Per your post about Gale, I think it boils down to the fact that Liam Hemsworth is charmless. I remember that during the first Hunger Games movie era a lot of people really did like Gale and wanted to see him with Katniss, this was also right after Liam and Miley got engaged. But then they had broke up and a lot of people blamed Liam for Miley's "spiral" in 2013/2014 and the release of Wrecking Ball and all of this coinciding with the release of the remaining movies, his reputation never quite recovered so no one really had sympathy for Gale because he had the face of the guy that seemingly destroyed America's sweetheart. Not to mention this was also the height of Chris Hemsworth's career and between Liam and Chris, Chris is just more attractive and charming and Liam just looked like a dude struggling and failing to get out of his much more talented older brother's shadow, like a nepotism baby almost (even though Liam was the first of the two to really be "famous" because of his relationship to Miley.)

This makes a lot of sense, actually, the drama with Miley definitely didn't help and he really doesn't have Chris' charm (or talent) so things never looked good for him. I think there's also the way that even during the hunger games promo, Josh was such a compelling presence that his charm completely eclipsed Liam too. There was nothing trying to make us go for Gale. Not in the series or with Liam. I think you're right, he wasn't an appealing person, no matter how objectively hot he is, and things kept stacking against him.

Kaka & Kiki are kinda like Laios & Falin… Kaka being stoic and giving repressed energy like early Laios, Kiki being cryptic and always smiling and kinda soft-looking. Autism siblings 2, ostracized and othered as kids and have a deep bond due to sticking together through it all, though unlike with Laios their parents are very loving so Kaka developed family as a big value more than Laios (bc asides for Falin Laios doesn’t care much about it).

In the gnome festival comic you can see Kaka is more emotive than he seems! Full with a :3 face, and he’s the one crying at the end. He’s insecure about his legs and being tall… It really got to him. Conceal don’t feel. In the gnome festival comic you also see him sensing others’ gaze on him and that something is off unlike Kiki, again Laios-like in the way that judgement from others gets to him more than her.

The sunlight wove its way through the mess of curls on Eddie’s head, keeping Steve’s attention from the person next to him. Eddie seemed like he was glowing— like the light was coming from somewhere deep inside of him, rather than millions of miles away; like he was the center of their solar system, the warmth emitting from him keeping their little planets alive.

Steve felt a bony elbow nudge just under his shoulder, pulling him from his thoughts, “Huh?”

“Is it not hard? Loving him?” Dustin asked quietly, nodding his head toward the man laughing and running around with the rest of the party. Steve glanced at Dustin, trying to figure out how he should even broach answering that question, knowing that any explanation he gave would never make sense. How could it not be hard; falling so deeply in love with someone that won’t ever love him back? Knowing that he just had to be the guy to get some kind of fucked up curse that made him incapable of mutual romantic love?

“I… think it’s easy, honestly.” Steve shrugged, trying to keep his face from revealing his obvious lie.

Eddie’s laughter drew Steve’s attention back to him, the sound of his joy bringing a reflexive smile to his face.

“It doesn’t bother you? That he just… doesn’t love you the way you love him?” Dustin rested his chin on his crossed arms, sounding for all the world like he was the one who was unloveable.

“You can’t make people love you, kid, you know that. And you know I’m happy just to have him in my life; he can’t help the way his brain works.” Steve copied Dustin’s movement, turning his head so he could look at the younger man. That’s what he was now— a man, for all intents and purposes, and every time he remembered that, it made a bittersweet feeling bloom in Steve’s chest.

Dustin rolled his eyes, “Obviously you can’t, but he loves you! I see the way he is with you and that’s love! But he won’t just… be your boyfriend, or whatever, and I don’t get that, man.”

Steve sighed, “Not everything is about romance, Dustin. I love you, but I love you like a brother. I love Robin, and you were convinced for basically forever that she and I were end-game. He just happens to love me the way I love Robin, he can’t help it.”

He moved his gaze back to the group in front of them, his eyes instantly finding Eddie again. He was chasing Erica, running with his hands in claw shapes near his head like he was trying to look like some creepy vampire, or something. She was laughing uncontrollably as she ran, weaving through their other friends who were trying to behave semi-normally. Eddie’s head turned momentarily to where Steve and Dustin were sitting at their picnic table and a grin grew on his face when he made eye contact with Steve.

“I just don’t get it, though. Why can’t he love you like that? You’re like, a catch or whatever, aren’t you?” Dustin frowned, ignoring the finger wave Steve sent Eddie’s way to stare at the woodgrain on the table in thought.

Steve turned his head back to Dustin and unfolded his arms a bit to pat him on the head, “Doesn’t matter, man. I love him, he knows I love him, and how I love him, and he’s okay with it, even if he doesn’t feel the same. I just want to keep him near me however I can, and if that’s as my best friend, then that’s as my best friend.”

Dustin sighed deeply, seemingly giving up on his fight for Steve to finally get himself a partner, and Steve thanked everything he could think of for that.

It was originally just a fucking let’s play SMP for the OG members. Tommyinnit named it Dream’s SMP! Because it was clickbait! And it caught on among other content creators and their fans! Because it fed the algorithm! That’s all! If you’re going to be insistent on calling the SMP something else, at least know the reason it was named in the first place! I think making sweeping generalizations of specific traits being considered "ugly" is not great the same way i think its rude and unnecessary to call others ugly, i also think its worthwhile to acknowledge that certain traits ARE considered "Ugly" due to societal beauty standards, that doesn't make them ACTUALLY ugly, bc beauty is subjective anyway, and can be found Anywhere, and even someone who seems to tick every single box of societal beauty Ideals will almost certainly have at least one trait or feature about their appearance that they are insecure about or feel is "ugly", bc even within the constraints of conventional attractiveness theres subjectivity

aahhh zoro is my favourite LOL. him and shanks, probably, just bc ive known them peripherally for like my entire life, as someone who enjoyed nart & bleach growing up and so i saw op around just by association as the big three.

but mihawk in the live action got me to become actually more invested bc he is so pretty and so like, haughty in the funny way bc he's so serious abt it. and he has a huge sword and his whole aesthetic is so drama. and im genuinely obsessed with his coat forever kudos to the opla costuming dept. and it helps that he's easy to pair with shanks. 😂

there are more reasons than just mihawk (honestly i think what actually got me was the heart and compassion of op in a time of very cynical media) but mihawk certainly helped. :')
