That was Asta's remit and, when it wasn't in Asta's remit, it was nothing that she couldn't handle remotely. But no, apparently the best show of good faith was an appearance in person, or so her space station's lead researcher had so irritatingly advised. Which meant Herta was now here in an admittedly very quaint-looking garden on the Luofu, in the presence of the ship's general — a man who certainly looked every bit as impressive as the brief had described before arriving here.

       A brief, tsk. As if she couldn't be trusted to do this on her own!

       ... Anyway, did Asta really expect her to stay on script?

       Still, Herta wished to help with the abominations of the Abundance, using data gathered by the Simulated Universe. The process of understanding the divinity of the Aeons would be a lengthy one, but she saw no harm in sharing information with a third party if it would provide them with shorter term benefits. So Jing Yuan had earned himself an explanation of her position, at least. “ I understand how much the Xianzhou has suffered at the hands of the Abundance, but I find applying concepts such as morality to the Aeons to be... well, a fruitless exercise. Yaoshi believes in the merits of THEIR path, or else THEY would not exist. That state of affairs cannot change until or unless THEY are killed by Lan and the combined forces of your Alliance. ”

       Herta held his gaze steadily as they walked. Hopefully the General of the Luofu had prepared himself for a philosophical debate before his meeting with Madam Herta today. “ Besides, was it not the best of intentions that steered your people towards the blessings of the Abundance in the first place? If I am to one day truly understand the Aeons, then I cannot cloud my perception with bias. And the lack of apparent awareness on Yaoshi's part is indeed fascinating. ”

Had a bright side to it tho which surprised me, bc my boss witnessed it. It pissed her off pretty bad and she kinda had a heart to heart with me, made sure i was okay and ranted about how rude, stupid and innapropriate it is for people to behave like that which was really nice but i definitely didnt expect it at all lol.... she said she'd remember him so when he comes back he's probably getting an earful LOL. Or not but the thought is nice 👍

There's no in-world rationale for who turns into what. Instead I exercise my authorial privileges because this is still my "don't overthink it" setting. But I think for genetic lineages, it's more likely that your kids will have the same or a closely related canid form, hence Allison's family all having Canis forms. At some point I'll probably think of more lore surrounding this form of magic and I might tweak things a bit, but unless I find a really compelling reason to change it I'm going to stick to having them transform into fully canid forms (while mostly keeping their human-form brainpower).

I also think it's important to note that Sierra, known to be the most humorless person, cannot contain herself about Ian's raccoon dog form. She has long since decided it is the cutest thing she will ever see. This isn't why she married him but it's a bigger factor than she would like to admit.
