Would you say raph has been parentfied? Because he’s the one who had to praise Leo when splinter didn’t. It’s the vibe I got as an older sibling myself I was doing most of the parenting my drunk ass parents couldn’t do.

Personally, and I know it goes against a big part of the fandom to say this, but I don’t really think so! There are certainly instances where Raph takes charge and displays parent-y behaviors but in my opinion it’s not enough for me to say he was parentified as much as the popular take says. More often he’s displayed as a protective older brother and acts as such, not so much a parentified sibling.

Not gonna say it’s wrong to see him as such though! It’s just not the vibes I personally gathered from watching him.

Does it ever feel pressuring (no pun intended) to work on a show with such a legacy and history as SpongeBob?

VERY much so, but in a good way, if such a thing exists! one of our mantras on our little storyboard plussing team is “pressure makes diamonds” and it is a very applicable saying

when i first started, i was TEEEEERRRIFIED! i really felt like i had no idea what i was doing, and there have been so many times where i’ve turned in a section and genuinely thought “oh my god they’re gonna fire me for this it’s so bad.” working in animation is frazzling enough! but not only are we working on a cultural mecca, with not only the kids of today to entertain, impress and inspire, but to maintain the integrity of the series and entertain/impress/inspire the kids like us who grew up with the show, we are also working with literal animation legends and animation veterans!! it’s pretty surreal to be working on the same show as someone like Bob Camp, who’s been in the industry for 40+ years… and even more surreal when he says he’s a big fan of your work 😵‍💫‼️‼️‼️‼️

THANKFULLY, i’ve made a lot of strides in curbing some of my storyboarding stage fright. it used to be really bad when i started, like genuinely panic attack inducing! the constant patience and guidance and encouragement of my peers and consistent practice from these past three years have really allowed me to grow and blossom. now, when i feel a bit claustrophobic in remembering the pure scale of what we’re doing, i weaponize it for good!!

i think of how inspired and amazed and obsessed with SpongeBob i was as a kid. how it inspired me to draw, how i remember drawing along to episodes and commercial breaks. my brother and his wife are both elementary school teachers and routinely update me about how their kids are still crazy for SB (and they both brag about me to their kids heheh). i think of all the kids watching, all the kids realizing that getting to draw these characters and interact with them and live in their world is something you indeed can do, all the kids who religiously catch each new episode like i once did… it just fills me with so much confidence and hope and love, and that motivates me to deliver and do my best and try to do what i can to help make each episode be better and more fun than the last

SpongeBob is for everyone, obviously! that’s one of the great things i love about working on it: i get just as much enjoyment watching our finished episodes as our target audience. but i do bring up the kids particularly often because, at the end of the day, that is who we are doing it for and i also just can’t help but think back to how my SpongeBob obsessed self as a kid would have had her world rocked to know i’m doing what i’m doing. i want to give those kids, who i used to be and still essentially am, the same joy and spark and all consuming inspiration i felt and still do

there are definitely some days where the gravity of what we’re doing hits harder than others! some days are a lot more difficult than others. this is an absolute dream job, i’m not just saying that, i always fantasized about maybe one day being able to work my way up to working on SpongeBob and now it’s my first animation job—but it is very easy to get overwhelmed by just how big of a legacy we’re carrying on our shoulders! how many other mega talented people work on this show! there’s a lot to juggle. but we juggle it well. there is so much love and heart and care poured into this show. we do everything we can to maintain the integrity of the characters and the show’s core, and it just makes me love what i do all the more and makes me more determined to do it

TLDR: YES! but i’m much better off for it, because it reminds me of why we’re working so hard to begin with. we all want this show to be the best it can—to maintain its core 25 years later, but still have fun doing it. i mentioned this on Twitter, but when i met Bill Fagerbakke last month he was saying how cool it is that fans who grew up with the show are now able to work on it and i couldn’t agree more. it’s the greatest honor imaginable being able to carry such a monumental torch, and i hope i’m able to keep at it for a long, long time.

OH BOY WOULD I??? (Ok i'll do characters who i belive i have an actual understanding of their personality)

Izzy, at a first glance, is an embodiment of chaos; she's a fun-loving, rule-ignoring, impulsive teenage girl who's favorite hobbies seem to include making shit up and doing her own thing. She's also incredibly talented as well, with her acrobatics, ability to pull shit out of apparent thin air and especially her acting; Izzy is also very intelligent, and experiences the world differently from others. There is a method to the madness, she's just the only one aware of it.

Ella is naive, but passionate. She's kind to a fault, even to those who won't return it; she also has trouble handling others disliking her and is willing to bend over backwards to try and appeal to them. She's also incredibly fixated on fairytale stories and has an interest in singing, to the point she breaks out in song regularly and likes to compare events in her own life to that of the tales she adores.

Courtney is alot of things. She can be arrogant, in a similar way to Pearl from Steven Universe; confident in her own perspective and her own ways, to the point she'd reject different opinions and considers herself to be the best leader her teams could have. She's also very talented, both academically and athletically, definitely a hard worker who seeks structure out as a default. This contrasts heavily with her impulsiveness and temper, especially when she perceives someone else not respecting her abilities (she is a CIT after all!) and doesn't seem to be great at reading people and - god, god she's so autistic i swear i had to stop myself earlier on from just saying she was autistic but SHE SO IS I SWEAR-

Gwen's personality has changed over time, to the point i'd say it's tragic; she started off as an anti-social, judgemental non-conforming girl, a sort of "not like the other girls" type that turns out to simply be an artsy, loner teen with an interest in the macabre and humor that incorporates alot of sarcasm. But overtime, due to other people's judgements and remarks and critisms and (im extrapolating but im sure it's happened) insults has worn her down. By the time we get to 2 years after Island, she's been blamed so often for her relationships falling appart, she starts trying to act more docile and agreable, but due to being an insecure teen, makes alot of mistakes; especially regarding her own feelings. it gets to the point she starts conforming to expectations she's never even considered to be worth her time; this is what i'd use to explain the "double condition" line from All Stars. She's been worn down.

If i had to compare her to anyone or anything, it would be the Grudger from The Evolution of Trust; she's nice to most people she meets, but doesn't trust many, and will stand up for herself and her friends if she sees an injustice. She's unapologetically herself, and doesn't put much stake in what others think of her either. She's also a great team player and has pretty good social skills to boot, and also tends to rely on her gut feeling; hence why first impressions are important with her.

still losing my mind at the way houses relationship with john would have fucked up the way he sees being an omega. just,,, teen house, young and confused, experiencing these absoloutely brutal heats. not understanding why they are so bad and hard when theyre supposed to be a time where an omega feels good. already feeling broken and wrong, and then having to face john's anger and disappointment over him being an omega

like i can only imagine how it would affect him in heat, a time where he would be less able to think coherently. and constantly remembering how traumatic and horrible his heats as a teen were, the memory making him feel bad and in turn making him feel physically worse. just like,,, a constant feedback loop of remembering and feeling bad -> feeling physically worse in turn -> reminding himself even more of his childhood and feeling worse

i feel like after having to deal with his first few heats without a strong family net to acclimate to the changes, once house is outta there and doing his own thing he tries to never deal with his heats alone. he marks his cycle religiously, makes deals with alphas in med school to help him through them, or even finds street suppressants if he's especially desperate.

man. you just know john has put him outside for some of his heats, too. nothing to nest with, no scent blocking patches, just left him in the yard like a sacrificial lamb. it goes without saying how dangerous that is.

hell, once he's employed i wouldn't be surprised if he stole something from the hospital to bring home in case a heat comes up that he can't deal with, something that'll knock him out for the worst of it.

Sonic underground does have an ending in Sonic Universe Issue 50, it follows the scraped script for the final episode and has the triplets turn Super. The Super forms are nice because they aren't all gold but it's kinda goofy because they're instruments turn Super with them.

Got my Dirk shirt all remade now, over a decade later, lol. The first one (from either 2011 or 2012, I don't remember) was on a thrifted shirt (bad idea, because it was already thinning, and costs the same, and it's RARE to find plain white shirts in a thrift store, so you don't get to choose the size - I had to alter the old one). I also accidentally bought shimmer paint because I thought "Pearl" meant the paint was matte. (Pearls are matte, they're not shimmer glittery!!) And I only had one size of good quality paint brush to use.

Now, I have new materials (still the wrong paint, because the store only had the 3D/textured paint in orange, but I made it work), and more brush sizes I can use. I still traced the shape and placement from the old shirt, both to save time, and also because it's like, using something from the old one to make the new one, like handing down the torch, or whatever sentimental reason. (The old one was traced off my old laptop screen, I think.)

I already made a mistake when I tried scraping off a microscopic paint fleck off the sleeve and accidentally held the black brush in my other hand and painted all over the shoulder and it wouldn't wash out, but I've decided that, that will be a grease spot from patching up Squarewave, so if you see the splotch in my future cosplay, 'it was intentional.' \></

So yeah. Here's to many more years of Homestuck cosplay, lmao.

Aw, I actually really love it! 🤭 I dress in lolita fashion and there's a concept called "twinning," when you and your friend(s) wear matching outfits. You can style the outfit exactly the same or a little bit differently, like with different colors of a particular dress or with different kinds of accessories. The general guideline for twinning in printed dresses is that the print will be the same, and dress type and/or color can vary! If it’s a solid dress, then generally it’s the color that can vary. Here's a variety of examples from Tokyo Fashion: one, two, three That has really affected how I view matching outfits outside of the subculture ngl, I just think it's fun! People should wear them all the time regardless of context!!!
