the story
#3: Christopher Kent: Yeah he's great. He's just a really nice kid, who has trauma and also has a bit of trouble fitting in. His age up while weird at least gave him cool powers... eventually. And also I think they fixed it? Mon-El taking him under his wing at the finale was neat too. Bring the actual him back
#2: Jonathan Lane Kent: I wasn't expecting to like him so much. He really develops as a character. and eventually could even be called a hero. Plus the only reason he was even evil in the first place was because he was raised young by Harvest so him eventually actually being a hero makes sense. Weird character though
#1: Gregor Nagy: I actually really like his one and done story. bring him back.
Also:
Tumblr media
this is why he's peak. It's ultimately about not feeling like you fit in the world. bonus points for having a completely different power set that's also cool
#0: Jimmy Olsen. obviously. I will have to say Superman was a jerk due to a misunderstanding but Jimmy being the GOAT that he is doesn't mind not being Superman's son. And despite not having a happy ending as a superman son, he does gain/regain 2 other dads

i get what you’re going for with lex luthor as bruce wayne’s nemesis but the penguin is already basically that
now this is interesting, because you're right that penguin fills the niche i gave to lex luthor, but i maintain that bruce vs lex would be a very different battle than bruce vs cobblepot. i think penguin and luthor are just the same character on different levels - penguin is a rich guy, sure, but he's not a billionaire like luthor is, and i think lex would give bruce a more unique challenge because lex is fundamentally from a different world than bruce.
i'm in the party that thinks bruce works best as a millionaire instead of an outright billionaire for thematic reasons, so pitting bruce against someone who unquestionably has MUCH more money than him (as opposed to someone like penguin, who's usually portrayed as being his equal in income) would be a test to bruce's adaptability and social skills, not to mention his humility. for once he's not the biggest dog in the fight! financially bruce can't compete with lex, nor does he have the same sway over the larger political sphere as him, since lex is perfectly willing to get his hands dirty in ways that bruce is staunchly against.
also, while penguin obviously knows how to be sociable, lex is textually an extremely charismatic guy (he got to be president for pete's sake) which is another thing bruce would have to compete with - a lot of his battle with luthor would simply be a charm-off, and an especially tense one at that considering how diligent bruce would have to be to keep lex from suspecting him. clark kent has the advantage of being too small and insignificant in lex's eyes to be superman, but lex wouldn't see bruce as insignificant - small and easily dealt with, sure, but certainly not someone who can be ignored - nor does he hold batman on the same pedestal as he does superman. catch lex's interest in the wrong way and bruce's secret identity is genuinely in danger.
now that i'm actively thinking about it, i don't think lex would work as bruce's archenemy, but i still think it'd be neat to see an au where bruce wayne went toe-to-toe with lex luthor on a regular basis. i think they'd challenge each other in interesting ways.

Dear Wonder Woman fans, us SuperWonder shippers are not your enemies
this is coming from a Wonder Woman fan, a Superman fan, a Batman fan, a SuperWonder fan and a Clois fan.
you only want the best for Diana, and so do we. And the best is Superman. Not Batman, not Steve trevor, or anyone else. just Superman. Clark for Diana and Bruce for Selena. And how about we have Lois and Steve be put together? Lois’ dad is a general. Steve does some army work and ARGUS/government stuff.
we don’t want to Clark to overshadow Diana. But If you pair her up with Batman, then you know how it will be—-DC will just make Diana the property of Batman because Batman is more popular than Wondy, so people only recognize her as “Batman‘s girlfriend” and nothing more. Superman and Wonder Woman used to call out Batman for his bat$hit but nowadays they just tolerate everything he says because he’s Batman.
DC already massacred Superman’s character. He used to be the leader of the Justice league in the 80s right before he died, but then after Bruce Timm showed up, the DCU became the BCU (Batman Centered Universe)
post Bruce Timm and Frank Miller (no hate on them but stop pandering) Superman became all brawn and not brain, all other heroes’ IQ’s are reduced whenever they’re in a 10 foot radius of Batman, and all the ladies gave their attention to Batman—Including our girl Diana, who is completely out of character in the DCAU Justice League cartoons. she is NOT desperate for any man’s attention in the comics.
tell me, ladies and gentlemen, would you want Diana—-a self respecting Amazon—-to be with Batman?
Batman—-the guy who talks down to his teammates and always acts like he’s better than everyone, is ready to take you and your friends down in a heartbeat but is unwilling to end those who have no interest in repenting (jonkler), doesn’t trust you, and treats everyone like his pawn?
Yeah… exactly… don’t be blinded by the cool gadgets and the dark mysterious aura and the fact that he gets girls (they only want him for his looks and money. They don’t actually love him. Matthew 5:28.)
people always make this lame excuse that DC puts them together because of their similar powers, costumes, and popularity.
If you can’t see Supes and Wondy past their powers, then you’re just like Lex Luthor and Steve Trevor. They only saw them for their powers and costumes as many others do.
“They aren’t people at all. They are power. Unpredictable, horrendous power, and nothing more.” -Lex Luthor, Superman/Wonder Woman #5
“I realize that the two of you were meant for each other. Matching costumes. Matching cost powers. Felt like fate. And as weird as it might sound, I found that comforting. You made each other happy.” -Steve Trevor, Superman #48
Fans also say that Wonder Woman and Superman need a human love interest (Batman or Steve) to “ground them.”
Lois GROUNDS Superman? Steve GROUNDS Wonder Woman?
Isn’t the human thing to “love and be loved? To serve God and serve others?” Regardless of color, origin, and background?
Would that not apply to both Supes and Wondy too? They were loved by their parents, loved the  people around them, were hurt and bullied, learned to find their place in the world, and were taught by their parents to love the people they shared this messed up rock with and to help others. And this was BEFORE Lois and Steve.
Supes and Wondy are each other’s equals—-emotionally, physically, mentally, spiritually. They know what it’s like to live in a world made of cardboard.
But they also share the same goals and optimism—to better the world and end crime and all that through love and compassion. Not Arkham-style beatdowns.
Even the creators for Superman (Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster) and Wonder Woman (William Marston) said that they’re perfect for each other. Supes’ creators even said that Lois was never supposed to end up with Superman.
Also, modern steve and Lois is literally everything what Diana and Clark were back in the OG comics. Diana wants Kal, Clark, and Superman, and Clark wants Wonder Woman and Diana.
In the older comics, Clark and Diana were the butt the joke in their own comics (nothing changed now)—-their love interests only wanted their superhero identities. Then DC gave their dynamics to Lois and Steve for whatever reason.
Besides, Lois literally flirted with other men (yes, Batman included. See Batman: Hush) and made Clark jealous…in front of Superman. She even cheated on Superman with Jeb Friedman WHILE SHE WAS ENGAGED. Is that what you want for our boy in blue?
how about we have Lois and Steve be put together? Lois’ dad is a general. Steve does some army work and ARGUS/government stuff.
I hope you can see things from our perspective. We love Superman, Wonder Woman, and Superman and Wonder Woman.
thanks for reading. God bless and happy SuperWonder shipping!
P.S. (This is coming from a formerly bi person, not important in this context):Also, i don’t mean to force anything on anyone, but we have various types of evidence for biblical events, if anyone is interested.

Who would be the first ideal supervillain for SUPERMAN? And by “supervillain” I meant one with powers that are equal and/or greater than Superman’s. I imagine this villain would be his greatest challenge in his early career as Metropolis’ first superhero.
Despite DC having loaned him to the JSA, I do think that Ultra-Humanite works the best as Superman's first villain for a couple of reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off he works as a "John the Baptist" like precursor to Lex Luthor and Brainiac. Like them both he's a bald genius, but unlike them he has no sympathetic traits. Humanite doesn't pretend to have humanity's best interests at heart like Lex does, or that he's after knowledge like Brainiac does. Humanite wants power plain and simple. Sitting on a throne and lording over the world is his grand dream, and he desires this simply because he likes the idea. As a simple villain with grand goals, he makes for a good starter baddie because there's no need for Superman to question whether stopping his first villain is the right thing to do. Humanite must be stopped, preferably with a strong right hook, and Superman is going to give that to him. Lex and Brainiac then serve as evolutions on the model Humanite established by being harder to take down thanks to having more resources (Brainiac) or having turned the law into a shield (Lex).
Second off he's weird. A mad scientist who has transferred his mind into the body of a super strong albino gorilla is bizarre. Much like Superman himself for heroes, Humanite ushers in the beginning of a new breed of villain. Ideally Superman starts off crushing "realistic" criminals, and in response crime throws this freak right back at him. Lex looks like a normal guy regardless of whether he's the CEO of Lexcorp or the mad scientist pariah, but Humanite is something that would make people scream in terror upon seeing him.
Finally there's a historic weight to him same as Superman. In the real world he is the first reoccurring super villain. For continuities where he has history with the JSA, his reappearance alongside Superman let's Superman establish himself by taking down a threat that previously needed an entire team to defeat. If we must keep the JSA around, then I'm game to let Superman justify his reputation as the one everyone looks to by being the guy who demonstrated in his early years that he was on another level compared to the previous generation.

I really enjoyed Action Comics (2016) #1064!
I’d previously only been following Superman (2023), which I haven’t been that into, but now I’m reading Action Comics too because they’re crossing over for the “House of Brainiac” event, and I really liked the overall writing and art style of this issue, even though it was the same writer.
That Lena is smarter than Lex has been teased but not super important in Superman (2023). In this issue Brainiac says, “Bring me the smartest person on this planet,” and then Lena is captured. Lex is not surprised, and it seems that he’s aware of what Brainiac’s plans are, though he doesn’t yet divulge that information in this issue. It looks like Lena’s character, and the fact that she’s been a prisoner of Brainiac before, will be significant in this event.
The original reason that Brainiac took Lena in the Y2K event in 2000 wasn’t because of her intelligence (she was a baby) or anything else specific to her, but because another version of Brainiac that that Brainiac was fighting had hidden himself in her infant body.
In this issue it was revealed that LL-01, the supposed AI of Lex Luthor that’s been at Supercorp since the beginning of Superman (2023), was not actually left there by Lex but was a mole for Brainiac. Back in Superman (2023) #11 Lena had asked the AI about herself and was disappointed that there wasn’t more information about her in her father’s files. The sparse given information largely stated stuff the audience already knew or could presume because it was true about the previous version of her. I’m curious if there’s now more details to come about her background and if her experience with Brainiac differed from what was depicted in the Our Worlds at War event in 2001.
Of the most interest to me is that, while Brainiac has developed a mentality that “power equals knowledge” and so his plans can be understood as him capturing powerful people, it seems as though he wants a family for himself. The introductions to all of the captured characters emphasized who they are loved ones to, priming the audience to view them that way. Superman (2023) #7, the issue Lena joined the book and so revealed that a version of her existed in this continuity and had a history with Brainiac, was also the issue that first teased an upcoming storyline with Brainiac. In it we saw that Brainiac was creating a woman and said, “soon… I will have the power to create life.” I thought at the time that he was creating a daughter for himself, possibly to take the place of Lena. In the original storyline Brainiac had raised Lena as his right hand, but their relationship was not nurturing.
At the beginning of this issue Brainiac says, “I know all there is to know. And yet… something is missing.” And the end of the issue, after having captured all of the heroes of the House of El, Brainiac refers to this as, “What was once Superman’s is now mine. They will help me fill the void in my knowledge. I will understand what I am missing. The universe’s greatest secret will be revealed to me. And instead of hoarding it… For the first time in my existence, I will share it…” He has an army of Brainiacs with him, but notably all of them appear to be men.
To be clear, I haven’t been following any of the announcements about this event and just know what’s in the actual comics themselves.
Also, Lena calling Lex by his first name but then calling him “Dad” when she was in danger reminded me of the previous version of her calling him “Daddy” when she was in danger when she’d previously been formal and only called him “father”:

Hi Mei, so i got a question on previous ask i asked ehich where your favorite characters in fiction but do you have a favorite antogonist/villian? In my case same as before i got a 10 top along with honorable mentions
1. Joker (DC comics)-The clown prince of crime and arch nemesis of Batman. One of the most iconic villains of the DC universe and for good reasons. He killed the second robin aka Jason Todd by beating him with a crowbar after luring him an abandon warehouse. After he qas done he set bombs to make sure the job was done. Paralized Batgirl by shooting her. The fact that Joker doesn't have superpower is crazy considering he killed millions. One of the things i find scary about him is his insanity. He does these thing because he thinks it's funny and that life is a joke. He also doesn't have a definiteve origin story the closest thing we have of his backstory is Batman: The killing joke. Fun fact the injustice universe in a world where superman turned evil was basically the Joker's fault. He tricked superman into killing is wife and unborn child.
2. Green Goblin (Marvel Comics)‐ The amount of thing he has done to make Spider-man life as miserable as possible is insane. Norman Osborn the first Green Goblin was the one who threw Gwen Stacy of the bridge. This cause the death of one of Peter's life interest something that messed him up badly.
3. Lex Luthor (DC comics)- Superman's worse enemy. Funny enough one of the reason why Lex hate superman soo much is because he doesn't want humanity to rely too much on him because he thinks it will make them weak. Intelligent, caculating and ruthless he is dangerous to no end and the fact he is one of the smartest character in the DC universe adds danger.
4. Michael Myers (Halloween franchise)- The big bad and iconic horror character. I find him terrifying for one fact only. He is Pure evil and silent. This was stated a number of times during the halloween franchise. He is silent never once spoken and he kills for no reason.
5. Freddy Krueger (A nightmare on Elm street)- the dream demon of the nightmare on elm street series. He is sadistic, powerful and inevitable in some ways. He hunts his victim on dream and if you die on the dream is game over on real life. The fact that he proyect your worse nightmare and takes pleasure in it makes it worse.
6. Jason Voorhees (The friday 13th franchise)- Another silent killer and Iconic figure in the horror genre. To an ugly bullied kid to a silent vengeful murder. He stalks and ends his victim especially if they set foot on camp cristal lake. Unlike other killers he doesn't kill animals nor children.
7. Light Yagami (Death Note)- For me Light Yagami is somewhat difficult for me on where should i put him. To a once well intention student to an egomaniac with God complex. At first he had good intentions but the more people he wrote on the death note the more he stray from the way. He even beytrayed the people who helped him the most. In the manga his death was pathetic honestly compared to the anime even the shinigami (Japanese Death God) Ryuk said it.
8. Johan Liebert (Monster)- This man is the definition of a monster. A very cunning manipulator who wishes to be the last person on earth. This quote from him that said "The only thing that humans are equal in is death". One of the episodes he nearly made a child unalive himself but showing him the worse in humanity. Luckly the child was save but the protagonist and another character. But the episode was extremely disturbing and he has no value for life unlike the protagonist.
9. Lord Voldermort aka Tom Riddles (Harry Potter franchise)- This man made te wizard world so afraid that people didn't even want to say his name. Evil, smart and powerful antogonist one that shouldn't be underestimated i find him intriguing especially his background.
10. Darth Sidious(Star Wars)- This man his basically responsible for everything to the clone wars to the near extinction of the jedi. Cold, calculating, sadistic and powerful. He is basically one of the reason why Anakin became Darth Vader and Why Yoda's padawan Count Dooku became evil.
Honorable Mentions
Otto Apocalypse( Honkai Impact 3rd)-One of the most unique villains i came across manipulative and culling. Resposible for a lot of the main cast suffering he is one of the most interesting characters i've seen. Despite everything he is very complex, I personally don't think he wanted Kallen to love him back. I think he wanted her to live since he saw that she was the best of humanity.
Darth Vader (Star Wars)- His presence cause a great deal of intimidation. Ruthless, powerful and Merciless. The Fallen Hero has alot of body count during his time as a Sith Lord.
Megatron (Transformers series)- A miner to a founder of the decepticons. He as the mentality peace through tyrany. One of the big bad of transformers he has even manage to killed Optimus back in the old cartoon movies. Althoug his Idw version he was redemed most version of him are evil and cruel.
Shockwave (Transformers)- this decepticon is a scientist with a cold devotion to logic. Even Megatron is cautious of him as he is one the strongest deception in the series.
Madara Uchiha (Naruto)- He as good intention but poor execution. He is basically the smoke demon on naruto. Fought the entire Shinobi allience and went toe to toe with the first hokage. This man has one of the most iconic quotes of all naruto and i love his character.
Pinhead (Hellraiser)- a demon who find pleasure in pain and nothing else. Sadistic and extremely poweful cenobite (basically demon)
I'm way too much of a scaredy cat to watch horror movies, but knowing that Jason doesn't kill animals instantly makes him my favorite serial killer. Like yes, I hate everybody, but animals? They're just following their instinct and trying to survive! Honestly, I would've put Light here if the way the show ended wasn't so... pathetic. Here are the villains I can think of from the top of my head, though.
Spot (Spiderman ATSV) - He appears to be silly and goofy at the start, but I think he's a really good representation of how heroes unknowingly hurt the very people they were trying to save. He lost his job, his life, and even his face because of what Miles did, even though he was just an innocent bystander. I also really felt it when he said this: "You make your flippy, little sassy jokes, and everyone loves them, but no one knows what it feels like... to be on the other side of them."
HoT Raiden Mei (HI3) - Not sure if she's considered a villain, but an antagonist is defined as someone/something that stops the main character from reaching their goals (Kiana trying to sacrifice herself for the world,) so...
Lament of the Fallen is definitely my favorite Honkai CG. The animation, the music... everything was done perfectly. Kiana was willing to sacrifice herself for the world, and Mei was willing to sacrifice the world for Kiana.
Otto Apocalypse (HI3) - Other than what you said, I think his character shows that no one is perfectly evil or kind. There is bad in the good, as well as there is good in the bad. He performed human experiments for medicine to save more people. Despite having done a lot of horrible things, he was a kind leader and an even kinder grandpa. I too, would also spend 500 years and risk everything in the world and the universe itself to revive a girl that doesn't give a shit about me.
Mei Mei (JJK) - I don't care if she's not a villain, I hate her with my whole being. Sincere and kind people like Nanami always get treated like shit when selfish pricks like her get to enjoy all of the benefits of others' hard work. I can't say much because it'll be a spoiler, but I hate her from the bottom of my heart.
Makima (CSM) - In the end, all she wanted was a family to call her own.
