Idea

Satanus is overthrown (Blaze or Neron, don’t matter) and getting dumped on earth in human form, which is just a fairly tan/sun kissed man with wavy black hair in braids for an idea of what he ends up looking like, and what’s a former ruler of hell to do to reclaim his throne and powers but to go to his kinda brother for help!

Cue the JL being baffled at Lord Satanus in human guise demanding to see some brother (bc he knows what company Billy keeps) and they’re just trying to figure out if helping him would be a net good or bad bc on one hand, he’s not as active or malicious an antagonistic force as his sister or Neron, but on the other hand it’s helping to give a demon his powers back to rule literal Hell. When they ask who exactly his brother is he says, “Captain Marvel, the Batson boy, the Big Red Cheese of Fawcett or whatever it is you mortals call him outside his official titles!” And they just have to do some punnet squares in their heads because what?

Anyway, Cap and Satanus talk, JLD is brought in, they agree that “Yeah, better the devil you know then the devil you don’t, plus this one would owe us a favor” and decide to help Satanus before Neron/Blaze can do any damage in their new position

Then there’s CeCe, who goes by Thunder, has confidence up the wazzo, and has no familial relation to Marvel or Shaz. She also says the world forgot it was earth and got taken over by a bunch of history-rewriting jerks called the Science Council that denounces the very idea that humanity came from Earth and it all started on her home world of Binderaan. Which…. is worrying in it of itself to learn happens at any point in history.

But they seem to be pals with the Legion and get along well as they try and stop whatever bad thing is on its way, meanwhile Cap is confused and asking every question he can as it becomes apparent he was unaware of either successor to his powers.

It also becomes confusing when Shaz or Thunder say “Shazam/Captain Marvel” and transform back into young teens which alarms a number of people when they see the carbon copy of a famous boy reporter trembling knowing he probably just messed something up with how people are looking at him and CeCe who looks ready to punch anyone who says something rude in the face

played the game ok boomer at my family party today, ended up explaining to a room of ~20 of my relatives what fanfiction is so they could understand the question, “in fanfiction, what does AU stand for?”. and then the card’s definition of “AU” was wrong so i also had to get into the concept of “canon”.

can u believe. in front of my whole family. a room full of people, aged 3 to 80. all staring at me intently as i explain the difference between an alternate universe and canon divergence. at one point my mom was like “daina i think we get it” and a cousin and two aunts were like “wait no we’re interested please continue” and i had to say to my own mother in front of god and my i am kenough sweatshirt “sorry but unlike you the rest of them DON’T have to listen to me talk about fanfiction on the regular”. my uncle is a retired judge. my one cousin worked for the federal government in a job that was so classified that for years he literally couldn’t legally tell us about ANYTHING he was working on. and today those men sat and patiently listened to me define “coffee shop AU”.

also, not one, not two, but THREE of the answers for the young folks, i knew solely because they were either plot points on stranger things or they were things i found out whilst reading stranger things fanfics. and then i was the only person in our age bracket (10 people, ranging from ages 9 to 42) that knew who anne rice was, and had to explain yet again that the reason i had this knowledge was because… fanfic.

it was surreal. also my aunt, aged 68, may or may not begin attempting to read fanfic now because, according to her, “there are so many stories where there are these small side characters and i’d just KILL to hear their backstory or like what was going through their minds during the main action!” i’m very happy for her. today was wild.
